Best Europe Cruise Deals

While European cruises typically come at a higher price point than sailings to other regions, there are still ways to hunt for a good deal and find a cruise for a good value. These cruises typically last at least seven days, which will hike up the price – but because of that, you will also get to explore a number of destinations all in one trip.

Popular Mediterranean cruise itineraries include stops throughout Greece, Italy and Croatia, while Baltic sailings often visit ports in Sweden, Denmark, Russia and Norway. Shore excursions in these locales vary widely by destination. Travelers can tour major architectural sites like the Parthenon in Athens, Greece, or the Royal Palace in Stockholm; take gondola rides in Venice, Italy; or savor local food on a culinary tour through Barcelona, Spain. Most European cities are packed with things to do, so you may be perfectly happy exploring the ports on your own instead to save some money.

You'll find some of the best Mediterranean cruise deals in the early spring and late fall, before peak season sets in. Though not all budget cruise lines consistently sail throughout the Mediterranean, searching for itineraries on larger ships with budget-friendly inside staterooms can help you save some money. For example, Celebrity Cruises' ships carry around 3,000 passengers and offer Mediterranean sailings starting as low as $150 per person, per night, while comparable itineraries on Norwegian Cruise Line and MSC Cruises start under $100 per person, per night. In contrast, high-end cruise lines like Viking Ocean Cruises start at about $400 per person, per night, partly because many luxury lines only offer travelers the choice of balcony rooms or suites.

When it comes to Baltic sailings, you can expect inside cabins to start around $100 per person, per night on budget-friendly cruise lines like Carnival and Norwegian. Fares on luxury lines like Seabourn Cruise Line and Silversea Cruises typically begin around $600 for balcony rooms or suites, depending on the line. The most affordable time of year to sail the Baltic Sea, regardless of cruise line, is typically in the fall and early spring.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Deals Guide

When it comes to planning the ultimate getaway, there are so many reasons why cruise vacations rank among the most popular travel options. First of all, they’re completely stress-free. On a cruise vacation, all the planning is taken care of by the cruise line — from the destinations you sail to and the shore excursions available at each port, to a full range of entertainment and activities happening onboard every day. If you’re not a planner, or if the only things you’re looking to focus on during your getaway is savoring great food, relaxing, and soaking up the sights, cruise vacations are the way to go. A cruise vacation is also a great option if you’re traveling with the whole family, especially when you opt for a Royal Caribbean cruise. All of the ships in this cruise line’s fleet offer family-friendly experiences for guests of all ages. Even little ones will find plenty of ways to play with spaces and activities designed for tots to tweens. One of the top reasons savvy travelers love cruising, though, is because of the incredible value it offers. With Royal Caribbean, your cruise fare includes access to most of the ship’s attractions, select dining venues and all of the entertainment onboard. If you want to make your experience even more all-inclusive, you can opt for beverage and specialty dining packages that cover drinks and dinner at some of the most exclusive restaurants in the fleet. On top of all that, the cruise line presents frequent limited-time offers and seasonal sales, making it easy to score big savings when booking your vacation.

I’m ready to start planning my cruise — how can I score the best deals?

Whether you’re looking to book a short getaway or a longer adventure to far-flung destinations, Royal Caribbean makes it easy to save big on everything from your cruise fare to special experiences onboard and onshore. The first step to making sure you get the best deals is to join the cruise line’s email list. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll receive regular updates on all the latest offers, like deals by destination , kids sail free promotions and flash sales. The savings don’t end when you book your cruise, though. Once you’ve made a reservation, you’ll also receive notifications about special offers for onboard experiences — like discounts on beverage and specialty dining packages, shore excursions, spa services, and more via My Royal Cruise .

Does it pay to plan ahead, or should I wait until the last minute?

It’s an age-old question — does the early bird really get the worm, or are there perks to taking a “wait-and-see” approach? If you’re booking a cruise vacation, you’ll find there are benefits to both strategies. Planning ahead is a great way to score big savings , as Royal Caribbean often runs early saver deals to guests booking well in advance. It’s also pretty safe to assume prices usually go up as availability goes down the closer you get to your sail date, so booking ahead is a surefire way to lock in a great rate. That said, booking a cruise at the last minute can also yield some unexpected savings — but only if the itinerary you’re interested in hasn’t sold out yet.

If you can be flexible when it comes to your travel dates, you’ll have your pick of unbeatable savings. Popular vacation dates — like the holidays , spring break , summer vacation and week long cruises — sometimes see the highest prices (though you might get lucky with a seasonal sale). If you have the flexibility to travel during the shoulder season or off season, you’ll likely enjoy big savings on popular stateroom categories , like Balconies and even Suites. The deals don’t only apply to your cruise fare, though. Once you’ve booked your vacation, you could easily unlock discounts and specials on add-ons, including beverage and dining packages , Voom® high speed internet, shore excursions, and amazing experiences not included in your cruise fare — like a day of pampering at Vitality SM Spa, a behind-the-scenes tour of the ship’s galley followed by brunch, VIP seating at shows, and much more.

How can I maximize the value of my cruise vacation?

There are plenty of ways to get more bang for your buck when you sail on a Royal Caribbean cruise. Every ship in the fleet offers a range of delicious complimentary dining options , but you can dig into even more crave-worthy flavor by purchasing a Specialty Dining Package for less ahead of your cruise. Add a Specialty Beverage Package — which includes unlimited alcoholic beverages, soda, and more — and your experience is as close to all-inclusive as it gets. And with so many complimentary shows and attractions onboard, you can easily fill every sea day without spending a single dollar extra.

Royal Caribbean also offers deals based on departure ports  and destinations, so if you’re a flexible traveler looking for great savings, you can plan your next vacation around which itineraries are on sale. Just check your email or visit RoyalCaribbean.com/cruise-deals to stay up to date on promotions, sales and special offers. You can even browse sailings and deals by homeport, destination and season, so you can rest assured you’re getting the best possible deal no matter when or where in the world you choose to set sai.

European airline's 'all-you-can-fly' pass to worldwide destinations is now on sale for £450

European airline's 'all-you-can-fly' pass to worldwide destinations is now on sale for £450

The membership includes access to all of the airline's international routes.

Anish Vij

The idea of travelling around the world for just £450 year-round sounds a bit too good to be true.

Thankfully, that isn't totally the case here, as frequent flyers could have the deal of a lifetime on their hands.

Wizz Air Hungary Limited is offering a 12-month membership program that enables passengers to fly on all of their international routes.

The promotion is called 'All You Can Fly' and the European airline is providing members with the choice of 950 routes across Europe , North Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

The membership includes access to all of the airline's international routes. (Marcos del Mazo/LightRocket via Getty Images)

Wizz Air commercial officer Silvia Mosquera said: "We are thrilled to be the first to introduce this one-of-a-kind membership for travellers in Europe.

"The Wizz All You Can Fly membership will give customers hundreds of spontaneous travel options for a fixed price, giving them freedom to fly whenever is convenient without paying extra."

However, customers will need to hurry up and book with only 10,000 seats up for grabs.

How to get the All You Can Fly membership?

The membership can be purchased from wizzair.com or you can apply directly on the All You Can Fly website.

If you visit the All You Can Fly site, make sure you select the 'All You Can Fly membership' option.

"The voucher fee will be payable at registration. After registration, you will need to agree to the terms and conditions, the privacy notice, the special conditions of the terms and conditions including those regarding your right of withdrawal," Wizz Air explains.

"After successful payment, you will be able to start booking available seats.

"Please note: You are only able to book flights up to 3-days (72 hours) before departure. Seats are subject to availability."

The European airline is offering a worldwide destinations pass for a starting price of £450. (Nicolas Economou/NurPhoto via Getty Images)

How does All You Can Fly work?

You can use the All You Can Fly membership to book flights at any time of the year, you just have to watch out for the booking restrictions.

Once you book your first flight through the All You Can Fly website, you only pay the flat fee per segment from then on.

It's important to know that flights do not include carry-on or checked baggage, or any additional services, only personal belongings.

"In case you would like to purchase baggage to your ticket, please visit 'check-in & bookings page' after the successful booking," the airline said.

The fine print

It's definitely worth noting that the introductory price is set to rise to over £500 after 15 August.

And if you would like to cancel your membership at any point, you can't terminate it before the 12-months membership commitment period is over. The membership can't be transferred to another passenger.

The All You Can Fly is also only designed for individual travellers, so you cannot book All You Can Fly tickets for others if you want to travel with family members.

All You Can Fly is automatically renewed each year and it can only be cancelled within the withdrawal period (at the beginning, within 14 calendar days from the registration) or terminated each year before the end of the mandatory subscription period.

40 Best Places to Visit in Europe

By Kieran Meeke

Last updated: August 13th, 2024

Oia, Santorini, Greece, one of the best places to visit in Europe

  • Find a Cruise

With such a vast geographic span to explore, how do you choose the best places to visit in Europe?

There are major cities and a wealth of world-famous sights to choose between. From historic Rome to Istanbul, there are endless cultural riches to discover.

Film and photography have seared these iconic places into our consciousness. We can all recognize the blue church domes of Santorini or the mighty fortifications of Valletta. But whatever your interests, you’ll create lasting memories on any trip to Europe.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Amsterdam, one of the best places to visit in Europe

Amsterdam , the capital of the Netherlands, is well known for its canal network. Join a boat tour to find your bearings, taking in major sights that include the emotive Anne Frank House.

Amsterdam is also famous for its museums, including one dedicated to Van Gogh and the modern art Stedelijk Museum. The Rijksmuseum showcases Dutch art and history, including Rembrandt’s remarkable The Night Watch .

The city is easy to explore on foot, by bike, or on its tram network. Visit the shops and cafés of the Centrum , or go further afield to neighborhoods such as the arty, musical Jordaan.

Aix-en-Provence, France

Street view of Aix-en-Provence, France

The romantic city of Aix-en-Provence is a place of elegant architecture, cultural heritage, and artists. As the birthplace of painter Paul Cézanne and the childhood home of writer Emile Zola, it’s one of the best places to visit in Europe for art lovers.

Aix sits in the heart of Provence , known for its colorful lavender fields and vineyards. The mild Mediterranean climate helps produce the famous Provençal rosé wines.

Shop for these and more in the pedestrian-friendly historic center. On its edge is the famous tree-lined boulevard of Cours Mirabeau, lined with cafés, restaurants, and some of the best shopping in France .

Athens, Greece

Historic site of Acropolis in Athens, Greece

Acropolis in Athens, Greece

Athens , the capital of Greece, is dominated by the ruins of the Acropolis. This ancient hill-top citadel is home to the iconic Parthenon, an essential sight for any first-time visitor.

Visit the Acropolis Museum to see artifacts from the site and learn more about the history that Greece is known for . The Temple of Zeus, the Greek mainland’s largest ancient temple, is another major sight.

Below the Acropolis, the historical neighborhood of Plaka is a maze of cobblestone streets. Bursting with cafés, shops, and taverns, it’s perfect for exploring at leisure.

Barcelona, Spain

Sagrada Família in Barcelona, Spain

The symbol of Barcelona is the amazing Sagrada Família, Antoni Gaudí’s unique architectural masterpiece. You can see more of Gaudí’s Modernist work at Park Güell and Casa Milà.

Las Ramblas, a pedestrian boulevard of shops, cafés, and street performers, is the modern side of the Catalan capital. Off it is the Gothic Quarter with its medieval streets and hidden plazas.

Its food scene is centered on traditional tapas bars, but includes many innovative high-end restaurants. The art scene is equally important, with museums dedicated to Picasso and Miró.

Belfast, Northern Ireland

Street view of Belfast, Northern Ireland

Belfast is the proud birthplace of the ill-fated Titanic , built at shipyards on Belfast Lough. On the original launch site now stands the state-of-the-art Titanic Experience, telling its story.

The Ulster Museum, in the lovely Botanic Gardens, gives a wider view of Belfast and Irish history. Other things to do in Belfast include visiting the scenic Belfast Castle, the historic Grand Opera House, and the picturesque St. George’s Market.

The city’s troubled political history is seen in its murals along the rival Falls and Shankill roads. Learn more on a tour, or explore further afield to the world-famous Giant’s Causeway.

Bergen, Norway

Bryggen in Bergen, Norway

Norway’s second-largest city sits on the coast, surrounded by seven mountains and deep fjords. Take the funicular up Mount Fløyen for panoramic views of the city and its surrounds, or for a hike.

Bergen is known as the “Gateway to the Fjords” for the many tours to nearby wonders such as Sognefjord and Hardangerfjord. Indoors, don’t miss the four KODE Art Museums, or the lovely home of composer Edvard Grieg.

The UNESCO World Heritage site of Bryggen, with its colorful wooden harbor buildings, is another one of the best things to do in Bergen . It will introduce you to the local food scene, as will the Fish Market near the city center.

Bilbao, Spain

On Wednesday, all three of Swift’s sold-out shows at Ernst Happel Stadium were canceled after local authorities confirmed a terrorist threat .

Three teenage men, who pledged allegiance to ISIS , were arrested in connection to an attack planned for one of the 14-time Grammy winner’s concerts in Vienna.

The suspects, who are ages 17 to 19, “wanted to carry out an attack in the area outside the stadium, killing as many people as possible,” said Omar Haijawi-Pirchner, head of the Directorate of State Security and Intelligence.

The Vienna concertgoers were promised refunds for their tickets.
