After what we’ve all been through in the past two years, every concert feels like a miracle, but a Dua Lipa show more than most. On the surface it might be easy to underestimate the heavy emotions associated with her “Future Nostalgia” album, which was famously released on March 27, 2020, just as the horrors of the pandemic were becoming clear: It’s a dance-party album that arrived at one of the worst possible times in human history for a dance party album, when there were no parties and the only dancing was done on our own.

Yet instead of striking a sour note or seeming like a cruel taunt, it was many people’s escape, their comfort food, their crying blanket — a reminder not only of what we couldn’t have, but what we longed to get back as everyone wondered, without exaggeration, when or even if we’d ever be at a concert or on a crowded dancefloor again. The album came to symbolize what we’d do again once we could — dress up, dance, flirt, sing along with strangers to shared favorite songs, enjoy the closeness of other humans while celebrating the freedom that the album’s songs came to symbolize.

And on Tuesday night at New York’s Madison Square Garden, almost exactly on the two-year anniversary of the pandemic’s beginning — as Russian missiles fell on Ukraine and the president delivered his State of the Union address to a deeply divided country — the sold-out crowd shut everything else out, because that moment was finally here.

Make no mistake, it was a moment : every major concert at Madison Square Garden feels like the center of the universe, and the crowd, an equal mix of teens and adults basically channeling their teens, was dressed to the nines — the boots alone would have made a killer photo spread in Footwear News — and ready to party. A telling sign of this took place, oddly enough, in a men’s room just minutes before Lipa went on: We allowed a deeply agitated man waiting behind us to jump the line, thinking the cause of his distress was biological in nature. But instead, as he rushed by, he said, “Thank you! Can’t miss any Dua!”

Some two years in the making, the show lives up to the moment. It’s a real pop-diva arena concert, with flashes of past Madonna, Beyonce, Katy Perry and especially Lady Gaga tours — there’s a giant video screen, lasers, a catwalk into the crowd, a confetti cannon, Dua levitating over the audience in a platform suspended from the ceiling (you’ll never guess for which song), and most importantly of all, a gang of incredible dancers who are both scenery and frontline, architecture and crowd-motivators, an infectious and effusive supporting cast who work every corner of the stage. Dancing has never been Dua’s greatest strength so the show’s design wisely makes her the strutting, statuesque center — emphasizing her real power points, her voice and presence — while the dancers orbit around her in an ever-morphing, multi-limbed swarm that’s both exhilarating and exhausting to watch. The choreography, led by Charm La’Donna (who’s also done great work for Rosalia, Selena Gomez and Kendrick Lamar), is truly next level.

The 80-odd-minute show is essentially divided into chapters that are themed by Dua’s four costume changes — a fluorescent yellow-green bodysuit, a silver-glitter number with matching boots, a black bodysuit with pink tights and black sneakers, and finally a skin-tight, semi-sheer Cher-like outfit. They’re broken up by unobtrusive, 3-4-minute dramatic pauses or spotlight performances by the dancers or the ace band led by musical director William Bowerman (which, unlike many pop shows, were actually audible over the frequent backing tapes).

The show is similarly well-paced musically, dishing out the hits at strategic moments and compensating for her relatively shallow catalog — just two albums, after all, and a handful of stray singles and features — by padding out the set with interludes, the above-mentioned spotlights and “Cold Heart,” her duet medley with Elton John. That bonding moment saw Dua and the singers seated together on the stage, singing together with Elton, who appeared pre-recorded on a video screen (funny enough, he was in Brooklyn that night, playing a date rescheduled from April 2020, and played the song with a video of Dua singing her part). There was also a surprise guest appearance from Belgian singer Angele, who came out to perform their duet “Fever,” and even a brief ’60s-style cartoon segment on the video screen where Dua was somehow in undersea peril and a giant fake lobster emerged onstage for “We’re Good” (sorry, can’t be bothered to go down the rabbit hole for the significance of that). It was a show filled with eye and ear candy with many Instagrammable moments, and the enraptured crowd took advantage — hundreds of phones were aloft even during the quieter moments. (Spoiler alert: The setlist is printed below.)

The two opening acts, Lolo Zaoui and Caroline Polachek, both had a decent crowd and well-received sets. Zaoui’s more straightforward pop had a pep and directness that translated well into an arena setting, and although the nuances of former Chairlift lead singer Polachek’s more cerebral strain of pop — she’s made some of the most innovative mainstream pop of the past couple of years, more in line with Charli XCX and Robyn than Lipa — were sometimes lost in the cavernous venue. However, that wasn’t from a lack of effort on her part: Her willoooowwy, floowwwwing arms gestures got a bit overbearing, although that may have been because one of the audience members inspired enough to emulate them was seated next to us. Be that as it may, an impressive number of her hometown audience knew the songs and sang loudly along — particularly with the set-closer, “So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings.”

But there’s no question it was Dua’s night, and she delivered — this tour, and this moment, will be a challenge to top, but we’re looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next … which hopefully won’t have another extinction-level event to add emotional heft.

London native Dua Lipa’s rise to fame all began on YouTube. Before she was a chart-topping pop phenom, the Albanian-descended singer worked hard to polish her signature vocal sound.

Lipa covered a variety of tracks, from “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys to “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera. At 15 years old, her natural talent grabbed the attention of modeling agencies, securing her a spot in entertainment.

Throughout 2013, Lipa endured a strenuous modeling career and decided to change directions. Eventually, she signed a record deal with Warner Bros. and kickstarted her music career. Her first single, “New Love,” showed off her raspy voice while staying true to the sounds of smooth pop. However, Lipa’s next release, “Be the One,” delivered an even more relatable energy. Its dance-pop elements helped the track explode in several countries, including Australia and New Zealand.

Dua Lipa’s single “Hotter Than Hell” met additional success. After the single landed on the UK charts, Lipa became an artist to look out for. It was no surprise the subsequent release of “Blow Your Mind (Mwah)” debuted on the US Billboard Hot 100. The dance-inspired track set the tone for the artist’s growing discography. As her fanbase grew, Lipa took control of her popstar persona. She secured collabs on Sean Paul’s “No Lie” and Martin Garrix’s “Scared to Be Lonely,” furthering her status in UK’s music scene in 2016.

Lipa’s popularity soared when her self-titled debut finally arrived in 2017. Her sixth single, “New Rules,” was a certified record-breaker. After taking the no. 1 spot in the UK, the song made a massive impact in numerous countries, including the US. Thanks to “New Rules,” Lipa obtained five Brit nominations. She won two, including British Breakthrough Act and British Female Solo Act, elevating her status as a soon-to-be popstar. From 2017 to 2018, Lipa took the concert world by storm and headlined her first tour for her self-titled debut.

More collaborations alongside in-demand artists proved Lipa’s growing fame. “One Kiss” with Calvin Harris eased its way onto British radio waves in 2018, delivering a staple dance club sound. Ultimately, the success of “Electricity” with Mark Ronson and Diplo (aka Silk City) allowed Lipa’s career to take a significant turn. Her signature voice paired well with the record producer duo’s electronic elements. Lipa’s musical versatility shined and laid the groundwork for her highly-anticipated sophomore album, Future Nostalgia.

“Don’t Start Now” was a sneak peek into the musician’s fresh persona. Drawing inspiration from old-school disco and nightclub synth-wave, the single became an undeniable smash. Lipa continued to leave her mark on the charts with the follow-up “Physical.” It was the perfect segue into her Future Nostalgia era.

The singer’s second full-length record left a lasting impression during an unpredictable year. Thanks to numerous top 10 tracks, Future Nostalgia became one of the most streamed albums by a female artist on Spotify in 2020. Her modern take on ’80s disco garnered many new listeners and a well-deserved Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. It was a testament to Lipa’s strength as an ever-changing popstar. She aimed even higher by collaborating with other famous musicians like BLACKPINK, Megan Thee Stallion, and Miley Cyrus.

Nearly four years later, the artist’s “Future Nostalgia Tour” launched her success to the next level. Despite postponed and canceled 2020 dates, Lipa wanted the show to go on. She took center stage with choreographed sequences and dream-worthy dance beats. Fans from all over the world, including the US, Latin America, and Europe, witnessed the pop singer up close and personal. Lipa charted new territory with one of the most anticipated tours in 2022 and opened the way for more critical acclaim.

This was a great concert! Dua Lipa is a great performer with a really strong stage presence. Really loved her voice.

Although she did interact with the audience, I felt that she did so less than other artists I've seen (stuff like explaining her songs a bit more, storytelling related to the city/audience). It didn't really affect how electric she was on stage though.

The concert opened with Ro Ransom, who performed about 5 songs. Her set felt short, but it was still 13 songs, but obviously she doesn't have that much released material out yet compared to other artists.

Her hits like Hotter Than Hell, Be The One, and Blow Your Mind (Mwah) were the most exciting, but I was really looking forward to Genesis and she did not disappoint there. Scared to Be Lonely was also great. I also love No Lies, but I wish she would've done her own spin on Sean Paul's parts too.

Overall it was a great time! Definitely see her if you like her music!

Perfect show with great performance by the band and Dua Lipa! She sings live without background singers and has an amazing voice! Including her actions with and reactions to the audience by giving some fans the chance to join a song with her and the band together on stage, just to have fun and celebrate the moment with her music was great! Her perfect look and the good acoustics makes it a real experience and a perfect event to be there!

I'd join her concerts again anytime and anywhere, if I'll have time for sure! Hope she will come to Düsseldorf too! I'm waiting for her CD to buy it in real and hope she'll release her album soon! Absolutely the best concert I was ever at, honestly I don't think any other artist could top this. She had such an incredible presence on stage, every eye was on her and her wonderful team. Dua and her dancers moved gracefully and fluidly, with bursts of power and energy. Her vocals were insanely beautiful, every word was sung with such passion and love. Her grand finale of IDGAF and New Rules was simply amazing, with breathtaking choreography and stunning visuals behind her. The band sounded great and the backup vocalists and dancers were on point for every minute. Without a doubt in my mind it was the very best live performance I have ever seen, and I don't think anything in the future will ever compare to it.

SHE IS AMAZING!! I can't even begin to explain, I can go on for days. She connected very well with every single person in the audience! I don't know how she does it but we each left feeling as if we each had our own experience with her. I LOVE every single one of her songs and HER in general! So much love was sent to her from the audience and we were all brought together by that. She is so very humble and sweet to every person even though at times we were difficult because we wouldn't leave when stage crew told us to because we wanted to spend more time with her. I got a picture with her and that just wrapped the night of an already perfect day at the concert!! I hope to see her again in concert, I'll be one of the first in line. I LOVE DUA!!!!

Oh, wow. Dua Lipa was absolutely fantastic! She is extraordinarily talented and really knows how to work a crowd. The band was brilliant — and I can say it was definitely loud enough!

I was very lucky to see her at a venue such as the Apollo. Such a small venue for somebody doing an arena tour! We got the tickets very early on, before she became massive, and I’m very glad we did.

The whole way home I was smiling. The last song — New Rules — set the place on fire, that last chorus was insanely good, and all complete with confetti canons!

Thank you for the time, Dua Lipa! Money well-spent; it was worth every second!

I hope she reads this. SO lemme spill the tea. It was freaking amazing. I was so close I could see ever pore on her, and lemme tell you there isn’t many. She’s so amazing and I felt the show ran pretty smoothly except for the fact that it was very hot and everyone around you was sweating their ass off. But she was great. Best night of my life seeing the love of my life. She was so good and it was so beautiful if she ever were to return I would be there in a heart beat. Though the initial show was cancelled I wasn’t one bit mad after attending this one and it was really nice that my old tickets still were valid. Thanks dua, love you lots. -your biggest fan:)

It was the most lit concert i had ever attended. Dua was so full of life & super hyped for the whole concert. Im still upset that yesterday had come to an end way too soon. The most memorable memory i had was the moment she teared uo in her speech for 'New Love' as that song was way too genuine and its from the most vulnerable side of hers. The next memorable moment was the participation in 'IDGAF'the crowd was so wild, and Dua also had a moment with us when she remixed the sentence 'I dont give a F' like amazing man this is the most mesmerising concert i had ever attended. She truly was the most amazing beautiful person I have ever seen. Her voice was a bit tired, as she said, but she still did sound like an actual angel ! She has amazing stage confidence and her moves were gorgeous. I didn't think it was possible to fall in love all over again with Dua. I was also supposed to be balcony but I paid some extra $40 and got barricade ! I was so excited and emotional because Hello I Get To See THE Dua Lipa Up Close. She also stared at me :') An actual angel ! Definitely spend those coins on this talented gal. Dua also looks even more gorgeous in person I cried.

One of the best and enjoyable concerts I’ve ever been to. I’m in stalls standing and very close to the stage. I enjoyed more in a smaller venue in Brixton O2 Academy than O2 at Greenwich Peninsula. The crowds are behaving very well therefore, no pushing or fighting from behind.

Dua Lipa is amazing, she sang really well and performed really good. Love her music songs. She speaks out really well to the fans; she does care for her fans.

The stage screen, sound system and lightings are awesome.

I especially enjoyed the last 2 songs. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Dua Lipa as world tour stars: 'I just want to keep people dancing'

After kicking off a world tour with a concert in Berlin, superstar Dua Lipa says she has one goal for fans in places like Taipei, Austin, Lisbon and Seoul: "I just want to keep people dancing."

Having released her third album "Radical Optimism" collaborating with indie band Tame Impala, much of 2024 sees Dua Lipa away from the studio - and also from modelling, podcasting and, more recently, acting in supporting roles in Hollywood films like "Barbie" and "Argylle" - and on tour .

One highlight of her upcoming concerts in Europe, North America and Asia is set to be an October event at the renowned Royal Albert Hall in her home city of London.

"I'm really, really looking forward to it," she told dpa. "It's such an iconic venue and I'm very excited to do something in a more amphitheatre setting, and it's almost like creating my own festival."

But after multiple Grammy and Brit awards, large arena concerts and days on Hollywood film sets, the 28-year-old singer says she still gets stage fright.

"I always get it," she says. "I get nervous before I go on stage, and then once I'm on I'm there and I'm focused and ready to take on anything. But of course, like, I get nervous."

How does she cope? "I just ride it. I do my warm ups, I hang out with my dancers, and then we go on stage."

Nice. I want to them bring back concert specials back on tv. I am find with the documentary with some music clips but let it be its own special for anticipation for a live showing of the full show like back in the 90s. Plus have them on be a exclusive deal with a challenge ( mtv, bet, HBO, ABC etc) will hopefully bring back views.

It will probably be announced when it’s finished being edited. The streaming surface for it hasn’t been decided yet but it’ll likely be Netflix or Apple TV+

Fresh from her headliner set at Glastonbury earlier this summer, the Future Nostalgia album maker is enjoying a long and lazy summer off from music as she enjoys some downtime with friends and her beau, Callum Turner .

Looking radiant in her most-recent postcards from holiday, the British-Albanian singer showed off her golden tan and epic abs in a series of bikini posts shared with her 87.7 million Instagram followers.

In one photo, Dua, 29, looked incredible in an artsy butterfly-print bikini top and matching string bottoms, which she paired with a ruffled lace mini skirt.

Dua Lipa says "cannot wait" as she is set to perform in Mumbai in November 2024.

Dua Lipa will be coming to India soon! The singer will be a part of the Zomato Feeding India Concert (ZFIC) 2024 and will be headlining the concert set to take place on November 30, 2024, at MMRDA, BKC in Mumbai.

The tour is in support of Dua’s third album, Radical Optimism, which soared to No. 1 in 11 countries upon its release, including the UK, where it became the biggest album debut by a UK artist in 2024 and achieved the highest week-one sales by a UK female artist since 2021.

On Friday, Dua Lipa’s fans were left excited after the big announcement was made. The ‘Levitating’ singer also expressed her excitement for her return to India. “My recent trip to India was a beautiful reminder of how much I love this place. The warmth and energy I felt were amazing, and I can’t wait to return in November 2024 to perform for an incredible audience at the Zomato Feeding India Concert,” she said in a statement.

The tickets of the concert will be available for purchase from August 29, 2024.

Dua Lipa’s ‘Radical Optimism’ album was released in May this year. Back then, she also appeared on Saturday Night Live and said, “My third album just dropped, and it’s called Radical Optimism. A lot of people ask me what that means. To me, it’s like looking on the bright side of any situation.”

“We all have problems, even me. Like there’s people online who say, Dua Lipa is always on vacation. Which is totally wrong because I’m British, so we call it a holiday. There’s people who called my dancing lazy and said, ‘Go, girl, give us nothing.’ But I didn’t give you nothing, I gave you the greatest meme of all time,” she joked.

Zomato’s Feeding India Concert marks Dua’s second performance in the country since 2019, when she performed at a music festival in Mumbai. The pre-sale tickets for the concert will be exclusively available on the Live tab of the Zomato app for HSBC cardholders from 12 pm on August 27, 2024 till August 29, 2024. Following this, the tickets will be available for purchase starting August 29, 2024.

Grammy-winning singer, Dua Lipa, who is set to come India in November for her second concert here, took to her social media handle on Saturday to announce her excitement. The Levitating fame will be performing in Zomato Feeding India Concert, CEO Deepinder Goyal had announce earlier on Friday.

“India, I’m coming back!! my trip at the start of this year was a beautiful reminder of how much I love this place,” she wrote in an Instagram post along with pictures from her trip and poster of the upcoming concert.

“The warmth and energy I felt from everyone I met there was amazing, and I can’t wait to see you again to perform in November!!!! 💛 more infooo at dualipa.com,” she added.

The global pop-star spent the last days of 2023 in Rajasthan , diving into the rich cultural tapestry of India.

During her time in the country, Dua embraced the local cuisine, explored the diverse fashion, and connected with India’s spiritual side, making the most of her visit. She shared glimpses of her experiences on social media, posting pictures and videos that captured her memorable moments.

Expressing her gratitude, she wrote , “I feel so beyond lucky to end my year here in India. Thank you to all the wonderful people here who have shown us so much love, kindness, hospitality and generosity. This experience has been deeply meaningful. I feel lucky to be in and within the magic with my family where we have had the time to explore, regroup, recharge and restart. Ready for the year ahead. What a joy!!! (yellow heart emoticon)!!!!”

During her trip, Dua also visited New Delhi, where she explored iconic landmarks like Humayun’s Tomb and sought blessings with her family at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib.

Earlier, in 2019, Dua Lipa performed at the OnePlus Music Festival in Navi Mumbai .

According to Goyal, the company’s motive behind this drive is to strengthen India’s resolve to eradicate malnutrition and hunger. Taking to his official X handle, Goyal wrote, “Zomato Feeding India Concert (ZFIC) is back! T he event will be held at MMRDA, BKC in Mumbai and will also see performances f rom leading Indian artistes. The first edition of Zomato’s drive was held in December 2022, which was headlined by Post Malone.

As per a report by Business Today , the tickets for the India tour will go on pre-sale for HSBC cardholders from August 27 at 12 pm, general sales will start on August 29. Tickets can be purchased though the Zomato app. Ticket resale is permitted only through the official Zomato Live reselling platform.

A student at Palm Bay Magnet High School in Florida stabbed another student with scissors during a fight, leading to a brief lockdown. Both students were hospitalized and parents expressed concerns about safety measures. The school district informed parents through text messages and emails, but some heard from their children.
