Fujikura Atmos Blue Shaft Review – Specs, Flex, Weight
We continue to work our way through the lauded Fujikura Atmos line of shafts with the following review of the Fujikura Atmos Blue.
The Fujikura Atmos Blue was designed to provide a middle ground between the Fujikura Atmos Black and Fujikura Atmos Blue Red shafts.
As you can imagine from that broad description alone, the Fujikura Atmos Blue is supposed to offer mid spin and mid launch.
Does it live up to the hype? What kind of player would this shaft best suit? Let’s talk about it.
Fujikura Atmos Blue Shaft Overview
At the end of the day, the Fujikura Atmos Blue may actually be the Atmos shaft with the broadest appeal.
At least, that’s what it was designed for. This shaft has a pretty nice look overall: a simple black background with what appear to be cells separating from one another adorning the butt section.
Of course, these amoeba are blue and are juxtaposed to the “Atmos” lettering in white.
Simple and effective, if not a little busy-looking. Beyond the appearance, the Fujikura Atmos Blue offers a smooth transition; but with a definite whip.
Keep in mind that the heaviest offering for the Fujikura Atmos Blue (excluding tour spec’d editions) is 75 grams. So overall, it’s a pretty lightweight shaft. Still, even the whip is smooth and manageable.
And we suspect that a broad array of mid-tier players and even high handicappers will actually benefit from the action.
The Fujikura Atmos Blue certainly feels more alive than, say, the Fujikura Atmos Black. However, we were really impressed with the forgiveness of this shaft.
When we swung outside of ourselves and achieved a less than perfect face angle, we weren’t seeing any nasty hooks.
Why is the Fujikura Atmos Blue So Popular?
We can see why the Fujikura Atmos Blue is the most popular shaft in the Atmos family.
It is easy enough to manage for high handicappers and it gives more powerful swingers the forgiveness they need.
It’s very likely that both mid and high handicappers will love the feel of the Fujikura Atmos Blue and benefit mightily from the performance it offers.
How Does the Fujikura Atmos Blue Perform?
One of the things that really impressed us about the Fujikura Atmos Blue was that it yielded very similar spin rates to the Fujikura Atmos Black, which is a noticeably stouter shaft.
The spin rates we were getting ranged from 1700 to high 1800 RPMs.
This really surprised us because the Fujikura Atmos Blue is significantly more active than the Fujikura Atmos Black – especially in the lighter flex versions.
However, perhaps it shouldn’t have surprised us all that much. The Atmos Red, Black and blue shafts all have the same butt stiffness.
In addition to similar spin rates, the Atmos blue also yielded similar distance to the Atmos Black. With the Fujikura Atmos Blue, we were averaging carry distances of 259.9 yards after three swings apiece.
The Fujikura Atmos Blue also feels very comfortable to swing. It will react based on the load of your swing.
On release, you get a clear kick that for the most part, seemed to increase club head speed and improve smash factor.
The launch was mid with most of our swings resulting in launch angles between 12 and 14 degrees – a good range for both mid and high handicappers.
The Fujikura Atmos Blue certainly favors a moderate swing tempo as well. This is when flight is the most stable and you get a nice, penetrating launch.
Where the Fujikura Atmos Blue differs slightly from the Black though is dispersion. With the Fujikura Atmos Blue, we were seeing off-line divergences between 9 and 13 yards.
Shaft Specs
What flexes are available what swing speeds do they suit.
Regular 2 (essentially amateur flex) and regular are more for moderate to slow swingers.
Stiff and extra stiff would be good for 85-95 MPH swingers.
What Weights Are Available? What Swing Speeds Do They Suit?
55g would be good for sub 80 MPH swingers.
65g would likely work for 80-85 MPH swingers. 75g might suit golfers swinging their driver 85-90 MPH.
Why is it So Good?
For us, the Fujikura Atmos Blue is a good shaft because it can help a wide array of players gain more distance from the tee.
Plus, the dispersion is tight overall – even when you mis-hit.
Fujikura Atmos Blue First Impressions
We were impressed by the fact that, even though this shaft has an active feel, it still manages to be stable.
This is evidenced by the good dispersion we were getting on mis-hits.
Key Features & Performance
The Fujikura Atmos Blue is incredibly consistent.
It has a moderate tip stiffness so you get good control coupled with likely increases in club head speed.
Fujikura Atmos Blue Driver Review
Light and manageable, the Fujikura Atmos Blue is a great pairing with modern game improvement drivers.
It will help moderate swing speed players improve smash factor without sacrificing much (if any) accuracy.
Fujikura Atmos Blue Fairway Wood Review
The dispersion loosens up a bit off the deck. Spin rates ticked up by a significant margin as well.
But you still get a smooth transitional feel that can work well for moderate to deliberate tempo players.
Fujikura Atmos Blue Pros & Cons
- Lightweight
- Good for moderate tempos
- Low spin rates
- Good forgiveness
- It would suit a wide array of players
- The finish isn’t distracting at address
- Not great for fairway woods
- Not great for 95+ MPH swingers
Overall Score: 95/100

Who Should Buy it?
The Fujikura Atmos Blue definitely lives up to the mid launch/mid spin claims.
In fact, we were able to get mid/low spin out of it. For these reasons, this shaft would be good for handicappers between 10 and 22.
Basically, anyone who wants more distance without sacrificing much accuracy.

Fujikura ATMOS Shaft Review
More in reviews:.
50 Words or Less
The Fujikura ATMOS shafts allow you to choose your ball flight – high, medium, or low – while retaining similar smooth feel.
Introduction
A flighted series of shafts is nothing new – virtually every manufacturer offers high, medium, and low launching options. Where Fujikura has innovated with the ATMOS is in keeping the handle of each shaft the same to maintain a consistent feel throughout the line. I tested each of the new ATMOS shafts to see if this is the key to selecting your perfect launch conditions.
For the ATMOS series, Fujikura brought back their “Tour Spec white” as the base color of the shaft. The color of the shaft – red, blue, or black – is displayed in the amoeba-esque graphics near the grip and on the branding. Overall, ATMOS looks sharp without trying too hard or being distracting.
Fujikura delivered on the promise of a consistent feel across the ATMOS line. While there is a slight difference in the way the tip flexes across the three models, the torque is nearly the same and the butt of each shaft feels similar. Each of the three shafts produces a solid kick that reminds me a bit of the Fujikura Pro.
Performance
If you want the quick and dirty version, here it is: each of the ATMOS shafts does the job they’re designed for . The Black launches the lowest, the Red launches the highest, and the Blue is in the middle. If you want to get into the weeds of exactly how each performed for me, here we go.
My expectation heading into this testing was that the ATMOS Blue would be the best for me. While we all want to think we’re outliers, most of us live in the middle of the bell curve, and I’m no exception. In most lines of shafts, mid-launch is my jam. The ATMOS Blue did not disappoint : good swings got great results and mediocre swings weren’t punished too badly. It didn’t invite me to swing out of my shoes, but it held up well to a hard swing without going wide left.
The ATMOS Red was the shaft that most intrigued me based on the specs. I was curious to see if Fujikura could deliver a shaft that launched high without feeling noodle-y. By and large, they did. Though the ATMOS Red is the softest in the tip section, it’s miles from your typical whippy rain-bringer. You can see in the data that the launch and spin were higher for me, but not wildly so. This shows that the ATMOS line is ideal for good players who want to really dial in their numbers .
Despite my expectations, the ATMOS Black ended up being my favorite. The numbers are very similar to the Blue with spin and launch being slightly lower. What was more important to me was that it kept my wild swings a little straighter . Again, I love that the differences between these shafts are small and allow you to get exactly what you want.
The Fujikura ATMOS shafts are available in 60, 70, and 80 gram weights in stiff and X flex. The ATMOS Black is also available in Tour Stiff and Tour X in the 80 gram version.
For the good player seeking to dial in the exact launch conditions and feel that they want, the Fujikura ATMOS shafts are perfect. The differences in feel are subtle, allowing the golfer to optimize their numbers and get every bit of distance off the tee. If that sounds appealing to you, book an appointment with your local Fujikura fitter .

Matt what driver loft was used in your test?
I use a PING G LS Tec 10.5* turned down to 9.9*.
What flex were you using?
Matt, thanks for the review. My driver swing speed is 102. I was just fitted by PXG for a new driver and my best results were with the Hazrdus Black in stiff on their prototype 9 degree driver. I purchased a Epic 3 wood today after hitting one for a couple of rounds……loved it……and want to try an Atmos shaft in it. Noticed you liked the X with 105 speed…..should I go for X or do the Stiff?
I would recommend a fitting to get a definitive answer. 105 is a little slow for me, and I prefer a little too stiff to a little too soft, so that’s why I went X.
Enjoy your reviews very much, can you compare Atmos to Evo3? Also out of both shafts which produced the better numbers?
The ATMOS has a more conventional feel, the EVO3 has a “whip crack” feel like I described in that review. I haven’t tested them head to head, so I can’t say which produces better numbers for me.
Nice Review! How did you find the blue vs hzrdus black and yellow?
ATMOS is entirely different from HZRDUS Black or Yellow. Totally different feel.
I love your shaft reviews, keep up the great work.
I was fitted for a shaft in a Ping G 410 LST. I wanted one that was low torque , low spin and high launch. I loved the Fujikura Atmosphere Tour Spec 65. I have gained yardage and accuracy.
Have finally upgraded fairway woods to M4 with R shaft flex. Have been playing Burner FWoods 8+ years old in S flex, no problem. Swing speed 86/90mph. Too flexible?
Are the results good? There’s no standard for what speed should swing what flex, so if the results are good, play it.
Can you compare with tour ad tp-6 with atmos black?
I have a review of the AD-TP here: https://pluggedingolf.com/graphite-designs-tour-ad-tp-shaft-review/
Are these the regular atmos shafts? I was looking at the atmos red ts was wondering how it compared to the project x HZRDUS red shaft?
I have a review of the HZRDUS Red here: https://pluggedingolf.com/project-x-hzrdus-red-shaft-review/
Matt, With your knowledge per Fuji Atmos and Graphite Design AD, I have a question for you! So my current set up is a Graphite Design Tour AD GP 7TX (untipped) with a Taylormade SLDR tour head at 6.75 loft I’m hitting it the best out of any driver set up am able to hit it high when needed. But when I raise the loft to 8 degrees, I overspin. I’m about to put an Atmos Black 6TX into play and hope that I’ll get the same performance or even better (low spin & high launch) so that I can hit a high ball at a higher head loft (8 perhaps) with lower side spin than what I’m probably getting out of the 6.75 loft with a 7TX Graphite Tour AD GP set up. Does the Atmos black profile play stouter than a TX mid launch low spin profile of the Tour ad GP (or even Tour AD MT series)? I don’t mean to put you on the spot here, but I’ve got no other leads in shafts that dramatically lower spin and perform like the Atmos.
I haven’t tested the AD GP, but based on the specs, I would be surprised if the ATMOS Black was substantially lower spin. That said, the way that ATMOS Black works in your hands may be much lower spin than the AD GP. That’s the unpredictable human element.
I currently am gaming a Aldila Rogue Black 60g shaft in a 2016 TM M2 10.5 degree head. I just finished a driver fitting hoping for a better performing combination. My fitter said my 16.5 deg launch angle was too high for my 145 mph ball speed. He had me loft down to 9.5 deg w/ a M4 head and a Tensi CK white shaft. Numbers got better. Which Atmos shaft would compare?
The Tensei White should feel most similar to the ATMOS Black.
Hey matt, gonna get my 25 yr old son a set of m4 irons for xmas but not sure about which shafts to get in them, he hits 5 iron with his old rac irons between 190 and 200 yards with a high flight 7 iron between 160 and 170 so what wud you suggest the standard kuro kage shafts or upgrade to atmos. Thanks Thomas
The best thing to do would be to get your son a fitting. I recommend Club Champion or True Spec. There’s no way for me to give a good recommendation without seeing him in person.

Matt, I read a review you did of the Fubuki ZT a few years ago. I have the shaft in Callaway 815, and was pleased by how well you liked the club and how well it did for you (285 yards) at the time. I hit high drives, but thank God above, have hit some of my best drives the last 2 years, playing very little, with this club. Could you remember the ZT well enough to compare it to the Atmos? Considering getting the Atmos black in a 70 weight, whereas my ZT is a 60, is there much difference in these two shafts? Both seem to be low spin, I tend to have trouble staying in the correct fairway, which is probably me more than the club. Thanks, I always enjoy reading your reviews.
Honestly, no, I don’t remember the ZT well enough to give you a good comparison. My standard advice applies: get fit, compare the new to your current, and see if it’s worth a change.
Thanks Matt, I would have liked to have made it to CC while they have their special, but i am not going to get there. Thanks again for the reviews, I do enjoy them.

Matt, How do the Tensei Orange and Tour Ad IZ Compare to the Atmos Black? I had the opportunity to test both the Orange and AD IZ, on course. The IZ played stiffer and dispersion was a little tighter which I liked, Orange was surprisingly softer than I expected… if in a launch monitor the orange might have produced a little more ball speed. Either wouldn’t have been a bad choice. X flex in the orange would have played a little more to my liking.
I have reviews of the AD IZ here: https://pluggedingolf.com/graphite-design-tour-ad-iz-shaft-review/ and the Tensei Orange here: https://pluggedingolf.com/mitsubishi-tensei-orange-shaft-review/
Hi Matt. Probably a dumb question but I’ll ask anyway. I just ordered a TM M4-D 9.5* with regular Atmos Red shaft. Of course, I can lower or increase the loft of the TM by 2*. So, if I find the launch angle and spin rate too high, will lowering the loft reduce spin rates? I would normally use a still flex shaft but as I’ve aged, my swing speed has slowed a bit (probably 95 +/- now). Your thoughts? Thanks in advance!
All else equal, yes, lowering the loft will decrease the spin. However, lowering the loft will open the face, which may affect your ability to square the face at impact which could actually cause the spin to go up.
I’m having trouble figuring out the difference between the shaft weights, what does the 40, 50, 60, or 70 numbers actually mean? Is it the stiffness of the shaft? Thanks
The number relates to the weight.
Matt – What is the difference between the Atmos red 5R and the Atmos red 5R2? I am a senior player currently use a Ping G400 10.5 degree, Alta CB Senior flex 55 gram shaft with very good results. Smooth swing in the 85 mph range. Thanks. Duke of the North
R2 is a senior or lite flex.
Matt, The M6 driver and fairway woods come with the Fujikura Atmos Orange. What can this shaft in a regular flex be compared to with the rest of the Atmos line of shafts.
Thanks John
The ATMOS Orange is made just for the M6, it’s not part of the aftermarket line. I haven’t tested it, and I’m not sure where it falls in the ATMOS family.
I am a high handicap golfer what shaft is best for me atmos 6 red 7 red or orange
There’s no way for anyone to accurately answer that question without working with you in person. I would strongly recommend getting a fitting.
Hi, I have a swing speed around 90 and was wondering if the Atmos Orange R flex is much different to the Atmos Red R flex. The orange is my M6 driver and the red my M4 fairway wood.
Thanks for your question. The ATMOS Orange was made just for TaylorMade’s M Series, and we have not tested it, so we can’t offer a comparison to the Red.
Hey Matt, Love the review. How would say the Atmos black compares to the HZRDUS black in terms of stiffness? Would you say that a PX 5.5 is more like a stiff in Fujikura? Or are they comparable 6.0 PX = stiff in Fujikura? Nick
In terms of feel, the ATMOS Black feels half a flex softer than the HZRDUS Black, to me.
I am looking to buy a used set of Cobra F9 speedback irons. I found a set for a very decent price. However, they come with the Atmos black regular flex shirts. I am a high handicapper who sometimes struggles with getting my irons in the air. I really want to buy these because the price is really good but don’t want to hurt what little game I have.
Comparing atmos ts blue 6x and the 7s numbers are real close except weight 7 weights 9 grams more and has a4 point stiffer tip I swing between 100 and 105. I have the 7s in my 3 wood and like the results which do you feel would be better in a sim max
There’s no way for me to say definitively. Do you want a lighter shaft in your driver? What are you playing now?
I bought a set of TM M4s with ATMOS RED 6R flex. I had to buy the 4 iron, A and SW and recovery club individually but they have a 5R flex. I’m a 60 year old 14 handicap golfer. Is the difference between the 6R and 5R material enough to justify the cost of me changing the 5Rs to 6Rs or should I just ignore the difference?
Have you played them yet? Do you feel a difference or see a difference in the performance?
Hi Matt was playing taylormade r11 driver with Fujikura blur 60 regular shaft. Been using for 10 years and just brought a M4 driver with a ATMOS 5 r flex shaft. Is there a big difference between these shafts “? Made fade has turned into a slice . Any insight would be highly appreciated.
Given that you changed both the head and shaft, I can’t draw a hard conclusion about the cause of the slice. You did drop some shaft weight, which may be something your swing isn’t getting along with.
In my opinion, just because a certain shaft performs well in one head does not mean it will in another. The weight of the heads would have to be the same or very close.
Is this a correct assumption?
Yes, this can be the case.
I always spent my half an hour to read this webpage’s articles everyday along with a mug of coffee.

Fujikura ATMOS shaft brings three ball-flight options but one consistent feel in the hands
Focused on elite players, the Fujikura ATMOS Tour Spec was designed to cater to the preference of better players to flight the ball lower. Still, ATMOS Tour Spec features three models that segment between a preferred higher flight, a mid flight and a lower flight.
What’s particularly interesting is how the Fujikura ATMOS was developed with a consistent feel in the butt section of the shaft, regardless of which of the three versions a player chooses. The flight is then controlled by the stiffness profile of the mid and tip sections.
Featuring Fujikura's trademark "tour spec white" background coloring, the ATMOS line comes in three different color patterns to distinguish the three different ball flights. The red is for the highest launch, the blue is for a middle flight and the black is for the lowest launch and features the lowest torque ratings in the ATMOS line. That makes it easier for player to understand the sometimes hard-to-decipher world of shaft performance . Of course, a qualified fitter is key to guiding you through any shaft-fitting process. The full line has a weight range of 67-85 grams. That’s slightly heavier than many typical stock shafts played by average golfers, which can be in the range of 40-70 grams.
“Working with tour pros every week we have learned what profiles they prefer and launch conditions they demand so it will be nice to have a new “go-to” shaft with three launch options,” said Pat McCoy, Fujikura tour representative.
Among the PGA Tour players who've switched recently to ATMOS are Gary Woodland (Black), Billy Horschel (Black), Derek Fathauer (Blue) and Ben An (Blue).
The Fujikura ATMOS will be available at Fujikuira dealers March 1 ($300).

Toulon Golf collaborates with Valhalla Golf Club for latest Small Batch putter
Toulon Golf has today officially announced its latest Small Batch putter — the Valhalla.
Discussing the putter, Preston Toulon of Toulon Golf said: “This putter is a collaboration with the club at Valhalla and incorporates three of the many things that make the state of Kentucky great – horseracing, bourbon and championship golf. The head of the putter and headcover have several allusions to a jockey’s silk and there are thoroughbreds on the sole.”
Inspired by Toulon’s classic tri-sole Santa Monica design, the company sought to modernize the profile and design leveraging its 904 stainless steel and 6061 aircraft aluminium across the sole. Toulon describes the Valhalla’s profile as “slightly oversized blade whose proportions are meticulously balanced to maintain the look and feel of the Santa Monica, while increasing the putter’s inertia to create one of the most forgiving putters we have ever designed.”
Throughout numerous prototypes, Toulon paid particular attention to the L-neck, with its full shaft of offset, adding a bit of length for better blending with the slightly wider and longer blade.
On the rear of the putter are homages to horse racing in the form of jockey silk diamonds and Churchill Downs-inspired font.
The sole of the putter features a large cavity covered by a 6061 aircraft aluminum sole plate. According to Toulon, this allowed for the addition length to the putter and improved inertia as well as moving more mass to the perimeter for greater forgiveness.
In another nod to Valhalla, Toulon uses a milled watermarked limestone pattern, a reference to stone featured widely on the property.
As with all the Toulon Small Batch putters, the team paid particular attention to the topline thickness and radius to achieve a desired look. “Soft yet crisp was the design intent,” according to the company.

New THP TV spot with the Fujikura Tour Rep Marshall talking Atmos and tour adoption. Stay till the end as The Dean of THP makes a getaway. Shot in 4K, so THP recommends viewing in full screen

That laugh from Marshall, it's kind of a "I'm going to taze you" laugh.

The Blue Atmos has been by far my favorite driver shaft I have put in play over the past few years. I still intend to throw one in the fairway as well.

I took a handful of swings with a Atmos Black with a Sub Zero head, and I really enjoyed the feel out of it. I wouldn't hesitate to throw one in the bag, the graphics are cool(that's the whole point right?)

I wouldn't mind pulling a Dean and snagging one of these shafts.
I wouldn't mind giving the black or the blue a shot in the SZ. Always looking for a good spin fighter.

The black Atmos in a 60 gram S or X would be just fine in my book!

Really like the sound of the tech in these shafts and would love to give them a try one day. Red or blue would probably serve me best.

The honeymoon is over... Atmos 6s woes.

Earlier this season I upgraded into a Mizuno ST190G from an older TEE XCG6.
I bought the Mizuno with a Fuji Atmos Black 6s, and after a decent round or two with it, I cant seem hit this club to save my life. There's no freedom in my swing as I feel I need to steer it to get it to do anything remotely like what I want.
I came from a Matrix Ozik HD 6.1, or what would later renamed the Red Tie, from what I understand. I still game the same generation TEE 3 wood, with the same shaft, and it still works for me.
My question is: Are these two shafts that much different? I'm wondering about flex points between the two and how that's impacting what's going on.
And I've tried not to blame the arrow, but I'm feeling that the kick point in the Atmos is just way too low and loose. I've struggled with catching the ball high on the face, and even hit the ground once or twice, which is absolutely not a normal miss for me.
For reference, I'm 6', pretty strong, and normal driver swing is around 102?ish. (Haven't been on a monitor in ages) Good, controlled drives are in the 280-290 range.

Funny you mention this... I've always loved the Fujikura motore line... the atmos was supposed to be similar. It isn't. Its a huge disappointed to me. I've tried to love the black and the blue versions multiple times, but sold the black one last week and the blue one today. They are loose and not accurate.

Agreed. I would look at weight, both swing and total, before anything else, as well as playing length. A taller, stronger player can really suffer if something gets too light, and it only takes several grams outside of your normal comfort zone to throw you off. See if you can measure as much as you can with both clubs to compare.

It’s funny you say that, I got the atmos based on Fuji’s recommendations that atmos is similar. And I actually do find it similar but have had better results with the atmos. Different strokes.
The red tie would be classified as a mid launch and mid spin shaft. Atmos black is a low/low shaft. They will feel very different.
Atmos black will have a stiffer tip section. Don't know enough about the red tie's EI profile to say much more.
Ideally, it would probably be best to get fitted by a pro, but the "Rona lockdown is slowing that down.
I'm going to split the heads and check weights of them and the shafts separately. The Mizuno head feels heavier by a fair margin, but I'm wondering if that can be attributed to the flex point of the Atmos.
My buddy has a new SIM with the Diamana S+ Limited in it, and it feels much more stable than the Atmos, and somewhat similar to my Matrix. I'd be curious to compare the profiles between the three and see if there's a certain trait that stands out.
I'll definitely be interested to see those measurements. Its pretty rare for a difference in shaft profile to be the difference between "good" and "can't hit it to save my life".
I've been testing shafts from a stock Tensei Blue all the way down to a Ventus Black and ATMOS Black and they all perform pretty much the same - but with small variations in spin/distance and flight/dispersion.
If you have the XCG6 stock shaft I believe it was a made for model. That being said, and totally irrelevant, but I loved that driver.

It was a made for model, for sure. So it could possibly be just about anything in there.
So I finally got a minute to compare my old TEE against the ST190G, and the Mizuno is almost 1" shorter. I bought it off of the 'Bay, and it showed up still in plastic, etc etc...
The Mizuno website lists stock shafts at 44" and D4 SW. I measure the Atmos that came in it at 43" + or - 1/8th depending on how you want to measure it.
Anyone know if the Mizunos are shipped shorter?
The atmos TS line are great shafts. Profiles really are a just about what you to feel and how you load and release the club. The atmos black tour spec is anything but “loose”. If your having trouble finding good contact, you can try different profiles, or go up a weight class.
The atmos shaft is one I toyed with in the bag and it didn’t agree with me. Moved into a ventus and all problems solved
102mph isn't reaching 290yds.. maybe the shaft is a little strong for you?
nikeblades00
I have the atmos ts black 6s in my speedzone and I've never felt more confident with the driver. I love this shaft. Feels better than the smoke and diamana whiteboard that I use to game. My stock swing speed about 105ish. And im not gettimg 280-290 on average like you.
Not sure a shaft is going to cause to cause issues such as hitting the ground. Different shafts will suit different swings better/worse depending several variables, but it isn’t going to cause major differences in contact, especially at a 102 mph swing speed.
Shaft selection is a fine tuning exercise to maximize launch and spin, but they surely don’t effect swing or ball contact. I think sometimes too much credit/blame is put on a shaft.
Not sure about that if my experience today was anything to show for it.
I regularly play an ATMOS Blue TS 6s myself (also about 102 swing speed), and I had a round today with a bunch of really good drives. Afterwards, while still feeling physically good, I go to my local PGATSS and try out the Mavrik and the SIM. Evenflow Riptide and PX Hzrdus Yellow Shaft respectively.
I hit the Mavrik pretty decently, but the standard SIM? I couldn't hit ball properly at all. Everything happened, fat shots, crown hits, you name it...I could not get the timing right.
I put the entire blame on the shaft in this case.

Switched to an Atmos Red TS stiff and it’s an excellent combo. Getting great distance and accuracy. I played Diamana Blue for years. The Atmos line is pretty similar performance for me. But I definitely prefer the Atmos TS Blue or Red to the Black.

I guess we will agree to disagree. If you can put a sky mark as well as hit a driver fat and find a way to blame it on the shaft, I guess I have been missing out all these years.
The shaft isn’t moving the driver head around all that much, whether it is the correct shaft for your swing or not. Enough to affect some spin and launch, but surely not enough to put a sky mark or cause a fat shot. That would be caused by a bad swing and operator error.
Put it in the right forum and you might get more answers
What head did you pair Atmos Red TS with?
Probably just didnt suit the feel you prefer. The ts black has a more uniform feel where the blue and red have more of a distinct kick.
I currently game the Mizzy st190 with atmos black ts 6. Probably the best shaft I've ever hit for me. I also tried the atmos blue ts and hated the shaft, I had thought the I'd like the blue better. I tried numerous shaft combos with the 190, the black ts felt the best and produced best results. I play at 44.5" D2.

Yo. Agreed. Little more torque in the Blue and Red. I am not knocking the Black. In a higher loft it might work for me in stiff, not X. I think these are really great shafts. But torque is a weird thing: Too much and it feels whippy to me, but low torque is also bad because I don’t like it.
So the combo of the low-launching 9 degree Srixon head seems to work well with the mid-launching Red Tour Spec. All I know is I am hitting it as far as I ever have and it feels nice. I think the Blue would fairly similar. There is not a huge difference in launch between them.
To answer swooshLT, mine is paired with a Srixon z585 head. Underrated bomber!

I tested each of the new ATMOS shafts to see if this is the key to selecting your perfect launch conditions. Looks. Total Rating 100%. Posted May 30, 2019. I have tried the Atmos Black and Ventus in drivers, and play the Atmos Blue in my 3 wood. The main difference is that the Ventus has a much softer butt section compared to the two Atmos shafts- the Black is stiff everywhere and the Blue has a softer mid section like a Blueboard.
Total Rating 100%. Posted July 13, 2020. The red tie would be classified as a mid launch and mid spin shaft. Atmos black is a low/low shaft. They will feel very different. Atmos black will have a stiffer tip section. Don't know enough about the red tie's EI profile to say much more.
