CM, minister take inaugural ride as double-decker buses launched

The buses will be operational on the route for the vibrant gujarat global summit (vggs) which will be held this week..

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched two Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) air-conditioned double-decker electric buses, which will ply between Mahatma Mandir and GIFT (Gujarat International Finance Tec) City from Monday.

The buses will be operational on the route for the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) which will be held this week. After that, the service will be available on the Sarkhej- Gandhinagar -GIFT City route, according to a government statement.

The inaugural ride of the bus was taken by the Chief Minister, Minister of State for Transport Harsh Sanghavi, GIFT City chairman Hasmukh Adhia and GIFT City Managing Director Tapan Ray, Additional Chief Secretary (Ports, Transport, Revenue) MK Das and GSRTC MD MA Gandhi.

Have you always wanted to travel across Mumbai in a red, double-decker bus? Well, sadly that dream can’t be a reality since the city has bid farewell to their iconic public transport. However, you can now explore another big city in India in a double-decker bus. On 7th January, Gujarat CM Bhupendrabhai Patel inaugurated two double-decked electric buses in Gandhinagar and here’s everything you need to know about it.

Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the inauguration of two air-conditioned double-decker electric buses in Gandhinagar. The Chief Minister along with Harsh Sanghavi, Minister of State for Transport was seen enjoying the inaugural ride of the double-decker bus in the city.

The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) launched these red, double-decker buses for the public on 8th January 2024. They will operate between Mahatma Mandir and GIFT (Gujarat International Finance Tec) City. For now, these buses will be operational only on the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) route that is being held this week. Later, these buses will be operational on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar-GIFT City route.

According to an official statement, GSRTC plans to purchase five such modern double-decker AC electric buses, two of which have already hit the road. These buses have a 231 kW battery and are made in India. The global company Switch Mobility is supervising and guiding the production of these batteries. These electric buses can be fully charged in just one and a half hours.

Electric buses are the future of public transportation and adding beautiful aesthetics to them just makes them even more attractive! Way to go, Gujarat!
