Day 1: Arrive Bangalore & Drive To Coorg ( 06 Hrs )

On Arrival at Bangalore, , Our tour executive recieved you and further transfer to the hotel. Check in to the hotel. Half day sightseeing in Coorg including Coorg visiting Madikeri Fort, Raja Seat. At Raja Seat enjoy the spectacular sunset which will refresh one’s mind. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Coorg Local Sightseeing - Talakaveri – Madikeri

This morning after having your breakfast , go for visiting places such as : Bhagamandala , is situated at the confluence of two rivers, the Cauvery and the Kanika. A third river, the Sujyothi is said to join from underground. It is considered sacred as a river confluence ; Talakaveri is a beautiful place and the origin of the Cauvery River. It is situated on the slopes of the Brahmagiri mountain ranges near Bhagamandala , Madikeri Fort , Omkareswara Temple , Raja’s Thomb. Overnight Stay at hotel.

Day 3: Coorg Hotel To Kabini Drive ( 3 Hrs )

The Best Time to Visit Coorg Summer, between March and May, is the best time to visit Coorg for a full-fledged, all-inclusive vacation. The summer temperatures in Coorg average between 20°C to 35°C but sitting at an altitude of 3,840 feet above the sea level, the weather on the hill station stays pleasant. It does get crowded during summer as tourists from all over flock to the cooler environs of Coorg. The afternoons may get slightly hot, but the mornings, evenings and nights stay pleasantly cool. All the trekking trails, mountain-biking tracks and tourist attractions are open and accessible during summer. You may also experience some rains, but not severe enough to affect your sightseeing plans.

Monsoon is probably the most glorious time to visit Coorg. The rains bring out the magic of the Western Ghats and Coorg takes on a refreshed look. With temperatures ranging between 20°C to 30°C, it is the perfect weather for a steaming cup of South Indian coffee. The rains take over the hill station and venturing out becomes difficult. How to Reach Coorg You can reach Coorg from anywhere in India by air, road and rail. But whoever mode of travel you choose, the last leg of your journey has to be completed by road. Coorg does not have an airport and neither does it have a railway station. Mangalore Airport, about 160 km away, is the closest airport to Coorg, followed by Bengaluru Airport which is around 260 km away. While the airport at Mangalore is closer, Bengaluru Airport enjoys a better connectivity with the rest of the country. Once you are alright at either of the airports, you can take a taxi or a bus to reach Coorg. From Mangalore, a bus takes around 5hrs 40mins to reach Coorg, while a taxi is quicker at around 2hrs 10mins.

Mysore Railway Station, located around 117km away is the closest railway station to Coorg. Once there you can hire a taxi or catch a bus to complete the final leg of your journey. Mysore Express, Shatabdi Express and Bangalore Express are some of the trains that stop at Mysore. If you decide to travel by bus, you can catch one from Mysore, Mangalore and Bengaluru. NH48 is the main highway that connects Coorg to the rest of the country.

The Namdroling Monastery is known as the Golden Temple because of the 18-metre-tall gold-plated statue of Buddha inside. It can be best described as a typical Tibetan monastery that is also a centre of learning and culture for young monks. Dedicated to the Nyingmapa branch of Buddhism, it is a rather unassuming building from the outside. But the interiors have been lovingly created, with a great deal of care lavished on intricate details. The serene atmosphere inside, coupled with the lavish colorful murals, will leave you spellbound. Nagarhole National Park If you’re visiting Coorg with your family, Nagarhole National Park is a must-visit. Counted among the best national parks across the country, the park is home to a diverse range of species of birds and animals. Elephants, tigers, panthers, gaurs, jackals, sambar deer, spotted deer, sloth bears, mongoose, hyenas and civet cats call this park home along with almost 250 species of birds. Madikeri Fort This 17th-century-warrior has withstood the test of time to stand proudly, confident in its invulnerability. Built at a time when Madikeri was declared the capital of Coorg, the fort has since passed through the hands of a number of rulers including Tipu Sultan and the British. This has resulted in an eclectic mix of arts and architectural styles that the fort carries with elan. The museum on the premises exhibits interesting artefacts from the period and subsequent journey through time. The fort is still in use and today it houses the offices of Deputy Commissioner of Madikeri. Be sure to visit here for a stroll through history. Food in Coorg Truly blessed in all respects, Coorg can also boast of a rich and diverse culinary culture. The fresh local produce elevates the simplest of dishes. The food in Coorg is a reflection of the culture and traditions of the Kodagu district. From spicy meat curries to simple rice dumplings, food in Coorg is a fascinating journey with many interesting stops along the way. Kadambattu - A Versatile Player This humble rice dumpling is a mainstay of the Kodava cuisine. Eaten almost every day, it is also a part of festivals, weddings and important religious occasions. It is made with broken rice which is blended with cardamom powder and then rolled into bite-sized dumplings. As a street food, it is served with a side of pickle. When prepared at home or served during festivals, it is paired with Pandi Curry or Chicken Curry. Pandi Curry - Spicy Goodness This spice-infused pork curry is a local favourite and is also popular as a street food. The roasted spices make merry with fresh herbs and chillies to create culinary magic. Cooked slowly over hours, the meat soaks up all the flavours and retains its moisture to become a succulent indulgence that is rich in texture and flavour. The original recipe used wild-boar meat, which has now been replaced by pork. This is best served with steaming Kadambuttu or piping hot Akki Roti. Bamboo Shoot Curry - Vegetarian Indulgence Imagine having a bamboo curry for lunch! Surprisingly, bamboo has long been a part of the Kodava cuisine, adding its flavours to an already full plate. Young bamboo shoots are soaked for 72 hours before being tossed in a complex mixture of spices and served as a curry. Bamboo shoots do have a taste of their own. Instead they take on the flavours of the spices while adding texture to the curry. The Bamboo Shoot Curry is best enjoyed with rice or Akki Roti. Kulai Puttu - An Unlikely Delicacy This steamed delicacy uses jackfruit pulp to add an unusual texture and taste to an unlikely delicacy. In essence, Kulai Puttu is a steamed jackfruit cake. Jackfruit pulp is mixed with broken rice rava to give it somebody and seasoned with jaggery, salt and cardamom powder. Small pieces of coconut add crunch to the dish. The whole mixture is then rolled up into seared banana leaves and steamed for around 30-40 minutes before serving. Tasty on its own, the Kuleputtu is often accompanied by a dollop of unsalted butter. Nuu Puttu - An Everyday Staple Like the idlis, Nuu Puttu is a versatile breakfast staple that can be enjoyed with a variety of curries and chutneys. This noodle cake is eaten almost every day and can be found in homes and restaurants across Coorg. Boiled rice dough is pressed into thin noodles using a special press known as Nuuputtu Wara. No. Though our drivers are ready for duty after 6.00 AM in the morning, the guests can decide what time they want to get picked-up. Do note that if the guests decide to get picked up later than 1.00 PM, then the first day’s sightseeing spots will not be able to be covered. The driver will cover the same on the last day.

DO THE GUESTS HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF DRIVER’S ALLOWANCE AND FOOD ON COORG TOUR?

No. The guests do not have to pay anything extra to the driver while on the Coorg trip. Our drivers have been provided their daily allowance by the company for their food and accommodation. Nor will they ever ask the guest any money while they are on the trip.

Yes. During the Coorg tour, whether the guests want to stop at any restaurant on the way or  to access washroom, they can request the driver and he will do the needful. Please do note that once the guests have entered “Bangalore – Mysore Highway”, which is barricaded for a long stretch by the highway authorities, access to restaurants or washrooms are limited or non-existent. If there is any medical condition, that entails the need for the guests for frequent washroom breaks, then they may please inform the same to the driver before the start of the journey and he will change the route accordingly.

HOW MUCH TIME IS ALLOCATED TO THE GUESTS TO SPEND AT THE TOURIST SPOTS IN COORG?

During the Coorg tour, the guests can spend as much time they want at any tourist spot. The driver will patiently wait at the parking spot.

If guests are arriving from Chennai or Hyderabad by train for their Coorg tour and would like the driver to pick them up early morning at 5.00 or 6.00 from the railway station, then it is possible. The hotel rooms are provided on temporary basis for 2 to 3 hours to stay and freshen-up. And will cost around 500 to 700 Rs. Payable directly at the hotel. 1. nagarhole national park.

This national park hosts a wide range of species of plants and animals including elephant, jackal, tiger, panther, gaur, sambar, spotted deer, mongoose, civet cat, hyena, and sloth bear. This place has been the shelter of more than 250 varieties of birds. Nagarhole National Park is surrounded by Kabini River on the north while Bandipur National park forms its southern boundaries. A dam of the Kabini River along with its reservoir demarcates the two national parks and is a sight to behold.

2. Kabini Dam

Kabini Reservoir near the town of Sargur is located at a distance of about 60 kilometres from Mysore. The lush green surroundings and the pristine river water of the river make it a perfect place for capturing natural beauty for the photographers. Built-in 1974 on River Kabini, this place has enthralling nature encapsulating it. One can explore the dam, the flora and fauna and the river valley and immerse in its serene beauty. The dense forests used to a hotspot for hunting for Maharajas and British Officers during the Colonial era.

3. Abbey Falls

The water cascade in Coorg comes down from the cliff of a height of 70 feet. Stocky coffee bushes and spice estates with trees entwined with pepper vines surround the waterfall. Some small mountains streams and brooks together forms the waterfall where the water flows to join the River Kaveri or Cauvery as one of its tributaries. The walk to the falls from the main entrance has around 200 steps downward.

4. Namdroling Monastery

Namdroling Monastery or popularly called the Golden Temple of Coorg, is the largest teaching centre of the school of Tibetan Buddhism known as Nyingmapa. It has some fabulous work of Tibetan architecture and beautiful murals adorn the wall. Spread over an area of 80 square feet and built from Bamboo which was donated by the Indian Government to the Tibetans in exile, this temple holds many auxiliary structures like educational institutions and a hospital, in addition to being home to about 5,000 members of the Sangha community. It was founded by Pema Norbu Rinpoche, the 11th throne-holder of the Palyul Lineage of the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism, following his exit from Tibet in 1963.

5. Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary

This is the second-largest wildlife sanctuary in Kerala. This sanctuary in Wayanad is surrounded by the protected areas of Mudumalai in Tamil Nadu as well as Nagarhole and Bandipur in Karnataka. The wildlife sanctuary was founded in 1973 and is an integral part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve which was the first biosphere out of the 14 present in India. Spread over an area of 345 square km two parts namely Upper Wayanad and Lower Wayanad form the area.
