The beach boys are on tour. here’s how to get tickets for under $40..

Mike Love stands onstage with occasional bandmate John Stamos.

In 1963, The Beach Boys had their first of many number one hits when “Surfin’ U.S.A.” rose to the top of the Billboard charts.

60 years later, the group is still touring their timeless music.

Led by original member Mike Love, the band will bring classic songs like “Good Vibrations,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “I Get Around,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “Barbara Ann” and countless others to major venues all over the U.S. from February through September .

That includes one stop in the northeast when The Beach Boys drop into Asbury Park, NJ’s Sea.Hear.Now Music Festival on Sept. 16-17 alongside headliners like Foo Fighters and The Killers .

Plus, there’s a very real possibility that “Full House” star John Stamos may appear onstage at the concert of your choosing.

And we’re getting good vibrations from the prices to see the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers on the road this year.

At the time of publication, we found some tickets going for as low as $37 before fees on Vivid Seats.

Not a bad price to be transported to the summer, no matter what the season is.

Want to see The Beach Boys live this year?

Here’s everything you need to know to make that happen.

The Beach Boys 2023 tour schedule

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues and links to the best ticket prices available can be found below.

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Beach Boys festival appearance

On a mid-September weekend, The Beach Boys will hit Asbury Park’s actual beach when they play the surf-centric Sea.Hear.Now Festival at North Beach Asbury Park.

Major acts joining them on the bill include Weezer , Sheryl Crow , Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats , Greta Van Fleet and Mt. Joy .

And there will be actual surfers on hand too.

You can snag tickets for the two-day extravaganza as early as today here .

Beach Boys set list

It may seem unbelievable but The Beach Boys have played over 7,100 shows (!) in their 62 years of existence.

So, we’ll give them a pass when they play nearly the same set every night these days — if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Here’s what you’ll likely see when they perform their thorough, career-spanning set at a venue near you this year.

REVIEW: The Beach Boys at the Hollywood Bowl, July 2-4, 2023

b2

By Ron Vaccaro

Go to any Beach Boys concert these days and it’s easy to think if you closed your eyes, you could be back in the mid-1960s again. Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and a stellar touring band sound that good.

And for three nights in their native Southern California, as part of an accurately named “July 4 th Fireworks Spectacular with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra,” you could easily be transported back to the early 1960s even with your eyes open. (This 41-year-old will need to take his brain’s word for it.) In matching grey suits evoking images from over a half-century ago, the 62-year-old ‘America’s Band’ took the stage at the 101-year-old venue and belted out hit after hit after hit, the music as timeless and majestic as the Hollywood Hills that provided the backdrop to these quintessential summer evenings.

These shows would have been great were they merely a fun nostalgia trip. But for me, and I’d argue many if not most of the nearly 50,000 people who saw the band over three nights, the music was as relevant, and needed today as its ever been. This is in no small part thanks to the spirit, joy and skill of the musicians who bring it to life. The experience was a particular treat for me – I am from southern Connecticut, but thanks to my dad, I grew up listening primarily to The Beach Boys, with a little Beatles mixed in. I knew where Hawthorne, California was long before I knew many of the cities and towns that surrounded my home. I’ve seen them in various configurations dozens of times in the last thirty years but seeing this band in this place was something I deemed once-in-a-lifetime, but now I’m left hoping it’s not, that more chances will arise.

While a typical Beach Boys show would have two sets, and well north of thirty songs, these unique performances were shorter, clocking in at 22 songs, as they served as the second set of the night following a patriotic medley from the Orchestra (which was terrific) and a brief intermission.

This configuration of the band really has an emphasis on an exuberant stage presence – bringing some of the greatest music on the planet to life, and that should be a fun exercise in addition to being the result of hard work, and the fruits of both are clearly and consistently on display.

Mike Love at 82 outworks performers half his age. His unmistakable voice cut through the beginning of the set’s “Do It Again,” “Surfin’ Safari,” and “Catch a Wave,” during which we first get introduced by name to one of the band’s backing members, Tim Bonhomme, whose rock-solid work on keyboards has been a foundation of the live experience for over twenty years now.

“Surfer Girl” was an early highlight of the night, with cell phone flashlights poignantly illuminating the entire Hollywood Bowl, accompanying the terrific vocal harmonies, with particular shine from Brian Eichenberger and Bruce Johnston. Eichenberger then delivered a vibrant rendition of “Don’t Worry Baby,” with falsettos that radiated all the way to the top of Hollywood Bowl and fueled the hot-wiring of the Hot Rods that followed, like “Little Deuce Coupe” and “I Get Around.” The orchestra, conducted by Thomas Wilkins, added tremendous sonic depth all night and particularly in this stretch.

Special guest percussionist John Stamos had some fun play leading into “Be True to Your School”.  Over the years, I’ve been accompanied at shows by people whose reactions to guest appearances by the likes of Stamos, or Mark McGrath (who appeared at the July 4 th show) have ranged from tolerant to the sole reason they went to the show. Wherever one falls on that spectrum, there is no denying the genuine emotion and passion Stamos has for this music and these musicians. That energy is unavoidably infectious, and someone at my table remarked that she only came for Stamos but was now determined to see the band again, even as his gag-drumroll to “Be True to Your School,” which Love so aptly referred to as a “virtual anthem” may still be echoing through the LA canyons.

Drummer Jon Bolton joined the band this spring and is a ‘bolt’ of energy and joy for sure and led a gritty performance of ‘Darlin’. Bolton, along with bassist Keith Hubacher, really drove the rocking rhythm section throughout the night.

Johnston introduced “Disney Girls” as his ‘back to the future’ song, reminiscing what times were like when he was 15, not into the type of ‘contact high’ that would have resulted from a group of teenagers in the crowd at a 1970s Carnegie Hall concert. The ‘back to the future’ characterization seems particularly appropriate on nights like these, and Johnston’s vocals were spot on, as were the backing instruments.

Another ‘highlight’ came after Stamos led a soulful “Forever.” A brief video that included sound from Brian Wilson, Love, and Paul McCartney was played, talking about the significance of the Pet Sounds album and then “God Only Knows” in particular, which went right into lead vocals from Christian Love, whose efforts more than met the moment. “Sloop John B” and “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” seamlessly followed, the latter having really energized the crowd in advance of the “state song”, “California Girls”, which showed off the richness of the band’s sound, with a nod to John Wedemeyer, who brings a lot of gravitas to the lead guitar position.

“Kokomo,” now thirty-five years old, is an appropriately placed late-set choice, it showcases so many aspects of the band (and on these nights, the orchestral accompaniment) from Randy Leago on the ‘sax-o-f-f-f-ono’ to the perfectly complementing lead vocals from Love and silky smooth high parts from Eichenberger.  A powerful “Good Vibrations” led well into a 10-minute fireworks display accompanied by the orchestra playing patriotic staples with precision that matches their efforts to be in sync with the band all night (credit all around to those who worked to pull that off).

Post-fireworks, a rollicking “Fun Fun Fun” closes the show, including a terrific falsetto from Johnston at the end. As a kid, that song made me wish I could own a T-bird when I was old enough to drive, but it was Ford who took the T-bird away 18 years ago. Now, “Fun Fun Fun” is almost a perfectly contradicting closer to the night. On the one hand a fitting capper to an evening full of just that – it’s impossible to leave anything but satisfied, full of appreciation and gratitude and joy for the performance Love, Johnston and the whole band put on. But I’m also determined to make sure my fun isn’t all through – and inevitably I end up looking at the schedule, and buying tickets to another upcoming show, and it is always a particular thrill when I get to turn the tables on my parents and treat them to an evening with The Beach Boys, in order to thank them for turning me onto The Beach Boys. Back to the future indeed.

Surfin’ The Beach Boys Tribute

SURFIN’ The Beach Boys Tribute sings America’s enduring soundtrack. The band is a faithful recreation of what it would have been like to see The Beach Boys live, in concert, in their prime. Surfin has truly captured the essence of the original Beach Boys with stunning harmonies and the genius of Brian Wilson’s music. This 5 member line-up is unrivaled in their sound, presentation, and professionalism.  The uniband choreography, the Fender guitar line up, the famous custom striped shirts, right down to the black suede Beach Boy boots, it’s all here. SURFIN’… a great show, a great time, and fun, fun, fun till our Daddy takes the T-Bird away!

The Beach Boys Hold ‘Family Reunion' at ‘Surfin' Safari' Spot in Clip From Band's Documentary

The Beach Boys hold a "family reunion" at the same spot where their Surfin' Safari was photographed in this exclusive clip from the upcoming Disney+ documentary about the trailblazing group.

In The Beach Boys clip from 2023 - and premiering on the 58th anniversary of the release of Pet Sounds - director Frank Marshall gathers the group's Brian Wilson, Mike Love, and Al Jardine at California's Paradise Cover, where the cover of their 1962 debut album was captured; Marshall even conjured up the original surfboard featured on the cover.

"The fact that this group came along and put lyrics and harmony to surf music, the Beach Boys sound is the sound of joy, so I thought it would be sort of poetic for the Beach Boys getting together where it all started," Marshall says in the clip.

"The whole day was so joyful and memorable, it was really like a family reunion."

The Beach Boys  was directed by Marshall and Thom Zimny and features new interviews with surviving members Wilson,  Mike Love , Al Jardine, David Marks, and Bruce Johnston. There will also be contributions from former band members Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar, as well as the band's contemporaries and artists they went on to inspire - like Lindsey Buckingham, Janelle Monáe, Ryan Tedder, and Don Was - plus archival interviews with late Beach Boys Carl and Dennis Wilson (who died in 1998 and 1983, respectively).

An official soundtrack featuring songs from the film will hit streaming services on May 24, the same day the documentary arrives on Disney+.

The Beach Boys at Marymoor Amphitheater

The Beach Boys are among the pillars of surf bands in music history. They rose to prominence when the Beetles shook the music scene in the US, Formed by Murry Wilson in 1961. The band comprises his sons Dennis, Carl, and Brian Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and their close friend Al Jardine. Their sweet and soothing youthful tunes became the 60s most prominent rock style, emulated by many, and were cherished by many young people of that time. More than half a decade might have passed, but their music continues to transcend time and generations. The band is a musical icon and will continue for many decades.

The band emerged in Hawthorne, California. Their chemistry was first discovered during their teenage years, as Dennis, Carl, and Brian tend to emulate music boy groups like the Four Freshmen and the Hi-Lo's, which they do by harmonizing. Occasionally, their cousin Mike would join them. Later on, as the formation of the band began to become serious, Al was introduced as their fifth member by Dennis. In support of their potential, their parents rented instruments. They then began creating music, starting with "Surfin'," released in 1961. It immediately garnered buzz from people and led to them getting signed with a record label.

A year later, their influence was in full force as their debut album "Surfin' Safari" emerged. This release would popularize surf bands in California. In 1963, their prominence took a sharp rise as they released "Surfin' USA." By then, they had captured the nation's attention, and their style was then dubbed California Sounds." Their success would continue throughout their career. Among their most memorable releases are "You Still Believe in Me," "God Only Knows," and "I Can Hear Music." Their success was unprecedented, most especially because they were facing the Beetles and their huge popularity, which was dubbed the "British Invasion."

Sixty years after, the band is still as active as ever. Currently, the band consists of the remaining brothers, Carl and Dennis Wilson, David Marks, Ricky Fataar, and Blondie Chaplin.

Part of their undying passion for music is their yearly tour. This year, the Beach Boys will be visiting the Marymoor Amphitheater on Sunday, August 27. If you're close, don't miss this chance to meet musical legends!

ABOUT THE BAND

Beginning with the surfing craze of Southern California, complete with big waves, boss cars, and pretty girls, The Beach Boys spread the surf-rock craze throughout the United States and then the world. With their delicate blend of sweet, joyful, and yet sometimes somber harmonies, they captivated our ears and became a staple within the soundtrack of our collective youths. As they progressed and matured, bandleader Brian Wilson began experimenting with more complicated arrangements blended with a vast array of emotions. This would move the band far beyond hit songs like "Fun, Fun, Fun" and "I Get Around" into a far more adventurous period that produced classics such as "Wouldn't it Be Nice" and "God Only Knows." Surfin' USA features seven musicians from the Kansas City area with nearly 300 years of combined live performance experience. They have toured in various high-profile acts around the United States and even feature members of the Kansas Music Hall of Fame. Their collective dedication to quality musicianship and soaring harmonies will be on full display as they are committed to accurately recreating the music of The Beach Boys. Great care and love have gone into every note and lyric. But most importantly, every show is a rockin' beach party for fans of all ages!

Trending on billboard.

The Beach Boys , initially comprised of Jardine, Love and his three first cousins, Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson, have charted 55 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 — starting with their first sun-drenched single, “Surfin’,” in 1962, and including four No. 1s: 1964’s “I Get Around,” 1965’s “Help Me, Rhonda,” 1966’s “Good Vibrations” and 1988’s “Kokomo.”

“Certainly my goal was to find out how it all happened, and to tell the individual stories of each member,” says Marshall, who has directed previous music documentaries on the Bee Gees and James Taylor/Carole King. “It’s very complicated. A couple of members come and go and come back. And so it was really a journey for me of exploring how this group came together and what made it tick.”

In addition to Love and Jardine, the film includes new interviews with Beach Boys Brian Wilson, David Marks (who replaced Jardine in 1962 when he briefly dropped out) and Bruce Johnston (who joined in 1965), as well as archival footage with the late Dennis Wilson and Carl Wilson, who died in 1983 and 1998, respectively. Even though Brian Wilson is now under a conservatorship — and, according to a doctor, suffers from a neurocognitive disorder — Marshall was able to integrate small portions of the new Wilson interviews, which he supplemented with a rich assortment of previous interviews from through the decades.

Given the Beach Boys’ decades-long infighting — Marshall says, “When we started, they kind of weren’t talking to each other”— it’s no surprise that “it took a long time to convince them that I wasn’t going to just trash everybody” when he and Zimny first approached the band.

Much of the Beach Boys’ history has, understandably, focused on the inventive musical genius of Brian Wilson (Jardine refers to him as “The Thomas Edison of music”). But the documentary deliberately highlights the talents and contributions of all of the members — especially Love, as co-writer on dozens of gems (including “Good Vibrations,” “Fun, Fun, Fun” and “California Girls,” and as the band’s energetic front man and somewhat keeper of the flame, given Wilson’s reticence to tour and history of mental health challenges.

“It wouldn’t be the same without all of them together,” Marshall says. “The blend.”

That familial blend was cultivated early on, Love says: “We’d all get together at Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, birthdays, and it was all about music. The first memory of Brian singing, I remember him sitting on Grandma Wilson’s lap singing ‘Danny Boy.’ Amazing.” Jardine met the cousins in high school and the blending developed into something much more sublime, Love says. The key to the Beach Boys’ stunning vocal arrangements, was “sublimating your individuality” for the good of the overall sound. “We were obsessed with that,” he says.

One of the most painful parts of the documentary revisits Murry Wilson selling the group’s music publishing to Irving Almo Music for a paltry $700,000 in 1969 (roughly $6 million in current dollars). If sold in today’s market, the catalog would likely fetch more than $200 million. “My Uncle Murry disenfranchised me, but also his sons. That was a tremendous blow, psychologically as well as materially,” Love says. “We had fired him [as our manager] long before that and that was his way of getting back at me and my cousins.”

Furthermore, Jardine adds, in a story not in the documentary, “We actually had a deal ready to go with another company. They had already accepted. They were going to put up the money and we were going to be partners. He purposefully went ahead and sold it to Almo.”

“He totally screwed us,” Love says, with a rueful laugh. “It affected Brian in a horrible way. I mean, it set him back. He went into seclusion. Has he ever been the same?”

Though Love later successfully sued Brian Wilson for publishing money, he prefers to not “dwell” on the bad times. “What we favor is recreating those songs as beautifully as possible,” he says.

And that beautiful recreating continues. Love, who has had the legal rights to tour under the Beach Boys name for decades, and Johnston are now on the  Endless Summer Gold  tour, which includes more than 75 dates before the end of the year. (Wilson, with Jardine by his side, stopped performing in 2022. There are no plans for Jardine to join Love and Johnston’s band on tour. After years of touring in different configurations, Love, Wilson, Jardine, Marks and Johnston reunited briefly in 2012 for the Beach Boys’ 50th anniversary tour.)

The documentary follows such IAG-guided efforts as the  Grammy Salute to the Beach Boys  that aired on CBS last May, a dedicated Beach Boys channel on SiriusXM and an expansive coffee table book produced by Genesis Publications,  The Beach Boys by The Beach Boys , that came out in April. Adding to the bounty, an official documentary soundtrack also drops today from Capitol/UME with the band’s biggest hits, as well as a new track, “Baby Blue Bathing Suit,” from Stephen Sanchez, written in tribute to the boys of summer.

For his part, Love says IAG has “done a fantastic job” with the band’s legacy. “Probably better than we could ever hope to be done.”

“The Beach Boys’ music is timeless. We just create opportunities to experience it,” Edwards says, noting that since the 2021 acquisition, “we’ve nearly doubled The Beach Boys’ social audience to approximately 7.5 million and saw their global audio streams surpass 1 billion for the first time in a calendar year in 2023.”

The documentary ends in 1974, with the release of  Endless Summer , a greatest hits collection focused on the hits from 1962-1965 that introduced the Beach Boys and their upbeat music to a new generation — just as the documentary may now do. The double album was wildly successful, becoming the Beach Boys’ second No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spending 156 weeks on the albums chart — but, more importantly, resurrected the group’s live career. They went from playing for $2,500 per night, Jardine says, to filling stadiums, and, ultimately, playing for a combined 1.4 million people in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. on July 4, 1980.

Marshall deliberately decided to use only video, not the audio, but considers the reunion a triumph. “My dream was: let bygones be bygones. Let’s look at the joy and what they accomplished,” Marshall says. His endgame was to reunite the members, ultimately deciding to return to the location where it all began. “It was really designed as a montage, a cinema verité moment,” he says.

Nine months later, Love remembers it as a joyous gathering. “We did sing songs together, we reminisced about old times. Al played the guitar. Brian was remembering things that happened when we were in high school from 1958 or 1959,” he says.

The five band members reunited again briefly Tuesday (May 21) at the premiere of the documentary in Los Angeles, and Love says he looks at the whole process as a gift. “We’re grateful and thankful and somewhat honored to have this documentary that Mr. Marshall has taken under wing,” he says. “It’s a fantastic thing to have happen at this stage of our lives.”

Jan and Dean were an American rock duo consisting of Jan Berry (April 3, 1941 – March 26, 2004) and Dean Torrence . In the early 1960s, they were pioneers of the California Sound and vocal surf music styles popularized by the Beach Boys. Among their most successful songs was 1963’s “Surf City”, the first surf song to top the Hot 100. Their other charting top 10 singles were “Drag City” (1963), “The Little Old Lady from Pasadena” (1964), and “Dead Man’s Curve” (1964); the last was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2008. In 1972, Torrence won the Grammy Award for Best Album Cover for the psychedelic rock band Pollution’s first eponymous 1971 album, and was nominated three other times in the same category for albums of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. In 2013, Torrence’s design contribution of the Surf City Allstars “In Concert” CD was named a Silver Award of Distinction at the Communicator Awards competition. Bring your surfboards to hear Dean Torrence of Jan and Dean sing their numerous hits including “Little Old Lady from Pasadena”, “Dead Man’s Curve” and “Surf City”, along with his group of musicians and singers who have performed with both Jan & Dean and The Beach Boys.
