The Diablo IV Season 4 PTR: What You Need to Know

The Diablo IV Season 4 PTR: What You Need to Know

Change is coming, wanderer. Do you dare immerse yourself in what lies ahead for all of Sanctuary?

The first Public Test Realm (PTR) for Diablo IV is on the horizon, offering you the chance to test upcoming changes and features for Season 4! PTR will be available from April 2 through April 9 for players with a PC Battle.net account .

The purpose of the PTR is to test updates and features alongside you before the launch of Season 4. Then we’ll take your feedback from PTR to make adjustments to Season 4 before it goes live for everyone. Your experience in Sanctuary is shaking up in a big way: here’s an overview of what you need to know.

Itemization

Helltide reborn, the pit of artificers, boss ladder updates, features offered for testing, how to provide feedback, how to install the ptr, class updates and full patch notes.

We have three guiding pillars for our itemization updates: quality over quantity, the best items having a journey of power and improvement that you can work toward, and of course, having items feel satisfying and exciting to use.

For a full list of what’s new or adjusted for Classes, check out the Class Update patch notes here , but here’s a summary of the itemization changes:

Basic Item Updates

  • Reduced number of affixes: now 3 on Legendary items, and 2 on Rare items.
  • Smaller pool of more potent affixes.
  • More relevant affixes (eg: ranks of a single Core Skill).
  • Only Sacred items in World Tier 3, only Ancestral items in World Tier 4.
  • Affix values are tuned up to be punchier; we want you (and the fiends of Sanctuary) to really feel them!
  • Resource per Second
  • Resource on Kill
  • Lucky Hit: Apply Vulnerable
  • Life per Hit
  • Basic Skill Ranks

Miscellaneous Updates

  • Legendary items dropped from enemy level 95+ are always 925 item power.
  • Gems now have Core stats, and the more conditional bonuses have been simplified.
  • Significantly reduced item drop rates (less time sorting, more time slaying!)
  • Item rerolling gold cost capped when Enchanting.
  • Material removal and consolidation.
  • Forgotten Souls can now be obtained from Whispers and are now a global rare drop from Elites.
  • Some Uniques now dropping starting in World Tier I and II.
  • All Uniques can now drop in World Tier III.
  • Uber Uniques can start dropping from monster level 55, drops at 925 item power.

New crafting system: Tempering

  • This new system will allow you to add affixes to your items at the Blacksmith through a new reusable item that can drop from most content in-game, called Temper Manuals!

sacred journey iv

  • Once gained, you retain these for unlimited use!
  • Each manual contains a handful of affixes; you are able to attach one at a time.
  • Affixes can be rerolled up to the item’s Temper Reroll limit.
  • Ancestral items can have two Tempered affixes from different categories.

sacred journey iv

Greater Affixes

  • Only appearing on Ancestral Legendary and Unique items, these are more powerful versions of normal affixes, with a 1.5x multiplier on the affix’s maximum roll.
  • eg: Helm (Ancestral) – II
  • Each affix on an item has a chance to be Greater in World Tier III & IV.
  • Players cannot Enchant into a Greater affix – they can only be found!

Masterworking

  • A late-game crafting system to upgrade items, using materials gathered from The Pit .
  • There are 12 upgrade ranks.
  • Every 4 ranks, a single affix is massively upgraded.
  • Other ranks slightly increase the value of all affixes.

sacred journey iv

Codex of Power updates

  • All Legendary Aspects now appear in the Codex of Power, so you can focus on chasing great items instead of managing your inventory.
  • The highest roll Legendary you salvage is stored in your Codex.
  • Legendary Affix ranged increase based on item tier (Normal, Sacred, Ancestral).
  • Most Legendary Affix ranges have been increased.
  • You can also favorite Legendary Aspects to make them easier to find!

A tide so nice we made it twice, here’s what’s new in the revamped Helltide event to bring the depths of Hell to the surface of Sanctuary:

Helltide Threat

  • As you battle through Helltides, you will generate Threat – how much will be determined by the difficulty of monster and how often you’re securing Tortured Gifts within Helltide. Dying will reset your Threat.
  • Achieving maximum Threat will initiate a brief ambush frenzy of maximum enemy density. The ambush will end with a final Hellborne spawn, an immensely powerful agent of Hell, resurrected from the tortured souls of Sanctuary’s most powerful champions. There are five variants representing each Class in Diablo IV.
  • Upon activating the Hellborn ambush, your Threat will reset.

sacred journey iv

Accursed Ritual

  • Baneful Hearts can primarily be earned through opening Tortured Gift chests and can be used at the Accursed Ritual location.
  • A scene of shocking gore, the Accursed Ritual is the ultimate testament to the disturbing lengths the manic Cultists will go to appease their dark wishes. It is here where you can begin the Accursed Ritual.
  • Deposit three Baneful Hearts to begin the ritual, and you will be swarmed with a dense demonic ambush. Other players within your subzone will be alerted that the ritual has begun if they wish to join you in your fight.
  • This ambush will climax with the arrival of the Blood Maiden, an immensely powerful demonic creature who will offer great reward upon her death.

sacred journey iv

World Tier I and II adjustments

  • All Tortured Gifts are Mystery Chests.
  • No roaming bosses or ambient meteors.
  • Less monster density overall compared to World Tier III and IV.

sacred journey iv

There are rumors that deep within the network of dungeons crisscrossing the north of Sanctuary, there are strange varieties of ore, perfect for crafting exceptionally crafted armor with secret Horadric techniques.

sacred journey iv

  • Upon entering World Tier IV, you’ll receive a priority Quest to complete a Tier 46 Nightmare Dungeon. Upon completion, you’ll begin to collect Runeshard during endgame activities. Collect enough Runeshard to ultimately activate the Obelisk in Cerrigar.
  • Activating the Obelisk will send you to The Pit. Your goal will be to slay enough monsters before a 10-minute timer runs out. Each player death removes time from the clock: first death removes 30 seconds, second death removes 60 seconds, third and subsequent deaths will remove 90 seconds.

sacred journey iv

  • If you slay enough monsters, a portal will appear, taking you to the boss’s arena.
  • Killing the boss with 4-6 minutes to spare grants you an additional Tier unlock.
  • Killing the boss with 6 or more minutes to spare grants you two additional Tier unlocks.
  • If the Mastery timer expires before you finish running through the Pit you’ll still receive loot, but won’t receive any Masterworking materials.
  • Only the player who opened The Pit has the chance of receiving the Materials used for summoning Tormented Echoes.

sacred journey iv

  • Summoning parts can be acquired from Beast in Ice and Lord Zir.
  • Stygian Stones are needed along with an increased amount of summoning materials, but fear not – they also drop more rewards!
  • Tormented Echoes will be level 200.
  • All items dropped are item level 925.
  • Defeating your first Tormented Echo drops one Resplendent Spark as a first-time reward (account bound).

We will have servers for PTR in our largest regions: North America, Europe, Korea and Japan, South America, and Australia. Once you log-in through Battle Net, your account will carry over the following account-based progress:

  • Campaign Completion
  • Mounts and Skill Points
  • Altar of Lilith Stat bonuses

As so many of the changes apply to the endgame, the following features will be offered:

  • Upon entering the PTR and arriving at Kyovashad, there will be an NPC named ‘PTR boost’. They will only have one dialogue option, which is Boost me to level 100’
  • 100 million gold
  • 1,000 Obols
  • Two random sets of Ancestral gear at item power 920
  • Upgraded Potions
  • Fully unlocked Paragon Glyphs
  • Up to 10 Tempering Manuals (class specific)
  • Does not include materials for resources specifically earned for Masterworking, Scattered Prisms and Resplendent Sparks.
  • Materials to enter the Pit and Nightmare Dungeons are granted.
  • Completed Class system mechanics (eg: enchantments for Sorceress, etc).
  • Note: This boost can be repeated with new characters on the PTR, and you can trade between characters as needed.
  • Fog of War will be completely cleared.
  • Additionally, regardless of whether you choose to boost your character for the PTR, Legendary drop rates will be doubled.

Some things will be missing intentionally so we can test the flows we want to keep an eye on, and the Codex of Power won’t be fully unlocked.

Your feedback on the changes you will see and experience on the PTR is incredibly important to us, and is vital in ensuring that these changes for Season 4 are the best they can be when they go live in Diablo IV proper. If you participate in the PTR, please let us know what you think!

You can provide feedback through the in-game feedback tool or the Diablo IV PTR forums . Pressing the ‘Esc’ key while in the in-game menu will bring up the ‘Report a Bug’ menu. You can select the dropdown filter and select the ‘In-game feedback tool’ to provide feedback without leaving the game.

Here are the steps to join the PTR:

  • Open the Blizzard Battle.net App and select Diablo IV from your Games list.
  • Select the option 'Public Test Realm'.
  • Click Install to Install the PTR client. This becomes a Play button when ready.
  • Click Play to log in to the PTR, and select any of the available Test Servers.
  • Create a new test character.
  • Enter the game and test Season 4!

If you’re a PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate user, you’ll be able to access the PTR through the same flow as other Battle Net users. Access the Battle Net client through the Xbox App, then continue to access the PTR through Battle Net.

There are a lot of changes coming. For a full rundown, you can see our full updates below, but if you’re looking for a tl;dr, you can expect three high-level concepts for Season 4, which will be reflected in the PTR:

  • There are many impactful Class updates. We are trying to move the needle, updating systems and designs instead of simply setting damage or health higher or lower.
  • We are making flat-damage Legendaries more viable – currently, they don’t scale at the rate we’d like, so now they scale with your Weapon Damage. We’re really interested to watch how this works out, so we’ll be monitoring your feedback both in the PTR and following the launch of Season 4 to see how we might need to change.
  • Opening up designs to be more generally useful, so you can make more connections and more builds! If you love Dust Devils on Barbarians, for example, but are frustrated at not being able to create a viable build to keep them in the deep endgame, we are making broad changes to make a build like that possible. We truly want you to play how you want to play and promote real build diversity.

Diablo 4 Season 3: All Seasonal Journey Rewards And Objectives

Completing the Seasonal Journey in Diablo 4 Season 3 will reward legendary aspects and rare materials.

By James Carr on January 23, 2024 at 3:22PM PST

Diablo 4 Season 3, Season of the Construct, has arrived, bringing fresh content to the dungeon crawler. Among the new content is the Seasonal Journey, which offers battle pass XP and other rewards for completing different milestones in the new season. While you will need to roll a new character to participate, the journey objectives are tailored to match the activities you do as you level up to 100 for the new season. Before you can move onto the next chapter of Seasonal Journey objectives, you will need to complete a certain number of objectives, which varies from chapter to chapter. Below you can find each chapter's objectives and rewards for Season 3 of Diablo 4.

Slayer (Chapter 5)

Champion (chapter 6), destroyer (chapter 7).

Each chapter offers unique rewards for completing them.

You must complete 6/8 objectives to complete this chapter.

Chapter 1 objectives:

  • Beneath The Sands: Complete 1 Dungeon in Kehjistan
  • Trouble In The Wilds: Complete 2 World Events
  • Test Of Mettle: Defeat 5 elite monsters
  • Eerie Harvest: Collect 15 Lifesbane, found only in Kehjistan
  • Waste Not: Salvage 10 Magic items at the Blacksmith
  • Soulless Threat: Defeat 100 Constructs, available after completing or skipping the campaign
  • Inauguration Of Power: Equip 1 Governing Stone to your Construct, available after completing or skipping the campaign
  • Tiny Clarity: Upgrade your Potion to Tiny at the Alchemist

Pretty much all of these objectives should be completed naturally by just playing the seasonal content. The only one that might not and could be skipped is the Trouble in the Wilds , if you choose to ignore world events as you go from objective to objective.

Chapter 1 rewards:

  • Greater Favor (battle pass XP)
  • First Journey Cache, contains Governing Stones, Tuning Stones, Shattered Stone and Iron Chunks
  • Aspect of Sundered Ground (Barbarian)
  • Virulent Aspect (Druid)
  • Shattered Spirit's Aspect (Necromancer)
  • Resistant Assailant's Aspect (Rogue)
  • Aspect of Shredding Blades (Sorcerer)

Chapter 2 objectives:

  • Ruins Reclaimed: Clear 1 Stronghold
  • Undertaker: Complete 4 Cellars
  • Finer Clarity: Upgrade your Potion to Minor at the Alchemist
  • Path To Strength: Unlock 6 Aspects in the Codex of Power, such as through completing Dungeons
  • Susurration: Open 1 Silent Chest, found randomly in Sanctuary, with a Whispering Key from the Purveyor of Curiosities
  • Wellspring Of Power: Acquire 4 Governing Stones, available after completing or skipping the campaign
  • Lapidarist Novice: Craft 1 Uncertain Seneschal Stone Cache at the Jeweler
  • A Master At Work: Complete 3 World Events with Mastery

Again, most of these objectives should come naturally as you complete the seasonal quests and activities. Susurration is a good one to skip, since Silent Chests appear randomly and there is no guaranteed way to find one.

Chapter 2 rewards:

  • Greater Favor
  • Second Journey Cache, contains Governing Stones, Tuning Stones, and Scattered Prisms
  • Devilish Aspect (Barbarian)
  • Aspect of the Alpha (Druid)
  • Aspect of Exposed Flesh (Necromancer)
  • Infiltrator's Aspect (Rogue)
  • Aspect of Frozen Orbit (Sorcerer)

You must complete 9/11 objectives to complete this chapter.

Chapter 3 objectives:

  • Touching The Eternal: Unlock 13 Aspects in the Codex of Power, such as though completing Dungeons
  • Champion Of The Lost: Clear 3 Strongholds
  • Grim Claim: Obtain 10 Caches from the Tree of Whispers by completing Whispers
  • Play For Keeps: Defeat Malphas, Keeper of the Vault, available after completing or skipping the campaign
  • Expert Deconstruction: Defeat 50 Elite Constructs, available after completing or skipping the campaign
  • Kill The Messengers: Defeat 9 Vault Heralds summoned at Braziers, available after completing or skipping the campaign
  • Plexus Array: Acquire 14 Tuning Stones, available after completing or skipping the campaign
  • Exceptional Potency: Upgrade your potion to Light at the Alchemist
  • Zoltun's Judgment: Acquire Zoltun's Warding by spending a Pearl of Warding at any Statue of Zoltun Kulle, available after completing or skipping the campaign
  • Battle Hardened: Reach level 35
  • Predator And Prey: Defeat 100 Monsters while Bloodmarked in Hostile areas

The two best objectives to skip in this chapter are Predator And Prey and Touching The Eternal . The first one requires you to participate in the PvP area, something you are otherwise never required to do and might not want to do. The second one requires you complete 13 different dungeons, which isn't particularly hard, but depending on the Aspects you need for your build, you might not care to complete that many.

Chapter 3 rewards:

  • Third Journey Cache, contains Pearls of Warding, Governing Stones, Tuning Stones and Legendary Salvage.
  • Aspect of Limitless Rage (Barbarian)
  • Aspect of the Dark Howl (Druid)
  • Blood Getter's Aspect (Necromancer)
  • Ravager's Aspect (Rogue)
  • Everliving Aspect (Sorcerer)

You need to complete 9/11 objectives to complete this chapter.

Chapter 4 objectives:

  • Quelled Hatred: Purify 1,000 Seeds of Hatred obtained in Hostile areas at an Altar of Extraction
  • The Bigger They Are: Defeat 1 World Boss
  • Hard Fought Victory: Complete 1 Legion Event
  • Scouring The Vaults: Complete 10 Vaults
  • Zoltun's Prize: Unlock 10 Wardwoven Chests by preserving Zoltun's Warding
  • Turning The Tide: Defeat 30 Vault Heralds summoned at Braziers
  • Facing Dark Terrors: Complete 1 Nightmare Vault
  • Harnessing Nightmares: Craft 1 Vault Sigil at the Occultist
  • Guilt: Defeat Echo of Varshan in World Tier 3, summoned beneath the Tree of Whispers with materials from Whisper Caches
  • Grim Reward: Obtain 20 Caches from the Tree of Whispers by completing Whispers
  • Beginning Of The End: Reach Level 55

Quelled Hatred is the PvP objective in this list, so once again, it's good to skip if that isn't for you. Another good one to skip would be either The Bigger They Are or Hard Fought Victory . Both Legion Events and World Bosses spawn based on real-world timers, so you might just not be playing when these events are happening. Legion Events happen more frequently than World Bosses.

Chapter 4 rewards:

  • Fourth Journey Cache, contains Pearls of Warding, Governing Stones, and Tuning Stones.
  • Aspect of Encroaching Wrath (Barbarian)
  • Aspect of Nature's Savagery (Druid)
  • Aspect of Serration (Necromancer)
  • Snap Frozen Aspect (Rogue)
  • Aspect of Frozen Memories (Sorcerer)

Chapter 5 objectives:

  • Blessing Of The Strong: Equip Sacred Legendary item in every slot
  • Prophecy Pluripotent: Open Tortured Gifts of 3 different types during a single Helltide
  • Heads Of The Snake: Defeat 6 Helltide Commanders during a Helltide
  • Vanquishing Hell's Best: Defeat 100 Champion Monsters
  • Overcoming Terrors: Complete 20 Nightmare Vaults
  • Zoltun's Bounty: Unlock 30 Wardwoven Chests by preserving Zoltun's Warding
  • Lapidarist Proficient: Craft 50 Uncertain Seneschal Stone Caches at the Jeweler
  • Seneschal Ascendant: Advance 1 Tuning Stone to Rank 10
  • Confronting Ancestral Terror: Complete a Tier 21 or higher Nightmare Dungeon
  • Shock And Awe: Defeat Grigoire, the Galvanic Saint in World Tier 4
  • Invasion Of Privacy: Rummage through Wardwoven Chests until you have read all of Zoltun Kulle's journal entries

The vast majority of objectives in this chapter feed into each other, but there are two you can probably skip. Shock And Awe requires you to defeat Grigoire , who is a pretty tough boss for the power level you will likely be at for this chapter. Confronting Ancestral Terror is also good to maybe skip, since you might not be strong enough to beat a dungeon of this level before completing the rest of these objectives.

Chapter 5 rewards:

  • Slayer's Cache, contains late game resources, Governing stones, Tuning Stones, Pearls of Warding, and Ancestral Legendary Items
  • Aspect of Adaptability (all classes)
  • Juggernaut's Aspect (all classes)
  • Seneschal Ideogram, Emblem

You must complete 8/10 objectives to complete this chapter.

Chapter 6 objectives:

  • Heir To Transcendence: Equip Ancestral Legendary items in every slot
  • Veteran Of Ashes: Acquire 6,666 Aberrant Cinders during Helltides
  • Harbinger Of Ice: Defeat The Beast in the Ice in World Tier 4, summoned with Distilled Fear from Tier 30 or higher Nightmare Dungeons
  • Forgiveness: Defeat Lord Zir in World Tier 4, summoned in Fractured Peaks with Exquisite Blood from World Bosses or Legion Events
  • Keeper Of Nothing: Defeat Echo of Malphas in World Tier 4, summoned in the Vault of the Loom with Pearls of Warding and Shattered Stone materials
  • Zoltun's Treasures: Unlock 50 Wardwoven Chests by preserving Zoltun's Warding
  • Panoply Of Power: Acquire all 12 Governing Stones
  • Plexus Arsenal: Acquire 25 Tuning Stones
  • Mephisto's Bane: Purify 33,333 Seeds of Hatred obtained in Hostile areas at an Altar of Extraction
  • Bastion Of Humanity: Reach Level 90

Mephisto's Bane is another PvP challenge, which makes it an easy skip. For the other one, choose either Harbinger Of Ice or Forgiveness . Depending on the activities you choose to do in Diablo 4, you might have the materials to summon one of the bosses but not the other.

Chapter 6 rewards:

  • Champion's Cache, contains late game resources, Scattered Prisms, Shattered Stone, Pearls of Warding, and Ancestra Legendary Items

You must complete 9/11 objectives to complete this season.

Chapter 7 objectives:

  • Exterminator: Defeat Echo of Duriel in World Tier 4, summoned in Kehjistan with materials from Grigoire and Varshan
  • Avatar Of Sanctuary's Might: Equip at least 8 Ancestral Unique item simultaneously
  • Glyphmaster: Improve 5 Paragon Glyphs to Rank 15 by completing Nightmare Dungeons
  • Seneschal Supremacy: Equip 4 different types of Legendary Tuning Stones that are Rank 10 to your Construct
  • Blessed Mother Departed: Defeat Echo of Lilith in World Tier 4, remembered in Nevesk
  • Not All Who Wander: Defeat 5 Seething Abomination while Bloodmarked in Hostile areas
  • Master Of The Vaults: Complete 1 Tier 90 Nightmare Vault
  • Lootmaster: Open 10 Tortured Gifts during a single Helltide in World Tier 4
  • Death Comes For Us All: Defeat the World Boss, The Wandering Death twice, in World Tier 4
  • Treasures Of The Damned: Defeat the World Boss, Avarice the Gold Cursed, in World Tier 4
  • Unyielding Scourge: Defeat the World Boss, Ashava the Pestilent, in World Tier 4

All of these challenges are difficult, endgame-level difficulty, so picking which ones to skip can be tricky. It really depends on your build and gear, but Avatar Of Sanctuary's Might will require grinding bosses, like Duriel, multiple times to actually get enough unique gear. Blessed Mother Departed requires you to beat a max level Echo of Lilith, which requires you to have a well put together build and great gear.

Chapter 7 rewards:

  • Demon's player title
  • Whisper player title
  • Destroyer's Cache, contains an amount of Shattered Stone and Pearls of Warding
  • Malphas Image emblem

How to Complete Season 2 Journey

  • Season Journey Rewards
  • How to Claim Rewards
  • Related Guides

Chapter 1 Guide

Minimum number of objectives needed.

Players only need to complete 6 out of 8 objectives to claim the reward for this chapter. With that in mind, feel free to skip the 'Complete 2 Dungeons in Dry Steppes'' and ' 'Complete 3 Priorities or Side Quests'' objectives since those take up the most time.

Focus on Whisper Dungeons or Whisper Cellars

Progressing through the seasonal questline is the fastest way to complete most of these objectives. When doing Dungeon objectives, it is best to complete Whisper Dungeons or Whisper Cellars to be more efficient. You can obtain Caches from the Tree of Whispers while completing those dungeon or cellar objectives. It will allow you to complete the ''Obtain Caches'' objective quicker in Chapter 2 as well.

Chapter 2 Guide

Rush to level 25.

Players should also rush to level 20 so that they can complete the ''Upgrade Your Potion'' and ''Craft a Gem'' objectives . It is also recommended to do World Events and Dungeons since they give a good amount of EXP early in the game.

Season 1 Leveling Guide

Chapter 3 Guide

Minimum number of objectives.

To complete Chapter 3, we'll have to complete at least 10 out of 13 objectives. Most of the objectives in Chapter 3 involves playing through openworld content such as Blood Harvest, Strongholds, and Tree of Whispers.

Carry a Silent Key

This is a free bonus that you can potentially clear if you're lucky enough while exploring the map. If you happen to encounter a Silent Chest, you'll be immediately able to clear one objectives without issues.

Farm in Blood Harvest Areas

Several objectives require you to do Blood Harvest activities. Reputation Level, Blood Blisters, Vampiric Powers to Level 2, Blood Seekers, and upgrade materials to add pacts to your gear all revolve around Blood Harvest activities. With these, you'll be able to clear 4 objectives straight away.

Chase Tree of Whispers Activities

There are Tree of Whispers activities that you can do while in a Blood Harvest but once you clear all the objectives you can do from those, we highly recommend focusing on Tree of Whispers more so than the Blood Harvest themselves. Not only can you clear the 5 caches requirement, you'll also be able to farm some materials while roaming the map which in turn, can be used to craft elxirs and upgrading your potion which are three objectives in total.

Complete Strongholds, Dungeons, and Reach Nightmare Tier

The last three objectives will be beneficial for your long term journey through Season 2. Clearing Strongholds will allow you to unlock new dungeons so we highly recommend clearing Strongholds that have aspects related to your character to get more Codex Aspects and get you started on a proper build to Nightmare Tier. Once done, clear more dungeons to unlock more Aspects for your Class then clear the Cathedral of Light and reach Nightmare Tier. This will be equivalent to 10 objectives (11 if you open a Silent Chest) and give you a good amount of aspects as well to progress through World Tier 3.

Chapter 4 Guide

To complete the Chapter 4 of Season's 2 journey, you'll have to complete 9 out of the 11 objectives and these objecitves involve tackling gear upgrades to max, nightmare dungeon delving, and defeating uber bosses.

Complete Nightmare Dungeons

Progressing Nightmare Dungeons is a great way to farm gear and level up your character which in turn, allows you to get better items to push higher tiers much easier. Your initial goal is to improve a glyph to level 4 and clearing a tier 10 dungeon as these are the difficulty based content from chapter 4. This can get you to at least 3 objectives at once together with the 5 nightmare sigil requirement.

Return to Blood Harvest Zones

Blood Seeker Council, Vampiric Power to 3, and Pacts are all from Blood Harvest. You'll need to equip a gear with 5 identical pacts as well which can easily be done by removing all pacts from an item and replacing it with one type of your chosen pacts. However, for the other requirements, a decent amount of farming will be needed.

To find a Blood Seeker Council, you'll need to spend 150 Blood Lures to summon them by using the three 50 Blood Lure pedestals. Vampiric Power upgrades will vary but it mainly revolves around farming Potent Blood until you can get a power to level 3 so make sure to decide which powers you'll want to upgrade and focus on those solely when they appear as choices on your upgrade list. Once these are completed, you'll have another 3 objectives for your chapter 4 journey.

Defeat a World Boss

World Bosses are easy to defeat and just joining one battle will be enough to complete the current objective. Refer to our timer to know when the next World Boss will spawn!

World Boss Timer, Time Schedule and Locations

Upgrade a Gear to Level 4

This is one of the easier Objectives to complete for Chapter 4 which simply requires you to upgrade two items to level 4. With a decent amount of farming and salvaging.

Kill a Player or Defeat 1 Targeted Boss

If you have a friend that plays Diablo 4's season 2, it can be as simple as asking that player to join in the fields of Hatred and defeat him to complete the objective. An alternative is to defeating one of the two targeted boss that you'll need to summon in their respective dungeon. We recommend tackling these bosses after reaching World Tier 4 as the materials you need to summon these can be obtained from activities in this World Tier.

Slayer Guide

To complete the Slayer set of achievements on Season's 2 journey, you'll have to complete 10 out of the 12 objectives and these objecitves involve tackling gear upgrades to max, nightmare dungeon delving, and defeating uber bosses. Most of the content in this journey is at the end-game so prepare for some farming.

Get to Torment While Farming on Blood Harvest

Our main goal is to ensure that we'll be able to get to Torment to start getting more materials we'll need for crafting Elixirs and upgrading our Vampiric Powers. These are the easiest to do and once you can get to Torment, you'll naturally be facing lvl 75+ enemies which is roughly the same difficulty as a Tier 20 Nightmare dungeon. From these, you'll be able to clear 5 objectives by crafting the Elixir, Level 10 Reputation, Torment 4 unlock via Fallen Temple, and two level 3 vampiric powers, and farming pact items to be able to equip an item piece 5 pacts of the same type.

Craft a Flawless Gem

Another easy objective is to craft a Flawless Gem. This is much easier to do due to the gem fragment rework as opposed to combining smaller gems into stronger ones.

Open Helltide Chests

One of the objectives for the Season Journey is to open 6 different Helltide Chests and is one of the easier objectives to do. Simply farm up Shards and open different chest types to complete it and lessen one more objectives you need to do.

Equip a Sacred Legendary Item in Every Slot

This one is another easy objective to do as long as you're already in Torment as Legendaries will start being common in this level. Just farm up a decent amount of legendaries then equip a sacred in each slot then remove them all after. Note that this also applies to Ancient rarity so don't restrict yourself to replacing ancient tier items with sacred ones to complete the objective.

Compelte a Tier 20 Nightmare Dungeon

Once you're in torment, a Tier 20 Nightmare Dungeon is easy to do as it will have the same level as the enemies you'll encounter in this world tier.

Purify 5000 Seeds of Hatred

Purfiying 5000 Seeds of Hatred is not as difficult as it seems. However, try to avoid farming everything at once and only redeem the Seeds after certain milestones to avoid a potential loss over other player invades.

Champion Guide

Reach at least level 90.

The Champion Season Journey already revolves around optimizing your build and needing to be level 80 at minimum to get specific objectives. We highly recommend farming the necessary aspects and gear with the right stats for your current build to ensure that you'll be able to tackle the objectives needed for this chapter. One of the objectives also require you to reach level 90 which makes this a great goal to focus on while clearing other objectives.

Season 2 Best Builds Tier List (Patch 1.2.0)

Farm up the Materials to Upgrade your Potion

You'll need to be able to upgrade your potion to Major Healing potion to clear one of the objectives and this is one of the easier objectives to do on this chapter. Mainly explore different maps and examine bushes or clear Tree of Whispers to get some potion crafting materials from the cache.

Acquire 5000 Cinders During Helltide

Helltide is a great source of Experience as you can get exp from opening chests while battling huge hordes of monsters that are higher leveled than you. This will allow you to level your character while also clearing an objective and being able to gather new legendaries as well as Living Steel.

Defeat Every World Boss in Toerment World Tier

This one will take some time to complete as the World Boss spanws are time gated. We highly recommend being up to date with the World Boss spawn timer to be able to clear this objective much easier.

Clear a Tier 50 Nightmare Dungeon

A Tier 50 Nightmare Dungeon will contain level 100 enemies. This should be doable at the mid 80s and a well optimized build. Also be sure to check the available affixes of the dungeon to ensure that you'll be able to reduce the dungeon's difficulty by choosing affixes that synergize with your current build.

Upgrade 5 Vampiric Powers to Level 3

If you haven't yet, be sure to farm up some Potent Blood on Blood Harvest Events to get the necessary upgrade materials to upgrade some more of your Vampiric Powers. Try to prioritize Vampiric Powers that your build uses to ensure that you can maximize the value of the Potent Blood you are spending and be able to tackle more difficult content.

Defeat Summoned Bosses

We recommend clearing all the said objectives above first before proceeding with the Summoned Bosses to ensure a more smooth playthrough. All these Bosses can be summoned in different ways and they require different materials.

Uber Bosses: New Endgame Bosses and Loot Tables

Destroyer Guide

Season Journey Explained

To complete the Destroyer set of achievements on Season's 2 journey, you'll have to complete 7 out of the 9 objectives and these objecitves involve the absolute end-game and the last type of content you can do for Season of Blood. Effectively completing this season journey would mark your completion of the entire Season of Blood's content.

Defeat Duriel

Duriel is one of the new uber bosses and is the most difficult Uber Boss among the latest Uber Boss addition into the game. Duriel can also drop Uber uniques which makes defeating Duriel an very worthwhile endeavor to complete. To summon Duriel, you'll need to use two Mucus-Slick Egg and Shard of Agony which can be obtained by slaying Varshan and Grigoire respectively.

Commit to a Full on Tortured Gift Helltide Run

You'll want to open 10 Tortured Gifts in a single Helltide. You'll have to focus on flash farming enemies (quick usage of AoE then running to the next mob group to do the same thing and repeat) and opening all the chests and prioritizing low shard requirement chests like armor piece Tortured Gift chests.

Purify 22,222 Seeds of Hatred

Farming up 22,222 Seeds of Hatred is actually not that difficult. Just remember to not gather a huge amount immediately and redeem them partially to avoid a potential loss of big progress from enemy invades.

Defeat 12 World Bosses

World Bosses is a great source of high item power level items (925 base item power) so we highly recommend doing World Bosses even if not for the Objectives.

World Boss Timer

Reach Reputation Level 18 in the Blood Harvest

One more easy objective to do is to reach Level 18 in the Blood Harvest event. This can be done by repeatedly doing Blood Harvest events.

Defeat Echo of Lilith

Lilith has been a much easier boss to defeat due to Season 2's update and we highly recommend aiming for an Uber Lilith clear for a much easier season 2 journey completion.

Improve 5 Paragon Glyphs to Rank 21

The Objective that requires a lot of dungeon clearing. You can focus on farming on several Nightmare Dungeons and upgrading Glyphs until 21. This will be a long grind but its the last reliable method that you can do without relying on several unique drops or being able to clear a tier 90 dungeon. However, if you can one of the two said objectives, we highly recommend focusing on those instead as farming for 5 level 21 glyhps will take a long while to do.

Complete a Tier 90 Dungeon or Equip 8 Uniques

The rest of the objectives can be done only if you have a good drop from Unique items as you can just equip any uniques you have and unequip them later while Tier 90 dungeons will involve defeating very high leveled enemies and are very unreliable to do unless you already meet the requirement of having a character strong enough to clear the said dungeon. However, if you can do this, you can skip out on one or two other objectives that are more reliable to clear such as 5 Glyphs to Rank 21 or defeating Duriel or Lilith.

Season 2 Journey Rewards

List of rewards by chapter, complete to unlock the abattoir of zir event.

Upon completion of your Season 2 Journey, you can take on the Abattoir of Zir . This is an endgame event starting on December 5, 2023 where players can take on up to 25 tiers of dungeons that increase in difficulty.

Abattoir of Zir Event Explained

How to Claim Season 2 Journey Rewards

A shiny gold and red horse from Diablo 4 season 3

The Season Journey is, essentially, a list of objectives propelling you through each Diablo 4 season. In exchange for Favor (which is XP for your Battle Pass), the Season Journey will tell you to complete Cellars, upgrade your potions, and do a bunch of other things in-game that you’re probably already doing.

But the Season Journey is more than just individual objectives; it’s grouped up into chapters that get progressively harder as you go along. Completing most of the objectives in a single chapter unlocks the following chapter and earns you a powerful collection of bonuses, like new Legendary Aspects, a chest of gear or crafting materials, and a large hunk of Favor.

In season 3, Season of the Construct , Blizzard untethered the story from the Season Journey objectives, meaning you don’t have to reach a certain chapter in order to continue the seasonal quest.

In this Diablo 4 guide, we’ll list out all of the Season Journey objectives for season 3 — and each chapter’s rewards — for your convenience.

Season Journey season 3 chapter 1 objectives and rewards

Chapter 1 of the Season Journey for Diablo 4 season 3 is meant to be an introduction to the system, and is very simple to complete. It features objectives like collecting herbs, activating your Seneschal Construct, and upgrading your potion.

  • Trouble in the Wilds : Complete 2 World Events
  • Eerie Harvest : Collect 15 Lifesbane, found only in Kehjistan

Want to learn about Diablo 4 Season 3 Journey ? As players prepare to dive into Sanctuary’s latest batch of challenges in Season 3, prepare for a familiar way to progress through the game’s battle pass. With both free and premium tiers, players who bought the base game can try out the battle pass before committing to a paid tier.

If you’re looking to bring the fight to Lilith and her demons in Diablo 4 Season 3, you need to know everything you can. Season 3 brings in the new Seneschal Companion to join you, and new Vault Dungeons to explore. The new Seasonal Journey can also earn you sweet rewards to help you out. These apply to all five of Diablo 4’s classes: Barbarian, Druid, Sorcerer, Necromancer, and Rogue. Read on to begin your Season Journey in Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 Season Journey: An image of the menu from the game showing the Season Journey objectives.

What is the Season Journey in Diablo 4 Season 3?

The Season Journey lets Diablo 4 Season 3 players complete objectives that count toward the battle pass and offer additional rewards. Season 3 called the Season of the Construct, brings in new objectives. They are broken up into seven chapters, with increasingly difficult challenges. Luckily, players don’t have to complete all objectives in a chapter to receive its rewards. Each chapter only needs a certain number of completed objectives. Chapters can only be completed once per Season per account.

Season Journey objectives list in Diablo 4 Season 3

Season Journey objectives can only be finished in the Seasonal Realm. Characters created in the Eternal Season before Season 3 will not be able to complete these objectives. You’ll need to create a new seasonal character to begin your Diablo 4 Season Journey. Remember that all your Diablo 4 renown carries over this time. That means you start with bonus skill points, paragon points, potion charges, and obol capacity upgrades. If you’re looking for more renown, you’ll have to clear Strongholds, finish Dungeons, and side quests again.

Progressing in the Season Journey nets you Favor and Chapter Rewards. The former helps you progress through the new Diablo 4 battle pass . And the latter can be anything from more Favor to Caches of loot and Legendary Aspects.

Here’s a list of all Diablo 4 Season Journey objectives in Season 3.

And that covers the Diablo 4 Season 3 Journey. Remember that these Season Journey rewards are in addition to the free and premium battle pass rewards. While they do not provide Diablo 4 renown, the battle pass offers sweet rewards for those willing to complete its challenges.

There’s plenty to find in Season 3 of Diablo 4, so be sure to check out how The Gauntlet leaderboard system works to be prepared for everything Season 3 of Diablo 4 has to offer.

Diablo 4: Sacred and Ancestral Items, Explained

Getting better loot is at the heart of Diablo 4's gameplay loop, and the addition of Sacred and Ancestral gear drives that point hard.

Quick Links

What are sacred and ancestral items, how to get max item level gear.

Diablo 4 is all about getting loot, and the new item system in the franchise's latest entry offers a fresh way to chase after that next big upgrade. It's a small but significant change, and players won't be able to experience it until they reach the early parts of the endgame.

Diablo 4's Gauntlet Mode Explained

As players make progress with their characters in Diablo 4 , they will eventually encounter two new categories of loot that will play important parts in their builds. There are some important things to know about these items, and this guide aims to cover all of them.

Updated March 27, 2024 by Marc Santos : The categorization of gear in Diablo 4 has remained the same throughout its seasons, and it's expected to stay the same throughout Season of the Construct. Sacred and Ancestral gear still drop in higher World Tiers, though the game did receive updates on how frequently players can better versions of these equipment. This guide has been updated to include a section explaining the best way to earn max item level gear in Diablo 4 for those who want an easier time min-maxing their characters.

Sacred and Ancestral items are vastly superior versions of the common gear pieces players get during their journey from levels 1 through 50. These are essentially new item tiers that only drop on higher difficulties—Sacred items start dropping on World Tier 3, while Ancestral gear only appears on World Tier 4 .

The main difference between the three item tiers is their relative power levels in terms of raw stats. Naturally, as players progress through Diablo 4's power curve, they're going to start needing stronger gear to beat higher-level enemies. Sacred gear is better than normal ones, while Ancestral items are the best that players can equip on their character.

Items of all rarities , including ordinary white items to Uniques, have Sacred and Ancestral versions. Also, playing in higher difficulties won't always guarantee that a higher-tier item will drop. Players will still be at the mercy of RNG, but completing activities like Nightmare Dungeons or opening Tortured Gifts during Helltides tend to reward better gear than normal loot sources typically would.

Diablo 4: The Unwritten Rules of Playing a Sorcerer Explained

Apart from having better base stats, Rare-tier Sacred and Ancestral items have one more affix than their regular Rare counterparts. They also get better minimum and maximum affix rolls, though item category isn't strictly the only factor that affects how high these stats can roll.

There's currently no way to upgrade a weapon from tier to tier, but players can improve their Sacred and Ancestral as they normally would in town Blacksmiths. Upgrade costs might get expensive, however, so mind those resources.

Keep in mind that while an Ancestral item will always have better stats than a Sacred or normal one, players should still be mindful of the affixes that they come with. There will be times when a Sacred Helmet is better than an Ancestral one if it means players get to enjoy more ranks into their Skills or better resistances against the element they are weakest to. Additionally, a Sacred item piece can be upgraded to compete with Ancestral gear — if players can get an item to reach a high-enough gear level, then it can still be useful well into the late game.

An item's level determines the quality of its affixes. Higher-level gear can roll with better stats, assuming they pass Diablo 4's specific item level breakpoints . While you have a chance to get high iLvl gear while farming normally, you'll have a better time getting the gear you want by killing World and Uber bosses.

World bosses respawn every 3.5 hours, and the game will always notify you once one is about to spawn. On the other hand, Uber bosses can be challenged at any time, provided you have the materials needed to enter their domains. The Echo of Malphas fight has a particularly high chance of rewarding players with item level 925 equipment.

Diablo 4 Vault Guide (Season 3)

The Vault: A New Dungeon Filled With Danger, Traps, and Awesome Rewards!

NeviriahAvatar

Introduction

With each new update, Diablo 4 is adding more challenges and engaging content. One of the most exciting additions of Season 3, the Season of the Construct , is the Vault: A new type of dungeon that will test your skills and luck in a deadly environment.

Understanding the Vault – Access and Types

The Vault is a new dungeon where you will navigate hazards, traps, and face hordes of Constructs to uncover treasures. There are four types of Vaults, accessible through the Gatehall , a new Hub situated in Kehjistan . The fifth Vault is the Vault of the Loom, in which Malphas resides.

sacred journey iv

You will have to fight your way through the corridors in order to reach the loot room. As you navigate your way through the dungeon, make sure to watch out for traps!

Vault gates can also be found in the open world . You may see them on the map; they resemble dungeons. Entering will take you into a tiny dungeon with a gate at the end that leads you into a vault.

sacred journey iv

Vault Features

Vaults are randomly generated and will contain Constructs, hazards, and traps. At the start of the Vault , you can interact with a Statue of Zoltun Kulle to gain stacks of Zoltun’s Warding.

Zoltuns Warding - Buff Statue

The goal is to avoid getting hit and make it to the loot room with at least one remaining Warding stack. Each hit costs you a stack . Dodging traps not only keeps you safe, but also rewards you with extra chests and loot at the end. The Vault is designed to be highly rewarding for successful completion. However, it is difficult to not get hit , so make sure to stay alert!

To acquire Zoltun’s Warding buff, you need Pearls of Warding and offer them to the statue . One Pearl grants you 10 stacks . You can save Pearls to maximize stacks for better Vault runs. We recommend saving as many Pearls as possible so that you can use multiple ones during a run. Having enough stacks of the buff increases your odds of making it to the end of the Vault with at least one stack left, as It can be challenging to dodge all of the hazards and traps. You can have up to 999 stacks of Zoltun’s Warding, which requires spending 100 pearls on the statue in a single run. That said, if you leave the Vault before completing it, you will lose all of your Zoltun’s Warding stacks.

Completing a run with at least one stack remaining will unlock additional rewards, including better loot. At World Tier 3, you can obtain Vault Sigils to enter Nightmare Vaults, which are even more dangerous but also more rewarding. Vault Sigils can also be crafted at the Occultist .

Pearls of Warding

Pearls are key to improved Vault rewards. Offering a pearl to the Statue of Zoltun Kulle gives you 10 stacks of Zoltun’s Warding. Completing the dungeon with at least one Warding left unlocks an additional chest with better loot. Pearls can also be used to craft Vault Sigils.

Pearl of Warding - Materials Tab

There are two different ways to obtain Pearls of Warding:

  • Defeating Elite Constructs
  • Defeating Herald Constructs during Arcane Tremors

Arcane Tremor – World Event

The Arcane Tremor is a world event that pops up in specific open-world areas for a limited time. Similar to Blood Harvests from Season 2, Tremors contain multiple small objectives to complete. You will need to defeat constructs and collect Arcane cores from Obelisks in the Arcane Tremor zones. Once you have collected enough cores, you can summon the Herald Construct boss by placing the cores inside a brazier (located within the zone), defeat it, and earn Pearls of Warding, Shattered Stones, and other loot. Defeating the Herald Construct will end the event.

Look for this icon on the word map to see which zone is currently affected by Arcane Tremors:

Arcane Tremors Map Icon

Defeating constructs in Arcane Tremors also provides parts to upgrade your Seneschal companion.

Vault Rewards

Completing the Vault with no Warding stacks left rewards you with minor chests containing Legendary items, a guaranteed Tuning Stone, and other small rewards. If you finish with at least one Warding stack, you can open the Wardwoven Chest, offering Governing and Tuning stones, more Legendary items, and a chance at rarer loot.

Furthermore, defeating the Vault’s final encounter will also drop a chest with a guaranteed legendary item from level 26 onwards. Additionally, these chests have a 35% chance of dropping another legendary.

sacred journey iv

We recommend aiming to finish with as many Warding stacks as possible for better loot at the end of your vault run.

The Vault is an exciting addition to Diablo 4, offering not only fun and thrilling dungeon experiences but also a necessary connection to the new world event, Arcane Tremors. It is a cycle of rewards: loot obtained from one Arcane Tremors, enhances efficiency in subsequent Vault runs. Overall, Vaults serve as an excellent means to boost your loot collection, and increase your chances of obtaining rare items for a stronger build. Happy Vault exploring!
