Filip Travel

Filip travel reviews.

Osoblje u hotelu srdačno I servilno. Beba i Nina

A very last minute reservation that ended as a great experience. Park Beach hotel in Limassol Cyprus and Filip Travel were the reason I had one of the most relaxing, revitalising and fun summer holidays. Thank you for your efficient and organized assistance (especially Vesna, Jelena). Highly recommended.

Good agency, but tourist guides not so recommendable. All the best for Nemanja and experience in Calabria.

Platio 11 dana 10 noci. Dobio 10 dana i kad se bunis nista. Neko mi ukrao dan koji sam platio. Uaaaa Filip Travel

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Moscow, a City Like No Other

Moscow is Russia’s largest city with a population of between 12 and 13 million. It is also Europe’s largest city and when you visit Moscow, you can feel it. The layout and architecture of the city is eclectic, ranging from crooked, ancient streets and alleyways to wide, bustling boulevards, from medieval churches to Stalin skyscrapers and to modern, glass buildings towering over everything and of course in the center of it all is the Kremlin and the magnificent Red Square. Moscow is also home to a fantastic, efficient and very beautiful metro system – each station having its own special design. In fact, Express to Russia’s Moscow metro tours and excursions are some of our most popular attractions that we offer. On our Moscow tours, you will see this and more.

Moscow Kremlin in the times of Ivan III

Moscow Tours centering on Russian History

Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. Our Moscow tours will enlighten you on this great history and give you insights into Muscovites and their unique culture. Our Moscow tours show you what the city is like today but also brings to life the past. Moscow never seems to sleep and is bursting with energy. A Moscow tour with Express to Russia is truly the best way of getting to know Russia’s largest and most vibrant city.

Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers

What is the best time to visit moscow.

Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. Summertime is pleasantly warm, ideal for exploring the city and its vibrant atmosphere, but Moscow will be much busier and accommodation is more expensive. Winter can be quite cold but beautiful nonetheless, and this is unproblematic if you intend to spend most of your trip in museums and galleries. There are also various festivals and events organised throughout the year. For more information about the best time to visit, read our guide

How many days are enough in Moscow?

If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. For an informative and well-organised day out, check out our Moscow day tours with options to suit all interests.

Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you. Inside the Vancouver Canucks’ team plane during a breakthrough season

Inside the Vancouver Canucks’ team plane during a breakthrough season

Flying on an NHL team’s charter plane is a one-of-a-kind experience. The amenities and perks are five-star. There’s a distinct camaraderie in traveling with teammates as well as some traditions and guidelines to consider.

Dressing for flights, for example, has quirks. The collective bargaining agreement requires that players wear jackets, ties and dress pants while traveling to and from games. But since teams are relaxed with this rule once players have boarded the plane, it can result in a hilarious scene minutes before takeoff.

“I remember my first (dad’s) trip (in the NHL), we get on the plane, all of a sudden guys start whipping their clothes off (and changing into sweats) and it’s like ‘What are you guys doing?’” said veteran defenseman Ian Cole .

“Long trips like three hours (or longer), you don’t wanna be sitting in your dress pants and a dress shirt,” he explained. “It’s pretty funny seeing 20 guys on the plane just shedding all their clothes as fast they can.”

Players then change back into their formal attire before deplaning. It’s just one example that shows how an NHL player’s charter plane experience isn’t a typical travel day.

As the Vancouver Canucks embark on the most pivotal trip of the year to date for Games 3 and 4 in Nashville of their first-round playoff series, here’s a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s been like on the team plane this season.

First-class seats, top-notch dining and special recovery tools

The Canucks are serviced by Air Canada’s Jetz division. Their aircraft features two first-class-sized seats on each row, two card tables and space in the exit row for recovery work. It’s comfy and spacious.

“Being a bigger guy, the bigger seats obviously are nice for me,” Tyler Myers said with a laugh. “We have the same flight attendants all year and they get to know you, you get to know them really well. They know exactly what we want when we get on the plane.”

Veteran players typically sit near the back, whereas players with fewer NHL seasons under their belt are farther up.

Brock Boeser explained that the team caters food from the airport when leaving Vancouver. During the rest of a road trip, plane meals are from a high-quality restaurant in the city where they’ve just played.

“The meals on the plane are nice, (especially) compared to stopping at the gas station after the games for food (in the minors),” said Dakota Joshua , who’s also experienced the much more unglamorous travel in the AHL and ECHL.

Some players like Conor Garland are fairly regimented about what they eat on board.

“I usually try to get a salad,” said Garland. “I don’t like the chopped salad but sometimes you gotta eat it. I eat the nuts, chopped salad and I bring my own coffee.”

Others like Phil Di Giuseppe like to rotate through dishes like steak, fish or pasta.

“Huggy’s ( Quinn Hughes ) by me and he’s always snacking on something,” said Boeser. “He’s a health nut.”

Another perk of flying on a charter aircraft is that the exit rows have space for players to do recovery work. This includes tools such as blood flow recovery (BFR) or Normatec technology, which is marketed to increase circulation and reduce delayed onset muscle soreness.

“BFR is good for your legs, you can jump on those for a bit, maybe for 25 minutes. You can lay down, stretch,” said Garland. “Anything you really need, they’ll get it for you on the plane recovery-wise.

“(Mark Cesari, Canucks strength and conditioning coach) and Alex Trinca (Canucks director of sports performance) are great, even if you have a question about like ‘What should I be drinking on the flight?’”

The card table: ‘Too much bickering’

How do Canucks players pass the time on flights? It varies.

Joshua tries to take a nap because he doesn’t like plane rides, but most players said they have trouble falling asleep.

“It takes you like 5-6 hours (after a game) to try to decompress and calm the central nervous system down,” said Cole. “There’s not a ton of sleeping going on unless it’s a long flight from one side of the continent to the other.”

There are book readers (such as Cole), movie watchers and players who rely on iPads to keep them entertained.

“Garly’s pretty chatty,” said Boeser. “He’ll always be in the aisle talking to other people. A guy that’s pretty dialed in on his laptop is Casey (DeSmith), I don’t know what he’s doing on there.”

“He’s pretty wild on the plane,” Joshua added about Garland.

There will usually be a group of Canucks playing cards for small sums of money, too.

“I’ve been on some teams where it (the money being wagered) gets real aggressive,” said Cole. “It’s not that aggressive here, which is good. We’ve got some boys trying to rein it in a little.”

The players have shuffled throughout the year, but Garland, Sam Lafferty , Filip Hronek and Pius Suter were at the card table early in the season playing a game called 13 Up.

“The highlight of the trips is getting to laugh at the card table,” said Garland. “In Arizona, my card table was my three best friends. it’s been new this year with guys you didn’t know before. Usually you end up going for dinner with those guys because you end up making plans on the plane.”

J.T. Miller and Boeser retired from the card table after spending most of last season with the group.

“(We were) taking too much of their money,” Di Giuseppe joked when asked why Miller and Boeser left. “No, I think they were saying they were playing for so long that they wanted to watch some movies. Maybe it was because of me.”

“Too much bickering,” Boeser said with a smile, explaining his departure.

Garland claimed that he’s been cleaning up this season because the newcomers aren’t very good.

“We have a bad table,” he said. “Last year, Millsy’s a really good player, (Jack) Studnicka was a good player. Boes is OK. This year they’re bad, so it’s pretty easy.” He acknowledged that Di Giuseppe’s “not bad.”

“I’m surprised he said I wasn’t bad, usually he gives it to me,” Di Giuseppe said with a chuckle.

“After a game, I like playing at the table because we’ll dissect the game. That’s another way to flush it out is if it’s good, everyone’s happy and you’re shooting the you know what. And if it’s bad, you just kinda let out the demons.”

The Nintendo Switch turned movie club

At the start of the season, Boeser bought Nintendo Switches and formed a group that would play a PGA Golf video game. Miller and Elias Pettersson were the other regulars, with Myers and Thatcher Demko joining once in a while, according to Boeser.

“It’s one of the only games that most guys would enjoy and play against each other,” said Boeser. “We’re all even right now. Nobody gives strokes yet.”

They still play every so often but over the season, it’s transitioned into a movie club.

“Millsy and Brock were just so much better than everybody else that they just kinda cut us out. They were just being really bad guys doing that,” Myers laughed. “Movie club kind of took over.”

The players will synchronize their iPads together to start a film at the same time. They take turns choosing the movie.

Who’s the best and worst at picking them?

“Best is between Demmer and I. Worst is between Brock and Millsy,” said Myers. “Millsy is a good movie guy but he has a tough time grasping the concept of what types of movies we’re trying to bring into movie club.

“Demmer and I seem to be quality control and Brock isn’t as familiar with movies so he tends to bring in a lot of random ones that probably would never make Demmer and I’s list.”

Forgotten passports and unwritten rules

Most of the Canucks’ plane rides are routine, but The Athletic was curious if the players could share any funny or unique travel tales from this season.

Boeser immediately turned when he heard the question, stared at Joshua in his dressing room stall and smiled: “Just Dak holding us up this year for 45 minutes.”

“Who forgot their passport?” Brock continued while still looking at Joshua.

“Bainsey! (Arshdeep Bains),” Joshua replied.

“Yeah, Bainsey, we had a preseason game going to Seattle and he forgot his passport so that was pretty funny,” said Boeser.

Speaking of passports, crossing the border and clearing customs is something players like to groan about because it adds another layer (and time) to the trip.

“If (it’s another Canadian team) you’re just pulling up to the plane but since you gotta go over the border it’s more of a hassle. It’s not that bad, but we like to complain about it,” said Joshua.

Once players board the plane, there are a couple of unwritten rules for etiquette.

“You can’t take a poop on the plane,” said Cole.

Cole also said that when the team gets off the plane or bus they’ll typically exit from the back forward, with veteran players off first.

“But it’s also not a hard and fast rule,” he explained. “If someone steps up and goes, whatever. Or if someone’s taking a while, guys go, it’s never like a ‘Hey, you guys need to wait.’”

Vancouver’s travel over an 82-game schedule is grueling, with substantially longer flights on average compared to Eastern Conference teams. For example, the trip between Vancouver and Nashville is by far the longest distance of any first-round series. Their travel situation is a disadvantage the Canucks have to accept, but they try to make the most of it.

“It’s a pretty chill group, we’re not the ’86 Mets on the plane, you know?” Joshua said with a laugh.
”We just go about the business, get on and get off.”

With the Canucks arriving in Tennessee on Wednesday, they’re preparing for arguably their biggest challenge yet. Many of Vancouver’s core players will be playing in front of an intimidating road playoff crowd for the first time, Demko remains out with an injury and the series is tied 1-1 after a Game 2 loss .

It’s a season-defining trip — and the result will swing the mood of the flight home to Vancouver after Sunday’s Game 4 for better or worse.

Billionaire investor Howard Marks says AI's impact doesn't make it immune to a crash

  • AI is transformative, but it's hard to determine its stock winners, Howard Marks told CNBC.
  • "Every bubble starts from widespread conviction," he said.
  • Many are betting on an AI wave to lift a number of sectors, from semiconductors to infrastructure.

Insider Today

Artificial intelligence might end up changing the world, but that alone can't determine the success of its underlying assets, Howard Marks said.

"Every bubble starts from widespread conviction," the market veteran told CNBC on Tuesday. "Everybody believes A, they bid the beneficiaries of A up to the moon. It turns out, it's overdone."

When it comes to AI, Marks acknowledged the technology's transformative potential, and he himself can't say whether its beneficiaries are already under or overvalued.

Related stories

But instead, AI investing reminded him of the internet's emergence 25 years ago, which also propelled markets sky-high:

"Everybody was sure that the internet would change the world. And it did," he said, but added: "And yet the internet and E-commerce stocks that were the beneficiaries of that thinking in the TMT bubble of the late 90s — the vast majority are now worthless."

"So to say well, I think that AI will be very important, that's the easy part," the billionaire investor said. "But knowing how it should be reflected in portfolios that's the hard part."

But forecasters are trying to meet this challenge. Just last week, Goldman Sachs outlined the sectors it thinks will win out in the long-term , from semiconductor producers to security software developers.

Meanwhile, Wall Street's other heavy hitters have voiced their own predictions. That includes the "Big Short" investor Steve Eisman, who is betting big on infrastructure to get a boost from AI's electricity demand .

And looking at more immediate impacts, Bank of America raised its S&P 500 target last month , citing AI spending as a significant driver of growth.

But Marks has generally demonstrated cynicism towards those who make macro predictions, and warned against relying too much on Wall Street forecasts — recently calling the practice an "organized religion."

"Prices are not necessarily right, they're just the best consensus can do," he said in a speech this week .

Reliability top priority for ferry operator DFDS as it looks to bid for Channel Islands tender

  • Wednesday 24 April 2024 at 6:38pm

filip travel jevrejska

ITV Channel's Fred Dimbleby has been hearing from the company that wants to take over ferry services for the Channel Islands. Picture courtesy of DFDS

Ferry operator DFDS Seaways says reliability will be at the centre of any contract bid as it looks to run passenger and freight services for Jersey and Guernsey .

Filip Hermann, Vice President at DFDS Seaways, says: "It's clearly both urgent and frustrating to the islanders without that so I think whatever we design, we have to put that first.

"We just need to get that right. Then I'm sure there'll be other things popping up afterwards, where we could use all of the DFDS, like onboard services, our fantastic crew and all of these things. But first of all, we need to get reliability in place."

DFDS was named as Europe's leading ferry operator at the World Travel Awards, transporting 4.5 million passengers in 2023.

The company has held the first of two public meetings to discuss what islanders are looking for and has asked an Australian manufacturer to design a 72-meter hybrid electric ferry that could be used on its routes.

At the session in Jersey, frustrations with the current operator Condor were raised, such as delays, cancellations and schedule changes.

Holiday business owner Roger Le Maistre says: "We have lost a lot of customers. When the schedule came out in September we lost nearly 30% of our bookings for the self-catering for this year. It's quite massive."

Another attendee adds: "Let's hope they do put a tender in, if not just to make Condor more competitive."

But not everyone is convinced : "It is going to be the same just a different company, same issues, same problems, same engine problems, same engine problems, problems weather related, it will be the same just a different name."

Condor did not respond to ITV News's repeated requests for comment but it has previously said that it is confident it is "the right choice going forward" and will bid to renew its deal.

Condor's current contract for the Channel Islands is due to end in March 2025.

If there was any doubt left that Condor and Brittany Ferries had a competition on their hands, that has gone.

The tender has still not been published, but DFDS are already trying to build relationships with the public across the islands.

The operator hopes to show it can be trusted to take over these lifeline services.

The main demand from that public in a heated meeting last night was clear: reliability.

There was little interest in DFDS' onboard service or green credentials, rather a seemingly simple wish for the boats to run on time and on schedule.

The company is at the very start of this process and unable to give much detail on what their bid would look like, which will be when they are ultimately tested.

But it is clear from that meeting that DFDS is up for the fight.

Lucky? Good? Doesn't matter. It's now the Nashville Predators' series to lose | Estes

filip travel jevrejska

The Nashville Predators were sore, but happy, as they prepared to fly back across North America, knowing that the reception will be friendly after they land.

Tuesday night was fun and difficult and a lot to digest.

They were lucky. They were also good. Not that the difference matters.

When you’d gone 1,066 days without a playoff victory, there's no quarrel with how it happened.

With a wacky, deflected goal on one end and brave defending on the other. Blocked shots and bruises all night, frustrating the Vancouver Canucks.

With a puck that somehow pinballed and fluttered off the post, and a flash of brilliance by your best forward. Filip Forsberg finally made his moment, and he didn’t miss.

With an unfortunate injury to the other team’s star goalie, and a vintage performance from yours. As the pressure kept accelerating, Juuse Saros got sturdier.

Lucky? No doubt.

But good enough.

And all those buzzwords in between: Toughness. Relentlessness. Identity.

The Predators needed it all for this gritty 4-1 victory over the Canucks , and now, the momentum of their deadlocked first-round series has shifted, bound for Bridgestone Arena and Friday’s Game 3.

Suddenly, the Predators have the series in their building and on their sticks.

To advance, the Canucks will have to win at least one game in Smashville, and they’ll likely have to do it without Thatcher Demko. One of the NHL’s best goalies, Demko was evidently injured at some point during or after Game 1 . His continued absence would be a massive blow to playoff hopes for the Canucks, who turned to backup Casey DeSmith for Game 2.

It was a break for the Predators, but they’d still have to improve on a lackluster Game 1 performance .

They did, but it wasn't easy.

The Predators’ 16 shots on goal were their fewest in a game all season, a continued indication of how the Canucks keep stymieing a foe that was eighth in the league in shots per game.

Of the four shots that found the net, one was the early deflection credited to Anthony Beauvillier (two of these Predators’ first three playoff goals were by players picked up midseason by GM Barry Trotz) and one was an empty netter at the end. Within two minutes in the second period, a special goal by Forsberg was followed by Colton Sissons’ rebound shot past DeSmith for a 3-0 lead.

Beyond that, what Nashville was lacking in skill and possession was made up for by Saros and the gumption in front of him.

The Canucks had only 18 shots on goal, which was the fewest the Predators have allowed in a game all season. But it wasn’t for a lack of trying. Vancouver swarmed. It just couldn’t get enough pucks to Saros. The Predators’ 30-8 edge in blocked shots made the difference.

“We were committed to the pain,” Predators coach Andrew Brunette told reporters. “I think (that was) something that maybe Game 1, we learned from a little bit. Maybe we weren't quite as committed to the pain.”

Sounds unpleasant, but that’s how you even a series on the road.

On to Bridgestone.

A twyla tharp world premiere is part of northrop's 2024-25 dance season.

The preeminent Twyla Tharp, known for her ballet, modern and vernacular dance innovation, brings a world premiere to the Northrop in Minneapolis next year. Tharp's 60 years as a choreographer will be marked with Beethoven's "Diabelli Variations" and Philip Glass' "Aguas da Amazonia" with live music from the Chicago-based Third Coast Percussion.

The Twyla Tharp Dance program on Jan. 26 is among the highlights of Northrop's 2024-25 season, which includes a second world premiere, two Northrop Centennial Commissions, six dance engagements, five music series events and a film series.

"She's one of my artistic heroes," says Northrop's director of programming, Kristen Brogdon, about Tharp. "I'm so excited that we can host the premiere of that piece."

Besides Tharp's, the other world premiere in the upcoming season is "Children of Dharma," a Northrop Centennial commission by Ragamala Dance Company. Ragamala had to cancel its performance of "Avimukta: Where the Seeker Meets the Sacred" this spring when the Cowles Center announced its closing. The company will host a gala event on May 4 at the Center for Performing Arts for its upcoming performance that will be on the Carlson Family Stage Nov. 2.

Ragamala's new piece finds inspiration from an ancient Indian epic, the Mahabharata. "They're looking at it as a global story about the impact that violence has on people on a very individual level," Brogdon says, adding that the new piece has eco-feminism themes.

The return of two standout groups is also in the upcoming lineup. One is Shamel Pitts' "Tribe," which Northrop and the Walker Art Center have teamed up to support for a three-year engagement. (The choreographer brought his mesmerizing "Black Hole" to the Walker in March.) He and his interdisciplinary troupe will perform a duet called "Touch of Red," inspired by the quick footwork used in boxing, on March 6, 2025.

BalletMet, from Columbus, Ohio, also returns after gracing Northrop earlier this month when the company presented a gut-wrenching duet by Edwaard Liang as part of "10,000 Dreams: A Celebration of Asian Choreography." When it performs on March 28, 2025, the company will do another work by Liang, inspired by Max Richter's recomposition of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons." BalletMet will also perform "Timeless Tide" a Northrop Centennial commission by Yue Yin, set to an original score by Michel Banabila.

Two crowd-pleasers return to the Northrop, as well: Dance Theatre of Harlem performs classic and neoclassical works on Sept. 27 and a relaxed matinee on Sept. 28. The season ends with American Ballet Theatre's presentation of the Romantic tragedy "Giselle" on April 18-19, 2025.

Northrop also continues its fruitful collaboration with Liquid Music next season. On Oct. 4, the series highlights BBC Jazz Award-winning keyboardist Kit Downes playing Northrop's Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ. He'll play with guitarist Bill Frisell and a small ensemble of string players from the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra for "Southern Bodies."

Liquid Music and Northrop also present its latest "Sun Dogs" offering pairing composers and filmmakers, with four film/new music pairings including one commission for organ, electronics and sampled vocals by Daniel Wohl and performances by the contemporary classical chamber group Alarm Will Sound.

Other offerings in the new season include a performance by Northrop's to-be-named resident artist organist, two performances by VocalEssence, and the University of Minnesota's Marching Band. Organist Aaron David Miller will accompany the Buster Keaton classic "The Cameraman," and organist Filip Presseisen makes his Northrop debut accompanying Carl Theodor Dreyer's silent film "The Passion of Joan of Arc."
