I attended the Sabrina Carpenter concert in Cologne, Germany (21st May 2017). I bought the VIP package with meet and greet.

I came for one and a half hour earlier to the venue and there was already a long line. It was really amazing to talk with the other fans. We also sang Sabrina songs together to make the waiting more fun. All in all the waiting itself was a good experience :-)

We had to build a line for the meet and greet . Sabrina is the most beautiful, humble and talented person I know. She was really sweet and it was great to talk to her. We made some selfies and a professional photo, which I could download a couple days after the concert.

One of the best experiences was to hear her acoustic performance of 3 songs. It was in separate area. She has such a powerful voice - it was incredible. She interacted with the audience and she was also very impressed how good we knew the lyrics of her songs and how loud we sang together with her.

After that I somehow managed to get right in front of the stage. After all VIPs had find their spot people with "normal" concert tickets were allowed to come in. The show started with a supporting act. He sang for about half an hour.

Sabrina sang for about one and a half hour. I love how she interacted with the crowd and how she made us feel to be part of the concert. She also tried to talk to us in German :-). It was the best concert I ever attended. I really hope she comes back soon. If you have the opportunity to see Sabrina live - just do it, you won't regret.

The only negative thing was that some parents stand right in front of the stage too so that people especially small children had really problems to see anything. I didn't have these problems (because I was front row) but I know some had really problems to see the performance. Maybe this can be organized better for futur concerts. Other parents just enjoyed the concert in back. I think the parents in the front row should have done this too.

The show was top notch. Sabrina is a phenomenal talent and she truly loves what she's doing. The crowd sang every song with her. The only issue had nothing to do with her but with some of the adults there. They basically refused to allow some of her young fans to be able to stand close to their idol and enjoy the show properly. Several young girls were forced from the front by these adults to the back in tears. This is not only extremely sad but completely uncalled for. These adults (like myself) were there to enjoy the show (yes Sabrina has fans of all ages, young and old alike, deal with it). There's nothing wrong with wanting to enjoy the show. There is, however, everything wrong with treating her young fans like crap and acting like a bunch of entitled, spoiled brats! To those so-called adults (and you know who you are) GROW UP!!!! Fortunately, I was able to help out a couple of the girls with finding a fairly decent viewing point so they could enjoy the show anyhow. Sabrina is a class act on every level. Those adults could learn a thing or two from her. Well done Sabrina. Congratulations on your first tour and all your success. You've earned and deserve every single bit of it. For me it was money well spent.

The concert itself was fantastic.

New Hope and Alex Aiono were very good and Sabrina is a solid entertainer for such a young individual.

Her shows are always packed with energy and her outfits are great.

The wait before was horrendous!!

The venue was not only chaotic, no one knew what was happening.

VIPS for Sabrina were in Alex Aiono's line and vice versa, and regular ticket holders were told to stand behind the VIPs.

I was upset about this as well, because I never received any notification that meet and greets were available. I purchased tickets almost immediately after they went on sale, and the meet/greets were not even offered!

Anyhow, after being pushed around to 3 different lines (from 3:30PM to 6:30PM), being that no one knew exactly where the lines were, the show was late.

Standing in the 90 degree humid weather, near the tour buses that were emitting more heat and exhaust, it was pretty unbearable.

Doors were supposed to open at 6 for seating, but that was delayed by at least a half hour with the simple explanation of Sabrina was being especially "chatty" with the VIPs and she created the delay.

The delay and wait prior to the concert was uncomfortable and not necessary.

Omg it was the most amazing concert I've ever been to!! I totally would recommend a Sabrina Carpenter concert for people of all ages and even for people who don't know her! My mom drove me to Darien lake and almost fainted just so I can see her in concert! I love Sabrina so much she's my idol and I look up to her a lot!! My favorite part of her concert was that she involves the crowd into her concert and in parts of her songs. She interacts with the crowd and just has a great time up on stage dancing and moving around, she looks so natural up on stage and that's only one thing that she's great at and one reason why I love her!! The crowd goes crazy for her and they love her and she's loves all of her fans back! I wish I got a vip meet and greet pass to meet my idol and make my dream come true but I got the preferred seating and I had the best time of my life. Just being there made me feel so happy and to eventually watch her grow and mature in her voice is something that I'm really excited for on top of her many albums to come! I'm will definitely go and see her again!! LOVE YOU SABRINA!!

The concert was absolutely stunning and amazing! She kept us engaged during the concert by letting us sing certain parts of the songs and got us hyped up when she asked us to get off our seats to jump with the music!! Sabrina even made us work out with her by shaking our limbs progressively faster in the middle of the concert. Most importantly, her vocals were absolutely melodic and exactly like what I heard on YouTube, just simply raw talent!

The audience was also very good as no one was really pushing one another to get to the front etc. and everyone was just singing and cheering along to your lovely music!

Once again, thank you for coming to Singapore to perform and I really appreciate it! I hope that you can fulfil your promise of coming here again, especially when you release Singular Act 2!

p.s. Please release it soon, I'm dying to hear the rest of the album ever since you released Pushing 20 and unofficially Exhale.

I loved the concert last night! It was my first real concert and I loved it! Sabrina Carpenter is my favorite artist/singer and when I found out that she was coming to town I immediately asked my parents to go. I loved to choice of songs and the videos that played in the background; my dad especially loved the coordination of the videos. However, I wish some more songs from the "Eyes Wide Open" album, but still loved the songs. The two outfits were fabulous and awesome! I loved the lighting, too. I have listened to Sabrina Carpenter's music since "Can't Blame a Girl for Trying" came out. I watched Disney channel mainly because "Girl Meets World" was on the channel. My favorite song of Sabrina Carpenter is "Eyes Wide Open," it has always been my favorite song ever and always will be. I know every lyric to almost all of her songs and I love her music. It was a great experience to watch her and her band in concert.

This was one of the best shows I’ve attended. Maggie Lindemann, the opening act, sounded very good and got me hyped for the show. Sabrina came out with amazing energy, dancing and singing her heart out the entire show. She sounded phenomenal, and I was extremely excited. The highlight of the night was when I held up my sign and Sabrina read it out loud before Prfct, which is awesome especially because the sign read “Sabrina, ur Prfct to me, we love you”. That meant so much to me that she read it. Overall, this show was infinity stars/5 and I can’t wait for her to come back.

The venue was GREAT! Very personable and enough space to where we didn't feel over crowded!

My daughter Abby had the time of her life! Sabrina mentioned her poster since this was her bday present! She has been BEAMING ever since last night! The band that opened was great too! Interacting with their fans with pictures! Abby will also remember that forever! She said citizen four will be bigger than One Directon! Love the enthusiasm of a soon to be 14 year old! Haha

Thank you for asking for a review!

Sabrina's concert was so amazing! I was right next to the stage and it wasn't too loud. The sound, lights, FX, and the entire experience was amazing. She made sure that her fans knew she cared and appreciated us. Sabrina has amazing stage present and is so humble and kind in person. It was a huge relief knowing that it was live. Sabrina is truly a gifted individual and I will be attending another one of her concerts in the future.

You probably know her from her role as Maya Hart in the 'Boy Meets World' spin-off 'Girl Meets World', but the 23-year-old pop star also released her latest record last year! Of course, we're talking about the multi-talented Sabrina Carpenter. Her first single 'Can't Blame A Girl For Trying' immediately reached the top 100 on Billboard, after which it wasn't long before her debut album 'Eyes Wide Open' was released. Her latest album 'emails i can't send' is another poppy gem, and she says it is an intimate insight into her deepest feelings and thoughts.

Sabrina carpenter concert

Vorig jaar bracht Sabrina haar vijfde studio-album Emails I Can’t Send uit. Ze is niet alleen zangeres, maar maakt ook carrière als actrice. Ze speelde onder meer lange tijd in de Disney-serie Girl Meets World , waarmee ze bekend werd bij het grote publiek.

Sabrina Carpenter Teases ‘New Songs’ as She Announces 2023 Tour

By Tomás Mier

Sabrina Carpenter is just circling back, following up, and checking in! On Monday, the singer surprised fans by announcing a second North American leg to her successful Emails I Can’t Send tour.

“i said i was done but i was just confused,” Carpenter wrote on Instagram, quoting a lyric in her song “Already Over” and referring to her brief tour earlier this year. “So excited to announce the second leg of the emails i can’t send tour in North America.”

Carpenter will begin her tour in Fort Lauderdale on Mar. 16 before making her way through Texas and stopping at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles on Apr. 20. She’ll then head to the east coast stopping at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on May 2 and New York City’s Terminal 5 on May 11.

“I can’t wait to see your faces and maybe even sing some new songs!” she wrote.

This fall, Carpenter stopped in 14 major cities, including Los Angeles’ the Wiltern and New York City’s Webster Hall. Throughout the tour, she went viral for changing the outro to her song “Nonsense” each night.

Here Is Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘The Eras Tour’ Setlist

Lexi Lane

Sabrina Carpenter is currently continuing to open for Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour , as she is joining her for the Australian leg of shows in Melbourne and Sydney. Carpenter took the stage at the first one of Melbourne Cricket Grounds last night to treat fans to a selection of her best songs.

Most of Carpenter’s setlist was from her most recent record, including the “Because I Liked A Boy” and “ Feather ” singles. She also opened her set by teasing the fans in the crowd with Swift’s “Picture To Burn” (one of Carpenter’s pre-show staple picks that soundtracks her childhood footage) and Blondie’s “Atomic.”

As another surprise in Carpenter’s opening act performance, she also covered “Hopelessly Devoted To You.” When Carpenter was opening for Swift’s South American leg , she had used ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” as her nightly cover instead. With night two of Melbourne happening tonight, time will tell if she keeps the Grease song in her setlist — or swap it out for something else entirely different.

Finally, Carpenter closed out her set with “Nonsense,” where she once again changed the outro and kept the running tradition going strong.

Check out Sabrina Carpenter’s setlist from Melbourne night one below, according to Setlist.FM .

‘People can tell that she’s genuinely a cool person’ …Sabrina Carpenter performing at Coachella in April.

Sabrina Carpenter: how the Espresso singer became a piping hot pop prospect

She’s set to depose Taylor Swift from No 1 and has the most-streamed song in the world this week – the culmination of a decade of slow-burn success

C apped with one of the most brilliantly nonsensical chorus lines in pop history – “That’s that me, espresso” – Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso is the most streamed song in the world this week, deposed Taylor Swift as the UK’s No 1 single yesterday and is shaping up to be the critics’ pick for the song you won’t be able to escape this summer.

Since its release in mid-April, this irresistible shot of nu-disco has been steadily climbing the charts to become one of the only tracks holding its own against the tidal wave of songs from Taylor Swift’s double-disc The Tortured Poets Department. Carpenter was recently released from Swift’s Eras tour juggernaut, having supported the superstar on her dates in Latin America, Australia and Singapore. Anointed by Swift as a “sweet angel princess”, she is now rising through the ranks to become pop royalty in her own right.

Espresso has jolted the airwaves awake, with casual listeners, pop obsessives and even the hard-to-please music press in agreement about its addictiveness. “Pop’s disco revival is wearing a bit thin, but if you can do it with this much elan … maybe it can last just one more summer,” wrote Pitchfork’s Jeremy D Larson.

Less brittle than Dua Lipa’s New Rules, more stylish than Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe, Espresso nevertheless ranks among them as a pop song you can’t play just once. The perfectly weighted lyrics are charismatically spiky – “I can’t relate to desperation / My give-a-fucks are on vacation” runs the opening couplet – and Carpenter’s matter-of-fact explanation that she’s “working late, ’cause I’m a singer” has become an instant meme.

According to Nate Sloan and Charlie Harding, co-hosts of the podcast Switched on Pop, the song succeeds because of its off-kilter phrasing, holding even TikTok’s famously jittery attention. “Espresso plays with language in a way that takes your brain a moment to process,” they say. “‘Walked in and dream-came-true’d it for ya’ – that’s not proper English … it keeps listeners on their toes.”

Musically, Espresso evokes vintage funk and disco but with digital production sheen, and Carpenter told Vogue that she also wanted to blend of old and new in the stylish sun-kissed video, directed by Dave Meyers. Shot in black-and-white and 60s-ish tones, it shows Carpenter beachside in retro fashions and flanked by surfboard-toting stallions.

Espresso is now set to be the star-making hit of Carpenter’s career – which is already a decade long, though she only turns 25 next week. The youngest of four sisters home schooled in Pennsylvania (and the niece of Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson), Carpenter signed a five-album record deal when she was 12 with the Disney-owned Hollywood Records. From 2014 to 2017, she also starred in the Disney Channel comedy Girl Meets World, while steadily releasing music.

But like her generation Z pop peer Olivia Rodrigo, and Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears before them, Carpenter struggled to convey a distinct personality within Disney’s limits, and her success during that time was limited to the dance charts.

Performing with Taylor Swift on the Eras tour, in Sydney.

After opening for Ariana Grande and the Vamps on their 2017 tours, and a stint as the lead in Mean Girls on Broadway (cut short by the pandemic), Carpenter signed with Universal Music Group’s Island Records in 2021. Since then, she has been a growing presence in pop – helped by the gossip-column inches devoted to her rumoured love-triangle with Rodrigo and Disney co-star Joshua Bassett.

Carpenter is widely speculated to be the older “blond girl” whom Rodrigo admits to being “insecure about” in her 2021 mega-smash Driver’s License. Neither party has ever confirmed the reference, though Carpenter’s emotional 2021 single Skin was taken as confirmation, with its lyrics: “Maybe you didn’t mean it / Maybe blond was the only rhyme … Don’t drive yourself insane.”

Since late last year, Carpenter has been dating Saltburn actor Barry Keoghan, who was seen at her Coachella show last month and is namechecked in a freestyled outro to the song Nonsense. Evoking her mentor Swift’s work-ethic and attention to detail, Carpenter has become known for tailoring Nonsense at every performance – leading the BBC to pull her Radio 1 Live Lounge performance of it from YouTube, over an ad-libbed sexual reference.

after newsletter promotion

She generated further controversy with her video for Feather, filmed in a Catholic church in Brooklyn. A priest was removed from administrative duties for agreeing to the shoot, to which Carpenter responded: “Jesus was a carpenter.”

With Barry Keoghan at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscars party.

Since her confessional 2022 album Emails I Can’t Send, however, Carpenter has been best known for her music, with Skin, Feather and Nonsense all registering in the US and UK charts. On stage, she is intimate yet boisterous, shaking up her between-song banter at every show, soliciting stories from the audience and dispensing dating advice. “She’s got such a good balance of performance and just being herself,” says Los Angeles-based singer Annika Bennett, who supported Carpenter on her UK and European tours last year. “Every night feels special, but equally as big of a show.”

Carpenter’s playful public presence also extends behind the scenes, adds Bennett. “She’s just so kind and such a fun person to be around. I think that translates: people can tell that she’s genuinely a cool person.”

Having first approached Bennett about joining her on tour via Instagram DMs, Carpenter then visited her in her dressing room “every single night”, says Bennett. “That’s never a guarantee from the headliner,” adds the singer, who is weeks away from her own tour of UK and Europe. “As a headliner, you have your own show and you’re under the most pressure – but Sabrina totally extended friendship.”

Now, after wrapping the months-long “Taybrina” run of the Eras tour in late March, Carpenter is secure in Swift’s squad, pledging fealty on Instagram: “There is truly no one like you and there never will be”. Despite Espresso beating Swift’s Fortnight this week, however, there’s room for two at the top. And amid the ubiquity of The Tortured Poets Department – a wordy, ruminative album about the mixed (but mostly bad) blessings of superstardom – the energising Espresso is going down especially easily.

Sabrina Carpenter on the Radical Honesty of Her New Album, Emails I Can’t Send

By Liam Hess

On the cover of Sabrina Carpenter ’s new album, Emails I Can’t Send, the musician and actor sits on her bed in a simple black dress next to a laptop, turning toward the camera as though interrupted. If that seems a very literal interpretation of the title, it’s fully intentional—many of the lyrics for the 13 songs that make up the record actually began with emails that Carpenter would write during the pandemic as a kind of therapy, making the album by far her most intimate yet. “I wanted everything to feel a lot more simple and timeless,” says Carpenter of the direction for the record, citing her childhood inspirations—from Dolly Parton to Carole King to Carly Simon —as key influences.

While Emails I Can’t Send is, somewhat remarkably, her fifth album—the first four, which leaned more pop, were all released via Disney’s Hollywood Records, while Emails is her first outing since moving to Island Records early last year—there’s something about it that feels like a new beginning for the musician. As was the case for so many, the pandemic forced a stark reevaluation of what mattered to Carpenter—and when it came to music, that meant tapping into a frankness and candor (mostly the product of writing songs at home alone), as well as a greater sense of autonomy as she shaped the sound and aesthetic of the record.

“One thing that experience did do was that it stripped back a lot of layers of tolerating anything that’s less than real, because I didn’t really have the energy to tolerate anything that was less than genuine and authentic at that time,” she says. (Another factor in Carpenter’s willingness to let down her guard may have been the tabloid maelstrom that followed the release of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License,” the lyrics of which some interpreted as a response to her ex, fellow Disney actor Joshua Bassett, embarking on a new relationship with Carpenter.)

Where Emails I Can’t Send departs from Carpenter’s heroes from decades past, however, is in its sprinkling of very Gen Z references (from unread texts to lying to your therapist to anonymous online death threats), among more timeless, heart-on-your-sleeve elegies to lost love. It feels like the most fully realized vision of Carpenter the musician—and the most rounded portrait of Carpenter the human being—yet. “I would hope that if someone had never listened to my music before, and they listened to this album, they would leave it feeling like they know me better as a person,” she says.

Here, Carpenter tells Vogue about the unusual writing process for the album, balancing heartbreak with humor, and why she can’t wait to get back on the road and perform live.

Vogue: When did you start writing the record? Was there a clean break between the songwriting for Singular [Carpenter’s previous album] and Emails I Can’t Send?

Sabrina Carpenter: I was doing a run on Broadway [in Mean Girls ] right before the pandemic, and once the shutdown happened, I sort of went into this mode of... I mean, everybody has their way of coping. Some people were like, I’m not going to do anything for however long, and I’m just going to take this time off for myself and recuperate. But for me, I was like, I’m going to start this process [of writing a new album]. I knew that it would take a long time, because I really wanted to take my time with this project in particular. I signed with a new label in the middle of the pandemic, and I think there’s so much that changes between the ages of 18 to 21, so I knew that this project would be very different. But the process kind of started there. It incorporated a lot of living life as well as it did actually working on the music—I was really writing through everything that I was experiencing.

You’ve said that in some of your previous records, there were aspects of yourself you covered up with confidence, and this record is a lot more confessional. Was there any specific turning point for you where you thought, hey, I’m going to be a bit more candid this time around?

I think I’ve always been someone that likes to change things up, and no project I’ve ever made has been the same as the one before it. But honestly, I feel like the reason I couldn’t write some of those more vulnerable, some of those more insecure, some of those more forward songs before is because I just hadn’t felt those emotions. I think when you’re younger, it’s very easy to see the world and think that you can take it on—you have all the confidence required to do that. And then once you start to get humbled by the world, it’s very easy to be like, oh, never mind, backtrack, backtrack. And that’s where these feelings started to creep in. I was worried for a second that it wasn’t the fully confident pop record that fans who have been following me for a long time might be coming to my music for. I didn’t know what to expect, to be honest, but if anything, I realized that there’s far more strength in vulnerability and insecurities, because they are the emotions that I think we’re all kind of scared to face—even if that doesn’t make them any less real.

How literal was the title? Did any of the lyrics actually originate as emails you couldn’t send?

Yeah, totally. I think the hardest thing for me has always been naming the album. I don’t know why, but I think it's just the fact that you have so many stories in one place, and you're expected to slap one word on it. That’s a lot of pressure. When I wrote the actual title track, I was [using] one of the emails that I had written to myself, and I just said out loud: “That’s the name of the album!” Then every song kind of came from that place. Every song came from those emails or messages or whatever my way of coping was at the time. I think it captures a really important time in my life.

How do you decide which aspects of your personal life to include and which to leave out, especially given the intense scrutiny about your lyrics online?

It’s funny, because I look back on songs that I wrote when I was 16 and 17. The first time I ever got sued, I wrote a song called “Sue Me.” Taking personal situations in my life and being able to turn them into art was always a way of healing myself, and also understanding those situations a bit better. And so nothing changed in that sense. I’ve always been writing from that very real place. But I’m also not naïve, and even the songs that are literally about nothing at all, I’m sure people would be able to take all kinds of things from them and run with it, because I think that’s just what people do, they love the dramatics and the theatrics of it all. But personally, I don’t ever write from a place of thinking about people hearing this, and thinking about what they might assume. Otherwise, I don’t think the songs would feel honest. I think that the whole thing behind this album was really to do with me writing those emails. I was never writing emails to myself and thinking about actually sending them, or thinking about what other people would think about them, because I really was just doing it for myself, and it was a way to cope. So I kind of tried to stick with that through the album and just write songs thinking, I can say whatever I want, because no one’s ever gonna hear this . And then, yeah, I’ll just have to throw my phone in the ocean when the album comes out. [ Laughs .]

It feels like you really get a fuller picture of your personality on the record, including your sense of humor.

I do think that a lot of the time, as a person, I deflect with humor, so it was only natural that a lot of the things that I was writing about—even some of the most painful moments of my life—were just so stupid, honestly, that it made me laugh. I was able to take these situations that really hurt me and use humor to cope with them. Someone that listened to the album said, “It’s almost like your music is a romantic comedy.” It felt like a weird way to describe it at first, but I guess it makes a lot of sense. I think as a songwriter I do romanticize, but at the same time, those moments of innocence and humor are the moments that I find really special. Most of the time I think, Nobody will find this funny, I’m just doing it for myself . But I think that’s all part of making something that feels a little bit closer to me.

Image may contain Couch Furniture Human Person Heel and Sabrina Carpenter

Now that the album has come out, how has it been, seeing your fans respond to it?

I feel like the only word that could describe it would be surreal , and just such a weight off of my shoulders. I think for this project, in particular, I had so much anxiety before releasing it. I just really didn’t know how it would be received—which is so funny, because the whole concept behind the album is these things that I never really want anyone to hear, and things that I never intended on saying to people. Having that time of my life sort held in these songs forever is as scary as it is really special. But I think the cool thing that happens when you release music, and it’s no longer yours, is that you start to see the way that people connect it to their lives, and you realize that something that you thought was such a specific memory or feeling is actually so universal, and that makes you feel a lot less lonely. It’s been so, so lovely hearing people say that to me.

Have you started thinking about how you want to bring the album to life in a live setting?

Performing live has always been the root of my love for music and a huge part of my life, but I haven’t toured for years, which is really crazy to think about. I think with this album being so special to me, it’s going to be possibly the most fun show I’ve ever been able to put on. I got to do one performance the other day for the first time, it was the day after the album came out and they knew every single word. I was so taken aback. I was just like, how ? That music can connect with people like that, it’s so magical, and I hope that the tour will be kind of the same experience. I’m very excited.

Sabrina Carpenter’s Emails I Can’t Send is out now from Island Records.

How Sabrina Carpenter's style has evolved, from her Disney star days to stealing the spotlight at Coachella

  • Sabrina Carpenter's style has evolved since she rose to fame as a Disney star.
  • Her red carpet and concert fashion has become more daring through the years.
  • Carpenter perfected the sheer trend on and off the stage and is now synonymous with minidresses.

Insider Today

If anyone is in the running for the crown of pop music's princess, it's Sabrina Carpenter .

In the past year, the 24-year-old opened for Taylor Swift on the Eras Tour , took the stage at Coachella , made headlines for dating "Saltburn" star Barry Keoghan , and recently released "Espresso," which is on track to become this summer's biggest hit.

But Carpenter is no stranger to the spotlight. Her singing and acting career spans over a decade and includes appearances on Disney Channel TV shows and movies, including "Girl Meets World" and "Adventures in Babysitting."

From child star to pop princess, Carpenter has honed her style just as she has her career. She's become synonymous with playful minidresses onstage and daring sheer looks on the red carpet.

Here's a look at Carpenter's fashion evolution .

During one of her early red-carpet appearances for Nickelodeon in 2014, Carpenter experimented with edgy footwear and darker tones.

She wore a black playsuit cinched at the waist with a silver belt. Carpenter coordinated with a bold silver necklace, keeping her hair in loose, natural curls.

Being around 5 feet tall, Carpenter is known for wearing platform footwear. This early red-carpet appearance, where she wore a pair of black-and-gold laced platform heels with bedazzled stockings, was no different.

She attended her first Emmys in a gothic Gemy Maalouf gown.

The gown featured silver embroidery and a semi-sheer skirt. Carpenter paired it with black strappy heels and a gray marbled clutch.

In 2017, Carpenter was spotted rocking daring fashion in the front row at notable runway shows.

For example, at Coach's NYFW show that year, she wore a sheer skirt with a pink button-up, which she layered under a red biker jacket decorated with poppies and black-and-white lace trim. She completed the look with black stilettos.

That year, she also started experimenting with more daring looks while performing.

In July 2017, she took to the stage in LA wearing a sheer lace dress over black zip-up shorts. Carpenter coordinated her all-black look with chunky black boot heels with gold sequins.

For her first VMAs appearance in 2018, the "Espresso" singer wore an asymmetrical Versace gown, complete with a high collar and slit.

She paired the bandage-style dress with nude pointed-toe heels, white nail polish, and minimal jewelry. She styled her hair in a loose bun.

Carpenter put her signature playful spin on the power suit at the 2019 premiere of "Tall Girl."

She ditched a shirt and accessorized her 1970s-inspired silver look with a dramatic pink dew-drop earring.

The pop princess went all in on the "naked" dress trend at the 2020 MTV Movie and TV Awards.

Her sparkly see-through gown, designed by Ralph and Russo, had one long sleeve. She wore it with black lingerie and platform heels.

Carpenter mastered edginess when she arrived at the 2021 Savage X Fenty Show premiere wearing a white T-shirt as a dress.

The minidress was cinched at the waist with a black studded belt. She leaned into the show's sultry aesthetic with wet hair and red lipstick.

She nailed the 2022 Met Gala's "Gilded Glamour" dress code in a gold ensemble designed by Julien Dossena at Paco Rabanne.

The heavy sequin-and-rhinestone ensemble consisted of a flowing high-waisted skirt and a coordinating bralette. She completed the look with Jimmy Choo heels.

Carpenter described the event as her "Super Bowl" to Vogue and praised her outfit for being "shockingly comfortable," adding to her confidence.

Later that year, Carpenter walked the American Music Awards red carpet in a silver fringed Oscar de la Renta two-piece.

The outfit consisted of a fringed crop top and miniskirt. She accessorized with coordinating silver jewelry and heels.

She partnered with Paco Rabanne again for her daring 2023 Vanity Fair Oscars after-party look.

Her dress featured a ruched white skirt and a semi-sheer top with floral accents around the chest and wrists.

In 2023, Carpenter started opening for Taylor Swift on the Eras Tour, where she fully leaned into her love for miniskirts and sparkles.

She wore one of her most memorable Eras Tour looks during a Buenos Aires show in November. Her all-white outfit was made up of a $642 Seen Users corset decorated with crystal hearts, a coordinating $450 Dominnico leather skirt, and glittery custom-made Naked Wolfe heels.

Carpenter brought an element of her daring onstage fashion to the red carpet at a pre-Grammys gala in February.

For the event, she wore a black David Koma gown with a silver rose embellishment, turtleneck, and thigh-high slit.

Carpenter was one of the most talked-about performers at Coachella, where she wore a baby-blue look with a matching moto jacket.

Carpenter looked in her element onstage at Coachella , wearing a bespoke pastel-blue Frolov minidress with lace trim and silver heart detailing. She completed her outfit with a coordinating cropped vintage leather jacket and a $480 pair of metallic Givenchy sunglasses.

A brief tour of pop music’s caffeine addiction.

Hear songs by Sabrina Carpenter, Squeeze, SZA and more.

sabrina carpenter tour nederland

By Lindsay Zoladz

Dear listeners,

A few weeks ago in our Friday feature the Playlist, I recommended a bubbly new single by the pop artist Sabrina Carpenter and made a bold prediction: “Get ready to hear this one everywhere.” Even more quickly than I imagined, the prophecy has come true. Last week, “Espresso” debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it Carpenter’s highest charting hit yet. More important, it has taken over the nation’s psyche. You can hardly go anywhere these days without hearing someone quoting the song’s infectious hook “That’s that me espresso” or wondering aloud, “what is a ‘me espresso?’”

That’s a profound philosophical question for another day. Today, we are simply honoring the absurdist joy of “Espresso” with a playlist of songs about caffeinated beverages.

Coffee has been a consistently evocative theme throughout pop musical history, so this mix travels from 1940 right up to the present moment. That trusty beverage is often used to describe a sophisticated kind of romance (as it does on Otis Redding ’s swooning ballad “Cigarettes and Coffee”) or perhaps the idle hours waiting around for said romance to occur (see Peggy Lee ’s sultry take on the 1948 standard “Black Coffee”). Chappell Roan tries to use it as a shield against romance on a track from her 2023 album “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,” reasoning with a former flame, “I’ll meet you for coffee, ’cause if we have wine/You’ll say that you want me, I know that’s a lie.”

In “Espresso,” Carpenter uses the caffeine metaphor to suggest how restless she makes a guy she has wrapped around her finger: “Say you can’t sleep? Baby, I know.” Also, crucially, she understands that “espresso” rhymes with “I guess so.” That’s poetry.

It’s time for the percolator,

Listen along while you read.

1. sabrina carpenter: “espresso”.

A breezy summer bop with a dash of bizarro humor, “Espresso” is about to be blaring from every other beachside boombox. Carpenter’s gloriously unbothered vocal and the track’s disco-inflected sheen make the whole thing go down easy. ▶ Listen on Spotify , Apple Music or YouTube

2. Squeeze: “Black Coffee in Bed”

A memorable image — “there’s a stain on my notebook where your coffee cup was” — kicks off this smoldering, six-minute classic about trying to move on from a relationship while concrete memories linger all around. (And yes, that is Elvis Costello on backing vocals.) The British band Squeeze’s songwriter and guitarist Chris Difford revealed in a 2019 interview that an actual coffee ring inspired those opening lines: “Yeah,” he said . “I still have the notepad in my office.”

▶ Listen on Spotify , Apple Music or YouTube

3. Peggy Lee: “Black Coffee”

The great Peggy Lee kicks off her 1956 debut album with an elegant reading of this song, written by Sonny Burke and Paul Francis Weber and first made famous by Sarah Vaughan. That titular brew helps her stay awake as she waits up for an absent lover: “I walk the floor and watch the door/And in between I drink/Black coffee.”

4. SZA: “Percolator”

This brief but effervescent track from the deluxe edition of SZA’s 2017 debut album, “Ctrl,” chronicles the singer’s insecurities and doubts before declaring, “I wanna be a percolator.” I’m just going to pretend she’s talking about the coffee kind.

5. The Ink Spots: “Java Jive”

This 1940 single from the pioneering vocal group the Ink Spots is a fun and slangy ode to a hot cup of Joe. “Slip me a slug from the wonderful mug,” singer Deek Watson croons, “and I’ll cut a rug till I’m snug in a jug.” And you thought “that’s that me espresso” was silly!

6. Otis Redding: “Cigarettes and Coffee”

Companionship and good conversation make an ordinary moment glow — “just talking over cigarettes and coffee” — in this warm, crackling ballad from Otis Redding’s “The Soul Album.” “I don’t want no cream and sugar,” he sings, “’cause I’ve got you now, darling.”

7. Chappell Roan: “Coffee”

This playlist began with one rising pop girlie, and it concludes with another: the suddenly ubiquitous Chappell Roan. Over a sparse but theatrical piano arrangement, Roan figures meeting an ex “only for coffee” is a better bet than meeting for dinner or drinks: “Nowhere else is safe, every place leads back to your place.” By the end, though, she’s not even sure a quick, caffeinated date is innocuous enough: “’Cause if we did coffee, it’s never just coffee.” Don’t even ask her about espresso.

“Saturday Night Live” has set Maya Rudolph to host its May 11 episode alongside Vampire Weekend as musical guest, while the May 18 episode will by headlined by Jake Gyllenhaal with performances from Sabrina Carpenter .

Rudolph was an “ SNL ” cast member for seven seasons from 2000 to 2007 and returns to the late-night sketch show for her third time as host, having previously hosted in 2012 with musical guest Sleigh Bells and in 2021 alongside Jack Harlow. Currently, she stars in and executive produces the Apple TV+ comedy “Loot.” Besides “SNL,” her prominent credits include “Bridesmaids,” “Sisters,” “The Good Place” and “Big Mouth.”

Sabrina's Carpenter's $4.4 million LA home is the perfect romantic hideaway with Barry Keoghan

The 'espresso' singer is currently on tour with taylor swift.

It's Sabrina Carpenter 's world, we're just living in it. Not only is the blonde Disney alum currently touring with Taylor Swift on the Eras tour, but her nu-disco hit 'Espresso' has just de-throned the Grammy Award-winning artist from top spot in the charts.

Sabrina, 24, has become the It-girl everybody can't stop talking about, with her baby blonde bangs, platform boots and elusive relationship with Saltburn actor Barry Keoghan sending the Internet into overdrive.

When she's not touring the world, Sabrina lives in Los Angeles. The former Girl Meets World star previously opened the doors of her sprawling family home to Vogue , who filmed the star's "perfect night in".

From a games room kitted out with a pool table, to a fully stocked bar set for entertaining guests and family, Sabrina's family home is the perfect place to host. The Nonsense singer's bedroom was a candy pink haven, decorated with Parisian-inspired stripe wallpaper and a pink velvet headboard.

"This is my sanctuary, my safe place," said the actress as she swung on a rope swing hanging from the ceiling.

"It's actually very peaceful and very comforting," she said of the swing. "I kind of put it up everytime I move into a new house because it makes it automatically feel a little bit more like home."

In December 2023, it was reported the actress turned pop star had purchased a 3,500-square-foot Hollywood home for about $4.4 million. It's believed the sprawling mansion is the first in Sabrina's real estate portfolio - and is the perfect base to spend time with her Hollywood beau, Barry, as they flit between award ceremonies and premieres.

According to Robb Report , the property has been renovated with a Mediterranean influence injecting chic European style into the home, including oak floors and vaulted oak ceilings, plus bespoke fixtures imported from Italy and vintage Spanish Revival-style lighting.

"Other highlights include arched windows with striking views of city lights, a sophisticated wet bar with seating for two, wrought iron detailing on the stair railings, four ensuite bedrooms, two sitting rooms and a decadent new kitchen with black marble countertops and custom oak cabinetry flown in from Europe," writes the publication.

Sabrina has been dating Irish actor Barry since December, who was seen at her Coachella show last month and was namechecked in a freestyled outro to the song Nonsense ; much to the delight of TikTok fans.
