We are a small Hawaiian Owned & Operated Company that’s proud to share our culture, stories, & passion for our islands with you.

Native Born & Raised

As high school sweethearts that attended The Kamehameha Schools (school for native Hawaiian children), we decided long ago that Hawai’i is where we were both born, and Hawai’i is where we would stay. We’ve had the honor of raising our  3 boys and 3 girls in Maui and now that the children are grown (and COVID-19 has changed the world!)  God has presented us with an opportunity to build a company where our Christian values and the Aloha Spirit would be a part of everything we do. It is our privilege to share that Aloha Spirit with you and to welcome you into our ‘ohana (family).

Doug & Lilia Chong, Owners

Doug’s family history in Ke’anae, a little Hawaiian Village along the Road to Hana dates back 150 years and Doug’s parents still live in his childhood home that he grew up in. Known as “Halfway to Hana,” Ke’anae is also the home and name of the family’s fruit stand that has been operating for nearly 40 years, where Doug’s Mom created “the original banana bread,” which has been made synonymous with this famous road! In 1983 Doug was accepted into the Kamehameha Schools on O’ahu where he learned more about the Hawaiian culture, history and language. He graduated in 1987 from Kamehameha and moved back to Maui with Lilia to start their family. He also went on to obtain a Master of Theology Degree from Pacific Rim Bible College, and ChristBuilt Christian Seminary.

Doug has 15 years in Hawai’i’s Tour & Transportation business. As a State of Hawai’i Commercial Licensed Driver, his professional resume includes: Commercial Driver License Trainer & Supervisor, Commercial Driver License Manager, and most recently General Manager of Haleakala Tours & Operations for a local tour operator. In these previous positions he has trained and assisted many tour guides in obtaining their Commercial Driver’s License. His credentials include Commercial Driver License Instructor, Cardio Pulmonary Recitation & First Aid Instructor, Certified State of Hawai’i Tour Guide through the University of Hawai’i, as well as a Certified Guide through the National Association of Interpreters.

As a certified and licensed professional, Doug takes pride in training Hawaiian Style’s Guides and being hands on in every part of the operations. From selecting the perfect custom vehicles to serve our guests, to cutting the hiking trails with his own two hands, his mission is to give our guests an experience that will last a lifetime and be second to none.

Lilia Chong, Owner & Director of Sales & Marketing

Born and raised on the island of Kaua’i, Lilia attended the Kamehameha Schools in 1983 as a seventh grade border and graduated in 1989.

Lilia has over 20 years experience in Hawai’i’s Visitor’s industry. Starting her guest service career on the opening teams of two prestigious Wailea resorts, she learned early on that she was made for guest service and ensuring that visitors to the islands had memorable stays. Balancing their young family and the “hotel hours” was tough, so Lilia moved to the finance part of the visitor industry doing accounting so she could work 8-5. Working as an accountant for an activity agency that sold tickets for lu’au, helicopter tours and all the fun activities in Hawai’i, Lilia found herself being drawn to the service side of the visitor industry once again. Literally starting “at the bottom” as a Call Center agent and working the shifts that nobody wanted, Lilia was named “Rookie of the Year” after her first year on the sales team. Over the next 17 years, Lilia received several promotions and most recently served as the Regional Manager for Expedia Hawai’i. She had the honor of leading a team of 8 Concierge Managers and 150 Concierges throughout the State of Hawai’i.

It’s with great humility that Lilia joins her high school sweetheart as co-owner of Hawaiian Style Tours where she can put all her experience and “TLC” into making each tour memorable and perfect.
