Good show with a good retrospective of their 20 years. They found a good way of integrating all of their multiple styles into a good 2.15 hours starting with a bunch of their favorite followed by an acoustic set and finishing with the complete Discovering the Waterfront album in order. I have seen them about 7 times already but I like that for this one they brought an additional member to cover all the violins, cello, keyboard parts to reproduce as close possible the original songs as they were originally recorded.

Great show!

Amazing show. Third time I see them never disappoint. I also met beautiful people who shares the love and admiration that I have for this band. Looking forward to the next 20 years of your career. Please do not stop making music. Thano you.

This show was fantastic, as always! The crowd was great, but the showmanship of Silverstein was on full display. It's been awhile since the last time I thoroughly enjoyed a concert like I did this one. Tonight, Alive was also wonderful. Jenna McDougall is always an inspiration, and the band did a magnificent job. An A+ show, hands down!

Silverstein Book Late Summer / Early Fall 2022 Tour With The Amity Affliction, Holding Absence + Unity-TX

UPDATE: Silverstein have just released another new song and video. Check out the Wyatt Clough-helmed video for "Live Like This" featuring special guest nothing.nowhere below.

The 2022 touring schedule continues to fill, and there's another great package trek to announce as Silverstein will be hitting the road with The Amity Affliction , Holding Absence and Unity-TX , providing a varied lineup for heavy music fans hitting the U.S. and Canada.

The tour gets underway Aug. 25 in Phoenix, Arizona, heading up the West Coast, then crossing back through the country and finishing out with early October shows in Canada. You can see all of the dates, cities and venues listed below.

The trek comes just as fans will have had the summer to digest Silverstein's brand new album, Misery Made Me , which officially arrives on Friday (May 6). The band issued the songs "Bankrupt" and "It's Over" last year, then served up the album's single "Ultraviolet" back in February. The album is available to pre-order here.

The Amity Affliction's most recent album was 2020's Everyone Loves You ... Once You Leave Them , but the group did serve up some more recent music with the late 2021 EP Somewhere Beyond the Blue . Holding Absence issued the stellar outing, The Greatest Mistake of My Life , in 2021, while Unity-TX are touring in support of their Hellway album.

Tickets and VIP packages will be available as of this Friday (May 6) at 10AM local time. See all the dates listed below and head here for ticketing info.

SILVERSTEIN released its latest studio album, "Misery Made Me" , in 2022 via UNFD . Inspired by the previous two years, "Misery Made Me" is a depiction of SILVERSTEIN — and world at large's — collective turmoil, frustration, and anxiety. It's a record that is a product of the moment in time in which it was created yet doesn't feel like it will date itself anytime soon, as many of its topics of loneliness, anxiety and isolation are eternal human struggles.

SILVERSTEIN has continued to build on its already-wide reaching impact. Immersing itself in new technologies like TikTok , Discord , the metaverse and Twitch (even holding public writing sessions with fans over the latter) during its formation, the band has confirmed its unique ability to adapt and connect in all cycles of its career.

It's both intriguing and inspiring that a band — who could have merely rested on the impressive legacy they've already cemented — would continue to dig deep and find the inspiration to reach people in meaningful new ways. "Misery Made Me" is a campaign hinged on SILVERSTEIN 's reflection and gratitude for their roots, their honoring of their earliest fans, and their staunch desire to explore forward-thinking and adventurous ways to connect with new ones.

Silverstein Kick Off Tour with Spinning Wheel + Live Debuts

  • On Tour Now

  • Categories: On Tour Now Tagged: Silverstein Silverstein at Marquee Theatre

Silverstein, the Canadian emo/screamo band, kicked off its fall tour August 25 in Arizona with a new feature on the tour: a spinning wheel.

About 2/3rds of the way into the show, a band member or crew spins a giant wheel containing the title of a dozen of the group's tunes. As game show music plays, the wheel goes round and round and when it lands on a song, that's what gets rocked out. After the song is over, they repeat the process two more times.

On the 25th at the Marquee Theater the spinning wheel tunes were "Already Dead," "Stand Amid the Roar," and "Massachusetts."

Utilizing a giant wheel to add excitement to a setlist is not new. Way back in 1986, Elvis Costello introduced a giant wheel with scores of original and cover tunes.

Throughout the Beverly Theater show in Beverly Hills he had one of his two MCs (John Doe of X and Tom Waits) choose audience members to have a turn at The Spinning Songbook. Once the pointer landed on a song, the fan had their choice of sitting at a bar that was on stage and watch TV or they could dance with a young woman in a Go-Go cage.

In 2011, Costello dusted off the wheel and fashioned an entire tour and album around the gimmick, and named it The Return of the Spinning Songbook.

Let's compare the two wheels, shall we?

On the left we have Costello's giant contraption which is practically the size of the actual Wheel of Fortune. It appears to be about 3x the size of the King of America. For a tour where the spinning songbook was the premise of the evening, it made sense because this way audience members could easily see it.

silverstein tour lineup

Silverstein's wheel is less ambitious, but also easier to manage, which is important since they are co-headlining this tour with The Amity Affliction, so time is of the essence. But also it wasn't the centerpiece of the evening, it was more of a fun little aside to the traditional presentation of one hit after another. Their wheel seems to be only a few feet tall, and probably much easier to transport while on tour.

Here are the dozen tunes that have a random chance of being played during the song wheel portion of the gig: "The Artist," and "Sacrifice" from Rescue "Already Dead," "Call It Karma," "The Ides of March," and "Your Sword Versus My Dagger" from Discovering the Waterfront "Broken Stars" from A Shipwreck in the Sand "Massachusetts" and "Stand Amid the Roar" from This Is How the Wind Shifts "Bleeds No More" and "November" from When Broken Is Easily Fixed "Still Dreaming" from Arrivals & Departures

Midway through their Tempe show, Silverstein had a live debut of "Die Alone," from their 11th and most recent album, Misery Made Me . Check out some footage of that new song from their show in Los Angeles:

After the wheel bit, they also live debuted "The Altar/Mary" which they've kept in the setlist since. Take a look at the full setlist from the tour's opening night:

Been caught sparring: A concert by the reunited Jane’s Addiction in Boston came to a sudden end Friday night when a clearly enraged Perry Farrell threw a punch at guitarist Dave Navarro — and was restrained by crew members, still appearing physically agitated as he was hustled offstage.

Video of the lead-up to the scuffle shows Ferrell fiercely grunting in the direction of the audience, before he turns to his right and begins issuing those bellows at Navarro, face to face. He appears to aggressively bump shoulders with the guitarist during a solo, and Navarro eventually stops playing and puts a hand up to Farrell’s chest to establish distance. Then the singer appears to deliver a punch. At that point, as the stage lights are lowered, three men, including bassist Eric Avery, surround and grab hold of Farrell, who is finally forced offstage, still apparently struggling as he’s hustled into the wings.

Once Farrell was gone, the rest of the band — including Navarro — stepped to the front of the stage to give the crowd a gentler farewell, appearing calm as they hugged one another, applauded the audience, tapped their hearts and offered a peace sign.

The altercation immediately blew up on social media, with no shortage of jokes — including countless Oasis comparisons — along with more serious concerns expressed for the well-being of the band members involved.

“Jane’s Addiction broke up before Oasis omg,” came a typical tweet, from the user @Tribecalledflex .

On setlist.fm , the notations section for the Boston show offered an ironic juxtaposition of trivia about the gig, reading: “Note: Stephen Perkins’ drum kit was outfitted with balloons in celebraton of his birthday. The set ended early after Perry Farell punched Dave Navarro.”

Press representatives for Jane’s Addiction and the tour promoter, Live Nation, could not immediately be reached for comment Friday night.

Chatter had already circulated in social media about the Jane’s Addiction shows earlier this week in New York City, held at the Rooftop at Pier 51. At the first of two concerts there, Farrell admitted to the audience he was not in great vocal shape, reportedly saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, I have to be honest with you. Something’s wrong with my voice. I just can’t get the notes out all of a sudden.” The next day, bandmate Eric Avery posted to Instagram, “Looking forward to getting another crack at this spectacular rooftop venue tonight. I’m optimistic we will be better.”

The following night in New York, things indeed took a turn for the better, according to a reviewer for JamBase who wrote, “I had seen the reports of Farrell’s condition on Tuesday, so I had trepidation as Jane’s Addiction came on. All my fears quickly eased away as my first Jane’s experience was a great one. Farrell sang well, Perkins crushed it behind the kit, Navarro shredded and Avery anchored the band with his steady work on bass. … Some of (Farrell’s) stories were engaging and others rambled as he chugged from a bottle of wine. He also was fixated on a device that I’d imagine was supposed to add effects to his voice but didn’t have much impact to my ear. However, when it came to singing the songs, Farrell nailed most of them.”

Ironically, in light of what has since transpired, the singer halted a beef at the band’s second New York show. “Farrell actually stopped the latter tune after he spotted a fight in the audience,” JamBase reported. “Farrell had a fan named ‘Bobby’ make up with the crowd member he was feuding with.”

Jane’s Addiction’s first tour in 15 years is a co-headlining one, with another beloved ’90s group, Love & Rockets, sharing the bill.

Friday night’s fateful Boston show came about 20 dates into the groups’ dual tour itinerary, with 15 left to go. As of this writing, the tour is still scheduled to continue and wrap up Oct. 16 at L.A.’s YouTube Theater, returning to where the group already successfully performed once near the beginning of their outing in mid-August.
