Bret Michaels Announces ‘Parti-Gras’ 2023 Tour With Night Ranger + Jefferson Starship

Bret Michaels knows how to bring the party and next summer the Poison frontman will take music fans back in time by hitting the road with rock legends Night Ranger and Jefferson Starship .

Dubbed the "Parti-Gras" tour, the trek will also feature guest turns by former Journey vocalist Steve Augeri, Sugar Ray frontman Mark McGrath and a still-to-be revealed "nightly surprise" that is guaranteed to rock your world.

Michaels returned to Poison in 2022 as part of the massive Stadium Tour featuring Motley Crue, Def Leppard and Joan Jett, but this time out he's rocking solo within what promises to be a festival-like atmosphere.

Michaels states, “I created Parti-Gras as a sincere and grateful thank you to the fans, friends, and family who have rocked with me over the years. I promise to deliver positive energy, live, raw, real music, and all the bands will deliver sing-a-long hit after hit songs. Your voice will be hoarse after an epic, big, fun stage show.“

“After seeing Bret bring the party in every market of The Stadium Tour, this past year, we are looking forward to more of his ‘nothing, but a good vibe, high-energy performing’ on The Parti-Gras Tour next summer,” added Rick Franks from Global Touring Live Nation who are backing the run.

The 12-date trek gets underway July 13 in Clarkston, Michigan, sticking primarily to the Eastern and Midwestern U.S. before wrapping on Aug. 6 in Charlotte, N.C. All the cities, dates and venues for the run are listed below.

Pre-sale ticketing will start tomorrow (Dec. 6) at 10AM local time via Live Nation , with the tickets going on sale to the general public this Friday (Dec. 9) at 10AM local time. There are also VIP Meet & Greet tickets available via Michaels' website .

Hot off the heels of a massive stadium tour with his band Poison, for the first time ever, Bret Michaels is hitting the road for a limited run of live dates for his 2023 Parti Gras Tour. Michaels has created this tour with a mardi gras feel in celebration of his great fans and hit music. The renowned rockstar will bring a few of his rocker friends along for a mashup of all killer, no-filler hits featuring special guests Night Ranger and Jefferson Starship with special appearances from Steve Augeri (former lead singer of Journey) and Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), plus a nightly surprise guest to rock your world.

Presented by Live Nation, the 12-city limited date run kicks off on Thursday, July 13th at the one and only Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, MI, known for its epic concerts and parties going on to make stops across the U.S. including at The Pavilion at Star Lake, in his birthplace of Pittsburgh (PA), Holmdel (NJ), Tinley Park (IL), Tampa (FL), and more before wrapping up in Charlotte (NC) at PNC Music Pavilion on August 6th. The tour promises to be a modern-day throwback to epic tailgate parties, positive energy, and a much needed nothing but a good vibe.

Poison singer Bret Michaels has announced the Summer 2023 US “Parti Gras” tour featuring a stacked support cast of Night Ranger, Jefferson Starship, Steve Augeri (ex-Journey), and Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray).

Dates kick off July 13rd in Clarkston, Michigan, and run through August 6th in Charlotte, North Carolina.

A Citi Cardmember ticket pre-sales goes live today (December 5th) at 10 a.m. local time, and a Live Nation pre-sale begins Tuesday (December 6th) at 10 a.m. local time (code: CHEER ). General public sales start Friday (December 9th) at 10 a.m. local time. You can pick up tickets via Ticketmaster .

In addition to the aforementioned support package, a surprise guest will make an appearance each night to “rock your world,” according to the press release. The tour poster emphasizes that each performer will play “all the killer hits, no filler.”

“I created Parti-Gras as a sincere and grateful thank you to the fans, friends, and family who have rocked with me over the years,” Michaels said in a statement. “I promise to deliver positive energy, live, raw, real music, and all the bands will deliver sing-a-long hit after hit songs. Poison’s Bret Michaels has officially announced the dates for his upcoming “Parti-Gras” tour. The trek will find the frontman performing with numerous special guests each night including Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Steve Augeri (ex-Journey), and more. Night Ranger and Jefferson Starship will serve as support.

Bret Michaels Kicks Off Parti-Gras Tour in Detroit

"Does Bret Michaels know how to throw a party or what?" Mark McGrath asked the audience on the opening night of the Poison  singer's Parti-Gras 2023 tour at the Pine Knob Music Theatre outside of Detroit.

It would be hard to find a question more rhetorical than that.

A Michaels tour with any party reference in its title is as redundant as silicone on spandex. He's been the life of the said party since the cat dragged Poison into the rock scene back in 1986, and all these decades later he remains genuinely dedicated to showing audiences nothin' but a good time.

And that's what he did on Parti-Gras' first night, launching the 12-date tour with a hit-fueled night of music whose energy never flagged over nearly four hours, with a crowd of about 10,000 — most sporting the Mardi Gras beads Michaels' crew distributed before the show — following suit.

"I like to have a great time," Michaels told UCR earlier this year. "I like to party. But what I love most is treating people really great  at  the party. I told everybody individually before any of the agents or managers got involved, I said, 'All killer, no filler.' It's all hits. It's gonna be an ultimate good time."

Those hits came early, too, as Jefferson Starship lifted off with "Find Your Way Back," but spent most of its half hour in the guise of the latter-day Starship, playing '80s hits such as "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now," "Sara" and "We Built This City," in addition to "Jane" and Jefferson Airplane 's "Somebody to Love" — but, interestingly, nothing from the band's '70s heyday. Night Ranger , meanwhile, threw some of singer  Jack Blade 's Damn Yankees into the mix — "Coming of Age" and "High Enough" — amid hits such as "(You Can Still) Rock in America," "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" and "Sister Christian." The troupe also celebrated its 40th anniversary with the song "Night Ranger" from its 1982 debut Dawn Patrol , a near-metallic workout that featured a manic drum solo by Kelly Keagy and some crew friends.

The party raged once Michaels and his six-member band hit the stage for a 100-minute set. "You have no idea how fired up I am. My heart's going!" he declared after opening with a pair of Poison hits, "Talk Dirty to Me" and "Ride the Wind." (The video for the latter song was filmed down the road at Detroit's now-demolished Joe Louis Arena). Michaels also treated it as a kind of homecoming: Poison has played the venue 17 times over the years and ostensibly set a record for the most beer sales during one two-night stand. "I feel like I'm home right now. I feel like I'm in my backyard," he said. Referring to last year's Motor City stop on the Stadium Tour as "one of the best days of my life," he told the Pine Knob fans, "You're taking it up a notch" — and did much the same with his performance.

It wasn't just Michaels, however. Parti-Gras' first night was a case study in playing nice with others (he even left welcome messages on paper plates stuck to everyone's dressing room doors) and incorporating guests into his set. Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath, who sported a Hawaiian-style print shirt and joked about being "the guy who still looks like he frosts his tips," delivered renditions of the band's "Every Morning" (with Michaels on congas) and "Fly." McGrath later joined Michaels for a beefy rendition of Sublime 's "What I Got."

Former Journey singer Steve Augeri was also in the mix, sporting a red jacket and white slacks as he demonstrated his uncanny Steve Perry stylings on "Separate Ways," "Any Way You Want It," a torchy "Faithfully" (Michaels' guitarist Dean Cramer recreated the epic solo) and "Don’t Stop Believin'," whose " city boy born and raised in south Detroit " was a particular crowd pleaser.

For his part, Michaels, decked out in a Parti-Gras tour tank top and five different hats throughout the night, stuck to the Poison playbook, with lead guitarist Pete Evick doing C.C. DeVille's parts proud.

Michaels used "Something to Believe In" to salute military veterans, bringing about a dozen onstage in the middle of the song to be applauded by the crowd. He opened "Unskinny Bop" with a rap and a snippet of  Red Hot Chili Peppers ' "Give It Away," while a sea of cell phone lights illuminated the venue during "Every Rose Has Its Thorn.”

Crew members threw giant beach balls into the pavilion while Michaels sang "Nothin' but a Good Time" with the winner of a "Dress Like Bret" karaoke contest, and the entire cast joined him for an exuberant show-closing romp through Lynyrd Skynyrd 's " Sweet Home Alabama ," trading vocals and guitar solos.

It was another big hit in a night full of them, a fitting close for a party that Michaels told the crowd would repeat in 2024.

Poison ‘s Bret Michaels is planning a touring music festival for next summer that promises nothin’ but a good time.

Scheduled for a limited run of 12 cities, Michaels’ 2023 Parti-Gras Tour is described as “a celebration of fans, bands, music and an all killer no filler night of hit songs.” Joining him on the road will be Jefferson Starship and Night Ranger , along with special appearances by ex- Journey singer Steve Augeri and Sugar Ray ‘s Mark McGrath . On top of that, he’s promising “a nightly surprise guest to rock your world.”

The tour kicks off July 13 in Clarkston, Michigan, and is set to wrap up August 6 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Presale tickets will be available starting December 6 at 10 a.m. local time via LiveNation.com. The public on-sale date is December 9 at 10 a.m. local time.

In a statement, Michaels says of the tour, “ I created Parti-Gras as a sincere and grateful thank you to the fans, friends, and family who have rocked with me over the years.”

He adds, “I promise to deliver positive energy, live, raw, real music, and all the bands will deliver sing-a-long hit after hit songs. Your voice will be hoarse after an epic, big, fun stage show.”

Entertainment | bret michaels promises a good time when new tour launches this week at pine knob.

Bret Michaels knows how to have nothin’ but a good time, with his band Poison and on his own.

And he especially knows how to do that at the Pine Knob Music Theatre.

Michaels (nee Sychak), 60, has performed at the venue 17 times with Poison and once on his own — memorably arriving a couple days early during June of 2010 to sing “Margaritaville” with Jimmy Buffett. He also takes pride in noting that Poison once set a record for the most beer sold during one of its two-night stands at the venue (such claims are hard to substantiate, but in this case it seems entirely plausible).

“It was probably one of the best continuous parties,” Michaels, who kicks off his multi-act 2023 Parti Gras Tour on Thursday, July 13, at Pine Knob, recalls of the beer incident. “I ended up just sleeping in the dressing room — woke up the next day, took my dirt bike out in the big-ass parking lot up top, had the best time ever and went back and played another show.

“Let me say this,” Michaels adds, “Pine Knob is one of my true stomping grounds. I think everyone knows I love Detroit. I have ties like that in every city, but (Detroit) is a step beyond, and then Pine Knob is a step beyond that. The fans there party. They rock. It’s just such a good time, honest to God…”

Pine Knob, then, was the logical spot for Michaels to launch his Parti-Gras Tour concept.

Modeled after summer concert brands that friends such as Buffett and Sammy Hagar have established, Parti-Gras will feature Michaels with opening acts Night Ranger and Jefferson Starship, and joined during his own set by Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray and onetime Journey singer Steve Augeri. “No one’s quite done it like this,” Michaels says, “where I’m singing three or four Poison songs, hits, and all of a sudden Steve Augeri grabs the mic and he starts singing Journey hits and I stand up there and play guitar or piano, congas or whatever. Then Mark does some of his stuff and then at the end we’ll get everybody up there to sing ‘Nothin’ But a Good Time’ together.

“I told everybody individually, before any of the agents or managers got involved, I said, ‘All killer, no filler.’ It’s all hits. It’s gonna be an ultimate good time.”

It certainly sounded like that to the members of Night Ranger, which toured with Poison during the ’80s and ’90s and is happy to be part of the Michaels’ party once again.

“I have so many stories; we won’t get into that now, but let’s just say the ’80s was the decade of decadence and Poison had that down,” Night Ranger guitarist Brad Gillis says. “We all pretty much grew out of that, but we’re looking forward to this tour ’cause it’s we’re trying to make the shows a party…and the songs are so timeless.”

The party, or parti, will rage offstage as well, by Michaels’ design. A hospitality team will distribute beads and bandanas to play on the Mardi Gras theme, while a Tiki-style golf cart will drive around the parking lot with a Nerf basketball hoop giving fans a chance to win backstage passes and drink tickets. He’ll also be holding a “Dress Like Bret” karaoke contest and will bring winners on stage to sing “Nothin’ But a Good Time.”

And Michaels is promising special guests, usually local personalities, in each town.

“I like to have a great time. I like to party. But what I love most is treating people really great AT the party,” explains Michaels, who’s also a Type 1 diabetic and is active in fundraising for the American Diabetes Association, among other charities. “I want people to have a great time, and we’re gonna take everything we’ve done up a notch. We’re going to keep going for as long as we can, as fun as we can for the amount of time we’re given.

“After just the craziness of these last couple years I am so grateful to be able to go out to a sporting event, a concert, hang out with friends. It’s just a good day.”

Michaels has more than Parti Gras keeping him busy these days. The singer — who co-founded Poison 40 years ago in Mechanicsburg, Pa., with four multi-platinum albums and six Top 10 singles to the band’s credit — made a run as Bandana Banana on “The Masked Singer” during the spring of 2020 and took Poison on the road as part of The Stadium Tour last summer. In January he released a new solo song, the sentimental “Back in the Day,” the first of several new songs he plans to release during the coming months. “You, The Beach and Me,” “Parti Gras” and “Until Then” are on the runway, with no plans for a full album as of yet.

Michaels also intends to regroup Poison during 2025 for more touring and possibly some new songs.

“Y’know, back when we started I never knew what would happen, but I never thought it couldn’t happen — I just found a way to get it done and enjoyed that,” Michaels explains. “My pot of gold is the journey. I’ve met incredible people. I got to play incredible places, travel the world and play music. I’ve been through a lot of adversity and finding ways to get by that.

“And I’ve embraced the changes. I didn’t fight the digital world. I didn’t say no when they asked me to play country festivals. I’m sincere. I’m passionate. I’m a fan of music, and I appreciate the fans and I come out with the same energy I would bring when I was playing Harpo’s or Blondie’s — just on a bigger stage and with some better equipment now.”

Nothin' but a good time: Bret Michaels, Night Ranger and friends set to rock Hertz Arena

Bret Michaels is bringing the party to Southwest Florida ― just in time for Christmas.

The Poison frontman's Parti-Gras Holiday Tour visits Hertz Arena on Friday, Dec. 13, the Estero venue announced Monday. Tickets go on sale this week.

The tour stop is a continuation of 2023's Parti-Gras Tour and features guest stars Night Ranger and Dee Snider of Twisted Sister . Snider will perform a "mash-up" of Twisted Sister's hits with Michaels' band.

The tour is meant to have a fun, Mardis Gras feel celebrating both Michaels' fans and the music.

“I created Parti-Gras as a sincere and grateful thank you to the fans, friends, and family who have rocked with me over the years," Michaels said in a 2022 news release announcing the tour. "I promise to deliver positive energy, live, raw, real music, and all the bands will deliver sing-a-long hit after hit songs. Your voice will be hoarse after an epic, big, fun stage show.“

Bret Michaels: Poison frontman and reality TV star

Michaels is best known as the host of the VH1 show "Rock of Love with Bret Michaels" and as frontman for glam rockers Poison. The '80s rock band's hits include "Talk Dirty to Me," "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" and "Unskinny Bop."

He last played Southwest Florida in 2018 at The Ranch Concert Hall & Saloon in Fort Myers.

There’s a big difference between rock fame and TV fame, Michaels told The News-Press in 2016 .

“Rock is very much a cult following,” said Michaels, who's release both rock and country music as a solo artist. “At moments, it gets very popular. At moments, it goes underground.

“But rock and country fans are extremely loyal… They bring their families and kids, and it keeps going on as long as you stay true to who you are.”

Then there’s TV fame, which taps into a much bigger, more mainstream audience.

“All of the sudden, if you have a show that hits — if you’re doing ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ or ‘Rock of Love’ — it influences people in their living rooms,” Michaels said. “So they either learn to like you or dislike you for what they watch you do."

Joining him on the road will be Jefferson Starship and Night Ranger , along with special appearances by ex- Journey singer Steve Augeri and Sugar Ray 's Mark McGrath . On top of that, he's promising "a nightly surprise guest to rock your world."
