- Brahmatal, The Himalayan Trek
Always remember: Nothing is certain during a pandemic. Plans change, strangers become family, memories run through the veins and the experience becomes the motivation for another trek. The adrenaline rush and mini heart attacks? Those are just cameos.
Brahmatal Trek Summit at 12000 Ft.
This being my debut blog, brace yourself for a long journey to 12,000ft above sea level. I assure you of your safety. Can you believe The Burj Khalifa is only 2,000ft high?

Preparation
We started planning in late October and even after knowing the great lockdown, interstate travelling restrictions and non-functional public transport we still decided to go for the trek.
We then booked our trek with Trek the Himalayas group. After a lot of google searches and a hell lot of YouTube videos, I realised I need to get fit first and then started cycling, running and was not even close to the expected stamina for the trek but the workout helped me to keep my muscles loose.
We planned the whole trip, and along with the trek we were also covering Mukteshwar and Munsiyari in Uttarakhand. By road, we were travelling for more than 1300 Km and we didn’t even think once as we knew how heavenly the destination was going to be.
This was also the time when the Farmers’ Bill Bills were passed and the protest against these bills had started around Delhi. Along with this stress we also had to carry a COVID-19 negative report as the Uttarakhand government had mandated the negative report and e-pass to cross the border. 48 hours before the trip everyone had scheduled an RT-PCR COVID-19 test and that was one of the most stressful moments of the trip as even one positive would lead to the cancellation of the whole trip and in addition to that 10 days of quarantine. We needed 6 Negative results and also, we asked the driver to test so there was added pressure.
Himalayan Trek
10th December 2020, was a Happy day as our Optimistic plan was working and we had the required documents, all negative reports, an E-Pass for Uttarakhand, and loads of courage and positivity.

We had communicated to the Trek the Himalayas (TTH) group that we will meet directly at the base camp. Lohajung was the base camp and it was 18 Hrs. drive from Delhi so we took one stop near Nainital and stayed there at night. We Reached Khurpatal at 11 pm, checked in at the hotel and had dinner after that. When I looked up at the sky it was clear and filled with stars. There were two photographer friends with me @shagunbathija and Kaustubh Nerurkar who have a great passion for Stargazing and they started to shoot the sky which looked amazing. This was the first time I had witnessed such a clear sky with thousands of stars.

On 11th December 2020, Early morning we woke up for our first sunrise in the Himalayas. It was the first sunrise of our trip and it was really beautiful. The temperature was around 12 to 15 degrees so a perfect hill station morning. Everyone got ready and did some photoshoots and we checked out from the hotel.

According to the plan, the destination for today was The Base camp, Lohajung. We left around 10 am and we had to cover more than 200km today, the maps estimated it was around 8 Hrs. drive but it took us almost 11 Hrs. to reach the base camp.
The road to Lohajung was not that straightforward as it’s a remote village and the road is also not well developed. Along with that we didn’t have a network and the forest was dense and we had to rely on offline maps. For the last 50 to 60 Km we had to travel in the dark and the roads were really bad. It was tiring but the amazing landscapes of the Himalayas and the beautiful sunset kept us going. We reached Trek the Himalayas base camp around 8 pm and the trek leader was there to welcome us and also sanitise us. The temperature was around 5 degrees and I was already in 4 layers and freezing.

Ours was the first batch after the lockdown and there were just 6 of us and the 2 trek leaders and some helpers for the entire trek. We got our rooms which were basic with just 4 walls and a mattress, later we realised that it is a luxury to get a bed and washroom at that altitude. We were welcomed with some spring rolls and hot chai followed by dinner. Post dinner we were given a summary of the plan for the next 3 days then we completed all the formalities and submitted the required forms and reports and went to sleep. We had to fill out a declaration form and also get one form filled out by a physician who needs to declare us fit for the trek. Read the disclaimer carefully, It’s scary!

12th December 2020, Trek Day 1 and we woke up between the great Himalayas to a heavenly sunrise. We woke up at 6 AM. It was really cold and that was the best view I had of my bed. We hadn’t seen the location as we had travelled in the dark and when we saw it in the morning we were stunned, I felt that the bad roads and no network is all for the good as it maintains the sanity and beauty of this place. The more it gets connected to the world, the more commercialised it will get.
We spent almost 2 hours doing a photoshoot, whereas we should have done some preparation and warm-up for the trek. We had to rent a couple of gears and also pack our offloading bags (bags which will be carried to the next base camp by mules, so you can just trek by yourself without carrying the heavy bag) and get ready by 9 AM, for which, we were of course late.

While we were having breakfast, we could sense the weather changing, the temperature was dipping and we could see the snow clouds moving towards us and it was the first snowfall of the winter and our excitement had no limit.
After breakfast, we ran to rent trek gear from the local store nearby. We rented Poncho, Gaiters, Trekkin g Pole, and Trekking fleece. The morning was full of a hassle as we had to pack the bags for 4 days and also pack the trekking gear and get ready by 9 AM. Our Trek leader started with the briefing and warned us to be on time as we cannot afford to be off the plane in the mountains.

Start of Trek Day 1, Mountains in the background covered with snow clouds
Six warriors and 2 trek leaders: nervous and unaware of what’s coming but ready for the adventure (as we only signed up for this ). 100M into the trail and the snowfall started, that was the first time I experienced a snowfall. Everyone was damn excited and everyone was screaming like babies and the ponchos were out. I didn’t plan my packing properly and had offloaded my poncho too. That was good learning as you should plan your packing properly, plan your layering for day/night/snowfall/rain and almost anything because as they say weather in mountains can change any moment.

We started with a brown trail and in 15-20 minutes it had turned into a white trail. The transition to the white trail was unreal and the snowfall was peaceful. I put my music on and I was just enjoying each step. I looked at my friend and we both had that relief in our eyes, all the efforts, all the planning and stress, everything felt less in front of this beauty. Everyone had prayed for a snow trek and the prayers worked out so much that we had to pray for the weather to clear up ASAP.

The snowfall hadn’t reached the mountains below yet. The first day was around 6 to 7 hours of trek and we were full of energy though our clothes were getting wet, some of the body parts were already frozen and the snowfall was increasing continuously. Our trek leaders were a little bit tense as it is not a good sign, if this goes on till the next day then Brahmatal lake will be covered with snow and the summit also cannot be done. Trek leaders were thinking of all the permutations and combinations of different trails we could follow and taking weather reports from the base camp.

I used to take small breaks while trekking and this gave me some time to enjoy the small flakes of snow falling on my face and also catch my breath. I could relate to the quote that the Journey is important and not the destination.

We looked really happy but honestly, we were wasted, we were walking for almost 6 hours and there were no signs of the campsite. The snowfall slightly became a pain in the ass and we couldn’t see a ray of sunlight the whole day. We climbed the last mountain and we could see the campsite beside a frozen lake and that was satisfying. The setup was unreal and felt like I was dreaming. Between some random forest in the Himalayas, a frozen lake , 4 tents one kitchen tent and complete silence.

Checked into our tents and there was snow all over our clothes, shoes, gloves and some forbidden places, which was making us very uncomfortable. We did our cool-down session and there was a small lecture on AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) and some knowledge about mountaineering. Trust me after the lecture you will feel like you have all the symptoms and you should return to the base camp but hold on to this thought, just sit and let it sink in, because this is what you came for and trust me, you’ll be fine in some time. After the lecture we had some snacks and tea and then at sunset we went to the Bekal Tal Lake which was around 500M away.

This Bekal Tal Lake for me was the best scene and it was no less than the scene from Game of Thrones. The temperature was dipping down more and it had crossed zero degrees, there were slight winds and we were standing beside the frozen lake and hearing the stories about the lake. Also, the trek leaders were sharing their experiences and stories about this trek. People get excited about ghost stories when they are on a trip, some locals and our trek Leader were sharing some stories about the Roopkund trek which has a similar lake and the stories are scary ( Roopkund lake is filled with skeletons of extraordinary sizes which didn’t look like a normal human beings’ skeleton).
Post that we walked back to our campsite in the dark and the temperature was below zero degrees. There was a shop beside the campsite and it was a permanent shop which was run by a girl and her younger brother. Their customers were trekkers like us and I have no idea how they sustain in those conditions and survive on those earnings. Their parents work in the base camp and these guys run a shop at around 9700 Ft. that too without basic amenities. At that point, I realised how blessed we are and how small our problems are. We are voluntarily putting ourselves in such harsh conditions for fun and in a couple of days we will be back to our urban life with all the luxuries and they are working high in the mountains to make their daily living.
Post dinner we had our oximeter checkup, at sea level our oximeter reading should be around 95 or more and at that altitude the air is thin and there the oxygen level is not the same in the air so the normal level there is around 80. Everyone’s reading was around 85 to 92, and then guess what was my reading? It was 78 the trek leader looked concerned and I am pretty sure they were not prepared for this. Asked me to have more water and keep them informed if I had some breathing problems.
Then post that we had some fireside chats and then moved to our respective tents and started the real test of our physical and mental stability. The tents were on snow, the temperature was minus and we were really tired and feeling a little bit feverish too. Also the oximeter reading was there in the back of my mind which was haunting. These thoughts were going on in my mind about going back from the first campsite and not continuing ahead but somehow the night passed.

13th December 2020, Trek day 2. I woke up at 6 AM with around 2 to 3 hours of proper sleep and the sunrise was expected around 8 AM but the sky was clear and it was the best news for us. We did our morning routines; also, the first experience of dry toilets was not bad and it was not a big problem as we had bigger problems because everything was frozen. Packing the sleeping bag and packing our bags again and clearing the tent was a big task in the morning as your full body is cold and your hands are not moving and you are shivering and you have to get things done. We got our gaiters and mini spikes to walk on snow, we put them on and were ready for day 2. This was also going to be a long day as we had to trek for 6 to 7 hours, we had packed our lunches. 2 Hours to Jhandi top which was the first point where we could see Mount Trishul very closely and then from there it was 3 to 4 hours trek to Brahmatal Lake .
Once we reached Jhandi top I felt like my body was giving up slightly, the sun was out. I was in one layer but still felt my body was cold. My body felt fatigued as I couldn’t have good sleep and was having breathing issues and stamina issues while ascending. Somehow, I kept myself going and reached the Lunch point and my body severely needed rest. The photo below was the location where we stopped for lunch. I had no plans to eat so I just covered my face with a cap and rested. That was the best power nap I had as the sun was out after almost two days and the temperature was also pleasant and it was really necessary for me. After the nap, I had snacks, protein bars and dry fruits and my lunch was done.

I put my music on and I just enjoyed the location and grasped it all in. I realised that trekking is a bit like life, the journey only requires you to put one foot in front of the other … again and again and again. And if you allow yourself the opportunity to be present throughout the entirety of the trek, you will witness beauty every step of the way, and not just at the summit.
This was also a moment of gratitude where I was just thankful that I could witness this. We should be thankful for what we have; we will end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.
The power nap was really helpful and it gave me the strength to reach the next campsite which was a 2 hour trek from there. Slowly and steadily, we went ahead and as it is said the best view comes after the hardest climb, the second campsite was indeed the best.

We could see the Summit peak from our campsite and also there was no shop like the previous campsite which means no fire for rescue. We requested the trek leaders for a bonfire but it was not allowed by the forest authorities so we had no option left but to bear the cold and survive. The campsite was set up below the Summit mountain and it was 500m away from the Brahmatal Lake . It was an open area so the wind was strong and the temperature was around -5 degrees and the predicted temperature at night was around -10 degrees. Getting out of the tent and going to the kitchen and dining area was also very difficult. Our socks were wet due to the snow and our shoes were also frozen, I couldn’t feel my feet for like two straight days.

The tent had two areas, one where we used to sleep and the outer area to keep our shoes and trekking pole. We were given a sleeping fleece and a sleeping bag to sleep in the tent and there were two people in each tent. The first night we had gotten the orange campsite and it was a little bit small for two so we took the blue tent which was bigger and had a good balcony too.

The food from Trek the Himalayas was amazing, we used to get soup, Maggi chai and also in the second campsite we got Jalebi. After the sunset, we were having Maggi and chai in the dining area and everyone was shivering. The sky was clear as it was the meteor shower night and the temperature was dipping due to cold winds and it reached -10 degrees. Everyone had the same question: how will we survive this night? We had planned this trek for the meteor shower which was going to start around 11 PM and the peak of the meteor shower was around 3 AM. We finished the dinner by 8 PM and somehow went back to our camps to sleep early as we had to wake up at midnight, my campmate was feeling a little bit feverish and honestly, I too was not understanding what my body was going through as it was the extreme conditions. We decided to wake up around 2.30 AM and experience the Geminids meteor shower from the best place possible.

At 2.30 AM I somehow gathered the motivation and energy to come out of the warm sleeping bag and go out of the tent where the wind was strong and it was freezing but that is what I had to go through to witness the meteor shower. It was majestic and heavenly outside. I was speechless as there were millions of stars and every 5 to 10 sec, we could see a shooting star. We got whatever we asked for and we were more than content, all the hard work and stress and planning and efforts were worth it at that moment. That is me standing in the above picture with a torch in hand, the struggle was real to capture this as I had to walk 500m away from the campsite and stand there for 15 sec so that the DSLR camera could capture the beauty. I could see there were some footmarks of some animal and it was pin-drop silence out there. The Photographers kept their cameras out of the tent and we went back to sleep for 3-4 hours.

14th December 2020, Summit Day, Trek Day 3.
Again, we woke up around 6 AM and the plan was to do Summit in the morning and then start our descent towards the base camp and take a halt in another campsite which will be around 2 hours far from the base camp. Everyone was freezing and some of them in our group was feeling sick too so one of the brilliant minds in our group came up with a plan that if the basecamp is just 2 hours away from the last campsite then why can’t we directly descent to the base camp after the summit and skip one night in the campsite.
We confirmed this plan with our trek leaders and they were kind enough to consider the plan although they warned us that it’s gonna be a long day but can be done. So, the plan was now to Summit and then we will directly descend to basecamp on the same day. This was the advantage of trekking in small groups.

At 9 AM, we started the trek and it was again going to be a long day with 8 to 9 hours of trekking but we were determined to not think about it and just enjoy the last day in Heaven. We packed our bags, visited the Brahmatal lake and then started our Summit Day trek. We could see the summit from our campsite and it seemed to just rise high as we went closer to it. After almost 2 hours of ascent, we reached the summit which was around 12,000 Ft. We were closest to the great Mount Trishul and Nanda Ghunti and it was just magnificent. That was the highest altitude I have been in till now and was a proud moment for me. At that moment everything around me was calm and stable and it brought me calmness and satisfaction to myself.

Oh, how can I put into words, the scenes that delight the eyes, the blessed peace of mind, the sheer exuberance which fills your soul and the list goes on? As we were a small batch and the first batch after the lockdown there was no one out there. The silent forest, the calmness of mountains and the exhilaration of the summits is something which will stay with us forever. The plan was to spend around 15 Minutes on the Summit and then leave as we had to reach the base camp the same day. We spent more than 1 Hour clicking pictures and creating life memories and we still didn’t want to leave that place.

The two trek leaders from the Trek the Himalayas group and they were the sweetest trek leaders. Meenakshi was leading the group from the front and Aditya was there at the end making sure everyone was on track and doing fine. I was the last one trekking due to my extraordinary fitness and also I was enjoying the journey way too much. I bonded well with Aditya and the best thing about them is they don’t push you hard, they let you enjoy the scene to the fullest and click pictures and take videos as that is what we came for. They were always accommodating and welcoming about our problems and dynamic plans (which we were good at due to apparent situations ).

Everyone clicked their Summit photos and group photos as this would be cherished for a lifetime. I sat there for around 10 minutes and grasped all that was possible mentally and thanked god, thanked god for creating this and also that I was able to witness this. It was not an easy journey and that is the only reason why it was extra special. We had to start our descent and the destination was basecamp. Our bodies felt fresh and energised and all the problems vanished. We realised the real limits of our bodies when pushed hard. Two Nights in Mountains just made us stronger for life and prouder too. It gave us the confidence to survive anywhere and made us physically and mentally fit. Around 1 PM we started the descent. The previous trails were all covered with snow so we had to mark our trail and go ahead. The first stop was Jhandi Top than the other campsite where we were supposed to stay but we skipped that and went straight to basecamp. We reached base camp around 6.30 PM and it was dark by the time we reached, but we spent some extra time witnessing the beautiful sunset.

The last sunset we witnessed at Lohajung marked the end of our beautiful Himalayan journey — The Brahmatal (Snow) Trek! My friend and I couldn’t believe that it ended and now we had to go back to civilization. Due to all the stress before the trek and the freezing nights in tents we questioned ourselves why we came for this trek, all our friends questioned why to put so much effort and who tires themselves out on a vacation, but at that moment we had answers to all those questions and hopefully, I was able to explain it in this blog.

The happiness on our faces explains everything. It was a very proud moment that we summited our first Himalayan trek without any complications, also we completed a 4 days trek in 3 days.

As I said at the start I took you to the beautiful Himalayas at 12000 feet height and got you back safely (Please check yourself for any symptoms of AMS). And If you felt my journey through this blog, please like the post, drop a comment and share it (It will probably inspire me to book another deadly trek). Thanks for your time and adios.

Himalayan Hikers worry more about you that no one should ever have any problem in the trek.
What should we and you keep more safety in the trek
- Whenever you are going for any trek, it is very important that you go completely fit and ready.
- The trek is not difficult, if you make your feet and your mind calm and strong, you will find the trek very easy.
- While trekking, keep in mind that you are walking on the right route or not always with your guide.
- Most people look somewhere and where they are walking, this can cause twitching in your legs, which can ruin your entire trek.
- It is important to ask your doctor if you have any medical problems
- I should always keep my medical kit with me, it is very important.
- Himalayan Hikers always keep a medical kit with them, such as oxygen cylinders, and medicine to be given in an emergency on the trek
- If any trekkers have any more problems, then they are brought back to the base camp by laying them in the stretcher.
- Our camp in Brahmatal trek is around the tree line where you can not have any problem of oxygen
- In case of any medical problem, the help of your guide or well-informed trekkers should be taken

We just completed the Brahmatal trek. It was amazing and HH was extremely professional. Our trek leader Amit Rawat was attentive, caring, observant yet disciplined. Each camp site was chosen with care. We were a group of 10 of varying ages & capabilities. Not all of us were well st start of the trek either but thanks to the amazing team we managed to complete the trek. Hats off to their patience, caring attitude & professionalism. Though ours was an autumn trek, it turned into a winter one after 4hrs of hailstorm, blizzard at Tilandi top. We were served hot food on most days and their food is really good. The quality of equipment- tent & sleeping bags were also decent compared to other trek companies. I would definitely go with HH again.

ABOUT THE TREK
Brief description.
Spanning over 28 km, the Brahmatal trek begins from the base village of Lohajung located in the Chamoli district in Garhwal Himalayas. The 6 km trek from Lohajung to the Gujreni campsite runs through dense forests of Conifer, Cedar, Oak and Fir. The Gujreni campsite is at the heart of a beautiful clearing surrounded by Oak and Rhododendrons with panoramic views of snow-capped ranges.
The peak view from the route is captivating, from east to west you can see the High Himalayan ranges. On the right towards eastward direction you can see Mrigthuni, Devtoli and Maikoti peak of Kumaon. Straight to your north Trisul massif and gigantic Nanda Ghunti are breathtaking. Bethartoli Himal and Nandaghunti. On the left westward side we can see the massive Chaukhamba, Neelkanth, Kamet, Hathi and Ghoda peaks. This is just the opposite ridge of the famous Roopkund trek and offers a Birds-eye view of the route including Ali Bugyal, Bedni Bugyal, Roopkund and Junargali including far poised famous Ronty saddle.
The best season to explore this trail is either winter or in the springs. During winter weather normally remains clear and panoramic beauty of the surrounding is unmatched. Adequate amount of snow is another reason that this is getting popular in recent years. In Spring the trail is bountiful with Rhododendron blossoms while the last patches of snow start melting. For you who want a longer duration camping trek may combine Ali Bugyal and Bedni Bugyal trek to complete a circuit around Lohajung.
Finally, it would be an unjust, if we don’t mention about our trek base Lohajung here. This small business town at an altitude of ~ 2320 m/7600 ft, comprises a one strip bazaar, few basic restaurants to eat and handful of lodges. However the views of Nanda Ghunti mountain and sunset on the southern valley side are just enough to start the beginning.
In winter ‘December to march’ on Brahmatal trek you not only trek to an alpine lake but also get to camp near lake. The lake water is crystal clear and a lone tree stands on the far bank. The lake got frozen in peak winter duration. The sunset from brahmatal campsite are Breathtaking and magical, everyday you will see different kind of colour contrasts in the sky and meadows. All these kind of experience make the trek life long memorable.
Lower down In your first campsite you will see Bekaltal lake, bekaltal lake is covered by dense forest of oak and rhododendron. Bekaltal lake is larger than brahmatal lake. The seductive folklore of the lake dates back many centuries,
Interesting Fact
The Brahmatal trek takes one through beautiful valleys, hushed hamlets, streams, and conifers, and oak forests. In winter, the region is covered in a sheath of snow and offered an unparalleled Himalayan view.

The cost of offloading on the Brahmatal trek is Rs 1,200 per bag ( 60L) for the trek.

At the higher camp, temperatures could fall below -7 or -8 °C in the night. As long as you are inside your tent and in your layers, it is absolutely fine.
On your early morning summit climb, expect to start in temperatures well below zero. The day will get progressively warmer as the sun touches the ground, even though you may be on snow. Be prepared to shed off your layers as you climb.
(Mid September — Mid October). Autumn is generally like Spring, but a few degrees colder. Nights can be nippy at slightly below zero at the highest camp. As you move towards late November, it is perceptibly colder. Higher camps are 2-3 degrees below zero. Though, at the lower camps the temperature will hang slightly above zero.
While trekking in autumn, day temperatures are pleasant at around 13 – 18 °C, but any rain or slight drizzle brings down temperature rapidly to around 8 – 12 °C. You need to keep a pullover handy with you always.
(Mid March — Mid April): The winter is receding but hasn’t totally left yet. The snow is still in patches on the ground. On the upper slopes, especially above 10,000 feet it is still snow bound.
Expect cold nights at your higher camp . Temperature during the night can drop to around zero but generally will over around 1-5 °C.
The day temperatures are usually very pleasant on the trek at an average of 15 – 20 °C. If the sun goes behind the clouds and there is a bout of rain, then the temperature can fall to around 10 degrees.
When most treks in the Himalayas shut during peak winters – January and February, Brahmatal stays accessible. It remains open from December to February and then into spring. And that’s a treat because winter snow is heavenly on Brahmatal trek. Although it makes the trek a notch more difficult. But the experience is still worth it.
In winters, oak and rhododendron trees stoop under the weight of the snow lending a Narnia-like vibe to the trek. And this happens as soon as you set off from Lohajung.
Apart from the snow, the sight of the frozen Bekaltal lake is mesmerizing. Standing by it gives the impression of being frozen in time. But be careful about stepping on this frozen lake. Depending on the month, the ice may or may not be hard enough to support your weight.

Things To Carry
Fitness level required.
Although Brahmatal is an easy trek, you will need good lung capacity and leg strength to reach the summit safely and back. If you are struggling most of the time, you won't be able to enjoy the trek. With the end goal being enjoying the trek thoroughly and not just completing it, the following is the fitness level we recommend. Practice jogging/running four to five days a week and see if you can cover 5 km in 30-40 minutes. In addition to this, you can also add some resistance workouts for legs (like squats and lunges) and core workouts into your training schedule. If you are completely new to the world of trekking and are unsure of your fitness levels, we recommend starting with a level 2 trek from our portfolio. Treks like the Beas Kund or Bhrigu valley, which are of lower altitude and lesser duration, are excellent choices. These will give you an idea of the terrain you are likely to encounter at Brahmatal while equipping you with the knowledge of layering on Himalayan Treks, the kind of gear you will need, fitness levels required, etc.
These points should not be avoided
- Temperature and climatic conditions vary significantly vis-à-vis those in the plains. Ample time must be given to acclimatization.
- The trek may turn out to be very hard for first timers. So, heed to the instructions given by the trek leader.
- Carry a basic medical & first-aid kit.
- Phones don’t work
- Avoid the consumption of alcohol or any other intoxicants during the trek.
- The valley and places enroute are prone to being spoilt by littering. Do Not Litter!
Do’s and Don’ts:
- We believe in leaving the mountains in a better condition, which is why we follow a no-litter policy on our treks. Each trekker will have to bring back the waste that is created during the trek.
- Trekking is best enjoyed when you’ve worn comfortable clothes. Try and avoid wearing Jeans, bright colours and heavy apparels as much as possible.
- A lighter backpack always helps you have a better trek, try and carry just as much as needed.
- Always be in sight of your trek lead, if you feel the need to stop for any reason at all, please keep the trek lead informed.
- If you do come across any reptiles, animals or even insects during the trek, please keep your calm and let it patiently pass by. Any kind of noise and panic will scare them as well.
- Do not venture out into the forest/waterfalls on your own as it may be dangerous.
- Trekking is a good adventure, having said that, it is our primary responsibility to take good care of ourselves and be compassionate towards fellow trekkers
- If, at any point, during the trek, you feel uneasy or unwell, please inform the trek lead immediately
- Tune in to the sounds of nature while on a trek and avoid carrying speakers or playing music during the course of the trek
- To help you enjoy the trek to the fullest, we avoid smoking and consumption of alcohol, and other intoxicants during the course of the trek

Resting in the depths of the Uttarakhand Himalayas, the Brahmatal trek treats you to soaring views of some lofty mountain peaks such as Mt. Trishul, Mt Nanda Ghunti and Mt. Khamet. At an altitude of 3800 m, the Brahmatal trek is open throughout the winters when most of the other trekking routes are closed making it a perfect winter trek for beginners.
Brahmatal hosts one of the loveliest forest walks that are home to diverse bird species and century old oak trees. During spring, the trails of these forests are carpeted in the red and pink blooms of rhododendrons. In winters, the landscape transforms dramatically sheathing the region in pristine white snow, making it nothing short of a Winter wonderland.
Long, never-ending ridgelines, expansive meadows, and 360-degree views of colossal peaks from the summit are some of the other attractions of the Brahmatal Trek. Read more about the Highlights of the Trek here .
The next day, the trek gradient increases gradually. A 2-hour trek will lead you to the Bekaltal lake, frozen during the winter months, making up for a tranquil view.
The trail heading out of the lake continues to remain dominated by Oak and Rhododendron forests. You start catching glimpses of Mt Trishul through the woods from here on. The forest soon opens up to an expansive meadow, Talindi Top, that rewards you with spectacular views of Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nanda Ghunti amongst others. The ascent continues beyond this point until you reach Jhandi Top which surpasses the views offered by Talindi Top. It is a 1.5 km descent from here onwards to the Brahmatal campsite. The campsite is delightfully set at one end of a ridge, opening up to a stunning view of the blue silhouette of mountain ranges stacked layer after layer at the horizon. The Brahmatal lake is only 500 M from the campsite. According to legend, the lake is believed to be the place where Lord Brahma meditated ages ago.
The trek to the summit begins the next day and is nothing short of thrilling. The trail climbs through moderately inclined dense forests eventually translating into a ridge stretch that opens up to gaping views of the tremendous valley behind. The summit offers awe-inspiring vistas of some well-known Himalayan ranges like Mount Trishul, sacred Mount Nanda Ghunti, Mount Chaukhamba, Mount Neelkanth, Mount Kamet and Mount Hathi Ghoda.
While the trail is relatively easy to navigate, the ascent to Brahmatal Top can be challenging during heavy snowfall season. The snow, during these times can run knee deep requiring some effort during ascent and descent. Read more about the challenges of the Brahmatal Trek along with the gear and skills needed to complete the trek here .

Brief Itinerary
Arrive at Lohajung (2331 M)
Distance: 294 kms (Dehradun to Lohajung)
Duration: 11-12 hours.
We begin our journey to Lohajung from ISBT Dehradun latest by 7 AM. It is located at a distance of 294 km from Dehradun and would take about 11-12 hours to cover. The landscapes throughout this drive are striking.
The journey begins with a drive uphill that will take you through the Kumaon region into the Himalayan Belt of Garhwal. The roads here are extensive and the Shivalik ranges can be spotted at the horizon. The setting is tranquil and the Ganga river accompanies you swiftly throughout this stretch.
It gets exciting after this. We will be passing through three of the five iconic confluences of the Alaknanda river (Devprayag, Rudraprayag and Karnaprayag) on the way to Lohajung.
A beautiful showcase of tradition, Devprayag, is the first confluence we will be passing by. It is the converging point of the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers. You can clearly see the turquoise of one merging with the teal of the other in the valley below.
40 kms from this point, we reach the historic town of Srinagar on the banks of Alaknanda. The Rudraprayag lies further ahead from here. It is the confluence of the Mandakini and Alaknanda rivers.
About 33 km from Rudraprayag is the third confluence of Karnapraya, the meeting point of the Alaknanda and the Pindari River. Each confluence is unique in its setting and is a delight to behold!
Lohajung, located in the Chamoli district of the Garhwal Himalayas, is 86 km from Karnaprayag. Expect to reach Lohajung by late evening around 8-9pm.
Lohajung (2331 M) to Gujreni/Lower Bekaltal (2750 M)
Distance: 6 kms
Duration: 4-5 hours.
We begin from Lohajung at 9 AM. Packed lunches will be provided for the day. The trek starts on a well-paved stone trail that heads into the forest. The Nanda Ghunti Peak can be spotted right from the beginning of the trek.
After a short walk through the woods, you will come across Mandoli village tucked in to the colossal mountain ranges on your left. The trail ascends gradually in long, serpentine curves from here. Higher up, you will be able to spot the Kali Valley which is the confluence of the Kali and Pindari rivers.
Beyond this point, the trail mostly runs through dense forests of conifer, Cedar, Oak and Fir allowing little sunlight in. There are also Rhododendrons in this region. They bloom during late winter and early spring season and cover the trail in pretty colors of orange and red. During the winter months, these paths are covered with pristine white snow and no flower blossoms.
The next landmark from here is a 10 m wooden bridge running over a stream where you can refill your bottles. Crossing the bridge, you will reach Begum that makes for an excellent resting point overlooking the expansive Navali and Bagdi Bugyals.
At a 20 minute hike from here, you will come across two streams. The second stream which is the Gujreni stream will eventually lead you to a beautiful clearing set in the backdrop of lush forests. This is the campsite for the day.
This region carries a woody scent and is surrounded by umber-brown Oak and Rhododendron forests. After setting up the camps, try spotting some of the birds around like Himalayan Woodpecker, Asian Barred Owlet and Blue-fronted Redstart amongst others. You will encounter snow from late December till Early March at this campsite dropping the temperature considerably.
Rejoice in the seclusion and silence of the campsite for it offers an opportunity to look inwards as much as outwards.
Trek from Gujreni/Lower Bekaltal (2750 m) to Brahmatal (3400 M)
Distance: 5 kms
The trail from the Gujreni Campsite enters a thicket of forests with a moderate ascent throughout. You will catch the first glimpse of Mt. Trishul through the towering trees here. At a 2 hour hike away, lays the Bekaltal lake lined with Oak trees all around.
The color of the water is mud-brown indicating a high amount of dissolved organic matter. During the peak winter months, the lake is likely to be frozen. You can spend some time here immersing in the profound silence of this setting.
The trail dives straight into dense Oak and Rhododendron forests with a steep incline for the next hour. As you walk higher, you will see an idyllic view of the Bekaltal Lake retreating slowly below. The canopy of the forests is almost impenetrable, keeping most of the sunlight out. This allows patches of snow to sustain on the trails even in early spring season.
After an hour or so, the forest opens up to a spectacular meadow, called Talindi Top which offers some phenomenal views of Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nanda Ghunti. 1 km from here is the Jhandi top that sets a stunning vantage point surpassing the views offered earlier at Talindi Top. With the skies wide open and several layers of jewel-blue mountains decked one over the other, the spectacle is absolutely surreal to behold.
Jhandi Top marks the highest point on the ridge. The trail begins to descend beyond this point. The Brahmatal campsite is only 1.5 km of a downhill trek on the ridge from here.
After you reach the campsite, you can visit the Brahmatal Lake which is only 500m from the campsite. The Brahmatal lake is believed to be the place where Lord Brahma meditated long ago. This lake is completely frozen during winter season and is a marvel to behold.
One can go out and explore the beautiful photography options available at this place. Be prepared for subzero temperatures that could fall even below -7 degree Celsius during peak winter nights.
Brahmatal (3400 M) to Brahmatal Top (3846 M) to Brahmatal
Duration: 4 hours
The trek starts early around 6AM after having a light breakfast at the campsite. This day of the trek is the most fascinating visually and the terrain is relatively easy to negotiate. There is also the added advantage of leaving the backpacks behind at the campsite since we will be returning here for the night.
During the winter season, your trek leader will provide you with microspikes and gaiters depending upon the snow conditions.
20 minutes into the trek, you will come across the Brahmatal lake tucked into the middle of a lush clearing. The trail till the Brahmatal lake is a steep incline climbing steadily through open grasslands. In the winter season, this area is usually covered in a sheath of white snow making it no less than a Winter Wonderland while the lake glistens under the morning sunshine.
Beyond the lake, the trail ascends moderately and envelopes into a ridge. You will notice the Brahmatal lake retiring in the valley below as you steadily gain altitude. The first ridge is a stretch of gentle ascent that leads you to the final ridge climb.
The final ridge eventually opens up tp a breath-taking spectacle of snow-capped mountain ranges standing so close to you that you feel like you are watching them on a theatre screen. Try spotting Mt. Trishul, Mt. Nanda Ghunti, Mt. Chaukhamba, Mt. Neelkanth, Mt. Kamet and Mt. Hathi Ghoda amongst the ranges.
Although Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nanda Ghunti accompany you throughout the trek, the close-up view from the summit is still thrilling to behold. Spend some time at the top immersing in the experience before heading back to the campsite.
Brahmatal (3400 M) to Lohajung (2331 M)
Distance: 11 kms
Duration: 7-8 hours.
After having a scrumptious breakfast, we begin the descent back to Lohajung at 8 AM following the same route as the ascent. Be prepared for a long day of trekking.
The trail runs through thick Oak and Rhododendron forests. Eventually, you will come across little Shepherds huts which the locals use to keep their livestock. Following the man-made stone trail beyond that point, you will be descending to the mountain villages leading to Lohajung.
Expect to reach Lohajung in about 7-8 hours. You can then explore the slow and peaceful life at the village and learn about the various legends around the area. Do not miss the sunset in the evening. The orange rays brushing the Mt. Nanda Ghunti peak gently is lovely to watch. This is followed by a piping hot dinner at the guest house.
Departure from Lohajung (2331 M)
Distance: 294 kms
Duration: 11-12 hours.
After breakfast, we will be starting for Dehradun at 9AM. The journey will once again take you through the three confluences of Karnaprayag, Rudraprayag and Devprayag. Expect to reach ISBT Dehradun by 8PM.
In case, you plan on traveling back to Delhi the same night, consider booking a bus that starts at around 11-12 PM to account for any delays we might encounter on the way.

Our batch sizes are capped at 15 for smaller treks with the trek leader and trekker ratio of 1:8. This ratio, in our years of experience, has proven to deliver the best trekking experience for individuals as well as groups. Capping the size of the group ensures individual attention to each trekker so that no signs of distress or need during the trek go unnoticed. It also helps to form a more cohesive cohort with better group energy which helps define the rhythm and pace of days on the trek. As you go higher up on the BRS scale, since the stakes are higher, expeditions have an even smaller group size with the ratio of expedition leader to climber set at 1:2.

We follow a rigorous regime of hiring and training our experts in the field. Each trek leader is a certified mountaineer with years of experience in the field. In addition to their qualification, they also go through practical and situational training to tackle any and all kinds of sudden conditions that may present themselves on the ground. Being unpredictable is the core nature of the mountains but being ready for any circumstance as best as possible is a controllable asset that we try to nurture. Our field experts are also trained in basic medicine and first-aid response. Watch: Forerunners - The Making of A Trek Leader At Bikat Adventures

Brahmatal Trek
The Only Winter Trek That Goes To An Alpine Lake

TREK DIFFICULTY
Easy Moderate

TREK DURATION

HIGHEST ALTITUDE

8 to 62 years
One of the highlights of a Himalayan trek is witnessing an alpine lake. Unfortunately, snow accumulation makes most alpine lakes inaccessible in the winter.
Yet, on the Brahmatal trek in winter, you not only trek to an alpine lake but also get to camp near it. The Brahmatal trek is exceptional because of this.
Standing next to Brahmatal's frozen waters, you are at a height of roughly 12,000 feet. The views are breathtaking. The lake is in a crater; the water is crystal clear; there is a shrine beside it, and a lone tree stands on the far bank. Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nanda Ghunti, two of our nation's most stunning mountains, are visible behind the ridge that surrounds the lake.
We camp just beyond the lake if the snow is manageable. The experience of camping in such a setting is in itself an experience.

Did you know that Lohajung, the basecamp of Brahmatal, is the birthplace of Indiahikes? Click to watch the whole story.
While all the attention is on Brahmatal, let’s not forget Bekaltal, another lake we love. Lower down, Bekaltal is another breathtaking sight encircled by thick forests. The seductive folklore of the lake dates back many centuries.
This trek includes one of our best-forested walks. If there is a layer of snow on top, it gets even better. The forests are beautiful but not completely engulfed. Through the trees, you can see a long way away, giving you a sense of openness.
On this trek, each campsite is distinctive. Keep an eye out for our camp in Gujreni. It is a lovely hideout tucked away in a clearing. Also excellent are the campsites at Tilandi and Brahmatal.
The trekkers' favourite is Tilandi. The sunset from Tilandi, especially on Mt. Trishul, is unforgettable. Trekkers love the open high ground of Tilandi as well. The views from Tilandi are so grand that trekkers want to spend more than a day there.
Brahmatal is a relatively new trek in India. Nevertheless, it has rapidly grown in popularity. There's a good reason for this: the trek has almost perfect conditions for a winter snow trek.
Make the trek in January, February, and March to avoid the crowds. The snow is deeper than in December, minus the crowd on the trail.

1 . The Rhododendron forest from Lohajung to Bekaltal
Brahmatal has mesmerising forest walks. You get to walk through the centuries-old forests of Oaks and Rhododendrons. What particularly stays with me is the dedicated section on Rhododendrons ! Just out of Bekaltal, you get a demarcated section of Rhododendron forests.
The Rhodo forests are a treat to the eyes. The trunks twist and turn in shapes and forms. The trunks are usually bare and smooth wooded. The trees are not too tall and form a nice canopy at the top. They are close enough to form a perfect green roof over your head.
This is what you see throughout the year. If you come here during March and April, you get a pink flowery roof . If you come here during winters, you get a white snowy carpet

2 . The ridge meadow walk from Tilandi to Jhandi Top
On the second day, you climb out of Bekaltal trekking up through some of the most beautiful rhododendron and oak forests. As you near the top, you are curious and impatient to see what lies outside the tree line.
You enter the meadow on the mountain top and in front of you is a wall of white mountains. Having climbed all the way up to the ridge (which runs parallel to Ali Bugyal of the Roopkund trek), you see grand views of the Trishul range.
You know you are climbing to the top but the enormity of the mountain ranges so up close is something very special to Brahmatal.
Starting there, all the way to Jhandi top is one of the best ridges walks you will do in our mountains. On one side you have the mighty Trishul range fanning out and on the other side opens up to layers and layers of mountain ranges arranging themselves in height order going down all the way to Deval and Tharali.
These are the villages that you drove through to reach the base camp. To your right below the Trishul, the range spreads out the entire Roopkund trek . Every landmark, every campsite, and every climb on the Roopkund trek is seen from the Brahmatal ridge. I have never stood on one trek and gone through another trek, that too perhaps the most iconic trek in its entirety like this.

3 . The Gujreni Campsite
The Gujreni campsite enclosed by forest but in grassy clearings, with commanding views of mountain tops, I think I could fall in love with these camps.
They are secluded, with plenty of space to stretch your legs, walkabout, or take a peek in the forests, yet, you can just sit in one corner taking in the views. I have done lots of treks and have loved lots of camps, but if you ask me about Brahmatal, then I think it has some of the better campsites.

Trek Trivia
Things Nobody Tells You About Brahmatal
The Arrowheads of Bekal Tal

In the neighbouring areas of Bekal Tal, people can be seen wearing or carrying arrowheads. These are used as lockets, some are displayed in homes, and some are attached to peoples’ walking sticks among other such ornamentations. These arrowheads have a couple of stories behind them.
Uttarakhand is known as dev bhumi (divine or holy land) as Mahabharat is said to have taken place in parts of it. It is said that the arrowheads are from the days of the grand epic when they were used in battles. These arrowheads can be found stuck on trees in the forests as well today too. However, most of them have been removed and are being used by the locals.
There's also another story related to Lord Curzon linked to the arrowheads. It's often hard to verify what is fact and what isn't, but they're good stories to listen to. Make sure you ask your guide or the locals about it.
Tale of the Bekal Naag Devta and the Pundit

There are stories of a local pundit who would come to pray to this Naag Devta regularly. Pleased with his steady devotion and service, the God once invited him down to his golden temple at the depths of the lake. The pundit is said to have seen a stunning sight. That of an underwater city of snakes, with the Naag Devta presiding over them in his temple.
The story takes a sad turn when the pundit defies the snake god. However, the myth brings forth interesting elements in the region. Not only is the Bekal Tal a sight of this myth, but the Ratgaon water source appears like the meandering body of a snake, as seen from Tilandi. Mythology tells us that Bekal Naag Devta left the lake through that route, leaving the Ratgaon water body in this snake-like figure.
Even the water from Bekal Tal is said to have seeped down along with him and appeared in the Ratgaon source.

Spanning over 28 km, the Brahmatal trek begins from the base village of Lohajung located in the Chamoli district in Garhwal Himalayas. The 6 km trek from Lohajung to the Bekaltal campsite runs through dense forests of Conifer, Cedar, Oak and Fir. The Bekaltal campsite is at the heart of a beautiful clearing surrounded by Oak and Rhododendrons with panoramic views of snow-capped ranges.
Another 2-hour trek will lead you to the Bekaltal lake, frozen during the winter months, making up for a tranquil view.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1:- Arrive at Lohajung (2331 m) (294 Kms)
- Distance covered: 294 km from Rishikesh to Lohajung
- Duration: 11-12 hours to reach Lohajung
- We will see you the first day at Rishikesh railway station. The pickup place is Rishikesh bus station early in the morning. An overnight train travel from Delhi could be sufficiently convenient.
- The journey uphill from Rishikesh to Lohajung will take you cruising through mountain alleyways connecting the lower Himalayan belt of Kumaom hills to that of Garhwal. This is going to be a hectic 10 hour drive, despite the marvellous changing vistas of the mountains. For the first few hours, the course of our journey will be running parallel to river Ganga and Alaknanda flowing blustery. Soon, a softy Pindar river will meet our path.
- Look out for a few of the best known tourist hubs nestling in Uttarakhand’s sublime hills. We will pass through Devprayag, Srinagar, and Karanprayag—all celebrated hill stations. Upon entering the last stretch of the drive, near Lohajung, the mesmerizing Nanda Ghunti peak will come to sight. We will reach Lohajung guest house, our halt for the night around 5:00 pm, close to dusk and just in time for tea!
- Note: If you are not carrying something of winter clothing or basic gear, the Lohajung market can come in pretty handy.
Day 2:- Lohajung to Bekaltal (06 Kms)
- The first day’s trek spanning 5 hours will kick off from Lohajung up a snaky trail going into the forest. After a short while the forest will give way to a small village named Mandoli to your left. Here you can fill your bottles and take a first major hiatus. The trail continues in mostly gradual ascent curves. A little way higher, you will come across the valley where two mountain rivers Kali and Pindari confluence. This is the Kali valley, lying in a splendid green scrap even in the midst of wintry heights. We will trek on further to stumble upon a huddle of mud huts. You are going to find a grove of rhododendron here that sure grows red and heavy from February to March, but at the peak of winter, the trail will be pretty matte.
- Crossing this point, trek on to find the next identifiable landmark—a wooden bridge over a stream. This steam is a viable water point which you can access going down the slope. Crossing over on to the other side, you will reach Begum — a nestling rest point on the slopes overlooking a vast expanse of bugyals at distance. From here, the path bends on to two more chattering streams, the last being Gujrani stream. Take approximately an hour’s hike after crossing the last stream to reach the beautiful Bekaltal gleaming peacefully in the summer while partially frozen over in the winters.
- We will be camping in the vicinity by the lake Khopdaliya. Enjoy the stillness and the quiet of this place with the thick oak forests closing in from around.
Day 3:- Bekaltal to Brahmatal (08 Kms)
- Today’s trek will take you through thickets of oaks and rhododendrons over steep slopes for quite some time before finally coming out to a meadow. This is the meadow of Telandi. In the winter, you will find the green expanse of Telandi transform into a vast snowfield and crossing the area, a gala of thrill.
- The meadow rolls till 11,500 ft.- the highest point, from where begins a slow descent to Brahmatal. To your left from here, you will find a small temple, bright yellow flags flying in the air. Walk down the slope to the temple and find the trail winding towards the Brahmatal Lake, about 500 meters away from the temple now. We will find the valleys of Almora and Nainital rise and fall around us as we go. The soaring peaks of Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, and others of the Greater Himalayas can be spotted far across the sky. We will be camping at the mark 500 meter away from the lake, nestling in the beautiful aura of the place.
- Note: Make sure to carry 2-3 litres of water on today’s trek since there are no water points on this trail.
Day 4: Brahmatal to Brahmatal Top & back to Lohajung( 10 kms/ 9hrs)
- Right after breakfast, get ready to climb to the top of Brahmatal.
- Tread along the tricky pathways which go through Chota Jhandidar and Bada Jhandidar.
- This trail is encircled by a mountain ridge with valleys on both sides.
- It will take 3 hours to reach Brahmatal Top.
- On this journey, revel in the glimpses of magnificent Himalayan Ranges. Mt. Trishul is very close along with the views of Nandhaghunti.
- From the top, you can revel in the exotic views of snow covered Himalayan Ranges.
- After summit session you will trail back to Lohajung directly via jhandidhar & Daldum.
- Once you reach here, check-in to your guest house and take a rest.

Brahmatal Trek - A Classic Winter Trek
Brahmatal Trek is a classic winter trek. The summit unveils a heavenly facet when the snow gently falls on its slopes; most of the Brahmatal trek is on the snow, which makes it exciting. Apart from the uneven terrain, the trek is filled with beautiful landscapes, sprawling forests, mighty Garhwal mountains stretch across the turquoise skies and everywhere around you will be the white undulating snowfields. Once you cross the shadows of the trees, the full grandeur of the Himalayas hit you. Never-ending ridgelines, sprawling Bugiyals, High altitude lakes, snow on the trail and majestic peak views make it a compelling proposition for a winter trek. Brahmatal is a hidden and secluded lake amidst the ridge, where Lord Brahma meditated according to the mythology. The frozen blue lake with the mighty snow-capped Himalayan peaks overlooking it creates a mesmerizing and an unmatched experience.

You can witness the red, white and pink rhododendron which will be a treat to the eyes.
Brahmatal trek height or elevation is encircled around 12,600 feet. It incorporates a total distance of approximately 24 kilometers and demands around 6 days to comfortably complete the trek.

13. Travel Insurance: It is recommended to have travel insurance for these kinds of adventures. When taking out insurance please ensure the policy you choose covers you for the activities and altitude included in your itinerary. We will ask for the Travel Insurance Details over a mail. I was bored with my regular 9 to 5 schedule and then I decided to seclude myself from the chaotic city life. So, I went to Brahmatal trek last month along with a couple of my friends. We went with Trekmunk and it was a lovely experience. The trek guide, Ramesh was very polite and helpful. The food and snacks were amazing. The activities in the campsite during our overnight stay is something that I am gonna cherish my entire life. I am waiting for my next trek with Trekmunk.
I had the most wonderful experience trekking through the ranges of Chandrashila with Trekmunk. The small moments of achievement were phenomenal. Chandrashila is the most astonishing peak that I've ever trekked through; I've never been so fascinated. I think I am going to go for another trek with Trekmunk soon enough! The kind of hospitality that is provided to us is worth appreciating. I made many new friends and have enjoyed each and every day of this trek to its fullest.
No words for the bike trip from Srinagar to Leh. One should experience it to feel it and all this because of the management of Trekmunk especially Mohit and Harshit whose efforts even made the hardest of the ride exciting adventurous and above all safe. Although some hindrances which are quite common like bike issues and medical problems arose with our co-riders, I liked the way these two guys handled it dexterously. I went with one of my best friends and came with a lot more and the trip turned out to be memories that can be cherished for a lifetime. Thanks, Team Trekmunk for giving me a wonderful experience. I can't wait to go on my next adventure with them.
I chose (after a lot of research) Trekmunk for my first trek - The Hampta Pass and Chandratal Trek. And I am so really glad I did so. The trekker needs to only focus on the trek and the beautiful landscape around him/her. The rest of everything is taken care of by Trekmunk from day 1 till the end of the trek. Scrupulously managed logistics; no compromise on safety and security; experienced, intelligent and knowledgeable trek leaders; scrumptious meals; contingency and backup plans; etc. make Trekmunk an ideal choice to go trekking with. My trek was lead by Ashish Pathania, Prashant Reddy and Sanjay Thakur. The three are were thorough professionals. They were jolly, very helpful, experienced, knowledgeable, organized, and needless to say polite yet strict when needed. They played the most important roles in making sure our overall trekking experience was a wonderful one. Thank you Trekmunk for one of the most beautiful experiences I have had till date. Will see you guys soon.
We were a group of 12 friends and booked a trek to Kedartal with Trekmunk, it was an amazing experience..even though it was our first trek to the Himalayas and Kedartal being a difficult terrain trek we were guided excellently by the Trekmunk team. They served us nutritious food, took complete care of our safety and health and gave us the right advice to overcome AMS. Eagerly awaiting our next trek with them.
