How much does a Disney cruise really cost?

Megan duBois

Editor's Note

Disney Cruise Line is known for its family-friendly cruises complete with all of your favorite Disney characters, impeccable dining, exciting entertainment and thrilling ports of call. With everything that's included on the sailings, you might be wondering how much a Disney cruise costs — and if you can afford one.

Cruises with Mickey Mouse and his pals range in price depending on many factors such as the embarkation port and destination, departure date, length of the cruise and cabin type you book. No matter which cruise you book, it will be pricey, like any Disney vacation. You'll have to determine what value you put on experiencing the "magic" of Disney.

For cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

To me, it's worth a lot. I've experienced all five ships in the Disney fleet and have sailed seven times to destinations around the Caribbean and the Mediterranean .

Here, I'm sharing how much a Disney cruise costs per ship and itinerary, any extras that are worth the additional fees and how to save money on a Disney cruise.

How much does it cost to go on a Disney cruise?

disney cruise food cost

Let's be honest: A cruise on any Disney ship isn't cheap. Factors like cabin type and category, sail date, destination, length of cruise, traveling party size and if you're on a themed cruise can impact the overall cost. If you're trying to keep your costs lower, your best option is to pick a cruise on an older ship (Disney Wonder, Disney Magic, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy) or pick a shorter cruise length.

The cheapest Disney cruise we found cost $1,000 for an inside cabin for two people on a two-night sailing on Disney Wonder in Australia. That's $250 per person per night.

If you're looking for a cheap Caribbean or Bahamian sailing, consider a three-night Bahamas cruise on Disney Magic starting at $1,500 for an inside cabin for two people. This also equates to $250 per person per day. Add in drinks, specialty dining, souvenirs and other expenses, and you can expect to spend around $2,500 in total.

On a recent sailing on the Disney Dream , my family of three and I spent five nights at sea in a balcony room and paid a grand total of $4,514.06. This total included everything from the cruise fare and pre-night hotel stay to parking and spa services.

Some examples of starting prices for each ship and its major itineraries for an inside cabin or a balcony cabin are listed below so you can get a sense of pricing across the fleet. Prices are based on double occupancy.

Disney Magic

One- to three-night Bahamas: inside cabins, $1,500 to $2,500; balcony cabins, $1,900 to $3,300 Four-night Caribbean and Bahamas: inside cabins, $1,800 to $3,200; balcony cabins, $2,300 to $4,000 Five- to six-night Caribbean and Bahamas: inside cabins, $2,200 to $4,400; balcony cabins, $3,000 to $6,600 Seven-night Caribbean: inside cabins, $2,700 to $3,300; balcony cabins, $3,800 to $4,900

Disney Wonder

Two- to three-night Australia: inside cabins, $1,000 to $2,100; balcony cabins, $1,200 to $2,800 Four-night Australia: inside cabins, $1,700 to $3,000; balcony cabins, $2,200 to $4,000 Seven-night Alaska: inside cabins, $3,300 to $5,000; balcony cabins, $5,900 to $10,500

Disney Dream

Three-night Bahamas: inside cabins, $1,700 to $2,300; balcony cabins, $2,000 to $2,600 Four-night Bahamas: inside cabins, $2,100 to $3,500; balcony cabins, $2,500 to $4,000 Five-night Caribbean: inside cabins, $2,800 to $4,400; balcony cabins, $3,100 to $5,000 Five-night Bahamas: inside cabins, $2,700 to $4,000; balcony cabins, $3,200 to $4,600 Seven-night Europe and Mediterranean: inside cabins $4,400 to $6,800; balcony cabins, $5,200 to $9,500

Disney Fantasy

Four-night Bahamas: inside cabins, $2,100 to $3,000; balcony cabins, $2,400 to $3,400 Five- to six-night Bahamas: inside cabins, $2,700 to $4,400; balcony cabins, $3,200 to $4,900 Seven-night Caribbean: inside cabins, $3,300 to $5,700; balcony cabins, $3,900 to $7,000

Disney Wish

Three-night Bahamas: inside cabins, $2,000 to $3,000; balcony cabins, $2,500 to $3,500 Four-night Bahamas: inside cabins, $2,600 to $4,600; balcony cabins, $3,000 to $5,600

Disney Treasure

The maiden voyage is set for Dec. 21, 2024.

Seven-night Caribbean: inside cabins, $4,200 to $5,800; balcony cabins, $5,200 to $7,000

Where do Disney cruises sail from?

disney cruise food cost

Disney Cruises depart from 15 different ports around the world, but the major ones to think about from the U.S. include:

  • Fort Lauderdale
  • Port Canaveral, Florida
  • Galveston, Texas
  • New Orleans

The major international ports Disney Cruise Line sets sail from include:

  • Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
  • Melbourne, Australia
  • Southampton, England
  • Brisbane, Australia
  • Vancouver (British Columbia), Canada

Depending on the cruise you pick, getting to and from the home port can be easy or take a little longer — and that can impact the total cost of your Disney cruise.

For instance, many people drive to Fort Lauderdale or Port Canaveral if they already live in the southern U.S. Driving can save money versus flying, and you might not have to stay in a pre-cruise hotel if you can drive right to the port.

You will have to pay to park at the port or at a third-party parking lot. While the off-site parking lots are often cheaper, you will need to think about how to get to and from the ship, tipping the porter or driver, plus the added time to get from your car to the ship.

On the other hand, if you are taking a cruise from an international destination or flying to a domestic home port, your costs automatically go up because of flights for your family, a pre-cruise hotel, meals before the sailing, and transportation to the ship and back to the airport.

What's included in the price of a Disney cruise?

disney cruise food cost

You might pay a lot for a Disney cruise, but you get a lot for your money. The cost of a Disney cruise covers your onboard dining and most nonalcoholic drinks, an abundance of entertainment for kids and adults, onboard activities and transportation between cruise ports. Even most entertainment and food on Disney's private island Castaway Cay (and upcoming private island destination Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point) is part of the fare.

Entertainment

Most of the entertainment on board is included in the overall cost of your sailing. On your cruise, you can experience Broadway-quality shows inside the Walt Disney Theater, watch first-run movies from Disney's production companies (like Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars), listen to live music and participate in game shows in the adults-only lounges. Most itineraries feature a deck party with a fireworks show.

Kids can meet and play with their favorite Disney characters and participate in activities like karaoke. Family-friendly sun decks with pools, waterslides, splash zones and wading pools are also included in the cost.

Disney Cruise Line is known for its rotational dining evening dinner service. Families rotate through three onboard restaurants throughout the sailing, and your service team moves with you. Each of the rotational dining options is included in your cruise fare. One of the restaurants will be open for drop-in, sit-down meals during breakfast and lunch as well. Complimentary room service is available 24 hours a day.

On the upper decks, quick-service food stations, soft-serve ice cream and a buffet are available. Every Disney cruise also includes unlimited coffee, tea and soda.

Accommodations

Almost every cabin across the Disney fleet features Disney's distinctive split bathroom concept. One of the bathrooms has a vanity, sink and tub-shower, plus another bathroom with a vanity, sink and toilet. Each room also has a small refrigerator, safe and hair dryer.

disney cruise food cost

Every child ages 3 to 17 will have access to Disney's kids clubs on board. Youngsters ages 3-10 can enjoy Disney's Oceaneer Club and Disney's Oceaneer Lab . Tweens ages 11-14 have access to Edge, and teens ages 14-17 can chill out in Vibe.

Each kids club has dedicated counselors and a host of activities every day. The best way to see the list of activities is to download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app and scroll through the daily agenda. You can flag activities your kids want to attend, so you can get to the kids clubs before they start.

Adult-exclusive activities

Disney cruises are packed with family-friendly programming, but adults can find spaces and events geared just for them in the adult-only nightclubs and lounges on board. Live music, interactive games and shows are only some of the nightly activities.

Additionally, adults have a dedicated pool and hot tub area that includes a bar and coffee shop. (Drinks cost extra, but access is free). For those looking to stay fit while onboard, access to the fitness center is also included.

Castaway Cay

disney cruise food cost

On most Bahamas and Caribbean sailings, you'll stop at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay . At the island, your family can enjoy the family beach or adult-exclusive beach (for those 18 and older).

Use of towels, beach chairs and shade umbrellas are complimentary, as are waterslides and splash zones. Live music and character appearances take place around the island. Kids and teen club activities are available on Castaway Cay — again, at no extra charge. Runners can participate in the Castaway Cay 5K and get a finisher medal.

When it's time to eat, three spots serve an included barbecue lunch, complete with soft-serve ice cream. Coffee, tea and fountain drinks are also included at Castaway Cay.

To get around the island, you can walk or use the complimentary trams.

Are there any extra Disney costs?

Even though many activities, dining options and entertainment are included in the cost of your cruise, you will find things to pay extra for on a Disney cruise. These may or may not be worth it for your family, depending on your budget and interests. Below is a list of things not included in your overall cruise fare.

Some of the cutest Disney activities are also ones that cost extra. Kids who want more time with the Disney characters might be interested in the Royal Court Royal Tea — a tea party with characters for kids ages 3 to 12. According to planDisney (Disney's online resource for vacation-planning tips) , the cost is $220 per child and $69 for anyone 13 and up. Each tea party includes a selection of tea and a two-course meal; every child gets an assortment of gifts.

Kids can also play dress-up and get a full regal or pirate (only available on Pirate Party Nights) makeover at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, found on every Disney ship. Depending on the package you booked for your child, expect to pay $100 to $450 for each makeover.

Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy both have a virtual sports simulator that requires a reservation and a fee. You can play various sports, from football to golf, for either 30- or 60-minute time blocks. Cost varies based on time, sport and number of people playing.

Specialty dining and cocktails

disney cruise food cost

Four specialty dining restaurants are offered across the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Exclusive to Disney Wish (and coming soon to Disney Treasure ) are Enchante and Palo Steakhouse. Expect to pay $60 to $205 plus an 18% auto-gratuity for a meal at Enchante; Palo Steakhouse is $50 for a prix-fixe meal, but an a la carte menu is also available.

On the four other Disney Cruise Line ships, Palo is also $50 for prix-fixe and offers an a la carte menu. An 18% auto-gratuity is also tacked onto your bill.

On Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, Remy is also available, with the dessert experience starting at $65 without the 18% auto-gratuity, while brunch and dinner are $80 and $135 respectively, plus an additional 18% auto-gratuity.

On all ships, themed bars and lounges sling drinks. Because there's no drink package available through Disney Cruise Line, you will have to pay for each drink individually. The planDisney panel says the average drink can range from $6 to $20.

If you're looking for specialty coffee, tea or hot chocolate drinks, look for the Cove Cafe on all ships; there are also specialty counters off of the atrium on Disney Dream, Fantasy and Wish. These drinks cost anywhere from $5 to $8, depending on your order. You can also order alcoholic drinks from the coffee bars, which run the typical cocktail prices.

Outside the Walt Disney Theater or near the movie theaters on board each ship, you'll also smell the buttery goodness of freshly popped popcorn. You can buy the popcorn for an added fee to take into the shows with you. Additionally, there are some specialty popcorn buckets available for purchase on each ship; you can refill them for a discounted price every time you want to munch on the salty snack. (Specialty buckets purchased off the ships at a Disney resort or theme park are not eligible for a discounted popcorn refill.)

Additionally, each ship offers beverage-tasting seminars where you can learn how to make and taste a variety of cocktails in a given category. Seminars can range from $40 to $70 and last about an hour.

While crew gratuities on Disney Cruise Line are not included in the overall cost, some can be prepaid before you step onboard. These include gratuities to your dining room server, assistant server and head server, plus your cabin host. Disney recommends a gratuity of $14.50 per night per person, including infants and children in regular cabins. It's recommended that those in concierge cabins and suites pay $15.50, with the extra going to your cabin assistant host.

Gratuities that are not included can be paid on board. Such gratuities include anything extra you would like to give to your service team, tips on alcoholic beverages in the dining room, adult dining locations, room service and the spa. The concierge lounge team is also not included in prepaid gratuities for concierge guests, and Disney recommends $8 per night per guest.

Keep in mind that an 18% gratuity is automatically added to bar tabs across the ship and for spa services. To make it easy while on the ship, you can charge all your gratuities to your onboard account.

disney cruise food cost

If you want to bring something home from your trip — whether from a port of call or from the onboard shops — you'll want to budget for that extra cost. Souvenirs off the ship can range from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars, depending on what you buy. Be prepared that some shops will only take local currency; purchases at Castaway Cay shops will be charged to your onboard account.

On the ship, easy-to-transport souvenirs included trading pins, magnets and apparel. These can range anywhere from $20 to $75. Other more expensive onboard souvenirs include jewelry, luxury brand purses and wallets, and art.

How do I save money on a Disney cruise?

disney cruise food cost

If you're reeling from sticker shock, know you can find many ways to save money on a Disney cruise. Here are a few of my favorite money-saving tips.

Letting Disney choose your cabin can be a great way to get a deal on the cruise. These are known as guaranteed rates, and they are the cheapest fares in each category. All you have to do is pick your room type, such as inside, ocean view or balcony, and Disney picks which specific room number you get. This works best if you don't care where your room is on the ship.

If you're looking for a room upgrade , but that's not a make-it-or-break-it deal for your family, consider waiting to upgrade your room until you get to the port. If your cruise still has rooms available, you can ask at check-in about a room upgrade for a discount. The cost will be relative to the room type you originally booked and the room type you want to upgrade to. Sometimes, you can even upgrade to a concierge room or a suite, but you will need to get an early port arrival time to potentially score one of those upgrades.

Disney Cruise Line has one of the most generous alcohol policies of any big-ship cruise brand. At the start of your cruise, you can bring up to six cans of beer or two bottles of wine per person over 21 years old. Then, at each port, you can restock and bring the same alcohol allotment per person over 21 onto the ship to store in your room and enjoy. You might find that beer and wine are cheaper in port than on board — a smart way to save on your drinking expenses.

Are Disney cruises cheaper or more expensive than other cruise lines?

disney cruise food cost

Other family-friendly cruise brands include Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line and MSC Cruises. While all of the family-friendly brands have pros and cons, picking the right one for your family can come down to a matter of cost. Disney is almost always the most expensive.

For example, we priced out a three-night weekend cruise departing on the same dates for Disney Wish and Royal Caribbean 's soon-to-debut Utopia of the Seas. We found that Disney was almost $500 more expensive for the same weekend, cabin type and length of sailing. Utopia of the Seas came out to $2,850.10 for two people staying in a balcony cabin, while the Disney Wish cruise, also in a balcony room, cost $3,337.20.

What Disney does best — and why many people choose to cruise with the brand — is it provides a high level of service to families, even those in the least expensive cabins. The crew on Disney ships goes above and beyond to make your vacation easy. I've seen everything from dining staff cutting kids' food and taking children to the bathroom to room hosts ensuring parents know about the parental locks on balcony doors (so kids can't just wander outside without an adult).

The extra amenities that Disney offers — such as Broadway-quality shows, character experiences and larger standard cabins — all bring the overall cruise cost up.

Disney also has a smaller fleet than all its family-friendly competitors, meaning there is less cabin inventory to sell. Plus, its ships generally carry fewer passengers. For example, Disney Wish, Disney's biggest ship, carries 4,000 people at full capacity; Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas can carry 7,600 guests at capacity. The low inventory combined with the high demand for Disney cruises means that Disney can charge higher fares and still fill ships.

Bottom line

Cruise fares with Disney can change based on factors like room type, travel party size and sailing date. The minimum price you can expect to pay for a cruise to the Caribbean or Bahamas starts at $1,500 for an inside cabin for two people on Disney Magic.

Disney Cruise Line includes a variety of dining experiences (including room service), soda, character meet-and-greets and Broadway-caliber entertainment in its fares; it also allows passengers to bring alcohol on board in every port of call. For these reasons, you don't necessarily have to spend much on board to have a fantastic vacation. The cruise can be a good value depending on the extras you choose to add.

The real question is whether you want to spend more on the base cruise fare to immerse yourself in the world of Disney versus paying less for another family-friendly cruise line.

disneycruisecabanas

You will usually board your Disney cruise at around lunchtime. Often the very first thing that people want to do is eat! There are a number of alternatives for your Disney Cruise Embarkation Lunch.

This is pretty much the busiest that you will see the Cabanas buffet for the whole of your cruise. Everyone wants to get their first test of Disney Cruise Food.

disneywondertritonsrestaurant

If you want a sit-down lunch from an a la carte menu this is also offered. On the Fantasy and the Dream you should head to Animator’s Palate if you want the sit-down embarkation lunch.

This is located on Deck 3 Aft of either ship.

On the Disney Wonder, you should go to Triton’s. On the Disney Magic Lumiere’s is the place to be. These restaurants are on Deck 3 of each ship, very close to the place where you will most likely walk on to the ship.

disneywondertianasplace

If you are fortunate enough to travel as a Disney Cruise Concierge Guest your embarkation lunch will be separate from the rest of the ship’s guests.

If you are a sailing Concierge with Disney Cruises you can go to Enchanted Garden on the Disney Dream and Fantasy.

If you are sailing on the Wonder you can go to Tiana’s Place . On the Disney Magic, you can go to Rapunzel’s Royal Table for your embarkation lunch.

You can also dine in the general embarkation lunch location. You can have snacks in the Concierge Lounge. Or you can go to the Cabanas Buffet. You have so many choices of Disney cruise food!

disneycruisefoodallergy

Disney cruise lines are exceptional in handling any food allergies which guests may have. I have sailed when on a Gluten-Free diet and was very well cared for.

When you book your Disney cruise you can ask for it to be noted that you have food allergies.

Items are marked as Gluten Free or Dairy Free on the Disney Cruise menus. However, you should always talk with your server to see if there are any additional menu options.

Your servers will always bring you Gluten-Free Bread if you request it.

disneycruiselinefood

In the Cabanas Buffet, you should always tell a crew member about your food allergy. They will help you and show you the items which are safe for you to eat.

If you have food allergies you can be confident that Disney cruise lines will do all they can to help you.

disneycruise rotational dining

Disney Cruise lines do things slightly differently to every other cruise line. They have what is known as Rotational Dining.

What is Disney Rotational Dining? Each of the Disney Cruise ships has three main restaurants. You will visit each Disney cruise restaurant at least once during your vacation.

disneycruisetianas

The unique element is that you will rotate around the restaurants and visit a different one each night . This is such a brilliant idea.

Not only do you get to experience all the different main dining restaurants on a Disney cruise, and your servers will rotate with you.

This is such a simple idea, but it makes dining on a cruise so much better. You will have the same servers who will get to know your dining preferences.

disneycruisedining

Having the same servers every day means that they will know if you always want a certain drink. It will be waiting for you at your table when you arrive.

Your servers can get to know your dining preferences so that they can recommend the best options for you from the Disney Cruise Menus.

disneycruiseanimatorspalate

Disney servers are particularly brilliant with the kids as well. Don’t be surprised if they cut up their food for them or serve out a Mickey-shaped ketchup portion!

disneycruiseseatingarrrangements

There are two set times for Disney cruise dining in the rotational restaurants. Main seating starts from 5.45 and 6.15pm. Second Seating begins between 8.00 and 8.30 pm.

On most sailings, Main Seating will start at 5.45 pm and Second Seating at 8.15 pm. The later times tend to be on the Alaskan and Mediterranean Disney cruise itineraries.

You can request which of these dining times you want when you book your Disney cruise.

The Main Seating is the most popular of the Disney Cruise dining times. Quite often when you book, you will find that this Main Seating is no longer available to request online.

disneycruisefood

What do you do if you want to change your dining time on a Disney Cruise? If you do not get your first request when you book, there are two things you can do.

The first is to call Disney cruise lines or ask your travel agent to call and request that you are waitlisted for the time that you would prefer.

You can also ask for a specific table size and even request a certain server if you know who you want.

tianasplacedessert

Your Key To The World will tell you which Disney Cruise dining time you have. If it still isn’t what you want when you board the ship, you can ask for it to be changed.

You will see on your Disney Cruise Navigator where the dining staff will be located. Go to that location and ask if it is possible to change your Disney cruise dining time.

disneywonderrestaurants

The Disney cruise dining team will always accommodate your request if they possibly can.

Families with young children particularly like the Main Seating time. It is late for a young child to start to eat at 8.00 pm.

However, Disney has thought of something that will help families who have second dining. The young ones are served first.

There will be members of the Kids Club team waiting in the restaurant at a certain time to take your children to the club once they have finished eating. You can then enjoy the rest of your meal without the children. This service is currently suspended due to covid.

disneywonderdining

I always used to want the Main Dining on a Disney cruise. However, I have recently converted to enjoying the Second Seating.

I enjoy seeing the show before dinner. Your servers also have a little more time to chat with you at Second Seating.

Another advantage of the Second Seating is that you have the later breakfast on your final morning. This means that you can sleep in for a bit longer!

What are the table sizes on a Disney cruise? You do have the chance to request a certain table size.

Whilst it cannot be guaranteed, Disney always does it’s best to accommodate any requests for specific table sizes.

disney cruise table size

The table sizes in the Disney Cruise Restaurants are generally for 4, 6 or 8 people. Usually, Disney will seat you will another family unless you request that you do not want to do this.

It can be a great way to meet people. Disney is great at matching people who have similar interests. Often, if you have children you will be seated with a family with kids of the same age.

However, not everyone wants to share a table. If you would prefer to just be seated with your own party then you can call Disney and have them note this on your special requests. Your Disney Travel Agent can do this for you if you have one.

You can request a table for 2. Every time we have done this there hasn’t been a problem. We have been seated at a table for 4 people, so there are 2 empty spaces.

Disney will also accommodate parties with more than 8 people. They will put tables together so that you can be seated together.

disneycruiserestaurants

On each of the Disney ships, there are three main dining restaurants. These are the restaurants where you will enjoy rotational dining .

All of the Disney Cruise ship restaurants have a theme and many of them have special shows and character appearances. These restaurants have some of the very best Disney Cruise food on the ship.

All of the Disney ships have Animator’s Palate restaurant. This is the only restaurant that is available on all of the Disney ships.

disneyanimatorspalate

I am also betting that the new Disney Cruise Ships which will be launched in 2021, 2022 and 2023 will each have their own Animator’s Palate.

Here we will highlight each of the Disney cruise restaurants so that you can see what to expect on each ship.

Each of the restaurants has its own menu on each Disney ship. You will, however, find some overlap.

For example, all the Animator’s Palate menus are the same whichever ship that you dine on. Royal Court, Royal Palace, and Triton’s also have the same menu.

In addition to the standard menus in each Disney cruise restaurant, they have some special menus which are served on certain itineraries.

For instance, the Alaskan cruises have some special menu items. The longer cruises such as the Panama Canal and the Transatlantic Cruises also have their own special menus.

Another special menu that will be served on all Caribbean, Bahamian and Mexican cruises is the Pirate Night menu.

Star Wars at Sea and Marvel Day at Sea also have special themed menus.

Disneywonderanimatorspalate

Animator’s Palate is the only restaurant that is on all four of the ships. It is one of the most popular (although Tiana’s Place and Rapunzel’s Royal Table are now pretty close in the popularity stakes).

Walt Disney said, “I only hope that we don’t lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse.” Animator’s Palate celebrates Disney’s foundations and celebrates the animated movies of its past and present.

disneywonderanimatorspalate

The first thing that you will notice is the television screens which line the walls of Animator’s Palate.

If you are sailing on the Disney Fantasy or the Disney Dream take some time to walk around the restaurant and look at the numerous shelves of animation memorabilia.

There are two dinner shows in Animator’s Palate. This restaurant is all about getting the diners involved in the immersive experience.

disneydreamanimatorspalate

One show on the Disney Dream and the Fantasy will have you talking with Crush from Finding Nemo.

Yes, he really can hear what you are saying at your table. If you are one of the lucky ones you will get to have a conversation with him during your dinner.

The other Animator’s Palate show tests your drawing skills. You will be given a special piece of paper to draw a character on.

disneyanimatorspalateshow

Make sure you follow the guidelines on the paper so it shows up the best on the screen. You Servers will take the paper and at the end of your meal, your own very individual animation will be brought to life on the screen.

Animator’s Palate is a whole lot of fun. We particularly like it on the Disney Wonder where Mickey Mouse himself makes an appearance.

If you are not on a 7-night sailing you will not get the chance to do both of the shows. Just another reason to always do at least a 7-night cruise on a Disney ship!

disneyenchantedgardenrestaurant

The Disney Cruise Enchanted Garden Restaurant is one of the most stunningly beautiful of all of the rotational dining venues. Enchanted Garden is located on Deck 2 of the Disney Fantasy and the Disney Dream.

The design is modeled after the Gardens of Versailles. The first thing that you will notice as you walk into Enchanted Garden is the seven-foot-tall Mickey fountain which is the centerpiece of the room.

On each side are the much-coveted Enchanted Garden booths. There aren’t many available and they are the most popular seating in Enchanted Garden.

They seat up to four guests. You can add a special request prior to your cruise by calling Disney Cruise Lines.

disneydreamenchantedgarden

The decor is a beautiful combination of greens and whites. The lighting is a very important part of the effect. There are numerous glass flowers that open as the sky becomes darker as you progress through the meal.

Enchanted Garden is one of the most elegant of all the Disney cruise dining venues. Enchanted Garden on the Disney Dream serves breakfast and lunch on select days.

The Disney Fantasy is different as it does not serve breakfast or lunch in Enchanted Garden. It uses Animator’s Palate instead.

Dinner is served in Enchanted Garden every day of your Disney cruise on the Fantasy and the Dream.

Disney Cruise Tiana’s Place

disneywondertianasplace

Tiana’s Place is the newest restaurant on the Disney Wonder. It replaced the much-beloved but rather dated Parrot Cay. Tiana’s Place is probably the best of all the Disney Wonder Restaurants .

The theme is taken from the movie The Princess and The Frog. It is particularly apt of course because Princess Tiana opens her own restaurant in the movie.

tianasplacedinner

The attention to detail is stunning. The table is set with beautiful china wear. It even has a lily pad decoration.

There is plenty of entertainment in Tiana’s Place – just like in the movie. You will get the chance for plenty of quality time with Princess Tiana. She appears with The Crawfish Crooners to sing such favorites as “Dig a Little Deeper”.

tianasplace

Tiana spends most of her time walking around the room and visiting every table. It is a great opportunity to meet Princess Tiana. The whole atmosphere in the restaurant is just one big Madri Gras celebration.

tianasplaceband

The one thing which is not so great about Tiana’s Place is that they do not seem to have set the sound levels correctly. It is loud. So loud it can be really difficult to hear what your tablemates are saying.

Tiana’s Place Menu

tianasplacemenu

The style of the cuisine is, of course, New Orleans.

I particularly like Mama Odie’s Creamy Tomato Soup with chopped Cilantro as an Appetizer. Eudora’s Artichoke Ravioli with Sautéed Spinach, Lemon Butter, Sage and Pecorino Cheese is a favorite entrée of mine.

Disneywondertianasplacemenus

Choosing a dessert is of course easy. It has to be the Beignets!

The Royal Palace is one of the rotational dining restaurants on the Disney Dream.

The inspiration is, of course, the Disney Princesses. The decor is very rich and opulent with lots of deep reds and gold. The carpet is a luxurious blue pattern. All the decor comes together to make a restaurant fit for a Princess and her Prince.

With every Disney rotational dining restaurant, the servers have a different costume. One of my favorites is at the Royal Palace.

The servers are all dressed in an outfit that is reminiscent of the coachmen in Disney’s Cinderella movie.

One of the most enchanting details is the breadbasket which is in the shape of Cinderella’s Carriage. If only they sold these in the Disney store!

disneydreamroyalcourt

This is the almost identical restaurant to the Royal Palace, but it is located on the Disney Dream. The decor is very similar and the menus are the same.

Rapunzel’s Royal Table

This is the newest of the Disney Cruise restaurants. Rapunzel’s Royal Table is located on the Disney Magic. It replaces the short-lived Carioca’s.

After the success and popularity of Tiana’s Place, Disney cruise lines wanted to celebrate another of the Disney Princesses with a themed restaurant on one of their ships.

Rapunzel’s Royal Table is an example of Disney Cruise lines at it’s very best. Imaginative, immersive themed restaurants where you can meet the characters from a popular Disney movie.

One of my very favorite Disney movies is Tangled so this has to be one of my favorite restaurants.

When the Disney Wish launches in 2022 there will be a Frozen-themed restaurant.

Click on and watch the video below to get an idea of just what is on offer at Rapunzel’s Royal Table on the Disney Magic.

The decor is beautiful. There are 240 Wish Lanterns included in this Bavarian Castle-themed restaurant. You will get the chance to sing along with all of your movie favorites such as “I’ve Got. Dream” and the classic “I See the Light”.

You also get to meet your favorite characters Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder. They are joined by the Snuggly Duckling Thugs!

Naming menu items after our favorite characters and movie themes just makes it seem so much better.

Who can resist the Flynn Rider Platter with grilled smoked pork loin served with roasted smoked pork belly, braised red cabbage, fried potato dumpling, and a wine jus? Or the Oktoberfest Lemon and Thyme Roasted Chicken?

Tangled Pasta (Angel Hair — ha!), Oktoberfest Lemon and Thyme Roasted Chicken, Pan-seared Sea Bass Filet, and the Flynn Rider Platter Tangled Pasta (Angel Hair — ha!), Oktoberfest Lemon and Thyme Roasted Chicken, Pan-seared Sea Bass Filet, and the Flynn Rider Platter with grilled smoked pork loin served with roasted smoked pork belly, braised red cabbage, fried potato dumpling, and a wine jus.

Disney Cruise Triton’s Restaurant

disneywondertritonsrestaurant

Triton’s restaurant is exclusively found on the Disney Wonder cruise ship. It is located just off the atrium on Deck 3. It is themed after Ariel The Little Mermaid. The thumbing is subtle and it may take you some time to see all the small details.

Triton’s decor is made to make you feel as though you are under the sea. At the far end of the room, you will see a huge mosaic that depicts Ariel and her father King Triton.

Triton’s serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Triton’s is also the restaurant on the Disney Wonder where you can have an a la carte embarkation lunch as an alternative to the buffet at Cabanas.

You may want to start your day in Triton’s on the Disney Wonder as it has a sit-down breakfast every morning.

disneywonderbreakfastmenu

Triton’s on the Disney Wonder is a beautiful restaurant. Perhaps the most grown-up of all the dining rooms, it has some excellent choices on the dinner menu.

disneywondertritonsmenu

The food at Triton’s is said to be inspired by French cuisine. It shares many dishes with the Royal Court and Royal Palace on the Dream and Fantasy.

On the appetizer menu, you will find escargot, duck confit, and French onion soup.

disneywonderescargot

One of my favorite appetizers in Triton’s on the Disney Wonder is the Iced Lobster and Jumbo Shrimp.

disneywondertritonsappetizer

This picture of the Breaded and Deep Fried Brie shows that sometimes the presentation isn’t great. However, it tastes really good and is one of the things I always look forward to ordering again.

tritonsfood

Disney Wonder Triton’s Entrees include Oven Baked Salmon Royale. The Truffled Cauliflower Puree is excellent.

The French influence can also be seen in the deserts which include creme brûlée, grand mariner soufflé, and brioche and panettone pudding.

disneywondertritonsentree

Triton’s menu has one of my very favorite desserts. This is the Grand Marnier Souffle which is served with Grand Marnier Creme Anglais. I actually think that this is better than many of the Palo dinner deserts.

disneywondersouffle

Disney Cruise Lumiere’s Restaurant

Only Disney Does It

Photo Credit Lumiere’s is exclusive to Disney Magic. It is themed for Beauty and the Beast.

It is interesting to see how much Disney cruise restaurant design has evolved over the years. Triton’s and Lumiere’s are the original restaurants on the Classic Disney Ships.

They were beautifully themed, but do not have the extent of the immersive experience which you now have at Tiana’s Place on the Wonder and Rapunzel’s Royal Table on the Disney Magic.

Lumiere’s serves the embarkation lunch. It also serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day of your cruise.

Make sure that you try Lumiere’s breakfast at least once during your Disney cruise.

tritonsbreakfastdisney

This was the Mornin’ Tug Boat – a blend of strawberries, Bananas, Almonds, Raisin Granola, and Low-fat yogurt.

disneycruisebreakfast

If you are like most of the guests on a Disney cruise you will be looking forward to the food at the buffet. It’s included in the cost of your Disney cruise. There is a lot of choices, it’s good quality and it is all you can possibly eat!

As soon as you board your Disney cruise ship you will be encouraged to visit the buffet for lunch.

As you have seen, there are different sit-down a la carte options available, but most guests immediately head for the buffet as soon as they board a Disney cruise.

disneycruisebuffet

The buffet on all the Disney ships is now called Cabanas. The names used to be different, but now all have been brought under the same name of Cabanas.

The buffet is open for breakfast.lunch and dinner. Remember that if you have any special dietary needs this can be accommodated. Just tell one of the Cast Members at Cabanas and they will help you out.

disneywonderbuffet

There is a huge amount of choice at the buffet. The problem is not finding something to eat. Rather it is not finding too much to eat.

Just be careful as it is very easy to pile on the pounds very quickly no matter how many times you go to the gym onboard!

The buffet used to be self-serve but now Cast Members will serve you from the buffet stations. It is still all you can eat – you can go back as many times as you want!

disneycruisepiratebuffet

There is sometimes a special buffet in Cabanas on Pirate night. Just when you think you really cannot eat anymore, you discover that you really can eat some more buffet food if you try!

In recent times it doesn’t seem to be possible to predict whether the buffet will actually be on your sailing or not.

At the moment this seems to be a thing of the past as Pirate Night is different than it used to be since covid restrictions. Do not rely on their being a buffet as most likely it will not happen.

On a recent sailing of the Disney Wonder, I was told that even the Cast Members never seem to be able to predict when the Pirate Buffet will be held or not. It really is a huge amount of food, at a time when most people really don’t want it.

Every Caribbean, Bahamian and Mexican cruise has Pirate Night. If it is going ahead, the Pirate Buffet will be held in Cabanas from 10.30 until 11.15.

Since covid, there are two fireworks displays, but there isn’t a deck party at the moment.

disneytransatlanticcruise

If you are sailing on a Disney cruise of 7 nights or longer there will be a chance to attend a character breakfast.

If any of you have had a character breakfast in one of the Disney parks you know that this is a great opportunity to meet the Disney characters.

You will also know that a character breakfast in the Disney parks can be an expensive experience. You will be paying around $150 for a family of 4 in the parks.

The wonderful thing about a Disney cruise character breakfast is that it is included in the cost of your cruise .

You do need to know that a Disney cruise character breakfast is included, but you do need to get a ticket so that you can attend the breakfast.

Tickets to the Disney cruise character breakfast are available online in your Cruise Personalizer. As soon as you are able to book activities online, you should go to your Cruise Personalizer and get one of the character breakfast tickets.

If you do not get a ticket before you sail, there may be some available by visiting Guest Services as soon as you board your Disney Cruise.

However, you need to know that these tickets are highly sought after and may not be available. Always get one online before you cruise if you possibly can.

disneypalobrunchordinner

Disney Cruise Palo Restaurant is an adult-only premium dining venue on all of the Disney Cruise ships. You have to be over 18 to dine at Palo.

Palo offers dinner every night of your cruise and Palo Brunch is offered on Sea Days.

You really should indulge in at least one Palo dining experience on your cruise. Both Dinner and Bruch at Palo cost $45 per person. Gratuity is extra.

At Palo Bruch, this includes a glass of sparkling wine or a Mimosa. An extensive wine list is available for both Palo Brunch and Palo Dinner.

disneycruisepalo

Palo Brunch used to be a combination of buffet items and an al la carte menu.

However, since Disney cruises resumed sailing the buffet has not been available. It has been replaced by the Servers bringing anti pasti to your table.

I really hope that this is not a permanent change and that the self-selection buffet is reintroduced.

Below is an example of the fabulous seafood which used to be available.

disneypalobrunch

You can also order from the Disney Palo menu. The entrees are both breakfast and lunch items. You can order as much or as little as you want.

disneypalobrunchmenu

A Disney Cruise Palo Dinner is served a la carte.

disneywonderpalodinnermenu

There are plenty of menu items at Palo dinner to tempt every guest. The first course is always antipasti which is served to you tableside.

disneypalodinner

The service at Palo is exceptional. Somehow the Palo servers know when you need them. And when you don’t.

disneypalochocolate

One of the most popular Palo desserts is the melting chocolate cake. It’s the perfect way to round off your meal at Palo.

Many people, including me, prefer Palo Brunch over Palo dinner. It is a close call as both experiences are special.

disneypalobrunchreview

However, Palo dinner means that you have to miss one of the Rotational Dining experiences. I love the rotational dining restaurants so would prefer not to miss them.

disneymagicpalo

For more on this, you can read our Palo Dinner v Palo Brunch guide.

disneycruiseremy

If you are sailing onboard the Disney Fantasy or the Disney Dream then you will have the opportunity to dine at one of the very best restaurants at sea. Remy is themed after the Pixar movie Ratatouille.

There can’t be many restaurants named after a rat, but Disney always does things slightly differently. Anyone Can Cook may be the theme of the Ratatouille movie.

However, if you dine at Remy you will know that not just anyone can cook to this high a standard!

disnecruiseremy

If any of you have been lucky enough to eat at Victoria and Albert’s in Walt Disney World you will know that Disney restaurants can be exceptional. To achieve this standard at sea is an even greater feat.

The menu as you would expect is French. The menu is created by not one, but two renown chefs. Chef Scott Hunnel of Victoria and Albert’s and advising Chef Arnaud Lallement a 3 Michelin starred acclaimed owner of l’Assiette Champenoise restaurant in France, each create the menu.

The Remy menu changes frequently. The emphasis is on using only the best ingredients which are in season at the time.

Remy is beautifully and very subtle in its Ratatouille theme. If you dine at Remy take some time to look at the themes in the decor.

The chair backs have everyone’s favorite rodent carved into the design.

disneydreamremy

Remy restaurant on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy offers four different dining experiences. These are Remy Champagne Brunch, Remy Dinner, Remy Dessert Experience, and Petites Assiettes de Remy.

Remy Champagne Brunch is a very indulgent experience. Costing $75 per person with an additional $30 if you have the optional champagne pairing, this is not an inexpensive experience.

However, we feel that everyone should experience a Remy Brunch at least once.

disneydreamremywine

You Champagne Brunch will begin with some time spent waiting in the Meridian Bar. This is one of those places that you do not really discover unless you dine in either Palo or Remy.

The Meridian Bar is located between both of the adult dining restaurants on the Fantasy and the Dream. It is the perfect place for a pre-meal drink.

Your Brunch experience then continues when you will be taken into the Remy restaurant with a group of your fellow diners.

You will be served a small plate of amuse bouche and a complimentary glass of champagne. If you want more, you have to add the champagne pairing.

Your server will then show you to your table. You can’t fail to be impressed by the beautiful table setting and the wonderful views of the ocean. There is even a designated stool for you to rest your purse!

The waiter will then talk about the menu selections so that you have the best choices.

disneyremybrunch

Another option in the Remy restaurant is the Remy Dessert Experience. If you enjoy desserts you will love this 5-course dessert menu served with coffee. This Remy experience is $60 per person. The wine pairing adds $25 per person.

Petites Assiettes de Remy is available for a charge of $50 per person and this includes the wine pairing.

For this Remy experience, you combine small plates with a 6-course wine tasting. The Petites Assiettes de Remy is hosted by the Executive Chef and the Sommelier of Remy. It is only available on the first day of your Disney cruise sailing and is held in the early evening.

The main event in this premier Disney Fantasy and Dream restaurant is the Remy dinner. This is available on every day of your cruise.

Remy Dinner a splurge at $125 per person. Add another $105 if you want the wine pairing.

However, dining at Remy is an experience which you really should indulge in at least once in a lifetime.

Disney’s Remy is an exceptional restaurant. Even though the charge seems high it is very reasonable if you compare Remy with the value that a similar standard restaurant has on land.

Disney Cruise Quick Service Snacks

In addition to the restaurants and room service, there are a number of other locations where you can find food on the Disney Cruise ships. One thing is for certain. You will not go short of food on a Disney Cruise!

All of the food is included in the cost of your Disney cruise unless otherwise stated.

This is located on the Pool Deck 9 of the Disney Magic. This is a great new dining venue that serves fresh shawarma. You will also find your classic American favorites of hamburgers and hot dogs.

disneycruisesnacks

This is one of the newest options on the Disney Fantasy. If you have a sweet tooth this will be your favorite place to be. It offers ice cream and sweet treats for an extra charge.

This is the equivalent of Sweet on You but is located on the Disney Dream. Everything is an additional charge, but it sure is tempting!

Flo’s Cafe

Flo’s Cafe is available on the Disney Fantasy and the Disney Dream. This Disney Cars inspired pool deck eatery is home to Luigi’s Pizza, Tow Mater’s Grill and Fillmore’s Favorites. Here you will find burgers including veggie burgers and fish burgers, hot dogs, salads, sandwiches, and pizza.

This is on the Disney Wonder and the Disney Magic. Here you will find pizza. There is always a vegetarian option and a gluten-free pizza is available on request.

No prizes for guessing that idea cream is available here. Self serve soft ice cream is available.

You can order specialty smoothies here for an additional charge. You can even get the famous Dole Whip here for a small fee.

Pete’s Boiler Bites

This is available only on the Disney Wonder Pool Deck 9. Classic American food such as burgers, hot dogs and tacos are available here.

Daisy’s De-Lites

This is one of my favorites on the Disney Wonder and the Disney Magic. It offers salads, sandwiches, fruit, and wraps. It is located on the pool deck just outside Cabanas.

This is unique to the Disney Fantasy and the Disney Dream. This offers smoothies and healthy drinks for an additional charge. It is located just outside the gym and close to the lobby of the spa.

This is located outside the Walt Disney Theater on all of the ships. It is mostly a bar, but it also sells candy and popcorn to watch during the show. They always have really cute refillable popcorn buckets for sale. These can be purchased and then used for discount popcorn for the duration of your cruise.

disneycruisetransatlantic

Another great thing about Disney Cruise Lines is that Room Service is available 24 hours a day. Most of the Room Service Menu is included in the cost of your Disney Cruise.

Although the food is free remember to tip your server. You can do this either in cash or by adding an amount to the check which they will bring you. It will have no charge unless you have ordered one of the items on the Room Service Menu which does have a charge.

disneycruiseroomservice

One thing which we always like to order, particularly for the Sail Away, is the All Hands on Deck platter. This has cheese, crackers, and fruit.

You can order such things as New York Steak Panini with Caramelized Onions and Horseradish or a Tomato, Basil and Mozzarella Panini. The cake of the day is also usually a good option!.

If you want to order breakfast you can fill in the card which you will find in your room and order breakfast for a set time in the morning.

disneycruisecovecafe

This is another one of my favorite places to sit and relax. The Cove Cafe is available on all of the Disney ships in the over 18 adults only section.

disneycruisecovecafe

Cove Cafe charges for specialty coffee and adult beverages. However, there is always a selection of pastries and cakes available for free.

disneycruisepreludes

If you need a late-night snack, Disney has you covered. Disney Cruise food is available late at night in select locations!

On the Disney Magic, you will find late-night snacks in O’Gills pub and the Promenade Lounge. On the Disney Wonder, it is in the Crown and Fin and the Promenade Lounge. Usually, the hours are from 10.45 to 11.30.

If you want a late-night pizza, Pinnochio’s Pizzeria is open on both the Disney Magic and the Wonder from 9.30 until midnight.

On the Disney Dream, the late-night snacks will be located in The District from 10.45 until midnight. On the Fantasy the snacks are found from 10.45 until midnight in La Piazza.

On the Disney Dream and the Fantasy Luigi’s Pizza is open from 9.30 and closes at midnight.

Remember that Room Service is available 24 hours a day if you really need a snack at 2 am!

One of the highlights of your Disney cruise may be a port stop at Disney’s Private Island Castaway Cay . If you are sailing on a Disney Bahamas or Caribbean cruise Castaway Cay will be one of your port stops.

You do not need to go back on to the ship to eat. A barbecue lunch is served on Disney’s Castaway Cay. Food is served from 11.30 until 2.00.

There are three barbecue lunch locations on Disney’s Castaway Cay. Cookies One is usually the least busy and it’s also the closest to the ship. Cookies Too is located closest to the Family Beach on Castaway Cay.

Both Cookies One and Two serve the same food. It is typical barbecue fare of burgers, salads, chicken, fish, hot dogs corn on the cob, fruit, and cookies. Self serve ice cream is also available.

There are soda stations that are free, just like on the Disney ship. If you want an alcoholic beverage there are plenty of bar locations on Castaway Cay.

Remember that if you have food allergies you should talk to your Server the night before your Castaway Cay visit and they will make sure that there is something available for you on Castaway Cay.

Beach chair on Serenity Bay

The third food venue on Castaway Cay is the Serenity Bay BBQ. This is located on the adults-only beach, Serenity Bay .

I prefer this venue but of course, you can only go there if everyone is over the age of 18.

The only place you can get barbecue ribs on Castaway Cay is the Serenity Bay BBQ. I always think that the food tastes a bit better at this location. Possibly because they are catering to fewer people. There isn’t much seating available here but I have never had a problem getting a table.

What’s Included On A Disney Cruise? – Food, Activities, Entertainment – And Things That Cost Extra

If you are considering taking a Disney cruise you may be wondering what is included in the cruise fare.

In this article, we explore everything that is included, and also everything that isn’t – so that you can better plan for your Disney cruise.

Emma Cruises Disney Cruise

Do Disney Cruises Include Food?

All Disney cruises include food in the cruise fare.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included and are served at a variety of venues onboard.

There are additional extras and Speciality Restaurants onboard which come at an additional charge.

It is completely possible to cruise with Disney and not spend any extra money on food.

There is a lot more included in the Disney cruise fare than just food.

Disney are a premium cruise line which includes some things that wouldn’t be included on other cruise lines.

Disney Cruise Line Ships

Disney Dining Options – Main Dining Rooms

Main dining rooms – rotational dining:  .

On all Disney ships, you will find included main dining rooms where your main meals are eaten.

Disney does dining slightly differently from the majority of other cruise lines as they have “Rotational dining.” You eat at a different venue every night.

Disney was a pioneer in the cruise industry when it introduced Rotational Dining and to this day, they remain the only cruise line that does this

What is Rotational Dining on a Disney Cruise?

Put simply, each of Disney’s ships contains three “main dining” restaurants.

Each passenger is assigned a dining rotation for their cruise, along with an early or late seating assignment.

Passengers then move (or rotate) from restaurant to restaurant according to their assigned rotation, with their serving staff following them each night.

On shorter cruises, you might only experience each restaurant once, while on longer cruises you might experience each restaurant multiple times.

Disney Restaurant Themes

Disney’s restaurants are themed across their various ships including:

  • A New Orleans themed “Tiana’s Place” aboard the Disney Wonder which serves Cajun food.
  • A Mardi Gras inspired stage show and music with Disney characters from the Princess and the Frog.

The Disney Magic has a restaurant themed after Disney’s “Tangled.” Rapunzel’s Royal Table features Rapunzel and other characters, as well as an entertaining stage show.

All four of Disney’s ships include a restaurant called Animator’s Palette.

Each of the Animator’s Palette restaurants features a unique show including colour-changing walls, Turtle Talk with Crush, or an animation magic show .

When I went, the restaurant had a black and white theme as we entered, then as we ate, the walls slowly changed colours!

Animations that we had been asked to draw at the start of the meal then appeared, dancing around the walls of the restaurant! I have never seen anything quite like it!

disney cruise food cost

Even some of the more “mundane” Disney restaurants feature Disney theming to make the meal fun for adults and children alike.

Dinner Menus

Menus at the restaurants change nightly, and you can always see what’s on the menu in Disney’s onboard “Daily Navigator” App.

You don’t have to pay for Wi-Fi to use the Disney App. Find out why here:

You Don’t Need to Pay For Wi-Fi To Use a Cruise Line App – Here’s Why

Tip: you can actually order food items off the nightly menus from any of the rotational dining restaurants, even if you’re not dining in that restaurant for the evening.

Repeat cruisers do criticise Disney a bit for not changing their menus often enough across their ships – but many people also say that their favourite menu items keep them coming back cruise after cruise …

All the food is included (you won’t find any upcharges for food on the menu), and you’re free to order as much or as little as you wish.

Food Allergies and Intolerances

Disney is also well known for accommodating regional food needs for families travelling from abroad and has one of the best track records for accommodating customers with food allergies.

It’s not uncommon for the Chef to come out personally to understand a food allergy and ensure that the guest’s needs are being fully met, or for kitchen staff to remake dishes to accommodate allergy needs.

Disney’s food is generally regarded as on par with, and in most cases better than, food on comparable lines.

Disney Dining Options – Other Dining Venues:

Cabanas buffet.

Like other cruise lines, Disney has a buffet that serves breakfast and lunch daily at its “Cabanas” Restaurant.

The buffet offerings, especially at lunch, change daily.   Although some standards like “Mickey Waffles” at breakfast, and chicken fingers and fries at lunch are almost always available.

Emma cruises with Mickey Waffles.

Disney sometimes offers a themed “Midnight” style buffet in conjunction with “Pirate Night” (more about this further down the article) although that is not always the case according to recent reports.

The buffet is not open for dinner, but most nights you can also order a sit-down meal at Cabanas at your own schedule if you can’t make your regular dinner seating.

Casual Dining and Snacks

In addition, Disney has several casual dining options on the pool deck serving burgers, fries, sandwiches, fruit, salads, and pizza.

Casual dining generally closes in the evening, with some options, like pizza, staying open for a late-night snack.

If you’re looking for a snack, Disney also generally puts out some late-night bites in its adult area.

Soft-serve ice cream is available for the majority of the day on the pool deck.

Some of the adult bars also serve a small snack, like nuts (or something similar), with drinks.

In the morning you can head to the Cove Café for free breakfast pastries, and at night you can also grab charcuterie offerings.

Are Drinks Included on a Disney Cruise?

Soft drinks, water, tea, and coffee are available for free at drink stations in Cabanas and on the pool deck all day.

Alcoholic drinks are not included in the cruise fare on a Disney Cruise

disney magic soda included on pool deck

Is Room Service Included on a Disney Cruise?

Room service is included, in your cruise fare – with some exceptions.

Want a Mickey ice cream bar? It’s included. Milk and cookies included ( I preferred Coke and cookies myself! )

Many entrees, salads, sandwiches, and appetizers are also included.

One trick Disney cruisers love is ordering a hot pot of coffee in the evening.   It will generally stay warm until the next morning when you wake up.

Warm milk and cookies at night before bed is also a big fan favourite. (I am happy to take the cookies, but wouldn’t drink warm milk.)

disney cruises room service

Some items are at an “up-charge” but most of the room service menu is included, any time of day. Soda is not free on room service, I ran up to the pool deck and got it free of charge …

Disney Cruise Line – Included Entertainment

Broadway caliber shows.

Disney is known for having high-quality Broadway-style shows.

Generally, the best of these shows are adaptations of Disney favourites – like Aladdin, Frozen, or The Lion King.

The quality of these stage productions, their casts, and the special effects good, compared to singing an dancing shows sometimes found on other lines.

Disney Cruise Line fans love the shows onboard and repeat cruisers never seem to tire of some of the productions.

Disney Cruise Line Tangled Show

Other Entertainment

In addition to these stage shows, Disney also generally has other performers onboard.

In addition to music acts available throughout the ship at various times, especially in adult areas or the main atrium, you can expect to see hypnotists, magicians, jugglers, comedians, and other similar kinds of acts sprinkled throughout a week-long cruise.

Most of the time these acts will perform a family-friendly show, as well as an “adults” show later in the evening in the adult area of the ship.

Family-friendly shows run twice nightly before in coordination with dinner seatings.

Disney Magic Theatre

Special Guests

On longer or unique sailings, generally longer than seven nights, Disney will bring aboard special entertainment offerings.

Those have generally been Broadway stars or Disney celebrities who do special stage shows during the cruise.   These are some truly unique and high-caliber performers.

On a recent 11-Night Southern Caribbean sailing that my wife and I took, we were able to experience two of these performers – Telly Leung (who played Aladdin in Disney’s Broadway Production) and Christina Bianco (a singing impressionist, known as the “girl of 1,000 voices”) Character Meets Brian and Sam, co-hosts of the DCLDuo Podcast (a weekly Disney Cruise Line focused podcast)

Character Meets

Let’s face it, you’re only going to find Mickey, Minnie, and friends on a Disney cruise.

Disney puts serious effort into bringing a lot of great characters on board with each sailing, including a full complement of Disney Princesses.

Unlike trying to meet characters at the Disney parks, queues/lines aboard a Disney ship for character meetings tend to be much shorter and more manageable.

This provides some great photo opportunities with characters at all hours of the day.

In addition, characters are known for wandering the ships, providing even more opportunities for impromptu photos, interactions, and fun.

Seeing Mickey in his running clothes taking a walk around the track is only possible on a Disney cruise!

On longer cruises, Disney also generally offers character breakfasts (usually with Disney Jr. characters), and even a tea experience with the Princesses.

Mickey and Mini welcome guests onboard

Deck Parties, Pirate Night, Fireworks, and Special Days at Sea

Disney also offers several onboard parties featuring Disney characters and fun.   Beyond the sail away party and Mickey’s “See Ya Real Soon” party on the last night, Disney also typically offers a Pirate Night.

Pirate Night is a festive event where the ship is “taken over” by Captain Hook and his crew, while Mickey and friends battle him for control of the boat in a stage show hosted on the pool deck.

Disney Cruise Line Pirates

Offering an opportunity for everyone to get in the spirit and dress up in pirate costumes, Pirate Night is capped off with Disney’s famous fireworks at sea.

If you haven’t seen fireworks off a cruise ship, it’s truly an amazing experience.

(Disney ships are often shadowed by ships from other lines so their passengers can see the fireworks too!)

Themed Sailings

Disney also offers several themed sailings, like Star Wars, Marvel, and Frozen days at sea.

For one day on each sailing, the ship is decorated to match the theme for the day, and loveable Disney characters are replaced with droids, Darth Vader, Storm Troopers, Iron Man, Captain America, Dr. Strange and others.

Holiday sailings also include extra themes and decorations that transform Disney ships for Halloween and Christmas with over-the-top Disney magic, special characters, and costume fun.

Family and Adult Activities

Disney offers several family-friendly and even adult-only entertainment and activities throughout the day.

The “D Lounge” for families, hosts everything from trivia to cooking demonstrations during the day.

You don’t have to lounge by the pool all day if you don’t want to.   You can quickly fill a day with activities for all ages.

At night, the adult area of the ship on Deck 4 comes alive.   You can enjoy some cocktails and chat – while playing games, like Match Your Mate, or dance the night away or chat with new friends you’ve made on board.

One favourite onboard activity for people of all ages is the “Midship Detective Agency” a themed mystery that leverages “themed paintings” and other Disney magic all over the ship to solve one of three themed mysteries involving Mickey and his friends, or the Muppets.

It’s a great way to stay active, and explore parts of the ship you might not otherwise see!

Of course, there are pools.   But on many Disney ships, there are more than one.

All ships have a main pool for kids and families, along with multiple hot tubs, a shallow wading pool for younger kids, and a splash pad area for kids of varying ages.

Disney Cruise Line fans do note, unsurprisingly, that swimming pools can get crowded – especially on sea days – sometimes describing them as “kid soup!”

You’ll also find an adult area with a quiet pool and hot tub area on all ships.

On the Dream class ships, you’ll be able to take advantage of “Satellite Falls” an adults-only pool area at the front of the pool deck near the communications and satellite array.

What’s most impressive about these adult areas is that as soon as you enter them, the din and noise of kids and families dies away.

It feels almost like a cruise within a cruise – which can make Disney a truly fun experience for adults who also want the Disney’s experience and service.

Waterslides

While Disney does not have Go-Kart tracks or Laser Tag, it does have water slides.

Disney Cruise Line Waterslides

On the Dream and Fantasy, that is the Aqua Duck, an easy-going raft-based water slide themed after Donald Duck and his nephews that circles the pool deck for a fun and wet view of the ocean and the ship.

On the Disney Wonder you can experience the slightly more thrilling Twist N’Spout, or on the Magic the AquaDunk, which is probably most easily compared to the Green Thunder slide on Carnival.

Find out which other cruise line have ships with Go Kart Tracks onboard here:

Which Norwegian Ships Have Go Karts Tracks?

A Disney cruise wouldn’t be complete without Disney movies.

Starting in your stateroom, many of the ships are equipped with an on-demand TV system that allows you to access all of your favourite animated and live-action Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars films.

When I sailed on Disney Magic there were many films available on the cabin TV – but unfortunately the TV was old, and finding and selecting your chosen film was almost unmanageable!

You can also watch Disney movies throughout the day and into the evening on “Funnel Vision” a mega-screen that sits behind the ship’s funnel overlooking the main family pool.

The Buena Vista Theater on Decks 4 and 5 also plays recent and new first-run Disney movies throughout Disney cruises.

On some cruises, you’ll even be able to experience the opening night of new Disney films at sea, as DCL will play them at the same time they are opening in theatres .

iMessaging and Disney App

Families can use text messaging built into the onboard Disney Cruise Line app.

Just connect to the ship’s Wi-Fi and you can text with friends and family for free (including fun Disney emojis), get alerts, or browse the ship’s Daily Navigator for fun activities or nightly menus.

Disney includes free wireless iMessaging for iPhones on it’s sailings.

While it is always nice to have a few days at sea away from it all, sometimes you still need to keep in contact with the “real world!” While onboard your Disney Cruise, you will be able to stay in touch through imessage. There is no additional cost for this. Both the sender and receiver must have imessaging for it to work. Please note that only text works, photos will not send.  Disney Cruise Line

Gym and Running Track

If you want to stay healthy on your cruise, Disney has a full gym facility onboard with cardio equipment, free weights, and weight machines, as well as a running track around the outside of the ship on Deck 4.

Promenade deck Disney Magic

The spa’s shower facilities are also available to anyone without a fee.

To learn more about cruise ship gyms, including why you may have to sign a waiver, check out this post:

Do Cruise Ships Have Gyms? Are They Free and Other FAQs

Kids’ Clubs

One of the biggest amenities on a Disney Cruise are the included kids’ clubs.   There are clubs for young kids (the Oceaneer’s Club and Lab), tweens (the Edge), and teenagers (the Vibe).

They include onboard counsellors, lots of fun activities, and various kinds of entertainment like gross science, cooking classes, video games, crafting, or scavenger hunts for older kids.

While many family-friendly cruise lines have kids’ clubs, the quality of Disney’s counsellors are apparently amazing, as is their ability to handle a wide range of kids and interests.

The kids’ clubs are also highly themed to Disney with some having spaces like Woody’s Toy Box, a Millennium Falcon simulator, or Avengers-themed spaces.

Disney Cruise Line Stateroom Guide:

DCL has several categories of staterooms including inside cabins, ocean-view cabins, balcony cabins, and some suites (including Walt and Roy Disney Suites for true Disney fans).

Balcony and ocean-view rooms can come in standard and deluxe/family variants that include more space.

Similarly, you can sail Concierge class on Disney and have access to well-appointed staterooms as well as one-bedroom suites (two-bedroom suites can also be found on the Magic class ships).

The cost of Concierge is sometimes twice as much as a comparable stateroom on DCL – but also includes several additional amenities.

Disney has some of the most spacious staterooms at sea – even in the inside cabins.

The added square footage plays to Disney’s core demographic, families; allowing in some cases families of five to fit comfortably in a single stateroom.

Disney Cruise Line Stateroom

As well from square footage, most Disney staterooms have split bathrooms – with one bathroom containing a bath/shower and sink, and the other containing a second sink and toilet.

Having two sinks can make getting ready for dinner as a family or a couple much easier.

Disney cabins are also known for having lots of space for storage, which again comes in handy for families.

Staterooms are usually cleaned twice per day, with a morning clean-up and a night turn-down complete with chocolates and towel animals.

It is worth remembering that on Disney, a double or queen bed can not be split into two singles. When I cruised with my Mum, she had the bed and I slept on a sofa bed.

What is Not Included on a Disney Cruise?

While a lot is included on a Disney Cruise, not everything is. Here’s a quick look at things that are not included as a part of your cruise fare:

Disney cruises do not include as standard:

  • speciality adult-only dining
  • Some special desserts
  • Alcoholic drinks
  • Tips or gratuities
  • Movie snacks
  • Speciality coffees
  • Personal training
  • Spa treatments
  • Transfers.

Speciality Adult-Only Dining

Speciality Adult Only Dining is available on all Disney cruises at an extra charge.

Paolo Restaurant

Paolo, an Italian-themed restaurant is available on all ships for brunch (on sea days) or dinner for an added fee. At the time of writing, this is $50 per person ( before drinks and gratuities.)

(Platinum level Castaway Club members get a free meal at Paolo once per sailing for themselves and a guest.)

Paolo Brunch is a fan favourite and consists of a mix of a very high-end buffet (featuring caviar, seafood items, Italian meats, cheeses, and desserts and pastries – do not miss the sticky buns.)

With an A la Carte menu, featuring breakfast and Italian fare (pro tip: skip the breakfast items and head straight for the lasagna, chicken parmesan, and flatbread pizzas.)

Remy French Restaurant

Remy is a French restaurant inspired by the movie Ratatouille.

It is a fine-dining experience equivalent to a three-Michelin-starred restaurant.

The Remy Restaurant is available (for a significant additional fee) for champagne brunch, or dinner only aboard the newer Dream class ships.

Remy dining is limited to Guests ages 18 and older. Dinner is $125 per person. Brunch is $75 per person.  Disney Cruise Line

Remy offers a dining experience where diners choose between a French or American menu. They are then treated to a multi-course meal where the service and presentation are rivalled only by the amazing quality of the food itself – Disney Cruise Line .

Although a Remy dinner starts at $125 per person, with wine pairings ($105 per person) and potential up-charges for things like Caviar or Waygu Beef entrees, dinner at Remy can easily run into the $200-$250 per person (or more).

Remy also offers a dessert experience separate from dinner for $60 per person, with an added wine pairing costing $25 per person.

Lastly, Remy has started offering a wine tasting with some small plate accompaniments called “Petites Assiettes de Remy,” costing $50 per person, inclusive of wine.

All adult dining can be reserved in advance, and popular dining options like Paelo Brunch   – a true fan favourite for its price-to-value and food quality – will book up quickly.

If you are not able to book in advance be sure to check for openings once onboard.

Remy Disney Cruise

On the Fantasy it’s called “Sweet on You,” while on the Dream it’s called “Vanellope’s” – after the Disney Princess from the “Wreck-It-Ralph” franchise.

There are similar offerings aboard the Magic and Wonder.   You can also order ice cream treats from these spots to be delivered to your table for a post-dinner treat .

There is also generally a drink special (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) each day of the cruise called the “Drink of the Day.”

There is generally a non-alcoholic kid’s “drink” each night at dinner that is also available for an extra fee.

Disney Cruise Line Guests 21 years and older may bring a maximum of 2 bottles of unopened wine or champagne (no larger than 750 ml) or 6 beers (no larger than 12 ounces) on board at the beginning of the voyage and at each port of call. The internet package options are as follows:

  • “Stay Connected” offers access to select social media sites, such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Pricing starts at $16 a day when purchased for the entire voyage length. Prices are subject to change at any time.
  •  “Basic Surf” includes the “Stay Connected” offerings plus access to the web, email, and voice calling. Pricing starts at $24 a day when purchased for the length of your cruise. Prices are subject to change at any time.
  • “Premium Surf” includes all that is offered in the “Basic Surf” plus video on Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, video calling, and music streaming. Video streaming is not available with this package. Are Excursions Included on a Disney Cruise?

Port Excursions can be booked in advance or while onboard for an additional fee.

Disney offers a wide variety of excursions.

Find out what actually happens if you miss your cruise ship in the article below:

What Actually Happens When You Miss The Cruise Ship?

Are Cabanas on Castaway Cay Included on a Disney Cruise?

Cabanas are highly sought after and can be hard to come by, generally sell out at online check-in to those sailing in Concierge or who are Platinum status in Disney’s cruise loyalty program.

Cabanas at Castaway Cay offer a luxurious experience for adults or families, but only for an added fee ranging from about $399 up to $1249 for a “Grand Family Beach Cabana.”

If you are unable to pre-book a Cabana online, you can ask to have your name added to a waiting list once onboard – but chances are slim of getting one at that point.

Are Port Transfers Included on a Disney Cruise?

Port Transfers to and from the cruise from the Disney resorts or Orlando airport are available via Disney bus transportation for an additional fee, currently around $40 per person each way.

Fees vary for other ports.

If you are part of a large party, private transfers may be much more cost-effective than Disney Transfers . Do your research!

Gifts and Merchandise Aren’t Included in Your Disney Cruise

Onboard Merchandise, it goes without saying, is not included in your cruise fare.

Disney sells a selection of jewellery at the only Tiffany’s outlets you’ll find at sea.

Are Photo Packages Included in a Disney Cruise?

Photo packages and other merchandise can be pre-purchased in advance of the cruise or while onboard.

There is a slight discount for purchasing in advance.

Do Disney Cruises Have Casinos?

Disney Cruise Line has no casinos on board any of their ships. They also don’t have any arcades.

Most other cruise lines encourage gambling in casinos, as it is very lucrative for them.

You will normally find smaller casinos on British cruise ships, as we gamble far less than American or Australian cruisers.

Find out more about cruise ship casinos here:

Can You Gamble on a Cruise at 18? Cruise Line Gambling Guide

Are Gratuities Included in a Disney Cruise?

Gratuities are not included in the Disney cruise fare – unless added on and paid in advance.

When I cruised with Disney, as well as charging daily gratuities, they put tip envelopes in our cabin to try and encourage us to individually tip our waiters too!

As a British person (we don’t have the same tipping culture as in the USA) I found the situation very awkward and embarrassing! Find out more here:

Are Disney Cruises Worth it?

Disney charges a significant premium for its cruises – sometimes thousands more than a comparable cruise on another line.   Whether the premium will be worth it for you or your family will depend on many factors.

If you love all things Disney, you will doubtless love the whole experience.

If you have a “take it or leave it” approach to Disney like me, it probably isn’t worth the extra premium.

Find out what I thought of my Disney Cruise here:

Castaway Cay – Disney’s Private Island

On Caribbean sailings, you’ll also get a stop at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay – Pronounced Castaway Key/Quay – provided it’s not too windy.

The island includes beautiful beaches, fun activities, water slides, a fantastic island-themed barbecue lunch, and, of course, plenty of Disney themes and characters.

Castaway Cay is oft-cited as one of the best experiences on a Disney cruise.   So much so, that Disney cruise enthusiasts often look for coveted “double-dip” cruise opportunities that stop at the island twice.

Disney Cruise Line Castaway Cay

Other Cruise Lines Do Have Private Islands

If Castaway Cay is your only reason for wanting to try a Disney cruise, why not look at the private island resorts offered by other mainstream cruise lines?

  • It is a tiny private island in the Bahamas previously known Little San Salvador Island.
  • This Bahamian island located between the cruise ports of Freeport and Nassau, was formerly Little Stirrup Cay
  • It is located in the Bahamas’ Berry Island chain, 130 nautical miles due east of Fort Lauderdale. It is a 250-acre island.
  • This is a partnership between NCL and the government of Belize, which owns the island. It serves as a private island for Norwegian, Oceania and Regent passengers.
  • A Private beach resort in Haiti. It is used by Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and Azamara.
  •  It is on the island of Eleuthera, Bahamas – located 70 miles east of Nassau

Disney Cruise Cost Pricing Explained

Disney Cruise Cost

Let's start by covering the details of how Disney Cruise costs are calculated between room pricing and cost per person.

Disney Cruise Room Pricing

All Disney Cruise costs are priced based on two adults in the stateroom (room on the ship). This means that one adult traveling with a child (ages 3-12) is the same price as two adults (13 and up) in the room. Children ages 0-2 pay 50% of the child rate.

After the two adult prices, the third and fourth passengers in the stateroom are charged a lower rate. If you are traveling alone, Disney Cruise Line will charge you 100% of the second adult’s cruise fare (not including port fees and taxes) in addition to the full fare for the first adult.

Pricing Per Adult

It is simply impossible to determine exactly how much a person will pay without looking at several different factors. We are going to break these factors on Disney Cruise cost down for you.

Then, we will help you gauge pricing on a budget to pricing with no limits, and everything in between, so that you have an accurate idea of what you can expect to pay for your Disney Cruise itself. Which Disney Cruise Should I Do?

The first couple of factors to consider when deciding to book a Disney Cruise and cost are where you want to go and what ship you want to sail on.

disney cruise food cost

Disney Cruise Ships

Disney currently has 6 signature cruise ships with more on the way.

The newest cruise ship available right now is the Disney Wish, but the Disney Treasure begins sailing in December of 2024, and it is almost time to start booking!

Each Disney ship is decked out from bow to stern in immersive Disney experiences. The experiences are going to differ depending on the ship, where it is sailing to, and if it is a themed expedition or not.

Ships Sailings

  • Disney Magic : Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexico, Panama Canal
  • Disney Wonder : Alaska, Mexico, Caribbean, South Pacific, New Zealand & Australia
  • Disney Dream : Caribbean, Bahamas, Europe, Bermuda, Transatlantic Cruises
  • Disney Fantasy : Caribbean and Bahamas
  • Disney Wish : Bahamas
  • Disney Treasure : Caribbean

Disney Cruise Cost Factors

There are a few factors that will impact the cost of a Disney Cruise like time of year, location of the cruise, plus the Disney Cruise ship chosen.

Time of the year

Disney prices their cruises based on peak seasons. The more in-demand the cruise sailings are, the higher the pricing.

The first peak season is the most expensive. Think about when children are out of school, June – August. There is an increase in demand for ships and sailings, so the pricing also goes up. Alaska, and the Caribbean, are usually priced high during this time. Europe and the Panama Canal are usually only offered during these peak seasons.

Holidays are another popular peak season. The Bahamas and the Caribbean are going to be more expensive during these times because families will want shorter cruises, which are offered to these two locations.

Off-season bookings will be cheaper, but keep in mind, that the weather may not be as cooperative depending upon the location you are sailing to.

When choosing locations for your cruise, a cruise to the more remote destination Alaska is going to cost more than sailing to the Bahamas from Florida.

Europe and the Panama Canal are usually only offered in the summer, which can drive up the price of the cruise.

When deciding on what you want out of your cruise, guests can choose from different night lengths.

Disney currently offers cruises in 1-3, 4, 5-6, 7 8-13, or 14+ lengths. The longer you cruise, the more expensive the cruise is going to be because more amenities are included and paid for in the cruise cost.

Specialty Cruises

Disney offers specialty cruises throughout the year. Each of these specialty cruises is going to include extra events, entertainment, dining specialties, and more that are factored into the higher costs.

Guests can book a Pixar Day at Sea, Marvel Day at Sea, Halloween High Seas, and Holiday-themed cruises.

Disney Cruise cost entertainment

Stateroom type

There are four different types of staterooms guests can book on the cruise ships. A stateroom is the cruise equivalent of your hotel room.

The most luxurious accommodations on the cruise and the most expensive. Each room has a large private verandah (balcony) and premium amenities and services included. Prices for this type of hotel room will be the most expensive out of all rooms on the ship costing upwards of $6,000 for a trip.

The most spacious non-concierge staterooms are in the Verandah category. Each room comes equipped with a private verandah (balcony), some with partial views of the ship and ocean. The space and balcony are worth the price increase if you are sailing on a longer cruise. This category is the second most expensive type of room to choose from and also tends to sell out the quickest. Pricing tends to start around the $3500 total mark for most cruise lengths and destinations.

The oceanview room has more space than an inside room and also includes a porthole or two to be able to see the ocean. This is a great middle price on the cruise where you can still see the ocean passing by, but you don’t have the balcony to walk out on. This type of room falls in the middle pricing category. The cheapest cruises will come in around $2800 total but can go much higher depending on the length and destination.

Disney Cruise inside rooms

The base accommodations feature no outside viewing as the rooms are on the inside of the ship. However, Disney provides a scenic porthole display of different images to make it not feel as claustrophobic. These will be the absolute cheapest rooms due to not having an actual window or balcony. If you want to go on a Disney cruise, but your family is on a strict budget, these rooms will be the cheapest, averaging around the $2,000 – $4,000 range.

Transportation To Port

By far the biggest factor that will vary for each family going on a Disney cruise is the transportation to the Departing Port.

You will need to provide your own flight, take a train, or drive to the port that you are leaving from. This cost is going to vary widely depending on where you live versus where you need to leave from.

We also recommend arriving the day before the cruise is set to depart so there are no delays in boarding the ship at your arrival time. This is going to cost a night at a nearby hotel, which adds to the overall budget for your cruise.

Disney has ports in the following locations:

  • Fort Lauderdale, Florida
  • Port Canaveral, Florida
  • Vancouver, Canada
  • Auckland, New Zealand
  • Barcelona, Spain
  • Honolulu, Hawai’i
  • San Juan, Puerto Rico
  • Melbourne Australia
  • Southampton, England
  • Brisbane, Australia
  • New Orleans, Louisiana
  • Sydney, Australia
  • Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
  • New York, New York
  • San Diego, California
  • Galveston, Texas

Certain cruises only depart from specific locations. You can filter this when you are searching to book your cruise.

When planning your destinations for your cruise, it is helpful to know where you are going to sail from. The majority of the Bahamas and Caribbean cruises are going to leave from the two ports in Florida, but they also depart from Texas. The Alaskan cruises sail from Vancouver, Canada.

The cheapest way to book transportation is to filter the cruises by which port is closest to you and see which destinations are available. Or, you can filter by destination and then see which ports are the closest to you to help keep costs down.

Keep in mind that if you drive to the port, this will be an additional cost to park your car at the port as well. The fee will be nightly similar to an airport.

What is Included in the Disney Cruise Cost Base Price?

A big question is what do I get for the price tag I see on the Disney Cruise Line website?

When booking your Disney Cruise, you are not just paying for a hotel room like many other vacations. You are paying for an all-inclusive Disney Experience . For every Disney Cruise booked, you can expect the following accommodations, activities, and amenities.

Guests can choose from 4 different stateroom types:

  • Concierge – Most expensive and most luxurious

What is Not Included in a Disney Cruise?

While Disney Cruises is great at including a lot of amenities in the total trip cost, there are a few extras that you may want while sailing on your ship.

  • Port Excursions
  • Premium desserts
  • Premium coffee (at the Cove cafe)
  • Meals at the adult-only Palo and Remy
  • Gratuities – can be prepaid
  • Wireless Internet Access
  • Baby Nursery (6 months -3 years)

All of these items should be considered when pricing out your Disney Cruise so that you do not have any unexpected costs.

Menus for restaurants are available on the Disney Cruise Line Website, so you can see if you want to eat somewhere not included in the base price.

Port Excursions are also booked ahead of time, so you can prepay these items and include them in the final cost of your cruise.

Gratuities Explained

On a cruise ship, it is customary to give gratuities in recognition of exceptional service. Disney recommends a gratuity amount of $14.50 USD per night, per stateroom Guest, including infants and children or $15.50 USD per night, per stateroom Guest for concierge and suites.

Pre-Paid Gratuities are distributed to the Crew Members who take care of you in the following roles:

  • Dining room server
  • Dining room assistant server
  • Dining room head server
  • Stateroom host

Easily pre-pay gratuities online to create a carefree, all-inclusive experience by visiting My Reservations in your Disney account and following the prompts for Pre-Paid Gratuities. If you do not pre-pay before boarding the ship, Disney automatically charges your onboard account the suggested gratuity amount. Once on the ship, you can adjust the amount of your Pre-Paid Gratuities by visiting Guest Services prior to the end of your cruise.

Pre-Paid Gratuities do not include the following gratuities, which are either included in the charge or based on your discretion:

  • Extras added to rotational dining meals such as alcoholic beverages
  • Adult dining locations such as Remy, Palo, Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement, which are not part of rotational dining
  • Food or drink in shops and outdoor or poolside eateries
  • Room service
  • Port Adventures
  • Senses Spa & Salon
  • Concierge Lounge Team—Guests staying in Concierge accommodations are recommended a gratuity amount of $8.00 per night, per stateroom Guest
  • Any other additional services
  • An 18% gratuity is automatically added to bar, beverage, wine, deck service tabs and spa services. All gratuities can be charged to your onboard account.

Disney’s new island, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point will have similar amenities to Castaway Cay! We can’t wait to see what the island holds.

Breakdown of Pricing

This section of our article is going to take a look at the specific pricing of specific cruises to help estimate Disney Cruise cost. The three most popular Disney Destinations are the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and Alaska, so that is what pricing we are going to focus on.

Disney Cruise On a Budget

If you really want to go on a Disney Cruise and stick to a budget, the 3-night and 4-night cruises are going to be the best option. Depending on how far from your destination you are traveling, the amount of time on the ship versus in a port will vary. The Bahamas destinations are going to offer more time in ports where Caribbean cruises will be more time on the boat.

The cheapest room option on a cruise is always the interior room. However, these rooms don’t have actual windows and can make a very tight space for a family of four, which we are basing all of our pricing on. If possible, spring for at least an Oceanview room where you are guaranteed at least one actual window.

Another way to stay on budget is to adjust the dates. In the tables below, you will see different dates and different ships will provide cheaper options. Cruises during February, August, and September tend to be cheaper, similarly to a Walt Disney World Vacation, whereas cruises during holiday seasons (Spring Break, Christmas, New Years, Halloween, etc.) are going to be more expensive.

3- Night Bahamian Cruise from Fort Lauderdale

  • 4 Guests – 2 adults, 2 children
  • Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point & Nassau, Bahamas

4 – Night Bahamian Cruise from Fort Lauderdale

4-Night Western Caribbean Cruise from Galveston

  • Sailing to Progreso, Mexico

4- Night Western Caribbean Cruise from New Orleans

  • Sailing to Cozumel, Mexico

5- Night Western Caribbean Cruise from New Orleans

  • Sailing to Cozumel, Mexico & Progreso, Mexico

The cheapest Alaskan cruise is about the price of the Concierge Level for other Disney Cruises.

7 – Night Alaskan Cruise from Vancouver

  • Sailing to Glacier Viewing (Stikine Icecap), Alaska; Skagway, Alaska; Juneau, Alaska; Ketchikan, Alaska

Disney Crusie Cost

Mid-Range Disney Cruise Pricing

A 5 – 6 day cruise is a great mid-price range budget. Typically with these cruises you will have enough time to explore the ship while also getting at least two, if not three days in a port of call to explore your destination.

For the longer 5-6 day cruises, we recommend the oceanview or verandah rooms. To keep the budget down and get to experience more for your money, avoid booking the concierge rooms at these middle price points.

Another great way to spend your money is to book one of the themed cruises. Guests can book the Marvel Day at Sea, a Halloween Cruise, or a Merry Christmas Cruise. The prices are going to be higher for these themed cruises even if they are only 5-6 days long, but you get a lot more special activities.

Disney Cruise Cost Aquamouse

5-Night Western Caribbean Cruise from Galveston

5- Night Western Caribbean Cruise from Fort Lauderdale

  • 4 guests – 2 adults, 2 children
  • Sails to George Town, Grand Cayman & Disney Castaway Cay

Disney Cruise Alaska

No Restrictive Budget Pricing

The longer cruise you book, the more ports you can stop at and the greater chance you have to stretch your days at sea to fully explore all that the ship has to offer.

The longer the cruise, guests can also experience more themed Disney nights and formal nights as well. This can make the cruise an extra special vacation due to all of the extra magic you are receiving.

Our recommendation for rooms on a cruise any longer than 5 days is to book at least a verandah room if not the concierge rooms. This is going to provide the most space for the times when you need to escape from the hustle and bustle of the ship.

In addition to the longer cruise, specialty cruises can also be booked during peak times if you don’t have an incredibly restrictive budget.

7 Night Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point Inaugural Cruise from Port Canaveral

  • 4 Guests, 2 adults, 2 children
  • Sailing to Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point; Nassau, Bahamas; Disney Castaway Cay; Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, 2 Days at Sea

7 – Night Western Caribbean Cruise from New Orleans

  • Sails to Cozumel, Mexico; George Town, Grand Cayman & Falmouth, Jamaica

Disney Cruise Line Discounts

Disney cruises can be expensive, but there are ways to save money.

The best way to save money is to book as soon as you know when you want to sail.

Cruises price rooms by tiers – the earlier you book, the lower the cost.

Special Pricing

Sometimes Disney will offer special pricing for Florida residents, military personnel, travel agents, and cast members.

They may also offer Kids Sail Free to families with children.

Travel Agencies can also offer promotions if you book through them in the form of Shipboard Credit. While on the ship, you can use this credit for spa treatments, merchandise, photos, and more. Be aware these credits expire at the end of your cruise.

Final Thoughts

A Disney Cruise is an exceptionally personal vacation that allows your family to customize the trip that fits what you want and need. With each ship featuring new shows, themed restaurants, amazing kid areas, and specialty adult-only sections, there is a multitude of opportunities that a Disney Cruise ship offers for a vacation – not to mention the amazing destinations.

Unfortunately, because Disney provides so many different ships and opportunities, it is difficult to narrow down the exact price that a cruise will cost your family. One thing for sure is that you can't put a price on the magical memories that will be made on your Disney Cruise vacation.

Seven Things That Cost Extra on Disney Cruise Line (and How to Avoid Those Costs)

When you plan a Disney Cruise Line voyage, it’s possible to experience the entirety of your sailing for very close to the price you paid when booking. Your cruise price includes your stateroom accommodations, lots of food, lots of entertainment, and even childcare for most ages. But it wouldn’t be Disney if they’re weren’t many (many, many, many) opportunities to “plus up” you vacation – adding extras to make your trip fancier, flashier, or more indulgent. But it’s more than possible to have a fabulous Disney Cruise vacation without spending extra on any of these embellishments.

disney cruise food cost

Here are seven things that cost extra on Disney Cruise Line – and ways to circumvent those cost if you want to keep your budget in check.

1. Alcohol.

You will be presented with opportunities to imbibe at every turn: beer stands by the pool deck, wine packages at dinner, bars in the main thoroughfares, tasting classes, roaming bartenders on the beach at Castaway Cay. Beers starts at about $7 per serving, glasses of wine start at about $8, and cocktails start at about $10 – with prices rising to multiples of this for special pours.

There is no imperative to drink, plenty of teetotalers cruise every day. But if you do want to partake and also want to keep your budget in check, feel free to bring your own booze on board. Each adult (21+) may bring up to 2 bottles of unopened wine or champagne (no larger than 750 ml) or 6 beers (no larger than 12 ounces) on board at the beginning of the voyage AND at each port of call. These beverages must be packed in carry-on (not checked) luggage.

There are a few rules about where you can consume your personal alcohol on the ship, but if you plan to drink a fair amount, you can reap substantial savings by bringing your own.

2. Shore excursions.

disney cruise food cost

Shore excursions (in Disney-speak, port adventures) are planned activities off the ship. In various ports, these might include cultural exploration like museum tours, animal experiences like dolphins encounters, sporty activities like hiking or kayaking, or more. These are nice, but can add anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars, per person, per excursion, depending on the activity.

To save money, you have two alternative. First, tour the ports on your own. Nearly every DCL port stop has access to shuttles or taxis that will bring you into the nearest town where you can explore at your own pace. Or second, arrange for a non-Disney port tour. Many independent providers offer excursions similar to Disney’s, often at a lower cost.

3. Movie or theater snacks.

Preludes snack bar exists on the theater level of all five Disney ships. They sell snacks such as popcorn, candy, and sodas, all for an upcharge. But that’s not the only food you’re allowed to bring into the theater.

Before your show, head up to the pool deck, grab a free soda and some fries or chickens nuggets and you have your nosh for no fee.

4. Adult Dining.

Each Disney Cruise Line ship has one or two restaurants that are adults-only and charge a sometimes substantial fee to dine there.

To save money, you can obviously skip these restaurants. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a more special meal in the regular dining rooms. Feel free to order multiples of any course, order menu items from other rotational restaurants, or ask for your food to be customized in a way that suits your palate. Enlist your serving team as your ally in creating the perfect meal for you, at no upcharge.

5. Fancy ice cream.

disney cruise food cost

Three of the Disney ships have on board specialty ice cream shops: Dream (Vanellope’s), Fantasy (Sweet on You), Wish (Joyful Sweets). They have fancy flavors available for a fee, but there is plenty of free ice cream on the ships as well.

There will be a sundae offered on nearly every main dining room dessert menu. And there is free soft serve available on every ships’ pool deck (always chocolate and vanilla, but often additional fruity flavors as well). A little creativity can make your free soft serve more special. Grab some cookies from the buffet and make an ice cream sandwich. Add some soft serve to a free soda to make a float. Bring a dish of fruit or syrup from the buffet to top your soft serve.

6. Souvenirs.

The Disney ships all have multiple gift shops, with ample opportunity for spending. You can just skip the souvenirs. But if you do want some DCL merchandise, you should know that much of the shipboard merch is also available online at shopDisney.com. Shop Disney often offers sales and discounts that are not offered on the ships and they almost always have free shipping codes for orders over $75. If you want, say, a tee shirt that says “Disney Cruise Line,” you many be able to get it for less off the ship.

7. A verandah.

Verandah is the Disney term for balcony. Staterooms with verandahs almost always cost more than oceanview (porthole) or inside (no window) staterooms. A verandah can be nice, but there are plenty of places on deck to sit outside and watch the water. Particularly on a short cruise, you can have an equally lovely experience without spending hundreds or thousands of dollars extra on a verandah.

Hello. Do you not make Priceline/Hotwire posts anymore? Or maybe I don’t k ow how to navigate your site?

Don’t forget the Rainforest Room and the latte charge! I can’t resist upgrading the coffee. Does Wish have punch cards like the other ships?

Avoid room service surcharges. Your room should have a mini fridge. So, load up on buffet items that keep well in the fridge served chilled. Things like Fruit, Peel and Eat Shrimp, Pizza, sometimes sushi. You can take plates back to your room and put them in the fridge for mid-night snacks without the room service upcharge. The ceramic plates are sometimes too large to fit in the mini fridge. Bring some paper plates and ziplocks from home to xfer. And while you can bring Wine/Champagne on board. If you plan to drink it at the dining room…there is a ‘corkage fee’ (think 15 dollars/bottle) that the server adds. It includes a tableside ice bucket and approperate glass wear and the server pours. (Depending on how well you’ve tipped your server on previous night–he/she might ‘forget’ to add this fee)

Disney has free room service. Tips should be given but the actual items ordered are free. From the DCL website: https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/onboard-activities/room-service/ Feast on fresh, made-to-order dishes in the comfort of your stateroom 24 hours a day—with most meal items included in the price of your cruise.

The 24 Best Restaurants At Walt Disney World To Make Your Trip Even More Magical

Plan the most magical vacation of eats, from character breakfast to air-conditioned lounges to the spots serving Southern food and doing it right.

disney cruise food cost

Magic Kingdom

  • Disney's Hollywood Studios
  • Disney's Animal Kingdom

Disney Springs

Disney resorts.

Walt Disney World Resort

Planning meals at Walt Disney World Resort is a beast of logistics. There are more than 400 dining locations across the parks, resorts, and shopping center. And snagging the best Disney World restaurant reservation is more like a Black Friday frenzy than fun vacation planning as booking windows open 60 days out and at 6 a.m. daily. That’s a lot of pressure when time is money at Disney and there are so many choices. Fear not. We’ve created the ultimate Disney World restaurant guide with the best restaurants at each Disney park plus Disney Springs and Disney World resort hotels. These highly-rated, fan-favorite spots are solid no matter what time of day you visit. And there are picks for every budget, from the best Disney World restaurants for a splurge-worthy celebration to quick service that will fuel the family on the go. We’ve also prioritized the best mobile order at Disney World for most of our quick service picks because that’s the real Disney magic.

Best Mobile Order: Casey's Corner

On the corner of Main Street, U.S.A., most people cruise right past Casey’s on the way to Cinderella Castle thinking it’s just hot dogs. But there’s something else on the menu that’s more in-the-know among theme park regulars. Corn dog nuggets. That’s right. Corn. Dog. Nuggets. And here’s the semi-secret menu trick: You can buy hot pretzel cheese sauce to dip them in. For plant-based offerings at Disney World, you can’t go wrong with a “sausage” dog in a potato bun. And right now, there’s a frozen non-alcoholic mint julep lemonade that’s giving us all the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure vibes.

Best Reservation: Liberty Tree Tavern

You know that full-as-a-tick bliss that happens at the end of a big Thanksgiving dinner? Imagine that feeling but you don’t have to cook a thing. And it’s available every day. Heaven is a place on Earth and it’s Liberty Tree Tavern in Liberty Square. The family-style feast includes turkey, pot roast, mashed potatoes, mac ‘n’ cheese, stuffing (It’s colonial theming so we’ll forgive Mickey for not having cornbread dressing.), and more. But the real reason fans love LTT is the Oooey Gooey Toffee Cake. And because it’s “all-you-care-to-enjoy,” it’s bottomless, never-ending Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. Now, reservations are hard to come by because everyone wants that cake. Here’s a pro tip: If you can’t get a reservation for LTT, try The Diamond Horseshoe over in Frontierland. They now serve the exact same items. It’s just called a Saloon Feast. And, yes, you can also get the cake there, too.

Best Lounge: Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen

Technically, we’re making a square with a circle here. Because, historically, Magic Kingdom is a dry park and that goes back to Walt Disney’s original wishes for Disneyland and Disney World. However, Disney Parks have evolved and you can find spirits in bars, kiosks, carts, and more at Disney World’s other parks. But at Magic Kingdom, alcohol is only available inside sit-down restaurants. So, if you’re in need of ice-cold beer to cut through that Central Florida heat, plan ahead or take your chances with walk-ups at Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen in Adventureland. The highly themed space inspired by the Jungle Cruise attraction features housemade sangrias, the Kungaloosh Spiced Excursion Ale made exclusively for Disney World, and a great margarita.

Worth It Splurge: Cinderella's Royal Table

Location. Location. Location. Cinderella’s Royal Table is probably the most hyped Disney World restaurant and it’s worth the praise. The exclusive spot located inside Cinderella Castle has the most unique views of Magic Kingdom. And, yes, you get to meet a bunch of royals and there’s a little autographed postcard from Cinderella. However, the real premium is the exclusive access inside a landmark that most only ever see from the outside. And the theming is incredible. What’s more surprising: For a kid-first experience, the food is good . The prix fixe includes an app, entree, and dessert with choices ranging from filet mignon to a catch of the day with gouda grits. But whatever you do, don’t sleep on The Clock Strikes Twelve tart. It comes with the most beautiful chocolate clock face. There are so many little details to Cinderella’s Royal Table and while there are several spots around the resort with fine dining over $75 (or $100 if you add one of the various champagne flights), this is an experience that feels worth the cost.

Best Mobile Order: Regal Eagle Smokehouse

The American Pavilion at World Showcase doesn’t have the biggest razzle dazzle attractions or rides, but they do have a tour of BBQ at Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue. All the great signature styles are there, from Memphis to Kansas City to North Carolina to Texas. (But we would love to petition for some Alabama sauce.) Fixin’s include baked beans “with burnt ends,” creamy coleslaw, and more. This writer does not agree with the direction they went in for the mac ‘n’ cheese. If you call a mac ‘n’ cheese baked, it should be a casserole with a thick cheesy crust. Not a basket of creamy noodles with a sprinkle of bread crumbs. However, the banana pudding is the epitome of Southern summer. And the near 50-50 pudding to wafer ratio is perfection. If you’ve got a hungry group, order one of everything, grab a picnic table outside and have a mini ‘cue crawl.

Best Reservation: Rose & Crown Dining Room

There are several top contenders for best EPCOT reservation, from Italy’s Neapolitan pizza to the cheese soup at Canada’s Le Cellier. But for authentic food, great value and best views, Rose & Crown is worth every penny–or pence. Most think Rose & Crown is just the pub up front. And the pub is great. But the room and terrace behind the pub is a full sit-down restaurant offering authentic British dishes, from bangers and mash to traditional sticky toffee pudding with hot-buttered rum sauce. And the mushy peas. Y’all, the mushy peas. These are exactly how they’re served in a pub or chippy. If you go for an early supper, you can dine on the terrace overlooking World Showcase Lagoon. And if you book a late dinner, you’ll be able to watch the nightly fireworks from your table. (You’re also allowed to come out on the terrace to watch if you’re dining inside.) Money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy mushy peas with a fireworks show.

Best Lounge: La Cava del Tequila

There’s a reason so many guests start in Mexico on their trip around the World Showcase. And it’s likely the margaritas at Choza de Margarita. But inside the Mexico Pavilion, you’ll find La Cava del Tequila and it’s a Disney must-do. When you need a break from the humidity, squeeze into this little oasis for a cold Mexican lager and chips and queso. The real claim to fame here is the library of 200-plus tequilas. You can try specialty cocktails or a tequila flight. And the Corn Old Fashioned is the Tenn-Mex mash-up you never knew you needed with Roaming Man rye, Nixta corn liqueur and mole bitters.

Worth It Splurge: Space 220 Restaurant

Space 220 opened in 2021 and reservations have been nearly impossible to snag ever since. The highly immersive dining experience in the Mission: SPACE pavilion features a special “space elevator” that travels 220 miles above EPCOT to the Centauri Space Station. You get this really cool bird’s eye–spaceship eye?–view of Florida and the Gulf of Mexico as you zip up. And, yes, you are moving. It’s a pretty intense effect. Once aboard the space station, you’ll pop into the restaurant with gigantic curved windows that look out into space with several surprises no matter where you’re seated. Typically with Disney dining, when there’s a premium for theming or characters, the food doesn’t wow. But it does here with pan-Asian flair among American classics and presentations that are as delicious as they are creative. You’ve never seen a hummingbird cake like this. Two words: Pineapple caviar. Lunch features a two-course prix fixe and dinner is a three-course prix fixe. And if you can’t find a reservation, it’s always worth checking in with the host right at 11:30 a.m. when the space station opens to see if there’s walk-up availability. Or try snagging a reservation for the Space 220 Lounge which offers a limited menu of bites and is located inside the restaurant.

Disney's Hollywood Studios

Best mobile order: woody's lunch box.

Need fuel fast? Woody’s Lunch Box in Toy Story Land is a crowd-pleaser for kids and adults alike. It’s comfort food at its best with a breakfast bowl that’s basically just tater tots covered in smoked brisket country gravy or the lunch and dinner “Totchos,” which is essentially chili Frito pie on top of a basket of tater tots that are then drowned in queso. But the main mission here is homemade pop-tarts. The signature Raspberry Lunch Box Tart, which is only available for lunch and dinner, is stuffed with raspberry marmalade and covered in strawberry fondant. And the pastry alone is so buttery. You’ll never reach for the boxed stuff again.

Best Reservation: Oga's Cantina

Yes, this is just a bar with snacks. But it’s not just a bar. And you should make time and grab a coveted reservation even if you’re not a Star Wars fan. Oga’s Cantina is one of the most immersive environments at Disney World. Located in Star Wars : Galaxy’s Edge, this space saloon is designed to mimic a cinematic feeling right from the whooshing sound of the space door. Inside, it’s bustling with loud cantina jams, freaky alien decor and tables and booth vignettes that are so detail-oriented you’ll forget you’re in Central Florida. For nibbles, the Happabore Sampler features space pork cracklings and if you order the Blue Bantha milk, it comes with a Bantha horn butter cookie that this writer wishes she could bring to the holiday cookie swap. For 21+ guests, the Fuzzy Tauntaun is a peachy cocktail topped with tingling foam that slightly numbs (on purpose) your mouth for a second.

Best Lounge: BaseLine Tap House

The Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge gets a lot of buzz as it offers most of the same fine dining as the restaurant. But for more casual drinks, BaseLine Tap House is the spot to cheers. There’s wine on tap. Cocktails on tap. And the list of craft brews is vast. Plus, the zero-proof strawberry hibiscus soda is delightful. For bites, there’s a charcuterie board, a giant Bavarian pretzel, and house-made sweet-and-spicy almonds. There are several spots around Hollywood Studios that bottleneck crowds and BaseLine is a great reprieve to recharge and regroup.

Worth It Splurge: The Hollywood Brown Derby

There are other Disney World restaurants with the same price tag and caliber of service. But those don’t have spoon bread. The Hollywood Brown Derby is a Hollywood Studios rite of passage with the famous Cobb salad and root beer-brined pork. But no matter what you order, always opt for the extra $8 spoon bread with lavender honey butter. It’s sweet enough to be dessert. Though, you should definitely save room for the grapefruit cake with cream cheese icing.

Disney's Animal Kingdom

Best mobile order: satu'li canteen.

This writer was skeptical when Pandora–The World of Avatar was added to Animal Kingdom. But lunch at Satu'li Canteen changed her mind. The alien planet mess hall features some of the best portion-to-price ratios in the park and is one of the best Disney World restaurants for healthy options and hitting your protein goals. Because there’s only so much sugar and popcorn the human body can withstand. What makes Satu'li Canteen such a gem is the customizable options. There are various salad bowls you can build with choices of protein, grains, veggies, and sauce. And because it’s other-worldly, you’ll get funky toppings like popping boba balls, too. And the kid’s menu has one of the best bites at Disney World: cheeseburger bao buns. The steamed bites are stuffed with ground beef, pickles, and everything you’d expect on a classic hamburger. And, yes, you’re allowed to order off the kids' menu.

Best Reservation: Tusker House Restaurant

Character dining at Disney World is a whole world of its own. But in reality, what you pay for is access to many characters within a short amount of time with no waiting in line. But breakfast at Tusker House is 10/10. This writer would pay for that buffet even if Mickey and friends weren’t hanging around. Although, their little safari outfits are so stinking cute. Here, you’ll find Nala and Simba waffles, mealie pap, which is like a cheesy cornbread-grits hybrid, and POG mimosas. POG juice is actually bottomless all day. Yes, infinite POG. Lunch and dinner have naan and breads with various dips and curries as well as Red Red, which is a side dish made from black-eyed peas and plantains. There are also honey plantains, but for the real sweets, you have to try the blueberry and banana pudding.

Best Lounge: Nomad Lounge

Nomad Lounge is often mentioned as a silver lining alternative if you can’t get a reservation at Tiffins because it’s right next door and serves the beloved Tiffins bread service as well as similar fare for small bites. But Nomad Lounge is no second fiddle. It’s a clutch oasis for escaping the heat in Animal Kingdom, which always seems 10 degrees hotter than any other park. This is porch sitting at its best as the lounge overlooks Discovery River and a wall of lush greenery that creates a serene vibe within the chaos and crowds. And the small bites are tasty, from pineapple-glazed pork belly to Impossible sliders that will impress any meat-loving grill pro. Try one of the many specialty cocktails or mocktails as Nomad Lounge has a large list of fun, creative zero-proof sips such as the Happy Macaque with guava and coffee syrup. For beer, don’t miss the Kungaloosh Spiced Excursion Ale on draft. It's exclusive to Disney World and is brewed with sorghum.

Worth It Splurge: Tiffins Restaurant

Now, to Tiffins. Fine dining in a theme park does exist and you’ll find an exceptional meal at Tiffins Restaurant. Inspired by travels to Asia and Africa and research Disney Imagineers compiled while creating Animal Kingdom, the menu at Tiffins is like a traveler’s notebook, from Szechuan noodles to Oaxacan pork. And the shrimp and grits with South African mealie pap will have you rethinking everything you know about this classic dish. There’s even a salad with lettuce straight from The Land’s garden at EPCOT. But you cannot eat at Tiffins without starting with the signature bread service which includes guava sauce and a ginger-pear chutney. Some things at Disney are overhyped. These dips and condiments are worthy.

Best Quick Service: The Polite Pig

If you can’t make it out to The Ravenous Pig, one of our favorite restaurants in Orlando and a BBQ spot that’s been namedropped by Michelin, the James Beard Foundation and more, you can visit the Petrakis family’s sister restaurant at Disney Springs. The Polite Pig is a more casual outpost but there’s a bevy of signature smokes, from the Polite Pork Shoulder to black drum fish. Of course, there’s pulled pork sandwich, fried chicken, brisket, and everything else you’d expect from someone who’s done their BBQ homework. Save room for the sides though because the crispy Brussels sprouts have a whiskey caramel. And the Sweet Potato Spice Cake with orange cream cheese frosting is like Southern Thanksgiving in one bite.

Best Reservation: Chef Art Smith's Homecomin'

Deanne Revel

It’s not often you find a James Beard Award-winning chef attached to a theme park restaurant. But don’t underestimate Disney Springs. The outdoor shopping center has added several notable chefs including Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' in The Landing. The Floridian has cooked for everyone from dignitaries to Oprah and opened several Southern dining concepts along the way. But Homecomin’ is all about Florida agriculture and that coastal flare on Southern classics. Brunch, lunch or dinner: It’s all good. And we love a menu that looks like a doily. The fan favorite is the fried chicken, but the chicken salad is a solid sandwich for #TeamSavory. It’s celery-forward and drenched in Duke’s mayo. The cheddar drop biscuits are rich. And whatever you do: Save room for dessert. There’s hummingbird cake, a 100-year-old-family-recipe chocolate pecan pie and a moonshine-soaked butter cake that is righteous. This writer doesn’t like lane cakes and rum cakes etc. but that Shine Cake is the best dessert of anything, anywhere at Disney World.

Best Lounge: Coca-Cola Store Rooftop Beverage Bar

There are several great bars at Disney Springs, but we’re telling you to go to a big Coca-Cola gift shop. Why? Because there’s a bar on the roof with Coke. Float. Flights. This Town Center spot has unique views of Disney Springs and it’s a great place to watch the Aerophile balloon take flight. And while the beverage bar no longer serves alcohol, it is definitely the mocktail king of Disney World. If you love sampling soft drinks around the world at EPCOT’s Club Cool, you’ll want to try the Around The World Tray which features 16 different sodas and juice drinks. There’s also a Float Tray with eight U.S. sodas and ice cream. And if you can’t decide, order both! The Combo Tray offers a discount if you buy both flights. This is a great to-do for couples as the portions are much larger than Club Cool and perfect for sharing.

Worth It Splurge: The BOATHOUSE

If you’ve got a family celebration where you want to linger a while and chat with a great meal, you can’t do better than The BOATHOUSE: Great Food, Waterfront Dining, Dream Boats. Right next door to those iconic amphicars, The Boathouse feels like a neighborhood dockside dinner spot. The large windows and terrace overlook Lake Buena Vista (So you can watch those funky cars cruise by.) but the real sight is the Parker house rolls that have gone viral on social media. The wagyu sliders are also served on the rolls and if you book brunch, the rolls are coated in a warm cinnamon sauce. As the name implies, it’s all about seafood here with shrimp, crab, oysters, and market-fresh fish. Start with the housemade pimento cheese dip served with crispy tortilla chips. You won’t be disappointed. And while the wine, beer and spirits list is lengthy and one of the more robust at Disney World, the zero-proof tart cherry limeade with Key lime juice is divine.

Best Mobile Order: Capt. Cook's

Resort quick service tends to run together with the same fries, chicken tenders and refrigerator full of Uncrustables at pretty much all Disney hotels. But Capt. Cook’s at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort feels special with more unique offerings you won’t find anywhere else on property. Breakfast features a banana-stuffed Tonga Toast, which is a Disney rite of passage. It’s a sourdough brick of bread that’s deep-fried and dusted in cinnamon sugar. And lunch features pulled pork nachos with pineapple salsa and Poly Chips which are a house-made mix of potato and wonton chips. You can also order a side of plain Poly Chips now because they’re so popular.

Best Reservation: Olivia’s Cafe

If we were to award one restaurant as the best Disney World restaurant of all, it would be Olivia’s Cafe. Located in the main check-in building at Disney's Old Key West Resort, it’s a hidden gem that doesn’t get enough hype. Like Key West, Olivia’s is casual with a mix of beachy decor and some of the most gorgeous vintage china this writer has ever seen. All too often a restaurant at Disney World will have a must-eat dessert or a really good burger that everyone talks about on TikTok. But here, every single item on the menu is a greatest hit, from the hush puppies with Key lime mustard to the banana bread French toast at brunch. And we’re not talking banana bread flavor. It’s thick slices of banana bread that’s been French toast-a-fied. And Olivia’s Breakfast Potatoes are less like hashbrowns and more like a cheesy funeral casserole. Even if you’re not staying at Old Key West or in the Disney Springs or EPCOT resort areas, it is absolutely worth your while to go out of the way for Olivia’s Cafe.

Best Lounge: Enchanted Rose

If you haven’t been to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in a while, prepare to be wowed. In the last couple of years, The GF got a glow-up with new restaurant concepts, room remodels, and the Enchanted Rose lounge. It’s pure fairytale magic with highly detailed decor in four themed spaces inspired by the live-action Beauty and the Beast Rococo aesthetic. And the drinks are just as luxe. Of the specialty cocktails, head straight for the Lavender Fog or try one of the whimsical martinis. The wine list is lengthy ("After all, Miss, this is France!") and impressive, especially if you love bubbly. And the cheese plate with apricot jam and cranberry bread is the perfect accompaniment.

Worth It Splurge: Victoria & Albert’s

It’s the splurge of the splurge. If the Grand Floridian is Disney World’s marquee hotel, Victoria & Albert’s is the diamond. Make that AAA five-diamond. And just recently the restaurant, which features a dining room as well as two more exclusive tasting tables, won a Michelin Star. It’s a big deal as this is Disney World’s first and it’s rare for a theme park restaurant to be recognized at this level. The Dining Room at Victoria & Albert’s features two ever-changing tasting menus by Chef de Cuisine Matthew Sowers. (He’s also behind the delicious experience at Remy aboard the Disney Dream and Fantasy cruise ships which this writer is a big, big fan of.) The prix-fixe here is usually 10 courses and starts around $300. That doesn't include wine pairings from their 500-plus list or zero-proof drink pairings at $155 and $115. It’s not for every family visiting, as guests need to be at least 10 years old. But if you’re celebrating an anniversary or planning a Disney wedding or simply want to treat yourself, this is one of the most exclusive dining experiences at Disney World and many fans consider it the ultimate Disney bucket list item.

Cheapest Disney Cruises: Magical Voyages on a Budget

As a seasoned Disney travel writer and parent, I’ve discovered that a Disney Cruise can be an unforgettable family experience without breaking the bank. While Disney Cruise Line is known for its premium offerings, there are ways to make this magical adventure more affordable. In this comprehensive guide, I’ll share insider tips on finding the cheapest Disney cruises and maximizing your value at sea.

Book with The Vacationeer to Get Credit Toward Onboard Spending

Understanding Disney Cruise Pricing

Before we dive into specific deals, it’s crucial to understand how Disney Cruise Line (DCL) prices its voyages:

  • Prices fluctuate based on demand, season, and booking timing
  • Inside staterooms are typically the most budget-friendly option
  • Shorter cruises often have lower overall prices
  • Off-peak sailings can offer significant savings

Cheapest Disney Cruise Options

2-night cruises: the absolute cheapest disney cruise experience.

A wide-open view of the ocean, with the edge of the deck of a Disney Cruise Ship barely visible

Typically, the absolute cheapest Disney cruises are the 2-night sailings . This makes sense, as the shortest Disney cruises generally have lower overall prices.

Currently, the most affordable 2-night options are part of the “Disney Magic at Sea” cruises sailing from Australia and New Zealand ports, such as Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland. These cruises offer a unique blend of Disney magic and Oceanic adventure, often starting as low as $800 USD for two guests in an inside stateroom.

While these may be the cheapest Disney cruises available, their location makes them less accessible for many travelers. Transcontinental airfare will eradicate the savings for most people. However, for those in the region or looking for an extraordinary Disney adventure, these cruises offer exceptional value.

It’s important to note that Disney Cruise Line’s itineraries are always evolving, and future offerings may include short cruises sailing from U.S. ports. Always check with The Vacationeer for the latest information on upcoming itineraries and ports.

Other Affordable Disney Cruise Options

For more accessible options, consider these typically budget-friendly choices:

3-Night Cruises

  • Baja Cruises from San Diego : These cruises typically start from $1,600 for 2 guests and often include a stop in Ensenada, Mexico.

4-Night Cruises

People swim in blue waters at Cozumel

Offering slightly more value than shorter options:

  • Bahamian Cruises from Port Canaveral : Usually starting around $1,850 for 2 guests in an inside stateroom. These often include a stop at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.
  • Western Caribbean Cruises from Galveston : These cruises, often starting around $1,500 for 2 guests, may include stops in Cozumel or Progreso, Mexico.

5-Night Cruises

For those who can extend their trip a bit longer:

  • Western Caribbean Cruises : Departing from ports like New Orleans, these cruises often start from about $2,500 for 2 guests.

Remember, these are general starting prices and can vary significantly based on sailing date, ship, and current promotions. Availability and pricing are always changing, so it’s best to check with The Vacationeer for the most up-to-date information on available Disney cruises for your desired travel period.

Disney Wish Cruise Ship Menus and Restaurant Guide

By Leigh Caldwell 2 Comments

So you’re planning to go on a Disney Cruise!

disney cruise food cost

Disney Wish docked at Castaway Cay

If you’re like us, you’re already wondering about the FOOD available on your cruise . You’re in luck, because we’ve got a full look at the Disney Wish menus for you today!

The Disney Wish first set sail on February 11th, 2022. Disney Cruise Line’s first mega-ship continued some of the traditional Disney Cruise Line dining, but also introduced new concepts. One thing you should know about DCL ships before we dive into menus — Disney introduced the concept of “rotational dining” on cruises.

That means instead of one main dining room, Disney Cruise ships have three different, heavily-themed restaurants, and you rotate through dining at each one on different nights during your cruise. Your servers even move from restaurant to restaurant with you!

Captain Mickey

The Disney Wish has three all-new restaurants for rotational dining: Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure , Worlds of Marvel , and 1923. Now, let’s dive into those Disney Wish Cruise Ship Menus!

Disney Wish Casual Dining

Marceline market.

Marceline Market  is one of the casual dining options on the Wish and is inspired by the town where Walt Disney grew up. This food hall allows guests to  enjoy walk-up dining at any (or all!) of the 10 unique food stalls. Each stall is themed to a Disney animated story  —  Alice in Wonderland  and  Zootopia  being just two examples — and offers a wide variety of freshly prepared cuisines. Guests can choose from American classics, international specialties, comfort foods, seafood, soups and salads, vegetarian and plant-based eats, baked goods, and desserts, all served buffet-style.

Marceline Market on the Disney Wish Cruise Ship

Marceline Market is open for breakfast and lunch. Since it is a buffet, the menu will vary, but you can expect to find standards such as bacon, eggs, waffles and omelets at breakfast, and burgers, fries, chicken tenders, and salads at lunch.

Here’s our review of Marceline Market!

Mickey and friends festival of foods.

Welcome to  Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods , where you can nosh on some eats and treats themed after the Fab Five! The  Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods  is a selection of several quick service restaurants, including  Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue ,  Donald’s Cantina ,  Daisy’s Pizza Pies ,  Goofy’s Grill , and  Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream . It’s kind of like a food court, and there’s enough food to satisfy a variety of tastes!

Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue at Festival of Foods

Mickey’s Smoketack Barbecue serves BBQ Smoked Brisket Carving, St. Louis Pork, Smoked Chicken, BBQ Smoked Pulled Pork, and Smoked Kielbasa Sausage . Side dishes include  Baked Mac & Cheese, Collard Greens, Sweet Potato Fries, and Texas Jalapeño Corn Bread .

Daisy’s Pizza Pies serves up Prosciutto Pizza, Four Cheese Pizza, Pepperoni Sausage Pizza, Margarita Pizza, and a Plant-Based Sausage Pizza .

Donald’s Cantina will scratch that Mexican food itch with  build-your-own   tacos, burritos, and bowls!  You can get your choice of  fajita beef, fajita chicken, pork carnitas, rice, beans, or fajita vegetables  and a choice of  guacamole, salsa, sour cream, queso blanco, or a Mexican cheese blend  to top it all off!

And over at  Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream , guests can choose between  vanilla, chocolate , and  vanilla-chocolate swirl soft-serve.

Here’s our review of Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods!

Disney wish rotational dining.

1923  is a family-friendly restaurant  inspired by animation , and its name comes from the year the Walt Disney Company was founded. The restaurant is a celebration of the Walt Disney Company, animation, and its Californian heritage. There are  two dining rooms , including the  Walt Disney room  and the  Roy Disney room , which reflect classic Hollywood glamour AND Disney whimsy.

disney cruise food cost

The food at 1923 features  California flavors , with  “sophisticated dishes”  designed specifically for families. You’ll find a  blend of European, Asian, and South American cuisines , as well as fresh, local ingredients and Napa Valley wines!

Appetizers include dishes such as  Porcini Spiced Ahi Tuna  and  Fennel, Bartlett Pear, and Tatsoi Salad , as well as  Burrata Mozzarella Cheese & Prosciutto di Parma , and  Kingswell Duck Confit Pastilla. Soup offerings are a Pulled Guinea Hen Corn Chowder and Roasted Roma Tomato Soup, along with a bread service of Fig and Olive Bread.

Four Cheese Tricolor Torteloni Appetizer

Entrees include Tortiglioni Pasta, Italian Flat Parsley and Rosemary-Crusted Rack of Lamb, and a Seared Verlasso Salmon Filet. For dessert, you can try the Churros Calientes, a Burbank Blueberry-Lemon Bavarian Cream, or a Flourless Orange Almond Cake.

Here’s our review of 1923!

Arendelle: a frozen dining adventure.

At  Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure , you get to dine while celebrating the engagement of Anna and Kristoff (right after the events in  Frozen 2 ). The restaurant is designed to look like a  theater-in-the-round , with a center stage and dining tables placed around the stage.

disney cruise food cost

Anna and Kristoff make their way around the tables, sporting some special party looks, and there is entertainment throughout the meal! The menu at this spot features  Nordic-influenced cuisine  and  combinations of traditional Nordic flavors  along with more  modern dishes .

There’s a variety of appetizers including one with a sampling of fish, scallops, a ham tart, and more . You’ll also find salads and soups . There are a number of entrees to pick from, including the pork tenderloin, sea bass, and more . Queen Anna would not allow dessert to be skipped (of course!), so there are a few different sweet treats to try, including a chocolate bar !

Worlds of marvel.

At Worlds of Marvel, you’ll experience something called  “Avengers: Quantum Encounter.” The story behind Quantum Encounter is that Ant-Man and The Wasp are going on their first speaking engagement for the Avengers and are hosting a presentation of some super powerful Super Hero technology. Blue lights and chrome are everywhere the eye can see, and i t does feel like you’re in a super high-tech restaurant!

Worlds of Marvel on the Disney Wish Cruise ship

The menu at Worlds of Marvel is inspired by some of the cuisines from your favorite super hero films. There are dishes that take inspiration from “African Wakanda, Eastern European Sokovia” and even New York.

For the appetizers, you’ll find salmon, bao buns, and more — many of these have a seafood component to them. There are also salads and soups if you’d prefer to head in that direction! For the entrees, there are a few options, including a Berbere Spiced Pork Chop, Chicken Schnitzel, and pasta . Last but not least — dessert! There’s a  Subatomic Sticky Date Pudding, Key Lime Pie, and more .

Specialty dining, palo steakhouse.

Palo Steakhouse is an adults-only steakhouse inspired by Cogsworth the clock from Beauty and Beast . The restaurant uses a palette of  woods ,  shining metals , and  clock-like details to immerse you in an environment that reminds you of an ornate clock. One important thing to know about Palo is that it is a premium restaurant — there will be an upcharge to dine here.

The menu includes both Italian fare  and  modern steakhouse dining. Guests dining at Palo can choose from either a  pre fixe  menu or  a la carte . The pre-fixe menu is  $45 per guest , and includes 4 courses —  antipasta  (appetizer),  insalata  (salad),  il secondo  (entrée), and  dolce (dessert). The prix fixe menu allows you to choose from options like  calamari, pan-seared salmon, beef tenderloin, and tiramisu . The a la carte menu has a wider selection available, like  soft potato gnocchi, wagyu beef, various pizzas, veal, and more.

The  dessert menu also has quite a selection to choose from, like souffles, cakes, and a variety of gelatos.

Here’s our review of Palo Steakhouse!

Enchanté is an adult-exclusive restaurant  onboard the Disney Wish that is themed after  Beauty and the Beast.  It takes inspiration from Lumière, the candelabra from the movie. It is one of the Wish’s most elegant dining experiences and even features a  gourmet menu by three-Michelin-starred Chef Arnaud Lallement . The color scheme and decor of the entire space (including that lounge space) really meshes Lumière,  Beauty and the Beast , and the sea together, with golds, blues, and tans weaved throughout the seating, tables, and more.

Keep in mind that  reservations for Enchanté are required and are subject to availability.  While many dining experiences on the Disney Cruise are included in the cost of your trip, this adults-only experience is an  additional charge.

The standard dinner here is meant to be a “progressive” experience. It starts with some time at the lounge, where you are given a  glass of Champagne and a Chef’s choice amuse bouche (basically a small appetizer bite).

At Enchanté, you have 3 different menus to choose from.

First, there is something called the  “Collection” which is priced at $195 . This is a 9-course meal that is meant to combine new dishes with some signature ones. It’s sort-of a Chef’s Table menu where the team chooses what to give you. And if you want to add on the  champagne selection , it’s  $140 per person .

There is also a  “Passion” selection which is $125 per person . This is a 5 course meal featuring the items specifically listed there. This menu option features tomatoes, wild halibut, and more. There is also a  wine experience that can be added for $115 per person.

And finally, you can also grab some menu items  a la carte , including caviar and Maine lobster.

Unfortunately, I did not enjoy any of the dining offerings on the Wish, and my voyage in Oct. 2022 was my 11th DCL experience. The Marceline Market was a poor substitute from Cabana’s pre-pandemic. The on deck BBQ was not great, not everyone can eat BBQ. There were no sandwiches, tuna, salads, light wraps, fruit salad or other lighter fare items to choose from. The Hot Dogs were poor, with toppings limited to ketchup and mustard. No chili, kraut, relish…very poor. Disney could have very easily made this stop “The Best Dogs on the 7 Seas”, but they didn’t. A burger is a burger a pizza or a taco just does not make it for me. As for the rotational dining experience, it was the worst ever across all of the other 4 ships. Marvel was terrible amounting to noise on a tv during dinner. The food was not interesting or unique or inspired, very disappointing vs. the Artist’s Pallet on the Fantasy. The 1921 dining was nothing more than a steak dinner almost anywhere. No show except looking at the walls. As for the Frozen dining experience, it was terrible if you had no exposure to the Frozen back story. A huge dining room with a center stage that almost no one could hear the performers speak. If you were not sitting ringside, the whole entertainment sequence was terrible. My wife and I will never travel on the Wish again as the dining and other experiences on board will cause us to either steer away from DCL towards other lines, or return to the older ships. One can only hope that the next ship of the Wish size will be better imagined.

I agree with Ken and I was not impressed with any of the restaurants or menus on WISH. I had scallops every night for lack of anything else. I did enjoy the show at Arendelle. We are sailing again but do not plan on eating at any of the restaurants and will instead use room service or Marceline Market and put it in the fridge for dinner!
