From Ancient Temples to Modern Towers
Thailand cruises.
Whether you're seeking paradise islands or contemplative temples, Thailand has it all.
Thailand is unique in Southeast Asia — it's the only country that never capitulated to a foreign power, so its culture and character remain distinctive and intact. You'll see it as you eat your way through varieties of spicy noodles at Bangkok's street food markets, take an hour for quiet contemplation in the temples of Chiang Mai or bask in the vibrant colors of Krabi and Phuket. Cruise to Thailand to explore stunning beaches like Kata Noi and Ya Nui near Phuket, glide down the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok in a traditional Thai boat, or adventure through the country's historic spots and see the Buddhas at the Grand Palace and the Wat Pho Temple.
En-gulf Yourself In Adventure
Serene temples, pristine beaches and spicy noodles await you on a cruise

LEAVE THE LAND BEHIND
No matter where your Thailand cruise calls, a beautiful beach isn't far away. Sun yourself on the beaches of Krabi, or head out on a boating expedition in Bangkok or Phuket. Either way, you'll fall in love with the turquoise waters of Thailand.
THAI TAXI TRIPS
Long-tail boats are more than just pretty things to photograph, though you'll surely be called to snap a few photos of them. As far as southern Thailand's seafarers are concerned, they're the original taxi. If you're up for a getaway, hop on one of these water taxis for a day trip from Krabi or Phuket to quiet islands like Koh Poda or party spots like Koh Phi Phi.
BEACh-YA YOU WON'T WANT TO LEAVE
All of Thailand's beaches are amazing, but you're sure to notice some important differences. While the islands of the Andaman Sea (to the west and south of Phuket) feature dramatic cliffs and fluorescent waters, white sand and more muted shades of turquoise define the experience of swimming in the Gulf of Thailand south of Bangkok . No matter where you take a dip, though, you'll be in paradise.
SEAS THE DAY
Thailand's Koh Tao island is one of the world's most affordable and enjoyable places to SCUBA dive or get certified. Don't have time for a course? You can get amazing underwater views when you snorkel, so be sure to bring your underwater camera.
INLAND ADVENTURES
Thais are rightfully proud of their heritage, from the long-ruling Chakri dynasty to hundreds of years of Theravada Buddhism. From ancient culture to the pulse of modern Bangkok, you'll find a unique mix of the historic and the contemporary in Thailand with your cruise vacation.
SAVOR THE FLAVOR
Thailand's street food scene boasts quick, delicious meals to fuel you as you adventure through the cities. Don't be afraid to dive into local delicacies during your vacation, or pair familiar favorites like Pad Thai noodles and green curry chicken with tangy Som Tam papaya salad or crispy Khaaw Muu Grop pork belly with rice.
MONKEY AROUND IN THAILAND
Thailand offers a ton of opportunities to responsibly get wild. Ethical establishments like the Gibbon Rehabilitation Center in Phuket allow visitors to honor nature as they observe it, and at Khao Yai National Park, a less-than-two-hour drive from Bangkok, you can see elephants roam the land before you raft below thundering waterfalls.
CITY AND COUNTRY
While Thailand's temples give you a peek into ancient history, its cities offer more modern adventures. Explore award-winning shopping malls like Bangkok's Siam Paragon, or enjoy a panorama from the viewing deck of Baiyoke Sky Tower. To glimpse local culture, visit rice fields outside Chiang Mai or the villages of Phuket.
Start Your Southeast Asian Adventure in Thailand
While Krabi and Phuket have world-class beaches, you can find beautiful views all over Southeast Asia. Continue sailing southward toward Malaysia, where islands like Langkawi and Penang fuse amazing Andaman scenery with a mix of eclectic cultures. Southeast Asia is a wonderland for urban travelers, too. See the skyscrapers of Kuala Lumpur and Hanoi, explore ancient cities like Hong Kong or take advantage of world-class shopping, from Singapore's upmarket Orchard Road to the rough-and-tumble markets of Ho Chi Minh City.
THE PHUKET PERARL
While Phuket is where many travelers arrive in Thailand, it is also the perfect start to a Southeast Asian journey. Take long-tail boat trips to Koh Phi Phi or Koh Khao Phing Kan (aka "James Bond Island"), or explore the inland part of the island, where you can walk the streets of old-town Phuket or enjoy a panorama from atop the aptly named "Big Buddha."
STEP INTO SOUTHEAST ASIA
Thailand is both a cross-section of Southeast Asia and a gateway to the region. Cruise through the Andaman Sea to Malaysia, or sail into the Gulf of Thailand and the South China Sea to explore destinations like Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines . By adventuring through Southeast Asia, you're sure to see the region come alive.
WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO The Thai-Land of Paradise
Thailand is as much of a revelation for new Southeast Asia travelers as it is for those who are experienced in the region, and you can tailor your experience to your preferences — whether you're into nature trekking, beachside relaxation or urban exploring. Not impressed by the sprawling markets of Bangkok or the towering limestone cliffs of Krabi? Phuket's Old Town and Chiang Mai's Golden stupas should do the trick.
With their incredible hospitality, the Thai people embody the nation's nickname, the "Land of Smiles." Whether they greet you at your hotel with a friendly wai and bow or deliver you delicious local cuisine, Southeast Asia's most independent people are also its most welcoming.
5 Reasons Why Cruises Fit Any Family
Basic English is broadly spoken in areas of Thailand where tourists often visit, but learning some basic Thai will earn you many smiles.
Service of alcohol in Thailand is prohibited before 11 a.m. and between 2-5 p.m., so be sure to head to the bar at the right times.
To show respect for local customs, remove your shoes whenever entering a temple or a local person's home.
CUISINE HOW TO SAY "DELICIOUS" IN THAI
Thai can be a difficult language for non-natives, but you should definitely learn the word aroi , which means "delicious." It'll be the perfect way to describe the indulgent cuisine of the area, full of bright spices, pungent fish sauce and tangy vinegar.
WOK ThIS WAY
Whether you eat it with shrimp, pork or chicken, few Thai dishes are more satisfying than stir-fried noodles, also known as pad thai. Stop by one of the food stalls on Charoen Krung Road or another of Bangkok's popular street food spots, where pad thai is traditionally cooked up with tangy-sweet paste of tamarind, a tropical fruit.
Spicy, creamy green curry is even more delicious in Thailand than it is at home. The creamy coconut milk base of this comforting Thai classic is made with fragrant green chilies, lemongrass, ginger and garlic. Make sure to order rice, since the dish is served a la carte here.
PAPAYA PRIDE
There's no better way to get a taste of Thailand's northeast Isaan cuisine than som tam, a salad made with shredded green papaya, fresh tomatoes, dried shrimp, a squeeze of lime juice and as much or as little chili as you like.

Thomas And Uber Cup 2024
Thomas and Uber Cup 2024: Indian Men's team defeat Thailand in first match
(Courtesy : BAI/Badminton Photo )
The Indian men’s team defeated Thailand 3-1 on Day 1 of the 2024 Thomas Cup.
Defending Thomas Cup champions India kicked off their title defence with a thumping 4-1 win over Thailand in Group A while their women counterparts defeated Canada by an identical margin in the group stage of the Thomas and Uber Cup 2024 in Chengdu, China on Saturday.
The men, who created history two years ago by winning the coveted title, looked in trouble when HS Prannoy went down 22-20, 21-14 in the opening singles.
But the top doubles combination of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy restored party after a few hiccups with a 21-19, 19-21, 21-16 win over Peeratchai Sukphun and Pakkapon Teeraratsakul.
Lakshya Sen then kept his nerves under pressure to defeat Panotchaphon Teeraratsakul 21-12, 19-21, 21-16 to give India the lead and the doubles combination of MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila then sealed India’s win, beating Tanadon Punpanich and Wachirawit Sothon.
Earlier, Asian champions India registered winning start to their Uber Cup campaign thanks to a spirited display by their young squad.
World No 53 Ashmita Chaliha upset Canada’s Michelle Li, ranked 28 places above her, 26-24, 24-22 in a 42-minute clash that saw the Indian save a total of six game points across the two games.
The doubles combination of Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra then doubled India’s lead with a 21-12, 21-10 win over Catherine Choi and Jeslyn Chow.
Isharani Baruah then put the result beyond doubt as she packed off Wen Yu Zhang 21-13, 21-12 in just 29 minutes to give India an unassailable lead.

The women’s team will face Singapore in their second group stage tie on Sunday.

Cruise Tourism in India Reaches All-Time High – India Report
Bulbul Dhawan , Skift
April 24th, 2024 at 11:00 PM EDT
India is seeking to boost its cruise tourism. It aims to attract 4 million cruise tourists by 2041, up from 300,000 in 2023.
Bulbul Dhawan
The Skift India Newsletter is your go-to platform for all news related to travel, tourism, airlines, and hospitality in India.
India recorded a cruise tourism footfall of 470,000 in the 2023-24 financial year – its highest ever. Domestic tourists accounted for nearly 80% of this, as international cruise tourism in India has yet to revive to pre-Covid levels.
In 2019-20, the international and domestic tourists were roughly equal out of the 420,000 cruise passengers.
Popularity of cruise tourism in India: While efforts are on to revive international tourism in the segment, there is an increase in popularity of cruises among domestic tourists. Compared to 2019-20, domestic tourists have increased by nearly 85%. Indian tourists are also key for the cruise industry in countries such as Singapore, while Abu Dhabi is also seeking to attract Indian tourists to its cruise offerings.
India’s efforts to boost cruise tourism: India is seeking to boost its cruise tourism. During the G20 Summit last year, secretary of tourism V Vidhyavathi had said that India is aiming to attract 4 million cruise tourists by 2041, up from around 300,000 in 2023.
For this, a draft national strategy for tourism has also been formulated with the aim of making India a preferred cruising destination across deep sea cruises, coastal cruises, river cruises, and yacht cruises.
While cruise lines such as Cordelia Cruises and Costa Cruise are currently operating domestic cruises in the Arabian Sea, the government is also looking to develop river cruise tourism with an investment of INR 450 billion ($5.4 billion).
Europe Introduces New Schengen Visa Rules for Indians
The European Commission has introduced a new visa “cascade” regime for Indians when applying for the Schengen visas. The regime aims to offer longer, multi-entry Schengen visas to Indian tourists.
Speaking to industry players, Skift reported that while multi-year visas with longer durations were already offered to Indians, there was no standard policy in this regard. This new policy is likely to make the issuing of such visas more standardized across all Schengen states.
However, this new regime is not likely to speed up the visa processing times, which is currently posing to be a major challenge for Indians as they gear up for their summer travels.

India is set to get its first bullet train in 2026, said Indian railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The minister said that the construction work for various stations on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train route has been progressing well.
The maiden bullet train corridor in India will cover a distance of 508 km, of which work has been completed on more than 290 km. Initially slated for completion in August 2022, the project ran into delays over land surveys and acquisition.

Corona India has introduced a sunset view rating system for luxury hotel rooms, the world’s first one. Currently piloting at a few hotel properties across India, the system aims to ensure that the sunset views from hotel rooms in luxury properties are in line with what they were advertised to be. Body Of Thai Model, Missing For A Year, Found In A Morgue In Bahrain
Kaikan kaennakam moved to bahrain and started working at a restaurant. she also informed her family that she is living with her boyfriend..
Kaikan Kaennakam went missing about a year ago.
The body of a Thailand model, who went missing a year ago, has been found in a morgue in Bahrain. According to China Times, 31-year-old Kaikan Kaennakam looked for opportunities outside her country after the work dried up. She found a job at a restaurant in Bahrain and moved there three years ago to support her family in northern Thailand, the outlet further said. She used to regularly post on social media and told her family that she had met and started living with her Bahraini boyfriend.
However, she suddenly stopped posting in April 2023, leaving her family concerned. They were not able to reach her on phone.
Kaikan's family then sought help from the Thai embassy in January this year but they couldn't find her.
On April 18, the Thai embassy told the family that the body of an unidentified Southeast Asian woman has been parked at in the morgue of the Salmaniya Medical Complex. A tattoo on her leg helped her family identify Kaikan Kaennakam, said China Times.
The cause of death was acute cardiopulmonary failure due to alcohol poisoning.
According to Daily Star, Kaikan's family is now seeking help to repatriate her body and believes her death was suspicious.

As per the outlet, Kaikan's sister Suthida Ngernthaworn said in an online post on April 19: "My sister started working in Bahrain around two or three years ago and found an Arab boyfriend there."
"However, we have not been able to contact her since April last year. Our family contacted the Thai Embassy in Bahrain and learned on April 18 this month that she had passed away," the post further said.

Thomas and Uber Cup 2024: India women beat Canada; men down Thailand to start title defence
A young women’s team downed Canada 4-1 in Uber Cup Group A while Satwik-Chirag and Lakshya Sen inspired a similar win in Group C of the men’s Thomas Cup.
Both the Indian men’s and women’s badminton teams made a winning start at the Thomas and Uber Cup 2024 in Chengdu, the People’s Republic of China on Saturday.
While the women beat Canada 4-1 in their Uber Cup Group A opener, the men mirrored the scoreline against Thailand in Group C to start their Thomas Cup title defence on a high.
A young Indian women’s team, missing big name players like PV Sindhu, Ashwini Ponnappa-Tanisha Crasto and Gayatri Gopichand-Treesa Jolly, punched well over their weights to secure the win against Canada.
World No. 53 Ashmita Chaliha set the tone with a big 26-24, 24-22 win over Michelle Li, currently 25th in the world badminton rankings and a former Commonwealth Games champion, in the opening singles rubber.
Priya Konjengbam/Shruti Mishra followed up with a stunning 21-12, 21-10 victory over Catherine Choi/Jeslyn Chow while world No. 83 Isharani Baruah upset the 44th ranked Weng Yu Zhang 21-13, 21-12 to seal the tie in India’s favour.
Jackie Dent/Crystal Lai pulled one back for Canada, beating Simran Singhi/Ritika Thaker 21-19, 21-15.
However, Anmol Kharb , the hero of the Indian women’s team’s gold medal win at the Badminton Asia Team Championships earlier this year, wrapped up a commanding win for India with a win in the final singles match.
The 17-year-old Anmol Kharb, world No. 258 and India’s reigning national champion, made light work of Eliana Zhang, a player ranked 173 places above her in the world rankings, and won her rubber 21-15, 21-11.
India will face Singapore next on Sunday in the Uber Cup before taking on hosts China on Tuesday. The top two teams from each group will make the quarter-finals.
India’s Thomas Cup 2024 campaign didn’s start off well as HS Prannoy, India’s best-ranked men’s singles player at world No. 9, lost 22-20, 21-14 to reigning world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn, currently ranked eighth.
However, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty, the world No. 3 pair in men’s doubles, brought India level. Despite being stretched to three games, the Indian badminton players eked out a 21-19, 19-21, 21-12 win over Peeratchai Sukphun/Pakkapon Teeraratsakul.
Commonwealth Games champion Lakshya Sen, ranked 13th, also had to endure three games against world No. 105 Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul despite the huge gulf in their rankings. After 63 minutes though, the Indian shuttler emerged on the right side of a 21-12, 19-21, 21-16 scoreline.
It was smooth sailing for India after Lakshya’s win though, as MR Arjin/Dhruv Kapila beat Tanadon Punpanich/Wachirawit Sothon 21-19, 21-15 to seal the tie in India’s favour.
Kidambi Srikanth added the cherry on top with a comprehensive 21-9, 21-5 domination over Saran Jamsri.
India’s next match in the Thomas Cup will be against England on Monday before facing record 14-time champions Indonesia in their final group game on Wednesday.

Indian men begin Thomas Cup title defence, women look to shine in Uber Cup
India begin their thomas and uber cup journey on saturday, 27 april. while the men take on thailand in their first group stage match, the women play canada. the men's team will aim for consistency in title defence..
Listen to Story
- India begin their Thomas and Uber Cup campaign on 27 April
- Indian men's team have a tough group stage
- India men's team is the defending their title
Star singles players will aim for a consistent run as Indian men embark on a tough journey of defending their title at the Thomas Cup, while a young women's team, sans the peerless P V Sindhu, will look to punch above its weight when it begins its campaign in Uber Cup here on Saturday.
Just two years ago, India had sent shockwaves across the badminton world when they clinched their maiden Thomas Cup crown, considered the team world championship for men.
Without the burden of expectations, India went on to dismantle the world's best teams to script an unprecedented chapter in the history of the sport, and now they return to the 33rd edition with the arduous task of once again showing their might against the top echelons of the sport.
However, the underdog tag won't be there this time. In fact, all the teams will be gunning for the defending champions, who have retained the core of the 2022 side which had made history in Bangkok.
India will count on the experience of last edition as they have been put in the 'Group of Death', featuring multiple-time winners Indonesia, Thailand and England in Group C.
Indian men will begin their campaign against Thailand, who boost of reigning world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn and young Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul.
But the most formidable will be third-seeded Indonesia, who have the likes of Jonatan Christie and Anthony Ginting -- the two played the finals of All England in March --, and world No. 7 pair of Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Fajar Alfian.
"It will be tough this year. Based on current form, there are lots of teams with three strong singles and two doubles (players) like China, Denmark, Chinese Taipei, Japan, and Indonesia," HS Prannoy told PTI.
A lot can happen in two years' time and none of the Indian players coming to China this week are the same.
Prannoy, who had delivered the goods under pressure in the deciding fifth singles, is coming into the tournament after struggling in the first half of the season, owing to a chronic stomach disorder which returned after troubling him in the past.
His 90-minute marathon battle en route to a morale-boosting win over China's Lu Guang Zu, however, showed he is close to recovery and will carry the onus of giving the team a good start as he is the top-ranked singles player at world No. 9 now.
Lakshya Sen has found his mojo just in time with successive semifinal finishes at the French Open and the All England Championships after enduring a difficult 2023 and early 2024.
Kidambi Srikanth, who had won all six matches in 2022, has blown hot and cold in the last two years. He also endured tough losses in the team championships final at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and 2023 Asian Games.
Another player who could be entrusted with the third singles is young Priyanshu Rajawat, who was part the team which won the epic title in Bangkok, and since then has gone on to claim his maiden Super 300 title last year in Orleans.
While the rest had an inconsistent run, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have looked unstoppable and are coming into the prestigious event with four straight finals on the World Tour. The duo will be the spearhead of India's campaign.
Dhruv Kapila and Arjun MR, who will play the second doubles, have weaved a few title wins at the Uganda International Challenge and Orlen Polish Open, besides signing off with a quarterfinal finish at the Spain Masters in March.
"As a team we have evolved in the last 2-3 years. Everybody has been able to keep aside their individual problems for a one-week time and has been able to push through emotional challenges in a much better way during the team events," Prannoy said.
It is likely that Prannoy and Srikanth could be rotated during the event, putting the onus more on Sen and Rajawat to deliver. There is also Kiran George, who has been in decent touch.
In Uber Cup, Ashmita Chaliha will lead a young Indian team with all the big guns skipping the tournament after competing in a series of tournaments to qualify for the Paris Olympics.
The greenhorns will look to test their mental and physical fortitude against the top international players when they open their campaign against Canada in Group A.
Top seeds and multiple-time winners China and Singapore are also in their group, making it improbable for the young women's team to go past the group stage.
Besides Ashmita, national champion Anmol Kharb, who was the star performer for India en route their maiden Asia Team Championships title, will also look to test their wares as will Isharani Baruah and 15-year-old Tanvi Sharma.
