Yes Launches US Tour With Intimate Club Show: Set List and Videos

Yes kicked off their  Classic Tales of Yes U.S. tour  on Tuesday with an intimate fan club show in Lititz, Pennsylvania, that featured several live debuts and songs that hadn't been performed in years.

You can see videos from the performance and the full set list below.

The progressive rock legends launched their latest stateside run at Mickey's Black Box, a 600-person venue located on the campus of Rock Lititz, a sprawling rehearsal and production facility where artists can workshop their stage designs, film music videos and more.

Yes Played Several Deep Cuts and Live Debuts on Tour Kickoff

After opening their set with the title track from 1977's  Going for the One , Yes unearthed "It Will Be a Good Day (The River)," off 1999's  The Ladder , for the first time since 2000. They also performed 1977's "Turn of the Century" for the first time since 2014, and several other tracks — including "Machine Messiah," "Time and a Word" and "South Side of the Sky" — for the first time since 2018.

The intimate performance also featured two live debuts — "All Connected" and "Cut From the Stars" — off Yes' most recent album,  Mirror to the Sky , released in May.

More time-honored tracks included a cover of Simon & Garfunkel 's "America," as well as the hits "I've Seen All Good People" and the show-closing "Roundabout."

The Classic Tales of Yes tour will begin in earnest on Thursday at the Wind Creek Event Center in nearby Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The voyage will conclude on Nov. 4 in Riverside, California. Each show will also feature an on-site presentation and gallery by artist and designer Roger Dean, whose work has appeared on several Yes album covers.

Following last year’s sold-out U.S. tour, YES , who are Steve Howe (guitars, vocals), Geoff Downes (keyboards), Jon Davison (vocals, acoustic guitar), Billy Sherwood (bass guitar, vocals), and Jay Schellen (drums), have today (July 17) announced their “Classic Tales Of Yes” tour in the U.S. starting September 24 in Bethlehem, PA and ending November 4 in Riverside, CA.

Look for the tour—which is the latest presentation of their ongoing concert series illuminating their classic music—to include many iconic tracks from the influential and pioneering Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees’ catalog covering 50-plus years as well as music from their acclaimed new album Mirror To the Sky (released May 19 on InsideOutMusic/Sony Music).

See below for the full list of tour dates, which will go on sale July 21. Go Here for ticketing information.

Looking forward to the “Classic Tales of Yes” tour, Steve Howe said : “We’re putting together a great setlist covering the length and breadth of Yes’ career.”

Yes, The Classic Tales of Yes Tour, Roger Dean flyer

The evening will begin with an on-site presentation by world-renowned English artist and designer Roger Dean , whose masterful artwork of striking other-worldly landscapes has graced classic album covers and posters, most prominently by YES and Asia. Every show will feature a Roger Dean gallery in the venue’s reception/foyer area. His work—which also appears on the cover of Mirror To The Sky —has sold more than one hundred million copies worldwide.

Mirror To The Sky features not one, but four tracks clocking in at over eight minutes, with the sweeping and cinematic title track coming in just shy of fourteen minutes. What’s more, the tracks, like Yes’ best, take the listener on a wide dynamically ranging journey of soundscapes which also showcase Steve Howe’s dazzling guitars, Jon Davison’s angelic, crystalline vocals, Billy Sherwood’s deftly dancing bass, keyboard wizard Geoff Downes’ impeccable sounds, exquisite melodies and fills, and Jay Schellen’s masterfully controlled explosions, on drums. Jay Schellen, who has been touring with the band since 2016 as an additional drummer, was hand-picked to step into his mentor and friend Alan White role when White sadly passed away in 2022.

Formed in 1968 by Jon Anderson and the late, and much-missed, Chris Squire , YES have been one of the most innovative, influential and best-loved bands in Rock music history. Their 1970s albums “ The Yes Album ,” “ Fragile ,” “ Close To The Edge ,” “ Yessongs ” (a triple live album set), “ Tales From Topographic Oceans ,” “ Relayer ” and “ Going For The One ” were ground-breaking in musical style and content. Their music also became synonymous with artist Roger Dean whose distinctive YES logo design and artwork adorned the lavish gatefold presentation sleeves of many YES albums.

With sales of over 50 million records, the Grammy-award winning YES were inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2017 where they performed “ Roundabout ” from the album “ Fragile ” and the FM radio-friendly “ Owner Of A Lonely Heart ” from the 1985 album “ 90125 .”

YES released their 22nd studio album in 2021, “ The Quest ,” produced by Steve Howe and which went to No. 1 in the UK Rock Albums Chart and entered the Official UK Album Chart at No. 20.

In 2022 came the sad news that drummer Alan White , ever-present in the YES line-up for 50 years, had passed away. The news came shortly before the band embarked on their classic, genre-defining album “ Close To The Edge 50th Anniversary Tour ” which they dedicated to Alan .

In February 2023, ahead of the news of the new studio album “ Mirror To The Sky ,” YES confirmed Jay Schellen as the new permanent drummer with YES , hand-picked to step into his mentor and friend Alan White ‘s role. “ I had done the 2016 tour on my own for Alan, ” says Jay . “ From late 2017 onwards, we had a beautiful partnership. I learned and discovered so much about Alan’s style. His passion and creativity was phenomenal. The new album has Alan’s presence all over it. It is inside of us. So, this is still, in my heart, Alan just being present and with us, and with me, in a big way. “

“ Mirror To The Sky ,” YES ‘ 23rd studio album, was released on 19 May 2023 to universally positive reviews in the music press. “ These artists manage to come up with a fresh and modern album, without losing their distinctive traits that have characterised their style over the years ,” stated Progressive Rock Journal .

Rory McIlroy “carries” Shane Lowry to 25th PGA Tour win at Zurich Classic

Zurich Classic of New Orleans - Final Round, Shane Lowry, Rory McIlroy

The PGA Tour is in New Orleans this week for the only team event on tour, the Zurich Classic.

Despite a tumultuous round by Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry , the Irish duo came out on top in a playoff over Martin Trainer and Chad Ramey.

It is McIlroy’s 25th career victory on the PGA Tour . Lowry notched his third and his first since winning The Open in 2019. But it was the former that did most of the heavy lifting.

“Let’s go and get 400 [FedEx Cup] points each. That’s what we’ve done, and I nearly feel a little bit bad taking them because Rory carried me a lot of the way,” Lowry said with a smile after the win.

Nearly three hours before the 72nd hole had been played by all teams, Trainer and Ramey entered the clubhouse at 25-under par. A number of pairs were already at or just below that number with practically an entire round to play.

Yet, windy conditions made scoring very difficult as no one would finish any lower.

A bogey on 17 for McIlroy and Lowry dropped them one shot off the pace. But the Northern Irishman made up for it on 18 with a fantastic chip . That set up a short birdie putt, which Lowry drained to get into the playoff.

RORY MCILROY! Shane Lowry has a chance to sink that putt to tie the lead. pic.twitter.com/hkma9BdZeK — Golf Digest (@GolfDigest) April 28, 2024

In the playoff, Ramey and Trainer’s rust showed. Two hours and 54 minutes after they finished their round, Trainer’s tee shot missed the fairway left. Despite getting a clean lie just short of the fairway bunker, Ramey yanked his 3-wood well left of the green.

Meanwhile, McIlroy’s tee shot found the fairway. Lowry’s approach came up just short, nestling into the greenside bunker. But they were still in decent shape.

Trainer chunked his third and Ramey chipped up near the hole, leaving a makable 5-footer for par.

McIlroy hit a decent bunker shot, which left his fellow Irishman with 10 feet for the win. But just like much of the week, Lowry’s putter failed him. He missed the putt just above the hole and it appeared as though a massive opportunity slipped away.

Moments later though, Trainer inexplicably missed his short par putt, sealing the victory for McIlroy and Lowry.

Zurich Classic of New Orleans - Final Round, Shane Lowry, Rory McIlroy

“Absolutely amazing. We’ve had an awesome week here in New Orleans. The crowds all week have been absolutely amazing. To get the support that we’ve had out there and to have so much fun while doing it, it’s been an awesome week, and obviously I feel like it’s just a bonus to win at the end,” McIlroy said.

“But couldn’t be better to have this man alongside me to get a PGA Tour win together.”

It likely was not the way they envisioned winning, but a victory is a victory, however it comes.

This was McIlroy’s first time playing in this event. He had such a great time and received such a warm welcome, that he already let everyone know his future plans.

“I’d say we’re going to come back and defend next year.”

In a much-needed boost, Lowry and McIlroy jumped to 12th and 15th respectively on the FedEx Cup points list with the win.

2024 Zurich Classic format and full field for the PGA Tour's team event

T he PGA Tour competes in its lone, official team event at this week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Here's how the tournament at TPC Louisiana works and who is competing.

Field size?

The are 160 players comprising 80 two-man teams.

How are the teams determined?

The Tour goes down its priority rankings. Players who commit to the tournament get to choose their partner as long as they have some kind of PGA Tour status or receive a sponsor exemption.

What is the format?

The teams will compete in fourballs (best ball) in Rounds 1 and 3, and in foursomes (alternate shot) in Rounds 2 and 4.

Is there a cut?

Yes. The top 33 teams and ties after 36 holes will qualify for the final two rounds.

What happens if there is a playoff after 72 holes?

The teams will compete in sudden-death, alternating formats (foursomes on the first extra hole; fourballs on the second extra hole; so forth).

What do the winners receive?

Both men will get a two-year exemption on Tour and spots in the PGA Championship and signature events, as well as next year's Sentry and Players Championship. It counts as an official Tour win for both players, though, no Official World Golf Ranking points are given.

Players will be paid out in an every-two-spots manner. So the winning team will evenly split first- and second-place earnings ($1,286,050 for each player) and first- and second-place FedExCup points (400 for each winner).
