Lord's to relax pavilion dress code and remove age restrictions for matches in The Hundred
The Home of Cricket will host all of Spirit's men's matches as well as the final in the new competition's inaugural season, and there will be no requirement for those watching on from the famous pavilion to wear a jacket and tie

MCC will relax the dress code in the Lord's pavilion for matches in The Hundred, and there will be no minimum age for entry, in an effort to introduce a wider audience to the sport.
The Home of Cricket will host all of London Spirit's men's matches as well as the final in the new competition's inaugural season, and there will be no requirement for those watching on from the famous pavilion to wear a jacket and tie.
The dress code - "ties and tailored coats and acceptable trousers with appropriate shoes"for men and "dresses; or skirts or trousers worn with blouses, and appropriate shoes" for women - is usually strictly policed, with rare exceptions made only in extreme weather.
However, in a memo to members this week, seen by The Cricketer, the club explained that the traditional expectations would not apply for The Hundred "in support of... the general tone of the competition".
SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTER
Furthermore, dress regulations for the members' friends enclosures have been eliminated entirely.
Typically, children under the age of 12 are not permitted inside the pavilion, but no such rule will be in place during The Hundred.
Lord's won praise for hosting 250 schoolchildren during the World Cup match between Bangladesh and Pakistan last summer, and MCC is throwing the pavilion doors open once again with a similar objective in mind.
The ECB intends The Hundred to be more accessible to a greater number of young and ethnically diverse families during its first season.
It has invested heavily in its establishment and promotion, and has cut ticket prices to attract families.
Tickets range from £8 to £35 for adults, with under 16s able to gain entry for £5 or less at every venue in both the men's and women's tournaments.
Lord's is also making several of its stands alcohol-free for The Hundred matches, including the lower tier of the Tavern Stand, "to encourage first-time visitors".

Lord's cricket ground relaxes dress code after record temperatures in UK
Members will not be required to wear jackets in pavilion with mercury rising to 40°c for first time in the country.

Lord's relaxed its strict pavilion dress code on Tuesday with members not required to wear jackets as temperatures soared, for the start of the county championship game between Middlesex and Sussex.
Most of Britain is gripped in a heatwave with temperatures of more than 40° Celsius recorded for the first time in the country.
"MCC [Marylebone Cricket club] has advised us that the dress regulations in the Pavilion will be relaxed on Tuesday 19 July," a statement on the Middlesex County Cricket Club website said.
"Gentlemen in the Pavilion that day will not be required to wear a jacket, although MCC will still require gentlemen to wear ties.
"Spectators should also adhere to the usual dress regulations on trousers and shoes."
It is not the first time hot weather has forced a relaxation of one of British sport's most traditional venues with the rules also being relaxed in 2018.
The stifling heat also led to two county championship games between Gloucestershire and Hampshire and Northants and Lancashire having three reduced 90-minute sessions on Tuesday with play finishing early in the "interest of spectator and player welfare".
Several horse racing events have also been cancelled in Britain because of the heatwave.

is there any dress code while visiting museums and/or galleries?
also, we have bolshoy tkts. can i go there with jeans+t shirt (that's usually the way i dress during my vacation...)??

> is there any dress code while visiting museums and/or galleries?

http://bolshoi.ru/en/visit/sbory/
Be aware more casual attire (such as shorts) may get you stopped from visiting a church...but many will offer wraps and head coverings for women,
never bothered in church from visiting with T shirt and on summer time, even with shorts.
> even with shorts
Why ask about dress code then if you ignore it.
Imho jeans and t-shirt for Bolshoy is inappropriate, so are sneakers and other sports wear. Although in some other theater like Taganka and, Lenkom, for example, it will pass as OK.
There is no written or legal dress code with museums or the Bolshoi for the simple reason that here the people who visit theatres and museums do not need to be instructed on how to dress appropriately.
http://www.bolshoi.ru/en/visit/sbory/
i do not ignore it.
usually we travel during summer time. usually - shorts.
i was never asked not to go inside a church because of this outfit. if someone would asked me to stay out - ill understand.
my wife is worried that i might stay out of the bolshoi if ill come with my jeans...
if someone would have asked me not to go in the bolshoi since i'm wearing my jeans - well, this is something i rather know - in advance (tkts already purchased..)
If tickets are already purchased why don't you just pack a pair of slacks, dress shoes and one collared shirt/ polo.
It's a cultural place your look is a reflection of your understanding and respect.
since i'm not coming from hotel. it will be the end of my day at city.i will not carry extra outfit for that, unless i know i have no choice.

Lord's relaxes dress code as MCC members get hot under the collar

The hottest day yet of an abnormally sweltering English summer claimed a notable etiquette casualty on Thursday evening, as Marylebone Cricket Club announced a relaxation of its strict dress code for members entering the Pavilion at Lord's.
Spectators attending Middlesex's Vitality Blast match against Hampshire were informed prior to the start of the match, at 6.15pm, that there was no longer a requirement for them to wear jackets in the Long Room, due to the "abnormally warm" weather.
Temperatures in London touched 34C on Thursday afternoon, with the possibility of an even hotter day to come on Friday - potentially threatening the hottest ever recorded in the country, 38.5C in August 2003.
Ordinarily, Lord's dress code for men states: "Gentlemen shall wear lounge suits or tailored jacket and trousers, shirt, tie or cravat and shoes with socks." Women must wear: "dresses; or skirts or trousers (which may be cropped below the knee) or culottes, with blouses or smart tops, and formal shoes, boots or sandals."
However, a tweet from @homeofcricket, the official Lord's Cricket Ground account, ahead of the match read: "Due to the abnormally warm temperatures, MCC has decided to dispense with requirement for gentlemen to wear jackets in the Pavilion and arrive wearing one. This applies to Members of MCC and Middlesex and their guests."

It comes after India's touring team short their ongoing warm-up match against Essex, from four days to three, for what was believed to be concerns about the parched outfield at Chelmsford, and the desire to more closely manage their workloads ahead of next week's first Test at Edgbaston, starting on August 1.
While Lord's has long held a reputation for inflexibility when it comes to dress codes - and other codes, for that matter: it wasn't until 1999 that women were finally admitted to the Long Room - in reality, MCC has relaxed many of its regulations in recent years.
A loosening of the club's famous egg-and-bacon tie - both literally and metaphorically - was first undertaken a decade ago by the club's then-chief executive, the liberally minded Australian Keith Bradshaw, whose efforts to portray the club in a new light also included his championing, on MCC's behalf, of pink-ball floodlit cricket. Further relaxations have been proposed ahead of the launch of the ECB's new city-based competition in 2020, which, with its family-friendly remit, may involve permitting children into the pavilion.
Certainly the club seems slightly less set in its ways than the other two big beasts of the British Social Season - Wimbledon, where in 2015 Lewis Hamilton was ejected from the Royal Box after an "unfortunate misunderstanding" with the dress code, and Royal Ascot, which actually beefed up its dress code this year in a bid to keep a tighter rein on spectator behaviour.
"Additions to the official dress code in 2018 make socks a requirement for gentlemen," according to the Royal Ascot style guide. "Our dress code is traditional, woven into the very fabric of our history."
There wasn't a whole lot of tradition on display at Lord's on Thursday night, where - as Hampshire wilted in the evening heat, losing their last nine wickets for 54 runs in a 22-run defeat - a "kiss-cam" was scouring the stands and zeroing in on amorous couples.
And while they may have been unusually hot under the collar, it is not thought that the cameras lingered too long on the members at this stage of the club's evolution.

Lord's relaxes dress code for Pavilion as heat rises

LONDON, July 19 (Reuters) - Lord's relaxed its strict Pavilion dress code on Tuesday with members not required to wear jackets as temperatures soared into the mid 30s Celsius for the start of the County Championship game between Middlesex and Sussex.
Much of Britain is gripped in a heatwave with temperatures expected to threaten all-time records later on Tuesday, with predictions of the mercury rising above 40 degrees. read more
"MCC (Marylebone Cricket club) has advised us that the dress regulations in the Pavilion will be relaxed on Tuesday 19 July," a statement on the Middlesex County Cricket Club website said.
The stifling heat also led to two County Championship games between Gloucestershire and Hampshire and Northants and Lancashire having three reduced-length 90-minute sessions on Tuesday with play finishing at 1630 local time (1530GMT) in the "interest of spectator and player welfare".
Several horse racing events have also been cancelled in Britain because of the heatwave.
