Fans think Taylor Swift’s plaid and black-and-green VMAs outfits hold ‘Reputation’ clues

It’s a regular practice for Taylor Swift fans to analyze her wardrobe choices as possible Easter eggs , and her appearance at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards were no different.

Swift initially arrived to the award show in a yellow and black look accessorized with long, leather fingerless gloves and thigh-high leather boots. She was styled by Joseph Cassell Falconer in the plaid corset dress by Christian Dior, Check The Tag reports .

Online, Swifties immediately began to speculate that the pop star is signaling a return to her “Reputation” era.

“Taylor is definitely announcing Reputation (Taylor’s Version) tonight,” @wickednewshub posted on X.

“IT’S GIVING REPUTATION-” @heytaybrina also wrote.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the next of the singer’s “Taylor’s Version” albums . Swift has been re-recording her first six records in an effort reclaim her music when those masters were sold to Scooter Braun’s company in 2019. Swift only has two albums remaining to re-record: 2016’s “Reputation” and her 2006 self-titled debut, “Taylor Swift.”

But the fashion analysis didn’t stop there: About an hour into the VMAs, Swift made a wardrobe change, swapping her plaid dress for a shorter, sparkly one with hints of green and silver. It included a UFO design on the front — which could also be a nod to her newer song “Down Bad,” performed with UFO imagery on her “Eras Tour.”

Sadly for her fans, Swift did not announce "Reputation (Taylor's Version) at the VMAs, instead using her final speech after winning video of the year for "Fortnight" to thank her team, fans and boyfriend, Travis Kelce .

After the ceremony, fans took to the internet to joke about falling for yet another Swiftie red herring.

In fact, Swifties have fallen for so many misdirects for “Rep (TV)” in the past, that they’ve taken to calling it “clowning.”

"3 years in a row Swifties clowing for rep tv is so funny," @swiftieboston tweeted.

"another vmas no rep tv," @carowhinelc joked with a photo of a scene from the 2005 film "Pride and Prejudice" with actor Matthew Macfadyen's Mr. Darcy looking exceptionally depressed at a party as others laugh around him.

Had Swift announced the album at the award ceremony, it would not have been the first time. Earlier this year at the Grammy Awards, she  announced “The Tortured Poets Department”  after winning best pop album. Fans thought some of her hints for that album were for “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” — but it was all a misdirect .

Swift also  announced her “Midnights” album  at the 2022 VMAs while accepting the award for video of the year for “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version).”

Currently, Swift is on a break from her “Eras Tour” and was spotted in New York City  at the U.S. Open with her beau, Travis Kelce , this past weekend. She also  attended the Chiefs-Ravens game at Arrowhead Stadium  on Sept. 5.

Kairouan was the Tunisia capital for five centuries was a place of outstanding learning center of diffusion of Arabo-Muslim civilization. Kairouan bears unique witness to the first centuries of this Islamic settlement in Tunisia with a thriving civilization, a new style of architectural and urban development that gives Tunisia a cultural aspect different than any other Mediterranean destination. The inscribed site of Al Qayrawan is a serial property that includes the medina (Old City) and its neighborhoods, the water reservation Basins of the Aghlabids Dynasty, and the Gates and markets, schools, and Sufi Zawiyas. The medina (54 ha) and its suburbs (20 ha) are an urban ensemble presenting all the components of a cultural amalgamation of North African Arab-Turkish town. Taking a culturally guided tour at Kairouan is like stepping into an ancient sophisticated world of arts and crafts with a zest for life.

The medina comprises juxtaposed dwellings divided into quarters separated by medieval blind alleys, narrow and winding streets; as in most of the North African cultural cities, a fortifying wall will serve to protect the city from intruders. Kairouan ramparts extend over more than three kilometers. The medina contains some remarkable monuments including the Great Mosque, an architectural masterpiece that served as a model for several other Maghreban spiritual and cultural centers. The Mosque of the Three Doors represents the most ancient existent sculpted facade of Muslim art. The Basins of the Aghlabids, an open-air reservoir formed by two communicating cisterns that date back to the 9th century, constitute one of the most beautiful hydraulic ensembles conceived to provide water to the town. DAY TO DAY ITINERARY

Day 1: arrival to tunis.

Welcome to Tunisia tours and discoveries. Upon your arrival at Tunis Airport, you will meet your tour leader who will transfer you to your hotel in Tunis. After lunch, your local guide will take you on a cultural and historic tour exploring the marvels of Tunis, Carthage. A former palace, the Bardo Museum accommodates the finest repository of Roman mosaics in the world. The afternoon will be devoted to visiting the principal cultural and historic sites of Carthage, the capital of the Punic (or Carthaginian) world, and later the second city in the western Roman Empire after Rome. We have the best informed Tunisian guides who not only enlighten your Tunisia cultural encounter with history but also with cultural layers of this ancient destination walking with you everywhere and answering your questions with accuracy about all that is cultural Tunisia to your interest.

Day 2: Tunis walking tour

On our second of our Tunisia trip, you will enjoy a day exploring the marvels of Tunis's historic and cultural discovery with your local guide. Tunis Medina is the quintessentially model of a typical Islamic city vibrant with a maze of narrow alleys crammed with ancient buildings, covered markets from the scorching sun, public fountains, and Koranic schools, arches, and beautiful gates. In the midst of the Great Mosque of 9th-century origin, one of North Africa’s most significant Islamic buildings. The rest of the day is free for wandering the Medina or relaxing at the hotel. In the evening a private visit to the Ennejma Ezzahra (Splendid Star), built by master craftsmen in the 1900s as a home for the Baron Rodolphe d’Erlanger, in homage to his passion for the Middle East. It is now a museum and the Centre for Arab and Mediterranean Music. Overnight Tunis.

Day 3: Udna -Thuburbo - Zaghouane - Kairouan

After breakfast, we will travel overland to Kairouan visiting the way the ancient sites of Carthaginian, Roman, and Islamic highlight of historic importance. Visit the Roman site of Athina, a chance to see several good quality mosaics in situ. The amphitheater has underground vaulted cells that still witness the echo of ancient civilizations. Thuburbo Majus is a typical Roman city model, with a colonnaded forum, fine temples, houses, and baths. Explore the old irrigation system unique to this area a 51 km long aqueduct joining Carthage to Zaghouane still stands in glory. This aqueduct is mesmerizing with its water temple at the natural springs of Zaghouane ostentatiously set over the hill to celebrate the importance all civilizations of the past have given to water especially Muslims who originate from the desert. Dinner and Overnight are in Kairouan.

Day 4: Kairouan Cultural and Historic Tour

After breakfast, you will meet your Tunisian local guide who will lead you to explore the marvels of the first Islamic city in North Africa. The morning is spent in Kairouan, with visits to the Medina and the Great Mosque (8th/9th century) and other examples of local traditional architecture. The immense colosseum at El Djem could hold 30,000 and is a remarkable sight, towering over its modern surroundings. The small museum nearby contains some exquisite mosaics. On your final night in Kairouan, you are invited to a farewell dinner in a traditional restaurant with live music to crown your cultural discovery tour of Tunisia.

Day 5: Tunis Airport

Transfer in time to Tunis Airport to catch your flight to your next destination. Thank you for your patronage. Goodbye for now, come back and visit us again on another Tunisia cultural tour.

1. Play With Characters

After reviewing tons of different logos, I noticed a clear trend among many logotypes .  (A logotype is a logo centered around a business name or initials.) 

The logotype design creatively played around with the characters in the text. To clarify, this method is when a letter in the name is replaced with a symbol to create a unique and unusual idea that stands out from the others.

As it’s the main element of a business, a logotype has to form a lasting impression, differ from all others, and express an idea. But most importantly, the logo has to be readable. So take note: Play around with characters in a logotype all you want, but rein it in so the text doesn’t become a scrambled mess. 

2. Sketches

From sketches, scribbles, and doodles, freeform drawing is a design trend that you’ll see plenty of in 2022. What’s so fun about this approach is that it perfectly captures the brand’s personality. And there’s nothing that does that quite like a sketch drawn in a unique way. 

Hand-drawn logos tell everyone that the brand is bold, unpretentious, transparent, and maybe even unapologetically quirky!  If you love an unfinished look, this is your year to deliver that aesthetic in your logo. 

3. Layering

Another trend we’ll see in 2022 is logos with layered elements. Overlapping elements is a design method using different patterns, shapes, textures, and colors to add depth, balance, and create contrast. Layering a logo pulls together a cohesive and styled look while capturing the eye. 

Layering can be applied to letters, colors, shapes, symbols, and patterns in any combination. The abrupt changes in colors and patterns break up other elements within a design. You can also play with varying line thickness and splashes of bright color. 

4. Bright Colors

Last year, muted tones were in. But this year, we’re saying hello to vibrant color schemes! Going into 2022, we’re all ready to add brightness and positivity to our lives, and there’s no better way than doing that with a brightly colored logo! 

Sure, black and white logos will always have a place in design trends, but if we look at what’s trending in 2022, we’re going to see vivid, bright colors in logo design. Having a vivid color palette allows for a vibe that speaks to a younger audience, signaling that the brand is fun, dynamic, and trendy. 

While designers may turn up the volume on color, they’ll also tone down other details. It’s important to select one or two details, otherwise, you might end up with a messy logo. 

5. Monograms

Also known as lettermarks, monograms are logos made up of only typography . These logos consist of 2 to 3 letters (one-letter logos are considered letterforms ). Usually, the letters will be your business’s initials. Monograms rely on the type of font you use to convey your message. 

Monograms reached the height of their popularity in the 19th century, and seeing this revival proves classic never goes out of style. From wedding planners to interior designers to construction workers, monograms stand as a symbol of trust, professionalism, and class. 

6. Geometric Shapes 

Geometric shapes are the building blocks of design, and it’s important that you understand what each shape means in order to incorporate them into your logo.  

A modern logo design often plays upon elements of symbolism. This year we’re taking it up a notch by using classic shapes to form a great logo design. 

Think of emblems as your go-to for this design style, but not something too regal or busy. 

This trend will emphasize the soft and simple aspects of design while giving a logo the structure it needs. Think of how a logo could translate onto a stamp. In order for it to maintain structure within the soft texture of the stamp ink, a geometric shape is a must to hold together the design.

7. Negative Space

Another trend I’m excited to see more of is the use of negative space , which is the “unused” space in a design. It’s a fun way to help form a shape that reflects a critical aspect of your brand. Think of the FedEx logo where there’s an arrow in the negative space between the ‘E’ and ‘X’. 

Negative space logos highlight your business’s creativity and ability to think outside the box. It can include hidden messages and images within the logo, which is a great way to engage customers and reel them in. 

8. Disappearing Letters and Text

Wordmark logos are sturdy and make sure that your customer knows exactly which brand they’re interacting with. With developments in graphic design and the freedom to create your own font, text has a new purpose.

This year we’re seeing minimalism effect wordmarks with the cool look of negative space and disappearing text. 

The missing parts of the letters or words give the impression of mystery and help grab the attention of your audience. Just make sure not to take it too far where your logo is illegible.

9. Glitch/Static Motion

As much as each of us may hate to admit, 2020 lead us down the rabbit hole of TikTok, and with that, the glitch trend.

So why not take on 2022 by fully embracing the fact that the glitch is cool. It sends us back to grainy TV but also launches us into the future with a feeling and excitement for uncharted frequencies.

Whether your industry is classic photography or the future of hi-tech, the glitch can work for you because of its versatility.

10. Gradients

When we talk about gradients in logo design , I want you to get the image of single-shade gradients out of your head. When using gradients this year think of bright colors that blend to give off a soft and safe but eclectic vibe.
