"America’s Got Talent" has kicked off its 18th season with two audition episodes, airing weekly on Tuesday nights.

The show resumed on May 30 with its familiar premise: performers compete for a $1 million dollar prize. This season features celebrity judges Simon Cowell , Heidi Klum , Howie Mandel and Sofía Vergara as well as host Terry Crews .

Last week’s episode saw several sensational acts progress to the next round after gaining the judges approval. Indonesian singer-songwriter Putri Ariani earned the golden buzzer with her performance of an original song. “What’s happened over the past few years is that people now are flying in from all over the world to perform on the show,” Cowell says. “You’re going to see and meet some people who are jaw-droppingly good.”

The biggest pop-punk reunion of last year is keeping the momentum going into 2024. Built to spill.

Built to Spill released their influential second studio album, There’s Nothing Wrong With Love , back in 1994. To celebrate the indie-rock touchstone’s 30th anniversary this year, the band will perform it in full on a series of dates starting this summer through the fall. The dates begin in Boise—where Built to Spill originally formed—and will take the trio through Portland, Chicago, New York, and more major cities. With the release of her sophomore LP, My Light, My Destroyer , the singer-songwriter will embark on a tour of North America and Europe throughout the autumn. Jenkins previewed her new LP with the sauntering “Only One” and glassy highlight “Delphinium Blue,” which should give you an idea of the kind of luminous show Jenkins puts on.

Charli xcx / troye sivan.

Charli XCX and Troye Sivan famously have two big songs together, “1999” and “2099,” and they’re adding to their collaborative history with a joint tour called Charli XCX & Troye Sivan Present: Sweat Tour. The shows take place across North America in September and October.

Charly bliss.

It’s been five years since Charly Bliss last released an album, so the Brooklyn power-pop band plans on pulling out all the stops for new LP Forever . After the follow-up to 2019’s Young Enough comes out on August 16, Charly Bliss will tour across the United States and Canada this fall. The run begins on September 5 in Washington D.C. and brings them through major cities like Toronto, Chicago, St. Louis, Los Angeles, Austin, and Philadelphia. Openers haven’t been revealed just yet, but knowing how high-energy Charly Bliss shows are, it’s bound to be a giddy, heart-racing time.

Charly Bliss: Forever and Ever Tour

Childish gambino.

The last time Childish Gambino hit the road was in 2018 for his This Is America Tour, supporting the viral “ This Is America .” Nearly six years later, and following Atavista —which the artist described as “the finished version” of 3.15.20 —Donald Glover resurrects his alter ego for a three-leg run spanning North America, Europe, and Australasia. Dubbed the New World Tour, the seven-month stretch kicks off at Oklahoma City’s Paycom Center on August 11 and ends at Australia’s RAC Arena on February 11, with Amaarae and Willow joining select dates. The tour is in support of new album Bando Stone & the New World .

Childish Gambino: The New World Tour

After performing at Mustafa’s latest Artists for Aid benefit concert for Palestine and Sudan, on July 4, at London’s Troxy, Clairo will enjoy the rest of the summer before preparing for her fall shows. In support of her third studio album and Sling follow-up, Charm , the singer-songwriter has scheduled five nights at Los Angeles’ the Fonda Theatre and New York’s Webster Hall in September. Plus, on November 15, Clairo is set to perform at Mexico City’s annual Corona Capital festival.

Clairo: Charm Residency

Cloud nothings.

When Cloud Nothings released Here and Nowhere Else , in 2014, they had already attained cult status for the blistering, Steve Albini–produced Attack on Memory . The follow-up, another noisy and brutally melodic affair, promised they were in it for the long haul, as this 10th-anniversary tour confirms. The dates kick off with two nights in their native Ohio, before spanning North America and winding up in Chicago. Equipment, Farmer’s Wife, and Armlock support select dates.

Cloud Nothings: Here and Nowhere Else 10 Year Anniversary Tour

Mellow psych-rockers Crumb dropped their third full-length album, Amama , back in May, and it boasts hypnotic singles like “ The Bug ” and its title track . Crumb will finally break out those new songs live when they start their long-awaited tour in support of that LP in Des Moines, Iowa, on July 18—just three days before their performance at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago. Crumb will stay on the road for most of the fall, performing across the United States and Canada into late October, and L’Rain , Vagabon , and Discovery Zone will join them at select shows along the way.

Crumb: amama tour, cyndi lauper.

Cyndi Lauper’s Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour begins in Montreal on October 18 and ends in Chicago on December 5. With 23 stops across the continent, it will be a goodbye to the road, of course, but also the pop legend’s first major run in over a decade, featuring her debut headlining performance at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Cyndi Lauper: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour

Honduran American artist Empress Of released her new album, the synth-spangled For Your Consideration , in the spring. She’s been on the road ever since, and will continue the trek with an autumn tour that kicks off in California in September. The singer-songwriter’s itinerary will take her through North America and Europe, including stops in New York, Seattle, Paris, and Montreal, plus a performance at Pitchfork Music Festival London in November.

Fontaines d.c..

The new era of Fontaines D.C. proceeds apace. The band returned, newly homed at XL Recordings , with the nervy, psychedelia-tinged single “Starburster,” with its fourth album, Romance , set to follow in August. The stadium-sized sound of the record is tailored to some of the biggest shows of the group’s career (albeit not in actual stadiums), including several major festival dates, a Hollywood Palladium headline set, two shows at Brooklyn Paramount, and two more at London’s Alexandra Palace.

Fontaines D.C.: Romance USA & Canada Tour 2024

Future / metro boomin.

Future and Metro Boomin have released two collaborative albums this year— We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You —and they’re going to stick together when they begin the We Trust You Tour in the summer. Other notable cities include Seattle, Kansas City, and Milwaukee, with two-night stops in Los Angeles and Chicago.

When Green Day resume their tour in late July, they’ll have no shortage of support, as they are touring North America with the Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and the Linda Lindas. The U.S. leg wraps up on September 28 in San Diego’s Petco Park, and, then, the band will head to South Africa for two stadium shows, featuring performances from the Offspring and Fokofpolisiekar. Green Day are on the road in support of their latest album, Saviors (plus the 30th anniversary of Dookie and the 20th anniversary of American Idiot ).

Idles have had so many shows in support of new album Tangk —and there are more to come. The group has shows in Europe through August, and Idles come back to North America in September. But it doesn’t end there—catch Idles touring Mexico and Europe (again) to cap off 2024 before they kick off the new year with shows in New Zealand, Australia, and Japan.

Iron & wine.

Iron & Wine’s Sam Beam has planned an extensive summer tour behind his new album, Light Verse , the indie-folk artist’s first LP since 2017, which features contributions from Fiona Apple, keyboardist Tyler Chester, bassist Sebastian Steinberg, guitarist David Garza, violinist Paul Cartwright, and percussionists Griffin Goldsmith, Beth Goodfellow, and Kyle Crane. The set of dates started in June in Milwaukee and will take Beam through North America into August. He has European shows for the fall, too.

Jane’s addiction.

The classic lineup of Jane’s Addiction is currently touring for the first time in 14 years. Singer Perry Farrell , guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Eric Avery embarked on their North American jaunt in late May, but they still have a number of cities to play—including Las Vegas, San Diego, Houston, Tampa, Milwaukee, and many more. Their final stop takes place on September 29 at St. Louis’ Evolution Festival. English rock band Love and Rockets are supporting Jane’s Addiction for the final leg of their tour.

Marr and James will stop in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, and more cities. “I’ve been a fan of theirs ever since and being out on tour again after 40 years is a really great thing,” Marr has said.

Militarie gun.

The hardest-working touring band in post-hardcore is dead set on maintaining that title in 2024. Los Angeles’ Militarie Gun started this year on the road for their North American headlining tour and won’t park the van until they’re done with their ever-expanding tour by the fall. All along, they’ve been bringing Life Under the Gun , their long-awaited debut album, to life at venues and festival stages alike.

Missy elliott.

For the first time in her long and legendary career, Missy Elliott is embarking on a headlining tour of North America. Upon announcing the tour, Elliott confessed: “I had to do it big, and I had to do it with family!”

Out of This World — The Missy Elliott Experience

She may not be an outspoken artist online, but, behind the scenes, Mitski is making every word count. While TikTok was busy fawning over “My Love Mine All Mine,” Mitski was putting in the work to find a music venue that offers fair merch rates while still booking a place big enough to house her sizable fandom at each stop. The result of her efforts is a North American tour with multiple nights at theaters around the country in support of The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We .

Orville peck.

Earlier this year, country crooner Orville Peck released the new single “Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond of Each Other,” a cover and collaboration with Willie Nelson that doubled as the first taste of a duets album called Stampede . He’s also bringing the new music on the road through North America. Peck has recruited various supporting acts to open, including Durand Jones, Jaime Wyatt, Debii Dawson, and others, but you can probably count on a few surprise appearances from artists who feature on Stampede to pop up along the way, too.

When Pearl Jam announced their new album, Dark Matter , along with news of a world tour, it marked a first in the band’s long, storied career. That simultaneous reveal seemed to match the excitement and wild nature of the record itself, or at least its self-titled single. Onstage, while performing new material, cherry-picking classics, and breaking out deep cuts from their extensive catalog, Pearl Jam will bring that enthusiasm to nine countries over the course of the year. The tour began in May, and will last through November.

Pearl Jam: Dark Matter World Tour 2024

Fresh off their successful triple-bill North American tour with Modest Mouse and Cat Power , Pixies are wasting no time hitting the road again—this time traversing Europe and Australia. In Australia and New Zealand, the alt-rock legends will be supporting Pearl Jam’s Dark Matter World Tour for their last quarter of shows.

If you would like to know almost nothing about what those shows will entail, look no further than his accompanying statement: “I will be alone on stage,” Yorke said, “trying a new kind of solo show thing playing versions of the songs I have written from my recent and not so recent past.”

Tomb mold / horrendous.

Toronto’s sci-fi obsessed trio Tomb Mold and Philadelphia death metal quartet Horrendous both dropped pummeling albums in 2023—the former shared The Enduring Spirit , the latter released Ontological Mysterium —that should sound twice as loud live as they do on record. Luckily, they’re joining forces for a run of shows. Dubbed the Enraptured by Fate’s Tangled Thread Tour, it’s currently underway and lasts through the end of the month, concluding in Brooklyn on July 27. According to Horrendous, it’s been a long time coming— six years , to be exact. Ever since they played a weekend-long stint of live shows with Tomb Mold in 2018, they’ve been trying to scheme how to organize a proper tour together. At long last, it’s finally here.

Since then, the Long Beach rapper has been busy with his Netflix series The Vince Staples Show , getting that renewed for another season, and plotting a headlining tour. Taking place this fall, the Black in America Tour will bring Staples across North America with special guest Baby Rose in tow. Before that, though, Staples will play a handful of shows in Europe as well as a festival date at Chicago’s Lollapalooza in August.

Wimbledon women’s final: Why there will be eight different winners in eight years

Tunisia's Ons Jabeur (rear) misses to return the ball to Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina during their women's singles final tennis match on the thirteenth day of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships at The All England Tennis Club in Wimbledon, southwest London, on July 9, 2022. - RESTRICTED TO EDITORIAL USE (Photo by Adrian DENNIS / AFP) / RESTRICTED TO EDITORIAL USE (Photo by ADRIAN DENNIS/AFP via Getty Images)

In the 17 years between 2000 and 2016, six women won the Wimbledon title — and the two winners with the most trophies between them had the same surname. Venus and Serena Williams, Petra Kvitova, Maria Sharapova, Marion Bartoli, and Amelie Mauresmo lifted the Venus Rosewater Dish, with the Williams sisters’ combined 12 titles (and four finals in which they played each other) bringing an atmosphere of inevitability that was occasionally and happily injected with surprise.

Since then, including Serena’s last title in 2016, seven different women have won Wimbledon in seven tournaments, with the 2020 edition having been cancelled due to Covid-19: Williams, Garbine Muguruza, Angelique Kerber, Simona Halep, Ash Barty, Elena Rybakina, and Marketa Vondrousova.

agt tour 2023

On Saturday, July 13, an eighth will follow, when Italy’s Jasmine Paolini , who had never won a tour-level match on grass until last month, takes on Barbora Krejcikova , the Czech whose best result at the All England Club before this year was the fourth round. They have come through a draw in which the top seeds have fallen at regular intervals, starting with Belarusian world No 3 Aryna Sabalenka withdrawing with a shoulder injury before her first-round match. Vondrousova, also Czech, who won Wimbledon in 2023 as an unseeded player, lost in the first round to another unseeded player, Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro — the first time a defending champion had lost in the first round since 1994 and only the second time in the Open Era.

White whales and green grass: Why Wimbledon is the Grand Slam title every player craves

Then Iga Swiatek, the Polish world No 1, winner of three consecutive Masters 1000 and Grand Slam tournaments combined, and runaway leader at the top of the WTA rankings, lost to world No 35 Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan. No 19 seed Emma Navarro knocked out No 2 and U.S. compatriot Coco Gauff with a similarly flawless performance when Gauff had looked poised to benefit from three of the top four being either out of the tournament before playing or on the other side of the draw.

Finally, Krejcikova took out Putintseva’s compatriot and world No 4 Rybakina — the last former Wimbledon champion standing — in a comeback win from a set down in their semifinal on Friday. It’s easy to ascribe this kind of randomness, both within the draw and in the last seven years, to some inherent, inchoate unpredictability in women’s tennis. Instead, Wimbledon’s outlier status and the results that the tournament produces are connected to a history of dominance in the 2000s and the changing influence of its most famous factor: the grass.

agt tour 2023

The top four women’s players in the world — Swiatek, Gauff, Sabalenka, and Rybakina — have won the last eight of the last nine majors. Away from Wimbledon, Swiatek has three consecutive French Opens and four in total, Sabalenka has won the last two Australian Opens, and Gauff won the U.S. Open in 2023 after Swiatek won it in 2022. One of Sabalenka, Swiatek and Rybakina have been in the semis of each of the last 13 majors.

At Wimbledon, only Rybakina has reached a final, let alone won a title — Sabalenka has reached two semifinals, in 2021 and 2023, but Gauff and Swiatek’s best results are the fourth round and the quarterfinals respectively. The women’s Wimbledon event has begun to resemble the French Open on the men’s side towards the end of the 1990s and early to mid 2000s, in which three different winners, Albert Costa, Juan Carlos Ferrero and Gaston Gaudio, never won another major in their careers. Martin Verkerk, a Dutch player whose best result at any Grand Slam tournament was otherwise the second round, reached the 2003 final.

agt tour 2023

During that period, it felt as though whoever could get a grip of the clay for a few matches had a shot at the title, and something similar is happening in the women’s draw at Wimbledon, exacerbated by the shortness of the grass season, the priorities of the best players on the tour and, as always happens in tennis, some in-match variance.

Generally, the winners have not been surface specialists, with only Serena Williams from the last eight editions reaching a subsequent final after lifting the trophy. This being Krejcikova and Paolini’s first and last final would not be a surprise. Of the last seven winners, former world No 1 Ash Barty is the player who looked best set to start dominating the tournament, given the high quality of her devastating slice, but she retired after winning the title aged 25. Wimbledon was always Barty’s dream, she said — winning it the once was perfect.

agt tour 2023

Swiatek, the player who has replaced Barty at the top of the women’s game, keeps arriving in south-west London on the back of non-stop tennis after winning the French Open — and often the Masters 1000 clay-court tournaments before it in Rome and Madrid, which now run two weeks each.

Grass is also a surface that few of the top players grow up on. Naomi Osaka, who has won two U.S. and Australian Opens each, has never gone beyond the third round here, not just because she didn’t grow up on it, but because she didn’t play junior events. When she was dominant on hard courts around the turn of the last decade, this was a big equaliser at the third Grand Slam of the year and players like Halep and Kerber, who weren’t necessarily grass-court specialists, took advantage. The higher variance of three-set tennis also adds to unpredictability, exacerbated by a surface which is already a leveller.

It’s going beyond the surface that reveals the complicated dynamics at the heart of something which looks simple. Of the four semifinalists in this surprise Wimbledon, Rybakina and Krejcikova are Grand Slam winners, Paolini reached the French Open final, and Vekic has reached two major quarterfinals.

Swiatek’s loss to Putintseva came less from grass and more from the fact that, after Swiatek won the first set relatively easily, Putintseva reeled off one unforced error in 13 games, peaking and riding her own momentum to overwhelm the world No 1. She might have instituted a Plan B, but that wasn’t really caused by the surface. Her previous Wimbledon defeats came to Elina Svitolina (2023), riding her own wave of crowd support, known giant-killer Alize Cornet (2022) and Ons Jabeur (2021), widely regarded as one of the grass-court specialists on the WTA Tour and a two-time Wimbledon finalist. In last year’s warm-up tournament in Bad Homburg, Germany, she cruised into the semifinals before withdrawing with illness.

agt tour 2023

Add in the wider distribution of major winners on the women’s tour compared to the men’s — and a tournament dynamic with no clear favourite but plenty of previous winners or deep runners — and riders can very quickly emerge. There are “dormant volcanoes” all over the map, as broadcaster Matt Roberts put it on the Tennis Podcast this week. When the women’s draw was made, there were 14 slam winners in the 128, compared to six men — two of whom were Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka, who knew they had zero chance of winning the title.

This year it’s been Krejcikova who’s stepped back into the spotlight. Next year it could be Jelena Ostapenko, or one of the emerging young players like Mirra Andreeva, who herself reached the French Open semifinals before losing in the first round here to up-and-coming Czech Brenda Fruhvirtova.

In some ways, the apparent chaos of Wimbledon coupled with the relative predictability of the other majors is a compelling combination, even if that chaos is a little more ordered than it looks at first glance. It’s at the sharp end of Wimbledon, which by the end of Saturday’s final will have its eighth different winner and twelfth different finalist since 2016, that the outcome is hardest to call.

Roll on the weekend.

This Fan Favorite Voice Artist's Little Brother Just Won an AGT Golden Buzzer (VIDEO)

Ryley Tate Wilson advanced all the way to  The Voice  Semifinals in 2023. Now his brother Reid competes on AGT 19.

agt tour 2023

Unbelievable music talent is clearly genetic when it comes to the Wilson brothers.

How to Watch

Watch America’s Got Talent Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock .

During the sixth round of  America's Got Talent   Season 19 Auditions, a nervous Reid Wilson took the stage. However, the soft spoken 14-year-old Alabama native and "middle child" completely transformed when he broke out into his version of Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me." The soulful teen belted a series of unbelievable notes and earned a standing ovation, with Reid even snagging Howie Mandel's second Golden Buzzer of the season . This means the youngster had advanced directly to the Live Shows.

"I was bowled over because I was surprised," Mandel said. "I put myself in your position, and you were very nervous... And you know what? That stage is where things come true."

But Reid's success makes even more sense when you consider who his brother is: Team Niall's  The Voice   Season 23 artist, Ryley Tate Wilson.

Brothers Reid and Ryley Tate Wilson

A split of Ryley Tate Wilson on The Voice and Reid Wilson on Americas Got Talent

After his four-chair turn Blind Audition when he sang “Dancing On My Own” by Robyn, Reid (who was 15 years old at the time) had a successful turn throughout the competition, even earning a Playoff Pass  and advancing to the Semi-Finals where he was eliminated a week before the Finale and Gina Miles' win .

"I have four siblings. I feel different from a lot of them,” Ryley said at the time. “They all like to do sports … and I’m more on the arts side of things. I can definitely feel distance sometimes when they're doing their things and I'm doing mine.”

He added, “My siblings are definitely very supportive. With a lot of my performances I’ve done they are in the audience cheering me on and I really appreciate them for that.”

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ryley Tate Wilson (@its_ryleytate)

It seems that in the time since he was on  The Voice, in Reid, Ryley now has a sibling that understands his passion for music. He even runs his little brother's official Instagram account ( its_reidthomas ) where you can find the two collaborating with one another.

"POV: your little brother is secretly an amazing singer," Ryley wrote in a July 2023 video of Reid singing Kesha's "Praying". There are also clips of the two duetting The Weeknd's "Call Out My Name" and "ICU" by Coco Jones.

agt tour 2023

The brothers also appeared on  The Jennifer Hudson Show   together after Reid went viral from sharing his singing videos. Ryley played the piano as Reid held his own and duetted with Hudson.

And something tells us big brother will be there to support Reid throughout his  AGT  run. He knows a little something about reality competition shows after all.
