“What a treat!”

I spent a wonderful day across Kekova Bay with this Bermuda Kas boat trip tour. The bay is truly fantastic: cristalline water, hidden beaches and canyons, ancient lycian ruins and postcard-pictoresque village of Kalekoy. The Bermuda staff made sure everything was smooth and very very relaxing for us guests. They are professional and nice, plus they provide a really nice and abundant turkish meal.

“Gorgeous Trip in Paradise”

Captain Engin is the perfect host. His boat has every luxury a tourist could ask for including fresh showers after the swim and delicious Turkish tea. The trip takes guests to fascinating places such as the sunken city and beautiful Lycian seaside villages. This tour features snorkeling and turtle watching. The canyon snorkeling was a favorite because of the exotic fish and coral reefs. The BBQ lunch served by Captain Engin and his friendly staff was delicious Turkish food and a variety of meze dishes along with the chicken shish kebab. I am planning to go again tomorrow. Kas is a paradise and Captain Engin shows guests the best of the best!! Happy Sailing!

“Superb day out”

We have taken a number of daily boat tours of Kekova from Kas and this is one of the best. From the outset the Captain and crew were very helpful, the boat was spotless and well maintained and we were made extremely welcome from the moment of boarding. We set off at 10am and headed to a small bay where we moored and were able to take the first swim of the day. From here we set off to Aquarium bay where we dropped anchor for another swim followed by a great lunch; fresh BBQ chicken, salad, rice, beans, vegetables, garlic yogurt and spinach, plus lots more. After lunch we toured along the sunken city then headed for Simena island and Kalakoy where we were able to tour the island and visit the castle. From here we motored past Ucagiz harbour onto Akvaryum bay for another dip in the sea then finally back to Kas arriving around 18:30. An extremely pleasant and relaxing day with great crew and company. We highly recommend this tour amongst the many available in Kas.

“Great way to spend a day”

My friends and I wanted to take a boat tour during our stay in Kas. There are MANY boat tours offered at the marina next to the town center. The folks at our pension recommended Bermuda Boat and we could not have been happier. We were advised by the owner of the pension that some of the boats offering tours were very big and somewhat impersonal (50+ people). Other tours were on small boats and with <10 people. The Bermuda Boat was mid-sized and had space for about 30 people. It was not too big and not too small. We had space to move around and be in different parts of the boat while the boat was en route to another stop. There was music playing in the background but it was not loud.

The food prepared for lunch on the boat was really, really good.

During the summer holidays, I started providing boat trips on my family’s boat in Kas and I was hooked. There was no going back! Straight after graduation I decided to follow my passion for boating and I have had no regrets. Fortunately my wife also has a deep love for the sea and is an essential member of our crew.

Kas is a cute town on the Turkish coast, known for its beautiful turquoise bays, and the best way to explore some of them is by going on a boat tour. There are plenty of options to choose from, but one of the most famous is the Kas-Kekova Boat tour.

The best thing is there are options for every budget! If you want more privacy and a customized itinerary, opt for a private tour, but if you wish to enjoy these beautiful bays without spending too much, take a shared boat tour. That’s what we did!

Kekova boat tour itinerary

Our itinerary of the Kas-Kekova boat tour at the end of October was a bit different because of shorter days and more chilly weather. It was still very much enjoyable, though! 

Even though our itinerary was slightly different than what it would look like in the summer, it still included all of the stops and sights:

• Aquarium Bay (lunchtime)
• Simena Castle 
• Yaglica Bay (Pine Bay)

On the way, we passed through two sunken cities in the Kekova area. 

• Sunken City of Kekova
• Sunken City of Theimussa

RECOMMENDED

1. Inonu Bay

Inonu Bay is a beautiful long and narrow bay with a small sandy beach at the end. When we visited some people decided to set up a small camp there. 😀

2. Aquarium Bay

Aquarium Bay is unique because it’s tucked between two islands, and it looks more like a lagoon with insanely turquoise water.

It’s one of the best spots for diving in the region as the water is so clear and full of wildlife (hence the name). The deepest part of this bay is only 12 meters, and you can see all the way to the bottom, even from the boat.

3. Simena Castle

Simena Castle, also known as Kalekoy (castle village), is an example of one of the smaller Lycian cities. The castle is located on the hill and overlooks Gokkaya Bay offering amazing views. 

On the way to the Castle, you’ll pass through narrow streets, which sometimes seem like you’re entering someone’s house. 😀 From the harbor to the castle, everything is full of small shops and restaurants that just wait for tourists that come on boat trips. 

Travel tip: Keep in mind that the stop here is just 1 hour, so if you plan to visit the castle, do that first and then check out the shops. Otherwise, you won’t have enough time for both.

4. Sunken cities on the Kas-Kekova boat tour

Cruising this part, the sunken city of Kekova and Theimussa are seen. Swimming and diving here are not allowed, but it’s easy to see its ruins due to the clear water.

5. Yaglica Bay

Yaglica Bay is enclosed on three sides by rocky cliffs. The entrance to the bay is narrow, so only a few boats can pass at the same time, and that’s what makes this bay so unique.

This is another amazing spot for snorkeling and swimming.

What to expect from the shared Kas-Kekova Boat Trip?

Expect scenic views, lots of swimming and jumping in the turquoise water (seriously, the color of water here is crazy), sunbathing, and learning a bit of the history of the Kekova area while admiring the ruins.

All in all, the fun on the Shared Kekova Boat Trip is guaranteed!

You’ll be on a middle-sized 24 m-long boat called a Gulet with about 20-30 others. There were a lot of sunbeds on top of the deck, and there was enough space for everyone. The boat wasn’t fully booked during our trip, so we were all on the top deck.

Down you can find tables where you’ll have lunch and a bar with different kinds of refreshments. 

There’s a comfy, covered couch area in the front part, perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy the view ahead in the shadow. 

The boats are equipped with everything you might need; there are showers (open ones at the back of the boat – offering a pretty cool scenic view :D) and toilets.

What is the price of the Kas-Kekova shared boat tour?

The price of a shared Kekova boat tour at the end of October was about 20 euros, but in the season (April – August/September), it is around 45 euros per person.

What is included in the Kekova boat tour?

The Kekova boat tour includes a small breakfast (cake and tea) and lunch. Unfortunately, the Simena Castle entrance ticket is not included, but it’s only about $1.5 per person anyway.

Travel tip: There’s an option of vegetarian or vegan lunch, but you need to let them know beforehand, and they will be happy to fix it up for you. If you’re on a vegan/plant-based diet, make sure to let them know which ingredients exactly you can’t have, just in case.

Best time to do a boat tour in Kas

Kas’s season for boating lasts from March/April until the end of November. The high season is from June until September, so expect higher prices and more crowds.

At the end of October, when we were there, the weather was perfect – plenty of sunshine, but not too hot or too cold. The sea was already a bit colder, but it was still very much enjoyable to swim. There were no huge crowds at this time, and the Kekova boat was half empty, which made this experience even better.

Our experience at the Shared Kekova Boat tour with Captain Ergun

We loved the Kekova boat tour , as it offers a great mix of everything.

We had a great time. Our favorite part of the whole boat trip was jumping and swimming in the beautiful turquoise bays of the Kas area.

If you’d ask us, we’d stop on each spot even longer, but then we’d never come back to the harbor. 😀

Next time, we’d even opt for a multi-day tour, as this seems like a perfect area for that.

The owner and captain (obviously), Captain Ergun, and his wife, the Assistant Captain, are really lovely, and you can see that they genuinely love what they’re doing.

He explained everything about the area during our tour in perfect English, so everything was easy to understand. The tour was in English and Turkish, and we think that’s really cool, as no one was left out. If you’re interested in some fabulous drone shots, they also provide that service. 👍

We highly recommend one of Captain Ergun’s boat tours in the Kas area. Missing out on the stunning bays, as well as historic sites, would be a shame.

Kekova Island and Sunken City

Discover the fascinating secrets of Kekova’s history on this unique adventure around the Sunken City. The ancient city of Dolchiste was flooded due to an earthquake in the 2nd century, and its resulting underwater ruins never fail to leave an impression. Since this is a protected area, swimming is not permitted here, so what better way to explore the site than by cruising alongside the ruins on our boat with a glass window at the bottom, giving you a chance to capture unforgettable photos?

Simena Castle

Entrance fee : 4 euros (or free with Museum Pass Turkey or Mediterranean Museum Pass ).

Our boat will drop anchor in Kaleköy port (ancient Simena) for one hour, giving you time to visit this small authentic village which is home to castle ruins and a necropolis. A hike up the hillside will provide you with magnificent views of the Kekova region. If you’d prefer to admire Simena Castle from down below, you can use your remaining time to take another dip in the gorgeous blue waters.

Esmeralda Bay

Time for a lunch and swim break at beautiful Esmeralda Bay, where you can enjoy peace and tranquillity during this fun journey.

After your fascinating trip on the water, our boat will drop anchor in Demre port, where your tour continues with a visit to a nearby museum.

The Ancient City of Myra

Duration: 1 hour Entrance fee: 13 euros (or free with Museum Pass Turkey or Mediterranean Museum Pass )

Your chance to discover Demre’s most famous archaeological site! A true step back in history as you observe some of Myra’s most significant ancient ruins dating as far back as the 5th century B.C. There is plenty of time to explore the two highlights of this stop: a Roman-style theatre (the largest in Lycia!) and eerie rock-cut tombs carved into the cliffs above.
