Beloved Australian rock outfit Ocean Alley are thrilled to announce their 2023 Australian headline tour supported by Winston Surfshirt & Le Shiv!

• Consolidating a massive 18 months of touring and two significant anniversaries – five years since the release of their breakthrough record Chiaroscuro, and 10 years since cult classic EP Yellow Mellow – Ocean Alley will return home for massive shows, with Aussie funk/hip-hop sextet Winston Surfshirt supporting on all headline shows, flanked by psych-pop four-piece Le Shiv and indie-punk phenomenon Seaside on select dates. The tour will visit some of our country’s biggest venues; Hordern Pavilion in Sydney and John Cain Arena in Melbourne.
• Low Altitude Living features the hits ‘Touch Back Down’ - which was nominated for Most Performed Alternative Work at APRA Music Awards of 2023 - ‘Home’, 'Deepest Darkness' and ‘West Coast’ just to name a few album highlights. It debuted at #3 on the ARIA Albums Chart – and #5 on the NZ Top 40 Albums Chart, making it the band’s first album to chart in New Zealand. It was honoured as a triple j Feature Album and saw Rolling Stone praise vocalist Baden Donegal as “a magnetic frontman who delivers a soaring vocal performance of heady croons.”
• Their latest full-length follows the success of 2020’s critically acclaimed Lonely Diamond which also debuted at #3 on the ARIA Albums Chart and #1 on the Vinyl Chart. The concert was great. I actually met the band before the show at a restaurant and they were all super cool. Ruby Waters was a great opener and I really hope to be hearing more from her. They played a great show, and it was really nice in such a small venue to feel actually connected with the band. I got the set list and a pick, and Angus gave me a hug outside afterwards.

I will never get tired. This will never grow old. The venue was amazing but extremely hot once they closed the doors, but never once did that make ANY of the members wavier in their performance. They are amazing, charming and fantastically pleasing. I saw them last year and couldn’t WAIT to see them again. And the YEAR wait (almost to the day, saw them 6/23/18 and this year 6/22/19) was well worth it, and will continue to be. They’re growing as artist at an exponential rate... and you can clearly see why! Love you guys for still playing small venues and keeping it intimate. I will forever be a fan.

Ocean Alley is springing home with a string of headline shows around Australia

They might be fond of some Low Altitude Living but Ocean Alley is putting us on a high with the announcement of their headline tour around the country later this year.

The Garigal/Northern Beaches psych rock collective will be swinging through capital cities in October after a whopping run of shows in Europe and North America.

Update 7/7/2023:  Ocean Alley has added a handful of new shows to the already-stacked tour whipping around the country later this year.

They've tacked on extra dates in Perth and Brisbane, bumping out their tour to stretch across the whole of October.

Ocean Alley will hang out for an extra day at Red Hill Auditorium on October 22 before flicking over to Riverstage on November 9 for a bonus show in Brisbane.

Tickets for the new dates and remaining shows are on sale now, you can find out more over on Ocean Alley's website .

They're also bringing a bunch of mates out for the shows, including the funk-laden  Winston Surfshirt for all dates. Gadigal/Sydney's Le Shiv and Bundjalung/Byron Bay indie-punk outfit Seaside will be jumping on the tour for select dates, too.

For our mates over on the west coast, the tour's stop in Whadjuk Noongar/Perth looks like a right party with Death By Denim , Dulcie and South Summit also joining Ocean Alley on stage.

The big tour kicks off across the ditch in Auckland on September 23 before Ocean Alley's appearance at Wanderer Festival on the NSW south coast.

From there, the tour heads to a hometown show in Gadigal/Sydney then hits stages in Naarm/Melbourne, Whadjuk Noongar/Perth and winds up at Turrbal/Brisbane on November 10.

Ocean alley announce australian headline tour for 2023.

Ocean Alley will return home for 6 massive nights, with Aussie funk/hip-hop sextet Winston Surfshirt supporting on all headline shows, flanked by psych-pop four-piece Le Shiv and indie-punk phenomenon Seaside on select dates.

Fresh from a triumphant return to the stage at Groovin The Moo and Darwin’s BASSINTHEGRASS festival, beloved Australian rock outfit Ocean Alley have just announced a string of Australian headline shows in support of their 2022 album Low Altitude Living , to kick off in October.

The tour will start in Auckland, before the band head to Pambula Beach as part of Wanderer Festival, going on to perform headline dates in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.

Locally, the band will perform at John Cain Arena on October 13, with support from Winston Surfshirt and Le Shiv.

Ocean Alley Announce Headline Tour with Winston Surfshirt

Ocean Alley have announced a headline Australian tour for October and November, joined by fellow Northern Beaches act Winston Surfshirt for the entire run. The headline run will kick off on Saturday, 7th October at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, before moving on to Melbourne’s John Cain Arena on Friday, 13th October.

Ocean Alley – ‘Lapwing’

The tour heads to Perth’s Red Hill Auditorium on Saturday, 21st October before wrapping up at Riverstage in Brisbane on Friday, 10th November. In addition to Winston Surfshirt, Le Shiv , Seaside , Death by Denim , Dulcie and South Summit will also perform on selected dates. Tickets are on sale now.

Ocean Alley will warm up for their headline shows with an appearance at Wanderer Festival in Pambula, on the far north coast of New South Wales. That’s set to take place from Friday, 29th September to Sunday, 1st October, and will also feature the likes of Django Django , The Jungle Giants , Thelma Plum , Spiderbait , Kevin Morby and more.

Ocean Alley released their fourth studio album, Low Altitude Living, in October last year. The follow-up to 2020’s Lonely Diamond was previewed with the singles ‘Deepest Darkness’ and ‘Home’. When announcing the album last year, keyboardist Lach Galbraith said the band’s songwriting had “become more intricate” as they explored new styles on the record. “Pushing each other to try new things, inside and outside of music, is really important for us to keep things fresh.”

Winston Surfshit are currently at the tail end of their own headline tour , having spent much of May playing shows in support of their 2022 album Panna Cotta . That tour will wrap up early next month with a show at Brisbane’s Princess Theatre.

Ocean Alley are stoked to reveal their first national tour of Australia since 2018 winds up on FAC’s South Lawn on Sat 28 May, supported by Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and Supathick . The news follows the release of their latest video Tombstone , and caps off a huge 12 months for the band from the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

Hailing from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Ocean Alley have solidified their position as one of Australia’s most exciting bands. Having surpassed 200 million catalogue streams and with more than 1.5 million monthly Spotify listeners, Ocean Alley continue to captivate audiences worldwide with their infectious blend of psychedelic surf-rock, selling out a slew of shows at home and abroad, plus performing festivals including Falls Festival (AU), Reading & Leeds Festival (UK), BottleRock (US), Sziget (HU) and Bay Dreams (NZ).

Hockey Dad will replace Psychedelic Porn Crumpets on Ocean Alley’s 2022 tour

PPC will still perform on the Perth date of the run

Ocean Alley have announced Hockey Dad as the new main support for their fast-impending national tour, with Psychedelic Porn Crumpets dropping out due to their home state of WA extending its border closure.

The latter band – who announced their new album earlier this week – will still perform with Ocean Alley on the Perth date of the run, where Hockey Dad will not appear. However as an additional result of WA’s tightened entry and exit restrictions, the show has now been pushed back to Saturday May 28 (it was originally scheduled for Monday February 21). 

Hockey Dad will also step away before the tour’s penultimate stop in Adelaide, where Sydney indie-rock outfit Le Shiv will fill their role. Dulcie remains onboard for all 11 dates of the run, opening up each night with a showcase of cuts from their 2021 EP ‘Sake Of Sound’, as well as new single ‘Tell Ur Friends’ (which landed yesterday).

Remaining tickets for Ocean Alley’s tour are on sale now via their website . It comes in support of their recent single ‘Touch Back Down’ , which followed the 2020 album ‘Lonely Diamond’. 

That record landed in June of 2020. In addition to singles ‘Hot Chicken’ , ‘Way Down’ and ‘Tombstone’, the band promoted it with a making-of webseries titled Constructing The Diamond , and followed it up last September with a live-in-studio concert film .

NME gave ‘Lonely Diamond’ a four-star review upon release, with writer Ali Shutler calling it “ambitious [and] progressive but most importantly, fun” and “a monster of a record that manages to inspire excitement at every one of its dizzying turns.”
