And as the general on-sale for Oasis ‘ upcoming reunion tour starts, fans have a 13.1 percent chance of scoring stubs to the 2025 comeback shows, according to stats from analysis site Yardbarker.

A fter breaking up 15 years ago, iconic rock band Oasis announced on Aug. 27 that they would be reuniting for a U.K. and Ireland tour in 2025. The news that formerly feuding brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher will once again share the stage has been met with enthusiasm—but not without controversy.

The announcement of the tour resulted in an "unprecedented demand" for tickets, leading the band to add even more U.K. and Ireland dates. Still, the quest for tickets via Ticketmaster has been marred with frustration over technological issues, pricing, and touts.

Here’s a breakdown of the Oasis ticketing controversy and where things currently stand.

Issues with Ticketmaster

On Friday, Aug. 30, fans who had been selected in the pre-sale ballot waited in a queue on Ticketmaster—which dominates concert and sporting tickets around the world—ahead of the three-hour window for pre-sale purchases. On X (formerly Twitter), many fans complained about technical difficulties preventing them from accessing tickets. Some people got locked out of their Ticketmaster accounts , or were virtually queuing behind tens of thousands of people, only to be kicked out of the Ticketmaster queue or to receive an error notification once they finally reach the checkout stage of the ticket-buying process.

When the tickets went on general sale on Saturday, Aug. 31, fans complained of the same issues.

Former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson, widely known to be a long-time Oasis fan, even entered the conversation. While attending the Italian Grand Prix on Saturday afternoon, he shared that he had been in the queue for reunion tour tickets , but was unlucky and hadn’t received a (pre-sale ballot) code.

In addition to the queuing and technical problems, there’s also been backlash about the prices. Within an hour of the pre-sale, tickets appeared on re-selling sites for triple the face value.

Oasis spoke out on X about the controversy and prices, telling fans that tickets can only be re-sold at face value via certain websites. “Tickets appearing on other secondary ticketing sites are either counterfeit or will be cancelled by the promoters,” the post read.

Yet, the controversy is also connected to Ticketmaster’s own price raising, since during the sale, they upped their own prices for “in-demand” tickets. As fans finally entered the ticket-selection portion of the website, they found out that tickets that were originally £148 ($194) were being sold at £355 ($466) . Ticketmaster introduced this “ in-demand” dynamic pricing system in 2022 , which allows their prices to inflate according to the market demand.

Fans referred to the raised ticket prices as " problematic ," with some comparing Ticketmaster to touts.

"As anticipated, millions of fans accessed our site and were placed in a queue, which moved along as they bought tickets,”a Ticketmaster spokesperson told TIME in an email. “We always advise fans to hold their place in line, make sure they're only using one tab, clear cookies, and ensure they aren't using any VPN software on their device.”

They added: “To clarify, Ticketmaster does not set ticket prices.” On its website, Ticketmaster states: “Promoters and artists set ticket prices. Prices can be either fixed or market-based. Market-based tickets are labeled as ‘Platinum’ or ‘In Demand.’”

This is not the first time Ticketmaster has been at the heart of controversy over their ticket system. During the sale for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, the company came under fire after fans waited in a queue for hours during pre-sale, just for the website to glitch at the last moment, with Ticketmaster eventually canceling the general sale.

Are Oasis adding extra shows to the 2025 U.K. and Ireland tour?

Due to the difficulties and demand for tickets, many fans called for Oasis to add more tour dates to their 2025 tour in the U.K. and Ireland. The request for more dates come after Oasis already added an additional three extra shows in the U.K. ahead of the tickets going on sale.

In light of the public demand, on Sept. 4, Oasis announced two extra tour dates at Wembley Stadium, London, set to take place in September 2025. In a post shared on X, the group said: "Tickets will be sold by a staggered, invitation-only ballot process. Applications to join the ballot will be opened first to the many U.K. fans who were unsuccessful in the initial on sale with Ticketmaster."

TIME has reached out to Oasis’ representatives for comment.

How are government officials in the U.K. and Ireland responding to the rising complaints?

Government officials in the U.K. and Ireland have spoken out amid rising complaints from disgruntled Oasis fans. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke on BBC’s Radio 5 Live show , stating the government will address the issue of dynamic pricing—the name given to the pricing system that raises costs by demand.

“This is really important, because this isn’t just an Oasis problem. This is a problem for tickets for all sorts of events, where people go online straight away, as soon as they can, and within seconds sometimes, sometimes minutes, all the tickets are gone, and the prices start going through the roof, which means many people can’t afford it,” Starmer said. “We have to stop that. We’re consulting on that. I do think there are a number of things that we can do, and we should do.”

Meanwhile, Lucy Powell, the Leader of the House of Commons, also went on the show, and in discussing the dynamic pricing concept, said she was upset to see “inflated prices excluding ordinary fans.” She went on to say that the government plans to investigate “issues around the transparency and use of dynamic pricing, including the technology around queuing systems which incentivise it.”

The conversation is prevalent in Ireland, also, as Tánaiste Micheál Martin, the Deputy Prime Minister, has spoken out about the debacle to Irish news outlet RTÉ . He said there could be a role for the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) to investigate it. He went on to say he hoped those behind the ticket sales would “reflect” on the issues present.

“I do think we need a strong reflection on this runaway inflation in costs,” Martin said. “Clearly it was beyond the reach of many, many people to purchase or to be in a position to afford to get to a concert given the acceleration of price increases around the tickets.”

More dates have been added to Oasis’ 2025 reunion tour this morning (August 29) due to “unprecedented demand” – check out all the new dates below.

The Britpop band announced a huge UK and Ireland headline tour earlier this week (August 27), dubbed Oasis Live ’25. Set to take place in July and August, the trek will see Liam and Noel Gallagher perform on stage together for the first time in 16 years.

The highly anticipated tour is currently made up of multiple gigs at Manchester’s Heaton Park, London’s Wembley Stadium, Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Dublin’s Croke Park, and Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium.

Now, three further dates have been added at Manchester, Wembley and Edinburgh after there being “phenomenal interest” in the tour so far.

Tickets for Oasis’ 2025 UK and Ireland tour go on general sale at 9am BST this Saturday (August 31) – you’ll be able to buy yours here (UK), and here (Ireland). Fans could also sign up for a ballot to access a pre-sale on Friday (August 30) before 7pm BST yesterday (August 28).

Ticketmaster have outlined its strict rules for purchasing tickets ahead of the sales – confirming that customers will only be able to order four tickets per household and card.

The band also revealed yesterday (August 29) that they’d partnered with ticket resale platform Twickets for their upcoming reunion tour.

The band’s official website has stated that “Ticket resale is permitted at no more than the price you paid (face value + booking fees).

“Please only use the official resale partners www.twickets.live and Ticketmaster. Selling tickets through unauthorised resale platforms will breach these T&Cs and those tickets may be cancelled,” a statement continues.

Both Gallagher brothers have previously partnered with the fan-to-fan resale site, as well as the likes of Foo Fighters, Queen , and Stormzy .

Twickets founded Richard Davies told IQ Magazine that he expected a “huge demand” for the upcoming tour but, as the dates are a year away, some fans may be unable to attend once they come around.

“We often see tickets resold due to summer holidays being booked, or if groups of friends all try and get tickets, then some of those friends may want to sell and buy for dates their friends are attending,” he told the publication. “Our platform offers a way for fans to sell their tickets to other genuine fans, and avoids people having to use sites that allow inflated prices, which the artists and events companies don’t benefit from.”

Meanwhile, Oasis fans are currently speculating who could join the formerly estranged Gallagher brothers on stage next summer. Previous reports claimed “no other original Oasis member is expected to join the reunion” , and that “the members of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will step in”.

However, it is now expected that co-founding member Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs will be hitting the road too .

Oasis Live ’25 is reportedly set to make a staggering £400million , and will follow the expanded ‘Definitely Maybe’ 30th anniversary reissue , out this Friday (August 30).

Oasis’ reunion tour sparked ticket sale chaos on Saturday as fans reported website crashes and inflated prices .

Fifteen years after their fiery split which sparked a long-standing feud , Noel and Liam Gallagher announced Oasis are set to reform for a string of shows.

It marks 30 years since the Britpop band released their influential debut album Definitely Maybe , which contains the singles Supersonic, Shakermaker, Live Forever, and Cigarettes & Alcohol.

The Wonderwall hitmakers are set to play venues across the UK and Ireland next year, with fans left devastated during general sales due to website crashes and ‘in demand pricing’ seeing ticket costs increase dramatically.

But is there a chance they can stop crying their hearts out with more tour dates set to be announced? Here’s what we know.

Are Oasis releasing more tour dates?

Metro.co.uk understands no further European shows are expected to be announced , but international dates will be revealed at a later date.

All hope is not lost for those hoping to bag tickets , with Ticketmaster fan-to-fan resale on hand to snap up tickets from those looking to sell theirs.

Fans can also buy Oasis tickets at face value or less from Twickets after being warned not to give money to other resale sites.

Oasis themselves released an official warning online, which read: ‘We have noticed people attempting to sell tickets on the secondary market since the start of the pre-sale. Please note, tickets can ONLY be resold, at face value, via @Ticketmaster and @Twickets. Tickets sold in breach of the terms and conditions will be canceled by the promoters.’

Pre-sale tickets opened on August 30 at 7pm BST and were soon snapped up by lucky fans who got a code in their inbox that gave them the first chance to get them.

However, many dedicated fans were left ticketless and waiting in a queue of thousands as tickets went up for sale on unofficial sites for extortionate costs – some even reaching £10,000.

The same issues occurred during general sales, with some tickets being resold for more than £110,000 and many fans reporting being mistaken for bots and booted from ticketing sites.

Mid-sale, one fan on X screenshotted a ticket on the site going for £356.80, while user mufcag90 raged: ‘After hours of queuing they now increase general admission from £158 to £355 plus fees, and rebrand them as “In Demand Standing”. Absolutely obscene. A total disaster.’

As per MailOnline , Ticketmaster has said the extra money from the inflated prices for Oasis tickets will go to the band, sparking fury among fans. The band have not yet addressed the controversy.

Those booking hotels for their chosen dates have also been left fuming by various accommodations increasing their prices due to the surge in those travelling for the shows.

Who is supporting Oasis?

Manchester indie legends Blossoms are reportedly set to support Oasis for their reunion shows.

A source told The Sun : ‘Noel and Liam and Blossoms have been friends for years and with the band also coming from Manchester asking them to support Oasis was a no-brainer.

‘It will be announced in due course but Blossoms have agreed to support Oasis at their Heaton park shows – naturally they jumped at the chance.’

‘It’s a full circle moment for them as members Tom Ogden and Joe Donovan’s first ever gig was at Oasis at Heaton Park.’

Earlier in 2024 the band – comprised of Tom Ogden, Charlie Salt, Joe Donovan, Josh Dewhurst, and Myles Kellock – supported Noel Gallagher and the High Flying Birds during a one-off Royal Albert Hall show in London.

The group formed in 2013 and are famed for singles such as There’s A Reason Why, Your Girlfriend, and Charlemagne.

UK warning issued as football clubs introduce Ticketmaster-style ‘dynamic ticket pricing’

Dynamic pricing is set to be debated by politicians following its involvement in ticketmaster's sale of tickets to oasis reunion concerts.

A warning has been issued after two football clubs confirmed they are introducing dynamic pricing similar to that used by Ticketmaster in the sale of tickets for the recently announced Oasis reunion tour.

Oasis tickets went on general sale last Saturday (31 August) with fans left waiting in a virtual queue for hours on end before finally getting through.

It was, though, a moment that was soured for some after tickets were listed as 'in demand' with costs well in advance of the £150 or so that was advertised for a standing ticket.

Instead of the £150, which fans had days to prepare for and work out if they could afford them, tickets were listed as £355 each.

Those interested in buying tickets then only had minutes to decide if they would pay the 'in demand' price , with many buckling while others simply couldn't afford the extra £205.

The dynamic pricing system was used on Ticketmaster but not Gigs and Tours and See Tickets, where fans could also purchases tickets for the concerts in Cardiff, Manchester, London , Edinburgh, and Dublin.

Now, two football clubs in Europe have confirmed they are adopting the controversial pricing structure for their tickets.

And with that, a huge warning has been issued should any club think about doing the same in England.

Valencia and Celta Vigo, both playing out of Spain's premier football competition LaLiga, are bringing in the fluid pricing structure for this season's matches.

In a statement, Valencia said: "One of the new features for the 2024/25 season is the implementation of dynamic prices when purchasing tickets. Following the global trend established for shows, sporting events and entertainment, Valencia CF will use this practice that has the support and technology of LaLiga.

"Tickets will go on sale with a base price, which could increase as the days go by, subject to different parameters such as the occupation of the stadium area and the proximity of the date, among other factors. Buying your tickets early ensures you the best section and the best price."

In the UK, the Football Supporters Association (FSA) issued a warning against 'greedy owners in football' who might try to 'exploit supporter loyalty' in the English football pyramid.

In a statement, the FSA said: "With impeccable timing after the Oasis fiasco, voices in football have started to float the idea of infecting football with dynamic pricing.

"Never underestimate the potential for the most greedy owners in football to try and import terrible ideas from other industries to exploit supporter loyalty.

"Match-goers are already mobilising against the recent wave of price rises and attacks on concessions. Any underhand increases will be met with enormous opposition."

UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer labelled the dynamic pricing of Oasis tickets as 'depressing' and said it will be looked in to as part of a review in to reselling tickets in the UK.

Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy said: "After the incredible news of Oasis’s return, it’s depressing to see vastly inflated prices excluding ordinary fans from having a chance of enjoying their favourite band live.

"This government is committed to putting fans back at the heart of music. So we will include issues around the transparency and use of dynamic pricing, including the technology around queueing systems which incentivise it, in our forthcoming consultation on consumer protections for ticket resales.

“Working with artists, industry and fans we can create a fairer system that ends the scourge of touts, rip-off resales and ensures tickets at fair prices."

‘This is it, this is happening!’ Het kon niet waar zijn, tot het waar bleek: bijna dag op dag vijftien jaar nadat Noel Gallagher met veel bombarie Oasis verliet, komt de groep weer samen en kondigen de broers meteen 14 shows aan in juli en augustus 2025. Helaas plant de band volgend jaar (voorlopig) geen shows op het Europese vasteland.

Britse regulator start onderzoek naar Ticketmaster na fiasco met verkoop Oasis-tickets

De Britse mededingingsautoriteit CMA is een onderzoek gestart naar Ticketmaster naar aanleiding van de verkoop van tickets voor de reünietour van de Britse band Oasis . Door 'dynamische' tarifering schoten de ticketprijzen bij de verkoop afgelopen weekend snel de hoogte in. De CMA zal nagaan of kopers duidelijke informatie gekregen hebben over de prijzen en of ze niet onder druk werden gezet om snel beslissingen te nemen.

Fans moesten afgelopen weekend online urenlang wachten om een ticket te bemachtigen voor een van de reünieconcerten van de broers Liam en Noel Gallagher. Door de dynamische tarifering evolueerden de prijzen in lijn met de vraag, waardoor de tickets voor Oasis van aanvankelijk 135 pond stegen naar meer dan 350 pond (415 euro).

"Het is duidelijk dat veel mensen een slechte ervaring gehad hebben en verbaasd waren over de ticketprijzen op het moment dat ze moesten betalen", aldus Sarah Cardell, algemeen directeur van CMA. "We willen fans horen die het proces doorlopen hebben en die problemen gehad hebben."

"Niet automatisch onwettig"

De CMA zegt dat het systeem van dynamische tarifering "niet automatisch onwettig is", maar dat het systeem onder bepaalde omstandigheden in strijd kan zijn met de consumentenbeschermings- of mededingingswetgeving.

Daarom wil de autoriteit onder meer onderzoeken of fans op voorhand voldoende werden ingelicht over het systeem en over het feit dat de prijzen konden variëren, maar ook of fans voldoende tijd hebben gekregen tijdens het aankoopproces om te beslissen of ze de 'verhoogde' prijs wilden betalen.

De consumentenwetgeving is duidelijk, luidt het in een persbericht. "Ticketverkoopsites moeten transparant zijn in hun omgang met consumenten en duidelijke en nauwkeurige informatie geven over de prijs die mensen moeten betalen. Het nalaten hiervan kan in strijd zijn met de wet."

Ook Britse regering voert onderzoekt

De Britse regering liet eerder deze week al weten dat ze het gebruik van dynamische prijzen gaat onderzoeken naar aanleiding van de verkoop van de Oasis-tickets.

De CMA verwelkomt het feit "dat de regering maatregelen wil overwegen om consumenten in de ticketsector beter te beschermen, ongeacht waar zij hun tickets kopen". De mededingsautoriteit is "vastbesloten om nauw samen te werken met de overheid om de langdurige uitdagingen in de ticketmarkt aan te pakken".

Ticketmaster zegt dat het niet zelf de prijzen bepaalt, maar dat dat gebeurt door de evenementenorganisator, "die de prijzen bepaalt op basis van de marktwaarde".

De zeventien aangekondigde Oasis-concerten in Ierland en het Verenigd Koninkrijk waren in een mum van tijd uitverkocht. In totaal werden volgens de Britse openbare omroep BBC meer dan 1,4 miljoen tickets verkocht.

Twee extra concerten

Oasis heeft gisteren nog 2 concerten toegevoegd aan de reünietour van volgend jaar. De band speelt 2 extra shows in het Londense Wembley-stadion, op 27 en 28 september 2025.

De band laat weten dat de ticketverkoop via een lotingsysteem gaat. Britse fans die er in eerste instantie niet in slaagden bij de verkoop op Ticketmaster een kaartje te bemachtigen, komen als eerste in aanmerking.

Oasis heeft spijt van ‘dynamische’ prijzen bij kaartverkoop: ‘Als koper kun je geen kant op’

De bandleden van Oasis erkennen dat het afgelopen weekend niet goed ging met de kaartverkoop van hun reünieconcerten. Ze zeggen dat zij niet wisten dat het ging om ‘dynamic pricing’, waarbij de kopers ongewild zelf de prijs opdrijven.

Rampzalige pr, zo valt de kaartverkoop van de reünieconcerten van Oasis kort en bondig samen te vatten. Dat fans afgelopen weekeinde uren in de digitale wachtrij moesten doorbrengen was ingecalculeerd, maar dat ze bij het afrekenen soms meer dan het dubbele moesten betalen, viel ze rauw op het dak.

De Britse versie van de Reclame Code Commissie ontving 450 klachten van kopers die zich belazerd voelden, de Britse waakhond voor marktwerking kondigde donderdag aan te gaan uitzoeken of Ticketmaster zich aan de regels heeft gehouden en ook de Europese commissie stelt een onderzoek in.

“Ik verwacht dat dat zich vooral richt op de communicatie en de digitale wachtrij,” zegt Stephanie Rosenkranz, hoogleraar micro-economie aan de Universiteit Utrecht. “Een koper wist vooraf niet dat de prijs hoger zou kunnen uitpakken, dat is natuurlijk niet goed. En in die digitale wachtrij heb je geen enkele invloed op de plek waar je terechtkomt, terwijl de verkopende partij weet dat iemand die drie uur lang in een wachtrij blijft, blijkbaar heel graag dat product wil kopen.”

Dat bleek zaterdag wel, toen ongeveer een miljoen tickets voor de eerste veertien reünieconcerten van de band van de jarenlang ruziënde broers Noel en Liam Gallagher binnen tien uur allemaal verkocht waren. Een ontgoochelde Britse fan vertelde aan de BBC hoe hij, zijn vrouw, dochter en zoon los van elkaar uren in de digitale wachtrij bivakkeerden, waarna zijn vrouw na zes uur wachten vier tickets kreeg aangeboden voor omgerekend 420 euro per stuk. “Dat vind ik een schande. Oasis was altijd een band van het volk, voor mij bestaan ze nu niet meer.”

Het was een sentiment dat breed gedeeld werd. De aanstichter: dynamische prijsstelling, dat we kennen uit de luchtvaart en de taxibranche. Wie bijvoorbeeld een Uber bestelt bij de Johan Cruijff Arena, zal veel meer betalen als dat pal na een voetbalwedstrijd of concert gebeurt. De prijs voor zo’n rit wordt live aangepast, gebaseerd op de vraag.

Verontwaardiging

Waarom hoor je er niemand over bij het bellen van een Uber, maar staan concertgangers op hun achterste benen? “De morele verontwaardiging hoorde je nooit wanneer allerlei bedrijfjes kaartjes voor hogere prijzen doorverkochten. Dat je het nu wel hoort, heeft te maken met de artiest, want die bepaalt,” zegt Henk Schuit, directeur van Eventim, dat net als bijvoorbeeld Ticketmaster kaartjes verkoopt.

“Dat Oasis als band van het volk kiest voor dynamic pricing, leidt tot verontwaardiging. Hetzelfde overkwam Bruce Springsteen een paar jaar geleden.”

Economisch is er een duidelijk verschil tussen het bestellen van een Uber en het kopen van een concertkaartje. “Is een Uber te duur, dan is er nog een bus of een trein, of zijn er andere taxibedrijven die de concurrentie aangaan. Daarmee wordt de prijs vanzelf gecorrigeerd en werkt het systeem best goed,” zegt hoogleraar Rosenkranz. “Bij Oasis heb je het over een soort monopolie, daar kun je als koper geen kant op.”

Geen transparantie

Juist dat aspect stuit Wim Dubbink als hoogleraar bedrijfsethiek aan de Universiteit Tilburg tegen de borst. “Er is geen enkele transparantie, als koper voel je je aan de goden overgeleverd. Dit is geen marktwerking, maar misbruik maken van de markt. Een vaste prijs voor een product voelt voor mensen als rechtvaardig, bij dynamische prijsstelling wordt dat volledig losgelaten.”

In Nederland houdt de Autoriteit Consument & Markt (ACM) toezicht op dit soort verkoopmodellen. Volgens een woordvoerder is dynamische prijsstelling niet illegaal, maar is het de vraag of het (sociaal) wenselijk is. Als je de betalingsbereidheid van een koper ziet als een elastiek, dan wordt dat maximaal opgerekt. “Had Oasis een prijsplafond gehanteerd, dan zouden fans dat als eerlijker hebben ervaren,” zegt Rosenkranz. De Britse versie van de ACM onderzoekt of de fans vooraf zijn ingelicht over het prijsmodel en of Ticketmaster kopers op oneerlijke wijze onder druk heeft gezet om in korte tijd te beslissen over de aankoop.

“Artiesten als Oasis geven de kaartverkoop uit handen en zullen verder niet te veel vragen meer stellen, denk ik,” zegt hoogleraar bedrijfsethiek Dubbink. Dat laatste blijkt dicht bij de waarheid te liggen: Oasis liet woensdagavond bij de aankondiging van twee extra concerten op Wembley weten daarbij af te zien van dynamic pricing. De broers Gallagher meldden in een verklaring niet op de hoogte te zijn geweest van het gekozen systeem. Nu kiest Oasis voor een lotingsmodel waarvoor fans zich vooraf kunnen aanmelden.
