NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - FEBRUARY 25: Lainey Wilson performs onstage during New Faces for CRS at Omni Nashville Hotel on February 25, 2022 in Nashville, Tennessee and AS VEGAS, NEVADA - FEBRUARY 01: (EXCLUSIVE COVERAGE) Recording artist George Strait performs as part of his Strait to Vegas engagements at T-Mobile Arena on February 01, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Every Can't-Miss Country Music Tour Scheduled for 2023

Whether you want to see Country Music Hall of Famers (Hank Williams Jr., George Strait), '90s legends (The Chicks, Shania Twain), 21st century standard bearers (Carrie Underwood, Kane Brown) or this decade's breakout stars (Lainey Wilson, Walker Hayes), there's an upcoming, ongoing or recent tour that should be in your wheelhouse.

Tours spilling over from 2022 range from Underwood's Denim & Diamonds Tour to The Judds' Final Tour . For the latter, a star-studded group of the singers she inspired, including Kelsea Ballerini and Ashley McBryde , joined live music phenom Wynonna Judd in celebrating the timeless music she made with her late mother, Naomi.

"The decision to add 15 more shows [for 2023] was a no-brainer for me," Judd shared in a press release. "The fans have been such a gift during my time of grieving and honoring my mother in song. What an amazing season this is. I look so forward to continuing the celebration of the music that has changed my life forever."

There's also a stacked slate of country superstars with Las Vegas residencies. Brooks will hold court in Sin City, as will The Chicks, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert and Keith Urban. Each follow a tradition that at least traces back to Elvis Presley 's first Vegas stay in 1969.

Brooks' initial slate of appearances at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace sold so well that new dates for 2024 will be announced in May 2023.

"You're scared to death... when they tell you that they're going to put on a whole year of shows," Brooks explained in a press statement. "And then... the first day of on-sale... they call you and tell you that the whole year is gone. That's an amazing feeling, as you can imagine. And all of a sudden it hits you - 'they want to extend this!' Well the only thing better than one year at Caesars Palace in Vegas would be two years, right? So I'm there!"

Keep an eye on this list because it will be updated throughout the year with newly-announced tours as well as additional dates for those already listed.

Often referred to as the “Music City”, you’re sure to catch some life changing shows there. Las Vegas also stands out, with venues that see many of the country greats take up residence and inspire fans for years.

Dallas - Fort Worth

Los angeles, trending country artists.

Country music has many layers. Here are the artists blowing up and making waves in different scenes across the globe.

Americana country music, or just plain Americana, is all about mixing up American musical styles. We're talking folk, country, blues, and rock, all thrown into a blender to create something truly special. It's the kind of music that gets you feeling all the feels—love, heartbreak, and the messy parts of life. The songs are full of soul, with melodies that hit you right in the heart. From Johnny Cash's storytelling to Lucinda Williams' raw honesty, and The Avett Brothers' eclectic vibes to Jason Isbell's deep lyrics, Americana artists keep pushing the boundaries. It's the kind of music that speaks to your soul and makes you proud to be American.

Mumford & Sons

The lumineers, bruce springsteen, norah jones, iron & wine, country rock.

Country rock brings together the twangy spirit of country music with the raw energy of rock 'n' roll. It's like the perfect musical hybrid, blending the heartfelt storytelling and down-home charm of country with the electrifying guitar riffs and driving rhythms of rock. This genre emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s, with influential bands like The Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Creedence Clearwater Revival leading the way.

Jason Aldean

Carrie underwood, lynyrd skynyrd, country pop.

Whether it's a heartfelt ballad or an upbeat anthem, country pop combines the best of both worlds, creating music that's easy to sing along to and makes you want to hit the dance floor. It's the perfect soundtrack for road trips, summer days, and those moments when you need a catchy tune to brighten your mood. This genre gained popularity in the 1990s and continues to dominate the airwaves today. With artists like Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, and Keith Urban leading the way, country pop has found a massive fan base worldwide.

Florida Georgia Line

Zac brown band, outlaw country.

Outlaw country artists like Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash paved the way, challenging the establishment and delivering raw, honest music that spoke to the working class and outsiders. With its blend of traditional country, rock 'n' roll, and a healthy dose of attitude, outlaw country carries a distinct sound that resonates with those seeking authenticity and a rebellious spirit.

Willie Nelson

Chris stapleton, hank williams, jr., steve earle, lucinda williams, alternative country.

Alternative country is the genre for those who crave something different, a departure from the polished and predictable, seeking music that challenges boundaries and expands the definition of what country can be. It's all about embracing a more experimental and eclectic approach, incorporating elements of rock, folk, punk, and even indie music into the country sound. Alternative country artists like Wilco, Ryan Adams, and Neko Case have taken the genre in new and exciting directions, infusing it with their unique musical styles and lyrical depth.

The Avett Brothers

Kacey musgraves, my morning jacket, she & him, dolly parton, old crow medicine show, alison krauss, trampled by turtles, gillian welch, modern country.

Modern country music is a dynamic and evolving genre that incorporates elements from various musical styles while staying true to its country roots. It reflects the changing times and embraces a contemporary sound, appealing to a broad range of listeners. Modern country artists infuse their music with influences from pop, rock, R&B, and even hip-hop, creating a diverse and exciting sonic landscape.

Maren Morris

Rockabilly country music, a vibrant fusion of rock and traditional country, gained popularity in the 1950s. This genre combines the twangy roots of country with the rhythmic vibe of rock and roll. Country rockabilly artists use upbeat tempos, slapback guitar riffs, and a distinctive honky-tonk flavor to create the unique sound. Pioneered by the likes of Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash, rockabilly remains influential across the music industry. In the modern landscape, acts such as Chris Isaak , The Everly Brothers , and Moonlight Howlers infuse new energy into the genre while paying homage to the roots.

The Drifters

The everly brothers, jerry lee lewis, little richard.

Filk music, rooted in science fiction and fantasy fandom, blends folk melodies with lyrics exploring speculative fiction themes. Notable artists like Leslie Fish, Julia Ecklar, and Ookla the Mok have contributed to this genre, offering a creative outlet for fans to express their love for these genres through music.

Dark Dark Dark

David arkenstone, heather dale, austin lounge lizards, country folk.

With acoustic guitars, banjos, and fiddles as the backbone, country folk artists create a warm and inviting sound that feels intimate and comforting. The lyrics paint vivid pictures of landscapes, relationships, and personal experiences, resonating with listeners who appreciate heartfelt storytelling. Artists like Emmylou Harris, John Prine, and Gillian Welch have played pivotal roles in shaping the country folk genre, infusing it with their unique voices and musical sensibilities.

Sinéad O'Connor

I had no idea what to expect from this show, still I was there in the first row after flying from Lisbon just for this. The show was amazing and we'll worth all the trouble! Sinead: her songs are so powerful and her performance is so kind and tender yet so strong! Sometimes she looks like a powerful woman when singing and suddenly she smiles and looks like a shy kid on stage. I was so amazed by everything and just being there that I was overflown with happiness and almost started crying. By her music. Go see her live. And one of the best things: she didn't perform "nothing compares 2 you". Her work has grown. Her latest albums are amazing. She doesn't need that. She is NOT an 80's act. She's a musician with great art to show. Pedro

John Mayer Trio

I attended a John Mayer concert last fall and it was spectacular! He really knew how to get a crowd going, he sounded just as amazing live as he does on the radio. The chill vibe of the scene couldn't be matched, after almost every song John changed guitars giving the audience a new special something to marvel at. Even though he entertained with a lot of songs off his new album, he played old favorites too. "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" and "Gravity" were just a few. At one point in the show only a fraction of the audience knew the new songs, so John proceeded to play "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey. The whole audience was on their feet at this unexpected rendition of a classic rock hit. After he had finished he said with a laugh "that ladies and gentlemen, is called cheating" it was these little things, while some people consider them trivial, that made the concert experience so personal despite the thousands of people there. John concluded the concert by thanking everyone for their undying support and telling everyone to go follow their dreams, find what they love and pursue it and never let anyone tell you otherwise. Capped off with a "when you leave just keep being awesome!" It was a touching experience that I wasn't expecting. All in all going to John Mayers concert was am experience I will never forget and recommend to anyone who loves chill music and good vibes.

It was amaaaazing!!!! Such a great crowd, jumping and singing together to every song, it was a wonderful experience. I have seen Mumford & Sons quite a few times, this was definitely a very special one. It was also the first time I saw the new 360 stage setup, and I absolutely loved it! The members are constantly moving around and with the beautiful lights, design and great sound it is a completely different and exciting level of a live show. This setup makes you feel a lot more ‘closer’, it’s like you’re a part of it all. I am very happy I have the chance to see then again soon at another stop of the Delta Tour, can’t wait! This is something everyone should experience at least once (but preferably tons) in their lives! :)

Amazing! Best show that I had ever seen , she is just what this world needs right now, very Inspirational. Love that she’s crowd pleasing and Faith based! She makes sure her whole Audience feels like they are sitting at the front of the stage and that is one of the Best signs of a true Artist!

Alabama's Randy Owen discusses the band's inspirations, legacy and new CMT special

Alabama's lead singer randy owen discusses the band's hits, including "dixieland delight" and "mountain music," and their enduring legacy..

Portrait of Marcus K. Dowling

Country Music Hall of Famers Alabama are having their legacy as one of the genre's most iconic rock star acts of the past half-century honored via national tour dates and a new CMT special.

"CMT Giants: Alabama" premieres Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. CT, exclusively on CMT.

Cousins Jeff Cook, Teddy Gentry and Randy Owen, born in Fort Payne, Alabama, bridge Southern rock's 1970s-era acts like Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Charlie Daniels Band to country's pop-styled '90s stars like Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson.

Though Cook died in November 2022 at age 73 after battling Parkinson's disease, the band still soldiers on.

'Dixieland Delight'

Blake Shelton partners with Steve Wariner, Pam Tillis pairs with Lorrie Morgan, and Brad Paisley, Jamey Johnson, Jason Aldean, Little Big Town, Old Dominion, Riley Green, and Sam Hunt appear on the two-hour CMT special.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

Though intimate compared to their arena shows that still pack in crowds in the tens of thousands, fellow Alabama native Riley Green singing "Dixieland Delight" on the CMT special is an impressive highlight.

"One of my dreams was to play or write a song so well that people in the audience would sing along," Owen says. "It's still emotional to see my dream come true."

In the development of their 1983 classic, the band took songwriter Ronnie Rogers' lyrics about driving an hour south of Nashville in Leiper's Fork and via a few changes in composition inspired by the work of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young on songs like "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" developed it as a broader Southern anthem — with sing-along refrains for the crowd included.

Regarding a song like "Roll On," which was covered by Old Dominion on the special, Owen recalls, at the behest of songwriter Dave Loggins, pulling up in their tour buses at the Music Mill recording studio at Roy Acuff Place on Music Row at 2 a.m. and recording the track on a freezing night in early November in 1983.

A desire to evolve the CB radio-aided trucking song trend past C.W. McCall's 1976 global hit "Convoy," Jerry Reed's "Eastbound and Down" and the fodder for comedic TV shows like "B.J. and the Bear" fueled their interests.

To record the track's trademark CB radio call, the band pulled a live microphone onto one tour bus and recorded the audio from the other. To get the authentic sound of a bus horn and the bus driving off, they recorded the bus previously used to make the CB radio call driving away from the Music Mill.

"People driving by the studio stopped and watched us — they must've thought we were on some heavy drugs," Owen jokes.

'Lady Down on Love'

Owen recalls a heartbreaking moment during a 1976 concert in the club room at the Red Carpet Inn near Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green as the inspiration for "Lady Down on Love."

He was engaging in some stage banter and happened upon a dozen women celebrating the recent divorce of one of their friends.

"Well, I'd really rather be at home with my husband and be in love," said the divorcee, sadly.

Bittersweetly, the night in Bowling Green was also the first night she'd been out partying with her friends since she married at 18. The sadness of seeing young love on the rocks hit Owen hard.

Hopeful for a Music City in-road, Owen wrote a ballad meant for a man to sing (ideally "Just Get Up and Close the Door" hit-maker Johnny Rodriguez) about being at fault for a marriage dissolving.

The group held onto the emotive ballad for seven years. Upon its 1983 release, it was a country chart-topper.

'Mountain Music'

Insofar as platinum-seller "Mountain Music," Owen "took forever" to encapsulate the unique energy that bluegrass and folk music hold over small-town residents of the area between Lookout Mountain and Chattanooga, Tennessee.

He finally stopped, thought about his childhood in DeKalb County, Alabama, and the following poured from his soul:

"Swim across the river / Just to prove that I'm a man / Spend the day bein' lazy / Just bein' nature's friend / Climb a long tall hick'ry / Bend it over, skinnin' cats / Playin' baseball with chert rocks / Usin' sawmill slabs for bats."

In Owen's mind, to work ideally, the song needed to have a triple-lead bluegrass-style vocal, fiddles and a rock-styled drum solo in its composition, too.

Similarly, songs like "Song of the South," "I'm in a Hurry," "Cheap Seats" and "My Home's in Alabama" served to evolve country past its countrypolitan and traditional eras.

'A community based on Southern-inspired country music'

While discussing the development of "Lady Down on Love," Owen makes an off-handed comment about fashion. It ultimately speaks to something more profound about the group.

"We used to be dressed like doctors — gosh, that was awful."

Instead of their traditional T-shirts and jeans, at the time, they saw fit to dress the quartet in suits similar to the ones by Hollywood fashion designer Harvey Krantz that the Oak Ridge Boys (then having mega-success with "Y'all Come Back Saloon") and Kenny Rogers wore to curry favor with country music's crossover mainstream popularity.

Five years later, they were being booked by live event icon George Moffett at fairs nationwide.

Their style, like their sound, had evolved.

Before they played at suburban Chicago's short-lived Poplar Creek Music Theater, Owen recalls Moffet asking the band's manager, "Don't you think it's time the boys get their outfits on?"

"What outfits? The boys wear busted-up jeans and whatever T-shirts the audience gives them at the last show," Owen says their manager responded.

"Looking like that, we scared (country traditionalists) to death," he says.

Still laughing, Owen adds a statement of gratitude for Alabama's legacy.

"It's beautiful to be able to give the world a community based on Southern-inspired country music. To do that and still take no prisoners when we're on stage, anywhere we play in the world, it's all magical."

The show was broadcast live over the network’s Highway channel — listen here — and throughout the set Jelly shouted out the listeners and thanked the SiriusXM for its support and the role it has played in launching his late-blooming career: He’s nearly 40 and has been at it for two decades, and now that his moment is here, he is clearly savoring it, thanking the audience graciously multiple times as well as his wife and two children, his mother and four siblings, his band, crew and team — and spoke at length about how far he’s come from the East Nashville projects where he was raised, not to mention the substance abuse and years in prison that he’s risen so far above, yet will always remain with him.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jem Aswad (@jemaswad)

And he also talked about how much being interviewed by SiriusXM’s Howard Stern had meant to him, and how he’d played a couple of covers specifically for his appearance on the show, but since this was a SiriusXM show, it was probably OK to repeat them here — and then launched into Otis Redding’s bittersweet 1967 swan song, “Sittin’ on the Dock of a Bay.” Even his intro music was a sort of dial-spinning collection of snippets in the vein of the songs above, concluding with Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive” (maybe a nod to his recent cover conversation with the Jersey legend in Interview).

And although the two could not be much more different in appearance, his stage presence was reminiscent of Tom Petty’s in its warmth. Jelly is more effusive with his gratitude and, despite his size, less intimidating, but both performers know (or knew) how to make their audiences feel like their friends — and despite that warmth, there’s an underlying toughness: you know they’ve seen some shit.

Of course, he also played the hits that got him to where he is: “Save Me,” “Son of a Sinner,” “Need a Favor,” “I’m Not OK,” his new single “Liar” and more. His powerful and road-tested band matched him every step of the way and he introduced all of them at the end of the set — his powerhouse drummer is a plus-sized man with a formidable mullet named Pork Chop.

Especially today, when a song that a 17-year-old records in their bedroom can suddenly vault them to international stardom and performance expectations that they’re nowhere near prepared for, years of playing dive bars and having to win over audiences pay off. Jelly is as vivid an example of that as one is likely to see — yes, most of the audience was there specifically to see him, but his ability to connect with an audience, both collectively and individually, is rare. And after the show ended, he spent at least half an hour in a meet-and-greet, shaking hands and slapping backs and taking photos until every person in line had gotten one.

His first arena tour launches August 27 in Salt Lake City and continues across the continent through the end of November — it’s not hard to imagine that Jelly Roll’s big voice, sound and presence will fill those arenas as easily as this overstuffed tent in the Hamptons.

From Switchfoot to Amy Grant, pop to punk, 13 must-see fall concerts in Columbia

Portrait of Aarik Danielsen

Before you ever notice the change outside, the promise of cool comes to Columbia courtesy of the fall concert calendar. This upcoming season features veteran acts with catalogs stacked with hits and up-and-comers who already own seriously faithful followings.

Here are 13 of this fall's must-see shows, with no doubt more to be announced.

Sept. 11: Kaitlin Butts at Rose Music Hall

One of the most consistent songwriters in modern country music, Butts treks to Columbia behind "Roadrunner," an album where, as NPR notes , each cut corresponds to a different plot point in the classic musical "Oklahoma." Ken Pomeroy shares the bill. Tickets are $20-$23. Visit https://rosemusichall.com/ for details.

Sept. 27: Silversun Pickups at The Blue Note

From early hits like "Lazy Eye" through their latest release, 2022's "Physical Thrills," this Los Angeles band has made nearly 20 years' worth of gauzy, atmospheric rock. Silversun Pickups' songs surround the listener while reaching into the deeper places. Tickets are $35-$50. Visit https://thebluenote.com/ for more.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

Sept. 28: Badflower at The Blue Note

Los Angeles' Badflower is steadily amassing one of the stronger singles catalogs in recent memory with rockers like "Ghost," "Heroin," "The Jester" and "30." The band's latest cut, "Detroit," is a seamless blend of melody and disillusionment. Slothrust and Missio share the bill. Tickets are $35-$49.50.

Oct. 5: Turnover at The Blue Note

Virginia Beach’s Turnover often is grouped in with its emo peers, a designation that belies the band’s facility with dreamy soundscapes that live somewhere between shoegaze and soft rock. Glare and Glixen share the bill. Tickets are $25-$40.

Oct. 9: Colter Wall outside The Blue Note

The Canadian country singer — from the very lyrically-named town of Swift Current in Saskatchewan — projects a humble, rough-and-tumble vision of the West in song. Wall's songs hold deep appeal for those predisposed to classic country and listeners who simply want to lose themselves inside a narrative. Corb Lund and Noeline Hoffman share the bill. Tickets are $49.50.

Oct. 11: Stephen Wilson Jr. at The Blue Note

Indiana native Wilson calls his music "Death Cab For Country" and, indeed, these songs honor the fundamentals of country music while embracing the atmosphere and texture of indie rock. Last year's album "Son of Dad" is a sprawling epic poem to the intimacy of family. Tickets are $25-$45.

Oct. 12: The Menzingers, The Wonder Years, Liquid Mike at The Blue Note

Pop-punk glories will abound when a trio of charismatic bands team up: Veterans The Menzingers and The Wonder Years — both from Pennsylvania — join up with Michigan’s Liquid Mike, whose album “Paul Bunyan’s Slingshot” is an early 2024 highlight. Tickets are $35-$54.50.

Oct. 17: Houndmouth at Rose Music Hall

These Roots N Blues festival veterans from just outside Louisville, Kentucky chase a sound with the purity of early rock 'n' roll and serious emotional complexity. Tickets are $27.50-$30.

Oct. 18: Switchfoot at The Blue Note

This San Diego band has been making the smart person's surf rock — or is it the surfing person's smart rock? — for nearly 30 years. They'll be on hand to usher in another birthday celebration for beloved Columbia radio station 102.3 FM BXR. Tickets are $39.50-$54.50.

Nov. 2: Chat Pile at The Blue Note

Call them noise rock, sludge metal, all or none of the above: the Oklahoma City band makes music that's as dark as the heart of 21st-century America. The band will upset Columbia's balance a few weeks after the release of its forthcoming "Cool World." Agriculture and Porcelain share the bill. Tickets are $23-$45.

Nov. 3: Matt Wilson’s Good Trouble at Murry’s

Wilson, one of our great modern jazz drummers and a friend to the "We Always Swing" Jazz Series, returns to Columbia on the strength of "Good Trouble," a set that "continues his tradition of recording humorous and humanistic jazz," as AllAboutJazz's Jerome Wilson so aptly puts it. The Good Trouble band owns serious chops and an open, collaborative spirit. Visit https://www.wealwaysswing.org/season/2024-2025/ for ticket information.

Nov. 16 Amy Grant at Jesse Auditorium

Celebrating the sacred, putting hearts in motion, leaning into country: Amy Grant has done nearly everything a pop singer can, and continues expanding her sound on her way to the University of Missouri Concert Series. Tickets are $81.02-$92.12. Visit https://concertseries.missouri.edu/ for more details.

Nov. 20: Morgan Wade at The Blue Note

The Virginia singer behind hits such as "Wilder Days" returns with "Obsessed," a record that frames her assured voice with a heartland guitar glide, hints of cool synth and the radiance of torch songs; the sound is somehow country and rock and pop and yet never bows to any one genre. Madeline Edwards shares the bill. Tickets are $29.50-$49.50.

Crowd at night watching a band perform at summer music festival

Next to sporting events like the Olympics, stadium music concerts are some of the biggest live events on Earth . They can attract thousands — sometimes even millions — music fans to see the talent on display . Read on to learn about the largest concert ever , as well as some of the other most-attended concerts in history.

Current World Record: Jean Michel Jarre in Moscow (3.5 million)

  • Rod Stewart at Copacabana Beach (3.5 Million)
  • Monsters of Rock Concert in Moscow (1.6 Million)
  • Love Parade 2008 (1.6 Million)
  • The Rolling Stones at Copacabana Beach (1.5 Million)
  • Live 8 in Philadelphia (1.5 Million)

Honorable Mention: The Largest Country Music Concert

Unlike most of the rock bands on this list, Jean Michel Jarre is a French composer who made a name for himself on keyboard and became an instrumental part of the electronic and techno music scenes in the late 70's and 1980's.

Over the decades, Jarre has become one of the most popular live acts in Europe, hosting multiple shows in Paris, France, and Houston, Texas, which brought in more than a million attendees each.

His largest concert ever took place at the Moscow State University, Russia, in 1997. With an estimated attendance of 3.5 million people, the event quickly matched the record for the largest open-air concert ever performed.

Only our next entry has come anywhere close to matching that figure. Jean Michel Jarre remained the only artist to continuously hold record-breaking concerts through the 20th century.

2. Rod Stewart at Copacabana Beach (3.5 Million)

On New Year's Eve 1993, Rod Stewart traveled to Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and played to the biggest concert that country had ever seen. Official estimates for the Rod Stewart show are at 3.5 million attendees, with most of them sprawled across the beach hundreds of feet away from the stage.

This number roughly matches Jean Michel Jarre's 1997 record for the largest ticketed concert ever. With such massive crowd sizes and close margins, it's hard to say which of these is truly the largest concert ever , although some Rod Stewart fans may argue that this Copacabana Beach show is actually the one more deserving of the No. 1 spot.

3. Monsters of Rock Concert in Moscow (1.6 Million)

Monsters of Rock was a music festival through the '80s and '90s which had several concerts put on at various cities throughout the world, but the biggest concert it ever put on was featured at Tushino Airfield in Moscow, Russia. This festival can be considered historically significant because it was put on just after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.

It also featured some of the biggest rock bands of the time, including AC/DC, Motley Crue, The Black Crowes, Pantera and Metallica. With the release of The Black Album that same year, Metallica were on their way to superstardom, further evidenced by the massive crowd they pulled in Moscow.

4. Love Parade 2008 (1.6 Million)

Throughout the 90's and 2000's Love Parade was Germany's largest electronic dance music festival and probably the most popular throughout all of Europe. It reached its peak in 2008 when the Dortmund, Germany, event brought in a reported 1.6 million dance fans.

Nearly 80 DJs and bands were featured at Love Parade that year, with some big names among them being David Guetta, Digitalism, Moby, Underworld and Armin van Buuren.

5. The Rolling Stones at Copacabana Beach (1.5 Million)

Copacabana Beach in Rio has hosted not one, but two of the biggest concerts ever. In 2006, The Rolling Stones came to Rio and played for 1.5 million fans on the beach. This doesn't come close to the figure when Rod Stewart played, but it was the biggest Rolling Stones show ever and impressive in its own right.

6. Live 8 in Philadelphia (1.5 Million)

Live 8 was a massive, multicity festival with events taking place in London, Berlin, Moscow, Toronto and Philadelphia, with proceeds benefitting anti-poverty efforts in Africa. The largest of these shows was the one in Philly, which saw over a million people piling in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and spilling out into the adjacent streets.

The Philly show brought in massive acts like The Black Eyed Peas, Destiny's Child, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, Stevie Wonder and Linkin Park with Jay-Z. With names like these on the list, it's almost no surprise that it became one of the biggest concerts ever.

George Strait recently put on a record-breaking show playing for fellow lone star natives at the Texas A&M Stadium. Over 110,000 people were in attendance, making it the biggest single-act concert in U.S. history (not counting multi-act festivals). This figure edges out a record set by the Grateful Dead in 1977, who brought in 107,000 fans.

Jelly roll plays intimate hamptons show for siriusxm in front of stars bradley cooper, jon hamm, jimmy fallon and howard stern.

“I never would have thought my fat, white trash ass would be in the Hamptons,” hip hop and country star Jelly Roll said on stage in front of A-listers Bradley Cooper, Jimmy Fallon, Andy Cohen and Jon Hamm at a private SiriusXM concert at Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett.

“This is an incredible scene,” said the star, who’s based in Nashville, Tenn.

Howard Stern was also in the crowd with his wife Beth Stern, and the radio icon got special shout out from Jelly Roll, who told the crowd that going on Stern’s show was, “One of the coolest things of my life. I can check it off my bucket list. It was f–king incredible!”

The “Wild Ones” singer, 39, added: “Just like everybody else my age, I have watched [Stern’s 1997 biopic] ‘Private Parts’ about a thousand times. I think he is the greatest ever… I love you. Thank you for your time and energy always.”

Jelly Roll

The chart topper — who was nominated for two Grammys, and has racked up wins at the Country Music Association Awards and CMT Music Awards — performed his hits including “Son of A Sinner” and “Need A Favor,” as well as covers of classics including Garth Brooks’ “Friends In Low Places” and Otis Redding’s “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay.”

Andy Cohen

“I make real music for real people with real problems,” Jelly Roll said, crediting his success to his belief that, “music can heal people.”

“I believe music mends broken hearts,” he mused. “I believe music can be there for us when no one else can. In the darkest and in the best moments of our life, we can always count on music… There were moments in my life where I had nothing but music.”

He has been singing in rehabs and jails across the country.

Jelly Roll

Stern had also appeared at the famed Hamptons venue earlier for a rare interview on the “SmartLess” podcast with hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes.

The podcast’s live Hamptons taping marked the hit show’s debut on SiriusXM as part of a multiyear deal, and the episode will drop Sept. 9.

Said a source of Stern’s podcast interview: “Howard was feeling light and candid, and was his typical funny self as the ‘SmartLess’ hosts — all fans — talked to him about his incredible career.”

The insider added, “They frequently made references from the stage about how handsome Bradley Cooper is, and at one point they even pulled Jimmy Fallon up onstage.”

"SmartLess" podcast

After the show, guests were treated to a barbecue, where Jelly Roll posed for pics with fans.

SiriusXM’s concerts at the famed Hamptons venue have become a summer tradition. Ed Sheeran, Dave Matthews and Mumford & Sons have performed in the past.

Mentalist Oz Pearlman also entertained a small group of celebs before Jelly Roll hit the stage, we hear.
