Great for a large group

Alex was incredibly patient answering all my questions during the planning process, and then everything was 99% perfect for our group of 7’s trip to Edinburg and Ireland! Our transports were all roomy enough for us (and our luggage), and the guides were all super friendly and knowledgeable. They were very flexible about making stops as well. We had one large sprinter bus that smelled brand new! Our only “issue” was at two of the hotels (same company ironically). The individual rooms were booked under the wrong names (eg the married couple had three beds vs the king), but we were easily able to move around— so no big deal. The hotels were all decent enough and within walking distance to many things; which was nice with our large group. I would definitely consider using Firebird again for another trip across the pond.

Hi Megan, thank you for sharing your experience. We're happy to know that your group had a great time in Edinburgh and Ireland. It’s good to hear that everything went smoothly, despite a couple of minor hiccups with the hotel rooms. We appreciate your understanding and are excited to help you plan your next trip.

Thank you for planning such a great trip

Thank you for planning such a great trip, we had a wonderful time. I cannot say enough about the promptness and dependability and knowledge of the drivers and tour guides. A special thank you to our driver and tour guides to and at Louders , and Fatima both were outstanding. We had lunch with our driver/ tour guide at Fatima which was a great experience, he was such a nice person. I definitely will use firebird again in the future.

Date of experience : August 11, 2024

Hi Denise, we're so glad to hear that you had a wonderful time on your trip. It sounds like your experiences at Louders and Fatima were particularly memorable. Thank you for your kind words, and we look forward to helping you plan another great adventure in the future.

My son and I just got back from an amazing trip to Munich and Stuttgart. I would definitely recommend Firebird for anyone looking for a turnkey solution with personalized service. Private driver/tour guides for most of the day trips and transfers. Low stress way to travel to foreign country, the precise planning prepared for us by Firebird allowed us to enjoy our time and kept those stressful moments to an absolute minimum. We will be booking another trip, for sure!

Seeing Portugal

Great hotels, informative guides, well organized tours that were neither too long nor too strenuous. The combination of walking tours in the cities & car tours to other sites in the region makes for a great experience.

Date of experience : August 21, 2024

Hi Stephen, we're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your time exploring Portugal with us. The mix of walking and car tours really does make for a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation, doesn’t it? Thank you for sharing your experience, and we can’t wait to welcome you on another journey soon.

Amazing Guides and Great transfers..Overall Firebird rocked.

Two key elements that Firebird shines is ensuring the transfers (Drivers) are well versed and made aware about pick times and drop times. When we had delays due to train issues, the support team stayed in touch and re-arranged the pick ups. The second element was their Guides were amazing. Each day we had a very engaging guide that ensured both the adults and the kids were narrated stories about History and local culture in an efficient way. We stayed in great hotels. The transfers from one city to the other was done seamlessly as well.

Date of experience : August 08, 2024

Hi Vilas, thank you for your thoughtful review. We're happy to know that our guides and transfers made your trip seamless and enjoyable. It's great to hear that both the adults and kids had a fantastic time. We hope to help you create more wonderful memories in the future.

Trip of a lifetime

Firebird designed and managed the trip of a lifetime to New Zealand and Australia. As with a previous trip they organized for me to Switzerland and Italy, their coordination, hotel and tours selection and oversight were perfect. Their support and follow through was very comforting. They are recognized as the best by customers and providers as well. I’ll use them again.

Date of experience : July 01, 2024

Hi Dagoberto, thank you for your continued trust in Firebird Tours. We’re so glad that your trip to New Zealand and Australia was as memorable as your previous one. Your kind words mean a lot to us, and we’re excited to assist you with more adventures in the future.

London / Paris 2024

London / Paris 2024 - This was my first solo trip, and I absolutely loved traveling alone and I will be doing it again.

Date of experience : August 18, 2024

Hi Brenda, we're so glad to hear that your first solo trip was a success. Traveling alone can be such an empowering and liberating experience, and we're happy to have been a part of it. Looking forward to helping you plan your next adventure.

Have used Firebird Tours since 2022

I've used Firebird Tours since 2022. There are at least four reasons I use them exclusively for my foreign touring: 1) Tour customization. Although they have basic tour outlines on their website, your trip is 100 percent customized around your schedule and time constraints. In 2022 we wanted to visit a small town in France where my traveling companion was born. Firebird booked us into a beautiful hotel in the center of town handled train tickets, transfers and guide to a very out-of-the-way location. 2) The best guides. They are certified. They are knowledgeable. They are people persons. 3) Flawless transfers. The chauffeurs are there on time and their cars/vans are beautifully maintained. No taking chances with taxis/uber. No getting stranded and stressed. 4) Great phone app. Your trip itinerary, hotel info, train tickets, etc. are all in one convenient app that Firebird can update as needed. Okay, I need to add: 5) Probably should have been #1. You will be speaking to a real person as you plan your trip! 6) They book you into the finest center-city hotels, ones that I would never think of or find on my own.

Date of experience : August 10, 2024

Hi John, we’re honored to be your go-to for foreign tours. Your appreciation for our customized trips, certified guides, and flawless transfers means the world to us. It’s wonderful to know that our efforts have made your travels smooth and enjoyable. We look forward to continuing to provide you with exceptional experiences on your future journeys.

Beyond Expectations at Every Step

I cannot even begin to say enough amazing things about FireBird Travel and what they did for my wife and I. From my very first contact with Kate (our agent), through her follow up after our return home, everything was TOP NOTCH! Kate and I exchanged at least 30 emails, and about 20 different itineraries before we ever paid a deposit. Kate was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, but also understanding that this was a very special vacation for us (our 25th anniversary). Having never been to Italy before, we had so many ideas in our heads, but didn’t know where to start. She listened to all of them and put together an absolute dream vacation of a lifetime for us! From the very moment we landed in Venice, we were given the VIP experience. Our driver was waiting exactly where the itinerary stated he would be, took our bags, then escorted us to our car, then to a water taxi. This began a 12 day consistent display of kindness and professionalism from every person we interacted with from FireBird. The VIP experience continued at every train station, every hotel and every tour. Every single one of our tour guides brought a love and passion for their cities to our experience. Alessandro in Venice, Sabrina in Florence, Valentina in Rome, and Tony and Giovanni in Sorrento all made their cities come to life in the way only a true local could. They each told us the special, out of the way places we needed to visit to really make our experiences unique. They told stories that we would never have gotten from a large group tour. The one-on-one interactions truly were priceless interactions. We never felt rushed, we asked as many questions as we wanted and laughed our way through the cities together. Each of these guides made our days so special that we felt truly immersed in their culture. They are experiences we will never forget. Our cooking classes in Tuscany and Rome were absolutely incredible. But a true stand out for us was Barbara Desderi in Florence. She was just the sweetest woman who really showed us incredible hospitality and helped us to create the most amazing cooking experience! She deserves to be recognized as someone who not only has a passion and talent for food, but as someone who connects with her clients in such a personal way. Everything, and I do mean everything that FireBird Tours put together for us was beyond exceptional! The hotels, the tours, the guides, the experiences, and even the drivers were incredible. We will absolutely be booking another vacation through FireBird Tours!

Date of experience : June 10, 2024

Hi Daniel, thank you for such a detailed and glowing review. We're delighted that Kate and the rest of our team were able to create a dream vacation for your 25th anniversary. It's wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed the personalized experiences and special touches along the way. We look forward to helping you plan your next unforgettable journey.

ITALY WITH MY GRANDSON

My grandson and I just returned from a ten day tour of Italy (Venice, Florence, Rome, Sorrento and Amalfi Coast). Top shelf all the way, the hotels, the train, the tour guides, the the driver pickups. We were fortunate in that all our tour groups were just the guide, my grandson and I. Customer support before the trip was excellent, thank you Alex and Jennifer. I highly recommend Firebird Tours. I would book with them again.

Date of experience : July 08, 2024

Hi Charles, thank you for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear that you and your grandson had a top-notch experience in Italy, enjoying the personalized tours and seamless logistics. It’s great to know that Alex and Jennifer were able to provide excellent support before your trip. We would be thrilled to assist you with your next adventure!

Almost perfect tour with minor irritants

Three of us took the Scandinavian Cities and Fjords Small Group tour July 14-July 23, while two did a Helsinki add on. We enjoyed the day tours led by Firebird’s local guides In Copenhagen, Oslo, Bergen and Stockholm. They all seem to be well informed and friendly. Firebird provided excellent Hotels in each city which were centrally located and convenient to walking around. In general Firebird Support was excellent during the tour. However, there was some difficulty with checking in the Oslo Hotel, because the reservations were made as a group in agent’s name. The receptionist kept on complaining that Firebird didn’t reserve rooms in names of incoming individuals, which delayed the check in process inordinately. She also stated that Firebird has been informed in the past, but they don’t seem to listen. It is a bit annoying when one arrives at the hotel to check in and has to argue with the staff to get a room. Similarly, some of our group’s members had difficulty checking in flights, because the confirmation number for everyone of us was the same due to group reservation. We would give 5 stars, if these minor irritants didn’t arise. Hope Firebird can use this feedback to improve overall experience of its clients.

Date of experience : July 13, 2024

Hi Prem, thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the guided tours and hotels in Scandinavia. We apologize for the inconveniences you experienced with the check-ins and flight confirmations. Your insights are invaluable, and we'll certainly use them to improve our services. We hope to have the opportunity to provide you with an even better experience on your next journey.

We had a wonderful experience in Scotland and Ireland

We had a wonderful experience overall in Scotland and Ireland. Great hotels and locations. Fabulous guides especially in Edinburgh (Tanja Rensch), and in Inverness (Bob from Caledonian Supreme Tour). They were so knowledgeable and great hosts which made the visit to these cities so interesting and unforgettable. The only quite upsetting experience was choosing the hotel Loch Leven Hotel & Distillery in Fort Williams, Scottland. We even called your customer service department to help us change to another hotel in a more centrally located area of the city to no avail, as we were completely isolated and nothing within walking distance. Our room was upstairs with no lift and with heavy luggage. The room was *old*, there was a terrible smell from the carpet, the bathroom was also dated, and the shower did not work properly. The only thing we enjoyed was the self-paid dinners. Even multiple guides were surprised that you put us in this hotel instead of the Garrison, which is newly remodeled and apparently the hotel of choice where you typically book your guests. Why were we put at the Loch Leven hotel? Additionally, the pictures provided in your literature are not at all representative of the actual facility. This is why we did not give you five stars.

Date of experience : July 22, 2024

Hi Anita, thank you for your review and for sharing both the highlights and challenges of your trip. We’re thrilled that you had wonderful experiences with our guides in Edinburgh and Inverness. We're sorry to hear about the disappointment with the hotel in Fort Williams, and we appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve. We hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a flawless experience on your next trip.

The arrangements are perfect. You never wait for your tour guides or transportation drivers. Hotels are beautiful and always centrally located. We loved it!

Everything about our trip was perfect. Private tours are the way to go. Traveled with family including two kids and the accommodations were perfect. Tours are customized to your personal needs and preferences. I want to add that our cooking class in Como with Paola and her beautiful family was the highlight of our trip! We felt like family. My family was so relaxed and everything was simply delicious. Thank you for making that arrangement for us. We will never forget it.

Date of experience : June 29, 2024

Hi Valerie, thank you for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear that everything about your trip was perfect, from the private tours to the accommodations. It’s especially heartwarming to know that your cooking class in Como with Paola and her family was the highlight of your trip. We look forward to helping you create more unforgettable memories in the future!

Best Decision We Made

Firebird was great to work with, and patient and we came through various options for our trip. Alex at Firebird offered multiple options and didn't pressure us as we were uncertain on exactly what we wanted. Trip went great, and all the accommodations were top notch. We will use Firebird again in the future without a doubt.

It’s wonderful to hear that you’re looking forward to using Firebird Tours again in the future. We’ll be here whenever you’re ready for your next adventure!

Firebird Tours planned a great trip for our family of four.

We just returned from a 10 day trip to Portugal with Firebird Tours. We are 81 and 83 years old and the trip would not have been possible without the help of our daughters as our traveling companions and also without the help of Firebird Tours. Firebird helped us plan a great itinerary, They customized the tour to accomodate our special needs as my husband has low vision issues and safety is a top priority. The hotels they chose were top notch, comfortable, conveniently located, with professional staff and delicious breakfasts. The guides for our daily excursions were outstanding, knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely kind and patient with our slower pace. We had a wonderful time and will savor the memories forever.

Hi Cherry, thank you for your heartfelt review. We’re so glad that you and your husband had a wonderful trip to Portugal with the help of your daughters and Firebird Tours. It’s great to know that the customized itinerary and our guides were able to accommodate your needs and provide an enjoyable experience. We’re thrilled that you’ll be cherishing these memories and look forward to assisting you with more adventures in the future.

Disappointed with their service

For some reason Firebird booked our hotel rooms with fictitious names. When we arrived at our hotels, the staff would inform us that we did not have a reservation with them. It was extremely stressful sorting out the situation contacting Firebird and having them contact the hotel. After the first city on our tour Firebird assured us that the problem had been rectified. It had not. We had the same issue with two other hotels. It added an unnecessary stress to our trip. Additionally, I relied on Firebird to book our tours in the different cities we visited, assuming they would have the expertise to know when experiences would be available. They scheduled a museum tour on a day that the museum was closed and did not schedule enough time for one of our tours, so we had to rush through it. Overall, I was disappointed with Firebird's service on this trip. I will not be using them again.

Date of experience : May 19, 2024

We are extremely sorry for the issue that you had encountered on hotel check in. The glitch in system was already resolved, shortly after that was discovered. Our sincere apology for the unnecessary stress. Of course your rooms in each city were booked long in advance. You are absolutely correct about the museum schedule. We should had notified you and offered alternatives sooner. Our apology and sincerely hope that these two issues didn't prevent you from fully enjoying amazing Scandinavia and Scotland.

Scotland Ireland Trip

Firebird did an excellent job in helping plan our trip to Scotland and Ireland. The hotels, guides and other activities were terrific! Every detail was planned out and executed wonderfully! We will use Firebird again!

Not worth the time

Absolutely waste of time. I reached out to them several times only for them to reply, we’ll get back to you. Now it’s been almost 3 weeks with one week of absolutely no reply—just to find out they’ve deleted all the conversations and in order for me to figure out my travel, I’d have to restart the whole stupid process. Honestly not worth the time to talk to Victoria or Alexandra, they won’t get back to you.

Amazing App!

I have installed the app and it is very very useful during my trip. I can easily access my travel itinerary and see the details that I need. Highly recommend 👌

Self- Guided Driving Tour

Welcome to Gonzales, where Texas freedom was born!

In 1825 Green DeWitt established the capital of his colony at the confluence of the Guadalupe and San Marcos Rivers.  Gonzales has seven public squares laid out in the center of town and has retained the plan of the town as originally surveyed. Gonzales played a major role in Texas’ fight for independence. It was the site of the first shot of the revolution. Forty members of the colony died in the Alamo, including the Immortal Thirty-Two, who were the only men to answer Travis’ desperate call for reinforcements. Gonzales was also the site of the Run-Away Scrape, which began Sam Houston’s famous retreat to victory at San Jacinto.

We invite you to tour our town.
Signs with the ‘Come & Take It’ Cannon will guide you around town & brochures are available at the chamber office in the Old Jail Museum, where the tour begins.
