10/10 Amazing experience

If you’re thinking about which agency to use, look no further- Ray and Jimmy went well above and beyond and made this a memorable, safe, fun, and professional experience.

Ray is the most knowledgeable guide I’ve ever had in any country for any excursion - during both the Short Inka Trail and the actual tour of Machu Picchu, Ray’s expertise shined through in his ability to give us a detailed background on every aspect of the history, climate, nature, flora, animals.. anything!

Likewise, Ray and Jimmy were truly the friendliest, kindest hosts that I could have imagined our group having.

Thank you both so much and I will definitely book with you again if (when) I come back!

Awesome experience!!

Did the 2 day Inca trail with Ray and Jimmy they were great and knowledgeable. Ray not only guided us along trail to Machu Picchu but also was an excellent photographer and taught us the history. It was a group of 10 and we had a great time. Even everything going on in Peru, we always felt in good hands.

Short Inca Trial (2-Day)

This tour was the perfect experience for our (group of 10) short trip to Peru. The trail was sometimes challenging, but the views and history made it all worth it. Ray and Jimmy were our guides and imparted sooo much knowledge about the history of Peru, Inca, and beyond. I would definitely recommend!

It was perfect! On the first day we had a great time exploring the Sacred Valley and see the main attractions and learn about the history of this beautiful place.

I would definitely recommend the short Inka trail, I think it was the best way to get to know Machu Picchu and the surrounding area. We arrived at Machu Picchu when most of the crowd was gone and it felt really special.

You won’t regret booking with this tour company, especially if Liz Montesinos is your guide. My boyfriend and I did the 4 day Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain (private) tour. The tour covered everything; from transportation, hotels, meals, tickets and entrance fees, to stops at local places we would’ve never known to go or check out. We did a private tour because for us we felt this would help us get the most out of our time and experience in Peru

Best mix of adventure, history and nature: Sacred Valley & Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

4-day trekking option seemed too intense for us, but we still wanted to experience the entrance to Machu Picchu through the ancient Inka trail, so we opted for Orange Nation’s combination of Sacred Valley & Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. I couldn’t be more happy about our decision.

We booked and paid the deposit to Orange Nation / Sam travel for the 4 day Inca Trail and Machu Pichu trip back in 2019. But we couldn't travel in 2020 and 2021 - but the company honoured our agreement and so we came back in 2022.

My girl and i did the Machu Pichu trek tour with Orange Nation. It was seriously the most amazing experience that we'll never forget. Gorgeous views! The long trek was worth the amazing view. The tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. We considered other tours but chose Orange Nation because we liked the idea of smaller groups and this was definitely worth it. I will be using Orange Nation again next year when I come back to Peru!

Wow, what a wonderful trekking experience! My trip to Peru was amazing thanks to this awesome tour that i took with Orange Nation. I did multiple tours with this company. I'm a solo traveler and everyone in my group was always still friendly and did not make me feel left out. I loved going off the beaten track with this company. It's much better to pay extra to go off the path for the quality experience of this amazing guided tour They definitely helped guide us and gave us a quality experience with a small group and paid special attention to each one of us. I highly recommend using Orange Nation for your next tour in Peru!

The Sacred Valley , also known as Urubamba Valley was one of the very important provinces for the Inca civilization in Peru. It was called “Sacred” because of its fertile soil, abundance of water, mild climate, and the sacred river (Urubamba river) that runs through it, which the Inca believed to have special powers and it was related to the milky way.

The Incan Empire built many of its most impressive structures and citadels in the Sacred Valley, including the Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Moray, Chinchero, Machu Picchu, and many other citadels. The valley was also an important agricultural center for the Incan people, as they used the fertile soil, special climate, and terraces to grow crops such as maize, potatoes, quinoa, and fruits, reason of that they built thousands of agricultural terraces along the valley.

The Incans also had a strong connection to nature (mother nature – Pachamama), and they believed that the mountains and rivers of the Sacred Valley were inhabited by powerful spirits and deities, and living in this valley they would be close to their deities. Many of the sites in the Sacred Valley, including Machu Picchu , were considered sacred and used for religious and ceremonial purposes. The Sacred Valley played a significant role in the Incan empire and remains an important cultural and historical site in modern-day Peru.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: sacred valley tour from ollantaytambo or urubamba to cusco, the following “à-la-carte” tours are explored in 1 day starting in ollantaytambo and finishing in cusco.

Sacred Valley of the Incas or Urubamba Valley is a huge valley which encompasses over 100 km/ 63 miles of distance, where the Incan civilization took all the valley as they were conquering to the jungle side of Cusco, this valley offered them a great climate to develop the agriculture, reason of that today the farming terraces are still laying along the valley or adorning any mountain as a patch, as well as, the climate was the main factor to start their palaces and temples along the valley and today those places are the must-see ones while your trip to Cusco and Machu Picchu.

The popular part of Sacred Valley of the Incas is located between Pisac and Ollantaytambo, this part of the valley draws many visitors, a section where Chinchero, Maras salt ponds, Moray, and other Incan ruins are located. The name of Sacred Valley is not from the Incan times, it is part of modern Inca inspired myths, based on the special importance that this valley had in the ancient Incan days. There are endless chances to explore its natural landscapes, ancient ruins, as well as living and ancient cultures.

We have crafted itineraries that might suit perfectly to your timing or places that just appeal to you. These tours are totally customizable, see the options on the following lines.

In fact, we guarantee it, our TripAdvisor reviews say that.

Making genuine and sustainable itineraries often translate to real costs, with a host of responsible travel practices that underpin our prices, here are the reasons why you should go with us!

1. We Focus on Details

2. our safety record is flawless, 3. knowledge and expertise, 4. the smallest groups en route “sacred valley tour from ollantaytambo to cusco” – averaging just 4 travelers, 5. we deliver on our promises.

sacred valley tour from ollantaytambo

6. The Best Fare For The Best Trip

7. you book, you go…don’t worry… we won’t cancel, 8. we are local entrepreneurs, a family enterprise (we are not a gringo company).

Probably you will see that most of the tour operators mention it on their websites that are local tour companies, however, if you research a little deeper you will find out that’s not true, they might be although half of the operation is done from here and another half abroad, they even have NorthAmerican phone number or European phone numbers, which is a clue to find out, we are not against the foreigner companies or half foreign companies, what we are against is that they lie.

9. Responsible Travel

Be a responsible traveller! Let’s make this world a better place for everyone and for everyone that lives in it!  The natural environments that we travel to are fragile and abundant with beautiful culture and traditions that are often reliant on tourism. We have a responsibility as travelers to minimize the impact of our presence, protect what is delicate, and leave a positive influence everywhere we can.

As a locally owned and based Peruvian tour company, we integrate these practices into our in-country operations we are aiming for a style of travel that makes the world a better place for everyone, and for everyone that lives in it. Since our very first days as a tour operator, responsible business has been at the heart of what we do. Peru Summit Adventures is committed not just to treading lightly, but to making a real difference by helping and investing in local communities, education initiatives, environmental conservation projects. These values are not more than just words, they are ingrained in the culture and philosophy of our crew, daily operations of Peru Summit Adventures trips, and at our office too.

Note on the entrance tickets

To visit the historical sites in the Sacred Valley, it is important to purchase an admission partial ticket (Boleto Turistico Parcial) whose cost is PEN 70 Peruvian soles (USD 25 per ticket) which allows you to access four historical sites like Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Moray, and Chinchero (in other words, it is used only for Sacred Valley). This ticket is valid for 2 days. Therefore, in our quotation, this entrance ticket is included. If you take one of the day treks, in which, the historical sites are not part of the itinerary, so the admission ticket will be excluded from the quotation.

If you get planned to visit other historical sites out of Sacred Valley, like the ones located in Cusco, our recommendation is that you need to purchase the general admission ticket (Boleto Turistico General) whose cost is PEN 130 Peruvian Soles (USD 45 per ticket) , this ticket allows you to visit 14 historical sites, which are located in Cusco, Southern part of Cusco, Sacred Valley, and some museums in Cusco city. The ticket is valid for 10 days. The Maras salt ponds ticket is not part of the boleto turistico parcial or boleto turistico general (partial or general ticket), this ticket should be purchased at the entrance of the same place, whose cost is PEN 20 Peruvian soles (about USD 7 per ticket) .

The Sacred Valley of the Incas, also known as Urubamba Valley was one of the most important regions for the Inca civilization in Peru. It was called “Sacred” because of its fertile soil, abundant water, mild climate, and most importantly it derived from the sacred river (Urubamba river) that runs through it, which the Inca believed to have spiritual significance and was related to the milky way. The Sacred Valley was an important agricultural center for the Incan people, as they used the fertile soil, special climate, and terraces to grow the staple crops such as maize, potatoes, quinoa, and some fruits, as a result, they built massive agricultural terraces throughout the valley.

Note on the Itinerary

Although we do our very best to adhere to the schedule listed above, this itinerary is subject to change for numerous reasons beyond our control. Reasons which may include strikes, political issues, local festivals, extreme bad weather, and some areas within the site may be closed at certain hours due to the site regulations which are beyond the reasonable control of Cusco Local Friend and we are not liable for such changes or amendments.

On some occasions, these conditions may demand us to deviate from our original schedule, in which case we will provide the best available alternative options. And we’ll make a great experience of it!

What is the difference between the 3 Touring options ?

1). CLASSIC SACRED VALLEY TOUR: This is a more relaxed guided experience that allows you to explore the two major archaeological sites of Pisac and Ollantaytambo in-depth, with plenty of time at each site to absorb their history.

2). BEST SACRED VALLEY TOUR: This tour focuses mainly on the western side of the Sacred Valley, visiting Chinchero, Moray, Salt Mines, and Ollantaytambo, which are located close to each other, allowing enough time to explore them.

3). ABSOLUTE SACRED VALLEY TOUR: This tour covers both the eastern and western ends of the Sacred Valley, providing travelers with the opportunity to see all the must-see sites of the Valley in one day! However, due to the extended itinerary, this guided tour may feel rushed so if you love exploring the sites with no rush, you can choose either the 1st or 2nd options from above.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the sacred valley worth visiting.

Yes Definitely!  The Sacred Valley is definitely worth visiting. Its stunning natural beauty, rich cultural history, and impressive archaeological sites make it a must-see destination in Peru. Travelers can explore the ruins of Pisac and Ollantaytambo, admire the amazing salt pans of Maras, and experience the traditional way of life in the local communities. The valley also offers a range of outdoor activities such as hiking, rafting, and zip-lining, making it a perfect destination for adventure enthusiasts. Even if it’s just to relax, enjoy the beauty and acclimate at a Sacred Valley hotel, it is definitely worth visiting.  Overall, the Sacred Valley is a unique and fascinating destination that should not be missed.

Is this a private or shared Tour ?

Our guided tours, including the Sacred Valley Tours, are private, which means that you will have a dedicated local tour Guide and transportation exclusively for your group.

What is the "Boleto Turistico" or Tourist Ticket / Pass ?

The Cusco Tourist Ticket, also known as the “Boleto Turistico” is a pass that allows visitors access to various archaeological sites, museums, and other cultural attractions in and around the city of Cusco, including the Sacred Valley. The ticket can be purchased at the entrance gate of the sites and they only accept cash in PEN SOL.

There are different types of tickets available, with the most popular being the “General Tourist Ticket” or “Boleto Turistico General,” which allows access to 16 different sites in and around Cusco, including the famous Inca ruins in the Sacred Valley, such as Pisac, Moray, Chinchero, and Ollantaytambo. If you plan to visit multiple attractions in both Cusco and the Sacred Valley, purchasing the General or Full Cusco Tourist Ticket can be a cost-effective way to gain access to these sites.

Alternatively, the “Partial Tourist Ticket” or “Boleto Turistico Parcial” is another ticket option. Unlike the General Tourist Ticket, this ticket only provides access to a limited number of sites. This ticket may be a good choice for visitors with limited time or those who are primarily interested in specific tourist attractions in the region.

So, if you’re wondering which ticket to purchase for a Sacred Valley Tour, the Partial Tourist Ticket will suit you best for visiting the Sacred Valley sites unless you also plan to visit the sites in Cusco. In that case, it would be best to get the Full Ticket.

What is the Tour cancellation policy ?

  • If cancellation is made  with more than 3 days  minimum notice , we will refund the full amount of your deposit minus the 20% admin fees
  • If cancellation is made within less than 3-day notice, no refund can be given.
  • The strikes and natural disasters are unlikely events that are beyond our control which may force us to change the tour dates or in the worst scenario and if that represents a risk for the safety of our clients, cancel the tour. The strikes are normally announced a couple of weeks in advance so we will let you know in advance in case one is scheduled for that specific tour date and provide alternatives to either change or cancel the tour.

I am staying in Urubamba, can this tour start from Urubamba ?

Yes of course!  We offer private guided tours so we are happy to pick you up from your accommodation in Ollantaytambo or Urubamba. Simply indicate your preferred pickup location on the booking form, and our guided tours will begin from there.

Can you drop us off at Ollantaytambo train station at the end of the tour?

Yes of course! Our guided tours are mainly private so we are able to drop you off at the train station in Ollantaytambo so you can catch your train to Machu Picchu town.

What should I pack for this day trip ?

  • Daypack with personal belongings
  • Sunblock and sunhat
  • Comfortable shoes (running or hiking shoes)
  • Cash in PEN SOL for your Entrance Tickets, souvenirs or any other expenditures
  • Rain gear or rain plastic “poncho”, especially for the rain season (November to April) They can be purchased locally

On the guided walk through the Pisac citadel, you will be able to observe temples, residences, altars, channels, carvings, tunnels/caves and the famous Intihuatana, which means “the hitching post of the sun.” For those who would prefer to spend more time in the market instead of visiting the ruins, let your guide know so he can organise a time and place to pick you up when returning through the market.

Why is my tour more expensive when I pay with a credit card?

When you pay with a credit card or PayPal, there is a 6% service charge added to the total cost of your tour. However, there is no service charge if you pay with cash; for this reason, the total cost of the tour will be higher when you pay with a credit card.

There will be between 25-30 people on this tour.

What is the Tourist Ticket? Is it included?

The Tourist Ticket (or Boleto Turistico) will be necessary to enter the many of the tourist attractions on your City Tour and Sacred Valley Tour. The full ticket costs 130 soles and can be used for entry to fourteen historic and archeological sites in Cusco and the Sacred Valley. It can be purchased at most major sites and is valid for ten days. There is also a partial ticket available for 70 soles, which can be used for entry to a limited selection of sites and is valid for only two days. If you do not want to pay for the Tourist Ticket, you can skip entering these sites; however, we at Inka Trail Backpacker feel that exploring the ruins is worth the money!

STUDENT PRICE

HOW TO ACCESS THE STUDENT PRICE FOR A TOUR TO MACHU PICCHU?

The Peruvian government offers discounts for students on entrance tickets to Machu Picchu. Consequently, in our tours to Machu Picchu, we provide a reduced rate for students. To qualify for this special rate, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Student Age: You must be under 25 years old at the time of your visit to Machu Picchu. This age limit is aimed at benefiting undergraduate students.
  • Material and Format of the Student Card: The card must be a physical plastic document, similar to a credit card, with all the required information printed on it. Cards made of other materials or with information added via stickers or not printed are not accepted.
  • Required Information on the Card: The card must include the following printed information: details of the university, personal information of the student, the student’s photograph, and a validity date not exceeding one year from the date of your visit. For example, if you plan to visit in 2024, the card should not expire before 2025 and must be valid during the visit.
  • Note on the ISIC Card: Although the International Student Identity Card (ISIC) is recognized in many countries, it is not accepted by the Peruvian government for student discounts at Machu Picchu. Just as a passport cannot be replaced by any other type of identification in international procedures, the student card cannot be substituted by an ISIC or any other document for discounts in Peru.

The policy of the Peruvian government is stringent regarding the accreditation of students. It is imperative to present a card that fulfills these criteria to be eligible for student-priced tickets because, upon entering Machu Picchu, you will be required to show the physical student card. If you do not meet these requirements upon arrival at Machu Picchu, there is a significant risk of being denied entry and having to pay the full ticket price, depending on availability. Therefore, ensuring that your student card adheres to Peruvian regulations is crucial before booking your tour to as student Machu Picchu.

  • Access to Waynapicchu: $60 USD
  • Access to Montaña Machupicchu: $60 USD
  • Vistadome Train Upgrade for Return Journey: $35 USD

WAYNAPICCHU: THE MAJESTIC MOUNTAIN OF MACHU PICCHU:   Waynapicchu is the prominent mountain that forms the famous backdrop in the classic photographs of Machu Picchu. It offers a unique hiking experience and panoramic views, but it’s important to know some details before planning your ascent.

  • CHECK AVAILABILITY: Before scheduling your visit to Waynapicchu, it’s essential to verify ticket availability through the official website provided by the Peruvian government: www.machupicchu.gob.pe. With a daily limit of 400 spots, this link enables you to see the real-time ticket availability, helping you make a well-informed decision. While this link is only for checking availability, don’t worry about the purchase; at Machu Picchu Reservations, we handle the entire ticket acquisition process for you. It’s important to note that if the official government page shows that there’s no availability, this applies universally, as both agencies and individual visitors obtain tickets directly from this official source. Therefore, if the site indicates that there are no spots available, unfortunately, no one will have access to tickets for that particular day.
  • LIMITED ACCESS: Access to Waynapicchu is restricted to 400 daily visitors, divided into four groups of 100 people each, with entry times at 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 9 a.m., and 10 a.m. This limitation helps preserve the site and ensures a safer and more enjoyable experience for everyone.
  • RESERVATION ON SACRED VALLEY AND MACHU PICCHU TOUR: If you’re taking the Sacred valley and Machu Picchu tour, we typically book tickets for the 9 or 10 a.m. schedules, allowing you to visit Waynapicchu after your guided tour of Machu Picchu, but if there is not spaces for the later schudle provabli we Will buy the shedule wichi si avalible.
  • TIME FOR ASCENT AND STAY: The climb to Waynapicchu generally takes about an hour. Once at the top, we recommend spending about 30 minutes enjoying the views before starting the approximately 45-minute descent. In total, you will need between 2 to 2.5 hours for the complete experience.
  • VIEWS AND RUINS AT THE SUMMIT: The summit of Waynapicchu offers spectacular panoramic views of Machu Picchu and the surrounding landscape. In addition, you will find ancient Inca constructions, including platforms, houses, and enclosures whose purposes are still a subject of study and admiration.
  • SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS: The trail to Waynapicchu can be steep and challenging in some sections. If you suffer from vertigo or fear of heights, be aware that some parts are abrupt and may require the use of your hands to stabilize yourself. In these cases, you might consider other less demanding routes.
  • UNACCOMPANIED BUT SAFE: Although the visit to Waynapicchu does not include a guide, the area is constantly monitored by cameras and park rangers to ensure the safety of all visitors.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

MONTAÑA MACHU PICCHU: THE ALTERNATIVE PEAK AVAILABLE FOR CLIMBING UPGRADE TO VISTADOME TRAIN: Montaña Machupicchu, which rises to 3080 meters above sea level, is located to the south of the famous Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. To better understand its geographical position, note that the iconic photographs of the Inca citadel are taken from the base of Montaña Machupicchu. It’s essential to distinguish between Montaña Machupicchu and the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu is the renowned archaeological site visible in most photographs and serves as the area’s central attraction, while Montaña Machupicchu is a separate, accessible peak. If you wish to climb Montaña Machupicchu, you must purchase a ticket. This peak offers unique views and a different perspective of the landscape surrounding the historic citadel.

  • CHECK AVAILABILITY: Before scheduling your visit to Montaña Machupicchu, it’s essential to confirm the availability of tickets. You can do this through the official Peruvian government website: www.machupicchu.gob.pe. Each day, only 400 tickets are available: 200 for entry to Montaña Machupicchu between 7 and 8 a.m., and another 200 for entry between 8 and 9 a.m. For those planning to climb this mountain during their Inca Trail tour, we usually purchase tickets for the latter schedule, allowing you to ascend Montaña Machupicchu following your guided tour of the citadel. Booking in advance is highly recommended due to the limited number of spaces. If you’re interested in including this mountain in your Inca Trail tour, it’s advisable to arrange this when you book your Inca Trail to ensure availability.
  • CLIMB AND STAY TIME: The total time for a visit to Machu Picchu Mountain is estimated to be between 3 to 3.5 hours. This includes around 1.5 hours for the ascent, 30 minutes to take in the breathtaking views at the summit, and approximately 1 hour for the descent. The path is broader and not as steep compared to other trails but is predominantly made up of stone steps, showcasing an authentic Inca trail. At the peak, you’re rewarded with stunning vistas of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, and the encompassing landscape of valleys, rivers, and mountains. On clear days, you can also spot the final segment of the Inca Trail.

______________________________________________________________________________________________

UPGRADE TO VISTADOME TRAIN

  • On the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu tour, we include train tickets, usually for standard services such as the Expedition or Voyager trains. These are typical tourist trains, offering comfort, cleanliness, and stunning views of the scenery. However, if you wish to enhance your journey, you can upgrade to the Vistadome train for the trip between Aguas Calientes and Ollantaytambo. The Vistadome features larger windows and a glass dome on the roof, providing an even more panoramic viewing experience. Additionally, the Vistadome offers entertainment shows, such as music and dance. If you’re interested in upgrading to the Vistadome train, there is an additional cost of $35 per person on top of the Inca Trail tour price, offering a more immersive and luxurious journey.

When planning your visit, consider your preferences for weather, activities and crowds.

Best hotels in the Sacred Valley

The Sacred Valley is at a more moderate altitude than Cusco, ranges from 2,700 to 3,400 meters (8,860 to 11,200 ft) above sea level which makes it an ideal place for acclimatization. In addition, the valley has excellent lodging options, including Urubamba. Here are some recommendations for hotels in Urubamba:

  • Tambo del Inka
  • Rio Sagrado Hotel
  • Casa Andina
  • Aranwa Sacred Valley
  • Sonesta Posada Yucay

Super Sacred Valley Tour - Maras Moray Ollantaytambo Tour

Super Sacred Valley Tour or Maras Moray Ollantaytambo Tour takes you to all archaeological sites of Sacred Valley of Incas and culminates with a visit to Maras and farming terraces of Moray .

This full day trip begins with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco. It takes you to Chinchero, Maras, Moray Ollantaytambo and Pisac. To enhance your experience, we will be stopping for a traditional Peruvian lunch at a local restaurant in Urubamba.

Chinchero is a small village near Cusco. It was the summer palace of the Inca King, Tupac Yupanqui. When the Spanish invaded, they demolished the palace and constructed a church on its remains.

Among all villages of Sacred Valley, Chinchero has the most fertile soil.

Knitting is still a craft the locals are popular for. People here have preserved their decades-long traditions till date. This makes it one of the richest villages in traditions and customs in South America.

Moray was a prominent site during the Inca times. It is home to the circular shaped agricultural terrace that somewhat resembles the Roman amphitheatre.

Incas were experimenting with the impact of growth of crops in different weather conditions. Each level of the terrace has a distinct temperature.

Maras is home to over 5000 salt puddles that sit on a hillside. These geometric shaped salt puddles are supplied with natural spring water and are left to evaporate.

Once the water evaporates they scrape out salt crystals. The salt here is somewhat pinkish in colour and has a distinct texture and taste.

Ollantaytambo Inca Ruin

Ollantaytambo is a charismatic village that has held its prominence since Incan rule. The archaeological site here sits on a hill top. The archaeological park Ollantaytambo once served as a military, religious and agricultural centre to Incas.

The name comes from the Quechua word “Ollantay” which was the name of an Inca warrior. His story was saved as an oral tradition, and written as a drama of Antonio Valdez Urubamba priest in the mid-eighteenth century”.

During the Incan civilisation, the village used to be a Tambo. It means a place where the travellers or Chaskis and messengers could get accommodation, food and water. Basically a resting place of travellers in the past.

Now Ollantaytambo is where you will be boarding the train to Aguas Calientes to visit Machu Picchu. It is also the gateway to the trailhead of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

Pisac Andean Market

The town is very colourful every day, the streets fill to overflowing with artisans selling their goods.

Sunday is the best and busiest day to visit. Locals from the nearby villages set up their stall around the main square where they trade vegetables and other products.

Even if you’re not a shopper, the market is worth a visit. It’s a great place to take photos and people-watch.

The quality of the goods can be a little imperfect, and, if you’re looking to get a good quality on any one item, you’re better off in a fine gallery or store in Cusco. On the other hand, the prices are low and it is a great Andean market to buy beautiful souvenirs from Pisac.

Pisac Inca Citadel

It is the second biggest Inca city after Machu Picchu. Pisac is one of the most incredible places in Sacred Valley. The name comes from a very common type of Bird in this area known as PISAQA or Partridge. Because the pre-Columbian city has the shape of an Andean bird representing the local fauna.

Also there is the biggest cemetery of South America, the agricultural terraces, the sundial or Inti-hautana, Qolqas or granaries, water canals, the tunnel and neighbourhoods.

We offer the Super Sacred Valley tour both as a private tour and in small groups. We highly recommend this tour after the Cusco City Tour and before visiting Machu Picchu for a detailed understanding of Inca civilization.
