We are more than happy to include a flight quote separately to your package so that you can decide if you would like to book with us or on your own.  While booking flights can seem straight-forward, there are often hidden fees or classes of service that do not include seat assignments, meals or checked bags. We have been booking flights since 1985 and know the best routings and have great contracts that mean we often have better prices than what you will see online.

In Ireland, we generally try to book hotels that are at a 4 star level or higher. In some situations, we will book some 3 star or B&B properties but we do require them to be at a certain standard. We try to ensure a member of the team have stayed at each property in recent years or that we have done a site inspection.

Planning Deposits

Your first vacation quote, and up to two revisions, for trips of 9 or fewer days, and 45 days in advance of travel, are complimentary. If an itinerary requires further revisions subsequent to this, we will require a non-refundable deposit of $75 per person in order to continue.

If you are requesting a quote for a vacation that is 10 days in length, or with travel dates within 45 days, or to a non-core destination, a deposit of $75 per person will be required in order for us to begin working on your proposal.

Planning deposits can then be put towards the cost of the trip should you decide to proceed with the booking.

Why Choose Self-Drive Holidays in Morocco?

Freedom to Explore:   Self-driving is the best way to navigate winding roads that lead to the most breathtaking views at your own pace. Self-driving offers the liberty to detour, stay in hidden gems, and immerse yourself in the authentic Moroccan experience.

Cultural Odyssey:  Each turn leads to a new chapter in Morocco’s diverse story. From the bustling markets (souks) to remote Berber villages, you’ll soak in the varied tapestry of Moroccan life.

Scenic Splendor:  From the Sahara’s golden dunes to the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, Morocco’s landscapes will leave you awe-inspired at every turn.

When to go Morocco self-drive holidays

Spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) offer the best weather for a self-drive adventure in Morocco—nice and warm during the day, cool at night. If you’re up for the Sahara Desert, go between October and April to avoid the scorching heat. Coastal spots are great year-round, but summers might get windy. Just be mindful of Ramadan if you’re planning your trip around it, as it can affect local businesses’ hours.

Planning Your Self-Drive Adventure

Choosing Your Route:  Begin in Marrakech, the bustling heart of Morocco, and chart your course based on your interests. Coastal towns like Essaouira, the desert wonders of Merzouga, or the historic cities of Fes and Chefchaouen offer diverse experiences.

Vehicle Selection:  Opt for a reliable 4×4 or a sturdy sedan—something suitable for both highways and off-the-beaten-path adventures. Local car rental agencies in cities or airports provide a variety of options.

Navigating Moroccan Roads:  While roads are generally good, some remote areas might have rough patches. GPS and offline maps are your best friends. Additionally, signage can vary, so brushing up on basic French or Arabic phrases for communication could be helpful.

Must-See Destinations

Marrakech:  Lose yourself in the maze-like Medina, visit the vibrant Jardin Majorelle, and experience the energy of the Djemaa el Fna square.

Sahara Desert:  Trek on camelback through the Erg Chebbi dunes, camp under a blanket of stars, and witness sunrise or sunset—a surreal spectacle.

Chefchaouen:  Known as the Blue Pearl, this town boasts narrow, winding streets painted in calming shades of blue—a photographer’s dream.

Fes:  Explore the UNESCO-listed Fes el-Bali, one of the world’s largest car-free urban areas, and discover its ancient, labyrinthine alleys.

Practical Tips for a Smooth Journey

Cultural Sensitivities:  Respect local customs; dressing modestly in rural areas and during religious festivals shows appreciation for their culture.

Accommodations:  Morocco offers a variety of accommodations—from luxurious riads to budget-friendly guesthouses. Booking ahead in popular tourist spots is advisable.

Cuisine Exploration:  Savor the delightful array of Moroccan dishes. Tagines, couscous, and mint tea are just the beginning of your gastronomic journey.

Safety Measures:  While Morocco is generally safe, practice caution with belongings in crowded areas. Also, familiarize yourself with local driving laws.

Morocco self drive holidays

What are the roads like in Morocco?

Morocco roads! It’s a mixed bag of surprises, with everything from smooth highways to off-road terrain to keep you on your toes. During your self-drive trip on Moroccan roads, will encounter the many police and the Royal Gendarmerie controls. And also hidden officers equipped with speed cameras. Keep an eye on your speed before you fall into these speed traps along the way.

Highways & Main Roads:  Around cities and popular tourist spots, you’ll find well-maintained highways that make cruising a breeze. But, be ready for some unexpected potholes or occasional road repairs that might slow you down a bit.

Off the Beaten Path:  Now, this is where the real adventure begins! Some routes off the main track could be a tad rough and bumpy. Picture dusty trails winding through picturesque landscapes, occasionally throwing in a surprise or two—a stone or two, maybe even a grazing goat crossing your path.

Mountain Roads:  Driving through the Atlas Mountains can be a real treat for the eyes but might test your driving skills. Twisting roads hugging cliffs, offering breathtaking views—but remember, it’s a slow and steady affair on these curvy routes.

Local Traffic & Unexpected Encounters:  In bustling towns or medinas, be prepared for some traffic jams or maneuvering through narrow streets where pedestrians, mopeds, and carts all dance together in delightful chaos.

Navigational Challenges:  Signage might not always be crystal clear, especially in remote areas. Embrace the spirit of adventure by relying on GPS or good old-fashioned asking the locals for guidance.

In recent years, the roads in Morocco have seen major changes with some exciting challenges along the way. It’s all part of your Moroccan adventure!

What do you need to drive in Morocco?

To drive in Morocco you need a valid driver’s license from your home country and you must be 18 years old. Some car rental companies may not rent you the car if your driver’s license is less than one year old. Make sure you have your passport, vehicle registration, rental contract, and insurance papers with you when driving. Oh, and have some cash on hand for tolls and unexpected expenses!

Final Thoughts

A self-drive adventure in Morocco promises an enchanting odyssey filled with diverse landscapes, rich history, and warm hospitality. Embrace the spontaneity of the road, delve into the culture, and let Morocco’s allure captivate your senses.

Pack your curiosity, embark on this road less traveled, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Rajasthan is a well-known heritage destination in India that attracts hordes of domestic and international tourists. The majestic Rajasthan self drive tour is a grand journey to six of the most prominent tourist hotspots within the state, namely Jaipur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Pushkar. This marvellous venture starts in Delhi, from where you move to Jaipur. A guided tour in the Pink City takes you to City Palace, Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar, followed by a trip to the local markets for some souvenir shopping. Chokhi Dhani, and Amber and Jaigarh forts are some other prominent attractions of Jaipur that you visit on this jaunt. From here, drive to Bikaner to witness the breathtaking sights that this city has to offer. The stay here is arranged in the luxurious Gajner Palace heritage hotel. After a visit to Junagarh Fort, you can enjoy a camel safari on the golden sand dunes of the Thar Desert.

Now, the majestic Rajasthan self drive tour leads you to Jaisalmer. Enjoy a camel or Jeep safari, accompanied by a visit to Jaisalmer Fort, before you move to Jodhpur. With most of the buildings painted blue, the city itself looks like an ocean. A visit to the 15 th -century Mehrangarh Fort is also offered on this excursion. Give an adventurous touch to this trip with a zip lining experience. In the sixth phase of the journey, travel to Udaipur to witness the outstanding architecture of City Palace. Explore the city on your own during the next two days before driving to Pushkar. The religious town houses Pushkar Lake and Jagatpita  Brahma  Mandir. This enthralling venture comes to an end after you reach Delhi on the 13 th day.

Day 01: Delhi to Jaipur (270 km | approx. 5 hours) | Sightseeing

Early morning, leave from Delhi and drive towards Jaipur on National Highway 8. On reaching the Pink City, transfer to hotel and check-in. Post lunch enjoy a guided tour of some prominent attractions of this historical place. The excursion first takes you to the royal City Palace. This historical monument displays a wonderful blend of European, Mughal and Rajput architectural styles. Later, the excursion takes you to Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar. Translating into the Palace of Winds, the monument was constructed in the year 1799 so that the women of the royal family could witness the festivities of the city without being seen. After exploring one of the largest observatories of the world, Jantar Mantar, move to the local markets for some souvenir shopping.

In the evening, enjoy folk music performances and familiarise with the culture of this beautiful state. Thereafter, transfer to the hotel and enjoy an overnight stay.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Jaipur

In the morning, go on another sightseeing tour, beginning with an elephant ride to Amber Fort. The monument was built of red sandstone and white marble by Raja Man Singh in the year 1592. Maota Lake, next to this fortress, takes its charm to the next level. After exploring this magnificent complex, move to Jaigarh Fort, which is not far from here. Also known as Victory Fort, this monument features one of the largest cannons in the world.

A visit to Chokhi Dhani, which you undertake in the evening, presents another great opportunity to experience the culture and hospitality of Rajasthan. Afterwards, return to the hotel and enjoy a peaceful sleep.

Day 03: Jaipur to Bikaner (340 km | approx. 5.5 hours)

In this section of the majestic Rajasthan self drive tour, leave Jaipur and start travelling towards Bikaner. The stay, arranged in the luxurious Gajner Palace, is bound to make you feel like a monarch. This lakeside palace was once the hunting resort of the Maharajas under the British Empire. Built with red sandstone, the amazing heritage hotel is spread across 6000 acres in the Thar Desert.

After check-in and lunch, commence a guided tour of the city, and witness the hustle and bustle of the local markets.

Thereafter, retreat to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 04: Sightseeing in Bikaner

This sightseeing tour begins with a trip to Junagarh Fort. Formerly called Chintamani, this late 16 th -century monument houses many temples, and a museum, which features a rich collection of weapons, portraits and royal costumes. Enjoy lunch, and later hop on the back of a camel to take a safari in the expansive Thar Desert. After the camel safari, return to the royal hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 05: Bikaner to Jaisalmer (330 km | approx. 4.5 hours)

In this section of the majestic Rajasthan self drive tour, check-out from the hotel and start heading towards Jaisalmer. With its name, translating into the hill fort of Jaisal, it is often called the Golden City of India. On arrival in the city, transfer to the hotel and check-in. After lunch, take a guided tour through this wonderful destination to witness its rich culture and heritage. After the trip, return to the hotel for dinner and a peaceful sleep.

Day 06: Sightseeing in Jaisalmer

In the morning, travel to Jaisalmer Fort, which was built in the 12 th century. This fortress still has about 3000 people living within its boundaries. After lunch, explore the Thar Desert on a camel or Jeep safari. Thereafter, come back to the hotel for dinner, and then enjoy a rejuvenating overnight stay.

Day 07: Jaisalmer to Jodhpur (285 km | approx. 4.5 hours)

This section of the majestic Rajasthan self drive tour will take you to Jodhpur. Named after its founder, Rao Jodha, it is often called the Blue City, since most of the houses here are painted in this colour. On reaching the destination, transfer to the hotel and check-in. Post lunch let a guide take you on a tour of this historical city. After the venture, return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 08: Sightseeing in Jodhpur

The first destination you visit in the morning is Mehrangarh Fort. Founded by Rao Jodha, the monument features a museum, which has a well-preserved collection of furniture, cannons and musical instruments. The 15th-century fortress sits majestically on a hill and overlooks the city of Jodhpur. Give an adventurous touch to this tour with zip lining, or stroll in the markets of the Blue City for some souvenir shopping. Thereafter, head back to the hotel for dinner and a relaxing sleep.

Day 09: Jodhpur to Udaipur (255 km | approx. 5 hours)

Now, this wonderful experience will transport you to the City of Lakes, Udaipur. Also termed as the Venice of the East, this city is one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in the state of Rajasthan. On arrival in Udaipur, move to the hotel and check-in. After this, explore the city with an expert guide, whom you may ask questions about the local culture and history. This excursion also takes you to the City Palace, a famous place of interest here. The astonishing architecture of the fort complex, exhibiting medieval, Chinese and European styles, is truly an awe-inspiring sight. Lake Pichola in its vicinity takes the charm of the monument to another level. After this excursion, return to the hotel for a revitalising sleep.

Day 10: Rest Day in Udaipur

This stretch of the majestic Rajasthan self drive tour is dedicated to leisure. If willing, then you may embark on a excursion to the various attractions, this city has to offer. Jag Mandir, Jagdish Temple and Monsoon Palace are just a few of those places of interest. Lake Palace, now a heritage hotel, is situated in the middle of Lake Pichola, and it is a treat for the eyes. In the evening, come back to the hotel and rest.

Day 11: Rest Day in Udaipur

The City of Lakes has plenty of attractions to offer, and this is why your leisure and sightseeing in Udaipur can continue. You can utilise this day to visit the places and attractions that have still been out of your reach. This is also a good opportunity to go on a shopping spree in the local markets. Post the experience; enjoy another overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 12: Udaipur to Pushkar (320 km | approx. 5.5 hours)

This amazing excursion now leads you to the religious town of Pushkar. With the namesake lake at its centre, the town is a prominent pilgrim site for devout Hindus. It also features one of the few temples of Lord Brahma in the world. This majestic Rajasthan self drive tour lets you take a dip in the holy Pushkar Lake, and visit Jagatpita  Brahma  Mandir to pay homage to the deity. After the spiritual trip, transfer to the hotel for a revitalising overnight stay.

Day 13: Pushkar to Delhi (400 km | approx. 7 hours)

In the ultimate section of this wonderful trip, start driving from Pushkar, and keep on the road till you reach Delhi. The tour ends when you reach your destination, whereupon you disperse.

Zvenigorod is a beautiful little town situated some 60 km west of Moscow. Its name itself (ringing city) implies the chiming of church bells. No wonder the Zvenigorod coat-of-arms displays a bell, the town’s symbol. A 35-tonne giant, Bolshoi Blagovest (Great Annunciation), cast by the distinguished foundry master Alexandr Grigoryev, enhanced the beauty of the Savva Monastery’s bell-tower until the year 1941. It had no equal in beauty and melodiousness.
