PGA Tour 2K23 is finally nearly here – having kept fans waiting for around two years.

The new game, which comes in three editions , promises a ton of content – from a start-studded roster of golfing pros, including Tiger Woods, to the world’s most well known and respected gold courses.

PGA Tour 2K23: Course Designer

The course designer in PGA Tour 2K21 had 288,00 courses designed by the community, and it looks like the mode will be just as popular in PGA Tour 2K23. If you did make a course in the previous iteration of the game, then don’t worry you can bring them along with you.

They won’t be published straight away though, you will have the chance to go in and make some changes and well needed updates with the new content in the game. Fortunately for players this mode is more user friendly now, according to the developers, this way it should entice new players into the course designer. 

This means making sure there are less things on a screen at a time and other quality of life improvements, as well as a detailed tutorial to ease players in. 

One of the biggest additions to PGA Tour 2K23’s Course Designer , is the focus on new flora. There has been a large focus on foliage, trees and nature in general for the new game, whilst there is scope for more content to potentially release in the future.

PGA Tour 2K23 has an impressive roster of playable golf pros, but there are some inclusions that players and fans may not have seen coming.

PGA Tour 2K23 is the latest installment in 2K’s series that’s perfect for golfing enthusiasts and sports game fans alike. The title includes enhanced controls, new modes, additional tools for course designer, a customizable MyPlayer that users can take all the way to championship finals, and more. Tiger Woods is featured on the game’s cover art and is one of many pro golfers that will be playable in PGA Tour 2K23 . Players can even go against the golfing icon in the game’s MyCareer mode. Besides Woods, there are a number of other pro golfers that players can compete against or control themselves.

This iteration of the series is especially significant for not only PGA Tour 2K23 cover athlete Woods , but fans of the athlete as well. It’s been nearly a decade since the pro appeared on a cover of a video game. Woods wouldn’t just be the game’s poster boy though, he also took the role of executive director, providing 2K’s team with his extensive knowledge and experience throughout his career.

Besides Woods, other sports icons will be featured in the game, but not one's players may initially expect. By pre-ordering or getting any of the special editions of PGA Tour 2K23 , players will be able to golf with NBA legend Micheal Jordan. Unexpectedly, another surprise NBA star is coming to the game as well. Making two 2K game appearances this year, Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry will also be available. For the first time, on PGA Tour 2K23 's iconic golf courses , players can pit the likes of Micheal Jordan and Steph Curry against pros like Tiger Woods, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, and others.

2K has confirmed that additional pro golfers will be added to the roster after its launch, but so far no reveals have been made. That being said, with PGA Tour 2K23 being playable right now, it's only a matter of time before an announcement is made about which golfers will be making their way to the game. In addition to players, new courses will be added as well. Players worried about being locked out of the content due to paid DLC can breathe easy. Any new golfers or courses that come to the game after launch will be available for free.

In PGA Tour 2K23 ’s different modes like MyCareer , Exhibition, Divot Derby, and Multiplayer, players can use or compete against all pro golfers listed on the roster. With inclusions like Micheal Jordan and Stephen Curry, it wouldn’t be a shock if other sports celebrities are added to the game down the line. At the moment only NBA stars have been added, but there is potential for NFL or MLB players to join the roster in the future.

'PGA Tour 2K23' Reveals Full List of Playable Pro Golfers - Screens & Trailer

2K set a tee time for  PGA Tour 2K23 , the forthcoming entry in the golf simulation video game franchise from HB Studios. 

Featuring PGA TOUR icon and all-time sports great Tiger Woods as the cover athlete,  PGA Tour 2K23  celebrates Woods’ legacy by introducing him as both a playable in-game pro and an Executive Director advising the game development team.

Woods leads a roster of more than 14 male and female pros at launch (additional pros and courses will be added as free post-launch DLC and be available to all players), including Justin Thomas, Lexi Thompson, Tony Finau, Lydia Ko, Collin Morikawa, Will Zalatoris, Brooke Henderson and more. Players can step into the tee box as one of the pros in Exhibition, multiplayer and Divot Derby play, or go head-to-head with them in a battle to climb the leaderboard and claim the FedExCup in PGA TOUR MyCAREER mode. In addition to the pros, the broadcast-style presentation and commentary team of Rich Beem and Luke Elvy also return, with the addition of English golf pro and broadcaster Henni Koyack.

2K today revealed many of the playable pros available in  PGA Tour 2K23 . In addition to cover icon Tiger Woods, several new faces join the international roster, including 2022 FedEx St. Jude Champion Will Zalatoris and Spanish power-hitter Jon Rahm, as well as franchise-first female pros Lexi Thompson, Canadian record-setter Brooke Henderson, and New Zealand prodigy Lydia Ko. Returning pros include  PGA Tour 2K21  cover athlete Justin Thomas and 2022 3M Open and Rocket Mortgage Classic winner Tony Finau. Each pro is decked out in true-to-life attire and gear, and features a unique set of attributes representative of their skill set. Players can step into the tee box as one of the pros in Exhibition, Multiplayer and Divot Derby play, or go head-to-head with them in a battle to climb the leaderboard and claim the FedExCup in PGA TOUR MyCAREER mode. The pros available at launch in  PGA Tour 2K23  include: Tiger Woods; Justin Thomas; Lexi Thompson; Lydia Ko; Brooke Henderson; Will Zalatoris; Collin Morikawa; Tony Finau; Jon Rahm; Rickie Fowler; Justin Rose; Xander Schauffele; And more. PGA Tour 2K23  will include 20 licensed courses at launch. New additions include the South Course of Wilmington Country Club, The Renaissance Club, St. George’s Golf and Country Club and more. The industry-leading Course Designer also returns, offering players the opportunity to build their dream courses and share them with a global online community.

MyPLAYER personalization returns and players can equip their MyPLAYERS just like Tiger with Nike Golf, TaylorMade and Bridgestone Golf apparel and gear. Even more apparel options are available from licensed brands, including Callaway Golf, FootJoy, Malbon Golf, Nike Golf, PUMA, Titleist, TravisMathew and more (some cosmetic items and consumables may require unlocking with virtual currency (earned or paid) or via gameplay). Clubs and balls from brands including Bridgestone Golf, Callaway Golf, COBRA, Mizuno, Odyssey Golf, Scotty Cameron, TaylorMade, Titleist and Wilson are available to deck out players’ golf bags and keep them swinging with swag. In addition to the returning analog stick swing, a three-click swing option is also available for an added level of customization so players can play the way they like.

PGA Tour 2K23  offers new casual modes to help rookies get into the game, while giving seasoned players new challenges and opportunities to work on their skills. The introduction of Topgolf offers a unique experience emulating the popular golf entertainment phenomenon, where players can aim for targets and try to earn the highest score. Training mode offers multiple ways to develop skills, including swing calibration, lessons, chipping practice, a driving range and a putting green.

Online multiplayer features (cross-gen but not cross-platform) also return for  PGA Tour 2K23 . Online Societies encourage players to squad up with friends for custom tournaments and full seasons, while Clubhouse Pass will provide post-launch content and goals for players to enjoy well into the future. Clubhouse Pass is available in three tiers: Free, Premium ($9.99/season) and Premium + ($19.99/season).  PGA Tour 2K23  required to play content. More details to follow.

The game will be available in multiple editions, each with unique cover art depicting painted portraits of Tiger Woods:

Golf is one of the most popular and respected sports on the planet, and its top performers are superstars in the eyes of fans. Many of these stars have found their way into the PGA Tour games, meaning you have a long list of incredible golfers to tee off with in PGA Tour 2K23 .

The golfers in PGA Tour 2K23 have a variety of styles. You'll find perfect putters, long drivers, clutch chippers, and legends that can do it all. If you pick one of the best golfers in the game, you'll have no problem finding the green and sinking the ball.

10 Steph Curry

Golf is a fairly universal sport. Outside of professional play, there are plenty of people who partake for leisure. One such player is Steph Curry. The NBA superstar is known for his incredible three-point shots, multiple MVP awards, and championships won with the Golden State Warriors.

Curry makes his PGA Tour 2K debut with a cameo in 2K23. He's a very well-balanced character in the game. You'll have no problem sending balls down range and earning a good score with this baller-turned-golfer.

9 Will Zalatoris

Will Zalatoris is one of the rising stars of professional golf. He was victorious at the 2020 TPC Colorado Championship and placed second in his Masters Tournament debut in 2021. Then he went on to another second-place finish at the 2022 PGA Championship.

This golfer is one of the easiest to use in the game. You'll feel plenty comfortable stepping up to the tee with Will Zalatoris. His swing is crisp, and his accuracy is on point. There's nothing flashy about him, but he is a solid golfer in PGA Tour 2K3.

8 Tony Finau

Tony Finau was born in 1989, won the Utah State Amateur Championship in 2006, and immediately turned pro the following year. This came after turning down several college basketball scholarships to focus on his golfing career.

The 6ft4 golfer is a towering figure in PGA Tour 2K3. He has a ton of power behind him, making his nickname "Big Tone" more than appropriate. If you want to send the ball as far as possible, look no further than Finau.

7 Collin Morikawa

The 2020 PGA Championship and 2021 The Open Championship winner is a great golfer to utilize in PGA Tour 2K23. Collin Morikawa was previously ranked second in the world and started his PGA Tour career with 22 consecutive cuts. That is just behind Tiger Woods' streak of 25.

His power does leave much to be desired, but Collin has pretty good stats in every other category. You'll rarely miss a putt using Morikawa and the ball will almost always go where you want it with his incredible accuracy and timing.

6 Brooke Henderson

Brooke Henderson won her first major, the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, when she was just 18. The 2022 Evian Championship saw her win her second ever major. This propelled her into the conversation of being one of the best Canadian golfers of all time.

Her specialty is getting the ball off the tee. Brooke has amazing timing and swing path stats, which allows you to take an early advantage on a hole. There won't be too many adjustments to make with Henderson holding the club.

Lydia Ko was formerly ranked number one in the world of women's professional golf. This came just a few months before her 18th birthday, making her the youngest golfer in history to reach the top ranking. Prior to that, she racked up over a dozen pro golf accolades and awards.

She is easily the best woman golfer in PGA Tour 2K23. Her swing path is decent and her ability to putt from long distances without trouble makes her a very clutch golfer to pick. If you want to ensure the ball gets in the hole, Lydia Ko is a great choice.

4 Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele is a successful golfer who turned pro in 2015. That has led to seven PGA Tour victories and a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Xander is an above-average golfer who can drive the ball down the range with ease.

If you want a golfer who can get to the green in as few swings as possible, Xander is the way to go. He's perfect for smaller holes that are only a couple of hundred yards in length. His hole-in-one capability is too good to pass up.

3 Justin Thomas

Justin Thomas took home the trophy at five PGA Tour events and the FedEx Cup in 2017. That was a breakout year that only began his success in professional golf. Thomas won the second major of the year, the PGA Championship, in both his standout 2017 and in 2022.

The former rank one in the world is an all-around golfer in PGA Tour 2K23. His weakest attribute is his putt path, but you won't need to worry about longer putts with his power, timing, swing path, and shaping.

2 Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan joins Steph Curry as another basketball player to be a part of PGA Tour 2K23's roster. Jordan's love for golf is well-known and is even how Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes were able to trick him into coming to their world to play basketball with them in Space Jam.

The icon has surprisingly good stats in the game. 2K Games clearly wanted to make his legendary status on the court transfer over to the links. Everything is pretty evened out, making him one of the most overall useful golfers in the game.

Tiger Woods is perhaps the most prolific golfer of all time . He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2021 with 11 PGA Player of the Year awards and 15 major tournament championships under his belt prior to the induction.

There's no better golfer than Tiger Woods in PGA Tour 2K23. Woods has unmatched power, putting skills, and accuracy. If you want to ensure victory on every single course you play on, you'll need to pick Tiger Woods, and he'll basically do the work for you in-game.

2K today revealed the officially licensed courses available to play in PGA Tour 2K23. 

In addition to 17 courses returning from PGA Tour 2K21, three new courses - the South Course of Wilmington Country Club, The Renaissance Club, and St. George’s Golf and Country Club – round out a full list of 20 courses available at launch to keep "players swinging with swag and challenging their crews on a total of 360 unique fairways and dance floors."

In order to create pristine in-game renditions of real-life courses, 2K and HB Studios use a combination of aerial drone footage, lidar data, high resolution photography, and supporting assets provided by each course’s management to ensure each course is true to life and features realistic buildings, signage, hazards, fairways, greens and climate. The process ensures the most authentic PGA Tour video game experience available to date. Courses such as Riviera Country Club, home of the Genesis Open, which was recently named by PGA Tour as an elevated tournament for the next season, truly shine, down to the smallest detail.

When factoring in Gregg’s free housing, free caddie and free rental car, it’s evident that most LET players would have to finish well inside of the top-20 to make any money.

With ridiculous amounts of money being thrown around in professional golf these days, it’s important to remember the other side of the coin as well. There are countless professionals out there who struggle to get by on their golf salary.

54-hole golf tour deemed eligible for OWGR points…but it’s not LIV

After a seventeen-month application process, a 54-hole golf tour was deemed eligible for OWGR points.

Unfortunately, for LIV Golf and their fans, it was the Clutch Pro Tour.

After the decision, which is effective immediately, OWGR chairman Peter Dawson issued a statement.

“This is a significant milestone for golf, and OWGR is deeply encouraged by the achievement and the continued efforts in developing the sport of golf in the United Kingdom.”

“We look forward to watching the progress of the Clutch Pro Tour as it continues to play a key role in the development of players from the region,” Dawson added.

The Clutch Pro Tour operates in the United Kingdom and features a 36-hole cut. It also has an open qualifying school.

Charlie Woods attempting to qualify for spot at 2024 U.S. Open

As first reported by  Bob Harig of Sports Illustrated , Charlie Woods will be attempting to qualify for this year’s U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2.

The first stage of qualifying for this year’s tournament will be an 18-hole local event on Thursday, April 25th, in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

There will be 84 players in the field, five of which will reach the 36-hole qualifier that will take place in June.

Earlier this season, Charlie attempted to qualify for the Cognizant Classic, and struggled, shooting an 86.

If the younger Woods is able to qualify, he will tee it up in the same field as his father in a few months at one of the more historic U.S. Open venues.

PGA Tour 2K23 is set to launch on October 14 — October 11 if you’re picking up the Deluxe or Tiger Woods editions. The latest golf game will feature some new golfers, as well as new and returning courses. So, which courses made the cut for PGA Tour 2K23? Let’s take a look at all the available courses that we know will be in the game.

The course list includes quite a few ones that were featured in PGA Tour 2K21 , as well as some fresh courses. Here’s a look at all the available courses that will be in PGA Tour 2K23:

Keep in mind a few things about this current list. First, there will be more courses made available to PGA Tour 2K23 after launch. 2K has stated that additional courses that are officially licensed, including Pebble Beach Golf Club, Spyglass Hill, and Torrey Pines North and South Courses, will be made available post-launch as free DLC.

Second, there will be a number of notable courses that will not be officially licensed for PGA Tour 2K23. This will almost assuredly include the courses for the four Majors, as EA Sports has an exclusive agreement for the licensing rights for those events. Those events will be a part of EA Sports’ upcoming golf game, EA Sports PGA Tour, which is slated to go live in the Spring of 2023.

This guide will be updated to reflect future developments.

The Best Skills in PGA Tour 2K23

The best skills in PGA Tour 2K23 can be a bit subjective. Since there are about 42 skills with three different tier levels, there are so many ways you can combine these skills to create a player build.

Some skills rely on synergy, archetypes, and playstyle to make them effective. There are also skills that can be useful at any time in the course.

While these skills aren’t a big factor in terms of gameplay, you will need every bit of help to master the game of golf in PGA Tour 2K23.

In this post, we will tackle each of these skills to find out which ones are the best skills that can help your game, and rank them in a tier list.

Types of Skills

While skills can be categorized by clubs, it is better to categorize them on usage.

There are three different skill types:

• Support skills – activate while struggling and deactivate with good performance
• Momentum skills – activate when performing well and deactivate with poor performance
• Passive skills – always active in the specified scenario

Support skills aren’t really good because it banks on you having a bad game to activate.

Passive skills are only available at the max tier of every club, but they are all good.

Momentum skills will be the best ones to have since it helps you keep your rhythm up.

All Skills in PGA Tour 2K23

All the skills in PGA Tour 2K23 are divided into clubs. Each club has its own skill path, and each skill will have 3 different levels. Each level will need a skill point, so it will become more expensive to level it up.

You only have 50 skill points you can allocate once you reach level 50. Leveling up is one of the main ways of improving your player fast because you will be earning coins , getting club fittings, and skill points.

Best Skills – Tier List

All passive skills.

• Take the Wheel (Driver)
• Forester (Wood)
• In Between (Hybrid)
• Metalhead (Iron)
• Higher Degree (Wedge)
• For Dough (Putter)

All the passive skills are at the end of the skill tree for each club. You will need to allocate a lot of skill points to be able to place them, so you won’t be able to take every single one.

You can probably get 4 passive skills up to level 3, but you should hold off until you see all the skills in the tier list.

The best passive skills should be the Iron, Wedge, Putter, and Driver. These are the most used clubs in the game, and you will be getting your skill points worth by getting them.

Blacksmith – Irons

Normal shots receive a Power boost from the fairway

On Level 3:

• Activation: Score birdie or better 2x
• Deactivation: Score par or worse 2x in a row

Blacksmith is good because the buff gives you a power boost on the fairway for your irons. Irons are one of the most used clubs in the game because it is so versatile.

This is the best skill you can get that isn’t a passive skill in the game. It will help you get to the green quicker on 4-par and 5-par holes.

Dialed In – Wedge

Chip shots receive a Timing boost within 25 YDS of the pin

• Activation: Land within 13.7 YDS of the pin
• Deactivation: Have poor swing timing 3x in a row

Doing chip shots is also a normal occurrence in the game. Every time you overshoot your shot on the green because of the wind or a slightly slow or fast release, you will be chipping to the green.

Tee ‘n Crush-Its – Driver

Normal shots receive a Power boost off the tee.

• Activation: Hit a carry distance of 285.0 YDS or greater

Tee ‘n Crush-Its is amazing because it allows you to pack more power into your driver. Par 5 holes are the easiest holes to pull out an eagle or birdie.

Getting the Power boost off the tee is crucial to you reaching the green in two strokes. It could also benefit you a lot on long Par 4 holes with the same reasoning.

Activation is easy to accomplish as well.

Goal Weight – Putter

Receive a putt weight boost on the green.

• Activation: Sink 2 putts between 5ft – 10ft

Any useful boosts to your putting will work wonders. Learning how to putt is one of the hardest things in the game because of how technical it is.

If you make a mistake, you will lose points that easily. Goal Weight is on S-Tier because its activation is insanely easy. Even if you score a par and deactivate the effects, you can get it back up again.

Migration – Hybrid

Normal shots receive a Swing Path boost from the fairway.

A Swing Path boost for the hybrid is another useful skill to have in your arsenal. They are not used as often as the irons, but the activation allows you to keep the boost up for a long time.

In situations where you drive the ball 290-300 yards off the tee, you can use a hybrid if the hole is about 490-520 yards away from the tee.

You will often encounter these holes, which makes the skill extremely useful in this situation. It allows you to become more consistent in getting to the green.

Short-stuff – Putter

Receive a Putt Path boost on the green

• Activation: Sink 2 putts from within 5 ft

With the same reasoning as the Goal Weight skill, you want to boost your putting skills to score more easily.

The activation does require you to sink 2 putts within 5 ft, which is harder to do. You will need to get the ball close to the hole every time you get to the green.

Perfect Pitch – Wedge

Pitch shots receive a Spin boost within 101 YDS of the pin

Perfect Pitch is a useful skill to have on par-4s. You would want a spin boost to help you get the ball closer to the hole.

You can apply backspin to the ball and let the ball stop upon landing. With a boosted spin boost, the ball will stop quicker.

Spin Class – Hybrid

Normal shots receive a Spin boost from the fairway.

• Activation: Hit 3 Fairways in Regulation
• Deactivation: Miss 2 green in regulation in a row

Spin Class is only on the A-Tier because it is one of the best skills in the early tree. You will have to allocate skills points on the first four skill trees to get the best ones.

With Spin Class, you get a much-needed Spin boost to help you reach the fairway with your hybrid. You just need to remember to switch to your hybrid instead of the wood when you want to apply spins to your shot.

Activation is easy as well, so you will most likely get the skill effect active throughout the course.

Easy Reads – Putter

Receive a Putt Path boost on the green.

• Activation: Land within 3.7 YDS of the pin

Easy Reads gives you another skill that can boost your putting skills. Activation is a bit tricky, but you only need to land it once.

Once you gain enough experience, activating this skill will become much easier.

The Putt Path boost is big enough to get an A-tier. Deactivation is a bit easier to control as well since you need 2 pars in a row.

Too Breezy – Iron

Normal shots receive a Flight boost from the fairway.

• Activation: Hitting into a headwind 5 MPH or greater
• Deactivation: Hit 2 Green in Regulation in a row

Like the Aerodynamics skill of the driver, a flight boost can help you drive the ball in longer distances. This is good when you hit a heavy rough on the fairway because the distance between the hybrid or wood isn’t that far from using the iron.

However, the way you can use this skill is by adding backspin and a higher loft to make the ball stop quicker upon landing.

Calculator – Iron

Pitch shots receive a Shaping boost from the fairway.

• Activation: Land within 10.3 YDS of the pin
• Deactivation: Miss 2 green in regulation

Getting a Shaping boost isn’t all that good. However, this skill can be really useful if you encounter situations where you need to curve the ball (draw or fade).

Activation and deactivation requirement allows you to keep the skill up at all times because they are quite easy to do.

What makes the Calculator skill reach the B-Tier is purely because it is easily available on the skill tree. You will most likely get this skill to unlock the other tiers.

Aerodynamics – Driver

Normal shots receive a Flight boost off the tee.

• Deactivation: Hit 2 green in regulation in a row

Aerodynamics’s flight boost, while adding some loft, can get you a lot of additional yards for your drive.

The skill is attainable on the 4th skill tree path unlock. The activation makes it a bit situational because the headwind isn’t always there. The skill’s boost would give it an S-Tier if not for the activation and deactivation requirements.

Momentum – Wood

Normal shots receive a Swing Path boost from the fairway

• Activation: Score birdie or better 3x

Swing Path will always be hard to time perfectly. Even if you get used to it, getting skills that boost the attribute will help you become more consistent.

When you are using the wood, you are mostly using it to get to the green already. With a more consistent shot, you will get closer to the hole.

The activation for this skill is easy, but the deactivation will get you as well. Because of this, it is only on the B-Tier.

Other Skills

Other skills will highly depend on what you need to improve in your game. Most of the skills listed are good on their own, but you can make a few combinations that can help other skills to become even better.

How to Get Skill Points

The only way to get skill points is by playing the game and leveling up. You will get these rewards and reach up to a total of 50 skill points. Since each skill has three different tiers, you would want to choose the right skills for your build.

How to Create Skill Builds

The best way to create skill builds is by revolving your skills around the best archetype for your play style.

Each archetype has a weakness, and your game should probably have some weaknesses as well. You can choose the Powerhouse archetype, which is weak in accuracy and timing.

Even without the Powerhouse archetype, you might be having trouble already with the swing timings. You can effectively choose skills that allow you to improve on your weaknesses.

Choose skills that synergize well with what you want to improve on. Most of these should be momentum skills because you don’t really want to activate skills that depend on you performing badly.

PGA Tour 2K23 Full Course List Reveal

PGA Tour 2K23 now has its full licensed course list revealed - giving us a glimpse of the tracks where we'll be teeing off this year.

Headlined by the South Course of Wilmington Country Club, The Renaissance Club, and the St. George's Golf and Country Club – the full PGA Tour 2K23 Licensed Course list has just been revealed . With 20 total licensed courses, players will be able to enjoy PGA Tour 2K23 to a tee with full immersion and authenticity.

On top of the seventeen courses returning from PGA Tour 2K21, PGA Tour 2K23's full course list gets three new licensed courses, as mentioned above. This completes a round of twenty total courses for PGA Tour 2K23 – each one licensed so that 2K could recreate them with utmost faithfulness, authenticity, and accuracy. All twenty courses for PGA Tour 2K23 were created by 2K and HB Studios using a combination of aerial drone footage, lidar data, high resolution photography, and supporting assets provided by each course's management to ensure that each one is true to life from its measurements, buildings, signage, hazards, and climate. This ensures that the authentic PGA Tour experience would be replicated in the game down to the smallest detail.

EA Sports PGA Tour: 3 Best Holes at Augusta National Par-3 Course

This year we saw the red-hot Scottie Scheffler pull off the victory for his second Green Jacket and his second major overall at Augusta National. But even before taking in all of the majesty of the big golf course that features some of the most iconic holes in the sport, there’s one smaller course that takes the shine for a day: the Augusta Par-3 Course.

With my home course in real life being a par-3 track, I always love talking about these small wonders and AN’s course is always pure bliss to watch the pros and legends play on. It’s a course that has so much of the same beauty and fun design as the big course, and it’s a blast to play in EA Sports PGA Tour .

All nine of these holes are fun to play and provide their own variations of challenge. But, as with the big course, it’s hard to pick which ones are the best. You can’t go wrong with any one of them, but these three stand out the most and feel the most memorable.

Half of the Par-3 Course’s holes are surrounded by water and that includes the breathtaking sixth. This features a ton of water on the right side while you also have to be wary of the two bunkers guarding the front and back side of the green.

You can choose to go directly at the flag but be aware of the possibility that your ball may roll off into the water, considering the flag’s proximity to the drink. Playing it safe, you can aim for the left side of the green that has much more space, but you may end up with a lengthy putt unless you work some shot-making magic, Whatever you do, you have a couple of fun options here.

Eighth Hole

This next hole has got a slightly cozier vibe as it’s tucked under the shade of the trees at Augusta. This hole is probably trickier than the last. Yes, you only have one bunker to deal with, but you have a smaller, tighter green to work with too. And then, oh yeah, once again, you have to avoid the water.

It is shorter in length so it might feel a bit easier from that standpoint. I guess you can say it’s a sacrifice of sorts. “Okay, we’ll make this hole shorter, but we’ll make the green smaller” type of deal. It’s one of the holes that’ll definitely put your accuracy and touch more to the test.

Personally, the finishing hole at the Augusta National Par-3 course might be one of my favorite par-3s in the sport of golf. First off, it’s very beautiful as you tee off from an elevated tee box, looking down onto the green, and then it’s nothing but water between you and the green.

That element alone makes it fun and a dramatic way to close out this great par-3 track. And while the water has most of the attention, even more so than the sixth and eighth holes, there’s a bunker behind the green just waiting to grab your golf ball like an outfielder in baseball robbing a home run. And the length has a great balance too at 135. Just know that you might need to club down due to the elevated tee positioning but don’t club down too much or you’ll end up in the drink. One club should do it, if it’s necessary, anyway.

The model also predicted Jon Rahm would be victorious at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scheffler winning in 2022.

In addition, McClure's best bets included Nick Taylor (70-1) winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson, and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 11 majors entering the weekend and hit the Masters three straight years. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

One major surprise the model is calling for at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson 2024: Day, the defending champion and one of the top favorites, stumbles and barely cracks the top five. Day got off to a hot start this season when he posted three top-10 finishes in his first five tournaments, but he has struggled since then. He has finished outside the top 15 in his last five events, including a missed cut at the Texas Children's Houston Open at the end of March. 

Day ranks 183rd on the PGA Tour in approach shots from more than 200 yards, which will be a shot that he has to take throughout this tournament. He is also ranked 133rd in green in regulation percentage (63.62%) and 152nd in strokes gained: approach to green (-0.380). Day is not in strong form right now, so the model is looking elsewhere with its pick to win this tournament. 

Another surprise: Tom Hoge, a 28-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday.

In order to score well at TPC Craig Ranch, players will need to be extremely accurate with their irons and few do it better than Hoge. In fact, the 34-year-old enters this week's event ranked second in strokes gained: approach to green (1.035). He also ranks sixth in scoring average (69.13), ninth in birdie average (4.58) and 10th in putting average (1.709). The 2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson is set to get underway Thursday from TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. The title sponsor, CJ Cup is new, replacing AT&T, but this is the same tournament that was established in 1940.

Jason Day is the defending champion, and he’ll look for his first win since last year in Texas at the 7,414-yard, par-71 layout. Joining Day in the field are Dallas residents Jordan Spieth and Tom Kim, among others.

The purse at the 2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson is $9.5 million with $1.71 million going to the winner. The winner will also receive 500 FedEx Cup points.
