Had an overnight stay at the Travellers Inn, Vaikundam on the way to Valparai from Chennai. Since this place is almost on the midway mark for travel from Chennai to Kerala, it provides as an ideal stopover point. They provide 12 hour tariffs and the rooms are very well furnished with air-conditioning. They also provide breakfast at the room in the morning from the Sree Saravana Bhavan restaurent below, food of which is tasty and sufficient. Thanks.

I travel often to Kerala from Chennai and back. At times we find the time and space equation not favouring us to complete the journey on the same day and are forced to do an enroute layover. The Travellers Inn gives us the perfect location and comfort for an overnight stay. They have about 10 rooms in the property. The rooms are very comfortable and offers a value for money advantage. They offer a 12 hours stay option which reduces the day tariff to a large extent. It may be advisable to book in advance since the number of rooms are limited. The telephone numbers are +91 (4283) 259666 / 259777 / 259888. I have booked rooms over the phone and they had accepted. The complementary breakfast offered is wonderful and is served in the room. The spread for the typical south Indian breakfast is just fantastic. The property is on the National Highway, very close to the Salem Toll Gate - Just after the toll gate while approaching from Erode and before the toll gate while going from Salem. There are sign boards indicating the Hotel well in advance while coming from Salem. There is a well stocked convenience store, a Cotton World outlet and other shops in the premises. The Sree Saravana Bhavan pure vegetarian restaurant in the ground floor provides quality meals. They are open till about 10:00 PM. Large number of long distance buses stop nearby at mealtime and the restaurant tends to get full at times. Overall, it is a wonderful property.

• Sleep Quality

Located conveniently on the Salem to Coimbatore Highway its very good, neat well-maintained place to stay for the night and continue your journey. This is perfect hangout if you are driving long hours and need some good place to relax as well. Very neat wash rooms, pleasant ambiance....did i mention they have a Saravana Bhavan in the premises. Fabulous south indian food. Every time i go across i make it a point to visit this place for some filter coffee or Ghee dosa. worth it!

Had Been to Travellers inn in Sept 2014. Excellent place for a night halt on my way to Hyderabad. Since its a highway Hotel tariffs are there for both 12hrs and 24hrs. Rooms are good for two. Additional bed would be difficult to accomodate (my guess) More over there is a complimentary breakfast too which will start by 6:30am. Parking is excellent with space to park almost 100 cars This Hotel is situated 25Km away from salem in Salem-Coimbatore highway. So its best suited for Highway users

• Cleanliness

Travellers Inn is a welcome relief for people driving towards Coimbatore and beyond. Conveniently located on the National Highway itself, just before the Vaikuntam toll, 30km from Salem. Rooms are clean and a decent lobby. For people carrying heavy luggage, there are no elevators(lifts) for the hotel situated on first floor. there is covered parking and security to man your cars while you rest after a long drive. They also offer a discounted 12hr package for roadsters like me and take telephonic reservations. Ground floor is a mini-mall with shops selling curios and a good vegetarian restaurant that is open from 6:30AM till 10:00PM

Some basic advice for travelers:

Don't be afraid to book a hotel that’s not in the city center, even if it’s a little further out. But make sure there’s a metro station nearby. Even from the most distant metro stations it takes no longer than 30 minutes to reach the city center, and close to many of these stations you can find a nice park, be it Izmailovsky or the Soviet-era VDNKh, or perhaps an exceptional historical site or museum. • Hotel  Astrus  – $60-150* (next to Yugo-Zapadnaya metro station, red Line 1)
• Hotel complex in Izmailovo:  Alfa ,  Beta ,  Gamma ,  Vega ,  Delta  – from $40 to $400 (five big hotels of various quality next to the huge Izmailovsky Park and Partizanskaya metro station on blue Line 3 and Moscow Center Railroad)
• Holiday Inn Sokolniki  (metro station Sokolniki, red Line 1, next to the beautiful park) – $60-200
• Hotel  Cosmos  (next to VDNKh metro station on orange Line 6 and VDNKh, with space museum and oceanarium inside) – $50-220

If your personal assistant hasn’t booked a good hotel, or if you don’t have a personal assistant yet, then it’s better to stay close to your office or conference hall, or a rail station with Aeroexpress trains to airports.

• Ibis  Kievskaya  situated on blue Line 3 is fine if you need the Moscow City business hub or Crocus City. If you need Vnukovo Airport, then the nearby Kievskaya rail station is right there with a fast train to the airport – $50
• Nearby is  Radisson Slavyanskaya  Hotel by Kievskaya metro and rail station, $100-300
• Novotel Moscow  is right in the Moscow City business center, from $80
• Hotel Crocus Star  15-minute walk to Myakinino metro station, Crocus City Hall and Crocus Expo. Nearby is the indoor ski and snowboard venue, Snezh.com, $70

If you want to party hard :

Patriarshiye Ponds

Moscow has great nightlife, and clubs open 24/7 can be found almost everywhere. But these places have a large concentration of restaurants and bars: Pyatnitskaya Street, Patriarshiye Ponds, Tverskaya Streets and the former Red October factory zone. The best option will be to choose something nearby to save money on taxis (the Moscow metro works from 5:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.).

If you’ve come to Moscow for the first time, the most important things to see can be found in a maximum range of 20 minutes walk from each other. There are two options. The first is the area near the Kremlin, State Historical Museum, Pushkin Museum for Fine Arts and Multimedia Art Museum. In that case, the following hotels will suit you:

• The National  – just 5 minutes walk from Kremlin. If you can’t afford staying here, have breakfast at the Dr Zhivago restaurant; from $270
• In Time Hotel  next to Kremlin and Biblioteka Imeni Lenina metro station; $70-100

Option No. 2: if you prefer the Garage Museum in Gorky Park, the State Tretyakov Gallery and New Tretyakov Gallery, then:

• President  Hotel, $90-200
• Medea hotel  Novokuznetskaya metro station, $90-160

A riverside room please :

The Moskva River might be not as famous as St. Petersburg’s Neva, but its banks are no less picturesque.

• Swisshotel   Krasnye Kholmy  is not far from Paveletskaya metro station and the House of Music concert hall, from $190
• Riverside Hotel  (from $120) shares with  Radisson Royal  (from $270) in a Stalin-era skyscraper and former Ukraine hotel building. Nearby is a pier for Moskva River boat tours.
• Moscow Point Red October  on the former factory site and full of night clubs , $90-170
• Ivan Chai - hotel and coffee  is not far from Kolomensky Park and metro station, $40-60

If you’re a badass luxury traveler :

A Kremlin-view room in Baltschug Kempinski

These hotels don’t need special introduction; they have history and offer services at the highest level. But they’re not affordable for everyone. Foreign celebrities, presidents and sheikhs often stay here.

• Four Seasons Hotel  Moscow – from $500; built anew based on the Stalin era plans; this is probably Moscow’s most expensive luxury hotel and the closest to the Kremlin.
• The Ritz-Carlton , from $560, with Novikov restaurant on the first floor.
• Ararat Park Hyatt , the rooftop bar has a fantastic view, from $400
• Hotel Baltschug Kempinski  Moscow
• St. Regis Moscow Nikolskaya , from $300
• Metropol , from $200; the mosaics by Mikhail Vrubel on the façade can be enjoyed for free

Bang on the highway an ideal place for a stop over if you are traveling on NH47 and dont want to drive overnight or too long. A double bed ac is around 1400 INR inclusive of all taxes for a 12 hour period and marginally more for 24 hours. But I doubt someone would stay for that long on the way. Pros 1) Value for money 2) Right on the highway and one need not go inside the cities or town. Great time saver 3) Excellent south Indian vegetarian complimentary breakfast 4) They don't charge room rent for kids below 10, even for an extra bed Cons 1) Understaffed and generally they do not even pick up calls and no online booking 2) A bit noisy as the hotel kitchen is right below and is busy always 3) There is no life to the first floor. Carrying too heavy luggage may be painful

Had an overnight stay at the Travellers Inn, Vaikundam on the way to Valparai from Chennai. Since this place is almost on the midway mark for travel from Chennai to Kerala, it provides as an ideal stopover point. They provide 12 hour tariffs and the rooms are very well furnished with air-conditioning. They also provide breakfast at the room in the morning from the Sree Saravana Bhavan restaurent below, food of which is tasty and sufficient. Thanks.

I travel often to Kerala from Chennai and back. At times we find the time and space equation not favouring us to complete the journey on the same day and are forced to do an enroute layover. The Travellers Inn gives us the perfect location and comfort for an overnight stay. They have about 10 rooms in the property. The rooms are very comfortable and offers a value for money advantage. They offer a 12 hours stay option which reduces the day tariff to a large extent. It may be advisable to book in advance since the number of rooms are limited. The telephone numbers are +91 (4283) 259666 / 259777 / 259888. I have booked rooms over the phone and they had accepted. The complementary breakfast offered is wonderful and is served in the room. The spread for the typical south Indian breakfast is just fantastic. The property is on the National Highway, very close to the Salem Toll Gate - Just after the toll gate while approaching from Erode and before the toll gate while going from Salem. There are sign boards indicating the Hotel well in advance while coming from Salem. There is a well stocked convenience store, a Cotton World outlet and other shops in the premises. The Sree Saravana Bhavan pure vegetarian restaurant in the ground floor provides quality meals. They are open till about 10:00 PM. Large number of long distance buses stop nearby at mealtime and the restaurant tends to get full at times. Overall, it is a wonderful property.

Located conveniently on the Salem to Coimbatore Highway its very good, neat well-maintained place to stay for the night and continue your journey. This is perfect hangout if you are driving long hours and need some good place to relax as well. Very neat wash rooms, pleasant ambiance....did i mention they have a Saravana Bhavan in the premises. Fabulous south indian food. Every time i go across i make it a point to visit this place for some filter coffee or Ghee dosa. worth it!

Had Been to Travellers inn in Sept 2014. Excellent place for a night halt on my way to Hyderabad. Since its a highway Hotel tariffs are there for both 12hrs and 24hrs. Rooms are good for two. Additional bed would be difficult to accomodate (my guess) More over there is a complimentary breakfast too which will start by 6:30am. Parking is excellent with space to park almost 100 cars This Hotel is situated 25Km away from salem in Salem-Coimbatore highway. So its best suited for Highway users
