  • 1 glass of water

  • You need two cups of tiger nuts. Make sure that you soak them for at least 24 hours. They need to become soft enough so you can liquidize them later.
  • After you drain the  chufas , blend half of them with cold water (use about half of the cup) until you get an even mixture.
  • Add ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon powder into the mixture along with the lemon zest. You can also add one or two teaspoons of white sugar to make it sweeter.
  • Make sure that you put the mixture into the pitcher and then fridge it for at least four hours. Remember,  horchata  should be served cold and preferably in tall glasses.

When I’m asked what Spain foods you can easily make at home, pollo al ajillo often comes to mind.

If you know Spanish or are familiar with other spanish food names, you can probably guess that this is Spanish “garlic chicken.”

One of the most popular Spanish foods with locals and visitors alike, pollo al ajillo is made with chicken pieces, white wine, parsley and a generous helping of garlic.

So while this might not be what to eat in Spain on a first date, it is definitely a tasty choice!

If you don’t like spice, check with your server before ordering as ajillo sauce traditionally has lots of paprika in it.

However, I have found it isn’t always included with this particular famous food in Spain.

Famous Spanish Foods Found All Over Spain

Of course, aside from the regional food of Spain, there are some famous foods in Spain that can be found everywhere in the country.

The foods below don’t have a specific origin – though there may be a regional way of making them – and you can find them everywhere in Spain at good quality.

33. Sangria

When it comes to famous Spanish foods, lots of people also start thinking about what they want to drink with them.

Many of them opt for sangria, one of the staples of Spain food culture.

This formidable fruity punch-like drink can be traced back to the 18th century, although the exact origin is unknown.

Spain and Portugal are the only Iberian countries that are allowed to use the name “sangria”, which means “bloodletting”, possibly due to the rich red color of the drink.

Red wine is used as a base, which is then augmented with fruit and other sweeteners, and sometimes even other alcoholic extras.

Just as there are multitudes of different foods of Spain, there are also plenty of different sangria recipes.

More recently, the “sangria blanca” has emerged as a popular variation of this delicious drink, which uses white wine as a base instead of red.

34. Aceitunas – Spanish Olives

You can’t really try Spain’s food without encountering aceitunas (olives), even if it’s just as a side or appetizer.

In fact, Spain is the world’s largest producer of both olives and olive oil!

As you can imagine, there are many different varieties of olives available in Spain and they can be found in many traditional foods in Spain.

This Spain famous food comes in a range of flavors, from salty to nutty and bitter to sweet, as well as all shades of green and black.

With over 200 varieties to choose from, you will often find every region – and sometimes every restaurant – offers a different type.

For traveling gourmands, food in Spain is an absolute pleasure to discover. Spain boasts remarkable geographic and cultural diversity, which is reflected on the plate. Imagine seafood-centric tapas with plentiful vermouth in Barcelona, or Valencia’s famed paella. No matter which region you dine in, impeccably sourced ingredients are at the core of every dish.

In the past few decades, Spanish chefs scooped up Michelin stars with elaborate molecular gastronomy. Yet some of the best Spanish cooking is often the simplest. Few pleasures can compete with sipping a chilled cava while nibbling on slices of jamón Ibérico .

Food from Spain is above all a social affair, meant to be savored at a leisurely pace in excellent company.

Paella, best food in Spain

Although paella may be Spain’s best-represented culinary export abroad, it’s still far better enjoyed in its home country. Much of this has to do with the fact that Spain boasts not one paella, but many, many regional variations, each with their own appeal.

The term paella refers to rice that’s cooked, preferably over an open flame, in a large, shallow pan. That rather broad definition encompasses a tremendous range of ingredients and seasonings. Everything from snails to chorizo to wild game may be used, depending on the recipe.

Arguably the most famous regional variation is paella Valenciana, which typically includes rabbit and chicken and is perfumed with saffron.

Paella de mariscos , or seafood paella, often includes mussels, prawns, squid, cod, and as many other types of seafood as the chef can muster. Oftentimes, this version is midnight black thanks to a glug of squid ink.

A few factors unite these seemingly disparate dishes. First of all, the backbone of every paella is a sofrito , finely minced and sauteed aromatics. Second, any paella worth its salt boasts a socarrat , a crunchy, toasty layer of cooked rice at the bottom.

Jamón Ibérico

Jamón Ibérico, best food in Spain

Jamón Ibérico is to your standard ham what a Ferrari is to a Fiat. This most prized Spanish ham is made with the legs of Black Iberian pigs. These heritage breed porkers feast on acorns, which gives their meat an especially rich, nutty flavor. Iberian pork also boasts an impressive amount of marbling, which gives this ham its silky, melt-in-your-mouth texture.

Of course, that kind of quality does not come cheap. Jamón Ibérico is treated and priced like a luxury item because it is. Experts often shave off wafer-thin slices off a whole leg by hand. A few slices are spectacular on a bocadillo (sandwich).

If you’re craving jamón but don’t want to splurge on the really good stuff, don’t worry. Jamón serrano is also utterly delicious and cured in the old, artisanal fashion, but lacks the price tag or the pedigree.

Like many of Spain’s most iconic dishes, tortilla española is greater than the sum of its parts. While a dish consisting of eggs, potatoes, and onions seasoned with nothing more than salt and pepper might not sound especially flavorful, this one is.

The secret lies in the olive oil—lots and lots of olive oil. In a true tortilla, the thinly sliced rounds of potato are half-braised, half-fried in a generous pan of the good stuff. The result boasts a velvety texture that is simply not possible without that much fat. Once the eggs are added, this sophisticated frittata is cooked until bronzed on top.

It can be served warm or cold, sliced into wedges and accompanied by a dollop of aioli. Although tortilla espanola can stand alone, it is usually part of a larger tapas spread.

This chilled soup tastes like summer in a bowl. A good gazpacho should be made with ripe, in-season tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumber, onion, and garlic all whirled together in a blender. A generous amount of extra virgin olive oil emulsifies the mixture and gives it a luxurious mouthfeel.

While tomato-based gazpacho is the most famous iteration of this soup, it’s not the only one. White gazpacho consists of grapes, cucumber, blanched almonds, bread, and olive oil pureed together. To the uninitiated, the ingredient list might not sound like much. Once combined, however, it’s deliciously smooth and refreshing on a hot afternoon.

To make matters more confusing, there’s salmorejo, another chilled tomato soup from Andalucia. Unlike gazpacho, which retains a bit of texture, this cold soup of soaked bread, tomatoes, and olive oil is pale orange and velvet-smooth.

An essential component of any tapas spread that Spain is known for , patatas bravas are fried chunks of potatoes. Unlike more uniform French fries, bravas tend to come in irregular pieces with craggy, crispy edges.

A dusting of salt and smoked paprika make these utterly addictive. Like other forms of fried spuds, they are best served with a dipping sauce. In this case, it’s a garlicky aioli that often comes draped over the top.

If you spot a plate of these blistered, green peppers on a tapas spread, beware. Yes, they’re salty, savory, and almost impossible to stop eating. A squeeze of citrus and a sprinkle of flaky salt transforms them into the ultimate bar snack.

But while most of these peppers are mild, every so often you may encounter a fiery specimen. Approximately one out of every 10 peppers packs the capsicum punch of a jalapeno. So approach with caution and come armed with a glass of Rioja or a chilled cerveza just to be safe.

Churros, best food in Spain

As with many fried foods, churros are best consumed while still piping hot. These batons are a delicious dessert or snack and enjoyed from morning until the wee hours.

Churros are made with an egg-rich dough extruded through a mold to form a distinctive ridged shape. After a quick stint in bubbling oil, they’re tossed in sugar and served immediately.

Possibly the most satisfying aspect of churros is dunking them in a thick, rich chocolate sauce. They also pair brilliantly with hot chocolate, a beverage the Spanish approach with borderline reverence.

Spain’s spectacular seafood is on display in this elemental dish of prawns sauteed with copious amounts of garlic.

Any variety of shrimp tastes sensational with this preparation, but the fanciest versions rely on large, head-on prawns. A splash of wine or sherry vinegar often adds acidity, while smoked paprika or chili pepper flakes bring a sultry depth of flavor.

The finished dish often arrives still sizzling and showered with chopped parsley. A crusty piece of bread is an essential accompaniment for dunking in the fragrant sauce.

Galician-style octopus, which is sometimes also referred to as polbo a feira , is a testament to how time and care can transform a few simple ingredients.

If poorly prepared, octopus can sometimes have a rubbery texture. The skilled cooks of Galicia, however, simmer the cephalopod until tender and pair it with boiled potatoes. Smoked paprika, flaky sea salt, and a drizzle of grassy olive oil round out the dish.

Pulpo a la Gallega is a popular food at festivals on the Iberian peninsula, but it can be enjoyed at tapas joints all over Spain.

Many cultures have their own rendition of whole-roasted suckling pig and cochinillo asado is Spain’s. Traditionally associated with Castille, it can be found all over Spain. As with any great whole-roasted pig, the secret to success lies in a live fire and plenty of time.

Hours of slow, consistent heat render the pig’s lard, leading to succulent meat and crispy skin. Since cochinillo asado requires considerable work, it’s usually reserved for holiday feasts. Nevertheless, some restaurants serve this delicacy all year-round.

Crema Catalana

This luscious custard belongs to the same sweet extended family as crème brûlée and flan. At first glance, these silky, creamy desserts might appear similar. Yet the techniques behind them and the results are noticeably distinct.

Unlike flan, which is baked in a water bath for a uniform texture, crema Catalana is made entirely in a saucepan on the stove. And unlike crème brûlée, which is made with heavy cream, it uses whole milk for a lighter consistency.

To make this custard, cooks simmer milk with cinnamon sticks, orange, and lemon zest until fragrant. Egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch are then cooked together until thick and glossy. The whole mixture then gets chilled and served, like its French cousin, with blowtorched caramelized sugar on top.

This fragrant almond cake is one of Galicia’s most iconic desserts. Recipes vary slightly, but consist of pulverized almonds, eggs, and sugar. Citrus zest and a splash of brandy are traditionally added for flavor. Some bakeries up the ante with a flaky pastry crust at the base. The result pairs as well with a glass of fortified wine as it does with an espresso.

During the Middle Ages, the Camino de Santiago was one of the most important Christian pilgrimage routes in Europe. Although it’s unlikely that Catholics journeying through Galicia enjoyed food quite this fine, there are records of this cake dating back to the 16th century.

In 1924, restaurateur Jose Mora Soto began stenciling the Cross of the Order of Santiago onto his cakes. He named them for the region’s most famous saint and the moniker “tarta de Santiago” stuck.

Bacalao, or dried, salted cod, evolved as a means of food preservation in times before refrigeration. Because sailors historically relied on it for survival on long voyages, salt cod can now be found from Brazil and the Caribbean to Norway and much of the Mediterranean.

It remains a beloved staple throughout much of Spain. After being soaked for a day or two and rinsed, bacalao has only a mild salinity and a flaky texture.

Bacalao al pil pil hails from the Basque region originally, although many food historians believe its roots extend to North Africa. Like many Spanish classics, this dish relies heavily on technique to coax flavor out of a short list of ingredients.

To make the pil pil sauce, cooks infuse olive oil with garlic and a dried chili, then simmer the cod in it. Here’s where it gets interesting: the cook then uses the natural gelatin of the fish to emulsify the oil. The resulting sauce has the consistency of a runny aioli.

Croquetas, one of the best food in Spain

Along with patatas bravas and tortilla española , just about any tapas bar will offer up crunchy croquetas . These deep-fried nuggets have the most humble of origins. For Spanish home cooks, they were traditionally a way to use up leftovers. Just about any scraps of meat, seafood, or cheese could be bound together and transformed into a tasty snack.

Plenty of European cultures had the same thrifty idea, which is why we now have everything from Dutch kroketten to French croquettes. Modern-day tapas bars often incorporate fancier ingredients than yesterday’s leftovers. Croquetas de jamón (ham) and croquetas de bacalao (salt cod) are particularly popular options.

What sets Spanish croquetas apart from some of their counterparts is that they use a thick bechamel to bind the ingredients. That means that the crispy, breadcrumb exterior yields to a sumptuous fried interior and makes croquetas the ultimate comfort food in Spain.

Ever since the 15th century, confectioners in Spain have been whipping up this alchemical marvel of caramelized honey and egg whites. Heat and patience transform these ingredients into a crunchy, snow-colored nougat, which is usually studded with toasted nuts.

No one knows the precise origins of this sweet treat, but it’s popular throughout Spain, Italy, and Portugal. Some food historians believe that variations of the candy may date back to ancient Greece and Rome.

Today, it’s especially beloved around Christmas, although it can be enjoyed at any time of year. Since turrón keeps and travels well, it makes for a great edible Spanish souvenir or gift.

If you love the Spanish culture and it's vibrant and healthy gastronomy, and would like to learn more, then what better way to learn more than taking part in a planned cooking holiday in Spain.

There are now a whole host of cooking schools in Spain run by Michelin starred chefs to home based cooks, each one only to willing to share their unique family recipes with visitors eager to learn the secrets of Spanish cuisine.

Cooking classes in Barcelona are very popular although classes are available throughout Spain from Madrid and Andalucia  and to the gastronomic haven that is the Basque country in northern Spain.

There are a number of smaller independently run home based cooks offering Spanish cooking classes, many in authentic rural locations where you can really immerse yourself in the local life and culture whilst learning to cook famous Spanish recipes.

1. Cooking with Nuria from A La Taula Catalonia

Nuria offers cooking classes at her home in Barcelona, which offers a spacious renovated kitchen full of the typical architectural details of a 19th century Barcelona apartment building.

She grew up in Barcelona with a family that had a passion for food. Her mother made wonderful meals every day and she also spent much of their time traveling around Catalonia to try different restaurants.

Later she lived in New York City for many years where she received a health-supportive culinary education at the Natural Gourmet Institute. Nuria spent some time in New York working as a cook at Gramercy Tavern, then as a personal chef for a family, and finally as a cooking instructor, it was at that time she decided she wanted to teach the food from her home region of Catalonia and moved back to Spain with her husband and daughter.

With the Catalan expression “a la taula” (time to eat!) as the name of her cooking classes, she revives the memories of her mother calling her family when the meals were ready to eat. And with this expression, she invites her students to enjoy a delicious homemade meal in a warm and cozy environment. The students prepare the meal with lots of guidance from her, learning plenty of cooking tips and techniques typical in traditional Catalan cooking.

Nuria now runs popular half-day cookery classes, during which the main meal is prepared, 2 fresh market tapas dishes and a dessert. The ingredients used are always high-quality, seasonal, fresh, local and organic whenever possible.  Nuria shares her favorite family recipes, which have been tweaked with her own special touch.

Her cookery classes are usually for small groups (maximum of 7 people) as well as private classes, both with the option of a tour in a local market.  Students of all cooking levels and ages are welcome as Nuria ensures everybody is engaged in a fun and friendly environment. Students with different dietary requirements are also catered for, Nuria adapts perfectly her unique dishes whilst making sure they get the full taste of Catalan flavors.

Lynsey is the founder of La Rosilla, a beautiful rustic farm house located in the heart of Andalucia. She now offers home based cooking classes, event catering and rural B&B accommodation set within a mountainside Villa.

Lynsey left the corporate world behind some 12 years ago and relocated to the tiny village of ‘Solano’ within the breath-taking ‘Montes de Malaga’, a mountain range set behind the city of Malaga in Andalucia southern Spain.

Lynsey came to Spain with hubby, three children and her dog, in search of new challenges that would fulfill her passion for food, wine and the unique culture of Spain.

La Rosilla was created and is now set within a rustic traditional ‘finca’ farmhouse. It sits on it’s own mountainside with spectacular views alongside almond and olive groves.

Annie-B'S Kitchen Cookery Classes

Annie B ran her own successful catering and corporate hospitality company in London for over 15 years before succumbing to the charms of Vejer de la Frontera in Andalucia, which is where her award-winning home cooking classes are now based.

Annie is passionate about food, wine and the Spanish culture offering tours and cookery classes from her home ‘Casa Aalegre’ in Vejer.  Her traditional home was completely refurbished in 2003 transforming a centuries-old Andalucian patio home for five families into the stunning residence it is today.

The azotea (roof terrace) is where everyone gathers to relax, have a pre-lunch or dinner drink and enjoy the spectacular 270-degree views over Vejer and the Straits of Gibraltar towards North Africa.

Annie specialises in cookery classes that maximise taste with the minimum of fuss whilst celebrating all aspects of the country that originally drew her to Andalucia.  Annie was honoured by the town of Vejer in September 2013 as a ”Vejeriaga de Adopcion” in recognition for the attention she has brought to local gastronomy.

4. Cookery Courses at Finca Buen Vino

Jeannie and Charlie Chesterton are the owners of Finca Buen Vino, a traditional Spanish country house located close to the picturesque village of Aracena in Andalucia southern Spain.

The finca is a perfect place to learn about the famous ‘Jabugo’ cured ham, local wines and typical Andalucía dishes,  all in a relaxed and friendly setting.

Jeannie and Charlie offer several cookery classes throughout the year for small groups of 4 to 8 persons. Their classes are fun and a perfect way to spend time with friends whilst learning about the local gastronomy and Andalucian culture.

The farmhouse boasts a beautiful location in the heart of the ‘Jabugo D.O’ area, famed for its high-quality black foot cure ham, regarded by many as the best in Spain. Visitors get to visit the village of Jabugo itself and explore the impressive curing cellars of the renowned 5 J’s brand plus learn about its history and production.

Students of the cookery classes at Finca Buen Vino get to learn about traditional southern Spanish recipes with it’s French, Italian and Arabic influences.  Jeannie and Charlie also allow students to chose the dishes they wish to cook from a selection of recipes from their own cookery book.

Recipes include ‘Spinach and Chickpeas with Cumin’, ‘Butter Beans and Clams with Tomato”, ‘Iced Garlic and Almond Soup’. There are also hearty roasts,  ‘cocidos’  and winter game dishes of winter, and the light cold soups of summer.  You will also learn how to use a ‘ picada’  of ground and roast nuts, spices and bread fried in olive oil for thickening stews. Fruit is used in savoury meat dishes such as 'Rabbit with Apricots and Spinach and Pinenuts' or 'Quails with Quinces.

Not forgetting the traditional Paella dish using less well known ‘Black Rice’ made from squid ink. And for those with a sweet tooth, there are a few indulging desserts to prepare such as 'Panna Cotta with Saffron', 'Rosemary Sorbet', or 'Cardamom and Honey Ice cream'.

5. The Paella Club - Barcelona

Alex is aptly accompanied by award-winning executive chef, Alex Villar. Originally from Canada,  Alex combines his Mexican and Spanish roots to create his signature spin on classic Mediterranean cuisine.  He has worked in many top restaurants, most notably the world-famous Noma restaurant in Denmark.

The Paella Club offers a gastronomic education that links tradition with modern whilst maintaining an environmentally conscious approach, no food goes to waste as they donate any left overs to local neighbourhood food-pantries and the needy population.

Cookery Classes Spain

Created in 1999, A Taste of Spain is a local travel agency specialized in organizing private culinary tours and activities across Spain for international foodie travelers and food professionals.

A Taste of Spain offers interesting private hands-on cooking classes, organized specifically to meet your preferences and cooking skills. Most of their cooking classes start with a guided visit to a local food market for seasonal products, this is where the tour gets active and fun. You can ask questions to your expert cookery teachers and chat in a friendly laid-back atmosphere.

Their cooking classes offer the added bonus of being held at some very special venues, such as a members-only Basque Gastronomic Society, a penthouse with magnificent views, a delightful beach house by the Mediterranean, a wonderful rustic kitchen in a country home, a cozy professional kitchen and within a prestigious local cooking school.

I didn’t catch what the amazing paella cook said. If I don’t have bomba rice, which short grain rice would you recommend?

Would using other types of short grain rice change the flavour and texture?

Hi Sylvia, The three main types of rice used in Paella is Bomba, Senia and Calasparra, all of which are short-grain rice varieties. In my opinion, using other types of short to medium grain would not change the flavor drastically. It is a case of try and see which one you find is the best for you.

Me and my friend went for dinner here on Tuesday 28th June as the restaurant came up number one on TripAdvisor so thought we would check it out. The food was amazing just as the service, very attentive staff. The only recommendation would be to... translate the pudding menu to English, rather than the staff member trying to translate it. More

My husband and I have just been to this restaurant and found the whole experience very 'interesting'. It was a bit beyond us to be honest. We are used to straight forward menus, starters/mains/deserts. This restaurant does not have a traditional menu. We didn't order... a starter but an unusual starter arrived anyway, it consisted of roasted cheese and quite a bit of chocolate!! Crackling in chocolate!! It was lovely just a bit weird. For the main my husband ordered a burger (it was really the only recognisable thing on the menu) and he loved it. It wasn't a straightforward burger, it had some sort of berries on it, to me it looked like blackberry jam! I chose duck, it arrived in pitta bread and wasn't like any duck I had ever had. It was presented on a hot plate and chicken wire!! Weird as I said previously. For desert we had ice cream with frozen coke and Tiramisu. The Tiramisu is to die for. We also had a pint of beer and two glasses of red wine, beautiful wine, and the bill (which we expected to be enormous) came to €45. It's a beautiful restaurant, the toilets are spotless, the food (if you can understand it) is gorgeous but be prepared to be confused!! Would we go back? Probably not, but only because we are not adventurous enough. We couldn't fault the restaurant only the confusing menu. Not a lot of English spoken by the staff so an explanation of the menu is not really possible. If you fancy a straight forward steak them I would say avoid. If you want to try something unusual then give it a go. More

Regrettably, my experience at Restaurant Cook & Travel was unequivocally one of the worst I’ve ever encountered. We opted for the most expensive and comprehensive tasting menu, anticipating a memorable evening, but were promptly let down. The service was profoundly neglectful, especially from the chef,... who showcased a blatant preference for local patrons over foreigners. Not once did he address us throughout the entire night, while we witnessed prolonged interactions with the neighboring tables, with visits lasting around 15 minutes each. This discriminatory behavior left a bitter taste, overshadowing any aspects of the meal that could have been positive. The atmosphere was tense, and the stark difference in treatment was so blatant it tainted the ambiance. The fact that the restaurant was empty should have been a red flag, a forewarning of the unpleasant experience awaiting us. It is now clear that the lack of patrons is a direct consequence of the poor service and the hostile atmosphere radiated by the staff, most notably the chef. Having been to various fine dining restaurants, this was, without a doubt, the worst experience. It’s disheartening that in 2023 we still have to witness and endure racist and xenophobic attitudes in establishments that should prioritize hospitality and respect to all customers, regardless of their background. In conclusion, Restaurant Cook & Travel was a profound disappointment, marked by neglectful service, a culinary experience tainted by discriminatory attitudes, and an unpleasant environment. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I will certainly never return. More

The restaurant looks very modern and trendy when you arrive and the menu lives up to the appearance. We opted for the "Round the World" tasting menu - 8 courses for €35. It was certainly very interesting and a little challenging, e.g. a small taste... of gazpacho out of a test tube! While some of the dished worked really well and were lovely others were a little bland despite the over-the-top presentation - lots of dry ice and other gimmicks used. I think the first course was an anchovy on a bed of some form of savoury icecream. The anchovy was very salty and the ice cream was insipid. The sashimi was lovely but the ceviche was a bit lacking in flavor - it needed some extra punch. Prawn in peanut curry sauce was fine but not hugely impressive. Perhaps the most enjoyable course was dessert which was a mixture of small items and was lovely (and the most traditional item all night). The restaurant is trying to be very adventurous but with mixed results. It is certainly not expensive for what they are offering but the overall standard could be better. More annoyingly, the night was let down by extremely poor service all night. Having ordered food, I had to ask for the wine list at least 3 times. In the end, I opted to go for a glass of wine as my OH was not drinking and I didn't fancy a full bottle by myself! It was a real struggle to get refills as the night went on. There was a complete absence of any attempt to explain the dishes when they were presented - this may reflect a lack of English but this was not explained and it was disappointing to have very unusual dishes presented without any attempt at a description of what was being served. At least one course was delivered to the table before the earlier course was even finished! It was almost impossible to get the bill at the end of the evening - the staff were too busy chatting amongst themselves or with other customers. They also have mastered the technique of walking through the restaurant without checking to see if any customers want attention. I suspect that this restaurant aspires to be something special. It does produce some great food but it is not consistent based on my experience. More importantly, the service would want to improve dramatically. Perhaps we hit it on a bad night - the positive reviews on here would suggest so. However, I am not convinced. More

went here based on tripadvisor reviews, found it to be more like a cafe than restaurant and waited an eternity for over priced small portions. wont be back

Overall this place is not bad, but one issue changed my mind completely. I ordered risotto and they brought smth that looked like paella with very specific taste and smell (if you grilled shrimps before you know what I’m talking about). I didn’t eat it... and asked our waiter to take it away (and ofcuz removed it from the check) and can you imagine he called chief of that place and this guy told us if I don’t like then this is my problem. He didn’t take it to kitchen to Inspect the dish etc (how it does at normal places). Then he started to argue (that was very unprofessional) and in the end he said we have to pay in full or police will come. Really? It is not about money, but about attitude. Guys you HAVE to learn how to run restaurant business otherwise leave it! Not friendly, not professional, disgusting place! P.S. And risotto have to be cooked “al-dente” if you know what does it mean. More

Visited this Restaurant this evening with my partner, we chose it after its high recommendation on trip advisor. We were greeted politely when we came in and shown to our table. It was not busy. We waited patiently but were not given any menus for... at least 15 minutes. After receiving the menus it took another 15 minutes for them to take our order and we had to ask for a wine menu which was basically thrown onto the table. After another 10 minutes they took our order for wine. Throughout all this time we were not approached by any member of staff to see were we ok and I had spent most my time looking around to try and get the attention of the four staff that were working. We received our wine and our food came out pretty quick after that. Our mains arrived and as I was about to eat mine I noticed a little insect crawling on my food. I got the attention of the waiter and showed it to him. He didn't seem to understand what the problem and proceeded to get another waiter who maybe was the chef? He said he would get me another dish but made no apologies. At this stage my partner and I had enough after being seated for an hour so I told him we were leaving. He just walked away and we left after receiving no apology. We have never left a restaurant in our lives and would not contemplate doing it lightly but it was the worst experience we have ever had and is completely down to the extremely poor service we received. 2 adults and 2 young boys. Greated and seated with perfect friendliness and a great recommendation for the wine. Started well with first kids burger arriving and tasting excellent took another 5 mins for my other sons pizza to arrive and then another 10mins for... my wifes. All tasted perfect but it was exactly 48mins later of waiting for my pork curry to finally arrive and to find the centre piece still raw, not perfect as the chef commented as I know how to cook, that ruined it all. No apologies for the delays at any stage by staff even when I went up to politely ask, as we were enjoying everything up to that point and by tasting everyone's good food how would I mind. I still would have recommended and would go back if only they hadn't decided to try charge me for the curry which I had given back uneaten and explained why. They weren't busy tonight so it's not an excuse and they should have been polite enough, even the chef whom I spoke to, to accept their errors. And no I did not pay for the curry in the end but it took a conversation I didn't want to have with the chef first. More

After looking at the positive reviews, me and my partner visited this restaurant. The menus weren’t in English so I was using my phone for translation. Around 4-5 minutes after sitting down, the waiter came to take the drinks order - to which we weren’t... ready. The waiter then preceded to demand to me when we were going to order food and drinks. After this embarrassing situation, we left. Disgusting actually. More

Great place whit nice and good staff and weithers, whit passion for food, and the food was amazing. We had a wonderful evening experiencing new taste and a good atmosphere. We will be back.....

I think this place is haven for foodies. Very chilled decor and waiters. Exciting menus. The food is so fresh and delicious. The presentation was lovely but the taste was will be remembered. Excellent wines with the waiter guiding us towards a reasonably priced local... wine. Do not miss a trip here if you like food. More

The restaurant is a very modern, contemporary and well lit. The staff were very friendly and found us a table quite quickly as we had not booked. The waiter that took our drink order was very knowledgeable and explained in detail about the drinks. The... menu is quite unique with a variety of foods from around the world, so don't book if you want plain food. Again when the food was delivered, it was explained in detail and the fragrances shared around the table. The price was pretty good too. Well worth a visit More

We have dined in many countries but this restaurant certainly has the WOW! factor. We arrived during the Euro football championship games and asked if the game was showing on their to and if so, to be seated within viewing distance. Immediately taken into the... back area, beautiful bright and fresh decorated, light filled room. The ceiling points into a sky light with 4 projectors up high that project forestry and nature scenes onto the restaurant walls. Then the menu from countries all around the globe. Wagyu beef burgers from USA, pizza from Italy, seafood from Asia, etc. But nothing on the menu was ordinary. It was special, food fit for a king. If you appreciate good food, then you MUST visit at least once in your lifetime. The amuse bouche consisted of a platter with a soft, chewy textured crisp , followed by a type of green olive that explodes in your mouth (you're told not to bite it or you'll lose the experience!) then a crispy pig skin coated in dark chocolate and finally a test tube vial of gazpacho soup to wash it all down. The textures were all different. Fabulous! I ordered vegetables in noodles with red prawns from Asia. The presentation of each dish was a work of art. 2 waiters came, the noodles and vegetables were in a salad bowl with an upturned dish over them. The second waiter had a small tray of prawns which he turned on its side to release the juices onto the rim of the bowl. With that the first waiter had released what looked like liquid ice onto the rim and it magnified the aroma of the prawn juice and created a wonderful spectacle,then he lifted the upturned dish to present the food underneath. It all tasted exquisite. We also had the pulled duck, salmon sashimi, heart shaped marguerite pizza - it was the best pizza we ever tasted so ended up ordering a second one. Desserts were all fabulous, had the passion fruit mousse, tiramisu, ice cream selection with what looked and tasted like crushed Coca Cola ice chips on top and a brownie with pistachio ice cream. As other reviews noted, it would be beneficial to have the dessert menu in other languages other than Spanish. The waiters were all male, middle aged and very knowledgeable of their profession, they were amazing. Would highly recommend Cook and Travel. More
