Visiting Thailand in July

The exact date for many holidays and festivals in Thailand is determined by the lunar calendar, but two important events usually fall in July. The first is Asahna Bucha which commemorates the day on which the Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon. The second event comes on the day after Asahna Bucha and is known as Wan Khao Phansa . This day marks the start of the Phansa rains retreat period for monks. Lasting for three months, this is sometimes referred to as Buddhist Lent and is a popular time for Thai boys and men to become temporarily ordained as monks. It’s also a time when Thai Buddhists donate candles to their local temple. Before the advent of electricity, monks restricted travel during the rains retreat period. With the monks spending most of their time studying scriptures within the confines of the temple, they relied on candles for light. Over the years this simple act of donating candles has developed into colourful parades. The parading of candles to temples takes place at various locations around Thailand, but the biggest and most elaborate event takes place in Ubon Ratchathani in north-east Thailand.

Although June marks the start of the rainy season for many areas of Thailand it’s usually in July, particularly the latter part of the month, when rainfall levels steadily begin to increase. That certainly doesn’t mean your trip is going to be ruined by the weather and it can still be an excellent month to visit especially if you are exploring inland areas of Thailand. You can expect to see some rain wherever you travel to in Thailand in July, but downpours tend to be short and sharp with lengthy spells of sunshine mixed in amongst the showers. The wettest months of the rainy season are normally August and September rather than June and July. Average minimum and maximum temperatures in July are consistently high throughout Thailand. Humidity levels are high too and it’s important to keep hydrated and even on cloudy days it’s wise to practise good sun safety.

Which is the best Thai island or beach resort to visit in July?

If you look at the weather table above you’ll notice that the statistics show that the Gulf Coast of Thailand (e.g. Hua Hin , Ko Samui ) sees much less rainfall in July compared to the opposite Andaman Coast (e.g. Krabi , Phuket ). And over on the Eastern Seaboard, there are vast differences in the amount of rainfall with Ko Chang seeing an abundance and Pattaya relatively little. You can be lucky or unlucky with the weather during your visit in July, but the better weather on the islands can generally be found on Ko Samui, Ko Pha Ngan , Ko Tao and Ko Samet . For beaches on the mainland, Hua Hin, Cha Am, Pranburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Khanom and Pattaya are all good choices.

If you’re visiting the southern islands, particularly in the Andaman Sea, pay attention to any red warning flags which prohibit swimming. There are fatalities every year during the rainy season when visitors ignore the warnings and get into difficulty because of unpredictable swells and riptides. Jellyfish are also a potential hazard at some beaches during the rainy season. Warning signs are posted on beaches and at hotels when there is a risk.

Some boat services to the smaller islands in the Andaman don’t operate in July and some attractions, such as the Emerald Cave at Ko Mook in Trang , are off limits to visitors until October.

• Asahna Bucha Day (usually falls in July) – public holiday in Thailand commemorating the day on which the Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon over 2,500 years ago.
• Wan Khao Phansa – falls the day after Asahna Bucha and marks the start of the three-month long Phansa rains retreat. The retreat period ends in October with Awk Phansa .
• Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival – associated with Asahna Bucha and Buddhist Lent.

I moved to Bangkok in 1999, a time when most visitors to Thailand reluctantly did a night in this megacity before beelining to an island or the north. Synonymous with traffic jams, pollution and urban sprawl, the Thai capital was largely seen as an unwanted but obligatory stopover.

Decades later, things have changed and Bangkok is now the destination of choice for many visitors – with good reason. Easier to get around and cleaner than ever, with a vibrant eating and drinking scene that caters to just about every budget and an enviable spread of intriguing sights and fantastic-value shopping, the city has more to offer than ever before.

Yet like any big city, Bangkok has its quirks and surprises. Here's what you need to know before you go.

Bangkok is easier to get around than ever

Bangkok used to be synonymous with traffic jams and air pollution. The jams still happen, but the good news is that the city’s public transportation system has grown immensely. The various above and underground rail networks currently unite 10 different lines – with more in the works – and 192 stations, including trains linking both of Bangkok’s international airports and the city center.

On top of this, taxis remain ubiquitous and cheap – though subject to the issues that make the city’s traffic so infamous – while quirky public transportation systems such as the city’s river and canal taxis provide a slow but steady (and scenic) way to get around.

Crime happens but it's rare

Thailand has a low crime rate and is generally considered a safe country. Bangkok suffers from the same type of violent crimes as any big city, but anecdotally, is considered a safe place. Apart from occasional bag snatching and theft, the most dangerous thing in the city is its traffic (Thailand’s roads are some of the deadliest of any country). Solo women travelers and locals I’ve spoken to also report feeling safe in the city.

A particular Bangkok annoyance is scams directed at tourists. These typically involve taxi drivers who refuse to use their meters, or tuk-tuk drivers and/or well-dressed, English-speaking men who appear out of nowhere offering free tours that inevitably lead to dodgy gem shops or tailors. The good news is that most of these situations are easy to spot and relatively low-pressure; if something seems off, simply walk away.

It’s also worth noting that Bangkok’s police don’t have a great reputation. Steer clear of them unless you really need help.

Street food isn’t the only good food

Western chefs and food media have been raving about Bangkok’s street food for more than a decade. And it’s a fun, often delicious way to eat. But if you relegated yourself to street food alone, you’d miss the entire scope of Bangkok’s cuisine.

Supplement those streetside noodles with meals at the charming, decades-old restaurants in the old town – these are the places that get the most praise in the Thai-language media. In Bangkok’s newer districts, such as along Thanon Sukhumvit, consider a Japanese meal – the city is home to one of the largest populations of Japanese people outside of Japan.

If your budget allows, consider a splurge restaurant. While the rest of the world was obsessing over its street food, Bangkok's dining scene went in the opposite direction and today is home to several modern, cutting-edge upscale restaurants.

Sometimes it's too hot to handle

Bangkok is one of the hottest capital cities in the world, with an average mean temperature of 29°C (84°F). This heat is compounded by intense humidity and the urban environment, which reflects and retains heat, meaning the city often feels much, much ( much ) hotter. April is Bangkok's hottest month, with an average daily max temperature of 35°C (96 ° F) and during the “winter” in December and January, temperatures rarely dip below 20°C (68°F).

All of this means you shouldn't try to cover too much ground on foot – an already difficult task given the city’s lack of pedestrian infrastructure. If you do walk, learn the technique of regularly ducking into air-conditioned malls, hotel lobbies and 7-Elevens to cool off.

Likewise, pack light clothing, but remember – Thais are conservative when it concerns showing skin in public and Bangkok is not the beach.

Bangkok is a queer-friendly city

LGBTIQ+ people are made to feel welcome in Bangkok, which is generally considered Asia’s most queer-friendly city. The epicenter of the gay scene is Thanon Silom, especially in and around Soi 4, which is ostensibly Asia’s biggest queer nightlife area.

Thankfully, it looks like this queer-friendly vibe will extend to legislation. In 2023, the Thai parliament passed draft bills on same-sex marriage, which are expected to become laws, making Thailand the first country in Southeast Asia to allow same-sex marriage.

Keep in mind that public displays of affection between people of any gender are frowned upon in Thailand.

There are better budget options than Khao San Road

If you want to be based in the world’s most famous backpacker strip – and all that that entails – book a bed or room on Thanon Khao San, generally known as Khao San Road. It’s lively and fun, and provides easy access to the city’s old town.

But having moved slightly upscale in recent decades, Khao San Road no longer represents the best value area to stay in Bangkok. And with loud bars and a boozy vibe, it’s definitely not the most peaceful place to stay.

If you want to have access to the backpacker amenities but don’t want the noise and hassle, consider staying in the streets nearby, such as Thanon Rambutri or Thanon Phra Athit.

Monsoon season brings sudden surprises

During the annual monsoon, from approximately May to October, Bangkok’s streets occasionally turn into rivers. During this time of year, don’t be surprised if you have to camp out on an elevated street corner or in a 7-Eleven until the waters recede.

Malls are part of city life

While shopping malls are a dying breed in much of the west, they’re thriving in Bangkok. The city is home to some of the most over-the-top shopping centers in the world, which in contemporary Bangkok, have a dual function as (conveniently air-conditioned) social centers. Thais gather at the city’s more than 500 shopping centers to chat, eat, take selfies and occasionally make purchases, and so should you.

Bangkok essentially shuts down during the Thai New Year

Every year around April, Bangkok grinds to a halt during Thai New Year, known as Songkran or the water festival. The tradition has its origins in the cleansing role of water, but these days it essentially means that Bangkok becomes ground zero to a multi-day, raucous water battle.

Whether you're into it or not, you’ll be splashed with water and/or smeared with baby powder. Don’t even attempt stepping outside your door with your Sunday best on and don’t expect your favorite restaurant, or that museum or monument to be open (shopping centers, inevitably, will be operating). Weed isn’t exactly legal in Bangkok

In June 2022, marijuana and hemp were removed from the Category 5 narcotics list in Thailand. However, there are still many restrictions and smoking marijuana in public is not legal and is not recommended.

Yes, there's a sex industry, but it's easy to avoid

“One Night in Bangkok” is indeed a reality. But if you steer clear of the main red-light zones at night – namely Thanon Patpong, Soi Nana and Soi Cowboy – it's likely you won’t even witness this side of the city.

As July progresses, rainfall gradually increases in certain parts, especially during the latter part of the month. Koh Pha Ngan is always going to be a busy island all year round, although it’ll be pretty wet in July. However, since the nightlife here is very popular, the rain has never stopped party-goers from flocking to the island. No island in Thailand certainly comes close to hosting a party like Koh Phangan!

Asanha Bucha Day (July 16, 2019)

This is a public holiday in Thailand which celebrates the day that the Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon over 2,500 years ago. Ceremonies are held at large temples, where numerous monks gather to be ordained. Furthermore, peaceful candle-lit processions are held in different parts of the country, and food and candles are donated to local temples.

Wan Khao Phansa (July 17, 2019)

The day after Asanha Bucha marks the start of Wan Khao Phansa, a three-month-long Buddhist period of Lent. This is when monks retreat to temples to study and meditate. Moreover, It is also a sign of the commencement of the monsoon season. The retreat period ends in October with Wan Ok Phansa (October 13, 2019).

Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival

Associated with Asanha Bucha and Buddhist Lent, This festival shows the people’s devotion to Buddhist tradition as well as their skills in carving magnificent candles. Originally, a bundle of small candles was presented to the monks, but over time, people started to carve the candles into beautiful shapes.

In many ways the weather in Thailand in July is just a continuation of what most of the country has seen in June . Both the north and south of Thailand see about the same temperature range and similar or slightly heavier levels of rainfall. The southeast islands, notably Ko Samui , Ko Pha Ngan and Ko Tao are good destinations in July , though do expect a bit of rain and wind. On the other hand, Ko Chang near Cambodia and the Andaman coast both see considerably heavier rain in July. See below for detailed climate charts and regional weather variations across the country.

July is wet throughout most of Thailand, but splashes of sunshine make the jungles of Khao Yai , Umphang and Nan absolutely breathtaking. Waterfalls that were dry back in May now crash down, wildlife is active and flora thrives. The Khao Phansa holiday (usually held in July but sometimes late June) marks the beginning of the rains retreat for Buddhist monastics, coinciding with big events like Ubon Ratchathani’s Hae Thian (Candle) Festival and Phi Ta Khon in Dan Sai . If you’re looking for the lowest chances of rain, hit the lower Gulf provinces of Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat , Phatthalung and Songkhla .

The upper Gulf coast, including beach towns like Hua Hin and Ban Krut , stay relatively dry in July, while the lower Gulf islands of Ko Samui , Ko Pha Ngan and Ko Tao are a lot drier than other Thai islands. We suggest avoiding Andaman Sea islands, such as Phuket and Ko Lanta , and especially eastern Gulf islands, like Ko Chang , at this time of year.

July marks the beginning of a steady rise in rainfall and very slight drop in daily average temperatures that will continue on a monthly basis through to September. As long as you don't mind the rain, Kanchanaburi is quite good this time of the year as the waterfalls are really going and the national parks are pretty (if muddy and slippery).

If you thought June on Ko Chang was wet, prepare for more of the same in July. Torrential. The especially heavy rain starts to take its toll with erosion and landslides becoming a bit of a problem. Not to say there is no sun at all, but generally speaking, July is an especially wet month on Ko Chang.

July is the first really wet month of the year in Chiang Mai . You'll see some rain more often than not and street flooding will be a problem after heavy downfalls. While the forests will really be coming into their own as far as lushness is concerned, the trekking will be heavy going. You will get wet. You will get muddy. But that's to be expected — you're in a tropical jungle afterall! The provinces bordering Burma along with Chiang Rai in the far north will see even more rain than elsewhere in northern Thailand.

The weather in July in northeast Thailand is pretty much a carbon copy of June — wet and hot! The far eastern province of Nakhon Phanom sees especially heavy rain with the rest of Thailand. While you'll be seeing rain roughly every other day, this remains a reasonable time weather-wise to visit Northeast Thailand.

Expect very similar weather in July as you would in June. Hot and wet, though not as wet as the west coast. The northern stretch of the Gulf Coast, including towns like Prachuap Khiri Khan, Hua Hin and Phetburi will be significantly drier than Ko Samui , Ko Pha Ngan and Ko Tao . Even though there will be rain on the islands in July, there will still be a lot of sun too, and, for dedicated island time, these islands remain your best bet in Thailand weather-wise.

The west coast of Thailand is wet with rough seas in July. Some provinces fare worse than others: Ranong in the north is especially wet, Phuket less so, Trang lesser so and Satun lesser so still, but they're still all pretty wet! Some smaller islands may see a selection of the cheaper guesthouses and resorts shut down or run on a skeleton staff as business drops. Ferry frequency will also be reduced — especially out to Ko Lipe in Saturn province. Overall, for island time, the east (Gulf) coast is better this time of year.

However, don’t expect the rain to hamper your holiday, as you can easily enjoy the transition months with full rivers, green valleys, and mountains as well as a good mix of sun and rain.

The month of July sees the summer moving into the monsoon, with some areas experiencing more rainfall than others. It’s best to explore the inland areas during this time, but you can also visit certain dry islands to relish Thailand’s culture and beauty. A majority of tourists head to Koh Samet just to relax and lounge on the beach. It’s a laid-back island with not a lot to do, but a ton of beaches to suit your fancy. All the activities are also shoreline-focused; hotels, night clubs, spas and restaurants are all spread out the beach. Even in the peak monsoon, Koh Samet receives very little rainfall, so July is a great month for you to sit back and watch the sun set over the horizon.

Things to do:  Spot wildlife at Khao Laem Ya National Park, try water sports at any beach, relax on the brilliant white sand of Haad Sai Kaew

Asanha Bucha

This holy festival is based on the Lunar calendar, but is usually held in July or August. A beautiful ceremony or  puja  is held at large temples, where all the monks gather to be ordained on this auspicious day. Peaceful candle-lit processions are held in different parts of the country, and donations in the form of food and candles are made to local temples.

Wan Khao Phansa

The day after Sancha Bucha marks the start of Wan Khao Phansa, a three-month long Buddhist period of Lent, when monks retreat to temples to study and meditate. It is also a sign of the start of the monsoon season, and celebrated with a lot of pomp and ceremony, with candle processions and boat ceremonies.

• Prepare for the monsoon with an  umbrella  for walks on the beach, or a  raincoat  while riding around. If needed, carry a light jacket.
• For footwear, carry  walking shoes  or  boots  for treks and walks in the rain, and  belted sandals or flip-flops  for the beach.
• Bring along  sunscreen , a  hat  and  sunglasses  for those warm afternoons.
• Carry  insect and mosquito repellent  to fight off bugs that come out in the evenings.
• Remember to bring  waterproof phone and camera cases , so you don’t miss out on capturing your memories.

If you are looking for an enjoyable holiday with minimal hindrances, it is best to keep certain things in mind.

• The weather in Bali has become unreliable over the last few years, so it’s best to be prepared by packing all your essentials. Carry an umbrella or raincoat whenever you step out, and  check the weather forecast  before booking any outdoor activities or water sports.
• Activity and travel rate scams are rampant here.  Confirm all rates  for taxis and adventure sports before paying up.
• Eating at street stalls is quite common here, but don’t just stop anywhere for a meal, especially in the monsoon. Ask around for recommendations, or eat at sit-down restaurants for large meals.  Avoid eating raw food .
• Consume  bottled water only . Do not drink from the tap.

The traditional phansa rains retreat period for monks lasts for three months. It’s a time when many young Thai men make merit for their family by temporarily ordaining as Buddhist monks.

The arrival of the Buddhist Lent period is also a time when it’s customary for Thai people to donate candles to their local temples. This simple act of donating candles has morphed into elaborate parades at locations around Thailand, but the biggest and most colourful event takes place in the north-east of Thailand at the Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival .

Other events to look out for in Thailand include the Phuket Yachting Race Week in mid-July and the birthday of HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X) on July 28.

July in Thailand can be summed up in two words: wet and hot. There will be plenty of sunshine, but expect a reasonable amount of rain as well. Perhaps some rain if you are lucky

I actually prefer 'rainy / green' season, as everything is quite lush. If talking later half as in 2 weeks or so, then should be fine, and see some sunshine, along with some rain. Heavy or not, or if any, is the luck of the draw, as many are finding out now, with some un-seasonally rain in dry season.

On clear days, it will be very clear, and no worries of burn off smog.

Dry season has some burn off, along with staying warm, along with everything not so lush, and lawns / parks a bit dry, dusty and crunchy.

I'm also looking at going mid-late July. Where would you recommend beach wise or staying at this time?

The west coast is in rainy season so you will need to balance out the great low season hotel deals with the possibility of lots of rain and rough seas. You may be lucky though and not have much rain at all.

During the global COVID-19 pandemic, measures have been enforced to prevent and control COVID-19 from spreading in Thailand. This includes measures to keep an influx of visitors to Thailand in check.

After two years of dealing with Covid and extensive travel restrictions, international travel is finally returning to normal on the 1st of July, 2022. From July 1st, the following changes have been implemented for all international travelers.

• Foreigners do not need to show proof of Covid Insurance.
• All mandatory hotel quarantine has been removed.
• Thailand Pass is no longer required for foreign travelers to enter Thailand.
• Vaccinated travelers do not need to provide proof of vaccination before arriving.
• Unvaccinated travelers (including children traveling with unvaccinated parents) will need to complete an RT-PCR or Professional Antigen Test (Pro-ATK) 72 hours before departing for Thailand. Proof does not need to be uploaded before traveling.
• Airlines and Thai Immigration will do random checks to confirm travelers meet Covid prevention requirements (vaccination or Covid test).

Required Documents for Travel to Thailand

Please have the following documents ready.

• Passport with at least six month validity
• Visa or visa exemption qualification
• Buy Thailand Travel Insurance
• Boarding pass to be presented at Passport Control
• Hotel booking confirmation if asked by Immigration Officer
• Note: Vaccination record no longer required

Incorrect documents will delay the entry screening by rules from the Thai immigration bureau and its Thai immigration officials.

Step 1 – Check your eligibility

It is important to start your travel plans to Thailand by checking your eligibility. After July 1, you will need to check on what to do depending on your vaccination status, and what type of visa you will use when visiting Thailand.

For a general traveler, you may opt to enter Thailand without a visa under the Visa Exemption program. If you are entering Thailand for a holiday, you may be eligible to receive a “Visa on arrival”.

For those entering Thailand for a different purpose of stay, they need to obtain a Thai visa from their local Thai Embassy or Consulate prior to coming to Thailand. In the next step of the process, you may check the available visas for you.

Step 2 – Apply for the Visa

Thailand elite visa.

Visa Exemption

Nationalities under the Visa Exemption Program are allowed to enter Thailand without a visa from a Thai Embassy or Consulate. Upon arriving in Thailand, most nationalities who are part of the Visa Exemption Program are allowed to stay for 30 days. Certain nationalities can arrive as part of this program but for a shorter period of time. It is best to check the country exemption list and confirm how long you can visit Thailand without needing to apply for a Visa.

Tourist Visa and Special Tourist Visa (STV)

Foreigners may also apply for a Tourist Visa from the Thai embassy or consulate. There is the normal 60-day tourist visa that can be extended for additional 30 days, and the 90-day Special Tourist Visa (STV) which can be extended for two 90-day visa extensions at the local immigration office. There are certain requirements needed for the STV, but it allows a visitor to stay in Thailand for a potential 9 months.

Non-Immigrant Visa

Foreigners may also apply for a wide range of non-immigrant visas:

• Non-immigrant B Visa – for conducting business or employment
• Non-immigrant O visa – for visiting Thai spouse and family
• Non-immigrant ED visa – for students of recognized institutions in Thailand as well as their Parents or Legal Guardians
• Non-immigrant O retirement visa – for those who wish to retire in Thailand
• Non-immigrant OA and OX visa – for those who wish to obtain a Thailand retirement visa for long stay (it is different from type O visa)

Step 3 – Book a Flight, Hotel, and COVID-19 Insurance

There are many changes for how to enter Thailand after July 1, so it is important for a traveler to know what is required before departing their country and entering Thailand.

Flights to Thailand

At present, most airlines such as Qatar, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, All Nippon, Finnair, Thai Airways, and other major airlines are now permitted to operate flights to Thailand whether it is on a daily or weekly basis.

Vaccinated travelers are required to have their vaccination certificates on hand. Unvaccinated travelers will need to complete an RT-PCR or Pro-ATK 72 hours before departure from their home country.

Though Thailand Pass has been removed from July 1, and travelers no longer need to upload proof of vaccination or Covid Test, Airlines will do random checks and if travelers do not meet Covid requirements they will not be allowed to board their flight.

Before booking flights to Thailand with the airlines, travelers should ensure that they study the different categories of Thai visas granted to foreign nationals at this time to determine the possibility of travel. Please note that having plane tickets does not guarantee entry to Thailand, non-Thai travelers must have the correct Covid documents to enter Thailand. Since all mandatory quarantine conditions have been removed, travelers no longer need to worry about booking “sealed” flights if they wish to transit directly to a domestic flight.

Hotel Updates

From July 1, travelers are no longer required to book a SHA+ hotel and undergo an RT-PCR test on arrival. Travelers can enter the Kingdom and travel freely, booking any of the many wonderful hotels in Thailand .

Unvaccinated travelers do not need to provide proof of a hotel booking as mandatory quarantine measures have been removed for all travelers.

It is recommended to browse hotels in Thailand on Agoda.com before arriving as it is easier to organize transport to your first night’s rest if pre-booked.

Travelers are free to travel anywhere in Thailand when they arrive and do not need to worry about any testing or Province restrictions.

Book Your Insurance

Having Travel Insurance was a good practice before the world had to deal with Covid. During the Covid pandemic it was mandatory.

It is recommended for all visitors coming to Thailand to purchase travel insurance . Testing positive for Covid is still a possibility, and though people hope for an incident-free holiday, injuries and illness can happen.

Foreign visitors are not eligible for free medical care in Thailand. If the worst happens, a traveler could have expensive medical bills. Having a quality insurance policy can save a traveler potential medical expenses and allow them to enjoy a worry-free holiday.

A good insurance policy will also cover incidents like delayed flights, damage to personal possession, and loss of luggage.

Step 4 – Do I Need to Apply for the Thailand Pass?

From July 1st, 2022, foreign travelers no longer need to apply for a Thailand Pass before entering Thailand. The system is still in place but is now a platform where visitors can notify the Thai authority and medical facilities, and seek advice if they are diagnosed positive for Covid during their stay.

Step 5 – Prepare the documents for your flight

Once you have booked your flights and ready to travel, it is recommended to prepare some documents for your holiday.

• Valid Thai visa in your passport or electronic visa approval (if applicable)
• COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate in case you are asked to present it to the airline or Passport Control for a spot check on arrival.
• RT-PCR or Pro-ATK test result if you are asked to present it for a random Covid check before boarding or on arrival.
• Travel insurance for Thailand is recommended by the Thai Government

How to Obtain COVID-19 Insurance

Though COVID-19 travel insurance is no longer mandatory for entry to Thailand, it is recommended to have comprehensive insurance for the duration of your stay. Good travel insurance covers not only medical expenses relating to Covid, but also accident cover, personal damage or loss of possessions and missed or delayed flights.

It is best to purchase insurance before you travel. The easiest way to buy your policy is online through a reputable insurance provider. The insurance company will provide you with the all-important certificate of cover that you can present to authorities or medical professionals if you need to make a claim.

You may also be asked to present this certificate to the airline before they will allow you onboard. It’s quick and easy to do online. Good afternoon, I will be travelling to Thailand in December 2022 with my 8 year old child. I am fully vaccinated but by child is not. My questions are: – Does my child need PCR test before entering Thailand? – My COVID-19 immunisation booster was done in February 2022. Will I need to get an updated booster to enter Thailand?

Yes, booster is okay since you are fully vaccinated. For travel insurance with covid coverage, it’s not actually compulsory but still suggested. If you have other insurance provider, that would be fine.

Some countries in Asia , doesn’t require visa for short period of travel. He/She can go it directly from Thailand. Incase needed, he may go and visit with the nearest Embassy so they can be assisted further.
