ALL JOURNEY CHURCH CAMPUSES ARE NOW OPEN

With the release of the local safe at home order, and with prayerful consideration, we are excited to open our campuses . If you are deciding to attend an in-person worship service, we are committed to creating an environment that meets government recommendations to make every effort to protect our communities. We also respect each person’s effort to stay safe. Wearing a mask or not is completely okay during worship gatherings. Our buildings will be limited to 25% occupancy in the campus auditoriums. To facilitate capacity we are asking that you would RSVP starting June 1 every Monday at noon . We will make every effort to continue social distancing during this time. Journey Kids and Journey Youth will be online only . We encourage you to make the best choice for your family and the situation as you consider attending a physical location or continuing to worship at Journey Church Online .

Even though this time has been difficult for many, we desire to bring the hope of Jesus to everyone and every circumstance. Journey Church online will still continue. Whether you decide to attend in-person or online, both will be a great experience for you and your family.

If you do not feel well, we ask that you would stay home and watch Journey Church Online in an effort to keep everyone safe.

WHAT IS JOURNEY CHURCH DOING TO STAY SAFE?

• Additional hand-sanitizing stations will be placed throughout the building.
• All Journey Church services will be as touch-free as possible providing hosts to open doors and give you the safest experience.
• Journey Kids and Journey Youth will not be available at this time, however, we will have space available for nursing mothers.
• No water fountains will be open or usable.
• No cafe food or beverages (coffee & donuts) will be offered.
• No offering buckets will be passed. Instead, there will be stations in the lobby for guests who want to give in person. We recommend online giving at this time.
• To reduce touchpoints connect cards, pens, and offering envelopes will not be available in seating areas. Connect with us digitally at jrnychurch.com/start .
• Seating in the auditorium will be every other row.
• Lobby tables and furniture will be at least six feet apart.

WHAT CAN I DO?

• If you don’t feel well or have health concerns, please stay home and join us online.
• Please wash your hands, use hand sanitizer often, and use proper methods with a sneeze or cough (into your arm, not your hands).
• Maintain a distance of six or more feet between yourself and other guests.
• Please respect the personal health decisions of others.

WILL THERE BE RESERVATIONS FOR WEEKEND SERVICES?

At this time, our in-person worship services require an RSVP so we can safely handle the number of people in each campus.

ARE YOU REQUIRING OR RECOMMENDING THAT PEOPLE WEAR MASKS?

We welcome anyone who chooses to wear masks or other personal protection equipment. Masks are not mandatory to attend a service.

WILL TEMPERATURE CHECKS BE REQUIRED?

At this time, we are not requiring temperature checks. We are asking all guests to not attend if you have a fever of 100.4 or flu-like symptoms.

WILL JOURNEY CHURCH ONLINE STILL BE AVAILABLE?

Journey Church Online is a great option if you want to invite a friend to join you! Each week at 9:00 and 11:00 am you can join us online to experience worship, the message, and the community of your church family through live chat and prayer. You can also watch many of our past messages and connect with others with our social media platforms and our Journey Church App . We have seen many people watch Journey Church Online who have been attending Journey for many years as well as those who have never been to Journey. We will still continue to tell people about Jesus whether they join us online or attend in person.

WHAT ABOUT JOURNEY KIDS AND JOURNEY YOUTH PROGRAMS?

At this time, Journey Kids and Journey Youth will not be available at any of our locations. We hope to meet again soon! Until then, your entire family is welcome to attend church with you in the auditorium, and we encourage you to continue teaching your kids about Jesus using the Journey Kids YouTube channel, and Journey Youth YouTube channel. Right Now Media is also a great way for your kids to watch content specifically centered around Jesus. Faith at Home is a great option for families with specifically made content for your kids.

WHAT ABOUT THOSE WHO ARE CONSIDERED MORE VULNERABLE OR CARING FOR THOSE WHO ARE?

If you’re vulnerable for any reason, we are encouraging you to remain home. If you have any symptoms of sickness or have been around anyone who has shown symptoms, we ask you to remain home from all Journey Church campus locations for at least 10 days.

What can I expect?

How long is a journey church service.

In total, a Journey Church service is about 60 minutes in length . Services begin with the Journey Church worship team leading in music - song lyrics are projected onto the screens so you can sing along and/or engage with worship however you feel most comfortable. After the music portion of service is complete, one of our pastors will come out to share an encouraging message.

WHAT'S THE CULTURE LIKE AT JOURNEY CHURCH?

Sundays at Journey are exciting, casual, and relaxed. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest.

WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?

We believe that kids should have a blast at church every single week - and at Journey Church, we make this a priority. Our vision for Children's ministry is that your kids would not only have a blast but also have their hearts and minds focused upon Jesus. The other thing we make a priority is your children’s safety. Because of that, make sure to leave yourself some extra time before service to get your kids checked in -and so we can get to know them!

Location and Services

Our History

Journey Church has roots in Orange County’s story that go way back to 1902. Those early tent meetings and rented spaces were ditched for a building in 1905 and became Northside Church in Santa Ana. In 1997, the church moved in with a then 25-year-old First Christian Church in Irvine and became Creekside Christian Fellowship—only to change its name AGAIN (this is starting to sound like a modern family, right?) to Journey Church in 2011.

We have always reflected the spirit of Orange County in being self-governed and autonomous. That means there is freedom as a church family to sense God’s leading and follow it without a lot of bureaucracy and denominational red tape. Since the beginning, the focus has stayed the same: to learn from Jesus how to live the life we were made for; to help families thrive and marriages flourish; and to serve the needy and hurting in our larger community.

Journey has learned to do this by accepting people where they are spiritually, and giving them space to move at their own pace. We’ve learned that being real with each other matters more than pretending we’ve got it all together. And above all, we’ve learned that what everybody is really looking for is to be loved as we are by friends who stick with us on every part of life’s journey—the good, the bad, and the ugly. It’s our hope that your story can include ours, and together with Jesus we can make a difference in our world.

What We Believe

Journey Church adheres to some fundamental beliefs as described in the Bible. We are a non-denominational church and as such take direction from the leadership of elders chosen by the members here at Journey. We support doctrines which empower us to know and experience God and His plan for our lives. We live the Christian life through the power of the Holy Spirit, and are called to share the Good News of Jesus through our words and actions, acting as God’s vessels to spread His love and compassion to all mankind.

In light of this, these are the essential doctrines we believe in:

The Trinity

We believe God exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that He is a being unimaginably wonderful power, goodness, and love. Psalm 118:1, Psalm 145:1-9 Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14

We believe the world exists because God created it, that it belongs to Him and therefore we should cherish and care for it. Genesis 1:1, Psalm 24:1-2, Isaiah 40:25-26, 1 Corinthians 10:26

We believe all human beings have dignity, because they were created by God in His own image, and great worth, because they are valued by God beyond our ability to measure. Genesis 1:1, Psalm 24:1-2, Isaiah 40:25-26, 1 Corinthians 10:26

We believe this world also has pain and suffering because human beings have fallen and sinned, and are estranged from God, from each other, from ourselves, and from creation. Genesis 3:17, Romans 3:23, Colossians 1:21, Titus 3:3

God’s Redemptive Plan

We believe God does not intend for sin and suffering to get the last word, but is at work to redeem and reconcile what He has made. Isaiah 11:6-9, Colossians 1:21-23, Revelation 21:1-5

We believe God has expressed Himself uniquely in His Son, Jesus, who lived, taught, died, and rose again for our sakes. Jesus is our master and teacher and savior and friend, and now reigns forever with the Father and the Holy Spirit. John 14:6-7, Acts 2:32, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Ephesians 2:13, Colossians 1:15-20, Philippians 2:5-11, 1 Timothy 2:5-6

We believe regeneration by the Holy Spirit is necessary for people to be reconciled to God. Justification is solely by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Our faith response by which we surrender to Christ includes turning from sin and testifying to our faith publicly in baptism. Through our faith response we become part of God’s family and receive eternal life. John 3:16-17; 5:24; Romans 3:21-26; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:3-7; Matthew 28:19-20

We believe God has revealed the truth about Himself in the scriptures of the Old and new Testament, which are our unique and authoritative guides in faith and action. Matthew 4:4, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, 1 Timothy 3:16

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Spirit of God is now available so we can be closer to God than the air we breathe. John 14:26, Acts 1:8, Romans 8:26, Galatians 3:14, Ephesians 1:13-14

We believe the Church is the community through which God wants to bring love, healing, and growth to the human race, to which He invites everyone who is willing to follow Jesus to join. Matthew 18:18-20, John 1:12-13, Acts 1:8, Galatians 3:28, 1 Peter 2:9

We live in hope because one day Jesus will return, love and justice will prevail, and God will set the world right. Matthew 24:30-31, Luke 12:40, Romans 8:37-39, Revelation 21:1-5
