Santa will be returning to grottos across Worcestershire again for Christmas 2021.
The pandemic and lockdown restrictions prevented the twinkly-eyed white-bearded old man from delighting families in 2020 - but he's back and busier than ever this year.
He will be bringing his reindeers, elves and other little helpers to grottos across the county and will be greeting children over the next few weeks right up until Christmas Eve when he'll fly home.

BrumWish 2021 aims to get thousands of Christmas gifts to young children in need across our city - the homeless, the vulnerable, kids in care and kids who have little.
This year's appeal is bigger and better than ever - because we have teamed up with our partners at #Toys4Birmingham, including Thrive Together Birmingham, the Birmingham Playcare Network, the Edgbaston Foundation and Birmingham Forward Steps.
Also involved are Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust, Barnardo's, Spurgeon's children's charity, the Springfield project in Sparkhill, St Paul's Community Development Trust and Your Local Pantry, which runs food hubs in 12 locations across Birmingham and the Black Country.
Three donation days, held at Edgbaston to take in new and nearly new donations of gifts and books, are now ended.
You can buy a gift from the #Brumwish Amazon Wishlist here.
You can also donate cash, which will go into a fund held by a charity partner to use to plug gaps or buy specialist toys for children with additional needs. This is the link to make a donation.

This was our third visit as a family from ages 18mths to a lot older! Everyone was very polite and helpfull and we had no problem getting our seats all together on both journeys. The children love the train ride and all the christmas decorations along the way. The wait for Santa was very quick and the quality of the gift very good considering the total price for such a nice day out. I think this is an excellent family christmas outing and will definitely be doing it again next year.
An amazing family day out! I booked this trip for my two younger children and we had a great day....... The trip was well organised by the staff, they were so friendly and helpful throughout the whole day I would highly recommend this adventure for most famillies with young children. Santa was amazing and made the adventure more magical for my children. Credit to all the staff today and Thank you for a wonderful day.
We have had a great time today visiting Father Christmas. I would really like to thank all of the staff we found this trip to be really well organised and all staff were really friendly. We arrived in plenty of time as advised as the car park does get busy and we were guided into a parking space with no problem. The station looked really pretty. We were shown to a carriage on the train no waiting around at all. It was about 30 minutes to the grotto and our children loved the steam train experience. Once we arrived at the grotto we enjoyed some gorgeous roasted chestnuts and although it was extremely busy we waited less than 5 minutes to see Father Christmas. All Santas helpers were friendly and it was refreshing to have time with Santa he chatted with the children we didn't feel rushed in and out! On the way back we stopped off at Bewdley, which is worth a visit. I felt it was well worth the money all three generations of my family thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I will recommend to my friends.
Although the train ride on the way to Arley was good, the queue to see Santa was way too long and all of the kids and adults were getting fed up. The train journey on the way back wasn't as good as outward journey and we had to wait a good 20 minutes for the train to depart. All in all I felt it was over priced. Too busy and too long a wait.
Thank you for your review. I am sorry to read of your disappointment you experienced with our Santa Special. Our volunteers take great pride in these events each year would be sadden to read of your disappointment. If you would like to contact me on [email protected] to discuss this matter further I would be very grateful. Once again thank you for taking the time to write this review.
We went as a family to Kidderminster, with our 2 year old grandson & his baby brother. The whole day, from the moment we arrived to when we left, was so perfectly organised and well run in a manner which would put many larger 'professional' concerns to shame. The SVR staff could not have been more helpful & accommodating, the train trip was superb, the grotto perfect and the presents from Santa of a superior quality which I have not encountered elsewhere. The food in the stations was first class, the decorations tasteful and attractive and nothing was 'tacky' as you so often find at this time of year ! All in all, an excellent day : the SVR is to be highly commended and we will most certainly be booking for next year !
Went on this trip with great expectations. Will not go again. First when we arrived at the station it was crammed due to very poor organising of the queue for the train. Instead of one line they were all over the place blocking our access to the stalls and restaurant. This felt very unsafe if something were to happen. Then came time for our train. Same again which then aloud the queue jumpers to pile in.A little organised on the out going train. Got to the Santa end Very Good. And a great Santa. But then the return. Dreadful talk about free for all what an utter joke. And very unsafe for Kids. Grown-ups thrashing and barging to get a seat like animals. I got knocked over and I am 60 so what chance a child, No proper queue. Very Dangerous we will never go here again.
Thank you for your review. I am sorry to read about your disappointment with our Santa Special. I would be very grateful if you could please contact me on [email protected] to discuss this matter further. Once again thank you for taking the time to write this review.

Santa Special
We took the kids on the Santa Special, a steam train trip from Kidderminster to Arley (and back) with a visit to Santa's Grotto (in a set of converted train carriages). The event is very popular, so Kidderminster station is very busy, you're advised to arrive 45 minutes before departure time as boarding all of the passengers (many of whom have pushchairs that need to be handed over to the train staff for loading in the guards' waggons) takes a considerable amount of time. On the way out, you have "allocated seating" - which basically means the number of seats of the train is equal-to or greater-than the number of booked passengers but because the return journey can be taken at leisure (with the option of getting off at Bewdley), seating it not guaranteed coming back (but on the whole there are enough seats anyway). The kids really enjoyed the day out, and so did we as parents. The only fly in the ointment of the day was the journey home from Kidderminster which, thanks to LondonMidland's ongoing staffing issues meant that our intended train home was cancelled and we had to wait 30 minutes in the cold at Kidderminster station for the following service.
Wasted my time and money on the Santa special railway journey today. The staff at Kidderminster were really rude and grumpy and could'nt organise a kids party. We were called to board our train and unfortunately we were at the front of the queue. I say unfortunately because then platform staff then proceeded to want to board to large parties that had booked and they steamed straight past us paying common folk to get on the train first and squashed my 5 year old in the process. When I commented on the order in which they wanted us a member of staff then spat at me 'well if you got a complaint then tell Bewedley." Which don't worry I will be first thing on Monday morning. The confrontation really but a dampeners on the start of the day. Then we were left waiting on the platform as second class customers waiting for staff to organise the two group parties so that they could sit together. When finally got to Arley the grotto is shappy and the present cheap old tat which I would have expected in the 70's, a cheap plastic marley game and a fold away kite. Do yourself a favour and save your money and time. First time I've ever been and it will most definately be my last.
I am sorry to note that your visit to see Santa on the SVR did not go as expected, please would you email [email protected] with full details to allow us to deal with your complaint as effectively as possible.
Our 21 month old son loved seeing the full size steam trains and also enjoyed riding on the scale model steam railway that runs alongside the platforms. The little museum was surprisingly interesting to someone with a modicum of interest in railway history and its little cafe was friendly and welcoming.
The weather was cold but dry, ideal for this December trip. The Santa Express from Kidderminster was well organised and fun for the children (and adults). The adults were allowed in to see Santa as well as the children, and what a good Santa he was! The whole experience was well worth the effort of booking. A good few hours entertainment. There are plenty of facilities for everyone at Kidderminster, Bewdley and Arley. Car parking for the day at Kidderminster station £3 on a Sunday.
Our trip on the Severn Valley Railway was a treat bought for us for our 40th weddjng anniversary and it was such a memorable day. We know the Severn Valley well and being able to get off whenever we wanted at the different stations was lovely, we love going to Arley and Bewdley. We spent time in the visitor centre at Highley and thoroughly enjoyed watching other trains go past. We then had time in Bridgnorth a super little town and really enjoyed our trip back to Kidderminster.
Hired the observation car for a family party of 22. It was a wonderful, memorable experience. The car is furnished beautifully and the view down the line is special. The buffet was good home-made style fare (no-one went away hungry!) and the stewards really look after you.

Exotic Zoo, Telford Christmas 2023
This one is a real local for us in Telford. Around 4 years ago, our local ‘Animal Man’ set up camp in an independent garden centre. Following acquisition of their Zoo License, the small Zoo has grown in size and stature over the past year and is now an excellent little day out. Father Christmas takes up residence in their Igloo and children encounter several real animals before meeting the man himself. With a chance to see some old favourites such as Little the Donkey and Dodger the horse along with some more exotic creatures such as Elsa and Rosie the snakes, the children get a fabulous experience and lots of opportunity for hands on too! There is a small café in the garden centre that serves excellent tea and cake and the children have a gift included in their Father Christmas visit too.

The Polar Express 2023
Our experience took place at Telford Steam Railway and without a doubt, this has to be the BEST Father Christmas experience we have had over the last few years! Booking tends to get filled up around 6 months before hand at The Telford Steam Railway but I did notice that other stations are coming on board (for example Moor Street in Birmingham who at the time of writing this, still had tickets available!). It all begins with the obligatory dressing in pyjamas and dressing gowns (with extra layers if it is cold!) and arrival at the station where you see part of the story played out by actors…As in the story, the train arrives with the Conductor who calls for anyone who wants to get aboard. If you have your ticket, you can get on the train! With hot chocolate and cookies served by dancing waiters and waitresses, the journey is exciting and festive and with a visit from Father Christmas who presents that all important bell, it was an experience that I think will stay with us forever!
