Inspired by the rugged landscape of Dartmoor on which we live and guided by our Master Distiller, Frank McHardy, our mission is to produce single malt English whisky of unrivalled quality that encapsulates the true spirit of Dartmoor National Park.

Our single-malt, single-cask whisky is distilled in our beautiful ex-Cognac still. Sourced from the French countryside, the copper still was hand-beaten in 1966 and has produced quality spirit for the likes of Hennessy, Martel and Remy Martin for most of its life. Saved from sitting dormant since its decommission in 1994, our still has been fully refurbished to restore it back to its former glory and is now producing our smooth, sweet, new make spirit made from Dartmoor barley.

We currently have three core expressions: our original ex-Bordeaux Cask Single Malt, our American Oak ex-Bourbon Cask Single Malt and our ex-Oloroso Sherry Cask Single Malt, all carefully crafted in our distillery in the Old Town Hall, Bovey Tracey.

This tasting experience is the perfect afternoon activity for any whisky lover, a group of friends or family visiting the area, a birthday or celebration, or would make an amazing gift any time of the year. Dogs are allowed into the distillery.

Within our enchanting premises, our single-malt, single-cask whisky undergoes a remarkable transformation within our exquisite ex-Cognac still. This magnificent vessel, hailing from the picturesque French countryside, was meticulously handcrafted in 1966 and has graced the hallowed halls of esteemed brands such as Hennessy, Martel, and Remy Martin. Rescued from a state of idle dormancy since its decommissioning in 1994, our cherished still has been meticulously restored to its former glory.

Today, it proudly produces our velvety, delectable new-make spirit, utilising the finest Dartmoor barley. At present, our discerning connoisseurs can indulge in three distinctive expressions: the original ex-Bordeaux Cask Single Malt, the American Oak ex-Bourbon Cask Single Malt, and the ex-Oloroso Sherry Cask Single Malt. Each variant is meticulously crafted within the walls of our distinguished distillery, nestled within the historic confines of the Old Town Hall in Bovey Tracey.  

Devon’s climate  

Devon boasts a conducive climate and fertile soil that lend themselves perfectly to cultivating top-notch barley. Additionally, the remarkable granite geology of Dartmoor acts as a natural filter, ensuring the purity of the spring water used in the process.

Moreover, the exceptional air quality, complemented by refreshing sea breezes, creates an ideal environment for maturing the beverage. Devon takes pride in its exceptional local producers, like Warminster Maltings, a long-standing malt house with a rich history of traditional barley malting.

Furthermore, the county boasts a higher number of cask beer brewers than any other region in England. These factors collectively contribute to the availability of all the necessary components for crafting an exceptionally fine single malt whisky right here in Devon.

Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room.
