Simone Biles takes center stage in the Gold Over America Tour

  • By Amari Apple
  • Sep 24, 2024

Simone Biles

Simone Biles , the celebrated Olympian and seven-time gold medalist, is captivating audiences across the United States with her Gold Over America Tour (GOAT). This 30-city tour features some of the most talented gymnasts in the world, including stars like Jordan Chiles and Frederick Richard, and aims to inspire both children and adults through a spectacular blend of gymnastics and entertainment.

A celebration of gymnastics and empowerment

The Gold Over America Tour kicked off last week in Oceanside, San Diego, where fans eagerly gathered to witness a dazzling display of athleticism and artistry. Biles describes the tour as a pop concert-style event, designed not just for competition but for pure enjoyment and family fun.  This tour is a celebration of the gymnastics community, especially following the U.S. gymnastics team’s remarkable success at the recent Paris Olympics.

High-energy performances

Audiences can expect a thrilling experience filled with high-energy choreography, intricate gymnastics routines and inspirational messages of hope and resilience. Biles, along with her fellow gymnasts, will showcase their skills through various performances that include everything from jaw-dropping tumbles to gravity-defying tricks. The tour is not just about showcasing athletic prowess; it’s also about celebrating the joy of movement and the importance of self-expression.

Empowering representation

One of the most significant aspects of the Gold Over America Tour is its focus on representation. Biles emphasizes the importance of showcasing diverse athletes, particularly as a petite Black woman in a sport that has historically lacked representation. This message of inclusivity is vital, as it encourages young athletes to embrace their uniqueness and pursue their dreams.

Fun over competition

Unlike traditional gymnastics competitions, the Gold Over America Tour prioritizes fun and entertainment. Expect vibrant costumes, lively dance sequences, and a festive atmosphere that combines elements of popular culture. Biles hinted at a special performance inspired by the recent Barbie movie, which is sure to be a hit among younger audiences.

Join the celebration

The Gold Over America Tour is more than just a series of performances; it’s a celebration of gymnastics, empowerment and community. With Biles at the helm, audiences can look forward to an unforgettable experience that combines athletic excellence with heartfelt messages. Follow the tour on social media @goldoveramericatour and visit their official website for more information.

In Pictures: Dierks Bentley wraps up the 2024 ‘Gravel & Gold’ tour

James Daykin

This past weekend, multi-Platinum artist Dierks Bentley concluded his highly successful 2024 GRAVEL & GOLD TOUR, presented by Jersey Mike’s, with a final show in Milwaukee, WI. Since kicking off in June, Bentley performed over 30 shows across the U.S., including a standout night at Red Rocks and an “epic country music celebration” at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena earlier this month, according to The Tennessean.

Dierks Bentley

Praised for his dynamic stage presence, Bentley delivered a concert experience that blended hit songs, energetic performances, and intentional audience engagement. Billboard noted Bentley’s ability to outshine many newcomers with his onstage ebullience and connection with fans. The tour featured direct support from Lee Brice or Chase Rice, along with a rotating lineup of special guests including Zach Top, Graham Barham, Tyler Braden, and more.

Fans were treated to diverse setlists that spanned Bentley’s two-decade career, from his debut single ‘What Was I Thinkin' to newer tracks like ‘Gold' and ‘Something Real' from his GRAVEL & GOLD album. Bentley also covered country and bluegrass greats, including his popular reimagining of Tom Petty’s ‘American Girl,' which is currently climbing the charts.

Dierks Bentley

With electrifying production touches, including a massive LED wall, and a surprise appearance from Hot Country Knights, Bentley kept crowds energised as they sang along to fan favourites like ‘Friends in Low Places' and ‘Man! I Feel Like A Woman.”'

Dierks Bentley

The 2024 GRAVEL & GOLD TOUR will be remembered for its high energy, musical variety, and Bentley’s ability to captivate audiences across the country. We wonder if we will ever see Bentley cross the pond ever again after his brief dalliance with Europe, almost 10 years ago now.

James Daykin

Legendary guitarist and songwriter Dave Mason has canceled his upcoming U.S. tour dates following the discovery of a serious heart condition.

The co-founder of the iconic British rock band Traffic is undergoing immediate medical treatment, with doctors advising him to pause all tour activity.

In a statement released on his official website, Mason’s team shared the news: ‘We are sorry to inform you Dave Mason has a serious heart condition detected in a routine appointment that requires immediate attention. His team of doctors has advised against all tour activity, and therefore we have canceled his Fall tour.’

The 78-year-old musician expressed his disappointment over the cancellations, particularly for fans in California and Nevada who were anticipating his performances.

‘I’m heartbroken to have to cancel these dates, but it’s doctor’s orders,’ Mason said in a personal statement.

However, he reassured his followers that this is not a permanent farewell: ‘I’ll be back, and better than ever, in 2025.’

Mason is expected to return to the stage the following year if his recovery goes according to plan.

Dave Mason first began his music career in the late 1960s when he co-founded Traffic alongside Steve Winwood, drummer Jim Capaldi, and multi-instrumentalist Chris Wood.

The band, which blended rock with elements of jazz and psychedelia, quickly gained a devoted fanbase.

They released their debut album, Mr. Fantasy, in 1967, with Mason a major contributor to the establishment of their sound.

Dave Mason

As a songwriter, Mason penned one of Traffic’s most famous hits, Feelin’ Alright?, which was later covered by a host of legendary artists, including Joe Cocker, Three Dog Night, and The Jackson 5.

After appearing on Traffic’s first two albums (Mr. Fantasy and Traffic), Mason left the band to pursue a solo career.

Over the years, he collaborated with many prominent musicians, including Jimi Hendrix, with whom he famously played on the recording of All Along the Watchtower, as well as George Harrison, Paul McCartney, and Eric Clapton.

Traffic’s impact on the music world was recognized in 2004 when the band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
