Graco Contour Electra Travel Cot review

The Graco Contour Electra Travel Cot is designed to make traveling with your little one a lot easier. A good value sturdy travel cot that comes with lots of extras, and is comfortable and roomy, too. It’s on the tricky side to assemble, but overall a great buy for longer-term use.

We were impressed with the Electra. Loaded with extras such as a newborn bassinette, changing mat and toy bar, it represents great value for money.

The most similar in build to a regular cot, our testers all rated it highly for quality, comfort and value. But they found it tricky to assemble as there were so many bits, and also very difficult to get all the parts back into the bag afterwards, which isn’t great when you’re packing up after a family holiday.

The Electra has wheels so it’s easy to move around and there is plenty of room for older toddlers. The mattress feels very comfortable, is thickly padded and even vibrates to help soothe your child to sleep. We like the thoughtful details such as the over cot changing mat, which helps save on space in a small room.

Sturdy and spacious, we thought that overall this was a great buy, especially for longer holidays.

How to Put Up a Travel Cot + Babyway Classic Travel Cot Review

I bought our Babyway Classic Travel Cot about two years ago when we were going on a weekend away with friends and on a Lake District holiday . Our firstborn daughter had just turned one and we needed somewhere for her to sleep safely on these trips. After that, we didn’t use it for nearly two years because we’ve just not been anywhere where we needed a travel cot — other than Sweden but I bought another one that’s pretty much the same but by a brand available in Sweden to keep at my mum’s house.

This item is an essential for us when we’re going away somewhere with the kids. If you’re travelling with pets too, Kitty Cat Reviews has put together a list of good travel carriers for cats.

Last week, I got the travel cot out again because we now have a second baby and she’s on the move! There’s nowhere upstairs where she can play safely as her sister is still using the normal cot as a toddler bed. We co-sleep with Baby No. 2 so she doesn’t have a cot that can be used as a play pen. I can’t believe the difference in my sanity now! I get the travel cot out every day and use it as a play pan so that my baby can play safely while I do some work on the computer, put the washing away or give the toddler a bath.

This travel cot/play pen is suitable from birth until three years old or up to 15kgs. The size is 780 x 1190 x 600mm and the cot comes with a thin base mattress that also wraps around the folded up bed when you put it away. If we can, we take our regular cot mattress with us on trips as it’s the same size as the travel cot. Our regular mattress is 1200 x 600 mm and from IKEA. This travel mattress fits it too.

It’s a sturdy travel cot with a padded central locking rigid frame and mesh windows so that you can easily see your baby and your baby can see you. The material is easy to clean with a cloth.

I really love this travel cot and it’s now being used each and every day to ensure I get some stuff done and my littlest one can play without bumping into things or getting to things or areas that are not suitable for her. She’s also safe away from her sister’s reach and gets to have her toys to herself for a little while which is nice for her.

I highly recommend it and the price tag of around £30.00 is brilliant! I’m not surprised it’s a best seller! Get yours from Amazon.co.uk .

Darryl Baker and her 10-month-old daughter Cole tested out the Red Kite Travel Cot to see if it was worth packing up on holiday.

The Red Kite travel cot comes in a classic design and doesn’t have many of the extras you get with some products. That said, Darryl raved about how easy she found it to assemble. She also liked that it folds up really small into a bag, making it simple to handle and travel with. Her daughter had an average night's sleep in the Red Kite Sleep Tight travel cot. 

The Red Kite is very reasonably priced at around £40 and is a good option for anyone on a bit of a budget who is planning a trip away and wants a relatively lightweight travel cot. It's our pick of the best budget buy in our travel cots buying guide.

The Red Kite Sleep Tight has a standard travel cot design with four legs and two central supports. It has mesh sides so babies can look out and has fully padded top rails for comfort and protection. 

‘The colour and look are sleek and stylish,’ said our tester, Darryl. ‘It's a nice compact size, so not the biggest travel cot but with plenty of room to move and also for her [Cole] to grow with it.’ That said if you have an older baby, you might prefer a longer cot. 

In terms of weight, this travel cot is pretty average, coming in at just over 7kg.

Comfort and features 

While it is relatively basic in terms of travel cot design, the Red Kite Sleep Tight scores extremely high when it comes to ease of assembly. ‘Since first becoming a mum, I’ve borrowed and used three travel cots. I'll be honest, I've pretty much had a fight with all three of them,’ admitted Darryl. ‘Because of prior experience, I wasn’t expecting great things from this Red Kite version so to say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement.’

In fact, Darryl found it so easy to put up and take down, that she sent a video of her doing just that to her mum, whose travel cot she’d previously done battle with. ‘This one went up no problem. It was just as easy to fold back down again and pack away in the handy bag it comes in,’ she added. 

Value for money

At just under £40, the Red Kite Sleep Tight is a very good value product and we've named it our best budget buy in this guide. ‘I think this is easily within a lot of parents' budgets and is a must for anyone who needs an affordable travel cot,’ says Darryl. She thinks it would suit someone who doesn’t ‘want to faff and fight with a product’. Though it doesn’t come with lots of fancy extras, and it could be a little larger, she says the ease of assembly is key – something she hadn’t found with other travel cots that she’s used in the past. ‘When you think about it, [this] is the most important feature of a travel product.’
