The current leg in Cebu is their second for the World Travel Fair. The following legs will be held in the six cities on the following dates:
The first leg happened at the Pampanga SMX Convention Center last June 23 to 25.

The sixth and final leg will be held at the One Ayala Trade Hall in Makati City on December 8-10. The culminating activity will serve as the final celebration of The World Travel Expo’s Seventh Year.
World Travel Expo is the brainchild of AdAsia Conventions and Exhibitions International Corp. and AdAsia Group OPC. The Expo launched successfully back in 2016 and only stopped during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Members of the Cebu Provincial Tourism Office, Cebu City Tourism Office, and Cebu City Tourism Commission Chairperson Councilor Jocelyn Pesquera were present during the event.
“We are very steadfast in our objective and our commitment to stick and be true to our promise of becoming part of the unified and indivisible one Cebu island. And so these programs that we are doing, like the sunset cruise, are part of our offerings that do not compete but complement the offerings of the island province of Cebu,” said Cebu City Tourism Officer Neil Odchigue
In their press conference on Jokai Cruises’ sunset cruise, World Travel Expo invited a number of panelists to talk about their stake in the World Travel Fair at Ayala.
RCBC Bankard Services will be providing credit card privileges during the event. Approval for credit cards is said to be under one hour.
Jokai Cruises will be offering exclusive yacht charters. On the day of the event, they will be selling Joiners’ cruise tickets. A person can buy a ticket for themselves to experience the cruise along with others.
EON travel&tours will be offering travel packages during the event.
For airline promos, China Airlines will provide promo rates for their flights. Starlux will also be giving all-in fares for flights.
VIBO Place advertised their expansion of Axis Entertainment Avenue. VIBO Land, their sister company, will also be selling condominium units from West Jones Residences.
In his closing remarks, Pol Cadeliña of GEA Event Productions, said, “The World Travel Expo is an important event to the travel industry, providing a platform for business to showcase their products and services and travelers to discover new destinations and experiences.”
“For the past 6 years, the World Travel Expo has only been held in Metro Manila but this year, we decided to take the Expo to other cities in the country namely Clark, Cebu, Davao, Zamboanga, Bacolod, and congregating in Metro Manila. We call this series of events the World Travel Fair to show that we have a special connection to each city we visit. Our vision for this year’s event is to highlight the unique features and attractions in each of these cities as well as the rich culture, heritage, and delicious cuisine,” he added.

World Travel Expo 2023 goes to the regions
For the first time in its seven years of existence, World Travel Expo (WTE) 2023 organized by Ad Asia Events will be held in five key provincial cities on different dates, culminating at the World Trade Center in Pasay City in November.
Ad Asia founder Miles Caballero said WTE 2023 will move from city to city to serve customers from other regions who do not have the time or luxury to go to Manila for the travel expo. She bared the holding of the World Travel Expo 2023 in these places: June 16-18 (SMX Clark), July 14-16 (SMX Bacolod), August 10-12 (Ayala Center Cebu), September 15-17 (SMX Davao), October 6-8 ( KCC Mall Zamboanga) and November 17-19 (WTC Manila).
At the same time, WTE has inked a partnership with RCBC Credit Cards to make it easy for credit cardholders to fund their travel goals. As co-presenter of this year's event, RCBC cards will be visible at the expo to offer numerous privileges to their customers such as unlimited free access for two at the Marhaba Lounge in T3 and free Priority Pass membership to enable premium credit cardholders to access airport lounges around the world.
"RCBC cardholders can also get free travel insurance of up to P5 Million, as long as they use their credit cards to purchase airline tickets. Customers can also convert their purchases abroad at 0% interest for three months, digitally, through the RCBC Digital app,’’ announced Arniel Vincent B. Ong, President and CEO of RCBC Bankard Services Corp.
“We have noticed that travel spend is back and many of our cardholders are again traveling. Records show that bookings for airlines, hotels and accommodations in 2022 among our customers were five times more than in 2021. We're also seeing a lot of overseas transactions, so partnering with WTE will just grow all of this further," Ong commented.
Since summer is fast approaching and more Filipinos are keen on taking advantage of the opportunities to enjoy their summer break and their travel goals in the coming months, Mylene J. Bico, the Chief Commercial Officer of RCBC Bankard Services Corp., gave some tips to travelers on credit card usage.
“We encourage travelers to take advantage of the various travel benefits that are available. For RCBC credit cards, we have credit card products that provide superior rewards when the card is used for overseas purchases. Our recently re-launched RCBC Visa Infinite credit card provides 5x reward points for purchases abroad. Our travel credit cards such as Visa Platinum and AirAsia co-brand provide superior spend to air miles conversion so they can accumulate more and redeem flights faster. These benefits enable cardholders to get the most out 0f their travel spend,’’ she shared.
Also present during the contract signing held in Ortigas Center were Benjamin R. Cumpas, Jr. (SVP Sales and Distribution), and Angelica Yap (Division Head, Marketing Program Management) of RCBC Bankard as well as Paulo Mayor Clasiete of PMM Multimedia Services which is helping the expo in marketing and promotions.

Various booths were set up for the three-day event by exhibitors which include airlines, tour and travel agencies, resorts, hotels, travel insurance, visa specialists, and more.
Every booth offers various discounts and packages for the enjoyment of travel enthusiasts.

“This International Travel Fair will open gates and allow every Filipino to travel, to see the world, and experience what it’s like be able to see other culture. But more importantly, this will also make them tourism ambassadors themselves,” said Lawyer Mae Elaine Bathan, an Undersecretary of the Department of Tourism, in her speech.

“The Philippines’ fifth consecutive win as Asia’s Leading Dive Destination further affirms the unparalleled beauty and megabiodiversity of our country loved by divers and tourists all over the world,” enthused Secretary Frasco, who is a dive advocate and certified diver herself.
The tourism chief added that “this is a testament to the Philippines’ commitment to sustainable tourism development and our strengthened collaboration with tourism stakeholders. From our ridges to our reefs, you will never run out of reasons to Love the Philippines!”
Elevating the Dive tourism portfolio
Under President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.’s administration, Secretary Frasco, who is a certified diver, has been leading the DOT in elevating the country’s dive tourism industry.
The DOT created the first-ever Dive Committee that will align its dive product development and promotion thrusts with its attached agencies, the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines, and the Philippine Commission for Sports Scuba Diving (PCSSD).
The DOT will likewise convene the country’s national dive stakeholders in the first-ever Philippine Dive Dialogue in Cebu next week to consolidate all the efforts of the national government, local governments, and private sector partners.
Moreover, the DOT, through its infrastructure arm, TIEZA, eyes the installation of additional hyperbaric chambers that will improve scuba diving safety standards in strategic dive locations, such as Dumaguete and Daanbantayan in Cebu, by 2024.
The agency has also launched its own dive expo brand, the Philippine International Dive Expo (PHIDEX), the world’s only dive show that combines a dive travel exchange, a business-to-business (B2B) meeting program, dive conferences and seminars, exhibition booths, and familiarization tours to key and emerging Philippine dive destinations. The fourth edition of PHIDEX is scheduled for February next year.
The Department continuously hosts regional dive-centric events, including the DOT Office of Product and Market Development – Dive Team’s Anilao Underwater Shootout in Batangas, the DIVE7 Festival series by the DOT Region VII office, the Davao Dive Expo by the DOT Region XI office, and the NorthMin Dive by the DOT Region X office —which opened yesterday (Sept. 6)—among others. The Department also extended its support to a multitude of diving initiatives, assessments, and expeditions, including the Cebu Travel Catalogue, the Bohol Loop Dive Expo (BHOLDEX), the 3rd MisOr Dive Festival, Samal Island Dive Seafari, Bay Deep Mati Freediving Festival, and numerous others.
2023 World Travel Awards
DOT Undersecretary Shahlimar Hofer Tamano personally received the WTA Asia’s Leading Dive Destination 2023 trophy, which was awarded based on public votes and validation from the group’s panel of travel professionals. Philippine private tourism stakeholders also bagged notable victories at the WTA Asia & Oceania Gala Ceremony 2023, being named in the following Asian and country categories: Okada Manila (Asia’s Leading Casino Resort), Discovery Shores Boracay (Philippines’ Leading Beach Resort 2023), Travelite Travel and Tours Co. (Philippines’ Leading Destination Management Company 2023), and Seda Hotels (Philippines’ Leading Hotel Group 2023), among others.
Regional edition awardees, along with runners-up and previous year’s winners, are qualified for the WTA’s World edition, which will have its grand awards night in Muscat, Oman in November 2023.
Established in 1993, the WTA is now globally recognized as the “ultimate hallmark of excellence” in the tourism and hospitality industries. The WTA encompasses country awards, regional awards, and world awards.
