We took a tour of London and paris

We took a tour of London, Paris, and Normandy. The amount of support and guidance received from Firebird was amazing. My sister-in-law arranged the tour, but the tour was flexible off for me that arrange a private tour of the Louvre myself . We were able to tour World War II historical sites and D Day beaches in style . I would recommend this experience to anyone who is interested in history and culture. Thank you so much.

Our expectations went above and beyond

Our expectations went above and beyond, during our trip to Morocco and Portugal. from the guided tours, the hotel choices, destinations and excellent transportation. We will definitely be using Firebird for our future trips.

Well Organized

From booking to completion, Alexandra Voloschik and her team did a fantastic job booking and making all the arrangements to ensure a seamless trip for my family and me. All directions on where to find all private transportations were clear and concise. Every driver and their van were clean and polite. All guides spoke English and were very well educated on their topics. Hotel rooms were outstanding. During the trip it was very easy to communicate with someone at Firebird using their app. We all had a worry free trip. I’d definitely book again. Thank you for the experience

Firebird did a fantastic job

Firebird did a fantastic job planning and organizing our entire trip. Everything from the hotels, experienced guides and drivers, even restaurant suggestions were excellent. When we had a question they got back to us with helpful information in a timely manner. Can’t say enough good about our experience. We will use their help again.

Go Firebird, they will take care of you!

The best thing about Firebird is their support. Whenever you need it, they are there - and trust me, when you are overseas on a multi-day adventure, at some point you will indeed need support. Firebird is right there! They have a chat feature on their App (which is also awesome btw) and it works beautifully. The next best thing is their detailed Itinerary, which is supplied BEFORE you even buy the tour. That is great information. You know exactly what is happening each day - and you can change & modify it before purchase. Firebird outperformed all other tour companies in this aspect. Another great thing are the transfers - no more worrying about how to get Uber or Bolt or Taxi and to where. Firebird sets it all up and you just look for your name on a sign - or a convenient text letting you know the meeting point. This makes traveling a lot more enjoyable!

Touring Morocco february 2024

My wife Maria and I toured Morocco with Firebird Tours in February, 2024. It was a remarkable and unforgettable experience, enjoying the sights of Casablanca, the Riff Mountain scenery around Chefchaouen, desert area of Merzouga and finally the delights of Marrakech and all the countryside in between. The food was great, as was the accommodation and the people and guides. Our personal guide/driver Said was excellent - full of knowledge and superb driving skills.

Our overall experience was that we were…

Our overall experience was that we were treated like royalty. From the great hotels to the private tours, I don't know what I expected but this was so much better. The drivers, the guides, the hotel staff., and Firebird support all treated us like family. I could not rate the experience more highly.

An affordable way to plan custom travel

Really enjoyed the flexibility to create the trip I wanted, yet still having the support of a prepackaged tour. Have already been recommending Triptile to our friends who love to travel in this way.

10-day Italian Tour

This was our first experience with Firebird (and first trip to Italy). Small group of eight (4 couples all same age range) that vacillated to four many days due to some illness experienced by others. Tour was well planned and executed. Communication is a forte for Firebird, precision planning is impressive. Every hotel was 4/5 star, every guide was exceptional, transportation was flawless. Truly, Firebird knows how to make a great "first" impression! Highly recommended group.

Wedding anniversary in Spain

My husband and I wanted to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary with a trip to Spain. We wanted a tour with a small group. I found the perfect trip through Firebird which included the main cities and their unique attractions. We didn’t know what to expect since this was our first trip to Europe. We had the most amazing experience way beyond our expectations. The whole trip went so smoothly thanks to the incredible planning of Firebird. The staff, the hotels, the tour guides and the drivers were excellent. I needed an extra day because we were flying out of Madrid. Alex made all the arrangements for transfers and the hotel so we could fly home without inconvenience. We came back home feeling so much happier and relaxed because everything was taking care of. We really liked having the free time to explore on our own since the hotels were located at walking distance of everything. We can’t wait to plan our next trip now that we know Firebird is there to support us along the way to have another memorable adventure.

An Amazing Lapland Experience

Our trip to Lapland was amazing! It was everything I hoped it would be when planning it with Firebird. The communication was on point during planning, during the trip, and follow up. Firebird goes above and beyond to try to make the experience stress free by taking care of the important details that sometimes can be stressful. It's our second big trip planned with Firebird. We will continue using them.

Great Experience

My husband and I had never taken a tour like this before and had no idea what to expect. We were very happy with all the transportation and hotel arrangements. Great hotels, great locations, very good value for the money. The customer service was great, they answered all my questions promptly and kindly. We also liked the amount of free time versus organized activities. All in all a great experience. We would use Firebird tours again.

Second Firebird trip, but not the last

This is the second Firebird trip our family has taken. As a well-traveled and tech-savvy millennial, I couldn’t imagine traveling again without Firebird. The painful logistics, transportation, and tours are all carefully arranged and taken care of in the most convenient manner. It’s changed the way we travel forever and we will be using Firebird again in the future; it was worth every penny.

The entire trip was fantastic

The entire trip was fantastic. The app was so helpful with the itinerary broken down by day, city, hotel, transportation. The tour guides were fantastic. We saw more than what was originally planned as the guides offered stops along the route.

I expected more involvement from Firebird

I was expecting more involvement from Firebird once the tour started. Had to find our way to the Fado show. Dropped off in front of the train station and had to get to the right track on our own. We extended our trip to go to Douro Valley and we waited in the lobby (as instructed) while the driver sat in the van in front of the hotel. When we returned, the hotel had checked us out of our room because they were given the wrong departure date. We toured with a different company last year and everything was handled for us and this was my expectation. It was very stressful trying to resolve some issues from another country with the time difference.

Wonderful trip

This was our first trip with Firebird Tours but definitely won't be the last. Alex P was our agent and so helpful & responsive to all questions or concerns. Hotels, transport, guides were fantastic. Minor issues were addressed by Firebird immediately. Highly recommend Firebird.

Highly recommend Firebird for the perfect vacation!

Firebird consistently helps me to plan and implement the perfect vacation. According to the dates I choose and places I am interested in seeing, Firebird seamlessly incorporates transfers and local guides to meet my schedule. Private tours are impactful and help bridge cultural gaps with language expertise. I have used Firebird to help me plan several vacations and their customer support is invaluable when last minute plans change and adjustments need to be made in a foreign country. I highly recommend their services. Already planning my next vacation with their assistance of course!

Firebird Travel = Worry Free Travel

My husband and I haven't traveled since before Covid and I have lost confidence in my ability to plan and manage all that is required to ensure a successful trip. We had no interest in renting a car and finding our own way and worried about potential confusion regarding train stations and transportation connections because we don't speak or read French. Our general plan included 5 days touring Normandy and 9 days in Paris with dear friends. I had a general idea of which sites we hoped to visit in Normandy but did not know how to make it happen. I had not heard of Firebird Tours before I made my first email inquiry. G*(Trustpilot advises names not be used), a knowledgeable and helpful woman responded to my inquiry. I shared my list of sites we wished to visit and my transportation concerns. G* prepared a draft itinerary and, together, we made adjustments until the itinerary suited our wishes and needs perfectly. G* arranged our hotel stay in Bayeux, train transportation, drivers, tours, and guides. Once my husband and I committed to the final itinerary, we were assigned to Firebird Support, where A*, V*, and L* helped with specifics such as restaurant reservations, questions regarding tour vouchers, and adding a walking tour of Bayeux upon our arrival at our hotel. When we arrived in France we were met at the airport by our first driver who accompanied us into the train station and pointed out what we needed to know to ensure we made it onto our train. Every bit of the trip was perfect, each driver was prompt, the guides excellent, we communicated through the Firebird Tour App and FT Support consistently responded promptly. Each FT agent with whom I communicated earned my confidence, calmed my anxiousness, and helped to create wonderful memories. I can confidently recommend Firebird Tours and will happily use their services again for future travel.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

<< Previous page

Pages:  379-406

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and Museum

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

firebird tours login

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.

firebird tours login

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

firebird tours login

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

firebird tours login

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

firebird tours login

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

firebird tours login

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

firebird tours login

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
