Liege glory for Pieterse

Stage 4 of the 2024 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift was won by Puck Pieterse (Fenix-Deceuninck) who produced a powerful performance over the hilly 122.7 km route from Valkenberg to the Quai des Ardennes in Liege. In an exciting finale Pieterse took a brilliant first win, just beating Yellow Jersey Demi Vollering (SD Worx-Protime) to the line in a photo finish, with Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon//Sram Racing) crossing the line in third place. In wet conditions in Belgium it was the final Côte de la Roche-aux-Faucons climb which proved decisive and the result leaves Vollering top of the GC by 22” from Pieterse, with Niewiadoma third overall at 34”.

tour de france tv2.no

Amstel Gold Race climbs There were 144 starters for Stage 4, with Elise Chabbey (Canyon//SRAM Racing), Clara Emond (EF-Oatly-Cannondale), Christina Schweinberger (Fenix-Deceuninck) not taking the start. Over the first four categorised climbs of the day which are firm fixtures in the Amstel Gold Race route - Bemelerberg (km 6.6, Cat. 4, 1.3km at 4.9%), Cauberg (km 12.8, Cat. 3, 0.7km at 8%), Geulhemmerberg (km 17.8, Cat. 4, 1.1km at 5.1%) & Bemelerberg (km 23.4, Cat. 4, 1.3km at 4.9%) – it was Silvia Persico (UAE Team ADQ) who dominated the proceedings, topping each summit in first place, to move into the virtual lead of the Mountain classification. Martin goes solo After that hilly start Sara Martin (Movistar) went solo at the front and soon built up a 1'15" lead over the peloton at km 41. Upon reaching Aubel, at km 43.3, the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift left the Netherlands to enter Belgium and the climbs so familiar from Liege-Bastogne-Liege awaited. Laura Tomasi (Laboral Kutxa - Fundación Euskadi) briefly went on the counter-attack, chasing Martin, but she was soon reeled back in. After solo attacker Martin was first through the intermediate sprint at Pepinster (km 67.5), Charlotte Kool (dsm-firmenich PostNL) was the first of the bunch in the sprint in her green jersey, ahead of Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime). Martin caught on Mont-Theux The race was briefly stopped at a level crossing before the Mont-Theux climb (Km 74.8, Cat. 3, 2.8km at 5.6%) with the commissaires neutralising the bunch to fairly maintain Martin’s lead. But once onto that climb Martin would not last much longer in the lead and she was caught by the main group 500m from the top. Yara Kastelijn (Fenix-Deceuninck) went over the top of the Mont-Theux climb first, followed by Justine Ghekiere (AG Insurance - Soudal Team) and Sarah Gigante (AG Insurance - Soudal Team). Behind the climbers and GC favourites the peloton was split into several groups with Wiebes in one group, polka dot jersey wearer Cristina Tonetti (Laboral Kutxa - Fundación Euskadi) in a third group and Kool in a fourth. Onto ‘la Redoute’ At the top of the Côte de la Redoute (km 88.8, Cat. 2, 1.6km at 9.4%) Pieterse from the Fenix-Deceuninck team led a peloton reduced to around 15 riders, with Niewiadoma, Vollering and Kimberley Le Court (AG Insurance - Soudal Team), 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively on that climb. Belgian rider Ghekiere from AG Insurance-Soudal took the lead ahead of Kastelijn and Gigante at the top of the Côte des Forges (Km 99.6, Cat. 3, 1.3km at 7.8%) pressing on hard on the descent and soon moving 20” ahead of the bunch. Final Roche-aux-Faucons climb Indeed 20” was Ghekiere’s lead starting the Côte de la Roche-aux-Faucons climb (km 109.4, Cat. 2, 1.3km at 11%) but she was caught by a severely reduced main group 330m from the summit, with Vollering herself setting a fearsome pace in yellow on the ascent. Pieterse took the lead at the summit of Roche-aux-Faucons ahead of Niewiadoma, Vollering and Pauliena Rooijakkers (Fenix-Deceuninck) and they soon forced a 10" gap over the rest of the diminished main group. With less than 10km to go it was just Pieterse, Niewiadoma and Vollering at the front, 30" ahead. In the end it was Pieterse who had the power to get to the finish line first and she also ended the day top of the mountain classification.

Watch tour de france 2024: preview.

It is time for the second Grand Tour of the year and, for most cycling fans, the Tour de France 2024, is the big one. However, there is some shift from tradition this year. The Grand Départ is in Florence and the finish in Nice, not Paris.

We are in for a brutal battle for the Yellow Jersey. The field includes Carlos Rodríguez and Egan Bernal leading the Ineos Grenadiers and Jonas Vingegaard of Team Visma - Lease a Bike. He's a back-to-back winner of this legendary race, having won in 2022 and 2023. Can he make it a hat-trick?

It's Tadej Pogacar who they'll all be trying to keep pace with though. The Slovenian has already won the Giro d’Italia this season. Can he become the first rider to do the double since Marco Pantani in 1998?

And there's no need to leave these questions hanging. You can watch the Tour de France 2024 for yourself with every stage available to stream free. Read on for how to watch the Tour de France live streams from anywhere and all the TV channel and cable-free options you'll need for this three-week feast of cycling.

Today at the Tour de France 2024

After three weeks of amazing cycling, this is the final stage of the Tour de France 2024. Due to the Olympics, it's not the traditional ride into Paris, but an individual time trial from Monaco to Nice. It's a 33.7km course with one category two climb towards the start. Today will be the final time we see record stage winner Sir Mark Cavendish ride in the Tour de France.

Barring catastrophe, Tadej Pogacar will become the eighth man, and the first since Marco Pantani in 1998, to win the Giro and the Tour de France in the same year. He put in yet another stunning performance in the mountains yesterday, breaking the resistance of Jonas Vingegaard on the final climb. He has now picked up five stage wins and don't bet against him claiming a sixth. Richard Carapaz is set to be crowned King of the Mountains after his brilliant finish to the race. Biniam Girmay will win the Green Jersey.

"I should have done it sooner": Cyclist turns heads with "no regrets" handlebar set-up, cutting off drops because "it just feels perfect"; TWO Tour de France Femmes stages in one day + more on the live blog

[Brett Reynolds/Facebook]

It is almost hill climb season, I guess... although we reckon cutting off your drops in the search of a tiny weight saving to smash it up a five-minute climb and do no further riding that day is a very different vibe to ditching the drops on the bike you do all your riding on.

Jo spotted this on Facebook where, unsurprisingly, it's getting quite a lot of attention. No regrets for Brett the bike's owner, in fact he's saying he "should've done it sooner".

The "no-regrets" handlebar set-up (Brett Reynolds on Facebook)

"Use 'em or lose 'em... I just cut them off," he told the entertained masses. "I have been considering doing this for years and as I had spare bars lying around... did it. I just don't use the drops at all and ride the hoods for everything and it somehow feels better, I can't explain it, it just feels perfect with no position compromises. If you are like me and you have some spare bars, try it."

Don't encourage the hill climbers, Brett, they need no convincing to mutilate poor bicycles...

> Weird and wonderful bikes from the National Hill Climb Championships

Need we ask if any of you are tempted? More importantly has anyone done it before? Any regrets? On the plus side, you're going to get slightly more bang for your buck out of bar tape and eradicate that silly dead leg every cyclist only gives themself once if you carelessly smash your knee/quad into a drop. On the other side, not being able to... well, use the drops is something of a vote-swinger for us... but I guess if, like Brett, you never use them anyway, that's less of an issue.

Oh, and no, you won't be able to call in that warranty cover if something goes wrong... but you probably knew that anyway if you're prepping to take a saw to your handlebars.

Defending champion, Demi Vollering, relegates Chloe Dygert to second place in the individual time trial, besting her time by a staggering 5.21 seconds! 🤯⏱️ #TDFF2024 pic.twitter.com/CVQry7II1B — Eurosport (@eurosport) August 13, 2024

You know what? I'm a fan of the couple of sprint stages into short, almost prologue-length, time trial that the Tour de France Femmes experimented with in the Netherlands (admittedly, as the teams would point out, having the latter two of those three on the same day does create a bit of a logistical headache).

Granted, also, the organisers have been somewhat limited by the pancake-like terrain on offer, but it turned the short TT into a sort of yellow jersey handicap race against the clock where the top sprinters get a bit of a head start due to bonus seconds won on the opening two days, and try to fend off the specialists and GC favourites.

We wondered if Charlotte Kool might be able to cling onto yellow for another stage, but alas not, Lorena Wiebes the closest of the sprinters to taking the race lead. However, ultimately it was, like we suspect a couple more days later in the week, one for Demi Vollering, the 2023 TDFF champ taking yellow before the race even leaves her home country or climbs a hill of note.

It continues the dominance Dutch riders have held over the race since its return to the calendar in 2022. Of 19 stages across three editions so far, 12 have gone to riders from the Netherlands, while the yellow jersey has been worn by a Dutch rider after all but six stages, Lotte Kopecky the only person to disrupt that GC dominance. You probably wouldn't bet against Vollering holding yellow all the way to Alpe d'Huez either.

Olympic champion Grace Brown gave her golden TT bike a first run today, a puncture deflating her chances. Of the other notable Olympic performers, Chloe Dygert was second, road race champ Kristen Faulkner fifth, and Anna Henderson 10th. Decent showings by many, but today (and maybe this entire race) is all about Vollering.

A great story for getting followers who haven't actually read today's blog telling you on Facebook that hill climbers have been doing this for years. And of course said hill climbers sending in their gramme-saving sawing, this courtesy of Dale Wilkes...

Reader's hill climb bike (Dale Wilkes/Facebook)

As a couple of you have touched on, the remarkable thing about the drop-less wonder that made today's blog is that it wasn't done for hill climb purposes, just a gravel-riding preference. The other context we've heard people do similar is on a commuter if you don't want to buy a pair of bullhorn bars. In fact, ultra-cycling legend Steve Abraham replied to one of our social media posts saying he'd done the same "and flipped them upside down to make bullhorns for my fixie".

Mark Wynn-Edwards also told us: "Yep, did this years ago on one of my travel bikes. Best thing ever, doesn't get in the way and I didn't ever drop down there anyway."

Paul Ruffy:  "Well I'd probably reach for them and eat tarmac. But seriously they are there for a reason. Adds another position to alleviate any pressure points, more aero (sometimes) and also I think much safer for descending at high speed."

billymansell:  "Cutting off the drops will have been a great idea right up until the point when you're going down a really fast descent and you reach for the drops..."

Of course, my favourite comments were of the less serious kind...

hawkinspeter:  "To enforce my use of the drops, I'm going to remove the tops from my handlebar."

slc:  "I removed the wheels to get below the wind. Seem to work pretty well as I can't feel a breeze no matter how hard I pedal."

Anyway, if you get bored of riding without parts of your bars and need a new fix, try this one, courtesy of live blog favourite Chad Tavernia ...

It doesn't get much better for Charlotte Kool and dsm-firmenich PostNL than this. Dutch rider in the Netherlands, in yellow, winning the first two stages of the Tour de France Femmes. SD Worx looked in control, launching Lorena Wiebes at what seemed to be the perfect moment. But, as her sprint went on, Kool closed, picking a gap between Marianne Vos and Wiebes perfectly, punching through and winning it on the line.

Wiebes and Vos took second and third, this afternoon's TT is going to be very interesting to see if Kool can hold onto yellow for another day, the short six-kilometre course perhaps just about in the wheelhouse of the peloton's fastest sprinters. The yellow jersey has a 14-second advantage over Anniina Ahtosalo and Wiebes, 16 seconds on Vos and Elisa Balsamo, and 20 seconds on the rest of the contenders. This is going to be fun.

You might have seen this YouGov research doing the rounds since the weekend, but wow, give me the confidence of the six per cent of Brits who believe they could qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games road race if they started training now. A marginally more modest five per cent said the track sprint would be one they could qualify for...

Local road race crammed into a weekend vibes at the Tour de France Femmes today, a morning road race followed by an afternoon TT. The AM action is well underway, 40km to go there, then the riders will take to the streets of Rotterdam again this afternoon for a six-kilometre-long individual time trial, two stages that I reckon even I could get through. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be in the time limit, but still a flat 70km in the sun sounds quite pleasant.

Stage three:

2024 Tour de France Femmes stage 3 (ASO)

Some more reaction to yesterday before today explodes into life, yellow jersey Charlotte Kool unsurprisingly called it the "best day of my life" after winning the opening sprint. For compatriot Lorena Wiebes it certainly was not, the pre-stage favourite explaining later that the mechanical, which was in fact not a dropped chain but her derailleur "breaking off in a race incident", gave her no chance.

"This is a disappointment. I am not looking for excuses. I had been looking forward to this for a long time, but knew bad luck," she said. "You work very hard for months and then you miss out."

The Tashkent team was also a popular interview last night, four of their seven riders abandoning on stage one, the team getting a place at the race by virtue of a top-18 ranking earned through points gained in races in its home Central Asia region, rather than at more competitive European events. When the team's riders were chucked in at the calendar's biggest event, several of those riders being young, inexperienced and clearly not yet at the level for such an intense WorldTour race, more than half couldn't make it to the finish on day one.

However, the team's sports director Volodymyr Starchyk hit back at criticism of the team's performance, telling Cyclingnews  their presence at the race is a "victory" for the sport.

"People can think everything they want. Everybody is able to think about what they want but we are here, it's something big for the nation," he said. "The first time in history an Uzbek team with all Uzbek riders so I think also for cycling it's a victory because a country completely outside of races in Europe, an Asian team coming here to Tour de France, it's never happened in history. So it's sad for results because we lose some riders today but at the same time, Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift shows people that cycling is open for the whole world."

I cut the drops off my bike for hill climbs - very happy with it. The only problem is the added weight of the spare bike for the downhill bits.

RE: Transport Secretary Louise Haigh joins Chris Boardman and Laura Laker on Trans-Pennine Trail (N62) bike ride

This is all nice stuff, start 'em gently etc.  And she makes mention of the "variable" NCN...

... except I think much of the NCN is "recreational" - in fact the whole thing is has an "adventure" rating I'd say.

No-one got time for it but for full understanding people should have to cycle to the airport / train / ferry from where they are in the UK, be transported to NL, have a couple of days of cycling / walking / taking public transport around with people explaining both the finer details and the overall philosophies.  Then should be directed to ride back to their transport, returned to the UK and finally have to ride back home again there .

Or is that just cruel?

Still, I'd trust CB to get the message across.

First cut the drops off 25 years ago ... always have since , how much you cut depends on your hand size though ...

I'm down there 80% of my riding time. Would be quite difficult if nowhere to put your hands, eh? Yet another really stupid hack.

Pfaff wrote: I'm down there 80% of my riding time.

Genuinely curious, do you spend most of your time racing crits? I find it hard to imagine any other riding situation in which it would be necessary to spend 80% of your time on the drops, I think even pros would, unless it was a day with particularly strong and consistent headwinds, spend below 50% of their time on the drops. Each to their own of course but I would be interested to know why you spend so much time down there.

My bikes have two things in common: (1) they all have drops (2) I almost never use the drops.

Perhaps a bike fit is in order.

I mean.. if that's a gravel bike with no drops.. they may was well have either brought a XC bike.. or convert it to a flat bar.. at least that way they'd be able to pull the brakes properly.

Pretty sure you can pull the brakes properly with your hands on the hoods, I've done it loads of times.

All jokes aside the cut off drops chat has made me seriously consider buying an old used light carbon bike and rebuilding it for hill climbs, however such thought bubbles are punctured by the fact that I already have an incomplete new acquisition (a vintage 1949 Claud Butler Allrounder) and I don't have the space or the money for another project. And I don't want to go N-1 right now either as I don't have a bike that doesn't get used.

That was my thought process a couple of winters ago, a hillclimber sub 6kg for sub £1500, to take on my local hillclimb competition one year. The starting point was a Boardman SLR (mine was acquired from eBay for £230, when ONE Pro cycling folded, the bikes & parts were sold off by Boardman, mine is ex Kamil Gradek), it was fun sourcing and weighing the parts before assembling it.

"Public outrage prompts Melbourne e-scooter ban

The Australian city of Melbourne has banned rental electronic scooters with officials saying they posed unacceptable safety risks."

I wonder what criteria they used to decide the risks were unacceptable. Would those same risks be applicable to motor vehicles/drivers?

If it is based on the injuries (and deaths) caused by users, and the associated costs etc... could they be compared against the damage/injuries-deaths and other costs caused by motorists?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3w68ywqv2go

It's Australia, so the main criterion was probably whether or not the rental scooter was a car.  If not, then ban it!

What news of the Bristol scooter trial?  I've passed through the place at the beginning of the year and the apocalypse didn't seem to be occurring.  Actually didn't see that many being used.

(I'm mostly "e-scooters not the answer to any of the questions we should be asking" but I also don't think they're the end of the world.  And for a few people having a tiny-folding "last mile" transporter could obviously be very *convenient*).

I see lots of them around and they seem to be very popular for people to commute on. Mrs HawkinsPeter enjoys using them to get to her work and she also uses the e-bikes when she can find one available.

E-scooters are definitely useful for short journeys and the "casual" nature of them appeals to a lot of people. They're also incredibly nimble and so great for winding through queues of slow moving traffic.

(Maybe too popular if the crime reports are anything to go by: https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/e-scooters-bikes-being-set-9478089 )

I believe the main issue is users dumping errr "parking" the scooters in all manner of places after using then causing trip/crash hazards for pedestrians and cyclists. And also injuries and the occasional death sustained by riders when they hit a rock or stick or other obstacle at speed  and come off. Some of these incidents would be from riders using the scooters not as they were intended to be used ie carrying passengers and not wearing a helmet. Nothing to do with cars at all.

I mean ... "some people were riding them on the pavements"?

What did they think would happen?

16mph limits?  You're on a pogo stick on wheels, what could go wrong?

While much of this issue is give the general public new toys, expect 'creative' use" it may also be that Melbourne - while maybe changing - doesn't seem to have protected infra which goes where people want to go (rather than a nice rambling shared-use trail) .

Drop bars. My guess is maybe 95% of road cyclists never use the drops. They are there offering an alternative hand position, but I've rarely found them useful. Some might say the rider is more aerodynamic if on the drops, but this has been disproved. It's more aerodynamic to be on the hoods with horizontal forearms. I wouldn't cut my bars down though 'cos they look fugly (and I might want to sell them one day).

To enforce my use of the drops, I'm going to remove the tops from my handlebar

I removed the wheels to get below the wind. Seem to work pretty well as I can't feel a breeze no matter how hard I pedal.

I followed advice and cut off the drops.  Much more convenient for commuting, lighter, takes up less space etc.

In fact I can fit them in a rucksack if I want.  Not sure what to do with the rest of the bike though?

I wonder how many people would change their answer to the poll when they hear they don't qualify for australian citizenship and that breakdancing won't be in the next olmpics...

6% of Brits surveyed are idiots.

Avatar

You're statistically incorrect. You're assuming that there's a lot of overlap and that the 6% of idiots that believe they could compete in road race are the same 6% that think they could qualify for the 100m. The qualifying time being 10 seconds for men and just over 11 seconds for women. Also the survey revealed that 15% of over 65s thought they could compete at Olympic level in 4 years time. There are a lot more than 6% of idiots.

Avatar

Yes, nore like out of the 27% who thought they could qualify for one or more sport approximately 26.99% are idiots.

In the Olympic men's road race they barely averaged 25 mph, with the best possible equipment, training and support.

A lycra-clad (from head to toe) commuter will typically do 50 mph, with no special preparation or backup.

Methinks you're being too judgemental.

You never know.  In amongst that 6% could be a few folk who have the right stuff in terms of genetics and physicality who with the right support, training and nutrition could get there.

I cut off a set of drops years ago. It was a great set up for commuting.

Isn't that just a set of bullhorn bars?

Nope, they're wider.

Cutting off the drops will have been a great idea right up until the point when you're going down a really fast descent and you reach for the drops...

How To Watch the Tour de France in 2024

Cheer on your favorite riders and teams as the Tour de France races to NBC Sports platforms this summer.

The Tour de France pedals onto TV every summer—showcasing the world’s greatest road cyclists. As in recent seasons, NBC Sports will broadcast this year’s event across NBC and Peacock .

Peacock is our favorite service for watching the race because it carries every stage live and on demand. It’s also the streaming home of the Tour de France Femmes and Vuelta a España .

Keep scrolling for a closer look at watching Tour de France 2024 TV coverage—including the complete schedule with channel listings.

What channel shows the Tour de France?

You can watch the Tour de France on NBC and Peacock . You’ll get the most live coverage from Peacock because it streams every stage of the men’s and women’s races, plus the daily Tour de France Pre-Race Show . Meanwhile, NBC will carry select portions of the men’s Saturday stages—including an encore of Stage 20.

Can’t get enough of Le Tour? Check out the behind-the-scenes docuseries Tour de France: Unchained on Netflix . Each season covers the previous year’s tour by chronicling the experiences of top racers like Jasper Philipsen, Jonas Vingegaard, and Mark Cavendish.

2024 Tour de France TV schedule

This year’s Tour de France begins on June 29 in Italy before crossing into France on the fourth day. As usual, the 21-day route features a solid mix of flat to mountainous terrain. Two rest days break up the action before racers make their way to Nice—a departure from the usual Avenue des Champs-Élysées finish in Paris.

Data effective as of post date. Race times include Peacock’s live Tour de France Pre-Race Show coverage.

2024 Tour de France Femmes schedule

Just as the Summer Olympics wraps up in Paris, the Tour de France Femmes takes off from the Netherlands. This third edition of the women’s race features an eight-stage route that ends with a scenic climb in the Western Alpes.

Data effective as of post date.

Best Tour de France TV plans

A Peacock subscription is the best way to watch the Tour de France. Starting at $7.99 a month, the streaming service provides live and on-demand access to every stage of the men’s and women’s races. You’ll also get daily pre- and post-race studio coverage during the men’s competition, plus race highlights and rider interviews. During the 2024 race, episodes of Lance Armstrong’s THEMOVE podcast will also be available for on-demand access via Peacock.

If you’re only interested in Le Tour, you can cancel your Peacock subscription after the final stage. Otherwise, the service’s cycling coverage doesn’t stop there. Peacock hosts the Liège–Bastogne–Liège, Critérium du Dauphiné, Vuelta a España, and Paris Tours. It’s also home to the Paris Olympics , which features road race and track cycling events days after the Tour de France ends.

Fan verdict: At CableTV.com, we’ll be watching the 2024 Tour de France on Peacock because it’s the only platform in the U.S. that provides live coverage of every stage. This exclusivity is crucial for dedicated fans who want to experience the race in its entirety. Peacock also offers the advantage of full-stage replays, which is especially important because of the race’s early start times.

Which TV providers carry the Tour de France?

Besides Peacock, most TV services carry Tour de France coverage via NBC. Our table below illustrates which popular providers offer the two channels.

Data effective as of post date. *Available in select markets.

How can I watch the Tour de France for free?

† CableTV.com utilizes paid Amazon links. Amazon.com Price; $39.99 (as of 6/20/24 10:45 a.m. CT). Read full disclaimer .

The most convenient way to watch the Tour de France for free is by using an over-the-air (OTA) antenna to pick up your local NBC station. Unfortunately, NBC doesn’t show a lot of race coverage—only three Saturday presentations. But it never hurts having an antenna in your TV setup.

If you don’t have an antenna, most cost between $20.00 and $60.00. We recommend the Mohu Leaf 50 for its 60-mile range and slim design. But you’ll want to verify the distance of your nearest NBC station by entering your zip code into the Federal Communications Commission’s Reception Map Tool . That’ll help determine if you need a more robust antenna, which we feature on our Best OTA Antennas page.

Can I stream the Tour de France for free? You can watch select Tour de France stages for free using a live TV streaming trial . Otherwise, you can also catch free race recaps on NBC Sports’ YouTube channel .

How to watch the Tour de France FAQ

Can you watch the tour de france on nbc.

Yes, some Tour de France coverage airs on NBC. But you’ll want a Peacock Premium subscription to watch every stage from start to finish.

How can I watch today’s Tour de France stage?

If today’s date is between June 29 and July 21, you can watch the current Tour de France stage live and on demand via Peacock . Check out our complete Tour de France 2024 schedule for race start times and channel listings.

Does Peacock include the Tour de France world feed?

No, Peacock won’t stream the 2024 Tour de France world feed. While the service carried the world feed in 2023, subscribers will only get NBC Sports-produced coverage in 2024. That means you’re stuck with play-by-play caller Phil Liggett, analyst Bob Roll, and reporters Steve Porino and Christian Vande Velde. You can work around this by using a VPN set to Canada and signing up for FloBikes, which features Eurosport’s coverage with commentators Anthony McCrossan and Nicolas Roche.

Is every cycling Grand Tour race on NBC?

No, not every race in the Grand Tour of Cycling airs on NBC. While NBC Sports channels and platforms televise the Tour de France and Vuelta a España, the Giro d’Italia streams on Max’s  B/R Sports Add-On .

What cycling events are on Peacock?

Popular cycling events featured on Peacock include the Tour de France, Vuelta a España , and Olympic cycling . Other major UCI World Tour races like the Giro d’Italia, Milan–San Remo, and Tour of Flanders stream on services like FloBikes and Max’s B/R Sports Add-On .

Is there an official Tour de France app?

Yes, you can heighten your Tour de France viewing experience by downloading the official mobile app on your Android or iOS device. The app comes with course maps, real-time stats, and live commentary.

‘They Really Want to Win the Tour De France’: Olympic MTB Champ Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt Explains Visma-Lease a Bike Move

Frenchwoman says ineos’ decision not to introduce a women’s team sealed her departure: ‘i have no other choice.’.

She’s been an Ineos Grenadiers athlete for two seasons but new Olympic cross country champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt ’s departure from the squad was guaranteed due to an ongoing delay in introducing a women’s road squad.

News of the Frenchwoman’s move to Visma-Lease a Bike became public this week, with victory in the women’s Tour de France a major factor in her decision to quit MTB racing and resume road competition.

“They don’t have plans to make a women’s team at the moment,” Ferrand-Prévôt told L’Equipe in one of her first big interviews since realizing her goal of becoming Olympic champ.

“And that’s why I changed teams. But nevertheless, it’s true that this morning [Wednesday], when the news came out, I thought of them because it was a very, very good experience for two years. It was incredible.

“But unfortunately, I have no other choice if I wanted to do road racing next year.”

Now 32, Ferrand-Prévôt has a rich history across several disciplines in cycling. She has taken world titles in road, cyclocross, gravel and mountain bike, focusing mostly on off-road events.

However she was also world road race champion in 2014 and won Flèche Wallonne the same year. Dedicating herself to road is inspired both by the need for a new challenge and also to chase victory in a race she has long dreamt about.

“You know what I said to my mother when I was little? ‘Mom, I wish I was a boy so I could do the Tour de France,’ I think I was 10 years old, I really told her that. Now, this is an opportunity that presents itself to me, I can’t pass it up,” she said.

“You will also meet a different audience, because being a French woman who has set herself the goal of winning the Tour de France also means meeting the general public.

“I think it has had a big impact since I said I wanted to go back on the road to try to win the Tour de France. People are super happy and then we can really see that it’s another level, it’s nice.”

‘They analyzed all my training data and all my power’

Ferrand-Prévôt became an Ineos Grenadiers athlete in 2023. That relationship will end at the end of this year and reflects a long reluctance from the team to get involved in women’s competition.

While more and more established men’s teams have in recent seasons set up women’s squads, the former Team Sky and current Ineos Grenadiers setup has declined to do so. It instead backed Ferrand Prévôt as an individual athlete.

Now Visma-Lease a Bike will benefit from her talent, and will work closely with her to try to secure Tour success.

“It’s a reflection on what I was going to do after the Games, and especially in 2025,” she said of the decision to join. “I didn’t see myself doing a whole mountain bike cycle again, I feel like I’ve done a bit of everything. I spoke with several teams, including Visma.

“I felt that it was professional, that it was square and that there were a lot of human beings. I also know that they know how to prepare for major events like the Tour de France with Jonas [Vingegaard]. And by being there as leader, they won’t make me whip in every race.

“It will really be a preparation to win the Tour de France. That’s also what interests me.”

Her partner Dylan van Baarle is part of the team but she dismissed suggestions that this was a factor in her move. She said that they don’t talk much about cycling and that it was her own decision to sign for the squad.

She wanted to go there, and it wanted to have her. That’s due in part to it sharing her goal of winning Le Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, and its belief that she has what it takes to challenge.

“They analyzed all my training data and all my power,” she said, talking about how the move came about and was finalized.

“If I wasn’t capable of being at the level on the road, they simply wouldn’t have taken me because they really want to win the Tour de France on the road.

“They did it with the men, their goal is to do it with the women too.”

Former world champion Marianne Vos is part of the team but Ferrand-Prévôt believes there will not be an overlap, due to her belief that Vos is a classics-type rider and a sprinter and that both will be able to succeed at the team.

Both riders competed together while with Rabobank in the past. Reuniting will help Ferrand-Prévôt to settle in, but she said that gaining the trust of her teammates will be a big early goal.

She and they will need to work hard together if the big ambition is to be achieved.

“I’m not saying I’m going to win the Tour but we have the ambition to get there,” she said. “It won’t be easy, far from it, and it will take time.

“That’s why I signed for three years. First, you have to get back into the peloton, get your place back, find your marks and then learn. I don’t know how long it will take.”

She pledged to work hard, saying that she is not returning to simply make up numbers.

“If I come back on the road, it’s not to be an extra. [It’s] to really perform, to have a challenge and to be a competitor at the highest level.”

  • FuboTV also provides access to NBC’s coverage for $70 a month.

The 2022 Tour de France begins on Friday, July 1st with a 13.3km individual time trial through Copenhagen, Denmark. (Yes, Denmark!) So it’s time to start planning how you’re going to watch it.

Whether that means streaming from your phone, starting your morning with the previous day’s highlights, or inviting your friends over for a viewing party, the options for watching the Tour de France are plentiful.

For the Fanatics

In general, NBC offers the most accessible and affordable (and legal) options for American viewers to watch the Tour de France through its Peacock Premium streaming service for $4.99 a month. For ad-free coverage you’ll need a subscription to Peacock Premium Plus, which runs $9.99 a month. Eligible Comcast Xfinity X1 and Flex customers and Cox Contour customers may already access Peacock Premium for free.

You could cancel your subscription at the end of the Tour, but consider this: by subscribing to Peacock Premium or Peacock Premium Plus you’ll also have access to the full men’s and women’s Tours as well as other races covered by NBC and its partners, including the 2022 Vuelta a España and next year’s editions of Paris-Nice and Paris-Roubaix.

The Peacock app is available on Roku, Apple devices, Android and AndroidTV devices, Google platforms, Chromecast, Xbox devices, Playstation 4 and 4 Pro, VIZIO SmartCast TVs, and LG Smart TVs. You can also watch online via the Peacock website.

If you have a good cable package and prefer conventional viewing on your television, you’re in luck: NBC will offer the race to cable subscribers via the USA Network and CNBC . Live coverage often starts around 7 a.m. ET, so 9-to-5ers will likely need to record each stage and watch later. (Check the full schedule for details.)

No Cable? No Problem.

If you don’t have cable and want more than what’s offered on the NBC app, a subscription to FuboTV costs $70 per month. Add the $12 per month cycling package you’ll have full access to NBC’s coverage of the race. Fubo’s also great for those who love cycling year round, as FuboTV has a full-time cycling channel covering the major Tours, the Classics, some World Championships, and even BMX racing. (It’s also available in Canada.) If you’ve been looking for a streaming service that offers most if not all of the channels you enjoy watching, it’s a solid option.

Riders to Watch

Slovenia’s Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) has won the last two Tours and starts this year’s race as the overwhelming favorite. He can do it all: climb, descend, time trial–even the cobblestones of Belgium and Northern France have proven to be no match for the 23-year-old. Assuming he avoids crashes and bad luck during the Tour’s dangerous first week , he should have little trouble taking his third win.

Pogačar’s biggest challenge should come from Jumbo-Visma’s co-captains, Slovenia’s Primož Roglič and Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard, who finished second to Pogačar in 2020 and 2021, respectively. If they can play to one another’s strengths and avoid worrying about which one is their team’s “true” leader, then they might have a chance to dethrone the two-time defending champ.

The INEOS Grenadiers have won seven of the last ten Tours de France with four different riders–so clearly they know what it takes to win the world’s biggest bike race. But Pogačar’s proven to be a tough nut for the British super team to crack. This year we expect them to count on a mix of both old and new in their bid to reclaim the yellow jersey, with co-captains Geraint Thomas, who won the Tour in 2018, and Daniel Martinez, who’s riding only his third Tour and his first as his team’s protected rider, expected to lead the way.

Other riders to keep an eye on include Australia’s Ben O’Connor, Russia’s Aleksandr Vlasov (BORA-hansgrohe), and Colombia’s Rigoberto Uran (EF Education-EasyPost).

Since getting hooked on pro cycling while watching Lance Armstrong win the 1993 U.S. Pro Championship in Philadelphia, longtime Bicycling contributor Whit Yost has raced on Belgian cobbles, helped build a European pro team, and piloted that team from Malaysia to Mont Ventoux as an assistant director sportif. These days, he lives with his wife and son in Pennsylvania, spending his days serving as an assistant middle school principal and his nights playing Dungeons & Dragons.

Tour de France: Tadej Pogačar Dominates

As it happened: Breakaway succeeds with little change in GC on Le Grand-Bornand

Vuelta a españa stage 1 live - race opens with short time trial in lisbon, tour de pologne: tim wellens fastest in stage 2 time trial as jonas vingegaard takes over yellow.

Vingegaard second and Felix Großschartner third on stage

Tim Wellens (UAE Team Emirates) scored the fourth time trial win of his career on stage 2 of the Tour de Pologne, setting the only time under 24 minutes on the 15.4km uphill test to Karpacz.

The Belgian is out of the overall GC picture after finishing 1:27 down on the hilly opening stage but, setting out 50 minutes before the overall contenders, set a time of 23:59 that proved unbeatable for the 40 men that came after.

Behind Wellens, it was Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease A Bike) who scored second place, finishing nine seconds down with a time of 24:08. Vingegaard, who finished fourth on the opening stage, now moves into the overall lead as a result.

Another UAE rider, Felix Großschartner, rounded out the stage podium with a time of 24:14 – he was one of four riders from his team filling out the top 10.

The three men lying ahead of Vingegaard on the general classification all shed time to the Dane to fall behind him in the standings. Third-placed Lukas Nerurkar (EF Education-EasyPost) finished 41st with a time of 25:40, while second-placed Wilco Kelderman (Visma-Lease A Bike) set a time of 24:41 in 10th following a crash and a bike change.

Race leader and stage 1 winner Thibaus Nys (Lidl-Trek), meanwhile, dropped entirely out of contention with a time of 27:32 to finish in 96th place, 3:33 down on Wellens.

Vingegaard now holds the race lead by a commanding 24 seconds from his teammate Kelderman, while Diego Ulissi (UAE Team Emirates) now lies third overall, another second back, after finishing sixth on the day.

Earlier on in the day, it was Polish racer Filip Maciejuk (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) who set the quickest time among the first 60 riders. His time of 25:15 put him a minute ahead of any other time to that point and he took to the hot seat as provisional leader.

Half an hour later, Romain Bardet (DSM-Firmenich PostNL) came through the finish line 14 seconds up to take over the lead, though his time would eventually end up in 20th place.

Still, it stood until Wellens took the course, with the Belgian passing through the mid-stage checkpoint in third place, nine seconds down on Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek).

But Wellens turned the tables as the road reared upwards in the second half of the stage, putting 1:02 into Bardet and taking the hot seat.

He'd watch Oscar Onley (DSM-Firmenich PostNL) – with a time of 24:14 – and Großschartner both come close to his benchmark, but nobody could beat him at the finish. Two-time Tour de France winner Vingegaard looked to have the best chance of doing so of the late runners, but he came through the checkpoint at seven seconds down on Wellens.

It was far from an impossibly wide margin to make up on the run to the finish, but even so, it proved too much for Vingegaard, leaving Belgian time trial champion Wellens to enjoy his victory with a nine-second gap to second.

TV 2 går i gult

Foto: Sveinung Kyte / TV 2

– Her må Thor på jobb

Foto: Szymon Gruchalski / Uno-X

– Her må Thor på jobb.

32-åringen varslet at bekreftelsen kommer snart.
