Chengdu Attractions - Things to Do

Chengdu is a famous historical and cultural city in southwest China, owning two world heritage sites: the world natural heritage of Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries is the no. 1 attraction of Chengdu, while the world cultural heritage of Dujiangyan and Mount Qingcheng is a must-see near the downtown. Most tourists would like to stay in Chengdu for 1 or 2 days, to explore the popular tourist spots in the downtown area, including the must-go Panda Base, the Wuhou Temple in memory of Zhuge Liang, the Thatched Cottage of Du Fu (an ancient poet), the Taoist site Qingyang Palace, the Buddhist shrine Wenshu Monastery, and the 3,000-year-old Jinsha Site. There are also several wonderful Chengdu attractions in the environs. If you have 2 to 4 days, a visit to Dujiangyan Irragation System and Mount Qingcheng would be worth your time. 2. Wenshu Monastery

4. Jinli Pedestrian Street

Jinli Pedestrian Street is “The First Street of Shu Kingdom”, and it’s a famous snack street in Chengdu. The ambiance was like stepping back into the past, well presented and historically brilliant. 5. Kuanzhai Alley

6. Du Fu Cottage

The 22-acre thatched cottage museum park and memorial temple is a museum and park in honor of Du Fu who is one most outstanding an 8th-century Tang dynasty Chinese poet. 7. Jinsha Site Museum

Located in Chengdu, Jinsha Site Museum is built on the original location of the Jinsha Site that was discovered in 2001 and the first important archaeological discovery found in the early 21 century in China. 9. Chengdu Renmin Park

Located in the city center, Renmin Park (People's Park) is the first public park in Chengdu. It’s a beautiful city park, with artful landscaping, a bonsai garden, two tea houses, a section of kiddie amusement rides, a pond with row and motor boats that connects to winding streams filled with Koi. The park is filled with locals, and it’s a best place to experience the slow life of Chengdu. Opened in June 2013, New Century Global Center is the largest freestanding building in the world, totally about 20 million sqt. You can get there by Metro Line one.
