The icon’s journey marathon story.

The Icon’s Journey Marathon vision was inspired by President Nelson Mandela’s journey of growing up in the rural villages of the former Transkei homeland to becoming a Global Icon.

In the physical event participants in South Africa’s longest 1 day running event have a unique opportunity to trace the Icon’s footprints from where he  was born, grew up, went to school and is laid to rest.

A unique heritage, tourism and adventure route where participants have an opportunity to also touch the birth places of some of South Africa’s Iconic freedom fighters namely Chris Hani, Walter Sisulu, Mama Albertina Sisulu, King Sabata Dalindyebo, Govan Mbeki and President Thabo Mbeki.

The Heritage Route Distances

103km Clarkebury Institution start. 35km Nelson Mandela’s Qunu home start. 13km Xolilizwe Sangoni Technical High School, Qokolweni start. 7km Tyumbu bridge, Zimbane start. All distances finish at Nelson Mandela Museum, Bhunga building Mthatha.

Olivia Munn Explains Her Breast Cancer Timeline

Former 'X-Men' actress Olivia Munn revealed earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and has since undergone multiple treatments and surgeries.

Olivia Munn is opening up about her cancer journey and has offered her fans and followers a timeline for the events that led to her treatment. In a new video shared to Instagram, Munn revealed a list od dates for when she encountered different events in her journey to beat the illness and explained that she chose to do so because she's received a multitile of "questions about my breast cancer timeline.

The timeline starts with two mammograms and ultrasounds that Munn had in January 2022, all of which were "clear." After some other tests over the next year, Munn received a breast cancer diagnosis in April 2023. She then underwent treatment and procedures for several months, including a double mastectomy in May 2023 and a breast reconstruction in September 2023, and is still being treated today. The former X-Men actress clarified that she was not going to "go through each one individually because I think that would be too long of a video."

Munn also said she hopes that by sharing the timeline she's experienced "it helps others who have gone through it, or are going through it right now, maybe feel a little comfort in knowing that I've gone down the same path and I'm doing OK." Finally, Munn thanked those who have approached her in public with positive comments, as well as those who offer kind words on social media, saying it "means so much" to have the support of her fans.

In the post's caption, Munn wrote, "My breast cancer timeline. I've gotten a lot of questions about this and I've wanted to make this video for those asking for a while but I've been filming, finishing filming, running after a toddler and starting a new medication. Thank you for your patience and understanding." She then added, "If you have any questions about my treatment or surgeries I've listed please put them in the comments."

In March, Munn revealed that she'd been diagnosed with breast cancer, and took to Instagram to share that she was diagnosed in early 2023. She also shared photos of her journey, including numerous hospital stays.

"In the past ten months, I've had four surgeries," Munn wrote in a post among a series of slides. "So many days spent in bed I can't even count and learned more about cancer, cancer treatment and hormones than I could ever have imagined. Surprisingly, I only cried twice. I guess I haven't felt like there was time to cry. My focus narrowed and I tabled any emotions that I felt would interfere with my ability to stay clear-headed."  Click here to read Munn's full statement.

White Nights

Although the phenomenon known as the "White Nights" is not unique to St. Petersburg, in no other northern city have they received such poetic and literary acclaim. What could be more romantic than a walk along the banks of the city's rivers and canals in almost broad daylight, no matter what the time of day? From late May to early July the nights are bright in St. Petersburg, with the brightest period, the White Nights, normally lasting from June 11 th to July 2 nd . The White Nights (Beliye Nochi) are a curious phenomenon caused by St. Petersburg's very northerly geographical location - at 59 degrees 57' North (roughly on the same latitude as Oslo, Norway, the southern tip of Greenland and Seward, Alaska). St. Petersburg is the world's most northern city with a population over 1 million, and its stands at such a high latitude that the sun does not descend below the horizon enough for the sky to grow dark. In fact night becomes curiously indistinguishable from day, so much so that the authorities never need to turn the city's streetlights on!

About the event

The Icon's Journey Marathon (a proud member of Proudly South African) presents to you it's 5th annual multi-sporting event.

The Icon’s Journey Marathon vision was inspired by President Nelson Mandela’s journey of growing up in the rural villages of the former Transkei homeland to becoming a Global Icon.

Cyclists will be peddling against the 95km apex connecting the two towns:  Port St. Johns and Mthatha.

Shabazz Napier completes the FC Bayern Basketball roster

An offensively strong guard with plenty of NBA experience completes the roster of FC Bayern Basketball: Shabazz Napier arrived in Munich on Tuesday and joins the German champions . His contract is valid for the upcoming season and includes a option for an additional year. The 33-year-old American, who also holds a Puerto Rican passport, has played 354 games over six NBA seasons with an average of 7.1 points per game. Last season, he played for EuroLeague rivals Milan and Red Star Belgrade. In the EuroLeague, his stats were 11.8 points and 3.5 assists per game.

The American-born player will reunite with two familiar faces in Munich: He spent most of the past two seasons with Johannes Voigtmann at Olimpia Milan – Niels Giffey , on the other hand, celebrated two NCAA championships with Napier during their exciting college days with the UConn Huskies, in 2011 and 2014. Napier was selected 24th overall in the first round of the 2014 NBA Draft.
