Yielding the hits “Are You Gonna Be My Girl,” which appeared in an international iTunes campaign and cracked the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart (peaking at No. 29); “Look What You’ve Done,” “Rollover DJ “and “Get Me Outta Here,” Get Born went on to land six ARIA Awards and is certified nine-times platinum in Australia. Global sales top 5 million, reps say, and Get Born remains one of the top 5 highest-selling Australian rock albums of all time.

Jet was finally grounded in 2012, before briefly reforming in 2017 to play with Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band on their sold-out Australian tour of that year. A handful of dates followed, including a slot at Fuji Rock festival in Japan.

“I don’t remember much about the actual day Get Born was released,” comments Wilson. “I think we were in Pittsburgh. I’m sure we celebrated, but to be honest we celebrated every night back in those days. 2003 was one big blurry haze for me.”

The general public ticket on sale starts Friday, June 16, with pre-sales opening from Thursday.

JET: 20th Anniversary Tour, Forum Melbourne, Melbourne, September 22nd 2023 – Live Review

I distinctively remember discovering JET through an Apple iPod and iTunes advertisement on TV which had several silhouettes with different coloured backgrounds, all holding the white music player product and energetically dancing to JET’s ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl’ . Now, I never bought the damned iPod but I did buy JET’s debut album ‘Get Born’ .

Growing up with JET ’s music, ‘Get Born’ was a staple of my CD collection. Back then, Australian rock music reigned supreme, to the point where even those that didn’t actively follow the music genre knew of JET and their severely catchy tunes.

Cut to 2023, the Melbourne band consisting of Nic Cester , Chris Cester , Cameron Muncey and Mark Wilson , is celebrating the 20 th anniversary of their iconic debut album. Commemorating the achievement by touring nationally and playing ‘Get Born’ in its entirety, fans eagerly leaped at the opportunity to see this legendary band live in a sold-out tour. Holding a warm-up gig at Melbourne venue The Night Cat only two nights beforehand, with how beloved The Forum is as a live music venue, I believe it is only fitting for JET ’s home city concert to be the main event of the tour. At least, it sure felt like it!

Unfortunately, due to a family emergency, Chris Cester who is now located in the US, couldn’t make it to the Australian tour. However, the band is still accompanied by Louis Macklin on the keys and Pete Marin on the drums, both of which do a phenomenal job. I daresay that an additional and important member of this tour is whoever it is overseeing the lighting tech and lighting design. Not only is the setup aesthetically pleasing but seeing the gorgeous lights flicker in time to the beat during various opportune moments of JET ’s setlist was genius, wonderful to watch and I often found myself appreciating the lighting alone throughout the night.

Before JET even took the stage, the energy of the room was palpable. The Melbourne audience were diverse not only in age but in fandom. Some were clearly long-term fans proudly wearing their previous tour t-shirts ( well, the lucky ones who still had them fit ) while others were excited to be seeing JET for the first time. Among the audience, I found a very excited Yosuke who had flown down from Tokyo, Japan to Australia in a solo trip just to see JET ’s Melbourne concert. Yosuke shared with me that his father liked The Beatles and through this love, they found JET . Not only did Yosuke fly down specifically for the concert but he was also only staying for four days in his first ever visit to Australia.

This is a passion that I can relate to. I’m all for travelling to see a concert, especially if the artist I like isn’t touring my city or country, or if I simply just want to a see a concert tour more than once. I wanted to help Yosuke and ended up obtaining a physical ticket stub for him to cherish as a memento of his experience ( honestly, obtaining concert ticket stubs should not be a struggle in general ), but I also helped him find the merchandise desk hidden upstairs, so that he could purchase some tour merch to take home with him. He ended up getting a very fine-looking black t-shirt with the tour dates on them and was very grateful for the help.

When the music began and JET took to the stage, all the fans in the room merged their passion, energy, and voices to become one massive rock chorus, loud but perfectly in tune and in time to every single song number. While ‘Get Born’ was performed in chronological order, the setlist was not limited to songs from this album. JET also had songs from their other two studio albums including ‘Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is’ which kicked off the concert, ‘Seventeen’ which had Nic Cester laughing and bashfully admitting he had forgotten some of the lyrics, forgivable as many in the audience ( including me ) didn’t remember the words to that second chorus either. JET even performed a new song titled ‘Little Fish’ which surprisingly fit with the rest of JET ’s existing discography like a glove.

While every song was energetic and had patrons singing at the top of their lungs, almost feeling like a powerful religious experience but without the preachiness and all rock music, there were many moments that outshone others. From the ‘Get Born’ album, naturally ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl’ had everyone dancing and bopping along regardless of age, ‘Cold Hard Bitch’ had the audience expressive and elated while shouting in unison, and both ‘Look What You’ve Done’ and ‘Move On’ even brought back the cigarette lighters which were happily slowly swayed around by fans and is honestly a concert ritual that I haven’t seen in years and thought I’d never see again. These days, cigarette lighters are replaced by mobile phone lights and lightsticks, but not at a JET concert.

My favourite performance of the night, however, was when Nic Cester performed my favourite JET song ‘Shine On’ from their second studio album of the same name. Armed only with an acoustic guitar, he performed the song solo and appeared to be embraced by moonbeams due to the gorgeous lighting throughout the ballad. I really wish I had filmed this moment as it was so beautiful not only visually but audibly, the Melbourne crowd joined along with Cester to every lyric. Despite JET performing their first band shows in 5 years, they sounded so good , it’s hard to believe they were ever gone at all.

Summoning long-time and new fans alike, while still converting many others along the way, JET‘s brilliance and magic lives on. For me, their music been a big part of my life and has also been the mutual force that has helped me make many friends at concerts, my latest one being a lovely music fan who flew in from Japan. Also, the concert was fucking awesome . You just had to be there!

JET’s music remains timeless. They are honestly one of the best bands in the world. Ambitious of me to state, sure. However, considering they will be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame this November, I shamelessly believe that they are right up there with The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and will die on this hill. Undeniable is the impact that they’ve made in music in their ever-expanding legacy. Considering the nostalgia fuelled power that they collectively let loose on stage on Friday the 22 nd of September at Forum Melbourne in their home city, their magic touch and the phenomena of ‘Get Born’ is as relevant today as it was 20 years ago.

JET ’s 20 th Anniversary Tour is proudly presented by LiveNation Australia and will have its next stop tonight in Adelaide at Hindley Street Musical Hall before heading to Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on September 29 and concluding on September 30 in Sydney at the Enmore Theatre . With ‘Little Fish’ being performed as their newest song on tour and their ARIA Hall of Fame induction around the corner, let’s hope a new album or another concert tour is on the cards, as I for one do not want this tour to be the last time we ever see JET live.

Jet are heading on tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Get Born

Four men sit on the ground leaning against a black wall. Three of them smoke cigarettes.

Australian rock'n'roll in the 2000s was dominated by a handful of world-beating bands.

Right up the top of the pile was Melburnian throwback rockers Jet , and their biggest moment came with their 2003 debut album Get Born .

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of that record's release, the band will head out on the road for the first time in years to play it in its entirety.

" Get Born was a rare and unique moment of total planetary alignment where we somehow managed to capture lighting in a bottle," frontman Nic Cester recalls of that time.

The album was packed with hit singles, including Hottest 100 winner 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl', and massive tunes like 'Look What You've Done', 'Rollover DJ' and 'Get Me Outta Here', none of which have lost their lustre after all these years.

It sold four million copies – it remains in the top five highest selling Australian rock records of all time – and took the band to great heights around the world.

"I don’t remember much about the actual day Get Born was released, I think we were in Pittsburgh," bassist Mark Wilson admits. "I'm sure we celebrated, but to be honest we celebrated every night back in those days. 2003 was one big blurry haze for me."

Hopefully we'll all have clearer memories of the band when they cruise along the east coast and over to Adelaide for this very special tour.

Catch Jet celebrating Get Born at the following shows. Tickets are on sale from 11am Friday 16 June.

Friday 22 September – Forum Theatre, Melbourne

Saturday 23 September – Hindley Street Music Hall, Adelaide

Friday 29 September – Fortitude Music Hall, Brisbane

Jet would release only two more albums – 2006’s Shine On and 2009’s Shaka Rock – before calling it a day in 2012. They briefly reformed in 2017 to play with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in Australia, and decided to play some more shows together after receiving an overwhelming response from fans.

What to expect on an Airboat ride

What to expect on an Airboat Ride

At Airboat Rides Melbourne, our focus is designing a unique and memorable adventure and tour for you and your family, to showcase the natural beauty of the amazing wetlands of this part of Florida. We want to show you the stunning wildlife of the rivers and lakes, giving you and your children an unforgettable and exciting experience that is also educational and instills a real sense of awe and respect for the natural environment. We aim to show you amazing sights, from the biggest alligators (we always know where the alligators are) to huge flocks of migratory and waterbirds and running deer, to incredible sunrises and sunsets over the lake. You will always come away impressed by the splendor of nature, and with memories that will last a lifetime.

When to take an airboat ride

Airboat rides launch from the Lake Washington Boat Ramp and Park in Melbourne, Florida at the head waters of the beautiful Upper St. John's River. These are among the most beautiful and stunning wetland locations in Central Florida, with an incredibly diverse abundance of wildlife.

For a twist on the usual airboat ride, we also offer sunset and night tours. Florida sunsets are deservedly famous for their natural beauty and incredible colors, and with the wide open sky over the lake, the rolling cloud banks and stunning blazes of orange, red and purple seem to stretch forever. Night is the true time to experience the mystery of the swamplands. At night, deer can be seen swimming in the lakes and running along the shore. Searching for alligators with headlamps in the night is sure to be an unforgettable experience for children, as they see those big, watchful yellow eyes gliding along the water. For an evening or night trip, you'll need warmer clothing, bug spray, shoes that you don't mind getting wet or a little dirty, and a camera with flash.

This means that your ride will be a unique experience, where you can go wherever you want on a tour completely tailored to your preferences. Take our airboat charter for a totally personalized, leisurely interactive and unforgettable experience! You are guaranteed personal attention in this small group of your family and friends. If you or your children have particular interests, for example viewing alligators, we are more than happy to tailor your tour for your maximum enjoyment. See an area you'd like to explore further? Just point it out to your driver and he'll be happy to oblige.

Captain Mike, the owner and chief guide at Airboat Rides Melbourne, has many years of experience, is fully licensed and has a perfect safety record. He understands how to make airboat rides both fun and educational for children, and all ages, and knows exactly where to go for the best wildlife sightings at any time of day or night. You are assured of an experience you will remember for a lifetime, whether it's the spectacular sunrises or sunsets over the lake or the incredible diversity of Florida wildlife. You can't fail to be impressed by the incredible grandeur of Florida's wetlands, and children will remember their adventure forever, with an unparalleled awe of nature's beauty.

My first glance at a map of the Melbourne CBD was a little overwhelming. There is quite a lot of ground to cover in order to see the top Melbourne sights. However, when we hit the pavement, we found Melbourne to be a very walkable city. With just a few hours, an ambitious person could easily complete this self-guided walking tour of Melbourne; with added detours and stops, it can be done in a day!

Free Self-Guided Walking Tour of Melbourne

Yarra River View, Melbourne, Australia

Walking tours of Melbourne are an ideal way to get acquainted with the city center – or the Central Business District (CBD) as locals call it. While there are numerous Melbourne Walking Tours that are led by guides, we created this Free Melbourne Walking Tour for visitors who like to explore at their own pace.

Sea Life, Melbourne, AU

At the end of the post, we share our top tips for Melbourne City Walks, suggestions for themed and guided walking tours in Melbourne and two maps so that you can find your way to each sight. We also include turn-by-turn directions within our Melbourne Free Tour.

Pro Tip: There are heaps of distractions along the way (many of which we point out during the Melbourne walk), if you have the time, go explore and enjoy!

Pin, Save or Bookmark our Free Walking Tour Melbourne for your vacation to Australia!

#1 Queen Victoria Market

Queen Victoria Market: The night market is a feast for foodies, offering a variety of cuisine

The historic Melbourne market has been in operation since 1878 and is now spread over two city blocks. Allow yourself some time, grab a coffee to go and peruse the stalls. Besides the fresh produce market, there is an indoor deli, outdoor general merchandise market and several permanent stores around the QVM perimeter.

At the Queen Victoria Market night event, blazing fires keep people warm

Pro Tip : Find out more about visiting the QVM in our complete article: Queen Victoria Market: Day, Night and Weekend.

Walk east on Victoria Street to Swanston and head south to Latrobe to the…

#2 State Library of Victoria

Victoria Library, Melbourne, Australia

The State Library of Victoria is the second stop on our Melbourne Free City Tour. The library opened in 1856 and has been growing ever since, now holding a collection of more than 2 million books, art galleries and historical exhibits.

Interior of the Library, Melbourne, AU

Pro Tip : It is free to enter the library – and we recommend going in to take a look around and view the impressively domed La Trobe Reading Room. Then, go upstairs for a view from above on the balcony and a peek at the historical exhibits as well.

Continue east on Latrobe to Russell Street and turn north to the…

#3 Old Melbourne Gaol

Old Jail Melbourne, Australia

The Old Melbourne  Jail is a must-see when city sightseeing Melbourne. The jail operated from 1842 until 1929 as a prison and where criminals who had been sentenced to death were hanged, including the (in)famous Ned Kelly .

Pro Tip : The Old Melbourne Gaol is one of the most popular museums in Melbourne – and a ticket is required to enter. Visitors interested in learning about Australia’s most notorious criminals and exploring the prison cells should book a ticket in advance .

Continue north on Russell Street as it turns into Lygon Street and turn right onto Queensberry Street and head east to the…

#4 Carlton Gardens and Royal Exhibition Building

Exterior view of Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne, Australia

One of the most beautiful places in Melbourne, the Carlton Gardens is the next stop on our tour. Designated a park in 1839, the 64 acres are perfect for a stroll, rest or picnic.

Aim for the center of the park and the Royal Exhibition Building . Built in 1880 for the Melbourne International Exhibition, it was also the site of the first official opening of Australian Parliament in 1901. It was actually set to be demolished, but was saved and remodeled in the late 1990s. In 2004, it received UNESCO World Heritage status.

Continue walking east to Nicholson Street and turn south as it becomes Spring Street, passing the Parliament Gardens and view of St. Patrick’s Cathedral (if time allows, make a detour to visit the church). On the opposite side of Spring street in the historic Princess Theater. Continue south to the steps of…

#5 Parliament House, Melbourne

Stairs leading to Parliament House, Melbourne, AU

The Parliament House is a regular stop on all Melbourne CBD Tours. Built between 1856 and 1930, the Parliament House  is where both houses of Victoria’s Parliament – the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council – still meet today.

Ceiling and chandelier of Parliament, Melbourne, Australia

Pro Tip: The interior can be seen by guided tour on non-sitting days or from the public gallery when Parliament is in session – both options are free!

For architecture and gold lovers, make a little detour and continue south to the Old Treasury Building , which is free to enter and includes intriguing exhibits detailing Melbourne history. For those short on time, cross Spring Street to Bourke Street and head west to Exhibition Street. Go north to Little Bourke and turn west into…

#6 Chinatown, Melbourne

Chinatown, Melbourne

The next stop on our Melbourne Free Walking Tour is fascinating Chinatown. Marked by ornately painted gates and hanging lanterns, walk the length of Chinatown . Like so many foreigners, the Chinese were also drawn to Melbourne in the 1850’s by the prospect of finding gold. Land was purchased by many Chinese people along Little Bourke and the thriving Chinatown remains today with a bevy of Asian restaurants and shops.

Pro Tip: Among the many places and things to eat in Melbourne, Dumplings in Chinatown are a must-try! We feasted at the no-frills, budget-friendly Shanghai Dumpling House – which is open for lunch and dinner.

Continue west to Swanston Street and turn south to…

#7 Bourke Street Mall

Bourke Street, Melbourne, Australia

Continue on your tour of Melbourne City on the Bourke Street Mall. The retail mecca includes everything from high end shops (hello, Tiffany’s) to the necessities (Target) to the flagship store of the Australian department store chain Myer. With wide sidewalks, there is plenty of room for Melbourne street performers to entertain those less interested in shopping.

Best Things to Do in Melbourne, Australia - Ramble the Laneways and Street Art JetSetting Fools

Pro Tip : As you walk down the street, don’t miss Union Lane for a glimpse at Melbourne’s fabulous street art along the way.

Continue walking west on Bourke Street to the Royal Arcade (then go inside and walk south).

#8 Royal Arcade Melbourne

The Royal Arcade is a bit of glam as far as laneways go - and has been since its inception.

Often included on Melbourne Laneway Tours, the Royal Arcade is a quaint covered shopping street that has been around since 1869. The lane is filled with top-end stores and posh cafes.

Arcades in Melbourne, Australia

Pro Tip: Don’t miss the statues of Gog and Magog, two mythical creatures guarding Gaunt’s Clock since 1892, that stand above the entrance.

Emerging onto Little Collins, zig zag west and then south into…

#9 Block Arcade Melbourne

Block Arcade Entrance

Another upscale covered shopping lane – and perhaps even more opulent than Royal Arcade – Block Arcade , or just ‘The Block’, was once the place to be seen in Melbourne. Opened in the year 1893, The Block Arcade features a hand-laid Italian tile floor, glass ceilings and classic Victorian architecture.

Block Arcade Shops

Pro Tip : The two must-see shops at The Block are the Hopetoun Tea Room and Haigh’s Chocolates.

Exiting on Collins Street, turn left and walk east to Swanston St and to the…

#10 Melbourne Town Hall

Town Hall, Melbourne, Australia

Completed in 1870, the Melbourne Town Hall is a historically important social and cultural site in the city. It is also where city council members still meet. Inside, there is an auditorium and a beautiful organ (check the schedule for free organ concerts).

Pro Tip : Visitors can take fee tours of the Town Building, but they must be booked in advance!

Continue walking east on Collins Street, passing the Scots’ Church and turn south on Russell Street. Walk south to Flinders Lane. Rock and roll enthusiasts might want to detour east to AC/DC Lane for street art and a pop into Cherry Bar. Otherwise, turn right and walk west to…

#11 Hosier Lane Street Art

Street Art Scene, Melbourne, Australia

The next stop on our Free Walking Tour of Melbourne is Hosier Lane. One of the best known laneways in Melbourne for amazing street art, get a good, up-close look at the murals on the walls. It isn’t graffiti, which is illegal in Melbourne. The works on this street are commissioned and it’s likely you’ll see someone working on a spray paint masterpiece when you walk through.

Pro Tip : Find out more about the history and culture of Melbourne’s laneways and street art in our guide: Laneways in Melbourne: Alleys, Arcades and Street Art.

At Flinders Street, turn right and walk west to…

#12 St. Paul’s Cathedral, Melbourne

Churches in Melbourne, Australia

Next up on our Melbourne Walk is St. Paul’s Cathedral. The first stone of St. Paul’s Cathedral , a gothic-style church, was laid in 1880, but the spires weren’t completed until 1933. The gorgeous interior includes original baptismal fonts and an 1891 organ.

Pro Tip: Guests can use the descriptive brochures provided at the back of the church to complete an informative self-guided tour of the cathedral.

Just south of the Cathedral is…

#13 Federation Square

Federation Square, Melbourne, Australia

Anyone who walks around Melbourne will likely end up in Federation Square; it’s at the heart of the city and an entertainment hub. Federation Square , which opened in 2002, is a public space that features galleries, museums, restaurants, bars and a place to sit back and relax. Although the square is quite modern, there is a much longer history of this location, tracing back to Aboriginals. The unique architecture is meant to bring different parts together as a whole.

Pro Tip : One of the most popular features of Federation Square is the Digital Façade – or the Big Screen. The gigantic screen streams live sports, news and events, so be sure to take a glance to see what’s on!

Just west of Federation Square is…

#14 Flinders Street Station

Trains at Flinders Street, Melbourne, AU

All Melbourne Sightseeing Tours include a stop at Flinders Street Station ; it has long been one of the busiest- and most beautiful – stations in Melbourne. The structure occupies 2 city blocks and is the city’s central hub of transportation. Built in 1909, the Flinders Street Station building is truly a Melbourne landmark.

Flinders St Station, Melbourne, Australia

The corner entrance of Flinders Street Station displays a row of clocks showing the next train departure on each line. In 1983, the clocks were removed and replaced by digital readings. The public was so upset by the change that they brought back the old clocks in one day’s time. If you hear someone say, “Meet you under the clocks,” this is where you will find them.

Head south on St. Kilda Road, crossing Princes Bridge. On the bridge, to the east, you can see the…

#15 Princes Bridge and Classic Melbourne Views

View of the Melbourne Skyline, Australia

The 400 foot long Princes Bridge spans the Yarra River as part of St Kilda Road. It stands on the site of one of Melbourne’s oldest river crossings and provides wonderful scenic city views to the west.

MCG Melbourne, Australia

Looking to the east, you’ll see the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which is better known as the MCG or just The G. The 100,000 seat sports stadium was built in 1853 and is the biggest stadium in Australia (and the Southern Hemisphere) – and the 11th largest in the world.

Watch a AFL Melbourne, Australia

Pro Tip: The stadium is now mostly used for Melbourne’s founding game, Australian Football, but also for cricket matches, concerts and in 1956 it hosted the Summer Olympics.

Finish crossing the bridge. From here, those that fancy a bit of nature may want to detour south to the Royal Botanical Gardens (free to enter). War history buffs will want to head south to the Shrine of Remembrance (also free to enter). Otherwise, continue west along the river to…

#16 Eureka Tower and Melbourne Skydeck

Eureka Tower, Melbourne, Australia

You don’t need to go on a Melbourne CBD Walking Tour to see the Eureka Tower; it’s visible from all over the city. However, when you stand at the base of the Eureka Tower and look up at the 975-foot-tall building it seems to go on forever. The top 10 levels are golden in appearance because the glass is gold. The 24-carat gold-plated windows are a nod to Melbourne’s historic gold rush of the 1850s.

View from Eureka Melbourne Sky Deck, Melbourne, AU

Pro Tip: With a ticket , visitors are invited to ride the elevator up to the 88th floor Melbourne Skydeck (formerly the Eureka Skydeck) and take in the view, which is astounding .

Continue strolling west along the Yarra River toward the Polly Woodside ship and take a walk along the…

#17 Polly Woodside and South Wharf Promenade

Pollywoodsides, Melbourne, AU

The Polly Woodside is a preserved trade ship that was launched in Belfast in 1885. Famous for her sixteen successful voyages around Cape Horn between 1885 and 1903, she was fully restored and opened to the public in 1978.

Bar Along Southbank, Melbourne, Australia

Continue your Free Walking Tour Melbourne along the beautiful riverside stretch in South Wharf. The stylish South Wharf Promenade is lined with fun bars and modern restaurants – and is anchored by the Melbourne Convention Center and DFO Shopping Centre.

Pro Tip: Any number of the South Wharf waterfront establishments are the perfect place to have a meal or a drink with a view. It’s particularly nice at sunset!

Continue along the promenade and cross the Webb Bridge and head into the…

#18 Docklands Melbourne

Vie w of Docklands, Melbourne, Australia

The Docklands District is the last stop on our Self-Guided Free Tour of Melbourne. The historic area dates to the 1850s when the Victoria Harbor (then called Victoria Dock) was the main port in Melbourne, accepting both immigrants and shipments.

Docklands Highrises, Melbourne, Australia

The harbor continued to be in use until the 1960s when it was deemed too small for cargo ships. A revitalization project renamed it the Docklands and has breathed new life into the area. Soaring, shining skyscrapers have shot up along the beautiful promenade, which offers a slew of waterfront restaurants alongside entertainment venues.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 06: Donald Glover attends The 2024 Met Gala Celebrating "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 06, 2024 in New York City. (Photo by Aliah Anderson/Getty Images)

Childish Gambino — aka multihyphenate Donald Glover — doesn’t do anything by half, and as he promised last month , he has dropped a new version of his surprise release “ 3.15.20 ” (which quietly dropped in March 2020), under its original title “Atavista,” dates for “The New World Tour,” a massive trek through North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, launching in August. He also released a video for the album’s song “Little Foot Big Foot,” directed by Hiro Murai, featuring Young Nudy.

Popular on Variety

The loaded announcement recalls the Saturday evening in 2018 when he not only hosted “Saturday Night Live” — appearing in nearly every sketch as host and twice as musical guest — but he dropped the complex “This Is America” song and video during the show.

The album, which features songs with Ariana Grande, Summer Walker and others, has been expanded with two new tracks. Its confusing original release took place in the first days of the pandemic, when Glover quietly posted it on a website without song titles, playing on a constant loop, before removing it around 12 hours later. The following week, he officially released it without fanfare or even detailed credits on streaming services.

Arriving as it did at the very beginning of the pandemic lockdown, the album soon faded from the memories of the people who’d noticed it at all. However, based on a conversation posted last month on his Gilga Instagram platform , he released the album in that way because it was unfinished and he simply wanted it to exist in case the world ended.

Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, May 17 at 10am local time. Fans can also sign up for early access to tickets via the artist presale. American Express Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public for North American, Australian and select UK dates.
