About Krabi and the Four Islands

Island hopping in Krabi is super fun. One of the best ways to get involved in this adventure is to book yourself onto a tour of the four nearby islands just off the coast — arguably one of the popular tours in the area.

Named Koh Poda, Chicken Island, Koh Tub, and Koh Mor, these four little land masses are pieces of paradise, boasting pristine beaches, snorkelling spots galore and all the beautiful scenery you’d expect.

We were staying in Railay Beach , one of the most famous beaches in Thailand, but personally we found that the beaches of Four Islands were considerably prettier than Railay Beach.

The sand is whiter, the water is clearer and the surrounding nature is wilder, more untouched. They’re gorgeous islands, just waiting to be discovered!

Four Islands Tour Overview

There are lots of companies that offer the chance to embark on the famed Krabi Four Islands tour . Most of these tours offer the same sorts of things, but sometimes in different orders and in slight variations.

All tours usually include pick-up and drop-off from your hotel, lunch, drinks on the boat and snorkelling equipment.

They might visit them in different orders, but on any four islands tour in Krabi, you’ll be guaranteed stops at the following spots in the Krabi Archipelago.

This island, known for its stunning beaches and super clear water, lies just off the coast of Krabi. It’s actually the largest of the four islands and is a super dreamy spot to drop anchor and explore for a while.

The white sand beaches lapped by turquoise seas are the main draw here, but you can’t discount the vibrant coral reef teeming with life just offshore — don’t forget your snorkelling gear!

You won’t get high-end bars or development here, it’s just a rustic place to kick back and enjoy the scenery.

Koh Tub & Koh Mor

The twin islands of Koh Tub (also Koh Tup – or Tup Island and Tub Island in English) and Koh Mor are two tiny slivers of land linked by a sandbar.

Called Talay Waek, this cool sandbar only reveals itself properly at low tide and can actually be walked across by visitors on the four islands tour.

Koh Tub itself is surrounded by typically sparkling waters that brim with tropical fish and colourful corals, attracting tourists from around the world; Koh Mor is equally as stunning, but feels even more remote than its neighbour.

Chicken Island

Chicken Island (Koh Kai in Thai) may seem like a weird name, but it’s actually because this island boasts a cool rock formation shaped like a chicken.

Lying just south of Koh Poda, it is also connected by a sandbar to Koh Mor and Koh Tub, making these three islands almost like one connected landmass.

When the tide is low, you can walk the Y-shaped sandbar between all three. It’s a unique stop-off on the tour for this reason, but also it’s a chance to snap pics of the rock formation (obviously).

Koh Kai also has a few facilities, like toilets and a beach bar or two, so you can grab a snack to eat if you’re feeling peckish.

The Other Side of Chicken Island (and Koh Poda)

On the other side of Chicken Island, opposite to the shore where the sandbar connects, is where you’ll find the eponymous rock formation itself jutting out of the limestone cliffs.

You can also see smaller islets that dot the sea here, like Koh Khom, as well as some colourful marine life offshore.

Likewise, the other side of Koh Poda is a wilder, less crowded portion of the island known for its not-so-hidden but still not very busy Secret Beach.

Some tours will take you to these lesser-visited sides of each island.

Phra Nang Cave Beach

Part of Railay peninsula, right on the southern tip opposite Koh Rang Nok, lies Phra Nang cave beach. This scenic spot is a popular place for the four island tour to end.

It’s not just picturesque: The cave is actually home to a shrine dedicated to the deity Phra Nang, goddess of fertility, which is decorated with stone phalluses of different shapes and sizes.

Since there is now a line of buoys to prevent boats from docking on Phra Nang Cave Beach, I don’t think any of the tours stop at this beach. They just cruise past it to show you the cool rock formations.

The 7 Island Tour  Krabi

As I mentioned earlier, every Krabi four island tour package varies from the next one, but they all go to the same places.

If you want to do something different, there’s actually a seven islands tour , which obviously includes stops at three extra islands, plus a BBQ dinner at sunset, which is pretty cool.

Beyond the classic Koh Poda, Koh Kai, Koh Tub and Koh Mor, the Seven Islands tour also includes stops at Koh Yawasam, Koh Tan Ming and Koe Raeng.

Here you’ll find slightly less people, as most travellers stick to the four islands tour, which will give you the opportunity to enjoy beautiful beaches and snorkelling spots all to yourself.

It’s a great option if you want an all-day activity. The four island boat tours usually only take up half a day, but if you’re ready to spend a whole day at sea, this is the tour for you!

Krabi: Phi Phi Sunrise & 4 Islands by Speedboat with Lunch

The Phi Phi Islands may be quite far away, but you can get there thanks to a tour by a zippy speedboat.

This tour may start early (and it’s a long day), but it begins with a trip to Phi Phi for an incredible sunrise, and then whisks you to the famous four islands — via Maya Bay (famous as the location of The Beach ).

It’s pricier than just doing a four islands tour, but that’s because you’re basically getting two trips in the same tour! A day trip to Phi Phi , and your classic 4 Islands tour in Krabi.

It’s a great option for those who have a tight Thailand itinerary , so that you can see more in less time. It also includes lunch in Phi Phi Don, plus pick-up and drop-off from your Krabi hotel.

Krabi: 4 Islands Day Trip by Speedboat Including Lunch Box

While many of the tours of Krabi’s four islands take place on longtail boats, this tour one speeds things up by allowing you to jump aboard a speedboat.

I included this tour as I wanted to include a speedboat option, but to be entirely honest, I would suggest a long-tail boat tour over a speedboat one.

The four islands aren’t far from Railay Beach, so even with a long-tail boat, it won’t take long to reach them. Plus, you’ll have a more traditional Thai experience.

But if you have your heart set on a speedboat, then this tour is the best choice. You’ll travel in style to the four islands, and it also includes lunch on the beach.

Railay: 4 Islands Sunset & Night Snorkel Boat Tour

This option really adds value to the four island tour.

Beyond the classic four islands, this tour also includes Railay Beach, specifically Ao Nang, with its amazing diving spots to glimpse an array of underwater tropical life.

You’ll get to see a sunset and even do a spot of night snorkelling, to see bioluminescent plankton. An unforgettable experience.

Krabi: Private Long Tail Boat to the 4 Islands

If you want to keep things private, this private long-tail boat is a great option. Since I was travelling to Railay Beach with my family we opted for a private 4 Islands tour, and we couldn’t have made a better choice.

Having a private boat will give you more flexibility, allowing you to change the order of your stops from the classic tour, so as to visit each stop while the crowds are somewhere else.

Plus you’ll be able to spread out on the boat, and not be squished next to strangers. Like all the tours, it includes pick-up and drop-off, lunch and drinks.

Krabi: Private 4 Islands & Sunset Dinner Luxury Speedboat

If a private tour isn’t enough, and you really want to splurge, this is the tour for you. You’ll do all the usual four islands stops, but on a luxury speedboat all to yourself.

Plus, add to it dinner with sunset over the ocean, and you have a magical travel bucket list experience ready. It’s perfect for special occasions or groups of friends who can split the cost.

Our experience doing a 4 islands tour in Krabi

I was in Thailand with my parents and little sister, so we decided to opt for a private tour. It was the best decision we could have made, as it gave us more privacy and flexibility.

We didn’t book it until we arrived in Railay Beach, from one of the many tourist stands located on the main road of Railay Beach.

This was a bit risky, since we were there over New Years, and many of the boats were already booked out. However, since we were there for a week we had quite a lot of flexibility on dates.

If you’re not spending long in Krabi, it might be better if you book your 4 islands tour online beforehand. That way you don’t risk missing out, plus you’ll be able to see reviews from other travellers.

Our four islands tour was super smooth and enjoyable. We were picked up from Railay East Pier, and taken directly to the beautiful four islands.

The crystal clear water of Koh Poda in Krabi, Thailand

We started with a long stop in Koh Poda, at a lovely white sandy beach with crystal clear water, before making our way to a snorkelling stop close to the sandbar of Koh Tub and Koh Mor.

In theory there is an entrance fee to the national park of the islands of Krabi, but our skipper was cheeky and told us that if we just snorkelled in the middle of the sea, without going to shore, we wouldn’t have to pay it.

We then sailed past Chicken Island, admiring the rock formations that give it its name. My favourite stop was actually the beach we visited on Koh Kai, as it had crystal clear water and we had it all to ourselves.

Our final stop was once again Koh Poda (or Poda Island), but on the back side in a little cove with only a couple other boats.

Overall it was a very enjoyable day, and one of the highlights of our Thailand itinerary . If you’re planning a Krabi itinerary, I highly suggest adding a four islands tour to it.

Where to stay for your Krabi Four Islands tour

In my opinion, the best place to stay in Krabi is Railay Beach, and more so if you plan to do the four islands tour. Railay Beach is a super chilled town, with one main street, lots of bars, restaurants and a laid-back vibe.

Plus, most of the tours that set off from Ao Nang or Ao Nam Mao will do a stop in Railay Beach to pick up other travellers, so you get to sleep more and start later if you stay in Railay Beach!

Here are the best places to stay in Railay Beach for every budget.

Budget: Railay Viewpoint Resort   – This budget option is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main road, and it’s a great for those who want spacious rooms and a pool with view for an affordable price.

Mid-range: Railay Princess Resort & Spa   – This is where we stayed for a week and really enjoyed it. The property is clean, the rooms spacious, it offers a lovely breakfast buffet, has a great pool with view and is in an easy position close to East Railay Pier and the main street.

Luxury: Rayavadee   – If you want to treat yourself, this is the place to do so! Located in Phra Nang Beach (the only hotel there) this luxury property offers gorgeous private villas nestled in nature.

What to pack for your 4 Island tour in Krabi

For a full breakdown of what you should pack for Thailand, check out my Thailand packing list . Here I just included a few essentials that you will need for your four islands boat trip.

Waterproof jacket – If you visit in rainy season, you’ll be glad to have one of these!

Fast drying towel – There’s a lot of swimming and lounging on beaches involved in these boat tours, so make sure to have one of these! I love these because they dry quickly and they don’t take up much space.

Power bank – You don’t want your phone to die on you just as you’re about to snap a gorgeous photo of the crystal clear water of Koh Poda!

Dry bag – To keep your valuables safe and dry from any rogue water splashes during your boat trip.

Final thoughts on doing a 4 Islands tour Krabi

There you have it, the ultimate guide to doing a Krabi four islands tour! Have you been to Krabi before? How did you find it? Let me know in the comments below!

I’ve been to Thailand four times, and yet this was my first time visiting Krabi. I can confidently say it was one of my favourite places in Thailand, especially Railay Beach and its surroundings.

We spent a week in Railay Beach, and loved its chilled and laid-back atmosphere. Plus, the fact that from here you can go island hopping to gorgeous beaches is a great addition!

On previous trips to Thailand I visited other pristine beaches like Koh Lipe , the Surin Islands , Phi Phi Islands and Similan Islands , but I find that the four islands in Krabi beat them all.

They might not be as famous for scuba diving , but they’re still pretty beautiful, and the fact that they’re so close to shore (30 minutes by long-tail boat compared to the 2-hour speedboat required to get to the Similan Islands), makes them all the more appealing.

I hope you found this guide on the best four island tours in Krabi useful, and that it helps you choose the perfect tour for you! If you have any questions, just let me know in the comments below.

If you’re traveling to Krabi, Thailand, odds are you’ll be looking to book one or more Krabi island tours while you’re there. And rightfully so – this whole region is just begging to be explored by boat with 200 or so islands around.

There are 3 main types of Krabi island tours:

  • 4 Islands (very close to Ao Nang, Krabi Town, Railay)
  • Phi Phi Islands (halfway between Ao Nang/Krabi Town/Railay and Phuket)
  • James Bond Island / Phang Nga Bay (close to Phuket)

Having visited Krabi twice now and sampled all 3 types of Krabi island tours, I can tell you that they are ALL fantastic and worthwhile. Do all 3 if you can. And if you can’t, then read on and see which appeals to you more :)

krabi island tours

If you’re soon to be Krabi-bound, I have a few very important tips for you:

  • Base yourself in Ao Nang. Is it the nicest place to stay in Krabi, no – but it’s the most convenient if you’re doing boat trips around Krabi. Pretty much all tours pick up and drop off in Ao Nang. If you’re staying in Railay or Krabi Town, you will likely have to make your own way to Ao Nang (whether it’s by bus or taxi from Krabi Town, or long tail boat from Railay). Some Krabi island tours may include pick-up from Railay, but it’s often an additional charge.
  • If your Krabi trip is more than a few days: stay in Ao Nang for the first part of your Krabi trip while you do your boat tours, then stay in Railay for the last part of your trip and chill. This is what I did on my most recent trip to Krabi and it was 1000000% the right move.
  • Book your Krabi island tours ahead of time online. Sure, you could wing it and just book the cheapest options in town when you get there. But don’t be surprised when you end up in a huge group with guides that hardly speak English and make no efforts to avoid the crowds.

I’m all for being spontaneous and waiting til the last possible minute to commit to a plan, but I feel very strongly that it’s best to book your Krabi island tours before you arrive there. That way you can read the reviews, check the itineraries, and ensure that you’re actually booking a quality tour.

And lucky for you, I’ve done all the research and testing for you! That’s right, the very best Krabi island tours are highlighted below in this blog post. They are all very highly rated and bound to guarantee you an excellent time out around the islands.

Krabi 4 Islands Tour

If you can only book one Krabi island tour while visiting Ao Nang, Krabi, or Railay, let it be the 4 Islands Tour.

Why? Because most other Krabi island tours you can do from Phuket, as those islands are closer to it. But the 4 islands are further away from Phuket, and they’re much easier to access from Ao Nang or Railay (all within a 20-30 minute boat ride).

Not to mention, the 4 islands are flippin’ gorgeous!

krabi 4 island islands tours

The Krabi 4 Islands Tours stop at:

  • Chicken Island (Koh Gai) – An island with a limestone rock formation shaped like a chicken head (it’s easily viewed from the water, so doesn’t necessarily require a dedicated stop)
  • Tup Island (Koh Tup) – An island connected to two others by sandbar at low tide. It’s got beautiful crystal clear water for swimming.
  • Poda Island (Koh Poda) – Has a beautiful and expansive white sand beach with picturesque views of limestone rock formations protruding from the water. The best spot for sunbathing.
  • Railay – Technically not an island, but is only accessible by boat so feels like one :) Typically stops at Phra Nang Beach (one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Thailand!) and cave.

krabi 4 islands tour

Though all of the 4 Islands Tours from Krabi stop at the same islands in varying order, the most common itinerary has an early afternoon start and finishes up with sunset on Phra Nang Beach in Railay, followed by a swim with the bio luminescence (phosphorescent plankton) nearby once it starts getting dark. A handful of tours may opt to start early to avoid the crowds, and finish earlier without the sunset or plankton swim.

Here are the best 4 Islands Tours from Krabi:

4 Islands Tour with Thalassa

The Thalassa 4 Islands Tour stops at the aforementioned four islands, plus Koh Sii: an island slightly further from the Krabi coast that offers excellent snorkeling. It ends with sunset at Railay and night snorkeling, as many similar tours do.

This is supposedly the only Krabi 4 Islands Tour done by speedboat (most use a traditional longtail boat instead, which is slower and less comfortable). That means less time spent in transit and more time spent on the islands! (And it’s how they’re able to stop at Koh Sii as well, which would be too far away for a longtail boat tour to fit in).

krabi 4 islands tour

Thalassa tours are marketed as “semi-private”, which essentially means that they have smaller groups on board and provide a high touch experience to guests which makes it FEEL like a semi-private tour.

It’s also worth noting that Thalassa also offers a different version of this tour with an eco focus (though as of June 2023, it’s not being offered). I’m not sure if or when their 4 Islands Eco Tour will return, but it runs from 9am-5pm, swaps out the sunset and night snorkeling for a beach cleanup instead, and is half the price of the regular 4 Islands Tour.

5 Island Sunset Cocktail Cruise with Krabi Sunset Cruises

Yes, you read that right – it’s 5 islands instead of 4!

This sunset cruise skips Koh Tup and stops instead at two small islands just off the coast of Railay (along with Poda Island, Chicken Island, and Railay). Though technically , this tour doesn’t actually stop *at* the islands but rather, close to them – so if being able to step onto each island and take lots of photos there is important to you, this may not be the Krabi 4 Islands tour for you.

Instead, Krabi Sunset Cruises uses an old junk (aka a pirate ship) with huge sails for its tours. This tour centers more around the epic boat than the islands: it’s all about relaxing on the deck with a drink, jumping off the top level, and paddling around the islands with a kayak or stand-up paddleboard (if you feel like it). It’s less of a tour, and more of an experience.

Like many of the other Krabi 4 Islands Tours, this one ends with sunset at Railay and a bio luminescence swim after dark.

phi phi island tours

Phi Phi Island Tour

The Phi Phi islands are an absolute must-do for anyone visiting Phuket… but did you know that you can book Phi Phi island tours from Krabi as well?

Yup it’s true! Koh Phi Phi is actually about halfway between Phuket and Krabi, which means travel time is nearly the same no matter which location you depart from.

So if you’re planning a trip to Krabi, you should definitely consider Phi Phi as one of your Krabi island tours to book!

krabi island tours

The Phi Phi islands need no introduction, because odds are you’ve seen the photos or watched The Beach. Maya Bay is the runaway star of the islands, home to a beach so beautiful that its image will be forever seared in your mind. You’re not allowed to swim here anymore, but you can walk in up to your knees.

And there are several other worthwhile places to see around the islands, from stunning lagoons to epic snorkeling spots to picturesque beaches (where you CAN swim). Just know that no matter when and where you go around Koh Phi Phi, there WILL be other people around – it’s a very popular area, with little that’s off the beaten track – but for good reason!

phi phi island tour

Most Phi Phi island tours stop at:

  • Maya Bay – A stunning white sand beach encircled by limestone cliffs, made famous by The Beach.
  • Pi Leh Bay (Lagoon) – A deep blue-colored lagoon often filled with boats. There’s not really anywhere to land in the lagoon, so visitors tend to either party on their boat or swim just off of it.
  • Monkey Beach – If you want to see wild monkeys, this is the place (though they are known to steal things from visitors, and can get aggressive). The beach is a short walk from the bay where your boat will stop, but you can usually spot monkeys climbing the rocks around the bay without having to leave the boat.
  • Viking Cave – A very cool-looking cave you can peek into while passing by on the boat. Around the corner is an excellent snorkeling spot.
  • Bamboo Island – A very popular place where you can hang out on the white sand beach and swim. It’s easy to avoid the crowds just by walking further down the beach, away from where the boats anchor. It’s also a good spot to have lunch (many tour groups do when they stop here).

Here are the best Phi Phi Islands Tours from Krabi:

Koh Phi Phi Tour with Thalassa

Thalassa also runs a semi-private (small group) tour to the Phi Phi islands (I believe the max is 16 guests?). There’s more of a focus on snorkeling with this particular tour, and depending on conditions, there will be multiple opportunities to snorkel.

The Koh Phi Phi Tour is their most popular tour and it’s extremely highly rated on TripAdvisor, so you really can’t go wrong with this one. Note that there is an extra charge if you’re not staying in Ao Nang and need to be picked up/dropped off at Railay or Krabi town.

Phi Phi + 4 Islands Tour with Krabi Ezy Trails

One excellent reason to book a Phi Phi Island tour from Krabi instead of Phuket is that there are some tours that add on additional island stops on the way there and back, which gives you more bang for your buck.

Krabi Ezy Trails offers a combo Phi Phi + 4 Islands Tour, ideal for anyone who might not have time or money to book the two separate tours, or for those prone to seasickness who want to limit the amount of time they spend on boats. The latter is definitely me, which was my main reason for booking this tour.

I’m very happy with that decision and I absolutely LOVED this experience! Also happy to report that not once did I feel rushed, despite having so many stops to cover on this tour. It felt like just enough time to enjoy each location. And I didn’t get seasick!

It’s also worth mentioning that this is not a small group tour like Thalassa’s. Our group had ~25 people in it, which didn’t feel like too much.

phi phi island tour

This Phi Phi island tour is marketed as an “Early Bird – Avoid The Crowds” tour, but it’s important to set appropriate expectations for what exactly this means.

Yes, this tour starts earlier than most (if not all) other tours to Phi Phi islands, but it doesn’t go straight to Maya Bay. The boat stops at another island on the way (Koh Tup) for breakfast, then arrives at Maya Bay just before 9am when plenty of others are already there. But it ended up being fine because the earlier you get there, the more water will be covered in shadows and not looking electric blue like you see in photos. And the later you get there, the more crowded it gets. Maya Bay at 9am seemed to be the best balance between the two variables.

And yes, Krabi Ezy Trails does its best to avoid the crowds… but c’mon, this is Phi Phi, an extremely popular tourist spot. There’s really no *avoiding* the crowds, just minimizing them, which this tour did as much as possible.

krabi island tours

Since there are more stops on this tour vs. a regular Phi Phi island tour from Krabi, be ready for a LONG day of aquatic adventuring! The boat leaves Ao Nang at 7am, which means you’ll get picked up from your hotel even earlier than that. We returned around 5pm (though it says 4pm on their website), making it a solid 10 hours in the Thai heat. If you’re someone who’s sensitive to hot weather and the sun, you may want to opt for a shorter tour instead of this one (though there’s plenty of undercover seating on the boat and shady spots on some of the islands).

phang nga bay tours

Phang Nga Bay / James Bond Island Tour

A boat trip around Phang Nga Bay is an absolute MUST-DO if you’re in Phuket or Krabi.

James Bond Island (Koh Tapu) is the most well known of the many picturesque islands in the bay; it just happens to be the most well known, thanks to appearing in a James Bond movie. Consequently, many Phang Nga Bay tours will be marketed as James Bond Island tours.

On James Bond Island there’s a man-made beach that swarms with tourists, so if massive crowds don’t appeal to you, you might want to look for James Bond Island tours that don’t actually stop at the island. Both of the tours I recommend below don’t stop at James Bond Island, but you’ll be able to see it and take photos as your boat passes by.

Also note that Phang Nga Bay is much further afield, which is why you won’t find too many tours to this area operating out of Krabi. There are many more options for James Bond Island tours from Phuket, which cruise around Phang Nga Bay by speedboat, catamaran, or larger boat, depending on the operator.

phang nga bay tour

Hong Island is another landmark in Phang Nga Bay. It actually merits its own dedicated tour, that’s how incredible it is – but it’s often an included stop on the James Bond Island tours, so it’s like a 2-for-1 special if you book it.

Hong Island is blessed with a lovely lagoon, one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand, and a ridiculously impressive viewpoint some 200+ steps above. It is understandably very busy during the day, and less so early morning or late afternoon. It’s likely that a James Bond Island tour won’t stop at all of these locations around Hong Island, so pay close attention to the tour itinerary and make sure whatever tour you book includes the locations you want to see.

krabi island tours

There are dozens (hundreds?) of other islands around Phang Nga Bay, some of which you’ll cruise past, swim off of, or land on. There are limestone cliffs and rock formations everywhere you look out here: truly, the journey is the best part of any James Bond Island tour.

Many James Bond Island tours include an option for canoeing or kayaking, and there are a few where paddling is the main focus of the tour. I recommend booking a tour where you at least have the option to try it even if it’s not the focus, because it is an extremely cool experience paddling into the hongs (Thai for “rooms”; in this case, the hongs are more like enclosed pools) around Phang Nga Bay. Hong Island is only one of them!

James Bond Island / Phang Nga Bay tours often stop at:

  • James Bond Island
  • Hong Island
  • Panak Island
  • Koh Panyi floating village

James Bond Island Tour with Thalassa

The James Bond Island Tour was the tour I elected to do with Thalassa on my recent trip to Krabi. Unlike the 4 Islands Tours and Phi Phi Tours, this one has a completely unique itinerary, visiting locations that no other tours stop at. You’ll be dropped off on islands with completely empty beaches, and avoid the crowds at the more popular stops. It’s Robinson Crusoe vibes to the MAX.

krabi island tour

Very few tours to James Bond Island run from Krabi because it’s quite a distance to cover. Thalassa makes it worth the journey by incorporating several stops along the way, plus they’re able to travel faster with a speedboat. It didn’t feel like too much time in transit at all, so don’t worry about it taking too long to get there.

They stop the boat close to James Bond Island and allow plenty of time for photos (complete with James Bond movie music + photo props!). We also had lunch at a secluded spot on Koh Yao Noi, snorkelled off of a random island with red rock, and swam off of another island with incredible views and gorgeous white sand. Like the other Thalassa tours, this one is also semi-private: our group felt small and personalized with about 15 guests, and we had plenty of room to spread out around the boat.

krabi island tour

Later in the day, once the crowds dissipated, we cruised around Hong Island lagoon, then went around to its stunning beach for one final swim. You can opt to hike up to the Hong Island viewpoint at this time, which I strongly suggest doing even if the humidity + the hundreds of stairs sound like a nightmare. The view of Phang Nga Bay and Hong Island beach from up here is PHENOMENAL.

Hong by Starlight Tour with John Gray’s Sea Canoe

It may be strange to include a tour that doesn’t run from Krabi, and may or may not include James Bond Island, in this blog post – but I did this Hong by Starlight Tour 8 years ago and it still stands as one of my favorite travel experiences ever, so how could I not?

So yes, John Gray’s Hong by Starlight tour departs from Phuket, not Krabi. It does not stop at James Bond Island, and there is no mention of it in the tour itinerary; however, on my tour we definitely paddled near it (close enough to take pictures), and some recent TripAdvisor reviews mention seeing James Bond Island (though some also mention NOT seeing it). I suspect that depending on conditions, you may or may not get to paddle close to James Bond Island, so it’s not a selling point of this tour.

But trust me when I say that it doesn’t matter! James Bond Island may get all the glory, but it’s just one of many pretty islands in Phang Nga Bay. No matter where you end up going on this tour, you’re gonna see some epic landscapes and enjoy some memorable adventures.

phang nga bay tour

If you are dead set on seeing James Bond Island, you can book one of John Gray’s James Bond Island tours – they run one in the morning and one later in the day. However, I HIGHLY advise booking the the Hong by Starlight Tour instead.

With this Phang Nga Bay tour, you get a full day of adventuring on a big boat, featuring a few kayaking excursions around the hongs and islands in “sea canoes”, which are essentially inflatable kayaks. You learn just how crucial the inflatable aspect is when you’re paddling through some very tight caves that require you to deflate the kayak a bit, lean back, and get as low as you can. Thankfully for these paddle sessions, you’ll be paired with a guide who will take care of it all for you. It’s a VERY cool and unique experience, something you’re unlikely to experience anywhere else on your travels.

phang nga bay tour

Then later in the day, you’ll make a “kratong” out of flowers and banana leaves and release it out into the sea after sunset, and paddle through phosphorescent plankton that appear as glowing blue dots underwater.

Pin this post for later!

Thailand is already one of the most internationally recognized laid back countries in the world.

Then you visit Krabi, a coastal province in Thailand, and you realize that life can always get more chill.

Krabi boasts stark limestone mountains to gawk up at, glittering white sand beaches to lie on, cheap and easy food and transportation, and islands. Dozens and dozens of islands rest off the coast of Krabi.

You could spend an entire year simply Krabi island hopping exploring the wide variety of beauty and complexity among these islands.

But, you probably don’t have a whole year, so let me break down the best Krabi island tours you can take with what time you do have.

Krabi Island Tours:

Tours are literally the only way you’ll get to see the islands around Krabi. Unless you’ve brought your boat over, that is? Below are well-recommended tours to the nearby islands in the Krabi province.

If you want to book things ahead of time, worry less while you’re here, and have everything set and sorted, these are the tours to book.

However, if you’re a bit more adventurous, there is one other option I have to tell you about. You COULD walk up to a longtail boat, hope the boatman speaks OK English, and ask for a private tour of islands.

Using this method may be a bit more expensive if you’re only a couple but if you have a group of friends it would probably only be a few bucks more each.

Krabi islands

You’d need to bring your own lunch and you’d need to make sure your communication was clear from the beginning as to which islands you want to visit.

It’s not necessarily the easiest option, and if you’re on a time crunch I wouldn’t recommend it (you may have to wait until the next day after speaking with him) but it’s an option I had to share nonetheless!

This is easily the most popular Krabi island tour you will take while in the province.

You get to ride in a speedboat or a long tail boat to visit two iconic islands, Koh Gai (Chicken Island) and Koh Poda, and two lesser-known islands, Koh Mor and Koh Tub, before lunch.

Chicken Island has what closely resembles a giant chicken head rising from one coast.

Here, you can enjoy the white sand beaches, grab a snack at a small restaurant, and you may be able to “walk on water” to Koh Tub.

When the tide is low, the ocean recedes, and a land bridge appears that connects Chicken Island to Koh Tub.

So the first part of your day will be spent snorkeling in clear water and possibly walking across that exposed land bridge. Otherwise, you can arrive safely in any boat.

Krabi Poda island hopping

Then after a lovely lunch provided for you, you’ll explore the Phra Nang Cave Beach in the afternoon.

Krabi snorkeling and cave exploring all in one day.

A day underwater! This tour takes you first to Rok Noi island to snorkel underwater or swim off the white sand beaches. Then you get to gorge yourself on a Thai buffet that comes with the tour, on the beach no less.

Long tail boat at Ko Rok Noi on a Krabi island tour

Finally, you’ll head over to Coral Islands to swim through coral reef and check out the sea life in the reef.

You can pick and choose whether you snorkel or swim, and you can revel in the last of the untouched beaches off the coast of Krabi.

Krabi snorkeling and Krabi island hopping combine for adventure and peace at the same time.

Take a speedboat just twenty minutes from Ao Nang to spend the day in the most beautiful tropical middle of nowhere island you can imagine.

Boat near Hong Island on a Krabi island tour

Koh Hong is actually a series of four connected islands, and you get to head right to the middle of it all to swim in relative seclusion.

A turquoise blue lagoon sits serenely amid cliffs and shores just waiting for you to splash and bask in the sun.

You can get some Krabi snorkeling in while you’re at it if you like. This is the most chill of the Krabi Island Tours you’ll find.

The Phi Phi Islands may be the most famous stop for Krabi Island tours . You’ll visit Maya Beach, which is where Leonardo DiCaprio brooded and adventured in the movie “The Beach.” So if you’ve got a thing for Leo, as most of us do, you have to put Phi Phi on your Krabi island hopping itinerary.

Krabi island sea

And even if you don’t, you’ll still get to spend a day in a few different gorgeous bays, swimming and snorkeling to your heart’s content.

Speaking of movie sets, ever heard of James Bond? Yes. That James Bond.  This Krabi Island tour  will take you on a long tail boat or speedboat to Khao Phing Kan. By canoe you’ll get up close to the 20-meter-tall rock featured in “The Man with the Golden Gun”.

James Bond Island on a Krabi island tour

Then head out to a local floating village for lunch, visit the Raman Waterfalls and finally off to explore what has come to be called the “monkey cave,” the Suwa Kuhan Temple, which has fascinatingly been constructed inside a cave.

Talk about a Krabi island hopping whirlwind of a day.

Did I say whirlwind? How about a sunrise trip out to Maya Beach to pay homage to Leo before anyone else hits this super popular tourist spot? Then you can spend the rest of the day traipsing about among four more islands in a speedboat.

Aerial view of Koh Phi Phi Lee on a Krabi isand tour

On this Krabi island tour , you’ll explore Viking Cave and monkey beach. You’ll also meander around Koh Phi Phi Don, check out Chicken Island, and swim at Poda Island.

Phew, by the time you get back you’ll be ready for an evening at the spa.

ship on a beach in Krabi

Remember I said Hong Island was the ultimate chill experience? Well, if you want to switch it up a bit and add a bit of adrenaline, hop on this Krabi Island tour .

Sea kayak at Koh Hong Island on a Krabi island tour

You’ll take a long tail boat out to Hong Island, off board into a paddle boat, and paddle your way around the island, between giant rock walls and into the secluded lagoon area.

Then you just chill for a bit, maybe take a dip, or fall asleep on the beach, before you get back into the paddle boat to head back to your long tail ride.

Islands, bays, and caves all in one  Krabi island tour . Hard to beat. You’ll take a speedboat from Krabi over to Phang Nga Bay and check out some of the hundreds of islands that make up those 154 square miles of watery territory.

Limestone islands in Phang Nga Bay on a Krabi island tour

You’ll hit up James Bond Island, as well as Thalu Island to explore Lot Noi Cave. Next, it’s off to remote beach for a Thai buffet lunch.

Finally, swim and snorkel in the crystal blue waters before heading back to Krabi and your hotel. Krabi Island hopping at its best.

view of an island in Krabi against cloudy sky

A Krabi Island Tour that doesn’t involve an island? That’s right.

Long tail boat on a lake on a Krabi island tour

This one had to hit the Krabi island hopping itinerary because you’ll actually be driving inland to a stunning lake inside the Khao Sok National Park where you will board a long tail boat and cruise around the lake, take a hike in the lush green jungles and have lunch on floating bungalows.

So it’s an inland adventure that feels like an island adventure.

You see why it had to make the list?

  • Many of the boatmen won’t speak English or will speak very little. It’s unlikely you’ll be doing anything more than island hopping. There won’t really be any commentary. Nothing much beyond the name of the islands, where to snorkel, and when lunch is.
  • Don’t expect some beautiful and well-kept boat. You’ll most likely be riding on a simple long-tail boat. These are small wooden boats with a few benches, maybe a small cover, and that’s it. Yes, you may even see a tiny bit of water seeping in the boats, this is normal and most, if not all long-tail boats are like this.
  • Bring a snack if you’re a picky eater. A simple local lunch is usually provided on these tours, if you don’t like local food, bring something with you.
  • Bring extra water. It’s going to be hotter than you think.
  • DON’T do as the locals do. Being environmentally conscious starts with education and we all know how to behave. Sometimes, people in these lesser develop nations don’t get it because they were never educated about how to treat the envirnoment. Please don’t do as the locals do and bring your trash back with you on the trip. Sometimes they simply throw trash in the ocean, let it fly off the boat, or they leave it on the island, which will likely end up in the ocean later anyway.

Krabi islands

The tourist season in Krabi is traditionally November to mid-March, directly after monsoon season. Temperatures are super mild, and the sea is too. As someone planning multiple excursions to a variety of islands by boat, you want calm seas.

Mid-March to May is not a bad time to visit either. You’ll see a spike in temperatures and a gradual rise in humidity, but you’ll also get fewer tourists. I’m not a huge fan of crowds, so this works for me.

Finally, if you’re looking for super cheap and tourist free, monsoon season is the time to go.

But know that the seas can get unpredictable, violent, and deadly . This is a tourist area, and tourism means money, which also means some boat captains will, unfortunately, put lives at risk to make a livelihood. So just be weary during this time of year.

  • Sunscreen – There are points on this trip where you won’t have shade.
  • A hat – More sun protection!
  • Snorkel – One is provided if it’s a snorkeling tour but in case you like using your own, bring it. They usually only have cheap snorkels to use.
  • Power Charger – Don’t run out of battery! You’ll want all the pictures.
  • GoPro – The only good camera that will get you fun underwater pictures and the only camera you’ll want to bring as bringing your expensive one could be risky.
  • Sarong – I never travel with a towel, they are so bulky. Use your sarong to dry off, as a beach cover-up, and as a beach towel.
  • Flip-flops – Why have I seen people on these tours with regular shoes? Why….?

this is extremely helpful thank you. Unfortunately i suffer with travel sickness , i am ok if we are constantly moving and it isn’t to choppy. Are you able to recommend any of the above that wouldn’t be too bad on the old sea sickness ? It would be super helpful 🙂

Glad you found it helpful but I can’t really advise if you’d get sick or not, not sure how anyone could. Sea conditions change all the time, weather effects, the type of boat etc… And how am I supposed to know how sensitive you are? So many factors.

This covers all bases for a great trip!

Happy to hear it helped!

Visiting the Krabi “4 Islands”

Last updated on 30 March 2018 by Your Krabi

The “four islands” is a popular day trip from Ao Nang, taking in the group of islands closest to the coast – the ones that can be seen on the horizon from the beach. The four islands are Koh Poda, Koh Gai (Chicken Island), Koh Tub and Koh Mor; and the tour also stops off at the beautiful Phra Nang Cave Beach on the Railay peninsula. This beach, inaccessible by road, is considered to be one of the most beautiful strips of sand in the world – at least when it is not crowded with boats and people.

Koh Poda is famous for its white beaches and turquoise water; the huge rock in front of it (pictured above) has been featured on countless postcards, screeensavers and tourist brochures, so don’t miss the opportunity to snap your own photo memory here. The cruise around the “head” of Chicken Island, with the odd rocky outcrop that earned it its name also makes a good photo op. Fun fact: Chicken Island is really called “Axe Island” or Koh Hua Gwan; it was dubbed “the chicken island” by Krabi’s first tourists and the nickname stuck, although we think it actually looks more like a camel!

At low tide, the boat will stop between Chicken Island with the two tiny islands of Koh Mor and Koh Tub, where you will have the opportunity to walk along the sweeping three-pronged sandbar that links the three together. This is known in Thai as “thaleh waek” or “separated sea”. Note: there are a couple of days each month where a low tide stop is not possible, due to the tide times; in this case the sandbank will not be exposed, but you can still walk part of the way out into the sea, as below.

3 island tour krabi

Chicken Island and the top of the sandbar, seen from Koh Tub

There will also be a couple of stops at open water snorkelling sites, which could be near Koh Yawasam, a rocky outcrop with fairly intact coral reefs and decent marine life, or at the rear of Chicken Island, depending on the day. Snorkelling here is average due to years of heavy boat traffic.

The itinerary order varies throughout the month, so that – if possible – the sandbar can be reached at low tide. The day will also include a picnic lunch on one of the islands or beaches.

The 4 Islands tour is also sold as a sunset trip, often under the name “7 Islands Tour”, to differentiate it. They spend slightly more time cruising than on beaches, and include a few of the rock islands in the same area as part of the 7; essentially though, it covers the same area. This tour departs at lunchtime and arrives back around 8 or 9pm.

It is equally possible to visit the 4 Islands on your own with a chartered longtail boat from the beach. For more information on independent travel, please see our page on boat charter in Krabi . A 400 baht entry fee is levied by the National Park on all non-Thai visitors to Poda Island; this is due at the ranger station on the main beach. The ticket is valid for one day and covers your visit to all 4 of the islands.

EXAMPLE TOUR ITINERARIES

The available tours to the Krabi 4 Islands are listed below; click on the links to see full itinerary info. The tours can easily be booked on site at your hotel or in any agent on the street.

Please note: speedboat travel is not recommended for infants under 1 year old, pregnant women, or anyone with back problems or prone to seasickness, due to the bumpy ride.

The first time I went to Krabi years ago, I have to be honest, I was disappointed. Sure the beaches are absolutely stunning and the water crystal clear, but for some reason, I just didn’t enjoy it. Coming from Koh Samet , I don’t know if it was too touristy or if I just didn’t explore well enough.

When I got home I heard people praise the area and talk about all the beautiful places they had visited. I saw so many photos on social media that just didn’t match my experience.

So I decided to do something about it. I went back to Krabi and this time I treated myself to this gorgeous hotel , one of the best places to stay in Krabi . I also spent the first three days on guided tours . And it worked. The second time around I fell in love with the towering cliffs surrounded by fields of palm trees and turquoise water.

The stubborn traveler in me has always liked to explore places on my own at my own pace. However, I’ve found recently that I get so much value from joining guided tours when I first arrive, to get the lay of the land. Then I can go back and explore more thoroughly on my own.

It’s also a great way to meet other travelers that you can spend time with during the rest of your trip. Some of the people I’ve met on guided tours over the years have become good friends.

10 best tours in Krabi

Written by Ryan from  WaylessTravelers

Rock climber high up on a vertical cliff during a climbing tour in Krabi, Thailand.

When exploring Southern Thailand, we were fascinated by the countless beautiful beaches and the options for island hopping tours. However, if you are interested in an activity that will really get your heart pumping, then definitely check out rock climbing in Railay Beach, Krabi.

Railay is a small remote peninsula cut off from the mainland by its massive limestone cliffs. These cliffs attract rock climbers from all around the world and we were eager to experience this ourselves.

By joining this  rock climbing tour , we were picked up from the nearby town of Ao Nang and ferried over to Railay. From there, your guide will determine your rock climbing level and pick the ideal cliff for you to climb.

These limestone cliffs are perfect for rock climbing since their uneven formation provides an abundance of hand and foot holds. So even if you are an absolute beginner, this tour can be perfect for you!

We took the half-day tour and at first, were presented with easier routes. Once we got the hang of it, the guide brought us to another cliff face where I went to climb up about 40 feet in the air! The guides were cheering us on as we went higher and higher.

Other than the sheer thrill of scaling these limestone walls, the cherry on top is that you get an incredible view of the surrounding landscape!

Drone view of the Tiger Cave Temple with a large gold Buddha sitting above the treet tops in the jungle with rolling hills in the background. Seen during a fantastic tour in Krabi.

Normally I wouldn’t book a tour with Instagram in the name. But hear me out, this turned out to be one of my favorite tours I’ve ever done in Thailand.

Dew, my lovely English-speaking guide, picked me up from my hotel bright and early at 7:00 am. We got to the Emerald Pool about an hour later and had it all to ourselves for some time. It was absolutely stunning.

Then the tour continued to the Tiger Temple, a sacred site known for the tiger paw prints in the cave, tall Buddha statues and the strenuous hike up the stairs to reach the summit. I’m not in the best shape, but I still made it to the top. Dew was super patient and encouraged me along the way.

After a delicious lunch, we stopped at one of the most beautiful temples in Krabi, Wat Kaew Korawaram (up there with the temples of Chiang Mai ), before heading out on the water in a longtail boat to Phra Nang Cave and Railay Beach.

It was such an awesome day from start to finish. Dew isn’t only a knowledgeable guide but also a great photographer.

View of the white beach in Maya Bay (Phi Phi Islands) lined by greenery and towering cliffs with, during one of the best tours in Krabi.

If you ever find yourself in the tropical paradise of Krabi, then there is one guided tour that you cannot miss – a day tour to the Phi Phi Islands and Maya Bay.

The tour started early in the morning, and our mode of transport was a speedboat. The first stop was the famous Maya Bay, on Phi Phi Leh Island. This place has now become one of the  best things to do in Thailand after the famous movie “The Beach” starring Leonardo DiCaprio was filmed here.

No island tour was complete without enjoying some water activities. Our speedboat pulled into Phi Lee Bay, a bay that was surrounded by limestone cliffs. We jumped into the water and went for a swim and snorkel. We saw a ton of different fishes and corals, and our tour guide even said we could see leopard sharks, but we didn’t have any luck that day.

Around midday, we headed to Koh Phi Phi Don for a buffet lunch. It was a buffet-style lunch with a variety of delicious Thai food and international cuisine. It was much needed after a morning of activities.

After lunch, we visited Bamboo Island and Monkey Bay. Bamboo Island was perfect for sunbathing and more snorkeling, while Monkey Bay, true to its name, was home to a community of monkeys who seemed as curious about us as we were about them.

And finally, we headed back home on our speedboat, watching the gorgeous sunset dip behind the limestone mountains of the bay.

🐚 Pro tip >> This Phi Phi Islands tour starts at 8:00 am so you arrive at Maya Bay before the majority of other tourists.

Girl with long dark hair wearing a beige hat, blue bikini and white shirt standing at a viewpoint overlooking turquoise water and islets during a tour to Hong Island from Krabi.

Krabi is one of Thailand’s most popular beach destinations – for good reason! Sparkling turquoise waters and white sand beaches meet affordable cuisine and killer views in this sleepy Thai beach town. Whether you’re searching for culture, eats, or a great spot to sunbathe, a trip to Krabi is a welcome addition to any Thailand bucket list.

My friend and I visited Krabi in 2022 and we quite simply couldn’t get enough. When we weren’t stuffing our faces at the best Thai restaurants in Ao Nang , we were climbing almost 1,300 steps to the Tiger Cave Temple, sipping freshly made coconut smoothies on Railay Beach and embarking on day trips to the countless beautiful islands around Krabi.

One of our favorite day trips was this tour from Ao Nang to Hong Island . For only 40 USD/person (+ 300 baht for the national park fee), we got round-trip transportation from our hotel, transportation by longtail boat to multiple nearby islands, the use of snorkeling equipment, and a tasty lunch.

Our stop at Hong Island was the crowd favorite. We spent the most time there, bathing in the sparkling blue waters, climbing to the island’s highest viewpoint, and relaxing on the beautiful beach.

If you only have a few days in Krabi, I highly recommend taking this tour. The view of the limestone cliffs against the turquoise ocean is something I’ll never forget.

Kayaking on green water among the cliffs and mangroves, during one of the besr guided tours in Krabi, Thailand.

One of the best things we did during our trip to Thailand was to go kayaking through the mangrove forests in Krabi. This was an absolutely incredible experience; the forest was beautiful, we met some amazing people, and our guide was superb.

We did this as a combo tour with a dirt biking section as well, but I wasn’t overly impressed with the dirt biking part. It just felt like we were driving in circles and seemed a little silly. However, the kayaking was one of the highlights of our trip.

We booked our tour through a local tour guide in Krabi town, that way you can haggle with the tour guides and often get a better price. The guide then picked us up from our hotel near  Ao Nang , we changed into our life jackets and got into the kayaks.

The tour itself lasted about 2 hours. We sailed past beautiful cliff formations, waterlogged forests, and through a few beautiful lagoons. We even saw some wild monkeys! Our guide was able to explain all about the landscape, how the forest was formed, why the cliff faces were multi-colored, and about the wildlife that lives within the trees.

It was an incredible experience and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Krabi.

Best guided tours Krabi Thailand - View of the crystal clear emerald pool with mangrove roots and lush greenery.

This was another one of my favorite tours I did in Krabi, with a small group (we were only 5) and very knowledgeable guides. I joined this tour before I discovered the private Instagram tour I talked about above. I had never heard about the Emerald Pool and Blue Lagoon so if it wasn’t for this tour I would have missed both again.

I got picked up at my hotel in Ao Nang and headed to our first stop at the stunning Emerald Pool. From there we walked along the path to the next stop of the day, the Blue Lagoon. Enjoy this gorgeous gem surrounded by large, overhanging trees with roots that extend across the water.

We then took a break for lunch at a local restaurant, before we spent some time at the Hot Springs Waterfall. The tour ended with a visit to the majestic Wat Kaew Korawaram.

You’ll get a complimentary bottle of water, however, the lunch and any snacks you have to pay for yourself.

I really enjoyed both tours, even though they both covered the Emerald Pool and the white temple. If I had to choose I would probably go with the private Instagram tour , however, this one is the more affordable choice.

Hand holding a bowl of ingredients with people in red aprons standing in the background during a cooking class in Krabi. One of the best tour.

In my mind, no trip to SEA is complete without a cooking class. Thai is one of my favorite cuisines so when someone recommended this cooking class with professional chef Ye, I had to book it. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

I was picked up from my hotel in Ao Nang along with another couple. Before we started cooking we got an introduction to Thai food and all the rich colors, delicate aromas, and spices that go into making the perfect Thai dish.

Then we got to choose 6 dishes to cook. Pad Thai, Massaman Curry and Mango sticky rice, to name a few. My mouth is watering just from writing this. Learning how to balance flavors and make curry pastes from scratch using classic utensils and techniques was so much fun.

Definitely one of my favorite days in Thailand ever, just as good as the class I did in Bangkok .

Best guided tours in Krabi Thailand - Poda Island paradise beaches

This tour is jam-packed with beautiful places I would never have visited on my own. Travel by traditional longtail boat to Koh Poda, Chicken Island, Koh Tub, and Koh Mor, and stop at the beautiful Phra Nang Cave Beach at Railay.

Poda Island was my favorite stop, it is just breathtaking with the white sand and turquoise shallow water.

Bottled water, a Thai-style boxed picnic lunch on the beach, seasonal fruit and snorkeling equipment are included in the price, but you have to pay for the National Park entrance fee (200 THB per adult and 100 THB per child).

The boat was a little crowded, however, I wouldn’t expect anything else for the very reasonable price I paid. And it only meant I got to talk with a lot of lovely people. Our guides kept us entertained, hydrated and well-fed throughout the 6-7 hours.

This afternoon tour begins with a convenient hotel pick-up in the Krabi area, followed by a journey to the stunning Ao Thalane (Thalane Bay), known for its enchanting mangrove forests.

Upon arrival at the kayak center, the friendly tour guide provided a concise yet thorough briefing on paddle usage, ensuring our safety. Equipped with life jackets and a dry bag for our valuables, we embarked on an unforgettable kayaking journey through the mangrove river.

If you’re a nature lover you will appreciate the opportunity to spot diverse wildlife, including monitor lizards, crab-eating macaques, monkeys, vibrant tropical birds, and mudskippers in the mud during low tide. The tranquility of paddling through the mangrove forests and caves without the usual crowds added to the overall serenity of the experience.

The highlight of the tour was undoubtedly the BBQ dinner on a private beach. We got lucky with the weather. The delicious seafood meal complete with sides, sauces and fresh fruit, was a perfect culmination of the day’s adventures.

Traditional Thai wooden boat at the beach in Krabi during a red and yellow sunset on a day trip from Krabi.

This sunset and seafood dinner cruise effortlessly encapsulated the essence of the region, featuring pristine white sand beaches, tropical islands, and awe-inspiring natural wonders.

I was picked up from my hotel in Ao Nang around 1:15 pm and boarded the ship at Ao Nam Mao Pier. We set sail for Pranang Cave, Chicken Island, and the picturesque Pirate Beach.

The crystal-clear waters and powdery white sand beaches provided a stunning backdrop for swimming and snorkeling. It was so much fun to see the vibrant coral reefs and abundance of tropical fish around Poda and Tub Islands.

After building up an appetite from all the time in the water, we enjoyed a Thai dinner consisting of fresh BBQ seafood on the deck with the sun setting over the ocean as the backdrop.

The best time to visit Krabi is during the dry season, which typically runs from November to April. During this period, the weather is more predictable, ensuring a pleasant experience for outdoor activities. But keep in mind that this is also peak tourist season.

Krabi boasts stunning landscapes, including limestone cliffs, pristine beaches, and lush jungles, making it an ideal setting for diverse guided tours.

All the islands just off the coast are what makes Krabi so special, and they are most easily visited as part of a guided tour. Activities like climbing and kayaking in the Mangroves are also best done accompanied by a local guide.

Krabi is a coastal town located on the west coast of Thailand that is surrounded by craggy limestone hills and pristine islands. It has a spot on the bucket list of countless travellers.

Vibrant bustling streets in Ao Nang Beach and the gorgeous view of Railay Beach, dining by the river in Chao Fah Night Market, dipping in Emerald Pool, panoramic view of Krabi city – it’s not exaggerating to say that Krabi truly has something for everyone .

Did I mention the Krabi island hopping tours? There are plenty of those to go around!

Table of Contents

Hiking in Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint

If you’re planning a trip to Krabi, Thailand, here is the perfect 3 days in Krabi itinerary to ease up your travel planning!

We’ll include island tours in the Andaman Sea, the famous Railay Beach, Krabi night market, hikes through the jungle, views over the stunning Krabi province, and more. There is so much to do when you visit Krabi town and the surrounding areas!

Ma Tang Ming Island In Krabi

Day 1 – Hikes and Nightlife

Let’s get the first morning of your Krabi itinerary started with some hiking. You’ll end the day exploring Ao Nang, a vibrant town for nightlife.

What’s a better way to start your trip in a new city than enjoying the panoramic view over the surrounding wilderness after an exhausting hike?

Everyone has their way of fighting the fatigue of flying. In my case, I always prefer hiking, which guarantees a good night’s sleep at the end of the day.

The hike to Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint is not a difficult one, but it does take some time – around 2-3 hours for a return trip.

And the next stop on our Krabi itinerary is on the way back from Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint, so plan for a long day out.

There are plenty of free motorcycle parking lots at the entrance in front of the luxurious resorts. Don’t ride past the gate, if not, you’ll be charged a parking fee for a distance of 5 minutes’ walk.

There is no entrance fee to this hike, but the ranger at the counter will repeatedly remind you to tip them before and after you do the hike.

The Surreal View Of Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint Over The Vast Rainforest In Krabi.

Like other hikes, there are steep and plain parts on the trail. For some steeper parts, they’ve built staircases to make your hike easier.

It’s all dirt trail on the hike, and wearing a sandal is no doubt a bad idea. The dense jungle blocks off any winds that could be cooling you off, so make sure you bring plenty of water to hydrate yourself!

When you’re approaching the peak, there are signboards pointing to a waterfall and a lake. You may want to avoid these as they are not all that attractive.

At the peak, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking view at a few hundred meters above sea level. Just make sure you don’t stand on the dangerous cliffs barred off from visitors.

Never risk your life for a photo, just enjoy the view from the vantage point.

If you have the time, stop at Tubkaek Beach , located right just after leaving Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint. This is a very quiet, long beach with amazing views on the limestone hills budding from the sea surface in distance.

The Krabi Shell Cemetery is located 17 kilometres from Krabi town centre, which makes a great detour on your way back from the Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint. That’s if you’re staying in Krabi town.

The road leading to the entrance of Susan Hoi is intercepted at the main road connecting Ao Nang Beach and Krabi Town.

With the shell fossils dating back to 25-40 million years, it’s a great place for those who’re interested. But if you’re not into these things, you’ll probably want to pass on this attraction and head straight back into Krabi town.

The entrance fee to Susan Hoi is 200 Baht per entry.

On your way to the next point, don’t forget to grab some snacks or drinks from the Family Mart or 7-Eleven. They’re spread out across the town like mushrooms, you find them literally everywhere.

Wat Kaew Korawaram is absolutely the most elegant temple in Krabi. Located right inside Krabi town centre, the temple is easily accessible to visitors staying near the pier.

The staircases leading to the temple from the main road are decorated with naga sculptures, giving it a classic Thailand Buddhist temple appearance.

Upon reaching the temple, you’ll notice several dozens of information boards depicting the stories of Buddha – the birth of Buddha, how Buddha achieved enlightenment , and more.

The only downside is that some of the details and explanations are in the Thai language only.

While you’re there, take a moment and appreciate the architecture of the majestic temple. The entrance to Wat Kaew Korawaram is free of charge!

Wat Kaew Korawaram

Now we’re talking about one of the most popular beaches in Thailand – Ao Nang Beach. This well-trodden beach is often the spot to be for sunset views.

And despite the crowds, there’s no reason to miss Ao Nang on your Krabi itinerary.

On your way to Ao Nang Beach, you’ll pass by dozens of vibrant stores before reaching the parking lot.

While the beach is always filled during evening hours, it’s totally possible to find a spot for yourself on the massive stretch of beach.

Head into the bustling streets and alleys of Ao Nang when the sun goes down as this is when the nightlife begins.

Hundreds of restaurants serve cuisines from all around the world on the wide budget range. Need cheap eats? Head over to the night market.

Bars, pubs, and souvenir stores are spread throughout Ao Nang, so you’ll surely enjoy your night there!

Ao Nang Beach!

Day 2 – Island Hopping

After a fun night in Ao Nang, get ready for an epic day. Your second day in your Krabi itinerary will be an unforgettable one.

Today, we’re going island-hopping! You’ll get to see some gorgeous islands, and even pay a visit to the infamous Railay Beach.

Walking along the Krabi pier is a great way to start your day. Facing east, you could catch the sunrise from the mangrove forest on the opposite side.

The famous crab sculptures and several decorations were placed along the pier and every morning, it welcomes dozens of morning runners.

On your way back to your hotel, grab a sandwich from the Family Mart nearby or quickly stop at a cafe or restaurant of your choice in the area.

It’s going to be a busy day so load up on coffee and grab that bite to eat and let’s get started!

The Famous Crab Sculptures In Krabi.

A trip to Krabi wouldn’t be complete without an island-hopping tour. This very coast is surrounded by dozens of breathtaking uninhabited islands, crystal-clear waters and limestone hills.

It’s extremely easy to book a tour in Krabi. The easiest way would be booking with your accommodation manager, who usually has some discounts.

Most tours you will find will either be for 4 islands or 7 islands.

While I was staying in Baan To Guesthouse in Krabi, I went on the 7 Islands Sunset Tour for 900 Baht (discounted from 1,500 Baht).

There are also different tours like the 4 Islands Tour (which is more well-known to visitors), kayaking tours, rainforest discovery tour, and more.

There is honestly not much difference between the 7 Islands and 4 Islands tours.

BONUS –  Booking ahead of time ensures you won’t miss out on the tour, and get the best price too! And just for NOMADasaurus readers, if you use the Klook discount code  “NOMADS10”  on the website when checking out, you’ll get $10 off your first booking!

Both are going to provide you with a full-day tour. The 4 islands tours will allow you to spend more time on each island. But you get to see more on the 7 islands tour.

It’s all up to you whether you want to spend more time racing around between the different islands or relaxing on the beach!

For the 7 Islands Sunset Tour you can expect an itinerary similar to this:

The tuk-tuk will pick you up at 12 pm and bring you to Ao Nam Mao Pier. There, you will register yourself and collect the snorkelling mask.

Snorkeling With The Fish In Chicken Island.

You’ll then be directed onboard the longtail boat to start your day.

Throughout the day you will be visiting Tup Island, Thap Island, Chicken Island, Poda Island, Ma Tang Ming Island, Si Island, Phra Nang Beach, and Railay Beach (which technically isn’t an island).

You will get to walk between Tup Island and Thap Island , which is connected by the shallow beach on foot. You’ll also get to snorkel with the fish near Chicken Island , chill on Poda Island , visit Phra Nang Cave Beach and finally feast on a buffet dinner while watching the sunset in Railay Beach .

Railay Beach is one of Thailand’s most famous. Framed by limestone cliffs and dense jungle, Railay Beach is popular among rock climbers and photographers.

For some tours on your Krabi itinerary, you may also get to go night snorkelling to see the phytoplankton before heading back for the fire show at the pier at around 8 pm.

Sounds cool, right!? Book a 4-Island tour here!

An alternative option is booking a day tour to Koh Phi Phi . Koh Phi Phi is a great day trip, as it includes all the highlights like Viking Cave, Monkey Beach, and Maya Bay.

We would recommend spending a few days in Koh Phi Phi and taking your time seeing Maya Bay and the Koh Phi Phi town center.

But if you’re short on time and you’d rather visit Koh Phi Phi as a day trip from Krabi, you can do that. Any Krabi island hopping trip should include Koh Phi Phi for sure!

The View You Get From Tup Island, Surrounded By Nothing But Pristine Beaches And Crystal-Clear Seawater. Well, And Boats And Other Visitors, Of Course.

After returning back to the Krabi province after a busy day exploring the islands you will find the nightlife is starting to pick up.

Krabi is home to countless bars, swarmed by foreign visitors every night to spend the last few hours of the day. If you’re staying in Ao Nang Beach, then, of course, you should spend the night there.

I never visited all of the bars in Krabi Town, but there’s one particular bar that I highly recommend – Booze Bar . The staff are friendly and they have live music and lovely vibes, all you could ask for in a perfect bar.

READ MORE: Be sure to spend some time visiting Koh Phi Phi after your Krabi itinerary

Day 3 – Caves and the Emerald Pool

Most of the accommodations in Krabi do include breakfast in your stay, but if they don’t, they probably have a café to fill your morning tummy.

Today, we’re gonna rent a motorcycle to have fun around the outskirts of Krabi. If it’s not your thing, it’s pretty easy to get a tuk-tuk in Krabi to get to wherever you want!

You can also save a bunch of time by booking today’s activities as part of an all-inclusive tour ! Perfect if you’d rather not run the risk of riding a motorcycle without insurance or a license when you visit Krabi.

You might want to know that this is way more physically demanding compared to Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint.

I’m not trying to scare you. But trust me, you’ll be thanking yourself after reaching the top, enjoying the magnificent view of the temple sitting upon the ragged limestone hill.

At the base, there are several attractions like an artificial waterfall, cafeteria, and temples.

But the main attraction lies on the top connected by the 1,200-step staircases (Note: due to its physical demand this is not for all travellers.)

Visiting in the morning is a better idea as the weather is usually cooler and the sunlight isn’t as harsh as the scorching tropical sun in the afternoon.

It takes around 20-40 minutes to get to the temple on top.

If you’re worried about dehydration, bring a water bottle with you. But note that there is a water station at the temple on top to refill your bottle.

You’ll have to take off your shoes to visit around the temple, and you could easily spend 30 minutes up there on the view alone.

Also, be extra careful of the aggressive monkeys. Don’t touch them, and don’t go near a mom with babies. And definitely don’t feed them.

Limestone Views Krabi

Over the years, Emerald Pool has become one of the must-visits in Krabi for no other reasons than it’s simply wonderful. Minerals in the water make the colour absolutely spectacular!

Located inside Thung Teao Forest Natural Park , there are several hiking trails surrounding the emerald pool too. But for now, let’s go straight for the pool.

Due to the tourist crowds, it’s wiser to pay this attraction a visit in the morning. So, it’s all up to you if you want to interchange this with Tiger Cave Temple.

With an entrance fee of 200 Baht, you are allowed to soak yourself in the crystal pond for as long as you want. The entrance closes at 4.30 pm.

Next up, Klong Thom Hot Springs is located near Emerald Pool, so I highly recommend you arrange both of these attractions on the same day on your Krabi itinerary.

The hot spring itself is extremely small and difficult to accommodate the number of visitors daily.

So, the authorities have decided to build an artificial pool near the hot spring and drain part of the water there for more people to enjoy.

The artificial pool is located before the authentic hot spring. So, if you’re visiting in the non-peak hours you could possibly enjoy the hot springs surrounded by gigantic tree roots.

It’s advised that you shouldn’t soak yourself in the hot springs for more than 20 minutes at a time.

The entrance fee to Klong Thom Hot Springs is 160 Baht, plus 10 Baht for your motorbike parking.

Chao Fah Night Market is one of the most enjoyable night markets in all of Thailand. Hundreds of tables and chairs are arranged by the pier, fenced by dozens of hawker stalls.

You can go over all the menus of every stall, but you won’t notice much difference other than the design. Choose the one you like, and order whatever you want, and they’ll arrange a seat for you.

There are milkshake stalls there, which I recommend. (Krabi has much better milkshakes compared to Phi Phi Islands and Phuket, honestly.)

The highlights here are, of course, seafood, since Krabi is a coastal town. And they’re surprisingly affordable here too. You can get a big plate of clams for under 200 Baht!

You could also choose to attend the Blue Dragon Cabaret show , which is one of the more popular and most famous attractions in all of Thailand.

There are other Ladyboy shows throughout Thailand but this is worth a watch on the last of your 3 days in Krabi itinerary.

Krabi Thailand City Guide

Now that you have a pretty good idea about what you’re going to do with your 3 days in Krabi itinerary, let’s help you travel to and around Krabi and find the best accommodation and food!

The best time to visit Krabi and the rest of Southern Thailand is generally during the dry season, which spans from November to April.

During these months, Krabi experiences pleasant weather with clear skies, warm temperatures, and lower humidity. Travel guides would recommend these months for exploring the region’s renowned limestone cliffs, pristine beaches, and vibrant marine life.

While the peak tourist season occurs from December to February, offering optimal conditions for various outdoor activities like rock climbing, island hopping, and snorkeling, visitors can still enjoy nice weather in the shoulder months of November and April.

However, you should always check the local weather and be mindful of potential variations in weather patterns, as occasional brief rain showers can occur even during the dry season.

If Krabi is your first destination in Thailand, then there’s good news – there is an international airport in Krabi.

Inside the Krabi Airport, you’ll have to choose between taking the shared van or private transfer to your accommodation.

In my case, I took the shared van, which is surprisingly comfortable with leather seats and a well-air-conditioned interior.

It took around 30 minutes to reach our hostel, and yes, they drop you right at the doorstep. The price? Only 90 Baht!

In some cases where you’re travelling in Phuket first, then consider taking the shared van from the bus terminals to Krabi. There are two bus terminals in Phuket.

It takes 3 hours to reach Krabi by bus. The only downside is that the bus terminal is rather far from most accommodations.

You might need a cab to get to your hotel, or you could walk, which I did! The shared van costs 140 Baht.

What if you’re staying in Ao Nang? Well, it’s pretty similar.

From the airport, catch the shared van to Ao Nang, which costs slightly more at 110 Baht. From Phuket, just tell the receptionist that you’re going to Ao Nang. It’s pretty straightforward as Ao Nang and Krabi are so close.

For travellers, the most popular place to stay would be near the Chao Fah Park Pier. There are plenty of shops, marts, hostels, and hotels – and of course, night markets.

Since there are not that many attractions inside Krabi Town, renting a motorcycle is the easiest way to visit the nearest attractions like the Emerald Pool, Ao Nang, Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint, and more.

Renting a motorcycle when you visit Krabi is almost effortless and is reasonably priced at around 200-250 Baht per day.

This price excludes petrol, which is pretty cheap as well. Chances are, you can rent a motorcycle from your hotel or hostel.

If a motorcycle is not your thing, then your options would be either private cabs, tours or GrabCar.

Tours are pretty common when you visit Krabi due to its popularity among Chinese, Russian and Korean tourists. So booking a tour is trouble-free.

Baan To Guesthouse definitely has one of the most strategic locations for those who visit Krabi. Within a 5-minutes’ walk, you’ll get to Chao Fah Night Market, the pier, and plenty of amazing cafes and restaurants, like 89 Café .

I highly recommend this café, even though it’s a little pricey, the foods are top-notch and will never disappoint you.

They have one of the cheapest prices for double rooms in Krabi, and the on-site restaurant is perfect for breakfast. The host was extremely friendly as well, and we gladly rented her motorcycle for 250 Baht per day.

The rooms were basic, a little bit warm, so I suggest getting an air-conditioned room.

I hope you enjoyed reading this 3 days Krabi itinerary. Krabi Thailand is a wonderland for those who love nightlife. But it’s also perfect for those who enjoy travelling at a slower pace.

In short, Krabi Thailand has something for everyone. Three days in Krabi are enough for most people to take in the essential attractions.

But if you’re opting to stay longer, Krabi is a great spot to sit back and relax!

Places visited on the 4 island Krabi tour

Okay so now we are going to run through all the islands visited on the  Krabi tour package  and a full  Krabi tour package review;

1.Phra Nang Cave Beach

First stop Phra Nang Cave Beach , a scheduled tropical paradise located 15 minutes from West Railay. Phra Nang Cave Beach is surrounded by impressive limestone rock formations creating a picturesque backdrop, perfect for that insta gram shot.  To witness breath taking views why not climb up to the huge cave at the south end of the beach. Yes it can be a strenuous steep climb and maybe not ideal in flip flips, but it’s certainly worth the effort.

You are given around 1 hour to explore the 450 metre stretch of beach, hike up the mountain, cool of in the crystal clear waters or simply take in the stunning environment.  Your time keeping might come in handy here as you don’t want to be left stranded on the island!

If you’re staying in Krabi, you need to visit the Krabi town night market

2.Koh Poda Island

Koh Poda Island was by far my favourite and not just because dinner was served! Koh Poda Island is a picture postcard destination with white power sandy and shallow crystal clear waters.

For dinner we were served thia green chicken curry with rice and noodles, not 5* al care, but it filled the spot. The best part was being able to find a shady spot of the beach and listen to the lapping of the gentle waves whilst we digged in. There’s also a small shop on Koh Poda Island selling snacks and drinks if dinner doesn’t float your boat. Your captain will give you around 1 hour before having to head to the next destination Chicken Island . I really didn’t want to leave!

Check out the Phi Phi overnight stay

3.Chicken Island

Next up, Chicken Island , instantly recognisable by a large rock formation that resembles a chickens head!  Your boat doesn’t actually stop on the island but is perfect place to try your hand at snorkelling.

The captain will anchor the boat 15 metres from the shoreline and will give you 30 minutes to explore the reef. I would recommend taking an underwater go pro to capture the moment to create memories for life.

4.Tup Island

Tup Island is the final destination on Krabi’s 4 Island Tour and it didn’t disappoint. Chicken Island and Tup Island are connected by a sand bank and at low time you can actually walk between the two, pretty cool if you ask me! Walk out into the shallows waters and you’ll be surrounded by colourful fish. Tup Island is quite small and there’s not much shade which I presume is the reason why the captain only gives you 30 minutes to walk around.

After a 30 minute boat ride back to the mainland you’ll hop back into the transfer buses and head back to your hotel to relax after a busy day of sightseeing.

The epic Railay beach Krabi

One of my best beaches in Thailand is the stunning Railay Beach. This amazing beach is the meaning of paradise.

The beach is stunning and the hotels on Railay Beach are perfect. You will visit this amazing beach if you do the Krabi 7 island tour.

How to book the Krabi 4 island tour?

You will find a few locals selling tickets for the 4 island tour. The price will usually change depending on the season in Thailand.

For an easy option you can book online with TripAdvisor. You will have your tickets guarenteed and you you will be guaranteed a fun and safe trip on the this epic Krabi tour.

The best part is you will the 4 island tour by a traddiotnal long-tail-boat. Fun and traditional.

Other things to do in Krabi

Rock Climbing Railay Beach

Try your hand at rock climbing on Railay Beach , whether you’re a beginner or expert there’s something for everyone. We choose the half day private session for two people, which included equipment hire, an experienced English speaking guide and insurance. It’s physically challenging, but the guide helps you every step of the way and made me feel confident to reach the top, where I got to witness incredible views overlooking Railay Beach.

Railay Beach rock climbing Price = Half day: 1200Baht      Full day:2000Baht

Location = Between Railay East and Railay West on walking street, across from Skunk House Bar

Watch a Muay Thai Fight

Muay Thai is Thailand national sport, so why not visit Ao Nang boxing stadium on a Tuesday or Friday night and watch a traditional Muay Thai fight in Krabi .   This is one of the most popular  things to do in Krabi  aswell as the  4 island tour Krabi.  Matches are all about spectacle: a complex dance ceremony is performed before each fight to pay respect to the combatants’ teachers and to the guardian spirit of Thai boxing. The atmosphere is electric with the stadium quickly filling with both locals and tourists. The main concession to tourism is the eye-watering price tag, tickets for foreigners cost 1200 – 1500 baht, but for this you will see up to 9 fights ringside, a price worth aying in my eyes!

Muay Thai Krabi Price = 1200-1500 Baht

Location = Ao Nang Boxing Stadium, 100 soi nopparat 13 Aonang Mung, Krabi

Get a Thai Massage in krabi

Ao Nang offers some of the best Spa and treatments in Krabi in the whole of Thailand, with prices varying massive. You can find massage parlours anywhere in Ao Nang from hotels, to beaches, to shops of the street.  We choose to have a full body massage at Boossabakorn Spa and Beauty due to its affordability, friendly staff and decorative and comfortable interior.

Thai massage in Krabi Price = 800 Baht for 1 hour

Location = 132/35 Moo 2,Ao Nang, Krabi Town

Day trip to Railay Beach Krabi

Railay Beach in Krabi has been voted one of the beach beaches in the world so it’s definitely one to tick off the bucket list. Railay Beach is only accessible by boat, which run all day long and only take 15 minutes. Prices of these vary depending on what time of day you go but you should pay around 100 Baht. Railay beach was one of my favourite destinations in Krabi, the beach is wide and surrounded by huge limestone cliffs that add to a tropical feel.

Railay beach in Krabi Price = 100 Baht per person each way (varies depending on season and time of day)

Location = Railay Beach, Krabi

Best places to stay in Krabi, Ao Nang

  Summary

Overall I would recommend anyone to experience Krabi 4 Island Tour Krabi .  The Krabi tour package  is very cheap for the experience you will get. I would go as far to say it is better than the  James Bond Island tour from Krabi .

Before heading to Krabi I did some research and came across I few articles suggesting 4 Island Tour  Krabi has become overrun with tourists. Well yes, you’re not going to get the islands to yourself, but this doesn’t mean the there no longer beautiful.  The captain took us to the islands using a different route to other tour companies to try and minimise the number of people on one island at a time. For 1000Baht you can’t complain at the price and you’re paying for what you get!

After here you can travel from Krabi to Ko Phi Phi or Krabi to Phuket.

Check out the Phi Phi private boat tour

Where to next?

If you’re travelling you will most likely be visiting the awesome Koh Lanta next. Check out this guide on how to get from Ao Nang to Koh Lanta guide  easily.

The PERFECT 3 Days in Krabi Itinerary

  • Krabi: From Mass Tourism To Insider Tips
  • The PERFECT 3 Days in…

Welcome to the Topic “The PERFECT 3 Days in Krabi Itinerary”

Krabi is a town on the west coast of Thailand that is surrounded on all sides by rugged limestone hills and unspoiled islands. It is a popular tourist destination. Numerous travelers have included it on their lists of things to do before they die.

It is not an exaggeration to say that Krabi truly offers something for everyone; from the lively and bustling streets in Ao Nang Beach to the breathtaking view from Railay Beach, from dining by the river in Chao Fah Night Market to swimming in Emerald Pool and taking in a panoramic view of Krabi city, Krabi truly does have something for everyone.

Did I mention the island hopping tours that are available in Krabi? There is plenty of those to go around for everyone!

Day 1 – Hikes and Nightlife

Let’s get some exercise out of the way on your plan for Krabi first thing in the morning and go hiking. You will spend the last part of the day discovering Ao Nang, a lively town known for its nightlife.

Hiking in Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint

After a grueling climb, what could be a more fitting way to kick off your vacation in a brand-new city than to take in the breathtaking panorama of the natural landscape that surrounds it?

Everyone has their own strategy for warding off the weariness that comes with flying.

In my situation, I always choose hiking because it ensures that I will have a restful night’s sleep at the conclusion of the day.

The climb to the Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint is not particularly tough, but it takes some time — perhaps two to three hours- for the round trip.

Also, the following destination on our Krabi itinerary is on the way back from the Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint, so make sure you have enough time for a full day of exploring.

In front of the entrances to the posh resorts are large numbers of free parking lots that are specifically designed to accommodate motorcycles. If you ride past the gate, you will be subject to a parking cost that is equivalent to the distance you will have to walk, which is five minutes.

This trek does not require you to pay an admission fee; nevertheless, the ranger who is stationed at the desk will remind you several times to leave a tip for them before and after you complete the hike.

Shell Cemetery (Susan Hoi)

On your way back from the Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint, you should definitely stop by the Krabi Shell Cemetery, which is situated 17 kilometers away from the Krabi town center. You may get there by taking a short diversion. This is assuming that you will be staying in Krabi town.

At the intersection with the main road that runs between Ao Nang Beach and Krabi Town, the route that leads to the entrance to Susan Hoi is blocked off.

Sunset & Nightlife in Ao Nang Beach

Now we’re going to talk about Ao Nang Beach, which is widely considered to be one of the best beaches in all of Thailand. Sunsets may often be seen on this beach, which is frequented by a lot of people.

And despite the crowds, leaving Ao Nang off the itinerary for your trip to Krabi is no excuse.

Before you reach the parking lot on your trip to Ao Nang Beach, you will travel past dozens of bustling stores on the journey there.

Even though the beach is always packed during the nighttime hours, there is a good chance that you will be able to locate a location all to yourself on the enormous stretch of beach.

Day 2 – Island Hopping

Prepare yourself for an amazing day in Ao Nang after having a good time the night before. The second day of your schedule in Krabi is going to be an experience you won’t soon forget.

Walking Along the Pier

Beginning your day with a brisk stroll along the pier in Krabi is an excellent choice. If you turned your back to the west and faced east, you could watch the sunrise over the mangroves on the other side.

Along the pier, the well-known crab sculptures and a number of other decorations have been put, and every morning, the pier is visited by dozens of morning runners.

Grab a sandwich from the Family Mart that’s close by, or make a speedy pit stop at a cafe or restaurant of your choosing in the neighborhood on your way back to your hotel.

Let’s get started once you’ve had a few cups of coffee and something to eat since today is going to be really hectic!

Island-Hopping Tour

In order to get the most out of your time in Krabi, you should take an island-hopping tour. This particular coastline is encircled on all sides by dozens of stunningly beautiful islands devoid of inhabitants, crystal blue waters, and limestone hills.

In Krabi, making reservations for a trip couldn’t be simpler. The most convenient option would be to make your reservation through your property manager, who almost always offers some kind of discount.

The majority of the tours that are available will either visit four islands or seven islands.

Day 3 – Caves and the Emerald Pool

Even if your hotel in Krabi doesn’t include breakfast in the price of your room, there’s a good chance it has a nearby restaurant or café where you may get something to eat in the morning.

We will have a good time today by seeing the countryside around Krabi on a motorcycle we rented. If you don’t feel like walking, it shouldn’t be too difficult to find a tuk-tuk in Krabi to take you everywhere you need to go.

Hiking in Wat Tham Sua or Tiger Cave Temple

You might find it helpful to know that, in comparison to Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint, this one requires a lot more effort on your part physically.

I don’t mean to frighten you in any way. But believe me when I say that once you reach the summit and take in the breathtaking panorama of the temple perched atop the jagged limestone cliff, you will be glad you made an effort.

At the bottom of the mountain are a number of different tourist destinations, including a man-made waterfall, a café, and temples.

The top, however, is where the majority of the attractions are located, and getting there involves climbing 1,200 steps. (It is important to note that this is not suitable for all travelers due to the physical demands involved.)

It is recommended that you plan your excursion for the morning rather than the afternoon because the temperature is typically lower, and the sunshine isn’t as intense as it is in the middle of the day when the hot tropical sun is at its peak.

The journey to the temple at the peak takes between twenty and forty minutes.

Bring a water bottle with you if you’re concerned about being dehydrated while you’re out. Be aware, however, that there is a water station at the temple that allows you to refill your bottle at the summit of the mountain.

To go around the temple, you will need to remove your shoes, and the view from the top of the temple alone is worth the trip up there for at least half an hour.

Additionally, exercise extreme caution around the belligerent monkeys. Do not touch them, and stay away from mothers who have infants in their care. And under no circumstances should you give them food.
