Torquay, Cruise and Cream Tea

Thoroughly enjoyed 5 day break to Torquay staying at the Derwent Hotel. Changeover from feeder coach to holiday Coach was straightforward. Hotel although dated was clean with room cleaned and replenished every day. Staff very pleasant and no complaints with the food, good choices and plenty of it. Entertainment each evening was enjoyable. Excursions were good especially boat trip and cream tea. Our driver was very good and knowledgeable regarding places visited. No complaints and would recommend.

Excellent Customer Relations. Started out completing my holiday booking on line - an easy, uncomplicated procedure. I phoned the company to query the travel insurance and its payment. This, I understand is under review at present time. The gentleman who handled my query ( I wish I remembered his name) was charming, very helpful and Answered all my questions and then very kindly completed my booking from start to finish. We had a fantastic time drivers very professional and friendly helpful to have their names and phone number on a card in case of emergency Hotel was good with location easy to b walk into Breda Full day in Amsterdam and plenty of time at tulip park Fantastic service getting us home as some coaches were delayed in France and only 4 coaches made it across But arrangements were made to get us home with taxis waiting for us on route Value for money Hoping to return next year

Beautiful part of the world. Varied trips Chris and Blake were amazing Hotel excellent but the food was not the best. Would definitely recommend The Little Boats of the Mediterranean

Really nice tour of Southern Ireland,nice hotel in Killarney.coach was clean & comfortable Drivers were excellent only a little problem with understanding the Scotsman (Chris)he had a very broad accent Hotel in Dublin very noisy would not recommend & a rather long way out of Dublin Hotel in Killarney as excellent in every way

PERFECT DRIVER / Terrible Hotel

The Driver and coach was Good , no complaint But the Beresford Hotel in Newquay was terrible , dirty Carpets in hall and exposed Ariel on window sill ,grubby decor , Hanging Shower door , which is dangerous and No cover on the shower drain , plus room not cleaned or changed once ! We had to complain and ask for fresh towels as the wet ones had not been collected till manager came up. After complaint !! One night the food was bad Burnt apple pie , covered by funny tasting Custard and a couple had a TEA BAG in their Custard , everyone left the food that evening !!! Nice Staff but hotel really let the holiday Down , we would Truly think twice before booking unless we explored the Hotel we were staying at . Really disappointed , I do have photos to send should you want Them disgusting !!!!

Lovely 5 day break to Holland visiting…

Lovely 5 day break to Holland visiting Keuekenoff, Amsterdam, The Hague and picturesque Delft. Dan & Andy our crew were excellent and nothing was too much trouble, they made it a very special time. The Coach in Holland was roomy and comfortable. The hotel in Den Haag was first class, bedrooms really lovely and modern. The buffet breakfast was vast. Excellent meals in the hotel restaurant.

Chelmsford to Isle of Wight April 24

Chelmsford to Isle of Wight April 24 Nice comfy coach with nice helpful drivers Cane & Dave, Plenty to do and see, hotel (Broadway Park) was much better than the neggy reviews read before trip. Room nice, clean, comfy beds, great nights sleep, breakfast and dinner food was nice with plenty of choice. Staff at hotel probably stretched a little but all were friendly, polite and helpful.

Amazingly good and would visit again.

Woah where to start. Our driver Jim was so nice and gave us so much reassurance on the journey there!! It was so bwautiful!! Scenery was excellent and the hotel was divine. The staff there were incredibly friendly, kind and welcoming. Definitely one we will be visiting gain. The food was absolutely lovely and my mum felt very spoilt. We didn’t want to come home. It was incredible and worth the money.

French and Italian Rivera

The holiday was excellent lots of trips some not good for those with less mobility Rob the driver was very helpful and took care of people. The hotel was difficult for the coach to drive to due to narrow roads and one way system both drivers were excellent in negotiating this Shearing should look at this. One of the most fun holidays in ages. The trip to Monaco well worth paying extra for the guided tour

Five days experiencing an enjoyable holiday

Thewent according to plan with changes between coaches on route carried out efficiently. The hotel near Hexham was comfortable and the meals were of a high quality and delicious. The staff in the hotel were most helpful and our coach driver absolutely brilliant. It proved to be a stay of the highest quality….thank you for the great five day holiday.

Coach not as advertised

Yet again the tour coach was substandard, second holiday with Shearings and both times the tour coach was not as expected, not Shearings. Tatty with limited leg room and broken hand grip. Will not book again with Shearing as you can’t be sure of the quality of the coach, which is a shame as very thing else was excellent. The drivers Chris and Junior were professional but friendly and fun. Hotel good and in an excellent location. If the coach had been better it would have been 5stars

Fantastic 5 day break to Holland

Fantastic 5 day break to Holland, visiting Keukenhof, Amsterdam, The Hague & Delft. Our crew were Dan & Andy, in a very comfortable coach and they were outstanding. Lots of fun and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in The Hague in a fabulous hotel, with lovely rooms, very comfortable beds, a great shower and a buffet breakfast which was top notch! Yes, the weather could have been better and there is a lot of travelling, but we loved it! Thanks so much and to the other people we met, as we had many laughs!

Holiday on Isle of Wight staying at Broadway Park Hotel

We had an enjoyable 5 day holiday on the Isle of Wight.The coach and drivers Cain and David were excellent.The hotel was very clean and staff were great only small criticism was the food breakfast was good but evening meals were just OK portions were small and not very exciting but certainly very adequate.Would strongly recommend this holiday.By the way the trips were really good.

Gt Yarmouth trip. Excellent holiday apart from initial confusion at South Mymms for feeder coach. Had to ask a driver of a non labelled coach if it was correct to transfer to Cobham to board trip coach as no previous information given about this.

The 132-page brochure includes rail experiences, flowers and garden holidays, Christmas market breaks, Alpine escapes and river cruises, all ranging from four days to 16 days.

All holidays include coach travel with more than 500 UK joining points, hotel accommodation with breakfast, and specified excursions.

New tours include the six-night Winter Wonderland in the Austrian Lakes, with visits to Alpine towns Bad Ischl and Hallstatt, and lakes Traunsee, Mondsee and Attersee in the Salkammergut region.

The lead-in price is £679 with a £129 supplement for solo travellers, and includes accommodation, breakfast and four evening meals.

Also new  is an all-inclusive Italian and French Rivieras tour. The eight-night itinerary includes visits to Alassio, Cervo, Cannes and Grasse before ending in Monaco.

The lead-in price is £859 and includes accommodation, breakfast, six evening meals, five packed lunches and free selected drinks between 2pm and 10pm.

Shearings’ latest brochure also includes six new river cruises.

The eight-night Romantic Middle Rhine Valley itinerary departs from Cologne and sails south aboard the A-Rosa Brava, visiting Rüdesheim, Strasbourg, Mainz and Koblenz.

The tour includes seven nights of cruising with full board, all drinks on board the ship and one night at a hotel with continental breakfast. The lead-in price is £2,099.

Shearings has launched a £1 deposit campaign to encourage bookings during September and October. Once the £1 deposit is paid, there is nothing else to pay until 28 days before departure for self-drive hotel breaks, and 42 days before departure for coach holidays and river cruises.

Head of retail sales Ashley Dellow said: “Shearings was acquired by Leger Holidays during the first lockdown and this brochure launch is the first opportunity we’ve had to really expand on Shearings’ European escorted coach holiday portfolio.

“Travel agents are reporting increased demand for coach holidays to Europe. Customers are keen to avoid the possibility of air disruption and all the hassle that goes with air travel.

“On an escorted coach tour, customers board the coach at a convenient local joining point and then relax and enjoy the view.”

Shearings Holidays unveils its brand new grand tourer livery

Shearings Holidays , the award-winning specialist operator of escorted tours, has announced that 15 brand new Mercedes Tourismo Euro V1 coaches have joined its luxury coach fleet, Grand Tourer.

The new livery features a stylish design by renowned transport artist, Ray Stenning, which sees the iconic blue colours of Shearings, rolled across the Grand Tourer fleet in place of gold.Ray Stenning, said of the new design, “Having worked closely with Denis Wormwell and the team on the previous Shearings Setra coaches, they were keen to involve us in creating a fresh image for the brand new Grand Tourer coaches. This was ensure the Tourismos’ were aligned with the whole Shearings livery”

The brief was to come up with a premium design that delivers consistency, while also communicating the luxury image that the Grand Tourer brand is all about. Accordingly, we worked on modernising the existing design so that it’s fresh and appropriate for the high-end market, yet still instantly recognisable as Shearings.”

The announcement comes on the back of further growth in customer volumes, which earlier saw the company expand its range of Grand Tourer holidays and update its tour and excursion programme in 2015.

Seats on Shearing coaches

Hi. Has anyone here been on a Shearings holiday recently, and can tell me about the front seat? I have been allocated modest board no. 1 and fear it won’t give me enough room. If it’s a solid board that is it, game over. I spoke to someone in the company and she seems to think it may have a bit of room at the bottom for the feet, but I’m not so sure.

Also, I have a 5.40am pick up. Worried I can’t cope ‘toilet’ wise. If I cancel now, I lose 70% of the holiday.

Are you paying exactly the same as everyone else Jazzi or are they offering you a discount?

I looked here https://www.leger.co.uk/pdfs/Seating-Plan-Executive.pdf and it says Modesty board seats have slightly less legroom and may not have footrests. If you’re paying the same as everyone else you might want to get in touch with citizens advice and ask whether you can claim a full refund? \

How long is the trip? I’d probably not be happy either if I was paying the same as everyone else tbh - can’t they give those seats to children instead?

ask them to change your seat Jazzi ,Tell them you are not happy with a front seat as you will throw up being so close to the front , and Most Coaches have Toilets on board usually to the middle so if you need the toilet a lot ,maybe get one close to the middle …

If you’ve paid the same price as everyone else, you’re entitled to equal comfort

Are you travelling alone? My friend, who is a widow, often tells me she gets shoved into the worst seats and hotel room

Phone them up, tell them you only booked on the promise of a comfortable seat with leg room as promised in their adverts and ask for a different seat, as you paid full price

If they say no, rant some more and demand a full refund for your cancellation

Get the name of who you spoke to and ask to speak to their manager, and the customer service manager. Rant again

Warn them that if they don’t comply, you’ll take legal action, and will shame them all over social media, including all the pensioner groups you belong to and the newspapers

Say you will expose them for discriminating against single women travellers and intend to take it up with your MP

Follow that up with an email and a letter saying the same thing, copy AgeUK, your MP, Citizens advice and anyone else you can think of

Send emails/letters to your MP and councillors and local papers and copy their customer services in

If you’re on Facebook or Twitter, put your complaint in their comments, or get someone else to do it for you. Then get all your friends to join in

Don’t let them get away with it, it’s not right, those seats should be cheaper, they are bang out of order and are taking advantage of you.

The only discount I am getting is there is no single room supplement (this was on selected holidays). And yes I did phone and was told the coach is full, so cannot change the seat.

The 5.40am departure worries me toilet wise. There is a stop maybe an hour away, for collection (Thickthorn services), but if the second leg is one of their coaches we can use any seat.

Going from Lowestoft to Thickthorn (Norwich), on to Rugby, for the coach with the allocated mod board seat, then to Whitby.

I looked into the idea of going by train, at a more reasonable hour, but as someone warned me on FB, what about cancellations, or delays.

And though it was suggested I could sleep on the coach, not sure about that if it’s slightly uncomfortable. What a dilemma! And no, I had absolutely no idea they would suggest such an early time.

Maree, don’t get upset! And there is no point me going down that route of complaint.

I’ve not travelled by shearings …however I have been on locks and glens coach holidays .

The front seat being highly prized, if shearing can’t help I’m sure once onboard one of the passengers would be willing to swap seats with you.

I thought the front seat on a coach was the one everybody wanted, because you get the best view and are first off.

I looked at their site and it says for a small supplement you can book 1st or 2nd row seats .So have you? aYou must get in touch with them to say you don’t want that seat ,it’s not suitable . If you didn’t request it and they just gave it to you they’re out of order surely if they won’t change it ? Ask to speak to Head Office if you get any aggro.

When I phone to cancel, and it is when, not if, I shall ask for a better refund because of the seat allocation and the time of pick up.

I just watch bus and coach activity on youtube from my sofa, guess I am a Coach Potato!

We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

How many days are enough in Moscow?

If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you.
