Start your day driving through the beautiful Pedro Plains farmland and on to the historic town of Black River, where you can pick up whatever supplies you may need.

Continue through Bamboo Avenue, a 3-mile long stretch of road shaded by an archway of giant bamboo.

Then it is off to the newly renovated state of the art Appleton Rum Factory Tour. Learn of the early methods of distillation, complete with demonstrations, right on up to today’s distillation processes. Once you’ve toured the facilities you will understand why Jamaican rum is known as some of the best rum in the world. Of course, no rum tour would be complete without the rum tasting!

End the day with a lovely drive on a country road taking you along the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains and back home to Treasure Beach.

Appleton Estate Tour

Upon reaching the estate, the tour guides will illustrate the history of rum making in the region. After a lively discussion of the days when sugar cane was crushed by donkey power, the tours move on to a behind the scenes tour of the modern facility. After the tour, you will sample all the rum and wine they made.

On this tour, you will learn the historic production process of Appleton Estates’ Rums. You will see earlier methods used to remove juice from sugarcane, learn about the distillation process in their 200-year-old pot stills and visit one of the Estate’s barrel houses where rums age to excellence. Appleton Estate Rum Tour in Jamaica

Many people love the famous Appleton Jamaican Rum. When you go on the Appleton Rum Tour, you will get an overview of the history of the estate, get to see how rum is made and sample many different types of rums.  The estate comprises of 11,000 acres of fields in the Nassau valley. The valley sits at the foot of the Santa Cruz mountains and is watered by the Black River which flows through it.

The Appleton Rum Tour

When you start the tour, you will watch an overview of the Estate and how it is run. Then you will have a tour of the remaining parts of the history of the estate including some old equipment. There are two old sugar cane crushers that are still shown to visitors and a demonstration with a donkey on how they use to operate the cane crushers.

Then you will go on a tour of the distillery to see the famous rum being distilled. Here you will get to taste “wet sugar” (aka molasses) as it is being distilled in giant copper pots.

The next stage of rum production is the aging house.  In this part of the tour you will see large white oak barrels ageing various types of rum. The aging process varies from three years up to thirty years. The last stage is the blending. This is where the rums are blended in to the world famous Appleton flavours.

The most popular part is the rum sampling. You have the opportunity to sample 16 varieties produced at the Estate.

There is a gift shop to buy and take Appleton Rum home as well as a bar to have some drinks while you are there.

This tour is usually combined with the  South Coast Tour  which includes YS Falls,  Black River Safari  and/or  Pelican Bar .

Great road trip and tour. The driver did a good job and the tour guide at Appleton did an excellent job as well. I would recommend this tour to persons who want to see Jamaica and learn about how rum is made.

We also got to see the Black River and Pelican Bar on the way back as well, but at an additional cost of course.

I was hoping I could pass along how impressed we were with Dexter and his knowledge of the area and incredible driving skills. The roads coming back from the rum tour were very difficult to navigate as he had to drive through some very heavy rain. Dexter also was keenly aware of our time constraints and did a fantastic job getting us back to the ship on time…and in one piece. Our only regret was that we didn’t have more time on the island to explore. Your people are so friendly and hard working. One last thought to pass along to Dexter…..Donald Trump will NOT be our next President, so tell him to relax and enjoy the ridiculous process that is all part of campaigning in the good ol US of A. Thanks for the follow-up and we had a great time on our Appleton Rum Estates shore excursion and your guide/driver, Hewin (sp), did a great job. He was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable and was an excellent driver! The country side on the way from Falmouth and Montego Bay up into the mountain hills on the way to Appleton Estates is absolutely beautiful, but the roads are “challenging” being narrow, winding and traffic that made the trip memorable. The tour at Appleton Rum Estates was absolutely fantastic and we were glad that we made the choice to go with your travel service for this “Gem of Jamaica”. The Jamaican lunch on the way back to our ship was also great with the food being just what we were hoping for and gave us a “Jamaican treat” to savor.

My wife Amy and I, along with my In-Laws had utilities your company’s services on January 25th, 2012.

To start off, when we planned this excursion with our cruise we forgot to add the one hour time difference from the ship’s time. When we arrived at Falmouth, we were met by our guide and driver who waited for our ship, Voyager of the Seas.

He was extremely nice and an outstanding representative of Jamaica. We not only enjoyed his good sense of humor, but his knowledge of Jamaica and his willingness to share that with us. He was a very careful driver and at no time did we feel like he put our lives in jeopardy while he drove use from Falmouth to the Appleton Rum Estate.

Once at Appleton, my Mother-In-Law was concerned about him waiting for us while we were taking the tour of the facilities. He not only reassured her that he would wait, but offered to go through the tour with us, to reassure her that he would not leave. While he was walking with us at Appleton, I had a wonderful conversation with him about your beautiful country

We ended up having to cut the tour shot because of our limited time in country. He was very attentive to our time constraint and safely brought us back to the Pier at Falmouth in plenty of time.

It should be brought to your attention that I never told him that I am a police officer in the United States. He should be highly commended about his safe driving, especially while on your back country roads, which are nothing like what we are accustom too in the United States. My family was extremely impressed with Him! He is an outstanding representative of Jamaica and your company, so much so that my In-Laws are planning on returning for an extended vacation stay in Jamaica.

You should be very proud to have him working for your company and as a representative of Jamaica. We did find “Irie Mon” during our visit!
