Now take an aerial tour of Hyderabad, as Telangana organises helicopter joyride

Telangana Tourism has announced that it will organise a helicopter joyride of Hyderabad from May 9 to 14.

As a large number of tourists are expected to arrive in the city during summer vacations, the tourism department has decided to organise the joyride from Necklace Road on the banks of Hussain Sagar lake.

Indwell Aviation Pvt Ltd will organise the 10-minute joyride, during which tourists can view Hyderabad from air by hopping onto a helicopter.

According to the department, this is a novel option of viewing landmark tourist spots and other destinations of Hyderabad from over 1,500 feet.

The ride will provide a bird's eye view of Tank bund with Buddha Statue, Lumbini Park, NTR Garden, Birla Mandir, Charminar, Mecca Masjid, High Court, Osmania Hospital, IMAX, Sanjeevaiah Park and Snow World.

Reports add that the company used a Bell 412 chopper, that can seat 12 people, apart from the pilot and co-pilot, and the cost of the tour is Rs 3,500 a ride.

“Every time we organise such rides, we need to get the required permissions from the authorities - the Director-General of Civil Aviation, the Director-General of Police and the district administration, to name a few. That is some job but we have to ensure compliance,” Director-Business Development of Indwell Aviation had earlier told The Hindu .

The first batch of rides were first flagged off in March last year my Municipal and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao along with then Tourism Secretary B Venkatesam.

“Flying is not a privilege of the rich now. The joy ride over Hyderabad proves this. It is within the reach of the common man. We are focusing on reviving Osmansagar, Hussainsagar and the Musi. We have lots of plans. The Buddha Purnima project was taken up in the past. We will take up more such initiatives and develop Sanjeevaiah Park,” KTR had said at the time.

Telangana: Helicopter rides see more bookings during Medaram Jatara

Hyderabad: Twenty enthusiasts paid Rs 3,499 per head for a 10-minute helicopter joy ride over the city on the first day of the heli-tourism service on Tuesday.

The project was launched by the minister K.T. Rama Rao who was airborne along with his colleague Ajmera Chandulal and tourism secretary B.Venkatesam. The heli tour is operated by Indwell Aviation Private Limited in association with the state tourism department.

The ride covers Hussainsagar, Assembly buildings, Birla Mandir, Golconda Fort, Charminar, Salarjung Museum and the High Court. The four-seater helicopter, a Bell 406, operates from a specially made helipad near Jalavihar on Necklace Road.

The tours are operated from 9 am to 5 pm and bookings have to be made in advance. “I feel very happy to be the first tourist to purchase a ticket. This is the first time I had a bird’s eye view of city from a helicopter. The pilot guided us all through,” said Mr Chakradhar Reddy from Karimnagar.

Mr Bapu Rao, another tourist from Karimnagar, said, he was excited to fly in a helicopter for the first time. “The city looked beautiful from above.”

Welcoming the initiative, Mr Rama Rao said the copter ride would add another facet to local tourism and the government’s plan for making Hyderabad a global city.“Flying is not a privilege of the rich now. The joy ride over Hyderabad proves this. It is within the reach of the common man,” he said, adding that the government would take up more such initiatives.

“We are focusing on reviving Osmansagar, Hussainsagar and the Musi,” he said. On Hussainsagar, he said work on diversion of nalas was nearing completion. “We have lots of plans. The Buddha Purnima project was taken up in the past. We will take up more such initiatives and develop Sanjeevaiah Park,” he said.

• In the special cases of slots not being available, feasible alternatives will be provided to the customer, in regards to the customer’s preference. In such cases, a new voucher would be sent via email, consisting of the new travel details.

Cancellation Policy

• Any cancellation made 25 days before the date of departure, would levy 15% of the total tour cost as cancellation charges.
• Any cancellation made within 15-25 days before the date of departure, would levy a 25% of total tour cost as cancellation charges.
• Any cancellation made within 7-15 days before the date of departure, would levy 50% of the total tour cost as cancellation charges.
• Any cancellation made within 0-7 days before the date of departure, would levy 100% of the total tour cost as cancellation charges.
• Due to any restrictions such as sudden government policies or regulations, health hazards, medical emergencies, or unprecedented weather conditions, activities and tours may be nonoperational and be canceled. In cases such as these, operators will attempt to cater to the traveler as an alternate, which is feasible in nature. However, any refund would not be catered.

Refund Policy

• Any refund applicable will be processed within 7 business days.
• Maximum for each flight 6 people (400 kg/880 pounds).
• Anyone who is having more than 100 kg weight has to buy an additional seat.
• At the entrance gate of entry confirmation number needs to be produced.
• The flights are subjected to weather conditions.
• Only during the first two weeks of pregnancy, the pregnant woman can fly.
• According to the change in a traffic control regulation or any unexpected factors, the flight route and duration make a change.
• If any case of flight cancellation, the flights will be rescheduled as per the client earliest convenience
• It is mandatory to bring a photo id or passport along with a valid contact telephone number.
• Children about four years and above are only allowed in helicopter rides in Hyderabad weighing at least 16 kg or more. Infants are not allowed.
• The helicopter company has the right to refuse any person or carriage of any unsafe item or discomfort to the passenger or crew.
• Any footage taken may not be used for commercial purposes.
• Personal cameras for SBI are limited to having lenses of less than 400 mm.
• Booking of the helicopter ride on all days of the week starts between 9 AM to 5 PM.
• The helicopter's root was decided and approved by the air traffic control, which made and change at the last minute without any prior notice.

Helicopter joy rides are affordable for every one

Hyderabad: Heli-tourism service has started its first joy ride over the city on Tuesday. Nearly twenty people have paid Rs 3,499 per head for a 10-minute helicopter ride.

The project was launched by the minister K.T. Rama Rao the IT Minister of Telangana. He inaugurated the helicopter rides at 10 AM at Necklace Road along with his colleague Ajmera Chandulal and tourism secretary B.Venkatesam.

Hyderabad Aerial trip is an initiative by ‘Heli Tourism in Hyderabad’ in collaboration with Indwell Aviation Private Limited. If this initiative receives a good response, the government is planning to start similar services in various places like Nagarjuna Sagar, Warangal, Karimnagar, Nallamalla forest and along Godavari river.

The ride covers Hussainsagar, Assembly buildings, Birla Mandir, Golconda Fort, Charminar, Salarjung Museum and the High Court. The four-seater helicopter, a Bell 406, operates from a specially made helipad near Jalavihar on Necklace Road and the booking starts from 9 am to 5 pm.

Enjoy helicopter ride, have bird’s eyeview of Hyderabad

Hyderabad: You can now take an aerial tour of the city, rich with heritage structures, as Telangana Tourism has announced the launch of a helicopter ride across the city. The helicopter will take the visitor through landmark tourist spots and other destinations in the city of Nizams. The Hyderabad Joy Ride will be open during August 10-15, 2017. The duration of the ride is 10 minutes and the chopper will raise you at a height of 1,500 feet. The ride is organised by Tourism Department in collaboration with Thumby Aviation.

Warangal: The State Tourism Department in association with Thumby Aviation Pvt Ltd is organizing helicopter joy ride for the benefit of devotees who want to visit Medaram Sammakka-Sarakka jatara in Mulugu district, said district tourism officer M Shivaji.

Thumby will operate helicopters from University Arts and Science College’s ground in Hanamkonda city to Medaram tribal shrine in Tadvai mandal from Sunday (Feb 13).

The fare is Rs 19,999 for up and down ride from Hanamkonda to Medaram per head, and Rs 3,700 for aerial view of Medaram per head.
