কুয়াকাটা সমুদ্র সৈকত

কুয়াকাটা সমুদ্র সৈকতের অবস্থান পটুয়াখালী (Patuakhali) জেলার কলাপাড়া থানার লতাচাপলি ইউনিয়নে। প্রায় ১৮ কিলোমিটার দীর্ঘ এই কুয়াকাটা সমুদ্র সৈকত (Kuakata Sea Beach) থেকে একই সাথে সূর্যোদয় আর সূর্যাস্ত দেখা যায়। এই বৈশিষ্ট কুয়াকাটাকে সকল সমুদ্র সৈকত থেকে অনন্য করেছে। পরিচ্ছন্ন বেলাভূমি, অনিন্দ্য সুন্দর সমুদ্র সৈকত, দিগন্তজোড়া সুনীল আকাশ এবং ম্যানগ্রুভ বন কুয়াকাটাকে দিয়েছে ভিন্ন মাত্রা। পর্যটকদের কাছে কুয়াকাটা সাগরকন্যা হিসেবে পরিচিত।

নদী ও সড়ক পথে ঢাকা থেকে কুয়াকাটা যাওয়া যায়। পদ্মা সেতু চালু হওয়ায় সড়ক পথে ঢাকা থেকে কুয়াকাটা অনেক কম সময়ে এবং সহজে যাওয়া যায়।

ঢাকা থেকে বাসে কু য়াকাটা

ঢাকা থেকে কুয়াকাটার দূরত্ব প্রায় ২৮০ কিলোমিটার। বাসে যেতে সময় লাগবে প্রায় ৬-৭ ঘন্টা। ঢাকার সায়েদাবাদ, আবদুল্লাপুর, আরামবাগ অথবা গাবতলী বাস স্ট্যান্ড থেকে সাকুরা পরিবহন, শ্যামলী, গ্রীনলাইন, ইউরো কোচ, হানিফ, টি আর ট্রাভেলস সহ আরও অনেক পরিবহনের বাস সরাসরি কুয়াকাটা যায়। ঢাকা থেকে কুয়াকাটা নন-এসি বাসের ভাড়া ৭৫০- ৯০০ টাকা এবং এসি বাসের ভাড়া ১১০০-১৬০০ টাকা।

ঢাকা থেকে লঞ্চে কুয়াকাটা

নদী পথে সদরঘাট থেকে সরাসরি কুয়াকাটা পর্যন্ত না যেতে পারলেও বরিশাল অথবা পটুয়াখালি গিয়ে সেখান থেকে বাসে কুয়াকাটা যেতে পারবেন। আপনি যদি লঞ্চ ভ্রমনের অভিজ্ঞতা নিতে চান তাহলে একটু কষ্ট হলেও ভালো একটি লঞ্চে ভ্রমণ আপনার জন্যে আনন্দদায়কই হবে।

পদ্মা সেতু চালু হওয়ায় যাত্রী সংকটের কারনে ঢাকার সদরঘাট থেকে আগের মত ভালো সার্ভিসের লঞ্চ চলাচল করেনা। তাই লঞ্চে যেতে চাইলে আগেই খোজ নিতে হবে আপনার ভ্রমনের দিনে কোন ভালো লঞ্চ চলবে কিনা।

সদরঘাট থেকে প্রতিদিন সন্ধ্যায় পটুয়াখালি যাবার লঞ্চ ছেড়ে যায় এবং সকাল ৭টার দিকে পটুয়াখালি পৌছায়। লঞ্চ ভাড়া ডেক ৪০০-৫০০ টাকা, সিঙ্গেল কেবিন ১৩০০ টাকা, ডাবল কেবিন ২৪০০ টাকা,  ভি আই পি কেবিন ভাড়া ৭০০০ টাকা।

পটুয়াখালী লঞ্চ ঘাট থেকে অটোতে বাস স্ট্যান্ড গিয়ে লোকাল বাসে যেতে হবে কুয়াকাটা। যেতে সময় লাগবে ২ঘন্টার মত, আর বাস ভাড়া ১৫০-১৬০ টাকা।

এছাড়া সদরঘাট থেকে সন্ধ্যার পর বরিশালের উদ্দেশ্যে একাধিক লঞ্চ ছেড়ে ভোরে বরিশাল পৌঁছায়। বরিশাল লঞ্চঘাট থেকে রূপাতলি বাস স্ট্যান্ডে গিয়ে কুয়াকাটা যাবার বাস পাওয়া যায়। বাসে যেতে সময় লাগবে ৩ ঘন্টার মত, বাস ভাড়া ১৮০-২৫০ টাকা।

কুয়াকাটার হোটেল ও রিসোর্ট

কক্সবাজারের মত এত আবাসিক হোটেল রিসোর্ট না থাকলেও কুয়াকাটায় আপনার বাজেট অনুযায়ী হোটেল/রিসোর্ট পেয়ে যাবেন। মোটামুটি বাজেটের হোটেলে থাকতে আপনার খরচ হবে ২০০০-৩০০০ টাকা। কম বাজেটে থাকার জন্যে দুইজনের জন্য রুম পেয়ে যাবেন ১০০০ – ২০০০ টাকায়। বাজেট যদি আপনার সমস্যা না হয় তাহলে চলে যেতে পারেন শিকদার রিসোর্ট এর মত অভিজাত রিসোর্টে।

কুয়াকাটায় খুব ভালো মানের সি-ভিউ হোটেল নেই। তবে জিরো পয়েন্টের বা পাশেই পর্যটক মার্কেটের গলিতে মোটামুটি মানের কিছু সি-ভিউ হোটেল পাবেন। থাকতে খরচ হবে সিজন অনুযায়ী ১৫০০-৩০০০ টাকা।

ছুটির দিন গুলোতে হোটেল রুম পেতে একটু সমস্যা হলেও বাকি সময় কুয়াকাটায় হোটেল রুম সেখানে গিয়েই যাচাই করে নিতে পারবেন। তবে ছুটির দিনে অথবা পরিবার নিয়ে গেলে আগে থেকেই বুকিং করে যাওয়া ভালো হবে।

কোথায় খাবেন

কুয়াকাটায় বেশিরভাগ হোটেলেই নিজস্ব রেস্টুরেন্টে তাদের অতিথিদের খাবারের জন্য ব্যবস্থা করে। এছাড়া এখানকার স্থানীয় রেস্টুরেন্টেও বিভিন্ন রকম দেশীয় খাবার পাওয়া যায়। কুয়াকাটা জিরো পয়েন্টের আশেপাশেই অনেক খাবার হোটেল পেয়ে যাবেন।

কুয়াকাটায় গেলে ফিশ বারবিকিউ এর স্বাদ না নিলে ভুল করবেন। জিরো পয়েন্টের পাশেই ফিশ ফ্রাই মার্কেট। আপনি দরদাম করে পছন্দ মতো সাগরের তাজা মাছ কিনে দিলে আপনার সামনেই বারবিকিউ করে দিবে তারা। এক পাশে সাগরের ঢেউ আর অন্য পাশে খোলা উন্মুক্ত জায়গায় ফিশ বারবিকিউ এর স্বাদ অনেকদিন জিবে লেগে থাকবে আপনার। 

কুয়াকাটার দর্শনীয় স্থান

কুয়াকাটায় শুধু সমুদ্র সৈকতই নয়, এখানে দেখার মতো আছে আরো অনেক দর্শনীয় স্থান। পূর্ব ও পশ্চিমের ঝাউবন, তিন নদীর মোহনা, লেবুর চর, গঙ্গামতির জঙ্গল, লাল কাকড়া দ্বীপও সবুজ অরণ্য উপভোগের সাথে সাথে পাবেন সুন্দরবনের একাংশ দেখার সুযোগ। কিংবা কুয়াকাটার ঐতিহাসিক কুয়া, বৌদ্ধমন্দির কিংবা দুর্গম চর বিজয় অভিযানের জন্যেও কুয়াকাটা বেড়াতে যেতে পারেন। 

শুঁটকি পল্লী: জেলে পল্লীর অবস্থান কুয়াকাটা সমুদ্র সৈকতের পশ্চিম প্রান্তে। এখানে মূলত নভেম্বর থেকে মার্চ মাস পর্যন্ত শুঁটকি তৈরির মৌসুম চলে। সমুদ্র থেকে মাছ ধরে সৈকতের পাশেই শুকিয়ে শুঁটকি তৈরি করা হয়। চাইলে জেলেদের এই কর্মব্যস্ততা দেখে সময় কাটাতে পারেন। আর কম দামে কিনে নিতে পারেন বিভিন্ন ধরণের পছন্দের শুঁটকি।

ক্রাব আইল্যান্ড: কুয়াকাটা সমুদ্র সৈকত ধরে পূর্ব দিকে অনেকটা দূর পর্যন্ত এগিয়ে গেলে ক্রাব আইল্যান্ড বা কাঁকড়ার দ্বীপ খ্যাত জায়গা চোখে পড়ে। এখানে নির্জন সৈকতে ঘুরে বেড়ায় হাজার হাজার লাল কাঁকড়ার দল। ভ্রমণ মৌসুমের সময় অর্থাৎ অক্টোবর থেকে মার্চ মাস পর্যন্ত কুয়াকাট সমুদ্র সৈকত থেকে ক্রাব আইল্যান্ডে যাবার স্পিড বোটে পাওয়া যায়।

গঙ্গামতির জঙ্গল: পূর্ব দিকে গঙ্গামতির খাল পর্যন্ত এসে কুয়াকাটা সমুদ্র সৈকত শেষ হয়েছে। আর এই জায়গা থেকেই গঙ্গামতির জঙ্গল শুরু। বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির গাছপালা ছাড়াও এই জঙ্গলে দেখা মিলে বিভিন্ন রকম পাখি, বন মোরগ-মুরগি, বানর ইত্যাদি পশুপাখির। অনেকের কাছে এই জঙ্গল গজমতির জঙ্গল হিসাবে পরিচিত।

ফাতরার বন: সমুদ্র সৈকতের পশ্চিম দিকে অবস্থিত নদীর অন্য পাড় থেকে ফাতরার বন শুরু। এ বনের রয়েছে সুন্দরবনের প্রায় সকল বৈশিষ্ট। এখানে বন মোরগ, বানর, বুনো শুকর ও নানান পাখি পাওয়া যায়। কুয়াকাটা থেকে ফাতরার বনে যেতে হলে আপনাকে ইঞ্জিন নৌকা ভাড়া করতে হবে।

কুয়াকাটার কুয়া: কুয়াকাটা নামকরণের পেছনে যে ইতিহাস আছে সেই ইতিহাসের সাক্ষী কুয়াটি এখনও আছে। এই কুয়াটি দেখতে হলে আপনাকে যেতে হবে রাখাইনদের বাসস্থল কেরাণিপাড়ায়। এপাড়ায় প্রবেশ করতেই প্রাচীন এ কুয়া দেখতে পাবেন।

কথিত আছে ১৭৮৪ সালে মাতৃভূমি থেকে বিতাড়িত হয়ে রাখাইনরা বঙ্গোপসাগরের তীরে রাঙ্গাবালি দ্বীপে এসে আশ্রয় নেয়। সাগরের লোনা জল ব্যবহারের অনুপযোগী হওয়ায় তারা এখানে মিষ্টি পানির জন্য কূপ খনন করে সে ঠেকে জায়গাটি ধীরে ধীরে কুয়াকাটা নামে পরিচিত হয়ে উঠে।

সীমা বৌদ্ধ মন্দির: কুয়াকাটার প্রাচীন কুয়ার একটু সামনেই সীমা বৌদ্ধ মন্দিরের অবস্থান। কয়েক বছর আগে কাঠের তৈরি এই মন্দির ভেঙে দালান তৈরি করা হয়েছে। এই মন্দিরের মধ্যে রয়েছে প্রায় ৩৭ মন ওজনের অষ্টধাতুর তৈরি একটি প্রাচীন বৌদ্ধ মূর্তি।

কেরানিপাড়া: সীমা বৌদ্ধ মন্দিরের রাস্তা ধরে একটু এগিয়ে গেলেই রাখাইনদের আবাসস্থল কেরানিপাড়া। রাখাইন নারীরা কাপড় বুণনে বেশ দক্ষ এবং তাদের তৈরি শীতের চাদর অনেক আকর্ষণীয়।

মিশ্রিপাড়া বৌদ্ধ মন্দির: কুয়াকাটা সমুদ্র সৈকত থেকে প্রায় আট কিলোমিটার দূরে রাখাইনদের আরেকটি গ্রাম মিশ্রিপাড়ায় বড় একটি বৌদ্ধ মন্দির আছে। জনশ্রুতি আছে এ মন্দিরের ভেতরে উপমাহাদেশের সবচেয়ে বড় বৌদ্ধ মূর্তি রয়েছে।

কুয়াকাটা ট্যুর প্ল্যান

এবার জেনে নেওয়া যাক কিভাবে কুয়াকাটা ঘুরে দেখবেন। আপনার প্ল্যান যদি হয় শুধু সমুদ্র দেখার তাহলে ভ্রমণের পুরোটা সময় জিরো পয়েন্টের আশেপাশে সমুদ্র দেখে ও বীচ একটিভিটি করেই কাটিয়ে দিতে পারবেন। তবে কুয়াকাটা ঘুরতে গেলে আশেপাশের স্থান গুলো ঘুরে না দেখলে আপনার ভ্রমণ পরিপূর্ণ হবেনা। সেক্ষত্রে অন্তত এক রাত থাকার প্ল্যান নিয়ে আসলে সবচেয়ে ভালো হবে। 

কুয়াকাটার জিরো পয়েন্টকে কেন্দ্র করে এর পুর্ব দিকে এবং পশ্চিম দিক মিলিয়ে সব গুলো স্থানের অবস্থান। সুর্যোদয় দেখার সবচেয়ে ভালো স্থান কুয়াকাটার পুর্ব প্রান্তে গঙ্গামতি চরে। তাই সকালটা রাখুন পুর্ব সৈকত ঘুরে আসার জন্যে। আর বিকেলের সময়টুকু রাখুন পশ্চিম সৈকতের পাশের স্থান গুলো দেখতে।

তবে একটা বিষয় মনে রাখবেন, এইখানে প্যাকেজে অনেক স্পটের নাম থাকলেও আদতে তেমন কিছুই নয়। অনেক গুলো স্পট শুধু নামেই। এবং কিছু স্পট কুয়াকাটা জিরো পয়েন্টের সাথেই হাটা দুরত্বে অবস্থিত।

১ম দিন: সকালে হোটেলে চেক ইন। দুপুরে সমুদ্র স্নান করে খাওয়া দাওয়া। দুপুরের পর একটা মোটরসাইকেল ভাড়া করবেন। কুয়াকাটাতে দেখার মত জায়গা আছে প্রায় বিশটি। সব জায়গা দেখতে ১০০০-১৫০০ টাকার মত লাগবে, ১২টি জায়গার জন্য ৬০০ থেকে ৮০০ এবং বাকি ৮টি জায়গার জন্য ৪০০-৬০০ টাকা লাগবে। আর বাইকওয়ালারা বেশি টাকা চাইতে পারে তাই দরদাম করে নিন। বিকালে লেবুর বন, ফিস মার্কেট, শুটকি পল্লী, ঝাউবন ও তিন নদীর মোহনা দেখবেন। চেষ্তিটা করবেন লেবুর বনে সূর্যাস্ত দেখার।

২য় দিন: খুব ভোরে ঐ মোটরসাইকেলওয়ালাই আপনাকে নিয়ে যাবে গংগামতির চর। সুর্য্যদয়, লাল কাকড়ার চর দেখে ফেরার পথে রাখাইন পল্লি, মার্কেট, কুয়া, বৌদ্ধ মন্দির, ২০০ বছরের পুরাতন নৌকা দেখে হোটেলে ফিরবেন। দুপুরে খাবার পর ফাতরার বনে ঘুরে আস্তে পারেন। রাতের গাড়িতে ফিরবেন। লঞ্চে ফিরতে চাইলে অবশ্যইই বিকাল ৫:০০ টার আগে পটুয়াখালি লঞ্চঘাট থাকতে হবে। সেক্ষেত্রে ঐ দিন ফাত্রার বন প্লান থেকে বাদ দিতে হবে। চাইলে বরিশাল হয়েও লঞ্চে ফিরতে পারেন। বরিশাল থেকে ঢাকার শেষ লঞ্চ ছাড়ে রাত ৯:০০ টায়।

Locally known as Sagar Kannya (Daughter of the Sea), Kuakata is a picturesque coastal strand about 30 km in length and 6 km in breadth. Derived from the Bengali word 'Kua' for "well" in association with a well that was dug by early Rakhine settlers on the seashore in their quest to find drinking water after being expelled from Arakan (Myanmar) by the Mughals in 1784, today it is home to Hindu and Buddhist communities. Kuakata holds a myriad of elements from sandy beach and forest to sea and sky, and is known for some outstanding sunrises and sunsets over the Bay of Bengal.

There exists roads between Dhaka and Patuakhali district headquarters. Accessible by road, water or air transport up to Barisal. Then one may travel by road or water to Kuakata or Patuakhali.

Getting in Kuakata is a 2 phase journey. first one is from Dhaka to Barishal. There are launch & bus service available for this journey. The 2nd phase is to travel from Barishal to Kuakata. There are some bus service available in the Barishal Launch Port. These buses render daily trip to Kuakata. This trip takes about 5-6 hours due to bad road condition. In this 2nd phase trip there are 5 Ferries.

Buddhist temples, tribal villages of Rakhain along with their lifestyle and handicrafts at Rakhain Market, and sunrises and sunsets are some things to behold in Kuakata, along with the beach, naturally. Also, you're likely to see multitudes of small lobsters running all over the beach if you go in the early morning. Some other localities of note: Coconut Forest, Jhau Forest, Gongamati Reserved Forest (an evergreen mangrove forest, ancient wells, Ganga Motir Char, Labu Bagan/Lebur Chor, Kakrar Chor.

  • Sunrise & Sunset point on the beach.
  • Jhaubon , alongside the beach.
  • Lemur Char , accessible by Motorcycle & Zip-car.
  • Fatrar Dip , accessible by Boat & Trawler.
  • Misripara - Rakhain Village. It contains a Buddhist Temple which has a statue of Buddha of about 30 feet high, claimed to be the highest in Bangladesh. The road to this village is not good. Motorcycle is the only good choice of transport to visit here.
  • Rakhain Market near the beach, with a bronze Buddha.

Try renting a bike or taking a boat ride, or listening to Baul songs at the beach.

  • Hotel Banani Palace . Located close to the beach, with nice views of sunrise and sunset. Rooms and bathrooms are modern. Tk 800-2500 .

Kuakata is a beach town known for its panoramic sea beach. It is in southeastern Bangladesh and is the number of sizeable tourist destinations in the country. Kuakata beach is a sandy expanse 18 kilometers (11 mi) long and 3 kilometers (1.9 mi) wide. From the beach, one can have an unobstructed view of both sunrise and sunset over the Bay of Bengal.

Kuakata, locally known as Sagar Kannya (Daughter of the Sea) is a rare scenic beauty and tourism attraction on the southernmost tip of Bangladesh. From this place, you can enjoy both sunrise and sunset. Kuakata is truly a virgin beach having a series of coconut trees and sandy beach of blue Bay.

From Dhaka or Jessore you can reach Kuakata directly from Gabtali or Sayedabad bus stand in multiple transport vehicles including BRTC, Druti Paribahan, Sakura Paribahan. You can also rent a car from anywhere. However, after Barisal, you have to cross the Lebukhali ferry to reach Kuakata by road.

From Dhaka Sadarghat, get in the luxury double decker MV Parabat, MV Beach, MV Sundarbans, MV Sampad, MV Prince of Barisal, MV Patarhat, MV Upakul Launch Cabin in the morning to Patuakhali or You can reach the tourist center Kuakata by getting off at Kalapara, adding a rent-a-car and taking a bus on the Patuakhali-Kuakata route. Launches on the mentioned routes from Dhaka leave the launch dock between 5 pm and 6 pm.

Phase 1: Dhaka to Barishal:  It takes around 3 hours to reach Barishal where you can go for lunch. There are many good restaurants in this place.

Phase 2: Barishal to Kuakata:  There are several ways to complete the phase. By the roadways, you can go by bus which will again take almost 2 hours to reach the destination.

By AIR : The nearest airport is in Dhaka. From there you can board a bus to this place. There are several international airlines that you can board. As Dhaka is the capital city of Bangladesh you don’t have to worry about transportation.

Afterwards, it has become a tradition of digging Kua-Well in the neighbourhood of Rakhaine homestead for collection water for drinking purpose and general use.
