Synopsis [ ]

As their vacation approaches, our heroes’ plans move closer to reality! Kiawe has decided to assist Olivia with her kahuna duties, while Lana, Mallow, and Sophocles continue to work toward their own goals. Now that Magearna is awake, Lillie and her family are setting out to find Mohn, and Ash is embarking on a new adventure of his own—he wants to see new places and meet new Pokémon! The Pokémon School class, Professor Kukui, and Professor Burnet are sad to see him leave Alola, but they wish him all the best for the future. And with Team Rocket also departing Alola, just what might that future hold? [1]

Episode plot [ ]

At the Pokémon School, Kiawe confirms to others that he will be assisting Olivia during the vacation. Lana mentions that it is important to be learning from the master, to which Mallow notes she is the one that knows that the best. Sophocles wonders about Ash's plans. Ash confirms, but just as he is to say, Lillie greets everyone, surprising them to see the active Magearna by her side. The Pokémon greet Magearna, while Rotom takes photos of it. The classmates congratulate Lillie, who attributes the success to Zoroark. Lillie takes a pause, and reveals she wants to go on a journey with her family, to find her father. Her friends are surprised, while Lillie explains Magearna will show the way. In fact, just as Magearna woke up, Lillie hugged it, causing her Z-Ring to glow. A flash was shot into Magearna, who shot a purple beam. Lillie and Gladion wondered what was going on, to which Magearna pointed to Mohn's picture. Zoroark became happy, and Gladion realized Magearna pointed the way where their father was. Lillie was overjoyed, and went to call their mother.

Ash applauds Magearna, while Lillie adds that Lusamine has resolved herself to find her husband, and will not return after that. She and her brother decided to accompany her, sharing the same feelings. Mallow hopes for her return, to which she confirms. Sophocles, Lana and Mallow are relieved to hear that, which makes Ash ponder his thoughts as he realized that he should wait to tell everyone about his plans to leave Alola as well. At Bewear's den, Bewear feeds Team Rocket with honey, as does Mareanie with Stufful and Mimikyu. Suddenly, they received a call from the HQ. Jessie states they can wait, as they haven't finished their meal, or even want to see the secretary or her Alolan Meowth. Suddenly, Mimikyu presses the button, activating the video link. The boss greets Team Rocket, who immediately go in front of the screen, out of their surprise. He asks of them to return to the HQ, much to Team Rocket's surprise. Matori explains they have been withholding information about their progress in Alola for too long. Her Alolan Meowth mutters something, to which Meowth takes offense to, as it does not believe the trio did anything notable. The boss anticipates great things from the trio, and logs out.

Team Rocket start thinking what will they do. As Stufful and Mimikyu argue, and Mareanie breaks their fight, Team Rocket worry a bit. As the bell rings, Kukui reminds that tomorrow the vacations will start. He hopes all of them will chase after their dreams. As the group exits the school, Lillie sees her limo driver, and remembers she has to go shopping with her mother, to buy the necessary supplies. Before she walks away, Mallow asks of her to take her recipe - a special dish designed for Snowy. Lillie is happy, and promises to take the recipe tomorrow. As Lillie walks away, Mallow mutters the plan is working, and smiles with the rest. At the den, Team Rocket is packing up. Jessie reminds James to tell Mareanie about the thing. James asks did she do the same with Mimikyu, to which she denies, but believes Mimikyu to be a tough sort. Suddenly, Mareanie walks into the room, and looks at all the crates. Meowth and Jessie encourage James to tell her. James walks to Mareanie, and tells her they will be going to HQ soon. Mareanie imagines she and Mimikyu will accompany them, and glomps James, poisoning him.

James explains Mareanie that she will stay with Mimikyu, Stufful and Bewear. Mareanie, however, is too infatuated to listen to James, and tells Mimikyu, who glows with a malicious aura. Jessie asks of Meowth to explain to Mareanie, but he doubts his words will go through to her. At evening, Ash is walking with Pikachu and Rotom at the beach. Ash looks at the horizon, remarking how beautiful the sunset is. Rotom asks Ash when will he tell others about his departure from Alola. Ash believes he will tell them all tomorrow. Suddenly, Pikachu gets attacked by Team Rocket's Mimikyu. Mimikyu fires Shadow Ball, to which Pikachu uses Thunderbolt to disrupt the attack. However, Mimikyu continues attacking Pikachu with its tail, who evades the attacks. Pikachu uses Iron Tail, which slams Mimikyu to the sea. As it goes to attack, Mimikyu suddenly sees its reflection in the water and becomes sad. It loses its will to fight and falls into the sea. Ash and Pikachu get worried, and the latter gets Mimikyu out of the sea to the land. Mimikyu stands up, and instead of attacking Pikachu, it wobbles away. Rotom senses Mimikyu is acting differently; Ash wonders if it will find its way home, to which Mimikyu waves goodbye to them.

Ash sees they will have to go home, too. Before they do, Nebby appears behind them. Ash, Pikachu and Rotom are delighted to see it, and hug it. At night, Mimikyu is walking through the forest when Meowth encounters it. Meowth wonders where it has been, for even Jessie has been worried about it. Mimikyu utters a cry, and Meowth sees it went to confront Ash and Pikachu. Meowth reminds life is tough for Pokémon. He hears Mimikyu saw its reflection in the water, and that its rage would accomplish nothing whatsoever. Meowth believes it is the time to look upwards, to which Mimikyu cheers itself up. A moment later, Mimikyu sleeps with Marenie and Stufful. James visits Mareanie, and reminds her that this was like a good home for all of them. Also, James tells Mareanie that they'll be back in Alola one day and promises her that it will happen. Thus, he places Team Rocket's Z-Ring on her head, asking her to take care of this den. After saying goodbye to Mareanie, He joins with Jessie, Meowth and Wobbuffet, who are about to leave on their balloon. They admit to Bewear that this was a comfortable place they have stayed in. The four of them bow down and thanked her for taking them in during their time in Alola, but start panicking when Bewear extends her arms. However, they feel fuzzy when she hugs them all.

As they go aboard the balloon, Meowth translates Bewear's question if they are going to the Kanto region. They confirm this, to which Bewear takes the balloon and tosses it up to the sky to give Team Rocket a great push. Next morning, Lillie visits Aina's Kitchen. However, she gets enveloped in a bubble, for Kiawe, Lana, Sophocles and Mallow have surprised her. In fact, this is a surprise party before her departure. Inside, the Pokémon eat many meals, but their trainers do not, for they are still waiting for Ash. As they wonder if Ash got distracted, they hear a loud roar. Outside, they find Ash, Pikachu and Rotom atop of Nebby, who is descending down from the sky. He greets everyone, and explains Solgaleo visited him last night. He went atop of Solgaleo, who carried him through the Ultra Wormhole. He adds they visited a strange world, where they helped an Ultra Beast in there. Despite Ash's bad explanation, Rotom goes to show them the footage. Others add Rotom is a huge help, to which Rotom tells Lusamine said the same thing - as of today, it is an employee of Aether Paradise.

Ash explains they went to Aether Paradise with Kukui, to show the scientists over there the video that Rotom made. Rotom showed the data to Burnet, Wicke, Faba and Lusamine, who were amazed by Rotom's capabilites. Lusamine asked Rotom would it like to work in Aether Foundation, surprising it. Rotom was surprised, but Burnet believed with their cooperation, it could become the greatest Pokédex in the world. Rotom was thrilled, and looked to Ash, who reminded its dream was coming true. Ash finishes the story, and sees it is time for Solgaleo to leave. Ash looks to his friends, and explains one more thing, he will be going back home to Pallet Town. His friends are in shock, but Ash explains that it was amazing to go to Alola, meet such great friends and enroll in the Pokémon School, which he claims has been the best. However, Ash tells his friends that he now knows it was time for him to return to Kanto and hang out in Pallet Town for a while then travel to a new place. Ash explains to his friends about his beliefs that if he keeps traveling that he'll not only meet even more new people and Pokémon but also make him a better Trainer in order to push himself to become a Pokémon Master someday. Ash's classmates are saddened by this surprising revelation, but they promise to support him in his goal nevertheless.

A moment later, at the docks, Gladion, Lusamine and Lillie, as well as their Pokémon, bid farewell to their colleagues & friends. Lillie sees this is the moment they have to depart. Sophocles promises to bring her a gift from Mossdeep City, when he comes back. Mallow hopes she finds her father soon, and Kiawe reminds to give them a call if something goes wrong, while Lana asks of her to write letters to them. Lillie promises to, and Ash bids her farewell. Lillie shies away a bit as she bids farewell to Ash. Gladion approaches the latter, and the two promise to have a battle if they were to encounter each other. The two promise to, and Rotom states it will take a photo of the entire group. Everyone lines up, and Rotom takes the photo. Later on, Lillie, Gladion, Lusamine, and their the latter starts thinking of her adventures, with bonding over Snowy and Pikachu, rescuing Lusamine from the Ultra Space, the time she was shrunk down , and watched Ash and Pikachu's battle in the Alola League exhibition match.

Goodbye and Thank You, Alola! - Pokémon the Series- Sun & Moon—Ultra Legends - Official Clip

Ash and Pikachu bid farewell to their friends.

In that moment, Lillie sprints ahead, and shouts out to Ash that she is glad to have met him. She thanks him for helping her befriend Pokémon, touch them, care for them and love them again, and Ash thanks her in return.

Early the next morning, Kukui drives Ash and Burnet to the airport. Before leaving for his flight, Ash asks them to take care of his Alolan Pokémon; both Professors promise to do so, in addition to bringing them to the Pokémon School so they can serve as Ultra Guardians. Finally, Kukui tells Ash they will always support him, wherever he goes and whatever he does, and the two Professors embrace Ash as a sign of farewell before he leaves. As the sun rises, Ash is in his plane with Pikachu, thanking the Alola region for his experiences there. Suddenly, the two are surprised to see that their friends have come to bid farewell in their Ultra Guardians outfits, to surprise Ash before he departs. Ash is moved to tears, and waves goodbye to them with Pikachu as they continue their flight back to Kanto.

As the vacation starts, Sophocles goes with Molayne to Mossdeep City. Lana and Mallow support Kiawe, who flies off on his Charizard for Olivia's special training. Lana swears to bring Mallow a fish print of Manaphy, and goes aboard her father's boat. As Mallow is cleaning Aina's Kitchen, she gets visited by Ulu, who has returned home. He passes some flowers to Mallow, and greets his father, Abe, who is pleased to see him having returned. Shaymin takes an interest in the flowers, and smooshes its head into them, transforming into the Sky Form. Mallow follows Shaymin, who comes outside to find more of its kind waiting for it. Mallow understands Shaymin has to go with its friends, and thanks it for being there for her. Afterwards, Shaymin flies off with the rest of its kind, as Tsareena waves goodbye to it.

A silent montage is then shown, showing Mareanie and Mimikyu enjoying their time with Bewear and Stufful, Hau, supported by his grandfather Hala, battling against Island Kahuna Nanu, Guzma training his grunts with Plumeria observing, Rotom making more reports in Aether Foundation alongside Faba and Wicke, Gladion, Lillie and Lusamine continuing their journey to find Mohn, and lastly, Kukui and Burnet sitting on the front porch of their house with Ash's Rowlet and Lycanroc. Burnet rubs her swollen belly, and Kukui places his hand over hers. .and your dreams!

  • This is the first episode to show a character being pregnant.
  • In addition, instead of "Next Time... A New Beginning!", the final reads a different title "...and your dreams!", which is a reference to the final line of Type: Wild , just like the final reads a different title "And to our own Way". A camping trip becomes even more exciting when Ash and Goh challenge the Legendary Pokémon Lugia to a Raid Battle! The action is fierce but friendly, and eventually Ash and Goh ride on Lugia’s back as it flies over Kanto. The boys are filled with wonder at the Pokémon they see, and it reinforces their own decisions to go on separate journeys. The next day, Ash and Goh depart Cerise Laboratory, with Chloe taking over their work as research fellows, and then they part ways when they reach a fork in the road. The future is in the palms of their hands—as the journey continues!

the journey continues pokemon

Continuing from where the last episode left off, Ash and Goh start their Raid Battle against Lugia , with Ash using Pikachu and Lucario , while Goh uses Cinderace , Inteleon , and Grookey . However, while they manage to land many hits, Lugia hardly even flinches from them. Deciding on a combination attack, Goh has Cinderace use Pyro Ball , which is combined with Lucario's Aura Sphere , Pikachu's Thunderbolt , and Inteleon's Mud Shot , and then gets sent flying by Grookey's Wood Hammer . The combo move makes contact, but even as Goh hurls a Poké Ball at Lugia, the Legendary Pokémon shrugs off the hit and counters with Aeroblast , which not only obliterates the Poké Ball but also breaks off the cliff Ash and Goh were standing on. They hastily recall their Pokémon, but are caught mid-fall as they fall on Lugia's back. Lugia starts flying around while showing Ash and Goh the multiple different kinds of Pokémon that inhabit the Pokémon world . Seeing first-hand how vast the world is, Goh starts feeling uncertain about his decision to travel alone, because it would mean he'd no longer have Ash's support on his journey . In response, Ash reminds Goh how he was able to join Project Mew and meet Mew through his own efforts. The two suddenly hear Lugia speaking to them telepathically as it rises higher and flies into a thick cloud. A shimmering light comes into their view in the middle of the cloud, and they're amazed to see Ho-Oh flying by and disappearing into the distance as they exit the cloud. This encounter reaffirms both Ash and Goh's decisions to travel the vast world of Pokémon on a never-ending path to learn and meet more of them.

After reuniting with Chloe , Ash and Goh return to the Cerise Laboratory , where Professor Cerise , Chrysa , and Ren approve their decision and thank them for the help they've provided in their Pokémon research. Ash and Goh are worried if the laboratory will be fine with its research fellows gone, but Professor Cerise is unworried, and Chloe enters the conversation to reveal that she's going to be a new research fellow during weekends when she doesn't have to go to school . She also assures that the lab staff will take good care of Goh's Pokémon while he's away and asks when the two intend to leave, being surprised when they respond they plan to depart the next day. Meanwhile, at the Team Rocket HQ , the Team Rocket trio is reporting to Giovanni that observing the Masters Eight Tournament has allowed them to pinpoint the strongest Pokémon in the world, which they claim to be within their grasp. Giovanni gives them the go-ahead to capture this Pokémon, and the trio leaves Giovanni's office, ecstatic that they've got their boss's support for their plan to capture Pikachu.

That evening, once they're done cleaning up their room, Ash and Goh head to Cerise Park to feed their Pokémon one more time. Upon entering, though, they're surprised to find not just Chloe and the lab staff, but also Professor Oak , Delia , and Goh and Chloe's families, who had decided to organize a surprise party to commemorate their departure. All of Ash and Goh's Pokémon join the celebration, with even Suicune paying the park a visit to observe the party from afar. The next day, Ash and Goh leave their room at the Cerise Lab for the final time and set off, bidding farewell to Chloe and the lab staff. While they traverse through Vermilion City , Pikachu is suddenly snatched by Team Rocket, who recite their motto and declare that they'll never give up on their attempts to steal Pikachu. They seal Pikachu in an insulated capsule, but Morpeko , in one of its usual fits of hunger, momentarily mistakes the capsule for a Berry and bites down on it, breaking it and allowing Pikachu to use Thunderbolt, exploding Team Rocket's balloon and sending the trio blasting off once again while he falls safely back into Ash's arms.

Leaving Vermilion City behind, Ash asks Goh what he plans to do next. He says he intends to tour Kanto first, since it still has many places he hasn't visited yet. Ash, meanwhile, has no set destination, going wherever the road leads him to. After passing through a crossroads together, they eventually come across another one, where they finally decide to take different paths. Goh thanks Ash for the support he's given to him, and the boys share a fist bump before parting ways. After a few moments of walking alone, Goh hesitantly stops, but Ash suddenly appears on a ledge above him, telling him to realize his goal of befriending Mew. Goh smiles and tells Ash to go achieve his dream of becoming a Pokémon Master . His confidence reinvigorated, Goh starts running along the road, as does Ash on his own path. He tells Pikachu that this day, filled with sunlight and Pokémon, reminds him of the day they first set off from Pallet Town . Full of excitement, Ash jumps up high, looking forward to what experiences the world of Pokémon has in store for him.

Everyone carries on with their lives: at the Cerise Laboratory, Professor Cerise and his assistants continue taking care of the Pokémon at Cerise Park, while Chloe begins her career as a research fellow by venturing out into the world; in Pallet Town, Gary introduces Horace to his grandfather; in Galar , ex-Monarch Leon observes as his little brother Hop trains with Bea in the Wild Area ; in an Arctic area, Quillon and Danika continue their work of helping out Pokémon in need; in Cerulean City , Goh's journey leads him to meeting Misty at the Cerulean Gym ; at a beach, Ash's journey leads to him reuniting with his old friend Butterfree and his mate ; and, at the Ketchum household , Delia and Mimey continue taking care of the house, with a group photo taken during the party standing on top of a fireplace.

Eventually, in an unnamed city, Chloe and Eevee , traveling the world as part of their role as research fellows, spot a Beautifly , which flies past them to the other side of a river, where Goh has just caught himself a new Pokémon. Further away, Ash is battling a Trainer 's Lapras with his Lucario, while the ever-persistent Team Rocket trio observes him from above. Though separated, all three young Trainers continue their own unique adventures in the endless world of Pokémon.

Netflix confirmed in February that the new batch of episodes that it began streaming on March 5 would be the Pokémon Journey series' final episodes.

Pokémon Journeys: The Series had delayed airing new episodes in April 2020 due to the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19), but resumed airing new episodes last June. Pokémon: Twilight Wings ( Hakumei no Tsubasa ) also delayed its fifth episode from May to June 2020 due to the effects of COVID-19 on the show's production. Gekijōban Pocket Monster Koko , the 23rd anime film in the franchise , was delayed from its planned July 10 opening to December 25 due to the spread of COVID-19. The film will open in the West in 2021.

Pokémon GO

GO Beyond: The Pokémon GO journey continues beyond

Since we began our journey together over four years ago, Pokémon GO has evolved in so many ways. From the addition of battles—Raid Battles, Trainer Battles, and Team GO Rocket battles—to the discovery of over 600 different Pokémon that can be encountered in the game, the world of Pokémon GO has continued to change and expand in exciting, new ways.

The week of Monday, November 30, 2020, Pokémon GO will GO Beyond. We’ll be making big changes to how Trainers can level up and implementing Seasons, a new way to experience in-game events. Not only that, but Pokémon originally discovered in the Kalos region will be coming to Pokémon GO!

Level-up redesign coming soon; level cap increased to 50!

For the first time since the game’s launch, leveling up in Pokémon GO is getting rebalanced. There have been many features added and changes made to the game over the years, and we’ve revisited them to make leveling more fun than ever.

Trainers who have reached level 40 will soon have the opportunity to level up to level 50! Be one of the first to earn bragging rights as a level 50 Trainer—that is, if you’re up for the challenge.

For players who haven’t reached level 40 yet, you’ll find leveling up easier than ever before with adjustments to the various ways you can earn XP!

Read more here .

Experience Pokémon GO in a new way with Seasons

We’ve learned a lot from running both live and in-game events in Pokémon GO these past few years. We’re excited to put all we’ve learned to work in a brand-new way of experiencing in-game Pokémon GO events: Seasons.

Pokémon originally discovered in the Kalos region are coming

So far in Pokémon GO, we’ve encountered Pokémon originally discovered in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, and Galar. Starting Wednesday, December 2, 2020, we’ll be meeting Pokémon first discovered in the region where dreams and adventures begin—Kalos! With the recent arrival of Mega Evolution to Pokémon GO, it feels timely that Pokémon originally discovered in Kalos—the region where Mega Evolution was first discovered—will be making their debut.

12 Days of Friendship event

To prepare for these exciting developments, there will be a series of exciting bonuses available TODAY as we kick off our 12 Days of Friendship event! After the GO Beyond update goes live, there’ll also be lots to do in December to help you take advantage of all the changes, such as December Community Day and fun holiday events!

Since 2016, a lot has changed, both in the real world and in Pokémon GO. What hasn’t changed, however, is the fact that we have each other and our Pokémon. As Pokémon GO has grown, so have we—as Trainers, as a community, and as people. The game has grown beyond our wildest imaginations, and we’re thrilled to see it continue strong four years later. It wouldn’t have been possible without all of you.

Now it’s time to GO Beyond—together!

Please be aware of your surroundings and follow guidelines from local health authorities when playing Pokémon GO. Upcoming events are subject to change. Be sure to follow us on social media, opt in to receiving push notifications, and subscribe to our emails to stay updated. The Boys season 4 review: The shock-value show has lost its edge

Same ol' tricks but without the thrills.

preview for The Boys Season 4 Trailer

For three seasons, the depraved superhero show has set itself up as a place where exploding penises and octopus-fellatio are the norm, and so our hunger for more grew.

So much so that it spanned into a spin-off where our appetite for the lewd and bloody was satiated by Gen V 's Godolkin supes in training .

Enter season four and the creator Eric Kripke has done it again – stacked our plates full of salad-tossing, face-bludgeoning action. But is it possible we've had our fill?

The Boys season four has done what is expected of it in getting creative with its execution of the explicit.

It's a varied mix of weird sex and insanely gory maimings that pop up like a jack-in-the-box, but instead of that heart-racing thrill of the surprise, we meet it with little more than a shoulder shrug. It's a formula we're used to and while it's still an enjoyable experience it was only a matter of time before the same old tricks feel just that: old. And we are left craving a fresher approach to superhero satire.

antony starr, cameron crovetti, the boys, season 4

Despite that shocking season-three finale and the events of Gen V 's debut season laying the grounds for a punchy outing, season four gets off to a slow start.

Three episodes in and what seemed monumentally significant before doesn't carry the same weight. It is pushed to the side in favour of the season-four drama, which has several pockets of plot that split concentration and dilute the impact.

It's not all bad – while the individual stories may not feel cohesive enough just yet, they are compelling and set the stage for some interesting character development.

jack quaid, erin moriarty, the boys, season 4

There are identity crises aplenty for both Antony Starr's Homelander and Erin Moriarty's Starlight (sorry, Annie January now that she's ditched The Seven).

While Annie's past encroaches on her present and forces her to re-examine who she is, Homelander becomes hyper-focused on mortality – and that's all we can say on that point lest we go treading into spoiler territory.

Billy Butcher ( Karl Urban ) also has mortal matters to contend with. As we know, his abuse of Temp V last season has drastically shortened his lifespan, leaving him with limited time to make things right with Ryan (Cameron Crovetti).

While his compulsion to win Ryan over and save him from Homelander isn't exactly unexpected, it is interesting to see Urban's approach to giving Butcher a more vulnerable edge while still maintaining that no-nonsense, crass, hard shell that we adore.

jessie t usher, the boys, season 4

Equally, A-Train's ( Jessie T Usher ) journey this season is one to keep an eye on as he continues to be pulled in different directions, but those running feet keep dithering.

Much like Annie, Frenchie's dark past is threatening his present happiness and that's all before we've even got to Hughie (Jack Quaid) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) or the other villain of the piece, Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) – we told you there's a lot going on.

If you're feeling overstimulated by the sheer amount of plot that's about to unfold, you'll be grateful for Black Noir mark two (Nathan Mitchell). The new take on the formally enigmatic supe offers some palate-cleansing comic relief.

the boys, season 4

It's certainly a clunky start to season four but nothing feels irredeemable. Not only are there seeds of potential within the many (many) storylines, we've also yet to welcome Gen V's Sam (Asa Germann) and Cate (Maddie Phillips) whose arrival was confirmed in the trailer. Their skewed morals and chaotic nature are sure to inject some much-needed freshness by virtue of seeing the hero landscape through their malleable, already manipulated eyes.

With Team Homelander no doubt bolstered by the keen Gen V recruits, we can only hope that that means Marie (Jaz Sinclair) and crew will be joining The Boys, culminating in a showdown.

This may seem like an additional storyline to an already burgeoning season but their arrival may actually focus the underlying plot involving Victoria Neuman and the supe virus, which is exactly what this season needs – a dose of newness and something to pull the story together.

3 stars

The Boys season 4 premieres its first three episodes this Thursday (June 13) on Prime Video , with new episodes weekly. Seasons 1-3 and spin-off Gen V are also streaming on Prime Video.

A duck in the rain wearing a raincoat, saying this: “I was a freshly divorced duck, not able to play next month’s rent.”

Summer Game Fest may be over, but we don’t have to stop celebrating games. On Steam, the Women-Led Games Showcase is putting the spotlight on games created by studios led by women; there are both games on sale and upcoming game demos to try out. The Women-Led Games event began June 8 with a showcase at Summer Game Fest and continues until June 15.

As you might know, it’s been a challenging few years for the video game industry. Not only has there been a devastating number of layoffs and studio closures, but funding dried up. It’s always been hard for video game developers to get funding, but it’s also always been harder for women-led teams — and with funding at a low point, it can feel nearly impossible. In 2021, $4.1 billion in investments went to video game companies led by men, while $1.2 million went to companies led by women.

That’s why the support for women-led teams is so necessary. There are dozens of games included in the event — some that have been out for a while, and some that have yet to be released. If you’re feeling overwhelmed over what to try first, we’ve rounded up some of the most exciting, innovative experiences.

The Wandering Village

The Wandering Village from Stray Fawn Studio is a city-building game that takes place on the back of a giant creature. Released in 2022, The Wandering Village is in early access and has received several gameplay updates so far. During the event, The Wandering Village is on sale for $18.74.

Duck Detective: The Secret Salami

In Duck Detective: The Secret Salami , you’re a duck that’s also a detective. Who stole the salami? That’s up to you to find out. By Happy Broccoli Games, Duck Detective is an investigative game that’s like a cuter version of The Case of the Golden Idol — it’s a lot of deduction, questioning, and searching for clues before jotting it all down in your notebook.

The Crush House

From Reigns developer Nerial, The Crush House is a reality show with a mystery. Playing as the show’s producer, you’ll cast the house members, then record what happens, attempting to tailor the show to your audience’s desires. It’s out on Aug. 9, but Nerial has a demo available now.

Soulitaire is basically a fortune-telling simulator. Customers will enter your cafe for a reading, and it’s your job to interpret the cards and predict their future. From Beardshaker Games, Soulitaire doesn’t have a release date just yet, but it does have a demo.

Sticky Business

Building a mushroom sticker in a colorful UI

If I could live inside one game, I think I’d choose Sticky Business . It lets you start your own small business — a sticker shop! You create and design stickers, print them, and then pack up orders. You can get Sticky Business and a DLC pack for $12.58.

Botany Manor

A glowing plant growing in a cave in Botany Manor. Next to it is a morse code guide.

OK, I just said I’d live inside Sticky Business , but I’d also inhabit Botany Manor . In Botany Manor , you’re a retired botanist who lives in 19th-century England. It’s a puzzle game that’s centered around tending to plants and discovering your manor. It’s just lovely. There’s a free demo on Steam, but you can also buy it for $24.99.

Abyss x Zero

A woman with blond and pink hair holding a big weapon surrounded by fire

A bonus entry, because there’s nothing to play yet : Developer Studio Pixel Punk’s follow-up to Unsighted is Abyss x Zero , described as a “3D Metroidvania with carefully crafted dungeons and stylish combat” on its Steam page. I don’t know much about Abyss x Zero , because it’s not out yet, nor is there a demo. But Unsighted was one of my favorite games of 2021 , so I won’t be missing this one.

the journey continues pokemon

The next level of puzzles.

The last good Pokemon game. Game Freak really dropped the quality of their games starting with X/Y.
