Jana Duggar Shows Off Her Nebraska Fixer Upper with New Husband — and Calls on Dad Jim Bob for Help!

The former ‘Counting On’ star revealed she was relocating to her husband Stephen Wissmann’s hometown after the pair tied the knot on Thursday, Aug. 15

Jana Duggar is sharing an update on her Nebraska fixer upper!

The former Counting On star, 34, brought her YouTube subscribers on a tour of the home that she’s renovating with her new husband Stephen Wissmann . In addition to giving a rundown of the space, Jana showed off a little bit of the demo process — and enlisted the help of her dad Jim Bob Duggar and her sisters.

“My dad and some of my sisters have come up to help us with demo day at our fixer upper,” she explains in the video.

The camera cuts to Jim Bob teaching them how to remove the closet doors from one of the rooms. She then shows her sisters helping to remove the carpets and calls the process “a little gross” when they discover some moisture underneath.

In another scene, Jim Bob and Wissmann work together to rip out one of the walls. Over the clip, Jana writes, “Of course, we have plenty of fun on the job too!”

Earlier in the video, Jana explains how she and her husband plan to demolish the wall between the first and second bedroom to create one large primary suite.

After the wall is out, she marvels at how the space looks “so much bigger.” She also notes how grateful she is for her helpers.

“It’s amazing to me how fast a project like this can move along with so many people in here volunteering their time and energy to help. We are so thankful for all the extra workers,” she says.

While giving a tour of the five-bedroom abode, Jana brings viewers downstairs and reveals how the expansive living area might be turned into a game room or a home theater.

Upstairs, she notes how they want to rip out the glossy wood floor in the open kitchen and living space as it’s “noisy” to walk on and “it never looks clean.” They also ripped out one of the closets to make the room feel even bigger.

“Even though this place feels a bit gutted, I have to say, just looking out here, I am so in love with this natural light,” she says. "That is something that this home really has going for it. Lots of great windows on every side. I can’t wait to see how this place comes together."

Jana — who is the eldest daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar ’s 19 children — tied the knot with Wissmann in Prairie Grove, Ark. on Thursday, Aug. 15. During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the former TLC star revealed her and her husband’s plans to relocate to Wissmann's hometown in Nebraska.

"He has a little house we bought that we've been fixing up and getting pulled together, and so that's been fun," Jana shared.

Over the years, Jana says she worried that getting married might not be in the cards for her.

"I think as I got older, it definitely came on more and more and it felt like, 'Okay, this isn't happening. Let me figure out something else, maybe I'm supposed to be doing something else,' " she says.

Jana says she "dated around," but nothing ever materialized. "I'm just like, 'What is it? Is it me? Do I have a problem?'"

She adds, "I haven't always understood what the bigger picture is, but I know that God knows what is best for all of us. And so for me, it's getting married later. Each of our stories will be written differently. If we were all the exact same, it would be a boring life. So I think it's neat how God orchestrates."

It takes a lot of effort and inventory to feed 19 children. The Duggars tackled this obstacle like they do everything else, with love and organization!

They have a pantry unlike any you have probably ever seen. It looks like a small grocery store. In 2013, Jessa took “19 Kids And Counting “ viewers on a tour of their pantry. Your jaw just might drop as you watch her walk through it.

They buy their food in bulk to save money. With 19 kids, pinching pennies is not an option. It’s a necessity. With so many teens, the Duggars have to constantly restock their food. The kids are allowed to go into the pantry and grab some snacks when they are hungry. The most requested snacks are on lower shelves so the younger kids can easily get them.

While giving a tour of the pantry, Jessa also explained how Michelle has the kids cooking at a young age. Everyone has to pitch in and help out. These are also important life skills the kids will need later in life.

You can see the Duggar’s pantry, which resembles an in-house market, in the video below.

The Duggars do things a lot differently than the average American family. With so many kids, they have to! Jim Bob and Michelle have all the girls sleep in one room and all the boys in another. This makes for some very big rooms!

Jill gave viewers a tour of the girls’ room in 2013. There were 9 girls sharing a room at the time. Jill reports that they absolutely loved it. Each night was like a slumber party. Sharing a room clearly helped secure the bonds between these numerous sisters!

That video is below.

Wow! Most teens would want their own bedrooms, but these girls like spending time with their sisters!

Share this if you love the Duggar family!

Jana Duggar Pokes Fun at Relationship Status After Sparking Engagement Rumors: ‘Just Kidding’

Feature Jana Duggar Pokes Fun at Relationship Status After Sparking Engagement Rumors

Jana Duggar seemingly poked fun at recent speculation surrounding her love life.

The Counting On alum, 34, gave fans an inside look at her “tiny house” in a Monday, July 15, YouTube video . “I moved in here a few years ago, and over time, I’ve just worked on this place, making it a little bit more of my own,” she shared.

Among her home’s personal touches is a detachable projector screen for movie nights with friends. While taking the screen down, Duggar told viewers, “We have to move Alfred,” referring to her stuffed animal gorilla toy.

“My boyfriend gave it to me,” she stated, before clarifying she was telling a joke. “No, just kidding.”

The stuffy was actually a gift from her younger brother James Duggar . “He surprised me one day, and he’s like, ‘Jana, I got you something. I got you a little friend,’” she shared. “Isn’t he so cute?”

Jana’s home tour video comes one week after she sparked engagement rumors by sporting what looked like a diamond ring on her left hand in a July 8 Instagram carousel . The post, which did not have a caption, featured several pics of Jana hanging out with her twin brother, John-David Duggar , and his wife, Abbie Duggar . The couple, who wed in 2018, share two children.

“Is that an engagement ring on Jana’s hand? I sure hope so,” one fan commented on the post. Another wrote, “Engagement ring?!! Did I miss something?”

A third user joked, “Jana eating popcorn and laughing while reading comments about the ‘ring’ 😂.”

Unlike several of her 18 siblings, the former TLC star has yet to tie the knot. Jana exclusively told Us Weekly in July 2020 that she was “not that worried” about finding The One.

“Yes, I long to be married and one day I think that will come, but I think … I’m just also just trying to stay busy with whatever comes along my path,” she explained at the time.

After taking some time off from social media, Jana returned to Instagram in May by sharing a video of her garden’s pretty purple flowers, which she captioned, “Spring beauty.” She also shared a new photo of herself with her mother, Michelle Duggar , for Mother’s Day.

Last month, she gave fans another life update in a YouTube video . The upload featured clips of Jana working around her farm by cleaning out her shed, gardening, building a new fence and taking care of dozens of adorable animals.

Inside the Duggars’ MESSIEST homes featuring Jessa’s unflushed toilet, Jana’s overflowing closet & Jill’s dirty carpet

  • Caitlyn Hitt
  • Published : 19:15 ET, Jan 16 2022
  • Updated : 19:15 ET, Jan 16 2022

THE Duggar children have a well-documented history of having messy homes.

In Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar 's house, the children had rules and chores but on their own they've had a hard time keeping up on household chores.

The Duggar family has been letting fans into their homes for years

Whether on TV or off, the Duggar family has a habit of allowing fans into their world.

Occasionally, that means showing off some less-than-favorable sights.

Counting On and 19 Kids and Counting stars Jessa , Jill , Jana , and Joy-Anna have been slammed for showing off their messes online.

The backlash has ranged from drama over toys in the living room to much worse offenses like unflushed toilets and dirty carpets.

For the most part, they've ignored the drama.

On occasion, however, they've hit back.

They continue to showcase their lives online, including the messes.

These are the MESSIEST Duggar homes.

JESSA DUGGAR

Jessa has come under fire on more than one occasion for having a messy house.

It appears, based on her reaction, that she's unbothered by both the mess and how much it irks fans.

In early 2020, she shared a house tour video on YouTube.

Fans were quick to notice that she didn't bother cleaning up prior to filming.

The video - which earned her praise from some fans for keeping it "real" featured unmade beds, unflushed toilets, and toys strewn about.

Jessa didn't ignore the mess either.

In fact, she pointed it out, saying: "This is our messy house.

Jessa was praised for showing off her messy home as-is, including a clogged toilet

"We'll do another house tour when it's cleaned up. First we're gonna do a real life messy house."

The tour kicked off in the kitchen, where there were cardboard boxes on the floor and clothes hanging on kitchen chairs to dry.

Toy cars and books were all over the living room, bed were without sheets, and one of the toilets was stuffed full of paper one of the TLC star's children had put there.

Months later she shared a video about "getting organized."

It's not the first time Jessa has kept it real about mess around the house.

In 2017, she shared a series of snaps of her extremely messy home, including a pile of laundry, a mountain of dirty diapers, stains on her bed sheets, and marker and finger prints on mirrors.

She captioned the post : "This is real life, 'yall.

"Swipe left to see more pics of my house today in all its shining glory."

Jessa revealed that fans were looking at "6+ loads of laundry," a "side table that probably hasn't been dusted" in months, "dried spit up" on the bed, "Handprints on the mirror," and other such messes.

She ended her note with a little bit of positivity for anyone else who may be living this way, writing: "There's a never ending to-do list. Some of these tasks have been accomplished today, others haven't."

The Counting On star continued: "Some of y'all may be thinking, "C'mon now, it only takes a few min to dust or wipe down a mirror..." I know, it is so.  My reminder today has been that the same is true of the needs of the little people in our lives. I might think "I don't have time right now." But it only takes a few min... here and there. A few mins here, spent cuddling a fussy baby. A few mins there, singing lullabies as a toddler drifts off to sleep. 5 mins here, to read a book. 10 min there, engaging in imaginative play. Not trying to pit a clean house against interaction with kids-- sometimes both are possible, tho often they do seem in opposition to one another"

Fans weren't very forgiving, despite the heartfelt caption.

"Get up clean your place ma'am better then spending time sorry," one commenter wrote.

Another chimed in with: "Making money from social media get a housekeeper. Sorry but you are nasty."

"That's not life that's just being lazy," another commenter wrote.

She has also showed off piles of clothes around the house

JILL DUGGAR

Jill has come under fire for a lot of things, not the least of which is how she keeps her home.

She has been open and honest with fans about some of the struggles with keeping up with household chores, especially with two young kids.

In September 2021, she opened up with fans about staying on top of laundry.

She shared a photo of her full laundry basket, revealing that her family was "living out of" it in the caption.

Jill wrote : "We are currently in a 'living out of the laundry basket' season...which actually kinda happens a lot around here.

"What's your struggle? Dishes? Laundry? Etc. How do you simplify? Share."

Jill Duggar has documented similar struggles with laundry piles

A year earlier, she showed off a similar such photo, this time featuring her husband Derick and their sons, Israel and Samuel.

The trio posed in the living room of their home together, standing before the Christmas tree.

Fans were distracted by the laundry pile sitting next to them, which Jill seemed addressed in her caption.

She wrote : "Even if the start to your Christmas looks like ours (see my stories for our crazy first 24 hrs of break)...or even harder...we hope you'll find peace in the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, the reason for the Christmas season!"

One fan commented: "I feel that laundry pile in my soul."

On several occasions she's showed off laundry in a large pile in her home

Fans haven't always been as on board with Jill's messes, however.

In 2018, she was criticized for leaving then-six-month-old Samuel on a dirty carpet.

She posted a photo on Instagram of her second son crawling on a shag rug.

Followers were quick to slam her decision to put him directly on the carpet, suggesting a blanket to avoid dirt.

"Don't you ever vacuum that carpet. It's filthy," one comment read.

Fans criticized the mom of two for putting her son on a dirty carpet

JOY-ANNA DUGGAR

While sisters Jessa and Jill appear to have similar struggles, most of Joy-Anna Duggar's household issues seem to be in the pantry.

The Duggar daughter has, on more than one occasion, shared photos of major messes where the family stores their food.

In January 2021, she snapped a photo of oats and coffee grounds spilled all over the floor, apologizing to mom Michelle Duggar for the mess in her pantry.

She captioned the post : "Also Saturday.

"From the evidence left behind and only one toddler in the house. We came to the conclusion that Gideon was the culprit.

"It helped that he was covered with sugar and coffee grounds (and left his bike)."

Joy-Anna Duggar's mess struggles have more to do with her kids

In July 2020, she posted a similar mess with the same suspect: Gideon.

Joy-Anna caught her son spilling baking powder across the floor.

He was also covered in it.

"How could I get mad at the face?!" she captioned the post .

She has showed off messes made by her son on more than one occasion

JANA DUGGAR

Jana gave fans some tips for getting organized in the closet back in 2019.

She allowed fans into her own closet, revealing tons of clutter.

She admitted in her post: "Sometimes I feel like I'm clutter blind.

"Things tend to pile up over time, especially when it comes to clothes!

Jana Duggar has documented her messes - and efforts to get organized - online

"Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the mess and the amount of things you own?

"I know I do ... I just have way too many things!

"Most of it hardly gets used. That's why I am purging my closet!

Tour the duggars' pantry.

29 comments:

Hi, I love the blog. Thank you so much for keeping us duggar fans updated. I have not seen John David in any recent episodes including a lot of their Asia trip. Did he move out? What is he up to? Thanks!

By conservative measures, the Cincinnati chili recipe published out here boasts of over 450% of sodium required daily. In one serving of the Cincinnati chili recipe the Duggars published. Lots of iron maybe, but virtually no nutrients. Beans, but heavily processed and flavored, salted beans. I make Cincinnati chili from scratch and it is not hard and is probably cheaper than the Duggar version. And most certainly healthier.

I worry that the Duggar children are being taught that most food comes from cans and boxes. I don't think anyone can dispute that. Oh, and pickles are a healthy snack (NOT).

Pickles can be healthy when they are home made, though...

Sad. Reminds me of what people would eat in a shelter. You showed us all the canned and frozen and packaged stuff. Where is the fresh?

amazing..lots of choices

Do you keep your fresh vegetables in your pantry? I would assume, like most of us, the fresh things are in the fridge or in a fruit basket...not in the storage pantry.

When they were setting up a pantry shelf for Jim Bob of "healthy" snacks, I cringed at the canned vegetables. However, I'm sure the fresh stuff is in the fridge, not the pantry! Hopefully with the garden they're planning they'll be getting lots of fresh veggies.

It's hard to keep fresh fruit around for a lg group of ppl for very long that's prob why ou didnt see it. I think the duggars do a great job of exposing their kids to many food choices. They never claim to be perfect :) let's stop putting them down on this website.

We can learn a lot from them. They have a lot of fresh fruit and veggies and have those in the fridge or on the counter area ready for eating. Yes they are trying to make healthier choices and have been stepping in that direction. They mill grains too for bread. We think that their children have been pretty healthy overall since they live in a happy home.

Yes most pickles have food dyes and harmful additives but again we don't know how much they make themselves. Pickles are a type of fermented item similar to sauerkraut that is packed with enzymes and other things that most Americans are missing from their diet. So yes it can be a pretty healthy snack. Many other cultures pickle all types of things, mostly vegetables, and do eat them as snacks and a healthy side dish. Because it helps the digestive tract they are typically healthier than most Americans again.

Jessa, thank you guys for being willing to show us inside your home! You are all very generous with your time on screen and off. :-)

I bet the vegetables Justin was growing before were so yummy that they made it into their food right away with hardly any time to preserve them. Great job guys on expanding your growing efforts! It is worth it and gives delicious produce!

The children have a garden. They love cucumbers, even if they aren't pickles. Michelle has said multiple times that most of their snacks are fruits and vegetables. Most children's lunches at school contain one or none fruit or vegetable. You can go into almost every house in America and find frozen and canned food, just like the Duggar's house. They just have more of it because they have more people. Please stop picking on them! they are a huge inspiration for me and many of the people around me.

i have seen this several times. why dont they have farm anamimal and grow crops they could save tons on meat and milk and grow veggies. never seen them ever have a garden

@Anonymous-the Duggars have chosen to continue to be in the media-in the public eye. That puts them in a position to be commented upon by those who read, listen and/or watch them. Much of the more negative comments have actually helped them-including getting Jim Bob and Josh to their doctor for a work up. Conclusion was better eating/exercise regimen! Those who have posted here and on boards have been commenting on those two's poor eating habits and lack of movement! I think anyone who "puts them down" is really reacting to something that is either unhealthy, unreasonable or un believable!!!

I agree the negative comments need to stop the duggars r nothing but positive generous ppl and they must b Somethg right Michele lost 40 lbs and Jim Bob lost weight as well

I think they do a very good speaking as a dad of 8

They are always so organized. Again, kudos to the Duggar family! I always learn a little tip or two when I watch them :)

Anonymous @ 1:45am, This was a tour of the pantry. Do you keep fresh food in your pantry? We eat tons of produce in our home, but if someone were touring our pantry, they would never see any of it.

The canned vegetables should be fine. FEMA & the Red Cross state you should have at least two weeks of food on hand in case of and emergency. Popular Mechanics magazine took it a step further in their April issue. Here is the link: http://www.popularmechanics.com/outdoors/survival/tips/how-to-stock-your-disaster-pantry#slide-1 Remember the Duggars were able to survive when the ice storm came since they used the bus to generate electricity and had wood to burn for heat. Do you have that? I know I do not have a generator in case a bad storm comes, but I do have enough water and canned items in case we need it in an emergency. This article opened up my eyes to be prepared. Flooding where I am now and that is just the start of the weather season this spring.

@ Anonymous This was a tour of the pantry. Most fresh foods are kept in a refrigerator, not pantry.

@ Anonymous Hi Anonymous, John keeps busy running his towing business. ~Lily and Ellie

Not even one of their children are fat so I think they must be feeding them just fine.

@pga127 - if you wouldn't say such critical things to their faces, you shouldn't feel comfortable to post them here on this blog. The Duggars are doing a much better job at eating healthier, but even if they weren't - it's their own choice. People need to look for the good in people. And the Duggars have shown a lot of it.

I grew up next door to a family with 9 kids, and one of the older girls was my good friend. Guests were always welcome, but the older kids had a lot of chores and child care duties, and the mom allowed me to help so my friend could be able to play sooner. I loved it! She liked it because she had a friend helping and I thought it was fun to do chores in someone else's house - not so much my own, ha! I also learned to cook there! The Duggars remind me of that experience, on a much grander scale, of course.

The Duggars ARE controversial whether you like it or not. They claim to choose their style of dress by the Bible, yet their form of eating is atrocious and is not at all based on the Bible.

@Ann But given the numbers of kids they have AT LEAST ONE would be fat if the food were truly that bad.

@ Anonymous my aunt had 9 kids too. They ate a lot of pasta which was cheap and quite a few of them had weight issues.

Take A Peek Inside The Home Of The Duggar Family

duggar family house tour

They are probably one of the most well-known televised families to have graced our TV screens. Widely known for their huge family, the Duggars first appeared on the TV scene in 2004. They were featured in a Discovery Health special called  14 Children and Pregnant Again! The special introduced us to Jim-Bob and Michelle Duggar, and their children, all 14 of them. They are anxiously awaiting to learn the gender of Michelle’s newest bundle of joy. We would all eventually find out that it is a baby boy, whom they would name Jackson Levi, their then fifteenth child. Jim-Bob and Michelle would go on to have 4 more children, with a grand total of nineteen.

The Duggar family made a few more television specials that include  16 Children and Moving In!, Raising 16 Children!, On The Road With 16 Children!   and  Duggar’s Big Family Album . The Learning Channel would begin a series on the family,  17 Kids and Counting, then subsequently  18 Kids and Counting . After their 19th child, Josie was born, the series was renamed  19 Kids and Counting.  However, after the Josh Duggar molestation scandal, TLC cancelled  19 Kids and Counting . A new series  Counting On, which features the next generation of the Duggar family getting married and raising their own progeny, premiered in December 2015.

In The Beginning

Duggars, house, tiny

On the TV special  16 Children and Moving In,  we are given a glimpse of the Duggar family’s old home, which they were renting. There are just a few words to describe it: cramped and tiny. At this point there were 10 boys and 6 girls, ranging in age from newborn to age seventeen. When you add Michelle and Jim-Bob, which makes eighteen people, you can imagine that a three-bedroom home and only 2 bathrooms between them all, would cause a lot of chaos. There must have been a  lot of bunk beds in those bedrooms, with little room for much else!

Starting From Scratch

building, house

When they figured it was time to move out, Jim-Bob began doing some research on building a “dream home” of their own. Jim-Bob’s experience in the real estate industry lead him to find twenty acres of land, which the family purchased. Construction on their 7,000 square-foot home in Tontitown, Arkansas began in 2000. Jim-Bob began researching homes and ultimately chose to build their home out of steel. They made plans, and included all of their children in the building process. Michelle believed that it would be a great learning experience for all of the children. Each child age eight and over even had their very own drill!

Six Years Later

Duggars, new home

It was six years later that their dream home was complete, despite the family hoping the project would have been finished within a year. While a lot of the construction for the home was done by Jim-Bob and the children, as well as friends of the family, Discovery Networks also found plenty of local construction workers to donate their time and skills. It was on January 20, 2006, that the house was finally completed.  Some of the furnishings, paint, and appliances were given to the Duggars by Discovery Networks and other corporate sponsors. They even fully stocked the famously large family’s pantry!

Thrifty Shoppers

kitchen, Duggars

Instead of shopping at a high-end home design store, Jim-Bob and Michelle opted for auctions when it came to their kitchen appliances. In the  16 Kids and Moving In  special, Jim-Bob explains how all of the appliances for their 2 kitchens were acquired through auctions. The Duggar girls affectionately call the commercial style kitchen “The Duggar Diner.” In their commercial style kitchen there are 2 industrial ovens, an industrial can opener, industrial sinks, and Michelle’s favorite, an industrial dishwasher. She said that she was very excited for that especially, because it could wash a rack of dishes in just three minutes! The whole commercial style kitchen was outfitted with all of the appliances for $11,000, where in reality if they did not shop at auctions, it would’ve cost them $100,000. As Michelle says,  “Buy used, save the difference!”

The Great Room

Great room, Duggars

Jim-Bob and Michelle had both expressed that they have been frugal with their home decorating in the past. However, when it came to their brand new home, interior designer Deborah DiMare, of DiMare Design was tasked with creating their indoor paradise. She even got the kids involved in the process, sitting down with the group and asking each one of them what they would like to see in the home. Of course, she talked with mom and pop Duggar, too! They decided on a beautiful oatmeal color for their walls. As you can see, DiMare did an incredible job of decorating the home! From the furniture, artwork, end tables and even houseplants, right down to the light fixtures, everything looks absolutely amazing. You can also see the family’s second kitchen to the left in the photo above.

Dining Room

Dining room, Duggar family

As one would with an ever-expanding family, the Duggar’s have a huge dining room table. It is eighteen feet long and seats twenty people. Oh, and yes, that is  indeed a drink fountain over there, so the little tykes have their pick of what they want to drink. Since quite a few of the Duggar kids are getting married and having babies of their own, that table probably houses more high-chairs then regular chairs by now. Can you imagine what a holiday like Thanksgiving would be like, especially with their extended family? It must get a bit crazy around there during the holidays!

Laundry Room

laundry, Duggars

Washing, drying and folding clothes is probably one of our least favorite chores out there. But, it has to be done if we want clean clothes! Can you imagine just how much laundry that the Duggar family does a week? With a family that size, it must be a lot, and it totally is! The family does approximately forty loads of laundry per week. But fear not, they are not overworking one washer and dryer to do all that work. They have what Michelle lovingly calls her “laundromat,” which houses 4 washers and 4 dryers. So, if we do the math, forty loads times fifty-two weeks in a year equals 2,080 loads each year. Can you imagine? Dirty laundry is thrown down a laundry shute, where another Duggar child is there to catch it and sort it. Then it gets washed!

Family Closet

closet, laundry

As you can probably imagine, with 19 kids in total, there is going to be a lot of clothing. Can you imagine sorting all of these clothes? From pants and skirts, to shoes and polos, they are all kept in here. After doing laundry, everything has to be sorted, as you can see. According to Michelle, when someone is in need of an outfit to wear, they make their way down to the room-sized family closet. Even though we don’t have 19 kids, we sure do wish that our kids could keep their closets this organized! It even looks like they sort clothes by color, too!

Boy’s Bedroom

boys room, bedroom

When it came to bedrooms while they were building their “dream home,” you would have thought that the kids would ask for more bedrooms! But, they actually didn’t! In the 7,000 square foot home, there are only  three bedrooms! Jim-Bob and Michelle’s being the master bedroom, and one for the boys, and one for the girls. Surprisingly enough, the kids  wanted it that way! They wanted to stay close to their siblings! As you can see, the boys room has a slew of bunk-beds for all the boys! Not only that, but it also has a trap-door that leads straight to the playroom! Now that some of the boys have married and moved out, we’re sure that there is even more room for the remaining Duggar boys!

Girl’s Bedroom

bedroom, Duggars

Initially, the girls had a room that was filled with horses and rainbows, as can be seen in the photo above. However, as the girls grew older, they felt that a redesign was in order. They wanted to make it more modern, and we have to say, it sure does look great! We’re loving all the photos on the wall! Reportedly Jana has an eye for design, and she is the one that did this beautiful re-design on the bedroom! She is still living at home with four younger sisters. But we really think that she has an eye for design! The next Joanna Gaines, perhaps?

Master Bedroom

bedroom, Duggars

Jim-Bob and Michelle’s master suite is right in the middle of the house. It separates the boy’s room from the girl’s rooms. We do not know too much about the master bedroom, as Jim-Bob and Michelle are pretty private about that stuff. But we do know that it has two bathrooms, which most definitely comes in handy, especially in the hectic morning hours! They have decorated their bedroom very simply, which actually looks quite nice! The decor is really quite lovely, and that bed looks beautiful! It does look like they have a little reading nook with a comfy chair to sit in!

The Playroom

playroom, Duggars

With 19 kids, you  definitely have to keep them occupied! Enter the Duggar family’s 18 by 36 foot playroom! As we can see, there is an old-school arcade cabinet for some nostalgic video game fun! There are computers, a Foosball table, and a pool table, too! Oh, we also forgot to mention the enormous twisty slide, a climbing wall and lockers! There is also a tunnel leading from the playroom downstairs, to the boy’s room upstairs. According to Jason, in an episode of  19 Kids and Counting , the children also have a space (not seen) where they are schooled from 11AM-2PM. Each child also has their own cubby for their schoolwork, as well as filing cabinets where their schoolwork is kept.

music, Duggars

Every child in the Duggar family has learned to play an instrument. Their “music nook” is complete with a black grand piano. Many of the children play violins. However, Josiah took up the cello, and John-David plays the viola. Jana, Jill and Jinger have all learned how to play the harp. Michelle also makes sure that the children get piano lessons. It is wonderful that they have a large space to practice their music in! The children are often invited to play at different events like weddings, rallies and more because of their musical talents. They even make time to visit the local nursing home to play for the residents there!

Prayer Closet

Prayer, Duggars

When it comes to studying, we all need a quiet place to do so. So, when it came to studying the Bible, the Duggar’s came up with the great idea of a “prayer closet.” It is just a simple little room, with a desk and a lamp. Just a quiet little nook where any family member can go in and pray or study their Bible verses. This is such a lovely idea in the way that anyone can really do this! If you have a spare closet in your home (you can clean one out! Marie Kondo, anyone?), this can be easily done. It is so simple and such a beautiful idea!

pantry, food, Duggars

When you are feeding a family of 19 children, you sure are going to need a  lot of space to store your food. That is exactly what Jim-Bob and Michelle have! They have a huge pantry, stocked to the brim with all kinds of foods. The children are free to come and go into the pantry as they please for a snack or two. This includes the Duggar family’s favorite snack, pickles. They house giant jars of them on the bottom shelf, so they are accessible to everyone. There are also three full-sized deep freezers in the pantry, with all kinds of frozen foods! It truly is like a mini-grocery store!

Josh’s A/V Studio

audio, video, studio

The eldest Duggar child is a budding videographer. So, when the Duggar family built their home in Tontitown, they added a studio where Josh could edit his videos. In the photo above, Josh, Josiah and John-David hang out together as Josh is editing a video. While small and quaint, it looks like it has just the right amount of room for video work! It certainly does look like he has some high-tech equipment in that studio! Now that he has since married with children, and has moved out, though, we wonder if any other Duggars have taken up the hobby!

What was your favorite part of the Duggar family’s home? Let us know in the comments! If you want to learn more about the Duggars, check out the latest season of their series  Counting On on TLC!

Line Up, Ladies! Jed And Jer Duggar Organized The Pantry And Now Fans Are Thirsty

Octomom Nadya Suleman Children

Looking good, boys! Duggar family fans have always known that  Jeremiah is the hot brother and that  Jedidiah gets plenty of love , too, but the thirst reached a new level over their lastest pic. On Monday, Jan. 7,  Michelle Duggar posted a new photo of her twin sons helping her clean out the pantry — and her followers pretty much lost their minds. Only for once, it wasn’t about the boys. This time, the thirst was for the pantry itself.

If you’ve been following the family since their  19 Kids and Counting days, you might already know that  Jim Bob Duggar used to work at a grocery store. When his family started growing, he put those stock-shelving skills to use, and he taught his family how to help. So when you take a peek into the Duggar family’s pantry , it looks almost exactly like the inside of a market. And fans simply couldn’t contain their lust.

Deal of the Day

“I’m not going to lie… This pantry is a thing of beauty. I’m jealous every time I see it,” wrote one commenter. “Can I go shopping in your pantry?” joked another. “It’s like your own personal store!” added a third, awe-struck by all the cans neatly lining the shelves. The size was also what got everyone. “That pantry is bigger than my kitchen and living room combined,” read a comment. And another still had an expert tip for the 20-year-olds: “Hope they’re not forgetting to rotate the older date food. I worked like that sorting selves way back in my local supermarket.”

But of course, there was still plenty of love to go around for Jed and Jer, too. “ Way to go boys! You’re welcome here anytime to share your expertise in Ohio!” a fan teased while someone else shared, “The boys have grown into such handsome young men!” They definitely have — but to be honest, we’re having trouble checking them out. Who’s looking at the boys when you’ve got a picture of a pantry like this?

Really, I love her shirt and want one. And I'm not even ashamed for starting the topic just so I could say that.

Silly hipster :penguin-no: , striped shirts are now too main stream to be cool. I almost purchased one at the thrift store to be ironic.

P.S I am a child of the 80's and 90's so I like to be ironic. I am not a hipster but its fun to make fun of them and their horrible taste in beer.

Are Free-Jingerites the ones commenting about the lack of fresh produce? There are 2 huge fridges in that room, as well as the ones in the work kitchen. It's seeming more possible the Duggars could be eating vegetables. Please, J-Slave, open the fridges, as well!

Do they make the slave that cooks live in the pantry in the way that they make Mary sleep behind the laundry room.

alba

No, because that would keep the J'slave away from her younger buddies.

Uhh, maybe someone should be watching the Tiny Precious Miracle while she runs up and down freezers on top of a cement floor? Just a thought :?

divadivine

Who runs the blog where these videos are being posted? I am fairly certain it's not the Duggars.

Seal

They are a pair of sisters who seem to be mega fans of the Duggars. I'm not sure how much contact the Duggars have with them or if they approve everything on the blog but they seem to keep up with the family.

salex

She said they buy in bulk because it is cheaper, then we see cases of Aldi brand spray "pam" stuff. Does aldi really give them a bulk discount, or is she referring to buying things like plastic forks at Sams, as other shots indicate.

I noticed that the shelves had been fluffed to make it look like more food, but stacking double cans on the front rows, while leaving the cases as either full or part full but only one level deep behind the front rows on things like the green beans.

I didn't watch the laundry or music room shots, because i don't care about their music and the laundry was featured years ago on one of their shows years ago? I acknowledge I watched one of their specials years ago and since then, nothing because I see nothing of interest. Their whole riff is "Look at the big giant family do xyz" and that is one note and really, who cares? I am always amazed they are still on tv. We did accidently catch a few minutes of it a year or so ago when we woke it was on when we turned on the tv. My husband, who did not recognize any of these people, said, after he heard Michelle speak 3 sentences "I hate women who talk in a baby voice." and we moved on to CSPAN.

Hmmmmmm true. I guess they have to make them all have a bedroom to share instead of make them sleep in the pantry, or closet, or kitchen, or bathroom (wherever their main chores are)...theyve got to be parents to their little siblings (and you wouldnt want them having any privacy and discovering that they can masturbate)

Uhh, maybe someone should be watching the Tiny Precious Miracle while she runs up and down freezers on top of a cement floor? Just a thought

Just like they should watch their toddlers when they climb the stairs or play on them?

I cringe every time I see their barely supervised children in dangerous situation and am genuinely suprised that the worst that has ever happened to those kids is a toddler getting her head stuck in the railings.

The little boys reaching their entire hands into the jar of pickles in both videos disgusted me. Use a fork to fish the pickles out and stop contaminating your food!

Okay, watched enough to see a segment on having a chaperone while "dating" except they don't allow dating. However, what was TRULY creepy is that JimBob was being interviewed and talking about chaperoning dates right in front of Janna's BED. Really, why is it appropriate for him to be in his daughters' bedroom talking about that subject?????? CREEPY.

In a Godly Shoving Match

Well don't you know, Tiny Precious Addition (TM Michelle's nauseating voice) is now youngest daughter.

JenniferJuniper

JenniferJuniper

"And finally , our youngest daughter, Josie"

"Latest addition" implies more could be coming. The change in Josie's status to "the youngest" might indicate Michelle knows she's the last. At what point does the "And Counting" no longer apply?

I too found it hard to watch Josie running around on top those freezers. A slip could result in a very bad injury to a child who may already have some cognitive delays. I know Jesus gives them extra attention because they are so special to Him, but seeing as Jason could easily have been killed in that 12 foot fall playing somewhere he should not have been playing, they probably shouldn't be pushing their luck.

That's whythey have, like, 20 of them. They wouldn't haveto miss a beat if one or two met untimely ends.

So, 21 people on a trip. By my calculations, each hair wash would use one normal sized shampoo bottle. So why travel sized toiletries?

Freyacat

Wait, why do they have to buy canned veggies in bulk? Surely with so many people to help they could have a decent garden. And that's a household task many kids actually enjoy helping with, plus it's good exercise.

That's what normal, sane people would do. However, the Duggars are not normal or sane. They have pretended on TV to have a garden and to make their own laundry soap. They are fake. I'm sure their excuse for not really having a garden is they travel too much and they wouldn't have time to tend the garden when they're on the road.

They could have a great garden and use it not only for food, but also as part of their learning experience.... but I doubt there are any Wisdom Booklets on gardening. I can just imagine J'Chelle pronouncing "fertilizer" in her baby talk voice. Although, it does start off with "fertile".....

yewchapel

I don't understand the canned vegetables. Frozen veggies are much better and often much fresher than the 'fresh' veg that's been hanging around supermarkets for weeks. But I agree that particularly with a large family of homeschoolers, a kitchen garden would be a great idea and a great long-term school project. There's tons to learn about - nutrition, science, geography (different kinds of environments produce different food), maths (measuring out plant food, fertiliser, water), history (historical uses for common plants, the spice trade and how it developed places like Venice), English (writing recipes, menus, describing food). I feel so sorry for the kids and their SOTDRT education and crappy diet, what wasted potential. Michelle doesn't care about her kids, she's just a baby collector.

shedemei

Canned vegetables have a long shelf life and do not require having a working freezer, unlike frozen vegetables. Without consideration of the normal Duggar vegetable-eating habits, having canned vegetables on hand is itself a good idea in case of power loss. I don't prefer canned vegetables, but the hate for them on FJ surprises me. I probably have a different view of them because I was raised by my grandmother, who lived through both the Depression and WWII. Canned vegetables were a staple in my house growing up, and I certainly didn't grow up stupid or poor.

But, but, then they wouldn't have room in their massive chest freezers for ice cream and individual burritos.

Commercially canned vegetables are insanely high in salt and have all of the nutritents leached out of them. They are not terribly health and are certainly nothing even close to the concept of eating them for health reasons. I can see the merit of stockpiling some frozen vegetables for emergency situations, and we do so. However, for normal eating canned vegetables are not that far off of pure junk food.

Frozen veggies are much healthier, only a little more expensive when purchased in bulk, and easily stored in the freezers to all of those fridges they own.

Miggy

I thought it was a mother and daughter; Lily & Ellie. (Not sure which is which.) The daughter is homeschooled.

The website says mother-daughter. I do wonder where they get the interviews. Their picture seems to show the daughter older than homeschool age. Since they are fundie fans, is the daughter's future, like the fundies' daughters, being purposefully limited?

duggarsblog.blogspot.com/p/contact-us.html

I had no idea about the actual age of the daughter and, being incredibly lazy, didn't actually bother to read the site to find details. I check the site occasionally as the comments are always snarkworthy (pure leghumper) and they seem to get pictures earlier than other bloggers. I am sure I read at some stage that they started the site as a home school project. I guess that was a long time ago. Thanks for the correction Rita.
