Manchester United to welcome visitors back to its Old Trafford Tour & Museum as Trafford reopens

man utd visit old trafford

Manchester United is pleased to confirm that its  Old Trafford Tour & Museum  will reopen to visitors this Spring in line with the UK government’s easing of lockdown measures.

The popular attractions are due to reopen on Monday 17th May after more than a year of closures and disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bookings are now being taken for the Old Trafford Tour & Museum from 17th May, giving visitors the chance to step inside Old Trafford and experience the history and magic of the Theatre of Dreams.

The Red Café, in the heart of the Sir Alex Ferguson stand, is also due to reopen for food and drink from 17th May and fans will be able to visit the club’s renowned Megastore, which is set to reopen its doors on Monday 12th April.

Collette Roche, Chief Operating Officer, Manchester United, said: “We can’t wait to welcome visitors back to Old Trafford and, while we won’t be happy until fans are in the stands again for matches, the reopening of our non-matchday visitor attractions is an important step towards normalisation.”

A range of measures will be in place across the Old Trafford Tour & Museum, Red Café and Megastore to ensure that visitors can enjoy their experience of Old Trafford while keeping themselves and staff safe.

Manchester United has received certification from The National Tourist Organisations of Great Britain and Northern Ireland confirming that its attractions follow government and industry Covid-19 guidelines, including measures to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.

Old Trafford Tour & Museum provides an enthralling experience exploring the triumphs and tragedy of Manchester United’s 143-year history through thousands of unique exhibits in the club Museum, followed by a tour of England’s largest club football stadium. The tour includes the players’ tunnel, the manager’s dugout and a walk alongside the world-famous pitch.

Groups will be limited to 15 people until 21st June to allow for social distancing. All dates are based on the government’s current timetable for the easing of lockdown measures and are subject to review.

Adult prices are from £25 and juniors/concessions from £18 when booked online, with additional discounts available for education groups. Advanced bookings are strongly recommended and can be made here, or by calling the Contact Centre on +44 161 676 7770.

Reviews for Old Trafford Tour

Amazing tour.

AWESOME Tour. We had Paul as our tour guide who was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and funny. Some of the jokes might not register if English isn’t your first language, but our group was laughing throughout the tour. We got to do everything we wanted: walk through the tunnel, sit in the player/coach seats, learn about the history of the stadium. Would highly recommend this tour. Be sure to book ahead of time as we saw some walk-ups turned away when we were there.

Theatre of Dreams

What an amazing stadium this is wether filled with 75.000 fans or empty the atmospere is electric.

There are cafes for meals and drinking, and a museum to tour. With so much silverwear to see and history to read.

Also, you can see into the players changing rooms and get a feeling the players have before coming out to play.

Female friendly stadium

Very interesting stadium! Suprised about the amazing tour and all stories we heard about the team and history that has happened. But most of all I appreciated the rest rooms for ladies. This was one of the female friendliest Rest rooms I have ever seen. So thoughtful of Manchester United to have free female hygiene products available! I know what this might not be a concern for most ppl but I really appreciated this gesture. It’s not common!!!

Dan Ashworth visit to Wolves emerges in new twist to Newcastle-Man Utd saga

Ashworth is the subject of a prolonged battle between newcastle and man utd over his wish to become sporting director at old trafford.

Dan Ashworth is understood to have had a meeting at Wolves’ training ground after being placed on gardening leave by Newcastle United earlier this year without informing his employers.

i has learned that Ashworth met with Wolves’ sporting director Matt Hobbs at the club’s Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground in March, several weeks after leaving Newcastle.

Ashworth was placed on gardening leave on 19 February a few days after he informed Newcastle he wanted to leave to join Manchester United , but the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement.

Newcastle are understood to be demanding £20m in compensation for their sporting director which Manchester United are refusing to pay, with Ashworth – who remains an employee at Newcastle for the time being – taking his old club to arbitration in an attempt to resolve the dispute.

The revelation that Ashworth met a senior figure at another Premier League club while on gardening leave could complicate an already acrimonious matter even further as Newcastle look to defend their position at an arbitration hearing.

Manchester United sources insist that Ashworth’s meeting at Wolves had nothing to do with them and that he was acting in a personal capacity, as his teenage son is an academy player at the club. During his visit to Wolves, Ashworth is also understood to have had a fleeting conversation with manager Gary O’Neil following a chance encounter.

Ashworth’s family home is close to Wolves’ training ground, as his first job was sporting director at West Brom before he went on to take similar roles at the FA, Brighton and Newcastle.

Sources at Wolves have indicated that as sporting director Hobbs is not in the habit of having one-on-one meetings with the parents of academy players as his main remit is the first team, although he is understood to have a good professional relationship with Ashworth.

i understands that Manchester United were made aware privately of Ashworth’s visit to Wolves sometime after the event following reports linking O’Neil to a potential coaching role at Old Trafford.

There is no suggestion that Ashworth was involved in or even aware of any discussions at Manchester United about O’Neil. Manchester United and Newcastle have been approached for comment.

In another twist, the Daily Mail reported last month that Newcastle discovered emails from Ashworth to Manchester United’s incoming chief executive Omar Berrada from early February in which they discussed the sporting director vacancy at Old Trafford before the two clubs had held formal talks.

In an embarrassing gaffe, Ashworth blind-copied the emails to his official Newcastle account, which alerted his employers to the possibility that he had been tapped up.

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe labelled Newcastle’s demands for £20m in compensation for Ashworth as “silly” in February, but has since made personal attempts to try and resolve the dispute. The Ineos founder invited Newcastle director Amanda Staveley for a meeting to broker a deal in April, which she attended, but no progress was made as Newcastle’s owners have mandated the club’s chief executive Darren Eales to handle the talks.

Manchester United confirmed on Tuesday night that Erik ten Hag will be staying on as the club’s manager next season following a post-season review by the owners, although there may be some changes made to the Dutchman’s coaching staff.

With summer around the corner, thousands of music fans will be venturing to another venue in the city for three huge gigs. All of these will take place within just over a week of each other.

Foo Fighters had two nights at Emirates Old Trafford, these being June 13 and 15. The second night was added after the first was subject to popular demand.

On Friday June 21, Green Day bring their ‘Saviours’ tour to Old Trafford in what will be one of only four UK dates. This is the three-piece band’s first Manchester show since their ‘Revolution Radio’ tour back in 2017.

Across these three days, thousands of music fans will descend on the cricket ground. In what will be a busy period for the area, we’ve rounded up some of the key pieces of information you’ll need to know.
