Open the vehicle's hood to disconnect your battery, Insert removal tool to the gap then remove the panel on the inside of the door.

Remove the switch assembly and disconnect the harness, clean the dust off the plug and the connector Insert to a new switch.

Tighten the battery clamp. Ensure that the connection is good.

Tips: Do NOT spill water on the car door,any water seeping in can lead to internal short circuiting. Do NOT put anything in the car window gap. Doing so may cause the window to become stuck, and unable to be lifted up or down. Moreover, the pressure will be transmitted to, and damage the lift motor.

Please press the left-front switch on the driver's window controller all the way downwards and maintain for 5-8 seconds. 2. Turn the switch all the way upwards and maintain for 5-8 seconds. Then restart the vehicle to complete the match.

The power window switch in your vehicle is responsible for controlling the movement of your power windows. In most vehicles, the driver door has a master control panel with a group of switches to control the windows for each door. When activated, the power window switch sends signals to the power window motor, triggering the window to go up or down. The power window system also includes electronic relays, fuses, and wires that connect its various components. The power window fuse is located in your vehicle's fuse box, which may also house a power window relay. The power window switch works by closing and opening contacts on each door's circuit, and are connected via wiring harnesses to the power window motors. When you push the switch one way, it closes the appropriate circuit to move the window up or down. If you are unable to roll one or all of the windows up or down, your power windows only if you use the master control switch panel, or your windows only roll up and down intermittently, a bad power window switch may be to blame. These problems could also be caused by a blown fuse, a bad relay, loose connections, or a bad power window motor. You might need to inspect the power window motor and regulator assembly in addition to the power window switch, because signs of failure in all of these components can be similar. The driver side power switch sometimes called the master power window switch controls all 4 power windows as well as the door locks, right and left side power windows, and window lock. When your factory switch fails you may lose control over one of these systems. Dodge Journey auto windows not working, how to reset

Your Dodge Journey may be equipped with auto power windows feature, which automatically opens and closes the windows with one press of corresponding switch. If a window doesn’t fully close in auto mode, you may need to reset it.

The most common cause for auto windows not working in Dodge Journey is when the 12 volt battery has been replaced or disconnected. The power windows still function, but you have to manually hold the switch to fully close or open the windows. In this case, performing a reset procedure should restore the auto functionality.

Reset Procedure

• Start your Journey.
• Close all the doors and windows.
• Open the window by pressing and holding the window control switch. When the window is fully open, keep the switch pressed for a few seconds.
• Close the window by lifting and holding the window control switch. When the window is fully closed, keep the switch held for a few seconds.

Note: Repeat the procedure if the window does not automatically close with one press of the switch. If it still doesn’t work, repeat the procedure without starting the engine and the ignition in ON position. To turn on the ignition in vehicles with start/stop button, press the button without pressing the brake pedal.

Reset Procedure 2

If the above reset instructions do not work for your Journey, then this alternate method may work.

• Close all windows and doors.
• Open the window by pressing and holding the window control switch. When the window is fully open, keep the switch pressed for a few seconds. Release the switch, then press it again and hold it for a few seconds.
• Close the window by lifting and holding the window control switch. When the window is fully closed, keep the switch held for a few seconds. Release the switch, then pull it upward again and hold it.
• The one-touch up and down features will then be fully functional.

Note: If the window still doesn’t automatically close in your Journey, repeat the procedure without starting the engine and the ignition in ON position. To turn on the ignition in vehicles with start/stop button, press the button without pressing the brake pedal.

Window bounce back midway

Dodge Journey has a power window pinch protection feature which can reduce the risk of being pinched and injured when the windows are closing. If the window cannot close due to resistance or an obstacle, then the window will reopen immediately.

Lubricate the window

If the window in your Journey bounce back midway after following the reset procedure, the window may be sticking due to high resistance in the window frame. In this case, apply some water resistant silicone lubricant to the side edges of the window. Wipe the excess spray off with a cloth or paper towel to prevent any damage to the paint or the interior.

Window bounce back after fully closing

If the window bounce back and reopens after fully closing with one press, it means the auto window feature needs to be reprogrammed. Follow the reset procedure to fully restore the functionality.

How to operate auto power windows

The one-touch opening and closing function in Dodge Journey allows the windows to be completely opened or closed with one press of the switch. To use this feature, do not hold the window switch up or down.

• To start the one-touch closing function, pull the window switch upward briefly to the second level.
• To start the one-touch opening function, press the window switch downward briefly to the second level.
• To stop the one-touch opening or closing function, pull or press the switch for that window again.

Safety warning

Careless or unintended use of the power windows in your Journey can cause serious injuries.

• Do not open or close the power windows if anyone is in the way.
• Never leave children or people requiring assistance unattended in your Journey when the vehicle is locked. The windows cannot open in an emergency situation.
• Always take all vehicle keys with you when leaving the vehicle. The windows can still be opened or closed using the switches in the doors for a brief period after the ignition has been switched off, as long as the driver’s or front passenger door is not opened.

Auto windows not working in Dodge Journey is a fairly common problem and should be expected when disconnecting or replacing the 12 volt battery. You do not need to visit a workshop to restore the auto functionality, just reprogram them with provided instructions.

I have a 2017 Journey SXT and the driver window will not go up or down. It buzzes when you activate the switch, either way, but it makes a much faster buzzing when you try to lower it. I work for an auto glass company, so I'm very familiar with windows. I have taken the motor out and plugged it into the passenger side, and it worked just fine. I also bought another used switch that was tested good, and it did the same thing. All other buttons work, all other windows and locks work. 

I have a wiring problem. The motor does not try to actuate, so I dont think it has anything to do with the regulator. I think I have a lower voltage going to the driver switch, or maybe a bad ground. I just need some help. I know windows, regulators, but not wiring. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It has been stuck at about 1/2 inch down for months now and my wife is getting annoyed obviously. Thank you in advance!

earlier journeys had problems with the wires breaking in the rubber boot between the door and the fender well might be something wrong there,,,good luck    i am sure others will chime in as well with other info

Seems odd that wiring would fail on such a new vehicle. Same for the motor. In either case, yes it is possible.

Given the fact that you are getting a buzzing sound, and you have tested the motor, are you sure you do not have a bind in the window? Maybe something small in between the window and the seal along the bottom? Just a thought.

Still under warranty?

I had a 1993 Grand Cherokee for quite a few years, drivers door  window stopped working at 200k.

Drivers door  gets more cycles so it often fails first.

If I gently flexed door   harness with door open, sometimes it started working again. This also confirmed where failure was. Eventually $5 of solder, multi strand wire and heat shrink fixed problem.  You could activate  window switch with plug removed from  motor   and see what voltage you are getting. The buzzing could be low voltage from frayed  door  harness.  Switch  will need to be removed from  door cover to plug back into harness.
