I have never seen Mudvayne before and I wish of could of when they were still together. I ❤️ Chad Gray and I know I ❤️ him in Hellyeah and I was glad I got to see Hellyeah for the first time this year back on May 13 at Rockfest in CB and they were amazing.

For some reason, when US band Mudvayne first emerged around the turn of the millennium they were lumped in with the nu metal crowd. Well, I know the reason: because they wore makeup and costumes not a million miles away from bands like Slipknot and Mushroomhead. However, this four-piece from Illinois were much more technical and experimental than the rest of the scene, with a sound much closer to math metal.

Regrettably, probably due to sales, Mudvayne have tended to focus on touring America rather than crossing the pond to Europe. But when they have come over, they have been electric. Particularly during the early part of their career, around the release of the first and second albums L.D. 50 (2000) and The End Of All Things To Come (2002), their shows were adrenaline-fuelled and frantic, with the four members often in makeup and costumes (the best shows were when they’d play in ‘roadkill’, blood-splattered animal outfits).

Songs like ‘Dig’ and ‘Not Falling’ have become alt-metal anthems and nothing beats hearing Chad Gray’s distinctive scream live, but their more melodic side is often overlooked – Gray has a great melodic voice and prog ballads like ‘World So Cold’ hit hardest in the live arena.

Their later career has seen them tone down the mathy aggression in favour of a more straightforward rock approach, and they seem to be on something of a hiatus while Gray focuses on his sideproject Hellyeah, but here’s hoping they reunite - and reunite with some renewed venom - as soon as possible.

Featuring Mudvayne and All That Remains

Tickets for the 33-city nationwide tour on-sale this friday, april 26.

Megadeth is bringing its iconic live show to North America with a 33-city, nationwide tour, Destroy All Enemies, produced by Live Nation, this fall including stops in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Boston, St. Louis and many more. Mudvayne was an American heavy metal band formed in Peoria, Illinois, in 1996 by guitarist Greg Tribbett, drummer Matthew McDonough and bassist Shawn Barclay with vocalist Chad Gray signing on soon after. For the first time in 14 years, Mudvayne will be embarking on a massive headlining tour across America taking place in 2023. The Psychotherapy Sessions tour kicks off July 20th in West Palm Beach and stretches through August invading markets like Tampa, Wantagh, Charlotte, Burgettstown, Clarkston, Dallas, Phoenix, Irvine, Reno and their hometown of Peoria. Joining the tour in support will be special guests Coal Chamber , GWAR , Nonpoint and Butcher Babies .

UPDATE: Later in 2024, the band will be hitting the road along with support from All That Remains making stops in North Charleston, Grand Rapids, Madison and Green Bay.

Mudvayne recently spent portions of 2022 joining Rob Zombie during his Freaks on Parade Tour along with Static-X and Powerman 5000 . Their last self-titled album was released back in 2009 and includes the single 'Scream with Me' which reached #3 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. The following year, the Gold-selling band began an extended hiatus and eventually reunited in 2021 with longtime members Greg Tribbett, Matthew McDonough, Chad Gray and Ryan Martinie.

Mudvayne is a heavy metal band that is both aesthetically and sonically attention-grabbing. Their morphing fusion of metal-rock influences and a visual aesthetic focused on face coverings and grungy face painting have been the trademark of the band since 1996. Greg Tribbett on guitar (Gurgg), Matthew McDonough on drums (sPaG), Chad Gray on lead vocals (Kud), and Ryan Martinie on bass make up the band (Rü-d).

The band was formed in 1996 in Peoria, Illinois. It would take them some time to record a studio album, which finally occurred in 2000 with "L.D. 50." This album would mark their rise to stardom as it topped the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. The band explored darker themes on their sophomore album entitled "The End of All Things to Come." The experimentation done on this album paid off when it became one of 2002s well-received metal albums. "Lost and Found" followed suit in 2005. The album's track "Forget to Remember" became part of the Saw II movie soundtrack. "The New Game" (2008) and "Mudvayne" (2009) came out before their hiatus in 2010.

After a decade of hiatus and a recent tour, the band is back on the road again for their "Psychotherapy Sessions" tour. Performing with the band are the rock bands Coal Chamber, Gwar, Nonpoint, and Butcher Babies. Coal Chambers is a nu-metal band with fiery songs such as "Loco" and "Fiend." Gwar is a heavy metal band with rotating members, notable for their outward costumes and songs like "Sick of You" and "Let Us Slay." Nonpoint is a rock band from Florida, popular for the song "What a Day." Representing groove rock, Butcher Babies rose to prominence with songs "Monster Ball" and "Grim Sleeper."
